people will be like "oh aspd/npd makes people evil! it's so scary!" and then you see someone with those disorders and they're literally just a guy

This does clear it up a bit for me actually.
i've seen quite a bit of confusion about this, so let me attempt to clear things up :
empathy is the ability to feel somebody's emotions as though they are affecting you personally. for example, somebody tells you "my dog died last night!" -> you now feel as though you've lost a pet personally -> you feel grief and sadness just like the other person. not everyone has empathy. it's a trait some people develop and others don't. some have high empathy, some have low empathy, some (like me) have none.
sympathy is the ability to understand and care about somebody else's struggles, even if you don't feel them yourself. so, somebody tells you their dog died -> you realize how this affects them emotionally -> you care about this person, and are upset that they are suffering. not everyone has sympathy either! it's a scale, just like empathy.
compassion is doing something to relieve another person's suffering or make them feel better. somebody tells you their dog died -> you don't want them to remain upset -> you come up with ways to help them feel better, like offering comfort and distractions, or other forms of support. compassion is a learned trait, not something you can be born with like empathy or sympathy. anyone can learn to be compassionate, although some may struggle more with it than others; it's a skill, just like anything else.
however, none of these are required to be a good person. that's a choice you make on your own accord. i hope this clears things up!

Having empathy is morally neutral. Not having empathy is morally neutral. Having high empathy is morally neutral. Having low empathy is morally neutral.
Empathy is not what makes you a good or bad person. Actions do, feeling don't.

When Bedelia told Will he was addicted to Hannibal's attention, what she really meant was: you like being the ASPD exception person, don't you, you little shit

I have ASPD, diagnosed, and I think too many people with this disorder use it as an excuse to be shitty people. I might not physically feel empathy or guilt, but I still know right from wrong and still want to have a positive impact on the world rather than a negative one. We aren't exempt from morality just because we're unaffected by other people's emotions

fellow narcissists, sociopaths, and psychopaths,
we're going to hear those words being thrown around a lot over the next few years. more than we already do, which is not an insubstantial amount. i want you to remember that you are not monsters, or fascists, or scum.
as more and more people throw around diagnoses they do not care to understand and words that they do not see as harmful, i want you all to remember that you are not alone and that the entire world is not against you.
there are people out there who care and understand and are not afraid. you are not alone, and you are not unloved.
dont let them make you fearful of yourself, you deserve so much better than that.
stay safe

a random thought but somewhat of an ASPD post.
due to my disorders, mostly my ASPD, i frequently feel like a monster masquerading as a man.
like i’m just an entity trying to mimic any fragment of humanity to appear ‘normal’ to people on the outside and to hide the symptoms that people scrutinise those like myself for having.
a monster in a human skinsuit, doing its best to recreate what it sees as if it’s entire existence is just one big performance to bury the parts of itself that humanity despises.

NPD and ASPD combo hits. (yes, i have those two disorders as well!) i should be allowed to kill whoever i dislike. their opinions and things they say just out right disgusts me and gives me a headache. their opinions need to be corrected. there are some people i genuinely want dead ranging from because they said something i didnt like, were ableist/homophobic/transphobic/etc, to because they breathed at me the wrong way. i hate feeling controlled and feeling powerless over this because im forced to exist among people i hate. DONT even get me started on whenever i express my hatred and someone around me goes "theyre probably going through something too!" sure, they probably are- if they are, i will not deny any abuse or situation they are going through either, but the thing is I DONT CARE. when i hate somebody i am unsympathetic and unempathetic and i dont care what happens to them.
haha that turned out longer than expected. anyway tldr i want to kill everyone i hate pretty much

btw guys managing your symptoms also means apologizing for things you didn't mean to do. sometimes you do things because of your disorders that you genuinely didn't mean to do, but if it hurt someone you still have to take accountability and make up for the hurt you caused
