First things first, Jason is Art's nephew, on Jason's mom's side, but Jason doesn't know that since his mother kept Art out of Jason's life out of fear the boy would follow in his uncle's footsteps.

Jason grew up in Chicago, Illinois in an abusive household. His dad would abuse him while his mom loved on him after his dad went to work, leaving the boy confused on how to treat others so as he got older he was involved in toxic relationships but more on the mental and verbal side. He never lifted a hand to any of his girlfriends, that's the one thing he picked up from his mother before she died when he was in middle school, leaving him with his abusive father.

He tended to stay at friends' houses so he wouldn't have to go home to an abusive father. When he reached highschool he often would still stay at friends' houses or just stay out late and fall asleep in parks. When he became old enough he joined the Army Rangers and left for Boot Camp as soon as he could. While at boot camp he learned his father ended up getting put in prison after killing a guy in a bar fight.

From there he went to Sniper School and met Tim Gutterson and the two became best friends. After Sniper School they were assigned to the same squad and became spotters for each other, switching off on every other mission. They stayed in touch until Tim became a US Deputy. Jason soon followed after Tim's career choice going to Glynco and then joining the US Deputys in Springfield, Illinois. After getting in trouble and almost killing someone in Springfield, Jason was transferred to Lexington, Kansas.

There Jason meets Raylan and the others and even reunites with Tim. He leaves the snipping to Tim and relies more on his sidearm and choke holds, though he's the new guy he tries to stray away from any choke holds. He's a good shot but he's nothing compared to Raylan and his shooting skills.

I requested the Eldritch Delight Ragnor meeting Alec fic, which of course meant I had to reread the entire series for the umpteenth time. :) In doing so, I realized/ remembered THEY'RE ENGAGED! this eldritch delight

“You cannot be serious.”

Alec feels as if that’s one of Jace’s favorite things to say.  It certainly comes up far more often than it should, considering that no matter how many time Jace says it, Alec has always been and remains, serious.

“It’s my wedding.” Alec never thought he’d feel such devastating delight or feel the the agony of enduring each day that keeps him from marrying Magnus. “If I can’t marry Magnus in the moonlight of a hollow volcano used for necromatic rituals, then I’m going to have my lilies.”

“Lilies? Those aren’t lilies, Alec. Those are blood sucking monsters designed to look like gorgeous flowers who specifically devour nephilim blood! Over half of your guests will be nephilim.”

Alec frowns and Jace steps back and further into the sun but too bad for him, Magnus gave Alec a miniature parasol that expands upon contact with the sun.

Jace scowls a muttered, ‘unfair’ under his breathe and before he can run, a vine has crept up and thoughtfully tangled with his foot.

“What do you mean over half of the guests will be nephilim?”

“Oh Raziel, why are you like this?”

“I’ve always been like this. Why do you continually expect differently?”

Jace apparently — and for once — has nothing to say to that and so Alec steps closer and politely doesn’t shade Jace’s face from the sun, even if Jace is squinting as if the sun is blinding him.  Alec is sure he’s enjoying it like the strange being he is.

“So, as I was asking. What do you mean more than half would be nephilim? Magnus knows more people simply by virtue of being alive longer. We’ve already decided that no more than one fifth of the guests will be nephilim.  So the lilies are fine and your numbers are wrong.”

“This is going to be a political nightmare. Alec, please do you really think they’re going to be fine with the Commander and Head of New York Institute having that few nephilim guests? At his own wedding?”

Alec really thinks that Jace just likes being dramatic, because it’s clear his brother has overlooked some — what Alec considers — fairly obvious problems.

“Jace.”

And Jace stops talking and with a sigh, brings his hand up to shade his eyes — why Alec isn’t sure why since he likes the sun — and tries to meet Alec’s gaze.  It’s slightly off, which is good because Jace’s eyes are boring, they start to twitch and flicker away after only meeting Alec’s for a few seconds.

“Jace!”

That’s a strangely familiar yet unfamiliar voice and Alec turns to see a small red-head and suddenly remembers the promise he’d fulfilled with Jace.

“Oh no.” Jace doesn’t seem to realize he’s said it, his eyes focused with the intensity of a hawk on the redhead. Alec wonders if Jace thinks of her like he does his bunnies.

Well, she looks healthy enough and considering that she’s clearly escaped containment — Jace seems unduly worried at seeing her — Alec decides it’s only fair he helps. After all, maybe it will endear Jace into helping him.

Jace can only stare in fascinated horror as Clary hits the ground, unconscious even before her body drops and Alec watches her fall with an almost disappointed frown.  The black lace parasol keeping Alicante’s bright sun off his skin twirls as he tips Clary’s body over with his toe.

Like he’s touching something poisonous. 

Actually no. 

Alec would be thrilled to touch something poisonous.  He’s acting like Clary is some kind of mundane atrocity.

“Where you hoping she’d run?” Jace can’t help but ask, even as he steps forward — the vine having let him go — and helpfully picks Clary up, relieving Alec from the burden and saving Clary any further damage.

Jace makes a note to dose her with an antidote as soon as they’re done.

“She had an interesting look to her eyes. It might have been interesting.” Alec grins and Jace swallows back the instinctive bile as Alec’s maw widens.

“Look, Alec. Please, I know you dislike them but even you need to engage in politics for some things.”

“Jace this isn’t about politics. How many nephilim do you think will want to come to a Trueblood wedding? And how many do you think will come back from one?”

The thing is, it’s not a threat.

Alec seems exasperated and suddenly Jace feels ridiculous, because once again, he let the Council talk him into something ridiculous.  In fact, he’s going to quote Alec word for word because he’s right. Despite the Clave wanting a significant presence at this wedding, almost no one will show up when they realize it’s a Trueblood wedding.  They might, if it was Maryse remarrying.  However there are very few nephilim who will be willing to come for Alec’s and even fewer who would both be willing, and be able to survive.”

“I see your point. It’s a very good point and I think I’m even going to ensure it’s followed.” Because if anyone insists after Jace reminds them of Alec’s very crucial point, Jace will just kill them and let his grandmother ground him.

“Hey Jace.”

“Yeah buddy?” Jace turns and sees Alec stepping up to where a portal shouldn’t be able to form but is. Alec smirks and Jace’s spine tingles as Alec tilts his parasol just enough to let his eyes glint with the promise of a threat.

“You are going to be at my wedding and if you don’t survive, I’ll turn your bunnies into a stew for Magnus.”

Jace would have rather Alec had just said he’d be disappointed in him.  But after one time when it made him cry, Alec had decided to find different ways to threaten him… despite the fact that they still sometimes make Jace cry.

Alec's kind of awfully sweet and terrible at it too.

“Don’t lie, they’re not poisonous enough for you to turn them into stew and you like how soft they are. You’d probably just steal them and somehow accidentally turn them into carnivorous lethal bunnies and honestly, I think that’s worse. So I promise I will both attend and stay alive.”

going to say something controversial but I actually do believe Cassandra Clare when she says killing a Lightwood every series is unintentional. it's one of the Big Things people talk about when discussing who could die because a Lightwood has to die every series but I don't think that's something she necessarily thinks about?? like she's right, there's just A Lot of them in every series it makes sense it's always them when it comes to killing characters off. especially when other families like the Herondales/Fairchilds/Carstairs are endangered species in one or both of the eras and even then they get close to 4/4 (except for the Fairchilds?? I feel it's just Sebastian for them lol)

anyway the biggest sign to me this is all blown out of proportion and shouldn't be the end all of our theories is that you could say the exact same thing about the Blackthorns, just no one ever does. they also die every single series! Andrew in TMI, Rupert in TID, Arthur Livvy & Annabel in TDA and Tatiana in TLH. As for TWP, most of the remaining Blackthorns have plot armour at this point like who could she even kill? Tavvy? that's not a death that she can write lightly, and if she did go that route it would be extremely difficult to do so with rehashing a lot of stuff from Livvy's death. Plus hes the baby of the family like... thule!Ty died trying to save him even though it was impossible

anyway the thing is now is she knows about the "Lightwoods always die" thing because people love talking about it. so if a Lightwood dies in TWP it's because Cassandra Clare knows & thought it would be funny as far as I'm concerned 😭 literally painted that target on Maryse's (or Jace's or Izzy's..... i highly doubt it's Alec lol) forehead ourselves.

can we talk about andrew and arthur blackthorn backstory? because to me, everything is a little wild. andrew having not one but two children with lady nerissa while his brother gets tortured.. wasn't he aware of what was happening? and then.. andrew abandoning his 2 children and leaving with a broken arthur and subsequently marrying a woman in the span of a few years. i don't know what cassie was thinking but i guess she wanted the blackthorns traumatized at all costs (tessa and jem never cared for them and emma after all. and tessa was what, their grandmother? i don't understand why she only took in christopher and cared for jace). and why no one ever talks about eleanor blackthorn? they mention her once in a while and that's it, it's almost like she never existed and it's the same with her husband. no one is truly grieving them

To the best of my knowledge, she has yet to reveal the full family tree of the Blackthorn family, but it is known that they are directly descended from Jesse and Lucie (subsequently also from Lightwoods and Herondales, but I think there was a joke somewhere in one of the stories about how every Shadowhunter is basically related, nodding to the fact that Jace is a distant cousin of Alec and Isabelle because of their common ancestor Edmund Herondale). Tessa is something of a great-great-great grandmother of theirs, depending on how many generations there is yet unrevealed of course.

Which is why you make a great point!! It would seem, or at least I am left with the impression, that the narrative (and thus Tessa) favors male heirs of Herondales because they bear the name Herondale. But when you think about it, the only thing, the only thing that separates Jace from the current Blackthorns is the fact that he is the direct heir from the male line. But Julian and co. are direct descendants (I mean as far as I know there is no reason to assume there is some tomfoolery between Jesse and Lucie's child/children and Andrew and Arthur's generation) of Lucie and thereby of Tessa. As far as we can deduce, Julian is as related to Belial as Jace is.

The fact that the Blackthorns are the descendants of Lucie is never as much underlined as the fact that Jace is Herondale as Tessa was. The link between Tessa and Jace is made apparent but Tessa's ties to her daughter's line seems pretty ignored?

As to the whole entire mess of familial relationships, I'm not even disappointed anymore, though it bums me out that the Blackthorns and their stories relating to each other seem more fractured than cohesive, continuous line. Most of the time I don't trust Clare's judgement or values in presenting what a family in general is. There are the strange expressions that anyone with a more or less functional family would find even a bit weird (if anything). Here is also a post that touches on the topic of Jem and Emma a little, the point being: things are the way they are for the sake of convenience and little to no thought.

Referring to "traumatized at all costs", it's honestly like a lifeline in the creation of every main character or Clare's. In one of her blog responses (that I later made somewhat fun of), Clare mentioned, maybe partly in jest, that deceased parents are a good basis for the main character (or something). If this is the basis on which the creation of relationships between characters works, it is not surprising that every parent-child relationship remains strangely distant. Or forgotten!

Clary and Jocelyn's relationship mimics a close mother-daughter relationship, but in reality, Jocelyn is as distant a parent as anyone else. The plot of the books doesn't allow for a truly close relationship, as parents are a hindrance, if not an outright obstacle, on the dangerous adventures of teenagers. Maybe it's meant to reflect the strange aspect of Shadowhunter culture, but again, I don't trust Clare's judgement or capabilities to that extent to give such credit.

Similar discrepancy is present with Gabriel having a dead mother versus Will having a dead sister. Albeit the circumstances were different, both deaths were tragic and emotionally violent. Yet Will's perspective is given a massive weight, and Gabriel's emotional life and motivations are ignored in the face of that. On post about the side characters of TID, I said about Gabriel that

[Gabriel] is not written wallowing in angst for the sake of his nightmares or his family falling apart or his mother’s suicide (oddly?). The week he spent in fear of his father finally going mad with the disease is played as a punchline to a joke Will’s been on about for the whole series so far. Moreover, it is a scene where none of the other characters show Gabriel the plentiful sympathy that is shown to, well, any of the London Institute. In comparison, Will and Tessa’s pains are always made abundantly clear, and to enhance the image of their endless torment and incredible pain there is always another character to validate it. There is no ten-page ruminating over Gabriel’s experiences or feelings or emotional life when he deals the kill blow to his father. This versus Will living in torment for thinking it’s on him that his sister is dead.

Which, in case of Andrew, Eleanor, and Arthur, it seems those points were similarly left unrealized by Clare. Or too far removed from the main events that she did not see it necessary to deal with (though these very intimately relate to Julian and his experiences???). I also greatly disliked how Arthur's character was treated in TDA, though I understand Julian's side of things as well. Though Arthur's presence was mostly tied to Julian as he kept his uncle hidden on purpose, it's strange in retrospect how little Arthur, his death, and all the things that made his life a tragedy were mostly forgotten by everyone after he was no longer around. He left no other mark on the story other than being partly the cause for Julian's helicopter parenting.

And Andrew, for what little is seen or known of him, seems more carefree and unbothered than I would find responsible? :'D

Abram has certified protective big brother energy, but since he isn’t a big brother this goes to his girl friends at college instead. Palmetto is a safe campus, but he (and Elliot by association) still always end up getting their girl friends back to the dorms safely no matter what. I’m talking if two of their friends are fucked up before he even gets there he will leave the bar 10 minutes in just to get them home and then come BACK. (this is based on my sisters friend at lsu and it’s so wholesome)

Abram’s relationship with Neil is interesting bc he’s growing up as Neil is traveling in the pros in his late 20’s. However, Neil visits whenever it’s convenient and once he gets in the groove of this whole godfather thing he treats Abram like he’s his uncle bc he sees how Andrew is with Aaron’s girls. He keeps up with his schedule when he starts playing little leagues and makes Dan send pictures. She sends first day of school updates and a picture of a little Abram missing his two front teeth.

Abram gets a Josten Court jersey and wears it until it stinks. He gets new ones when he outgrows them. By his third one Matt gets him a huge one to grow into as a grown man. He does indeed grow into it.

Neil sends him post cards with a little letters written inside when he’s 4 and Abram loves it so much that Dan facetime’s Neil like 2 weeks after he got the first one but it’s just Abram’s face all up in the camera. “When will I get anover wetter, uncle Neil?” “Oh!” instant delight “It must still be in the mail, buddy, but just keep an eye on the mailbox, okay?” “Okay… do you wanna see your wetter?! I put it on my wall, uncle Neil!”

Neil is the first to start calling him B, firstly bc calling someone else Abram is something he has to get used to. Secondly because Abram acknowledges it as Neil’s nickname and stubbornly doesn’t let anyone else call him it.

Matt retires from exy at like 32 when Abram is 3. Matt’s exy team loyalties lie where his friends are at, so Matt, Jace, and Abram make it a thing to watch every game. Abram can’t keep track of Neil is and gets frustrated by it. Matt mentions it while laughing, two games later Neil has the butt of his stick wrapped in orange. After that Abram keeps saying, “Ope, there’s uncle Neil again …. There’s- I see orange, Daddy! …. There he goes again! …. Look! Uncle Neil!!”

Andrew may have been the one humanizing Neil, but Abram is the one who softens him.

Abram used to hold onto Addie or Annie’s hands and just follow them around at Fox reunions, which got more frequent throughout the years and is why/how the fox kids all got close.

Abram plays minecraft but just creative mode. He likes adventure or sports videogames while his brother likes Call of Duty and whatnot.

As a teenager, Abram and Neil text so much and talk on the phone a lot. About exy, about French help bc he’s learning it in school, about some fantasy show that Abram somehow got Neil into, about sports and college applications and when he can come visit again. And then about who these new kids in Neil’s house are and are they gonna stay a while? should we add them to the cousin gc? hey how’s elliot doing? and hey can you send me elliot’s number? and if i’m doing all this hard work to keep the strikers away the least our strikers could do is do something with the ball i keep getting to them, anyway, are you guys bringing blake and elliot to thanksgiving? i’m excited to meet them. and i know ur gonna be weird if i ask you about guys but im pretty sure i have a crush on one and im kinda freaking out and im scared to tell my parents and-

Matt is so loving when he comes out to him and Dan, hugging Abram really tight and just telling him he loves him and he’s so proud of him and Abram cries a little.

The first time he kisses a boy (bc crushes are only from afar) it’s freshman year of college and it’s because he starts looking at Elliot too often for too long and needs to get that shit out of his head bc that’s his best friend.

Abram has lunch with Dan like twice a month because she tries to stay out of his hair since she’s the exy coach at PSU.

When he and Elliot get together he finds he loves to wrap Elliot up in his clothes.

Elliot goes to all of his home games with their friends and cheers obnoxiously. Abram loves it. He also… fucks Elliot while he wears his soccer jersey.

He is definitely a gentle giant, but once he and Elliot get together he throws that boy AROUND in the bedroom.

Jocelyn runs away with Johnathan after actually witnessing the death of Valentine, he grows up with her and Clary and despite the demon blood he's mostly human and a great brother. They both go to the mortal school and attend the institute. so they're friends with Simon and they know the Lightwoods since ever. Jace was known as Stephen's son and Imogen wants him to grow up in Idris, but when he is 18 he goes to NY and he meets Clary. they immediately fall in love

Simon grows up knowing about the shadow world and he becomes a shadowhunter at 14 so he and Clary can become parabatai when they're young, they were never a couple and he's the biggest fan of Clace. he's in love with Isabelle since he can remember but he's to afraid to admit it, until she's fed up and tells him she feels the same

before Jace's arrival the gang (Simon, Clary, Izzy and Johnathan) was always together and looking for troubles, like every teenager, and they always went to Magnus' parties. Alec always refused to go, but one day his sister calls him to come and pick them up (completely drunk) and he meets Magnus. the rest is history

since Sebastian never existed, neither Andrew Blackthorn nor Emma's parents were killed (because luckily they have a meeting with Andrew THAT morning), so Emma and Julian grow up together in LA, they want to become parabatais but at 14 they realize they're actually in love and they can live they're beautiful love story without any burden

at 18 Mark has to investigate a mistery for the Clave (=the strange deaths Emma investigates in TDA, there's a leak that the Unseelie Court is involved) and he takes part of the Wild Hunt and meets Kieran. they don't become a couple, since Mark is undercover and knows what he can and can't do, but they fall in love anyway. once Mark goes back to LA, after what he thinks it's been 6 months, it's actually 3 years (nobody looked for him because how different the time flows), he meets Cristina, there for her year abroad. Kieran runs away from the Wild Hunt for Mark, but he's protected from the Unseelie King and the Wild Hunt because he helped solving the mistery. again, the rest is history

2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?

Peregrine: he’s a theater kid! he wanted to be a bard soooo bad or at least multiclass a la Fabian but due to the [gestures at his neuroses around his masculinity] he never did. i think in terms of levels, he ended up a level 20 fighter until he did some paladin training as an adult that put him at like, a 17/3 split between fighter/paladin. in a kinder timeline he’d be doing community theater and taxes with jace. in blood and turpentine. well no spoilers for what im currently writing but it’s not that.   

Dagbert: out of everyone in the group hes the one thats into musicals unironically. and not even good musicals. like picture this massive goliath that’s taller than porter and just as broad, i think i have him as like 7 ft 1, and he just fucking loves Cats. he’s obsessed with fantasy andrew lloyd webber. has a jellicle-sona. 

Ysvelde: she’s somehow got even less of a solid grasp of her identity than jace does. part of it is that she’s an actress, part of it is that she’s never really lived for anything besides the approval of other people (first her mom, then her adventuring party). she has no idea who she is without the approval of others. if you put her in a room alone she’d start climbing the walls instead of sitting alone with her own thoughts. girl who is constantly experiencing The Dread but she covers it up with a winning smile + really cool artsy makeup. 

Aurora: [dan howell voice] one time she had a MESSY night out in [bastion city], kissed a GIRL, and SMOKED A CIGARETTE. no but seriously she has a secret wild side that she rarely lets out, especially as she gets more and more into fundamentalism and what she believes is sol’s true word, the very early beginnings of the harvestmen cult. during their first year adventuring, shes the one that suggested matching tramp stamps while they were all wasted. 

Invidia: she’s a romantic. she really does want her friends to find love. she’s at aurora and peregrine’s wedding as a bridesmaid, and when she realizes that jace and porter are serious about each other, she’s genuinely happy for him. underneath all the cattiness and jokes she’s so glad that everything “worked out” (woman who does not know jace is a dead man walking)

10. What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?

not to keep talking about this but my infidelity fic which is an au of blood and turpentine? i have so many dramatic scenes from it that i rotate in my head. when peregrine finds out that jace got promoted to vice principal and starts a huge fight about it. dagbert’s father’s funeral. invidia and ysvelde’s falling out. when peregrine finds out about jace’s affair and subsequently gets murdered by porter. aurora’s creepy midsommar-ass family hosting everyone for fantasy easter. 

11. What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?

Peregrine: a lance!! by the time he’s a full-time adventurer i’m sure it’s a magical weapon too, probably has like a +2 or something. hes definitely used it before love a martial class. 

Dagbert: his battle axe, absolutely has used it. he’s definitely got a magic weapon too, i think i call out in love’s never meant much to me that it has magic runes on it so yeah let’s call it the same level of magical as perry’s lance

Ysvelde: so she’s a college of eloquence bard and a fiend pact warlock, so i think she probably has a shortsword as a backup weapon but honestly that eldritch blast cantrip is getting her through most of her fights juuuust fine. 

Aurora: circle of life cleric, definitely has a crossbow that she’s used a couple times in a panic early on but she’s more a healer than anything. i picture her spiritual weapon (the cleric spell) as a scythe. 

Invidia: she’s a circle of the moon druid so i think she’d have a pair of broad claws that do some sick slashing damage, plus obviously her wild shape forms, and her animal companion (a wolf but for funsies ive flavored it as a husky named luna and she loves her so much, she treats her like a child, has little bows to put in her fur, etc. luna is fantasy instagram famous)

14. How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?

ohhhh this is sosososo juicy 

Peregrine: the true driving force in his life is to be seen as a protector, as a provider, as a good fighter and a good man. he will Freak Out if he perceives anything as getting in the way of that. especially if its his own actions that make him look weak or immoral in any way, i.e. sleeping with jace when he and aurora are on a break. 

Dagbert: truly. genuinely. from the bottom of his heart. he could not give less of a shit. he wants to be known as a goddamn professional, unlike the rest of these people, apparently. he’s out here trying to earn a fucking paycheck meanwhile everyone else in his party is ensnared in insane psychosexual drama. he’s angling to get a raise to buy out his ailing father’s construction business from him and let the man retire and this clownshow of a party is fucking it up for him.

Ysvelde: she’s not real unless youre clapping and cheering for her if you dont clap and cheer for her she’ll die. she lives and dies on the approval of an audience. she’s a star. but like for real she needs validation constantly, it doesnt matter where it comes from or how she gets it, she just needs to know that she’s getting a good grade in existing, something normal to want and possible to achieve. 

Aurora: her main thing is being right. she’s a cleric, she receives the divine word from sol, she’s his hand upon the world and she’ll spread his light to the darkest corners of spyre and consecrate it for him, make the world holy. she has her convictions and is firm in them, and she wants everyone to see her as a source of good and truth, both in battle and in spirituality. i think after a certain point she couldnt care less what her party thinks of her, she’s mainly looking for the approval of higher-ups in the church of sol to further solidify herself as a priestess and help shape the vision and direction of the church. 

Invidia: her and aurora butt heads a lot because she also is very into being correct, but in a way that is entirely divorced from divinity. instead, she wants other people to see her as observant to a scary degree. she wants you to know that she sees what you do, knows your habits inside and out, all your secrets, and is taking notes and filing them away for blackmail purposes. and when you slip up she WILL brag about predicting your downfall to your face. it’s why she and jace are the ivy-and-oisin of their party, they both love gossip and reveling in the misery of people they dont like.

see. this is actually so hard because where do you even start with least favourite?? like do you go by how much you hate them or how indifferent you are about characters — those are totally different things! I despise Valentine but he is a least favourite? he's a villian doing is job within the story well & I think about him all the time because of that! feels a bit wrong to say he's a least favourite yknow? there's also characters who suck but are funny or their misfortune brings me enjoy (like Benedict <3)

anyway, after much internal debate I'm going to be choosing characters whose presence mostly just pisses me off idk

5. Axel Mortmain — he's here because he's such a non character for no reason & it annoys me. I literally had to look up how to spell his name because he's so deeply irrelevant, even in the very series he's the main antagonist of. should be a crime to be this boring honestly like you forget he exists the moment he's not on the page (something CC has also fallen victim to when she forgot to include him in Clockwork Prince despite the fact the title literally refers to him 💀)

4. Jordan Kyle — booooooooo tomato tomato 🍅🍅🍅 something Simon or Maia will think about him & it will get to me & for a moment i like him until i remember who he is and that he sucks! I'm pretty sure Maia's age got changed at some point but whatever it's still weird

3. Hodge Starkweather — he's so pathetic it's painful to read 😭 honestly the more I reread the series over time the less sympathy I have for him because yes his situation was unfair and sucked but Jesus Christ the way he's always the victim in his head. he never actually owns up to anything he did & this is most obvious when looking at how he treats Jace & is in denial about his identity (you know damn well which baby that is, you did murder his mother after all)

2. Andrew Blackthorn — I'm his number one hater but I'm never actually sure if CC intended for him to be hated. like is he supposed to be complicated but an ultimately positive figure? lots of people definitely like him/think favourly about him and I know this because they always disagree with my hater posts where I'm interpreting his actions in the way that makes him look the worst. idc I will be continuing because I know in my heart he abandoned Helen & Mark in Faerie on purpose & is therefore on this list

1. Belial — and in first place we have the one & only King of London! world's most nonsensical villian who's character seems to be trying to be many things at once (funny, for example) but fails at all of them <3 also he creates so many plot holes & I'm not entirely confident they'll be fixed in twp (although I really hope that is the case)

thinking so hard about jace being the andrew lloyd webber to j2’s sarah brightman. augh. when j2’s always over at jace’s home for “private working sessions” so jace can “help j2 with his songwriting” or something. thats clearly just a thinly veiled excuse to keep j2 to himself for a week

I like how no matter what universe we stick J2 in, his brain never stops getting cooked. Lord Andy's whole "i am a weird old guy and going to foster the talent of this young ingenue b/c she's a genius and only i can see it" thing is like. Hm. I wonder why you were drawn to phantom. Anyway peace and love to sarah brightman but i think he mostly. was a little preoccupied by the fact that he's an old guy who had a thing for her. Am i being a total asshole to posit that. Like. Actually J2's instincts are good for real and he is talented (he might even be better than jace. B/c this is metaphor for spellcasting)

And they do get a lot of working done in those sessions but like they get a lot of other stuff done too. obviously.

And as usual i think J2 is convinced the others are not gonna care about him or that LJ3 are too busy breathing into each others mouths to notice so he's like if i just spend a week at Jaceporter's place who is gonna notice. J4. J4 is gonna notice. She comes barging in like hey you went no contact for a week and he's like we've literally been working on the album?? check this out. And she’s baffled but also gets distracted by talking music shop.

Anyway this kinda feels parallel to J2porter 50s housewife roleplay but like the opposite b/c J2 is a houseguest but like you know how he is. He's like squirming over being the least bit of an imposition and refuses to even ask for a glass of water b/c he doesn't want to be a bother. Jaceporter are like help yourself and he always manages to find the oldest, weirdest cup nobody uses at the very back of the cabinet as a drinking glass. He tries to clean and do the dishes out of guilt meanwhile Jace through grit teeth is like Porter if you let J2 near the sink i will kill you. (He doesn't really give a shit about j2 but will be damned if they're not gonna be good hosts). He ran out of things to wear b/c it was so impromptu and Jace would never let it show but he is ecstatic b/c now it means he gets to treat J2 like his own personal little dress up doll and fawn over him a bit. (he lets J2 keep some of it or gives it as a gift but not without making a comment abt it being like. Well i no longer have any use for this anyway. I suppose it can be yours. b/c he's jace)

As mentioned in the socmed au, Elliot has ADHD, dyslexia, and anxiety.

Abram helps Elliot’s ADHD a lot when they start living together freshman year of college because his patience is unrivaled. He doesn’t get bothered by Elliot losing track of his point mid-speech or excessive talking, or when he’s easily distracted.

When Elliot is unable to sit still or starts fiddling (aka picking at his nails) Abram will give him his hand to fiddle with instead (and it makes Abram’s chest flutter) and will actually limit him to 10 minutes when he gets hyper-focused on a task and says “one more minute” bc it’s never one more minute.

Amalia doesn’t always look indian to people (based off my google search that Muldani is an indian surname) and she gets pissed off when people ignorantly decide point it out. She likes jokingly pulling the brown skin card to the other fox kids as a power move: “Annie go grab the TV remote” “You grab it” “Is it because I’m brown? Are you being racist?”. She pulls it with Kevin too but he does not put up with it.

Annie is such a daddy’s girl that when Andrew babysits them as little girls she clings to him all day and follows him around with her little hand in his. It’s jarring for him the first time she does it.

Jace treats Elliot like a little brother and it’s very wholesome and needed. The Boyd’s only live 25 minutes from Andriel so Jace and Abram see a lot of Elliot and Blake once Andriel folds them into their lives.

It takes Blake a while to let go of her mother hen tendencies over Elliot bc of how they were raised.

It also takes Blake one single week living with them to realize that they are not only retired pro Exy athletes, but literal gold medalists. She does a deep dive on them on the internet and freaks out a bit when she reads the stuff about Neil’s past. Neil is very open with her about it and offers to have them housed somewhere else if she felt unsafe, but also that she arguably could not be more safe than with him and Andrew.

Jace has a peanut allergy. In 3rd grade he tried peanut butter at school bc good dammit he wanted to try it. It was very good but he immediately went over to the lunch aide to get his epipen. Matt picks him up from school and is in awe that no no, this was not an accident.

Due to being raised in Georgia (where Matt got drafted and Dan coached high school) and then South Carolina when Matt retired early, Jace & Abram have slight southern accents.

Naturally this makes Elliot shiver every time Abram calls him baby (or sugar in private).

When Sabrina is 19 her and Addie decide to take a break from their long distance queerplatonic relationship bc Addie didn’t know what she wanted, and Sabrina ends up dating Drew Barrymore’s daughter Olive for 6 months. Drew and Sabrina keep in contact amicably afterwards.
