ok....so when i'm waddling around with only the top button of my flannel buttoned (my belly is just too round and juts out too far to button anything else, it just hangs open and that last button is straining over my chest) and the only pants that fit me are sweatpants...i'm about to push out your baby any day...what then? what happens when everyone knows you've bred me? that i'm one of your hundred conquests, and maybe...based on the size of my belly, based on how i feel them moving in me...they might be twins.

what then?

do they make maternity clothes for alt guys...?

i doubt it. is it better if i just refuse to buy new clothes, even when i'm sooo pregnant i can barely fit into my old ones? or should i just accept it? i don't want to give up my style....but i do want to have a baby...a hard choice.

obviously you’re gonna be hard-pressed to find clothes that fit both your style and your belly. if you’re asking me, then obviously i think you should focus on your style— just because you’re swollen and heavy with my twins doesn’t mean you need to change your whole identity! your loose, baggy outfits lasted you so long before you got too big, i’m sure you can make them last these last couple weeks. that’s the soul of grunge, if you ask me!

Mech preg notes from anon's personal headcanons! Thought you'd like this ^^^^

During the first stage of a mech's carrying cycle, more protomesh accumulates around the gestation tank to prime the frame for carrying a sparkling. The excess protomesh settles around the protoform on the hips, thighs, midsection, and pelvic area. 

To allow the protoform to expand, carrier's frame often shifts and transforms itself in a suspended transformation sequence. However, the sequence prevents the carrying mech from getting into thefir alt mode easily. Unsuspending the transformation sequence results in discomfort for the carrying mech, but ultimately no damage to the sparkling, as it is well cushioned and protected inside its carrier's frame.

The gestation tank is made of flexible metal and mesh that can expand and contract. The enterance of the tank is connected to the potential carrying mech's array. Transfluid can enter the tank, and is partially absorbed by the gestation tank's mesh lining. The gestation protocalls are then activated when the carrier-to-be meets a specific criteria embedded in their coding.

The criteria to successfully activate sparkling creation are as follows:

- the carrier must have adequate fuel and mineral reserves to support at least a few weeks of gestation at minimum.

- there must be a newspark created by two or more mechs that is strong enough to support the protoform

you said "mechs get fatter for pregnancy" and my pants had suddenly left the building.

but yes you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT i love these headcanons.

On that second point, did you know that in human pregnancies, the hormones actually relax the ligaments in the body in order to make expanding the pelvis for pregnancy and birth easier? it has the side effect of slightly relaxing every ligament in the body, leading to strange aches and pains, but I think the trouble transforming can absolutely function as a parallel to this human symptom. All the transformation joints loosen and relax to make way for the sparkling's frame, but this means that when transforming,,, nothing quite clicks into place, and when it does, it comes loose again. Like a toy with bad tabs and poor clearances.

Oh yeah sure, anon! This might get long though, so fair warning (I'll put a line break early on haha). But I think my Sg tfp soundstar would be rather similar to my tfp soundstar, or how they're written in my ffs on ao3 (not sure if you've read those).

Meaning that they're rather sweet in private at times, or domestic, and Laserbeak is their sparkling (first child) though unexpected. Laserbeak like before would probably come as a surprise for both like for my tfp soundstar, I've always imagined when Soundwave and Starscream were left on the Nemesis alone, they grow more appreciative and fonder of the other's antics. Starscream understands why Soundwave is good at his job and useful, but also he has more of a personality than he lets on with his silent persona and enjoyment of mocking him (through his reuse of recorded Starscream clips)

However, for SG tfp, they're not as at odds really like their counterparts lmao, they ease into a relationship for all I can see or guess is that they could've always gotten together much faster or developed their feelings/crushes. But no moves were made until it is really just them on a ship floating in space for who knows how long and alone. And just hanging out, maybe listening to music or playing cards.

Anyway it's that time left alone that they get close or closer and Starscream is probably sparked as a result, but he probably can't identify it much. Generally the way I treat mech preg is that a carrier will have thicker plating/metal and can't transform into their alt-modes especially those with jet modes or anything that flies. Also sparklings will appear as egg (even twins can share an egg) but they're not that hard to miss before that once they're developed long enough.

A majority can be rather active and kick their carriers in for example the vents or just their outer metal after appearing which can take some years probably. Meaning it can be a pain for everyone minus the sire who just has to be around and use their EM field to soothe the kicking sparkling or be around to help it grow in development.

Laserbeak is written to be rather mischievous in my tfp works, so she's probably the same before appearing as an egg and in Starscream's pseudo womb-internal chambers. Though once a egg appears, I think they can be even more rambunctious and rowdy since they have a fondness for exploring, so maybe it was a good thing SG tfp and tfp soundstar didn't have much to worry about minus their little egg rolling around as she pleased lol (this is the similar idea in my current ES soundstar work). I tend to overlap my tf mechanisms sometimes, not always, but definitely here.

Sparklings or hatchlings (when hatched out of their egg) as I like to refer to them if they come from transformers who have flight-modes, also like their sires (ALOT, some will even go out of their way to get lost to try and find the sire, but that only occurs if the carrier has mentioned the sire to the sparkling at anytime of their development, as an egg, before they emerged as one. The carrier just needs to have strong feelings/longing/thoughts and the sparkling can usually figure it out by them)/

Sparklings as eggs tend to seek their sire's presence, but I think that can apply all sparklings if created, no matter the alt mode or transformers. Carriers will feel a pull to spend more time with the sire or whoever they feel might be the best fit to sire their sparkling (it doesn't always have to be who helped created the child) and aid their needs.

So I imagine for SG tfp Starscream noticed he felt heavier and his energon supplies weren't being used properly and it took SG tfp Soundwave to notice as well before he put it together that his lover was sparked. Unlike tfp soundstar they're probably less upset or shocked about the outcome of a sparkling too haha. Like tfp Soundwave had to drag Starscream TO get checked by KnockOut, but refused to say he thought his Starscream was sparked/ SG tfp soundstar prob just agreed to check together and were semi hopeful at the thought of a sparkling being created by them.

I think too after learning they were going to have a child SG tfp got married or did the rituals (similar to tfp soundstar), but I think they were more than happy to do it on both ends. TFP Starscream might have felt obligated and assumed Soundwave did too at first, until they make a point to talk.

My SG tfp soundstar is on a better wavelength at first really, they understand each other quite well due to how they see each other highly, compared to tfp soundstar who treat each other more like rivals or a tolerance of each other's antics/mess even when married!

SG tfp would probably still do the same things as my tfp soundstar. Laserbeak would pull pranks with her sire (Soundwave) on her carrier (Starscream) and she has a firmer attachment to Soundwave just due to their compatibility in alt modes. She might like him more because he's the less stern parents sometimes when it comes to her being yelled at. But this might be because SDW uses Star clips to scold her or stare at her with what she feels is also like her carrier's vibe/look of 'you are in trouble young lady' so...maybe everything is just stacked against Starscream in either tfp universe.

SG tfp Soundwave like his counterpart must have a collection of Starscream clips or silly pictures he's collected over the thousands of years they've been around each other. Though SG tfp Starscream probably can be caught being more open about his affection to SG tfp Soundwave. I think all of the vehilcon's get forced to see it, instead of "Do you notice how much Starscream/Soundwave seem to favor one another?" it becomes "Do you notice how much those two keep making us feel single!!! I need to quit, but the pay is good!" 🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, those two will probably end up with more cassettes for Soundwave to have attach to him or cuddle with though I haven't yet thought of the order. In general, it'd have to be Ratbat, Buzzsaw..maybe Rumble and Frenzy then Sundor and SoundBlaster as the last few to join their line up perhaps. 🤔

SG tfp soundstar mirrors TFP soundstar quite well in terms of their relationship/dynamic, just that one couple is more open and domestic for all to see while the other one makes you question if they're actually together or happy. TFP soundstar won't respond when pressed, Knockout for example only knew when he saw the medical files/papers when updated once. Megatron had to be told naturally since...when he left SoundStar wasn't married or had a child hahaa.

They mess with each other, play pranks, love their growing family, and enjoy the silence between them really. That's my take on SG tfp!
