PSA for anyone with an Android phone. Delete your Meta apps (Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads). They are spying on you. Much worse than you thought they were. (June 7, 2025)
Gift link to a Washington Post article: https://wapo.st/45hNMeB
Quote from the article:
…apps from Meta and Yandex, a technology company that originated in Russia, circumvented privacy protections in Android devices in ways that allowed their apps to secretly track people as they browsed the web.
That should not have happened. Apps on your phone are walled off from accessing your activity on other apps, including web browser apps like Chrome. Meta and Yandex found work-arounds.
The techniques essentially were akin to malware, or malicious software that is surreptitiously planted on your phone or computer, Dolanjski said.
Google said the behaviors of Meta and Yandex “blatantly violate our security and privacy principles.”
Technical analysis from Ars Technica: https://arstechnica.com/security/2025/06/meta-and-yandex-are-de-anonymizing-android-users-web-browsing-identifiers/
Note: the WaPo article says that so far, there’s no evidence this is happening on iPhones, but that it would be theoretically possible. So you should probably delete your Meta apps on iPhone, too.

Been obsessed lately can we get 📱😴🧹 for slade please!
He tends to have that effect on people 😉
🧹 Chores
Are they the one doing most chores in the house?
Slade mostly lives in crappy motels and on the couches of friends and family that don't want him around. So no, he doesn't undertake chores frequently. He is a very organised person, though, and he does tend to clean up after himself when he's a guest in other people's homes.
Which chore is the one they dread doing the most?
Anything that consumes big chunks of time, like deep cleaning or ironing and folding laundry. It's time that could be better served on other things.
Do they wash the dishes right after a meal, or do they leave them in the sink until it's impossible to ignore them?
Pre-divorce he was guilt of leaving dishes and most other chores for Adeline to deal with. Spoiler: Addy is taking none of that shit, so they would sit there until one of them caved. Post-divorce, when there's nobody else to deal with he'll sort it straight away.
Do they have the dreaded "laundry chair" where they put dirty clothes on?
Nope.
Do they make their bed in the morning, or leave it undone until it's time to sleep?
He makes the bed every morning, and he makes it up very precisely. The same way he was trained to while in the army.
📱 Phone
What phone do they have?
Whatever is cheap but sturdy. They're always burners that he swaps out after every job he takes, so there's no need for anything fancy.
Do they use specific ringtones depending on who calls them, or do they use just one for everyone?
Default ringtone. It's almost always on silent so he has no need to specifics.
How often do they check their phone?
When he's looking for a job, especially when he's itching to get moving, then he'll be on it pretty consistently. But unless he's spiralling, it basically ceases to exist in his head.
Do they keep their phone's audio volume on, or do they prefer the vibration or? or do they rather have it silenced?
No volume, no vibrations. Can't risk it going off when he's working, especially on stealth missions.
How many apps to they have on their phone, give or take?
In addition to whatever comes as standard:
Tor, or another dark web dedicated browser.
Some sort of VPN security app.
Whatsapp or telegram - whatever encrypted messaging app his kids use.
Similarly he has a couple of fake social media apps that he uses to keep track of Joey, and Rose (and Addy, and Dick)
So like 4-5?
Do they have games on their phone?
Nope, and he judges people he see in public playing games on their phones.
What's their background and lock-screen?
Default, he doesn't hold onto phones long enough to warrant changing them every time.
😴 sleeping routine
At what time do they tend to go to sleep?
As and when his body needs it. He has a terrible sleeping pattern.
Do they take anything to help them sleep ( medicines, chamomilles, warm milk... )?
Rarely. If he does need the aid, he likes warm milk or Ovaltine.
How much does it take for them to fall asleep?
The things keeping him awake are usually psychological, so it takes multiple mugs and meditation even to help him get to the point he needs.
Are they a light or a heavy sleeper?
Unless he's near death, he's typically a very light sleeper. He's always on some level of alert.
Do they snore, talk and/or move a lot while sleeping?
Again, unless he's sleeping of a serious injury that needs time to heal, he's a very light sleeper, he barely moves a muscle. No talking or snoring, he's like a vampire. He does have a tendency to drool though.
Do they dream often? & What kind of dreams to they tend to have?
Moderately often. His dreams often consist of events from his part, usually relating to his children (Grant especially), dramatisations and distorted nightmares of what he could have done differently, how he could have been better.
Do they prefer to be in complete darkness to fall asleep, or are they ok with a bit of light?
He prefers darkness for its tactical advantage should anyone try to attack him while he sleeps, but either is fine.
Do they need the door or the windows open, or do they prefer them closed when they go to sleep?
Both closed. His hearing is good enough to detect if anyone is touching the locks/handles.
What's their usual sleeping position?
He often sleeps sitting up, head resting on the back of the chair, but when he's in a bed he'll take advantage. If he's truly exhausted he'll just collapse in a pile, but other wise he sleeps on his back, arms and legs straight like a damn corpse.
Where is their bed? with a side against the wall, in the middle of the room... ?
Wherever the motel has placed it.

Patrick Beuth, Jörg Diehl, Roman Höfner, Roman Lehberger, Friederike Röhreke, and Fidelius Schmid at Der Spiegel:
Private contact details of the most important security advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump can be found on the internet. DER SPIEGEL reporters were able to find mobile phone numbers, email addresses and even some passwords belonging to the top officials. To do so, the reporters used commercial people search engines along with hacked customer data that has been published on the web. Those affected by the leaks include National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Most of these numbers and email addresses are apparently still in use, with some of them linked to profiles on social media platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn. They were used to create Dropbox accounts and profiles in apps that track running data. There are also WhatsApp profiles for the respective phone numbers and even Signal accounts in some cases. As such, the reporting has revealed an additional grave, previously unknown security breach at the highest levels in Washington. Hostile intelligence services could use this publicly available data to hack the communications of those affected by installing spyware on their devices. It is thus conceivable that foreign agents were privy to the Signal chat group in which Gabbard, Waltz and Hegseth discussed a military strike.
Numbers Linked to Signal Accounts
It remains unclear, however, whether this extremely problematic chat was conducted using Signal accounts linked to the private telephone numbers of the officials involved. Tulsi Gabbard has declined to comment. DER SPIEGEL reporting has demonstrated, though, that privately used and publicly accessible telephone numbers belonging to her and Waltz are, in fact, linked to Signal accounts. [...] The White House confirmed the scandal after the fact. Trump insisted that it did not include classified content, a question that is of particular relevance since members of the U.S. government are not permitted to share such information over Signal. The U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, was even in Russia while participating in the chat group.
DER SPIEGEL was able to find some of the contact information for Gabbard, Hegseth and Waltz in commercial databases, while other information was in so-called password leaks, which are hardly a rarity on the internet. One example is the 2019 discovery by Troy Hunt, who found 773 million email addresses and more than 21 million passwords in a hacker forum. Since then, there have been numerous additional leaks. Criminals are constantly compiling new collections from hacks, usually to sell them on forums. [...] The mobile number provided, meanwhile, led to a WhatsApp account that Hegseth apparently only recently deleted. The profile photo showed a shirtless Hegseth in a baseball cap and necklace. Comparisons with other photos of the U.S. secretary of defense using facial recognition software were able to confirm that the photo on the WhatsApp profile was indeed Hegseth.
Several Passwords in Leaked Database
Waltz’s mobile number and email address could be found using the same service provider. The mobile phone number could even be found using a people search engine popular in the U.S. DER SPIEGEL reporters were also able to find several passwords for Waltz’s email address in leaked databases. The information also led to Waltz’s profiles for Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Signal. National Intelligence Director Gabbard was seemingly more careful with her data than her two male colleagues. She apparently had her own data blocked in the commercial contact search engines that contained the data of Hegseth and Waltz. But her email address was to be found on WikiLeaks and Reddit. Gabbard’s email address is available in more than 10 leaks. One of those also contains a partial telephone number, which, when completed, leads to an active WhatsApp account and a Signal profile.
German publication Der Spiegel writes that several of the National Security Advisers for the Trump Administration, including Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, and Michael Waltz, had their private data breached and the passwords found online.

What is your opinion on Davide Valsecchi?
I despise him. He's a raging misogynist, and he never added anything to any racing discourse that I considered of use.
He used to work in Sky F1 Italy a few years ago, and he was an awful host and pseudo-journalist. I saw pseudo bc his place on the team was justified by his "racing experience" and winning GP2, but he never gave technical analysis and he let his rivalries of the past cloud every single judgement he ever gave.
He was a fierce opponent of Vettel in Ferrari, and I remember very distinctively that he gave his opinions with no evidence to back them up. (Later on, I found out that during testing days in some minor formula category, Seb came as a substitute for Valsecchi's teammate for a race, Seb humiliated him on track, him who was supposed to be the shit, and then dipped to do another category, and ever since Valsecchi has been shit to Seb). This hate for Seb is still going, so much so that recently he said that Nico Hulkenberg, whom I like and respect, is better than Sebastian 4 times world champion Vettel. What are we even talking about...
He was fired from Sky for making comments on live tv about two women in the paddock behind him, alongside a guy still in the Sky F1 Italia team, Matteo Bobbi. They were ogling two women in the paddock and called them "upgrade packages who unfortunately they can test."
Bobbi kept his job because he provides with some slight technical commentary, but not much other than that and keeping his Whatsapp web page on during the broadcasts. Valsecchi didn't bring any non-replaceable skills, so he was fired. Valsecchi had a wife and a child when he said that shit, if I'm not mistaken, also.
People like him because they see him as a funny Italian guy with a thick accent that behaves like your funny cousin, but he's just not it. I am appalled by the fact that he was given a spot by the official international F1 broadcast. Let him secure the spot and he'll become the male version of Danika Patrick and the misogyny will come back.

Introducing SavvyDissent
Friends, it's time (I'm sorry to say) to bring back the chain e-mail, the reply all, and the mass text. Security and safe use of the internet just became critical.
I hope you will (securely) spread it through your social circles in person, or by secured email or text.
We're all in shock from the election, and we're all wishing we could do something. Protests and resistance will increase over the next years. My hope, and my advice, is that we take the threat seriously. You (and I) are not overreacting; they tell us their plans. Trump promised at the beginning of this campaign way back in 2023 to overhaul the federal government into his personal bureaucracy. He specified that will include surveillance departments.
This is real, and it's critical to understand the the US is not immune to fascism and authoritarianism. American exceptionalism is a dangerous lie. With the technology we have now, the rise of fascism will look radically different that our historical imaginations conjure, and the administration will be very different than his 2016-2020 presidency.
The 2016 Trump was chaotic and vague, and even then he left destruction in his wake. Now, the far-right have had years to organize for a second Trump regime.
They have concrete plans they didn't have before. Trump is less coherent now, but he's surrounded by people with purpose and competence that in he didn't have in his first administration. His health is declining fast, and JD Vance is potentially even worse ideologically. The Trump administration will likely involve RFK, Jr. and Elon Musk, both of whom are extremely dangerous.
Audaciously, the richest man in the world has warned us to expect austerity. He's in a position to become Trump's propagandist (and has played the role already.)
The Heritage Foundation, an extreme Chisto-fascist organization, are the architects of this coming regime. Their agenda in Project 2025 should terrify us. One of my only sources of hope is that it seems Trump/MAGA are telling us their plans. That advantage is lost when we don't believe them.
We need to accept some harsh truths, and one of these is that social media is not the place for a resistance movement.
It is not our friend or ally; it is demonstrably dangerous. Learning this is part of the mission inherent in the popular phrase, "Don't obey in advance." Don't hand them your information. The CEOs of the major sites are collaborators--they helped manifest this outcome, and they've already demonstrated their willingness to help quell dissent (your photos are used in face-recognition software to identify protesters) and aid the police in hunting down and arresting abortion patients.
We have to rethink organizing, and we have to do it securely.
I must stress that Trump has included leftists (by which he means even moderate liberals and democrats) in his speech about "the enemy within." Even if we are white, Christian, cisgender, straight, and able-bodied, he has declared us the enemy.
Each of us has a decision to make. We either become publicly dissident--risking personal safety to a degree we can't know--or we wage our opposition in the safest way possible.
Social media? They're cops. If we are going to have any hope of staying safe and organizing, we must accept this truth.
We must assess the risk of posting our affiliations and circulate petitions and direct actions on the public web. Most of us are easily identified where data miners and AI can detect this information. For the most part, that's out there, permanently. When you delete an account, the company retains copies of your data.
I am not a security expert, but I have some beginner tips for safer communication.
● Download an end-to-end encrypted messenger app and stop using SMS texting and social media DMs. I recommend Signal or Discord, but would not trust WhatsApp, as it's owned by Meta.
● Look in to data removal services like DeleteMe or Incogni; these will help your reclaim as much of your data.
● Turn off your phone's location tracking.
● Install a VPN and sign up for a secured email. Proton Mail and storage are good; Gmail and Google Drive are the enemy. A VPN (virtual private network) hides your IP address that would otherwise out your location and other info.
● There are cheap anf free options for VPNs and you can find secure email free.
● Install TOR or other secured browsers. Chrome especially is a security nightmare. Incognito or private browsing on your regular browsers is not a safe option.
● Reject site cookies and use best practices for password security.
● Don't make plans online. Circulate information directly using these secure practices. If you volunteer or join protests or see calls to action on public social media, talk with the organizer to urge a move off social media.
● If you attend a protest, read into Black Bloc tactics for anonymity and health/safety, or at least wear a face-obscuring mask. Police have already used face-matching software to arrest protesters in the US.
● Speaking of masking, follow Covid protocols. Our health system will be gutted soon and any measures to prevent communicable disease are going to be on us. (Vaccines could be banned; the CDC eroded even further.) There are dangerous flu strains as well- please take precautions.
● Disable face recognition or thumbprint logins on your phone. Currently the cops are allowed to use these to access your phone, but they can't force you to give them the PIN or pattern drawing. Be aware that could change.
● If you are trans, discuss privacy concerns with your doctor.
● Along that vein, if you're seeking an autism diagnosis *and your level of support needs can be met without it* rethink having your neurodivergence documented. The fate of disabled folks is precarious, and authoritarian/fascist movements are dangerous for us. I'm not sure if ADHD or other neurotypes are at risk, but there is historical precedence for autistics and other divergent people to be targeted.
● Protect each other: Do not out trans, queer, racialized, or any other vulnerable people in your friends groups. Note that includes any pregnant person--Whether you're excited your best friend is having another baby or your kid sister is late for her period, keep that offline. (For the love of all that's holy delete your period trackers.)
● If you know travel plans for someone to travel or move to a safer blue state, you shut the fuck up about it.
If you have further knowledge about privacy and security, add it when you forward this to friends.
I'm planning for this to become an anonymous zine/newsletter where we can distribute info under-the-radar communications network. To opt in to occasional newsletter posts,
email "add me" to [email protected], visit tumblr.com/savvydissent message via Discord or Telegram @savvydissent
Print & distribute on paper.
Share this with your contacts, and circulate it safely. Please message me to share any direct actions, mutual aid organizing, or any relevant info you want to spread. Please take good care of yourself.
