I wish not having friends wasn’t seen as such a loser, weirdo, and lame thing. I wish having a lack of emotion and empathy wasn’t seen as creepy or cruel. I wish being aplatonic and not having platonic attraction or being aromantic and not having romantic attraction wasn’t seen as some undesirable thing.
I’m not a robot. I’m not boring and uninteresting. I just experience the world around us much differently to you. I’ve seen things you couldn’t even dream of. I’ve experienced things you wouldn’t wish on anybody.

What do you mean by aplatonicism?
Oh, if someone’s aplatonic, it can mean a variety of things! A basic definition is that they don’t experience platonic attraction or experience it rarely or only under certain circumstances, much like other aspec identities. Aplatonic, however, could also mean they don’t really feel platonic love the same way others do or relate to most experiences of friendship. It could relate to a lack of desire for friends, trouble making friends, whatever!
Aplatonicism is not as cut and dry as aromanticism or asexuality (though those aren’t super cut and dry themselves). What it means to be aplatonic and why someone may identify with the label isn’t exactly as concrete as other labels.
I personally use the label as I rarely experience platonic attraction and general my platonic relationships are just… off, more shallow, and don’t genuinely involve an emotional bond. I also use it as I have no active desire for friendships and am perfectly unaffected whenever said friendships ends. I’d definitely encourage looking into it more on your own as I can’t give all the answers! Thanks for asking!

I love going into the aplatonic tag and seeing "this post contains filtered content: ace asexual" like twice as much as actual posts about aplatonicism. Very fun very cool

aspec culture is realising that the reason i could never communicate what i want in a relationship is that i dont. i dont want any of it.

So apparently people can form strong deep bonds with people, and feel on the same wavelength as specific others. That is....um apparently something that is the norm to feel, and all I have got to say to that is,
WHAT THE FUCK

No imo today sorry 💔
In fact, total break from the usual focus of my content lol no narcissism at all (though I’m still using some of the tags for the sake of reach. I’ve noticed a nice little overlap between aplatonicism and npd/npd traits, lmao)
Today—ironically by request of my friends—I felt like making a new/alternate design for the aplatonic flag because I’ve never liked the standard one very much. I wasn’t fond of the colours, which is fine, but the meanings also rubbed me the wrong way? Take a look at what I mean:
Tumblr media
It just feels weird to me to design it based around what we aren’t, as well as how we can “make up” for our aplatonicism, so to speak. I don’t think that was the intention. but I dislike it all the same.
Anyway, here’s my own design:
Tumblr media
Meanings:
Pink & green - friending and nonfriending aplatonics, placed next to each other to show solidarity
White - joy in one’s aplatonic identity; mirrors the white stripe on many aspec flags
Grey - greyplatonics and demiplatonics, like on other aspec flags
Black - finishes the white-grey-black gradient present in other aspec flags; represents aspec community and aplatonicism as a whole :3
hopefully I’ll do another imo thing soon. If not, uhhh… Whoops!

Being asexual, aromantic or aplatonic is powerful, you reject one of the main things society is built upon.

The third panel is of the same snake in the first panel, with furrowed brows, saying ". . . um... no???". The last panel has the other snake, who looks very shocked.
