⨳ ʾ apps/sites 4 shifting . ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi! this will be long but i made a list of apps/sites that might be helpful for your shifting journey. reminder that you don't need these to shift but they can be helpful with manifesting, keeping track of stuff, etc.
enjoy! divider cr
NOT SPONSORED BTW LMAO
Tumblr media
﹒ ⊹ 🝮 OO1: NOTION ✩
description:
basically notion is an app for documents and stuff. i have to say this one's relatively known and it's such a huge life saver and i know that probably everyone knows about it already (as they should) but i'm gonna recommend it once again.
useful for:
scripting
dashboards you can add life goals & stuff here you can look up some templates/ideas and see what i mean LOL
cons:
i personally can not think of any major ones because this app is just that good
you do have to make new accounts for the text ai generating feature but i don't know if anyone would use that
additional notes:
i personally love how customizable it is! like you can make each page have a custom icon & header, add widgets, images, and so much more. it is so so so insanely helpful for scripting i'm telling you. or you can just be basic, that works too. there's also a bunch of script templates online including specific ones (like a better cr, fame dr, fantasy dr, fandom-specific drs, bla bla bla) and it's literally the only thing shifttok is good for imo. i'm a big fan of shifterium's templates but there's other people who make them as well and i'm sure you can find some recommendations!
Tumblr media
★ ₊ ➲ OO2: CANVA
description:
a website + app where you can design stuff from headers down to presentations, posters, covers, etc..
useful for:
album covers for singer/idol drs
book covers for writer drs or something
fake social media posts but there's better apps out there and i'll list them here as well
and much more!
cons:
a lot of things (most of which i think are the good stuff) are paid but you can find similar replicas if you scroll long enough i guess..?? and there's a free trial but i don't know if that helps
additional notes:
definitely my favorite place to go when i need to design something tbh. there's a bunch of templates you can use and the layout is very easy to navigate through! and it's pretty easy to find free alternatives for the paid stuff you do have in there
Tumblr media
₍ⁿ⑅..ⁿ₎ ˇ ⩩ OO3: PARROT ❀
description:
parrot is an app where you can record yourself saying literally anything and play it on a continuous loop
useful for:
affirmations (manifesting??)
cons:
i'm pretty sure it's iOS only
additional notes:
personally i haven't used this app (i don't like my voice so i will not be recording myself saying affirmations thank yew) so i can't give it a rating but from the looks of it and based off of recommendations i've seen it's pretty useful. should be a white icon with a pink circle that has a white parrot in it!
Tumblr media
≥≤ ﹕ ⤷ OO4: BEHINDTHENAME ◍
description:
a site where you can generate names & even life stories if you choose it (including height, weight, blood type, birthday, nationality and more i think?? at least it gives those for me). you can choose from different cultures and stuff like fantasy & mythology.
useful for:
finding a name & info for your dr self (which is literally you by the way don't forget that!) and potentially other people you'd like to script in
cons:
it really just helps to make a basic profile of a person so the things you can do with it can be a little limited
additional notes:
i prefer using this site for ocs instead but i think it can definitely help with shifting! oddly enough it also shows like a lifespan & cause of death so.. cool i guess!!!!
Tumblr media
✦ ﹕ OO5: SOCIAL MAKER/dummy
description:
social maker & social dummy are both apps where you can replicate almost basically anything from the internet from twitter posts to facebook posts, youtube posts, and more!
useful for:
social media stuff especially useful for fame drs, streamer drs, idol/singer drs and so much more
cons:
both apps were deleted so you have to have had installed them before if you want to get them back
social maker is ios only i think?
additional notes:
yeah both apps are deleted but there's alternatives out there like twinote (for twitter) photonote (for instagram) canva (has fake social media templates as i said lol) and others that you can look for (because i personally only use twinote)
Tumblr media
⋆ ᶻᶻ OO6: HELLOFACE ﹒ ★
description:
basically an app for ai face swapping
useful for:
seeing what your face claim (if you have one) would look like on for example dances, fancams, interviews definitely useful for idol/singer/maybe fame drs
cons:
uses ai (i'm personally not a big fan of ai)
pretty underground so the chances that you might not like it are not low
Tumblr media
✭ ❒︎ OO7: ROOM PLANNER . ♡
description:
basically what the name says. it's a 3d home designer
useful for:
making your dr room/house
visualizing your dr room/house
cons:
has paid stuff
Tumblr media
┊ ‧ ⬭ OO8: COMBYNE
description:
an app where you can combine items you like from a wide selection of stuff to make outfits!
useful for:
making outfits for your dr
visualizing said outfits
additional notes:
there's other things you can do on the app like challenges where you can compete to make the best outfit i think?? looks pretty fun i might try it HAHAHA
Tumblr media
yuh so i got a little lazy here at the end & i know this is prolly not very helpful because most of these apps/sites are pretty well known but maybe just maybe.. i helped someone out...
HAPPY SHIFTING!!!!!

I started writing "4 srs" this month and I like how free and accessible writing is, so I'm recommending free software I've experimented with that might help people who want to get into the hobby!
“Specifically Created for Writing Stories”
-------------------------------
Manuskript – Story organizer / word processor. Has an outliner and index card function, along with distraction free mode. Lets you switch between different templates such as a non-fiction mode or a short story.
Bibisco – Novel writing software that includes writing goals, world-building, distraction free mode, and a timeline.
“I Just Want to Write”
---------------------------
LibreOffice – Microsoft 365 alternative, but free! LibreOffice Writer is what I wrote this tumblr post in before I posted it. Also if you copy & paste the text into the Rich Text Editor on AO3, it seems that it actually converts it properly. Nice! No need for scripts.
Note-Taking
-------------------------------
Zim Wiki - note taking application that is very, very lightweight (1.1mb). It functions with a tree structure, so I’d personally recommend it for world-building and character bios. There are built-in plugins that also turn it into a good software for task management (it even has a article on how to use it for GTD) and journalling. See also: CherryTree (2mb), which is a more outdated-looking app, but functions similarly.
Obsidian MD – The Big Boy. markdown note editor that has been adopted by personal knowledge management fans---if it doesn’t do something you want it to do, just look in the community plugins to see if someone has already done it. Some unique non-word processing related usages I’ve found is the ability to create a table of contents dashboard, a image gallery for images, embedding youtube videos and timestamping notes, so forth.
Logseq – A bullet point based markdown note editor that also has PDF annotations, Zotero integration, flashcard creation, and whiteboards. Best used for outlining projects due to the bullet point structure.
Joplin – A modern app comparable to Zim Wiki, it’s basically just a note-taking software that uses folders and tags to sort easier. Looks prettier than Zim Wiki and Cherry Tree
Notion – An online-only website that allows usage of different database types. Free for personal use. Note: I dislike the AI updates that have been making the app lag more. I prefer the others on this list.
Mind Maps
-------------------------------
Freeplane – So much goddamn features, including a ton of add-ons. Looks somewhat ugly, but it works for anyone willing to spend a while learning how to use it.
Mermaid – Text-based diagram creator. Can be used in apps like Joplin, Notion, and Obsidian.
Obsidian’s Canvas – A core plugin for Obsidian, it deserves its own mention in that it allows you to create embedded notes of the mindmap nodes. Thus, if you want to create a 20-page long note and have it minimized to the size of a penny on the mindmap, you could.
Other Things That Might Be Of Interest
Syncthing - A free software that allows you to sync between two or more computers. Have a desktop but also laze around on a laptop in bed, coming up with ideas?? This is your buddy if you don't want to use a online software.

alright. can anyone who is good at finding information help me out here cuz i’m stumped.
i got an ad for a vertical drama called ‘sneak me in your closet my prince’. the thing is tho, this show is eerily similar to a different vertical show from a different vertical drama distributor, ‘my secret agent husband’.
i don’t mean the fact that most verticals are similar and recycle tropes and all that. i mean there are some scenes that are identical. specifically the scenes where one character asks another to marry him and the scene where they get their marriage officiated. they even reuse the dialogue itself.
the thing that really stood out was the line “i’m not gay. and i’m not interested in you”. i don’t see how they could use that same exact line unless there was some connection to the other show yknow?
but the companies are different. the secret agent one is dramabox and the closet prince is goodshort. and as for who wrote the script,, i can’t find it literally anywhere online.
the secret agent one was said to be written be dede harlan, who has spoken about the production a little bit on his youtube channel and instagram.
but the closet prince? i have no idea who wrote it directed or produced or any details. it doesn’t even link you to any actors the only way i figured out who the actors are is by searching through the comments of social media posts.
anyway all this to say. i spent hours trying to figure out what’s going on with this and got nowhere.
i know there’s some connection between the shows. i don’t know if they have the same writer reusing old work, a different writer who copied parts, or maybe ai scripting that copied a line word for word? i can’t find anything on the production/ behind the scenes stuff. the only thing i found about the companies is that dramabox is owned by the same company that owns wattpad.
if anyone can figure out the writer of sneak me into your closet my prince please let me know it’s killing me. or if you have any video essays or articles about the production of vertical shows by either of these companies. i just like knowing shit and it hurts me when i can’t figure something out.

https://fandomwire.com/i-wouldnt-even-know-how-warren-ellis-had-the-most-realistic-reason-for-not-consulting-the-castlevania-video-games-and-it-wasnt-because-of-wikipedia/
I have no words
I can genuinely believe that a 50 something person may be shit with technology, my mother can barely use her iphone, but an accomplished writer who most definitely should know how to write using writing programs in pretty advanced ways? Who even used to run his own online blog and website?
Are you seriously telling me that he wouldn't know to look on Youtube on how to use a fucking NES and GBA emulator?
The writer and co-showrunner of Castlevania, Warren Ellis, is the man responsible for bringing the dark vampire-filled world of Castlevania to the anime universe and making one of the best video game adaptations of all time. However, the shocking fact is that Ellis has never played the Castlevania video game in his life.
I'm gonna be blunt: it's impossible to write a good adaptation, let alone "one of the best adaptations of all time", without experiencing the source material.
If you like NFCV for its story and characters, as its own thing, it's a different conversation. But it is not, in any way, shape or form, a good adaptation. It's the equivalent of AI mashing together information it randomly finds on the Internet. Ellis and his crew took elements from the wiki and then smushed them without understanding their significance: things like Trevor's scar, Lisa's last words and her relationship with Alucard, Hector and Isaac's entire backgrounds and outfits, the Belmont legacy and the importance of the Vampire Killer. It superficially resembles the games in some details, but the core of the lore and the messages was twisted beyond recognition.
And clearly, the Deats' creed as fans hardly mattered, since the show's idea of being faithful to the games is random easter eggs like the wall meat or Gergoth or the Glyphs in Sypha's book or what have you, but they allowed the story to derail so much, Nocturne can't even be considered an adaptation anymore.
I also can't pity Ellis much, when the writers of Captain N, in the '80s, resorted to describing to each other on the phone what they could see on their discolored TV. Nowadays we have Youtube. It's the absolute bare minimum one can do to understand a game. Even my grandma knows how to use Youtube by now. We're not even talking about behemoths like The Last Of Us: an average playthrough of Dracula's Curse is 1:40 hours long, like a movie, and Curse of Darkness' cutscenes make for a 40 minute video. Fucking hell you might as well read the scripts on the wiki if you're that lazy.
Imagine doing this for books. Imagine refusing to read a book because it's too hard and just skimming the wikis for information before turning it into a movie. Book fans would riot and reject such a shallow adaptation. But it's okay when it's videogames, right? They're just a bunch of pixels anyway :^) good enough to use as a springboard for your edgy Berserk/GoT ripoff, not good enough to be understood, right? :^)

Generates product videos in minutes
Designs eye-catching logos and banners
Writes a quick ebook as a lead magnet
Uses the AI avatar for explainer videos
Finds trending keywords to boost SEO
In just a few days, she has more content than she used to produce in months—and she hasn’t spent a fortune doing it.
The Price vs. The Value: Worth Every Penny?
Here’s where things get really interesting. Buying each of these 12 tools separately would easily cost over $11,000. But AI Media Machine gives you the whole package for:
$1 trial for the first 30 days
$37/month afterward (locked-in rate)
That's a tiny fraction of what people usually pay just for a video editor or designer. And it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee—so there’s no risk involved.
What People Are Saying: Early Feedback from Users
Let’s hear from a few real beta testers:
“At 62, I didn’t think I could keep up with content creation. This tool changed everything for me.” – James W., Phoenix, AZ “I create TikToks with AI avatars now. No camera, no stress, and they look amazing!” – Barbara T., Austin, TX “Designed my logo, published an ebook, and made my first affiliate sale—without leaving my living room.” – Robert M., Bend, OR
Clearly, AI Media Machine isn’t just for tech pros. It’s built for everyday people with ideas to share.

if you little shits accuse lie of using ai for her fics and she leaves this platform because of it I will reign hell on earth. I come here multiple times a week for comfort. ive been in her anonymous inbox myself and asked for advice thats helped tremendously while also enjoying hearing her side of things. this is my favorite fic content creator and ai doesn't have the depth that lies content has.
Some of you werent here back when lie had a bunny and joked he was her coworker. it shows. the lore runs deep and itd be impossible for ai to stick to the same script for so long. she should block some of you and tell you to fuck off but she chooses to be kind. it says a lot about her character.
back when hyunjin answered her question for a youtube video and she excitedly shared it with us. back when she worked a shitty retail job and stepped back from writing fics cuz she was burnt out. she apologized profusely and promised to try harder and be a better writer when nobody asked her to.
get behind me lie. you are my version of felix. my sweet sunshine. never let anyone bring you down honey. shes my baby. my baby baby deserves much happiness and peace. leave her alone.
Oh!! 😧 Well, the good news is that I'm not leaving. I really like it here, so I'd rather not leave. I'm glad to hear that it helps. Your favorite? 🥹 I'm going to cry. You remember him? It feels like that was all eons ago. He really was my little side-kick. A pain in my ass? Absolutely, but I did adore him and his temper tantrums. They never tell you that rabbits can be super dramatic and bratty. I miss him all the time.
I really try not to do that unless it's needed and necessary. Life can be really hard and I don't want to be a reason to make someone's life worse. Sometimes, I forget that video exists. That was a really nice surprise and it was so nice to hear him talk about art. Knowing that now, he's accomplished some of the art related tasks he wanted to pursue, it makes me feel so proud of him. He keeps leveling up in all these little ways, it's admirable. Isn't it cool that we can continue growing and changing?
I really was miserable because of management 😭 Quitting that job made me feel alive again. It was such a relief and I hope I'll never have to work for that company again. Some retail places are terrible to their employees and that sucks. Your employees shouldn't feel worthless and unseen while working for you. I will never understand how people don't care about their employees.
Anyway, I'm honored you feel that way. I have my own soft spot for Felix and I love him. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for sticking around for this long. I cherish that far more than you'll ever know. Please don't be worried, I promise I'll be sticking around for quite a bit <3

A Rant About YouTube Video Laziness That Somehow Devolved Into The Meaning Of Art & Also Umineko Is Mentioned A Lot For Some Reason
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my god. I am SO SICK of seeing YouTube videos CLEARLY scripted by AI. At LEAST try to hide it. At first, my first exposure was when someone called out a sims lore YouTuber for getting AI to assist them, which I didn’t pick up on. Was kinda a bummer but I moved on, because it’s just sims content- y’know? But then, I discovered this channel by an older woman (50’s, yes, am young adult) who was giving life lessons and the such, and it felt heartwarming at first, kinda comforting, like I was getting a chance to learn things and prepare for them (the plague of the 20’s overpreppers; join the club. I’m forming one. We will definitely ace this totally real test.) but then I began getting suspicious.
In one video, she straight up made allusions to people who use AI to generate YT videos and how that was bad. Okay. A bit suspicious. Then, she did it again. Was she chatting with chatGPT and then got her own ethical qualms? Lol. It’s really disheartening to see someone be self-aware of the dishonesty they’re showing, but continue on with it. I mean, sure, no one’s fully honest, and formerly, it was just a sims channel- but when you’re giving coaching and ‘life lessons’ to people you should at least be transparent on if you’re using AI assistance.
Anyway, I dropped that channel from my playlists and moved on. Then, I got recommended a few videos. I quickly realised so many of them were AI. Tell-tale signs, the beloved emdash and bullet point lists telling you exactly what is in it (why would I watch the video if I can just read the description? Lol), etc. My breaking point was today, when I got a “why most writers quit” video in my rec, about how it’s due to a lack of belief in the value of their writing (…not relatable at all /j), clicked it,
IT WAS FUCKING AI AGAIN.
Tumblr media
Yeah, what a way to make writers feel valued- telling us we’re worthy through chatGPT. Tip? You know if people wanted chatGPT to glaze them, they’d just use chatGPT, right? These people seem incapable of understanding ART, that it’s PEOPLE we want to hear. Maybe even little Fido if he learns to speak and become a… idk, gourmet YouTuber…
Like, okay, running video ideas past chatGPT is one thing, but using it to make entire videos?? I don’t get people who BECOME artists SOLELY for money. Like, not just monetising it, but as a primary, starting force. There has to be easier ways. Like, I don’t get it. Ironically, I’m asking chatGPT “Why do people get into art just for money?” Okay, some understandable reasons but then there’s “perceived ease of making money.” Again, good luck with that. It’s not that easy. Less than 1% make enough money to thrive on on YT, it’s estimated that 90% of self-published books sell less than 100 copies, and many sell less than 10. While I haven’t done digital art in quite a few years, (even despite a random commenter commenting on my old art from 2018 and asking if I still did art giving me some fleeting motivation), google says what I suspect: it’s not easy to make money from commissions at all. And I know from experience art takes a LONG time.
Anyway, my point is that if you’re using chatGPT for your video scripts, books or (ai in general) for art pieces, why? I’ve heard many arguments at this point, all the classics and more, but one I find absurd is “I just use it to assist me! Why do you draw the line at ChatGPT but not Grammarly?” Because Grammarly (which, iirc, has a pro-AI book stance now. Hence why I don’t use it anymore.) is for checking typos and strange wording. We could do the whole Ship Of Theseus at-what-point-is-it-AI-or-you thing, but, look, the point is that writing isn’t easy. I don’t think anyone expects it to be easy, but that’s part of the joy in it. If writing is so debilitating to the point where you don’t even want to do it yourself… don’t do it. Or, if you do, at least fucking be HONEST. “Hey, I made this book with AI.” My problem with so many AI books/art/YouTube videos is the DISHONESTY. If someone said they used AI, I’d be like, “oh, okay, not for me, thanks, bye,” and click off or stop reading/following that artist. And these people KNOW that, so that’s why they lie. But that’s the thing!! People click off BECAUSE we want YOUR perspective, not ChatGPT’s. YOUR writing, YOUR art, YOUR YouTube videos. We want YOU.
It’s sad that people can’t believe in themselves. I mean, even I struggle to, but every writer, artist or YouTuber struggles, even the successful ones! That’s what you HAVE to remember. There are so many writers, artists and YouTubers who have disabilities or mental illnesses and push through. Heck, maybe they don’t. Maybe they have a strong support network or are just lucky and more inclined towards independence/not needing to prove themselves (both usually go together). And if you don’t have those things, of course it’ll be difficult, but that’s why it’s important to HAVE a strong support network. And if writing/art/being a YouTuber is genuinely, again, so debilitating for you that you don’t even want to do it yourself, why are you doing it? To make something ‘pretty’ or aesthetic? I mean, sure, but at least be transparent. Personally, I’m still inclined to cringe at AI writing or art when I spot it- as a lot of people are- but we can appreciate honesty. Sure, some people take it too far with harassment, and that’s not okay, but I’d like to think most people wouldn’t take it that far. Art isn’t just about beauty or aesthetics. That’s one reason, a surface reason why people enjoy it, but did my deep love of Higurashi growing up, and deep love of Umineko in my teens come from “oh, cool, crazy (/pos) girls!” and “no way, cool witch woman!” Well, yes, partially. But I STAYED because of the deeper themes that resonated with me. Being a lonely kid, Higurashi, and, ironically, My Little Pony, were things I loved because of the themes of friendship & community and trust- things I lacked. And, Umineko is an interesting case because when I finished it in 2022, it was around the time my dog got a cancer diagnosis. In fact, I think I finished it the day after she died.
At the time, when I finished Umineko, I teared up. No piece of media had made me feel that way in years. I didn’t understand quite why. I didn’t even understand the message, but I knew I would. Erika was my favourite character, and she still is, but I also understood the bad ending, in my mind, to be the good one, even when I knew I wasn’t supposed to feel that way. ‘Why?’ I thought. ‘Why do I not get the point?’ And it’s because I lacked love and trust- in myself, others, in the characters. Of course, the characters of Umineko are fictional, and it’s a mystery story- one that plays homage to the genre and the works of Agatha Christie specifically- but Ryukishi07 plays with the genre conventions in interesting ways, including dissecting the genre itself & even the nature of truth. I didn’t understand this until, due to medication mix-ups and high restriction, I had a deep existential spiral that lasted weeks.
It was not pretty. I experienced “ego death,” or at least came close, at some point. I was anxious, afraid, going in circles asking myself what the meaning of anything was, what truth meant, if I was good or worthy, and by what basis? Can I prevent all suffering, especially to animals? Can I not? Does that mean I simply… shouldn’t be? Would the world be better off- you can see where this went. I won’t speak further on this. It was not a good place to be. Remember: philosophy isn’t rumination, philosophy is dialogue. Art is dialogue. Mystery is a question.
The story of Umineko is the dialogue, a meta-analysis of mystery stories. The answer we get is not the typical one you’d expect- and some may say it’s not even an answer at all. Until you read the manga. But, well, that’s the thing. Ange’s truth about what happened on the island is her truth, even if we, as the reader, ‘know’ the truth, no one really ‘knows’ what happened on Rokkenjima. I won’t get into specifics for spoiler reasons, but I highly recommend Umineko. I’ve seen one negative critique of it recently, and I think it’s the type of story where you either resonate with it, or you don’t. At the time, there was a part of me that wanted to believe in people, but I couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, Umineko did, arguably, take this message quite far. Whether it was justified is up to personal interpretation, and I do understand why Ryukishi07 did it, but, uh… Kinzo’s characterisation in ch8 (or was it 7?) still feels… off to me. Maybe it’s the lack of precedent lol, or the extent of his crimes, or a personal thing. Probably all three.
Anyway, I went on about fifty tangents & ended on Umineko. In fact, I’m pretty sure I never shut up about this series despite only reading it once in its entirety. God, I would love a friend to force-read this story to, but, surprisingly, people aren’t really interested when I tell them “it’s 100 hours, yes, but trust me, it’s totally worth it, man.” I guess, if you want to get into Higurashi or Umineko, start with the manga versions of either. There are also anime and other media- even novelisations? I didn’t know Higurashi had a novelisation until recently, but I think it’s in Japanese and idk about translations.
Personally, I got into Higurashi way back in the day through the anime clips I saw and then the anime. I had to watch YouTube reactors and ignore their commentary though as it was so hard to find the anime, and I wasn’t going to buy a DVD (…though, I do sometimes yearn for those days… am I getting old?), so. Then, for Umineko, I saw the ch2(?) table scene with Rosa & Beatrice (you know the one lol), and looked up more. I learned the anime was frowned upon, so I just skipped to reading the VN. I actually ended up finishing Umineko’s VN before Higurashi, due to the Higurashi anime having a better rep, so despite being a Higurashi fan since 2018, I only finished the original arcs in 2023? And, I’ve been going through the bonus arcs since.
I want to re-read Kuradashi (again, please help.) & then I need to finish Outbreak, Kamikashimashi & Mehagashi, and then I think I’m done. I couldn’t find Niesagashi/Kokorokuzushi, Hashiwatashi/Nashikuzushi, Higurashi Radio (there are translations but they’re hard to navigate/incomplete), Matsuri Ura (only Omote), the drama CD’s (Murakuzushi, Kotoushi, Yumekawashi), and I don’t remember if I’ve read Kokoroiyashi-hen. Don’t think I could find it. Also didn’t play Jan or read the manga (Tsubamegaeshi, Kokorokuzushi), Teiryuujou (the manga. I LOVED the VN version though and recommend it to those who don’t want to invest in Higurashi entirely but want to dip their toes in… except, I think around the last 30 minutes is when it gets REALLY spoilery so maybe not?? Unless you’re totally fine with being spoiled on literally everything in the plot.), and, uh… Mawarimusubushi… yeah, couldn’t find that captivating story /j. I want to eventually read all the manga versions of every arc… even the daybreak one and the dreaded… batsukoishi. I’m a completionist (autistic). Yeah… reading the VN of Batsukoishi was the worst 30 minutes of my life. Btw, I know a lot of people dislike Meguri, but personally, I loved it over Sotsu until the ending. Don’t remember why. Anyway, most people aren’t reading this, and I’m rambling, but if there’s any else I hope I don’t forget them. Thank god for the Higurashi fandom wiki, just in case I need to consult it. I used Bess & Jedharend’s guides previously. Oh, also, I forgot I was watching a retrospective by someone called SnicketySlice 7 months ago? Whoops. Thanks for reminding me YouTube search bar. AND THANKS FOR REMINDING ME I SPENT 9 HOURS ON AVERAGE ON MY PHONE LAST WEEK, PHONE. Personally, I recommend the latter guide as I found it more comprehensive and wished I had used it sooner, but Bess’ guide is still pretty good and less overwhelming for beginners. So, take your pick lol. The wiki is also good.
As for Umineko, until consulting the wiki I honestly had no idea there was bonus content beyond Our Confession & Last Note Of The Golden Witch… and I don’t even remember if I read Our Confession.
Anyway, to get to the point, what drew me in, ultimately, was A) the aesthetics & surface-level “wtf” factors, yes. But also: the mystery, fleshed-out characters, themes, and, you know, the fact it’s a Ryukishi07 work. In fact, I find that some of the arcs I liked least were when they were by a different writer. Not that it’s inherently a bad thing to bring different writers onto a project, and not that Ryukishi’s writing is, you know, perfect, but there’s a certain style to every writer on Earth, informed by previous styles. Same for any art.
Art, YouTube, writing- all artists take inspiration. In a way, art is humanness (…unless, again, Fido learns how to paint and express himself) That’s why sometimes we look at art and think it’s hideous, but why we also look at art and think it’s beautiful. We have a love-hate relationship with ourselves, our humanity, us. Art is confusion, but not without purpose. ChatGPT does not have intent with its art. ChatGPT does not have a story to tell. It takes your story and adjusts it based on the criteria you give, but if you tell chatGPT to “improve” your story, you know what it’s going to do? Rely on cliches, overused tropes, popularity. And popularity isn’t inherently bad, but are you trying to be ‘just like every other writer,’ or are you trying to stand out?
It won’t make you stand out, but you won’t blend in, unless you go out of your way to disguise your writing, remove your style and leave only what chatGPT has to say, with fragments of your work in with it. Ask yourself, do you want chatGPT, or do you want your writing? Whatever you decide, ultimately, I hope you at least choose honesty. I also don’t think it’s fair to charge money for work made with chatGPT. People pay for a book because they believe you spent your time writing a story worthy of being told. But… you didn’t. Again, we can get into the nitty gritty, but I’m talking about getting AI to do the majority of the story. Even using it for ‘editing’ isn’t a great idea, because a major part of editing is developmental, where you go back and adjust the story to figure out if the story being conveyed is what best fits, and that’s something so subjective that I think… people just lose a bit of themselves, the more AI is involved. ChatGPT doesn’t know what story you want to tell. It knows what’s considered “objectively” good writing, AKA, what’s popular with people.
The discussion of “good” writing and “le popular = le bad” is a pretentious one, but ultimately, good writing is subjective and so is bad writing. And same with storytelling. You have to decide for yourself and your audience what scenes, characters & arcs work best for what you’re trying to intend & what your audience expects from you, and whether you want to subvert it or not. ChatGPT can only do so much. It takes time and mulling, yes, but it’s a cathartic part of the process, even if tedious sometimes. Again, if it’s not something you enjoy, then maybe short stories or serialisation is more your jam, or less traditional routes. Or maybe you’re burned out or at a low point. That doesn’t mean you should give the keys of the proverbial castle to our AI overlords, it means you need some rest. And that’s fine. As indie or self authors, taking breaks is perfectly normal. In fact, all authors take breaks. And if you just don’t like the process at all, maybe it’s just not for you. Maybe you want to share your work, without all the editing & perfection. But if perfection is what you’re aiming for, you’ll fall short every time. Trust me, I’ve tried.
Hey, some advice? If you call yourself a “good enough-“ist you’re probably a perfectionist in denial. Just saying. I know from experience lol. At least, I became one.
All this to say that I understand why it might be tempting to use AI for writing, or art, or YouTube, and I may have gone off topic… slightly… to Umineko and mainly writing. Sorry, personal experience. But as for art and YouTube, there are reasons for that, too. I’ve played Devil’s Advocate for AI art before, actually getting some pushback once, even though I wasn’t intending to defend it. It was a silly argument though, in retrospect, not because my logic was wrong, but because I was ignorant to one little fact.
You see, I made the fair use argument. That doesn’t apply. For writing? I would’ve said ‘maybe’ until I found out AI just spits out chunks of actual author’s writing. For art? No, not really. It does the same thing. I don’t know about videos, but even besides that, using art/writing/videos without people’s consent, while it may in some cases fall under “fair use,” is wrong, even if it’s not illegal, in my opinion, when it comes to just putting it into a machine. But here’s the thing: scrapers don’t ask permission. They just do. Because if they did?
“Hey, how do you feel about your hard work being put into a machine and spitting out something far quicker than you can?” It’s not jealousy. I mean, okay, yeah, sure, if I could pump out the perfect book each time, that would be… nice? But it would kill any dialogue.
I could go in circles, but ultimately, art is expression. Until AI becomes sentient, I don’t see how it can express beyond a fractured, fragmented (badum chh) version of your story. Even if you write something atrocious, something so bad that the worst writer of the world laughs at you, someone out there will like it. I actually googled “worst writer ever” out of curiosity, knowing its subjectivity.
Google told me ‘Amanda McKittrick Ros’ was… and she was an Irish writer, becoming Northern Irish later in her lifetime due to the formation of NI in 1921. Already feeling sympathy for her due to the relatability of being from a place I can’t even name without at least SOMEONE being offended no matter what I say, I investigated further. Amanda was strongly influenced by the works of Marie Corelli, who despite having her own controversies, was a best-selling author with a wide readership.
Amanda, from my deep (/s) research (a Wikipedia page), despite being critically panned (citation needed), still had her followers, including big names such as C.S Lewis & Mark Twain. Direct quote from a direct quote that has a citation that’s probably a quote, if I bothered to check, “Twain considered Irene "one of the greatest unintentionally humorous novels of all time.”
Again, Amanda was criticised. Probably didn’t help her case by calling her critics ‘lacking in sufficient intellect to appreciate her talent,’ but, does that mean she was a ‘bad writer?’
I actually found myself finding many things about Amanda rather interesting, and let’s just say I’m doing an ongoing investigation into if I actually ‘know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knew someone who might’ve potentially known someone who knew her.’ That kinda deal. But that’s besides the point. Was Amanda a bad writer? (Update; getting leads on this)
Her novel, Irene Iddesleigh, a romantic drama, was financed in 1897 as a gift. According to Wikipedia, “The plot centers around an adopted Canterbury noblewoman named Irene, her marriage to nobleman Sir John Dunfern, and her subsequent affair and elopement with her tutor. It has been widely considered one of the worst books of all time since its publication, and has been panned by critics for its excessive purple prose and poorly constructed plot.”
Skimming a few pages myself, but that I mean the short chapter 1, I found it hard to focus on the story. Not only were my expectations low, thanks to reputation, but I was too fascinated by it. How could something be considered so bad? What was so outrageous about the book? It made me want to read it, analyse it, understand why she thought it was so good and why everyone else seemed to dislike it so. And, honestly, that’s all I really need for now. Unless any fangirls or fanboys or fanpeople of this book want to defend its honour and explain why it’s actually a masterpiece to me, I’m not particularly drawn in… except, I am.
Due to its infamy, due to its ‘terrible’ reputation, at least from what I’ve heard of, I want to understand it. With AI, there is nothing to understand, really. I mean, I understand why the work exists. The AI was told to write a story. In a way, every piece of art reflects a piece of the author. Their experiences. Their past. Or maybe not even their ones, but their friends, the stories they hear by word of mouth and even then of those people, their past, and the past then, and the past. It’s a collection of our experiences. AI, sure, can churn out a collection of experiences, of works, but only what’s fed to it.
And, AI can’t truly be an amalgamation of every piece of writing in existence. Not only is that not feasible, but it would be problematic to do so without consent of as many parties as possible. Not that every art piece should reflect every experience ever, but the fact that art connects with people is what is so beautiful about it. For your art to connect with others, to communicate, to be understood and understand others in your and their art, your art has to reflect you, not AI.
I mean, it doesn’t “have to.” You don’t “have to” do anything, I guess. I mean, except maybe being a decent human, and some may argue that I’m not being a fair person by being so vehemently against AI writing. But… I’m not saying this because I hate AI writers. I’m saying this because it makes me, as a writer, feel undervalued. And sure, that’s vulnerable to admit, but vulnerability is a part of art, sometimes. And it’s not just my experience. It’s the experience of many people. I just don’t understand why people would continue to do this when it makes others feel so degraded. That, much like AI, feels inhuman, anti-human, even. Anti-self. If art is communication, why stifle that communication?
I’m not saying abandon editing, abandon feedback, I’m actually saying the opposite. Art is communication, going from your inside work to “what do you think of this?” to back. Of course, that doesn’t mean blindly going with what others want, either. Art is expression. Look, you get what I’m trying to say, I don’t need to repeat art is expression over and over, and this post is long enough.
You know, when I start tumblr drafts, I almost always write long posts and then delete them before posting wondering why I even bothered. It’s easy to feel that way about my writing, too. What’s the point? What makes me special? I’m just one of many writers who will never mean anything to anyone. I’m not special. But… I’m a person, a person who likes writing. That is what makes us writers. If you don’t… I just don’t get it.
But, anyway, I went from a quick “grrr, why YouTube AI slop!!!” post to a whole fucking thesis paper on AI writing, Umineko, IRELANDDDD and trying to uplift other writers and myself but probably failing. Oh well.
:) If you read this far, I hope you’re having a good day, even if we don’t agree on this subject. I just wish the world was a happier place for everyone. Sorry, been going through a rough patch, since, uh… since I was born.
Edit: This should be obvious but dnfi w this if you are one of these people who lie & deceive, I can see through it.
Edit 2: NO WAY. WE STAY WINNING.

I have now seen two separate youtube videos titled roughly "Was Disney's Wish written by AI", and, I have to say, on one hand I'm glad people are starting to realise just how robotic the writing at Disney is becoming (I haven't seen Wish, but IMHO most major projects from ~2016 sound like chatGPT played a major part), on the other, it can't possibly be true, because you can't copyright AI creation.
And that leads to a very funny and grim conclusion that either there's an intern that churns out those scripts using AI, changes just enough to call it theirs (it's not plagiarism if you can't find the source!) so that the Mouse can stamp its stamps all over, or, the grimmer option, there are actual writers who get hired to write Like That.
And like. I know which I think is worse, but neither is great.

I am so glad you care so much for your community- I’ve seen ASMR people who really only do it for ghe money, but the fact you care so much is very sweet!
I do appreciate you also taking the time to show things that aren’t often done like age regression, chronic pain, pet regression, and period comfort. I rarely see any type of regression in media or asmr- it’s a nice feeling.
The mere fact you have made me fall in love with your characters (metaphorically) is wonderful. A lot of people don’t have their characters fleshed out and are left scrambling for answers when someone asks about the OC’s lore.
-sincerely, a fan trying to get a phycology degree; 💿💛
I don't know if I've seen anyone do asmr 'for the money' because it's really difficult to get a following in youtube when it's so oversaturated and youtubr ad money is not ad much as people think it is, at least for smaller channels, and youtube had a nasty habit of demonitising or putting limited ads on asmr videos because it sees them as 'sexual content', which no asmr is not inherently sexual whether it's a platonic roleplay, a romantic one, or someone tapping on things.
So I disagree with seeing people doing it for the money but maybe I just haven't seen the channels you're thinking of. My problem with the asmr voice acting space is far too many channels use stolen artwork in their videos or thumbnails (no artist credit anywhere, 'credit to artist' is not credit, linking to Pinterest is not credit, and even with proper credit I feel like using someone's fanart in your monetised video is something you should get permission from the artist to do, and I think picrews are a grey area as many are listed as 'not for commercial use' and does a monetised youtube video count as commercial use?), or in the last year or so an increasing amount are using AI generated 'art' and images in their videos which is disgusting, and I hope the channels that read scripts from reddit have permission to put them on monetised youtube videos instead of soundgasm because I'd feel weird if I wrote a script and shared it on a sub reddit for someone on youtube to voice it and monetise it and it get 100k views and the script writer not see a penny of that.
But anyway, ah, thank you for your kind words. If you look through my FAQ you can find a long answer about why I started making asmr va stuff, but basically it helped me when k was in a dark place and I always wanted to try my hand at it to be able to help others, especially as I saw no trans people or audios made for trans people at the time, but also I want to be clear I did also do it because I was struggling finically and trying another attempt at making money while working from home. And I don't think me partially doing this to make money is evil, we're all feeling the cost of living crisis I'm sure, and I'd just graduated straight into a pandemic so no one was hiring, I'd had a mental breakdown during my last year of uni, and I was trying to find how I could woke while figuring out I have autism and going through trauma that's left me with chronic pain and other health problems. So while yes I genuinely enjoy doing this, I've always wanted to tell stories and struggled to so that via writing books or drawing comics, improvising and acting these audios seems to come naturally and easy to me and its been a joy to discover this way of story telling and have other people enjoy it and care about my characters, I'm also not gonna sit here and lie and say it's never about the money because if my chanbek hadn't grown and after years I had no patreon members I wouldn't still be doing this because I'd have to have a different job and put my energy into that and wouldn't have time to justify doing this. I dont know just saying people 'only do it for the money' kinda rubbed me the wrong way a little because times are hard and of people get into this space to try and make some extra money I have no problem with that (as long as they aren't stealing art to do so).
The reason I cover topics like age regression, pet regression, chronic pain and periods is because I personally experience all of those things and know that I'd like comfort for them so I make the stuff I wanna hear. I hope knowing that I experience and I understand the topics makes people feel like they can trust me to talk about them in a way that isn't insensitive.
And thank you for liking my characters and that you feel there's are fleshed however, most are really not. Ambrose and Arden are the only ones who have fleshed out backstories. I've spoken about this so many times and I'm often someone who has to say 'I don't know' when people ask about my audio ocs. They weren't made with the intention of having complex stories or any backstory at all because not everyone wants that in their comfort asmr. I have other worlds and stories I've made that are like that, but my audios ocs were never made with that intention and it stresses me out when people assume there is more because I just don't have more. Maybe I'll make more for some characters, but you can't force me to have ideas and backstories for them. I dont think people should have to have fleshed out characters or backstories, especially when they're just making ocs for fun. I get it's frustrating if things aren't consistent, I've experienced liking someone else's audio ocs and remembering the lore and facts given only for the creator to have seemingly not remembered any of it or just randomly retconned it and it was frustrating and I hope I haven't forgotten major things I've said in my audios because when I do improvise lore I try and remember to note it down. And do remember my audios are improvised, I scripted parts of the love bites backstory but that's really been all the scripting I've ever done. If I suddenly made all the audios plot heavy and lore heavy I think a lot of people would stop listening. I have been trying to allow myself tl have my ocs as they are and not force them to have backstories and not apologise for "scrambling for answers" as you say. I dont think not having answers for questions about your ocs is bad, I dont want anyone to make me feel bad for that, and I have asks I haven't answered about my ocs sitting in my askbox because I don't the answers (multiple questions about what movies or music they all like I'm s- no I have to stop saying I'm sorry, the answer is I don't know, also those questions are hard to answer because I don't know most movies or music and I can't just give them all my fave music or movies over and over again because I don't know any others). When I introduce a new character now I do try and give them some story because I'm finding it fun, but I've found I cannot now force a backstory onto satin or valentine for example.
So thank you for liking my audios and characters, I just personally don't think there's anything wrong with someone making an asmr channel to try and earn more money as a lot of people are struggling finically right now, and I don't think there's anything wrong with not having answers or lore for characters that you've made for fun or for asmr videos.

ngl kind of breaks my heart to see you used one of those ai bot things after the entire vocaloid debate. i really don't like that you did that and i'm a little disappointed. can you please not do that again?
I know - I do need to address this before anything else, because I fucked up
Please read the whole thing
If any of you don't know the context of this ask;
Basically, a while back I used the program AI Dungeon to generate a hot take for fun;
That's the program they use for those chaotic AI videos you find on youtube, like the ai ace attorney clown case and the sonic destruction scripts, which has some absolutely wild moments like these
I just put in a couple one-sentence questions to see what it would give me, not really expecting anything. But the take it did finally give me was not only completely depraved, but also felt like such a weirdly personal attack on me specifically that it left me genuinely speechless.
So, even though I didn't originally intend to do this, I decided to secretly make a poll for it claiming it was a submission, because I thought it might be fun to see if you guys could guess which one of the polls was the fake one, Blade Runner style.
I generated the take on the same day that submissions originally closed, but I only came clean about it last night because I started to feel super guilty about it after reading the vocaloid discourse - but the way I did it was vague, shitty and insincere.
I know it was 4 in the morning and I said I was going to get some sleep when I made the post last night, but after I saw the asks I immediately got about that post - like this one - I instead deleted it after like 2 minutes and spent the next 4-5 hours scouring the internet for as much information about this as I could find so I could get the full picture. This isn't the first time I fucked up on this blog because I didn't do my research, so I think I massively overcompensated - I really didn't want a repeat of that time the master post accidentally triggered multiple people's OCD; I still feel awful about that.
And as a result, I ended up passing out on my bathroom floor, which is why you haven't heard from me in a while.
I did genuinely read all the vocaloid discourse (asks, replies, notes, all of it) - but since I pulled this stunt ages ago, and the secret poll is already up, it was already too late. And it was because of that vocaloid discourse that I felt like it would just make me a hypocrite if I just swept it under the rug and kept quiet while everyone else was talking about the exact same subject, so I decided to just tell you guys as soon as possible because I'd feel shitty if I didn't - but I still phrased that post in a more light-hearted way because that was what I originally intended this whole thing to be, which was definitely a mistake, and I can't apologise enough for that.
And I know I didn't clarify this in that original post, but like I said, the program I used was AI Dungeon, which was something I remembered having fun with back in 2019/2020, spending hours generating unhinged Ace Attorney cases; and I remembered I still had an account from back then when it was still free to play, even though I hadn't touched it in 4 years - and I realised I would still be able to bypass the paywall using it.
I'd also just watched those snapcube Sonic Destruction videos that I linked above and it reminded me of that. And I dug up those old AI Dungeon Ace Attorney cases that I had generated and then recreated in objection i.o. back when I was 17/18, and had been sitting on my old computer's hard drive for ever since - and they still made me smile a little. So that's how I got the impulse to do this.
And that's also why, even though I knew about the writer's strike and do fully support it, it just didn't occur to me that the AI that gave us that same insane Sonic Destruction script that I'd just watched would be one of the programs the writers were striking over - I just assumed that it was only programs like ChatGPT, that can produce coherent scripts based on the accumulated information users feed into it; because those are programs that could definitely potentially be used to replace human writers. That's something AI Dungeon can't do, because it doesn't retain user input after you shut it down.
So I just saw AI Dungeon as that goofy ass confused AI that I loved as a kid, the one that provides insanely weird responses out of the blue as it desperately tries to cobble together a narrative, and it was used in videos that I still really like. And I thought it would be fine.
That was how I justified it at the time - but in hindsight, given how much I hate other GPT programs like ChatGPT, as well as AI art and all other generated content overall, it just makes me even more of a stupid hypocrite for making an exception for this one simply because I was blinded by nostalgia, and not bothering to look it up back then like I should've done. Because at the end of the day, a GPT program is a GPT program.
SO - Here's what I found online while reading up on it last night:
Because of the outdated GPT model AI Dungeon runs on, it isn't possible from a technical standpoint for it to learn like ChatGPT does. Even though it still uses a dataset, as far as I can tell it genuinely can't add to that dataset from user input except for when it explicitly asks for feedback (rarely, it will generate two responses instead of one, and ask you to pick the best one so it can learn - but you can turn that feature off.) And while it does try to learn while you're using it, it can't carry that information over between sessions. So even if you reload the same page again, it won't retain what it learned last time.
(Here's some information I found while combing ancient reddit threads that explains this better than I can)
But even if all of that is true, it doesn't matter.
Latitude, the developers of AI Dungeon, are super fucking scummy, and you shouldn't support them.
If you want to look up all of the many, many controversies surrounding AI Dungeon, you can - but I won't link them here, because serious content warnings apply.
Do not use this program.
I really hope the anon who sent this ask - and everyone else who called me out on this - stuck around, because I am so, so grateful that you all sent these, otherwise I probably would never have known.
I deleted the post almost instantly (because like I said, it was too light-hearted), and I'm really glad I did. And I swear I won't pull this shit again.
I know a lot of you hate the fact that I did this - that original post genuinely got me blocked by more of you guys than every single one of the polls combined - which is totally fair, and I wouldn't blame any of you for doing the same now.
I really just want to move on from this - but I can't just pretend that it didn't happen.
Support the writer's strike, don't use any AI programs.
I'm really sorry about this, and the fact that I didn't take it seriously enough - like I said, I promise it won't happen again.
