Got an idea, it’s been plaguing my mind for weeks now. Know genshin cult au? Well take the sagau out of it and add in honkai star rail!

Cult au with the Aeon’s and their darlings. The followers of the different aeons are the cult members. Some cults have one darling while others having multiple. The only thing completely the same being the fact that the Aeons are the one’s choosing the darlings(only being chosen by their followers if they of course physically cannot like Idrila or Akivili)

Right now I'm gonna only do the aeon’s that I’m familiar with and also smut warning but it probably won’t be accurate as I am asexual and never actually had sex before. Also this will technically be non-con as its a cult and very heavy themes of yandere with violence genocide having your loved ones be killed right in front of you,forced worship, gaslighting, manipulation, and a messed up viewpoint of ‘taking care of someone’ so please don’t read if your not comfortable with this.

First I’d have to start with akivili themselves. It might be a little bit disappointing to you but they would be the least concerning of all the possible cults. The trailblazers quite literally are travelers so they’re darling is not trapped, akivili likely only had one darling who he adventures with and that's the only darling the nameless have. The real only yandere part of this is the fact that the nameless are all overprotective. Akivili had been overprotective but still wouldn’t do anything as they loved the trailblaze, when they mysteriously vanished the darling stayed behind and still helped the nameless do their trailblazing. When the train broke down darling fell into a coma until himeko found the train and repaired it. Now the trailblazers defy the norms and actually set off to free all the darlings eternally trapped in the depths of the aeons clutches.

Now everything after this gets serious.

Let's start with lan the hunt.

Lan has no official main darling, he marks those who he deems either worthy or vulnerable. And the xianzhou alliance hunts them down and brings them to the xianzhou. Instead of normally getting married like normal people the people who can hunt down those marked by the hunt can marry them-even multiple of these darlings if can get multiple of them(lets just say jing yuan and Feixiao have many darlings-collect them like cat) the purpose is to show everyone that your the strongest because you’ve proven yourself the most to the hunt by collecting the most darlings. What you do with the darlings is up to the person who captured them. They say the general jing yuan has gotten many of his darlings pregnant as proof of his victory, feixiao’s darlings are known for not being able to walk after a night with her. All the darlings are usually covered head to toe in all sorts of hickeys and bite marks as proof of the cultists victory. Very rough treatment that the darlings go through.

Not nearly as rough as the darlings of Nanook have to endure though. Nanook believed that the universe is a mistake, everything except for their darlings of course. The less than a handful of darlings that Nanook chose. The followers of Nanook are only allowed to have the darling that Nanook himself picked out. Nanook himself is very cruel to his darlings but he sees it as “showing them the truth” He’ll kill one of his darlings entire family in front of them while having one of his followers eat them out to slowly train them into thinking that annihilating the universe is the best possible thing to do. Other than completely destroying everything that they love he treats the darlings like kings or queens and their followers obviously picking up on this and replicating this.

Now weirdly enough I’m thinking a lot about the Aeon Idrila, I’d imagine before her disappearance or death? Whatever happened to her, she was an aeon who actually took a lover rather than a darling. However, upon her not being there anymore her followers became delusional and thought they had to trap and contain beauty or else it’ll leave them just like idrila did. The knights of beauty are the only cultists in the universe that actually choose their darlings because idrila can’t. On new years eve they track down the most beautiful girl/boy they can find, kidnap them, then forcibly pleasure them until they’ve reached the pinnacle of beauty that they could make and then encase them in resin so they’ll never look any different-with a pleasure toy stuck on one of there most sensitive spots so they still feel pleasure even after being encased eternally. It also would’ve been super cool if Idrila had a main darling who was actually her lover but was kidnapped by the knights of beauty after her disappearance because they were afraid to lose idrilas last living proof of having existed, so after new years all 364 days are spent maintaining and upholding the main darling’s beauty-making them even more beautiful with endless pampering, lotions, and beauty care products. They’re also always overstimulated out of there mind because theres nothing more beautiful than someone constantly about to orgasm-according to the knights of beauty of course.

For the preservation I’d like to imagine that the main darling of Qlipoth is on the run from the IPC because they’ve long abandoned the will of the preservation but still pretend like they didn’t. Of course losing the main darling must’ve been the most humiliating thing possible so the IPC has kept it under wraps in the excuse that the main darling is ‘sick’ while secretly trying to hunt them down. They've come disgustingly close to getting the main darling and once they do the main darling is never going to see the light of day again. On the side note the other darlings are usually kept as pets or sugar babies. Sometimes the pet play gets a little too intense…

I'm going to end on the harmony because God that'd be a nightmare. Darlings of the harmony are chosen by xipe when they've been abused, hurt, or are in disharmony. Claiming that they need ‘help’. These darlings used to get actual help like therapy or a better opportunity to life but ever since the order became more prevelant they're now taken from there homes and kept under the ‘protection’ of the family. The family is there to bring them to ‘harmony’ which includes mind control, chains, and an endless amount of orgasms. One thing that is disappointing is the fact that people never talk about just how horrifying the harmony is, like you could be on the brink of orgasming and the harmony can make any pleasure you feel 10 times more intense and unavoidable, add the order and you can orgasm without ever even being touched. So intense you can't even remember your own name anymore. some ‘unruly’ darlings might even be drugged to the point there high out of there mind and can't even coherently think. The darlings of the harmony may be kept in gilded dreams and paradise but freedom stopped being an option.

One day a young singer named Robin found herself asking; ‘when did the harmony become less like the harmony and more like the order’

Thinking about Star Rail lore again, and I have to wonder, where are all the peaceful followers of the Abundance? Where are all the humanitarian (or whatever you call it in a setting with many different species) groups?

Because they should exist; if any Path is going to draw in ordinary people who simply want to make the universe a better place, it's the Abundance. There should be groups like Médecins Sans Frontières, roaming around and providing aid to victims of wars, natural disasters, pandemics, etc. There should be environmentalist groups dedicated to repairing unstable biospheres and terraforming barren planets. Pathstriders of Abundance would be highly sought-after in medical and agricultural careers. One of the few examples we do have in canon, the original Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, were notable for building apothecaries to help the poor, and did a lot of work to modernise the Xianzhou's healthcare system.

Unfortunately, I think there's a rather simple and depressing answer to this question: the Xianzhou. They're one of the most powerful factions around, and despite being ostensibly the good guys, can be quite merciless. Look at what they were willing to do to a single pacifist Borisin on a diplomatic mission, for example. So, it's likely a lot of smaller Abundance factions ended up as collateral damage in the Xianzhou's grand crusade; and now the only truly organized followers of the Abundance left are the few small groups "allowed" to remain...and the most militant extremist factions. Which the Xianzhou can then point to as justification for their war. And with how the IPC exploited Sigonia and the Avgin in the wake of the genocide they suffered, I doubt they'd bother to step in. The original Disciples, who became the Cold Springs Sect, were said to have been looked upon with pity until they abandoned their worship of Yaoshi, but with the ongoing wars, there was likely a lot of pressure on them - and possibly even threats made against them - to conform. And there's probably similar societal pressure applied against smaller groups like the Elixir Seekers and the Unshackled. After all, we've seen time and time again in the modern age what governments will do to minority groups they view as sympathetic to their enemies.

So we're left with underground rebel groups like the modern Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, and the Denizens of Abundance and the Borisin Packs whom the Xianzhou are perpetually at war with. And yes, the Denizens are a threat and the Borisin are marauding slavers and the Disciples worked with Phantylia. They all need to be stopped, and the Xianzhou are in a position to do that.

But the point of this is, it's quite likely that the history of the Hunt's war with the Abundance is a lot more nuanced than the black-and-white Hunt = Good, Abundance = Bad story that the Xianzhou like to present to the universe. The point is that, even in a justified war, innocents will get caught in the line of fire.

No Path or Aeon is inherently good or evil. Yes, even Nanook. THEY are all concepts or ideals taken to the logical extreme; more akin to forces of nature than anything else. Lan may eradicate dangerous monsters from the universe, but THEY have a habit of shooting through their own followers to do so, and the thought of what THEY might do without Yaoshi to focus THEIR wrath on is quite worrying. Yaoshi, for THEIR part, simply does not know when to stop and creates horrors as a result - but THEY and THEIR Path have a lot of capacity for doing good, as well.

Yk, the aeons in honkai star rail really seem to come in pairs

The Hunt & the Abundance - Life and Death (cycle of life) - This one is the most explicitly stated in game, with the followers of the hunt hunting down the abominations of abundance on the xianzhou

The Destruction & The Preservation - Ties to entropy, perhaps? - this one is fairly obvious the preservation preserves things and the destruction destroys.

The Erudition & The Enigmata - Knowledge and Mysteries - This one is also one of the more obvious ones, what the genius society works to document, the History Fictionologists work to obscure

The Harmony & the Elation - Unity and Chaos - This one seems to come out in penacony the most, with sparkle doing a terrorism and disrupting the peace.

The Beauty & The Nihility - Meaningful and Meaningless - The followers of the Beauty strive to see the beauty in everything, in all life, death, journeys and destinations, while followers of the Nihility believe that everything is meaningless

The Propagation & The Voracity - Production and Consumption - The Voracity was all about consumption, ravenging worlds in endless hunger, while the Propagation was all about endless reproduction. In other words, endless hunger and an endless food source.

The Trailblaze & The Finality - The Journey and the Destination - This is one that I'm less confident about, but the trailblaze is all about the journey of charting new paths and revisiting old ones, while the finality is all about, well, the final destination.

The Remembrance & The Permanence - Mind and Matter - This is the weakest one, but I'll describe it the best I can. The Rememberance is all about memories and collecting them, and storing them. The Permanence is all about keeping the state of the world permanent. The Remembrance seeks to preserve the minds/memories, while the Permanence seeks to preserve the physical state of the world.

This leaves 2 left, which are unpaired.

The Order - The Order has technically been assimilated into the Harmony, so perhaps it doesnt have a pair?

The Equilibrium - Maybe the equilibrium can be paired with itself? I'll have to look into the lore for the equilibrium but that's the only explanation I can think of.

The joker of the deck: Aha the Elation (and some Swarm Disaster lore)

While reading through swarm disaster lore (again), Herta popped up during a moment discussing the disappearance of Oroboros the Voracity, noting that some entity was interfering with the simulation. Which got me thinking about Aha. Again.

Having played through Swarm Disaster’s entire story twice now, I can’t help but think that whatever role Aha the Elation has to play, is going to be incredibly important. Or at least entertaining.

Aha is the only self-aware Aeon in the Simulated Universe. Despite the team’s efforts to tamper down on it, Aha continues to be self-aware, toying with you and the creators each time they appear. It’s heavily implied that simulated Aha is actively interfering with Herta, Screwllum and Ruan Mei’s work to understand the Aeons, being present each time the Aeons schemed to destroy Tayzzyronth the Propagation.

Aha freely admits to infiltrating the Astral Express for a year just to find the perfect moment to blow the train up. Why? To mess with Akivili and their followers.

Aha is the Aeon closest involved with the ways of mortals, and while it lacks the magnitude of directly devastating powers such as the Destruction or the Hunt, it doesn’t lack for ability to turn fate on a whim — Aha has directly influenced or been involved in rebellions, government coups, deaths of Aeons and is one of the only (so far) Aeons confirmed to shapeshift to a human when it suits their needs.

In fact, it’s heavily implied Sampo is a follower of Aha (if not more?) and when you think about Sampo’s involvement in Belobog’s storyline, he shows up at precise moments, barely does anything, and yet alters some extremely pivotal details that changes everything, above all dragging Bronya down to see the truth of Belobog. At the end of the Belobog arc, Sampo reports to someone, nearly breaking the fourth wall. He did it for fun. Just a little gigglejoke. Why not change the course of Belobog if it makes for a spectacle?

Also: during the Phantylia fight, you can hear Aha laughing. At who? Us, or Phantylia? Something is in motion aboard the Luofu, involving the Destruction, the Abundance and the Hunt. It won’t be the first time Aha has brought together different Aeons for their own amusement.

In Swarm Disaster, it’s made clear Aha had some level of knowledge or perhaps even involvement in Ena the Order becoming Xipe the Harmony. You-as-Akivili, the role the Trailblazer inhabits while in Simulated Universe, feel uneasy watching Aha suck up to Xipe, which is interesting to note. Ena is the one who demands Qlipoth to act on the problem the Tayzzyronth poses, and yet they are absorbed by Xipe.

I’ll also note that in Swarm Disaster, it’s implied it was “chance” that caused the rise of the Propagation path and their ascension to Aeonhood. Now, I’m not saying Aha did it, but…

At the end of Swarm Disaster, Herta takes you through the simulation once more, pointing out three big details that bug her after having witnessed all they could divine from the past:

The destruction of the system the Propagation (once a mortal) originated from was not a natural occurrence. Something or someone instigated it. Herta isn’t sure who did it, suggesting Voracity, Order or Elation, but landing on not knowing. For now.

During the Propagation path wrecking havoc across the universe, Oroboros the Voracity and Ena the Order disappeared. How and why are not entirely clear, though we know Ena was absorbed into Xipe. Oroboros is interesting since the Voracity is an enemy of Qlipoth — perhaps even an Aeon Qliopth fears, to a degree. Herta’s exact quote is: “Oroboros and Ena vanished in the middle of this tale! Completely, silently, as if there was another story progressing along in the shadows underneath the main stage…”

The Aeons that came together — Equilibrium, Preservation, Trailblaze, Elation and Harmony — may have brought down the Propagation, but the path itself isn’t dead. There’s endless Swarm offsprings still alive in the universe. Herta suggests that the Propagation isn’t actually truly dead, and will rise again. And soon.

Leaving Swarm Disaster, it's hard not to feel a sense of unease about Aha. Herta herself states that the universe has gotten worse since Aha's laugh rang out across the universe for the first time. Whatever hand Aha is intending to play in the future will be very interesting.

I was watching Star Rail trailers when my mind made some connections between the twst cast and their paths

Lore wise: (Paths are based on the qualities they admire, not their behaviour)

Rook would be a follower of Lan the Hunt but admires Idrila the Beauty.

Riddle would be a follower of Ena the Order.

Idia is definitely a follower of Nous the Erudition and is a member of the Genius Society.

Leona would be a follower of Nous or IV the Nihility.

Chenya is probably a follower of Aha the Elation.

Jade and Floyd are both followers of Aha.

In terms of gameplay: (Somewhat based on their Unique Magic)

Rook is Hunt (No surprise there)

Riddle is either Erudition or Nihility

Vil, Ruggie, Jamil, Jade, Trey, Azul and Malleus are Nihility (Why so many Nihility like goddamn)

Leona is either Erudition or Destruction

Deuce and Sebek are Hunt or Destruction

Jack is Destruction

Epel and Floyd are Preservation

Kalim is either Abundance or Harmony
