How Joel and Ellie act in the last of us is definitely how I picture Anakin and Leia acting as father and daughter. Especially in a double agent Vader aus.

Canon straight ships in Star Wars always crack me up like
You have Mutually Obsessed and Making That Everyone Else’s Problem (anidala)
Or maybe you want Roguish Princess and Rogue Turned On By That (hanleia)
Maybe even a little “I’m Trying to Kill You, Stop Daydreaming About Being My Best Friend” (lukemara)
And over there in the corner is Only Considered Normal In Comparison to the Given Competition (obitine)
And outside, not even apart of the conversation: Actually Normal Human Beings Who Just Love Each Other With Little to No Murder Being Involved (Bail&Breha, Owen&Beru)

My working theory is that because of the whole force-nepo-baby deal, Anakin and by extension the twins have such a weird and overwhelming force presence, many creatures can't help but be intrigued or even captivated by them – sometimes to a point where it's so confusing/irritating, they have to hurt them about it. Badly.
Now, Anakin had several years of actual Jedi training to help with that, while Leia was raised as a politician and subconsciously figured out how to mask it.
Luke, however, grew up in the middle of nowhere on a desert planet and never learned any of that. This is why he kept being singled out and attacked for no fucking reason at the start.

Star Wars characters in the road trip from hell
Imagine this as the biggest car in human history ok? Also there's not really a timepoint for this so pretend they all like fell into a time portal and this is where they are now
Qui-Gon: Has the map, doesn't know how to read it
Obi-Wan: Had to take the map from qui-gon, refused to talk afterwards
Padme: The only person they could trust with driving
Ahsoka: In charge of the music
Anakin: Is only here in case the car breaks down, doesn't really talk to anyone the whole ride except for "yeah"s and "nah"s
Yoda: Sleeps the whole ride, they accidentally leave him in the car more than once
Luke: Insists on trying to get everyone to play games but it is not working
Leia: Is the only other person who tried to play the car games but after a very heated round of I spy, they are now banned forever
Han: Keeps on talking and half the people are NOT into it
Rey: Really into talking with Han
Ben: Just been listening to music on his phone and doesn't know what's happening, he doesn't care
Finn: The only normal person in this car other than Padme but she checked out by the first 10 minutes so he's pretty much alone
Poe: In charge of the snacks but no one likes the ones he picked

Skywalker/Amidala Family!!

... as cats!! Explanations of each design under cut

He may look a lot like little Anakin, but his eyes (shape), moles, ears, stripes and white markings are from his mom! I just love how, as a fandom, we decided that Luke should look more like Padmé.
He got blue eyes and blond fur from Anakin, although only the few who knew younger Anakin would notice (cries in Obi-Wan)

At first, Leia physically looks more like Padmé than Anakin, brown and white fur with brown eyes, I even gave them almost identical colour palettes BUT since personality-wise she's her father's daughter, her stripes are just like Anakin's. They would look the same (except colour and fur length) if she didn't have white spotting.

I didn't choose any particular cat breeds for them either, just went with the vibes and how they look in the movies/series (Anakin's and Padme´s cat designs are based mainly on their designs in TCW)
More Star Wars as cats: Ahsoka, baby Ahsoka, Disaster lineage, Clones, Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, Wrecker, Echo, Shaak Ti, Asajj Ventress, Aayla Secura, Luminara&Barris, Maul.

Im reading time travel fanfic rn heres a bunch stuff i havent seen yet. Theres A LOT of sw fanfic out there so they might exist but heres what i couldnt find when i did my last time travel fanfic binge back in like 2018 and im looking for now
I said this in its own post but WHERE are the fics where someone from tcw travels to the future, sees how much it SUCKS, and then go off the rails trying to fix it when they return
Old! Man! Clones! gimme one or a group of post- or rebellion era clones that end up in tcw. NO CLONE should be THAT AGE at that point in time and you can take that in so many directions
The time travelers are R2D2 and 3CPO only. This is hilarious chaos
Where are the crack fics? Every single fic is sad
Back in 2018 there was like 2 Ezra Bridger time travel fics DESPITE THE FREAKING FACT he found the world between worlds PLEASE tell me theres more now
Back in 2018 there were almost NO Leia time travel fics PLEASE i want to see her try and murder Anakin on first sight THE ANGST CONTENT IS RIGHT THERE
Han telling Obi-Wan that Leia named their kid after him. Obi-Wan is awkward. Han proceeds to say "the kid still turned to the dark side like his shitty grandpa, but hey, the thought was there!" slaps him on the shoulder and then walks away
Idk what age the twins are but they come from a universe where they grew up with Uncle Ben and around enough of his friends that they learned embarrassing stories about him. Someone says they're in a situation and one of the twins is like "i think what he's saying is this is between a 'told the Jedi Council they could kiss his ass as a teenager' and 'accidentally got married for the fourth time' on the Uncle Ben's Fuck Ups Scale" in front of a Anakin who's only ever seen the Perfect Jedi™️ Obi-Wan Kenobi act
Actually how about adult Anakin meeting teenager Obi-Wan? I havent seen that before
Anakin looking at Leia and immediately seeing Padme before becoming ultimately CRUSHED upon hearing her last name is Organa. Anakin's brain then jumps the gun to "i died in this war and Padme gets remarried"
Luke may be the (highly controversial at this time) Jedi but Leia is the diplomat and manages all the talking at the Temple/with the Council
Leia seeing her parents again!! Not Anakin and Padme. She talks to Bail and Breha!!
Leia spitting fire at Anakin as she yells to everyone in the room what he did to Alderaan. That he is a MONSTER and will NEVER EVER be her father
The tcw Council meeting the og trio. They get upitty about how Luke runs things. They get mad when they find out Leia was married. Han responds that "we're divorced so this attachment thing you're all upset about was apparently not actually a issue for her. Also, shes not a jedi"
Yoda and Luke vibing together on a frequency unseen before. Everyone already doesnt like Luke (the tcw jedi see him as some uneducated hippie) but this is just unnerving
OLD MAN BEN MEETING MASTER OBI-WAN KENOBI. It has been IMPOSSIBLE for me to find a fic with this since ppl always go the "reappear in younger body" trope
EDIT: ive thought of more
Found out i said this years ago but you know what its still true and i only found TWO fics like it when i searched yesterday: Ezra AND Ahsoka in tcw together
Obi-Wan and Luke appear in the tcw era. Obi-Wan convinces Luke to be Luke Lars, Anakin's nephew. Luke tries to get to know Anakin. Anakin tries to come to grips with the son of a guy he met once calling him Uncle Ani
A lot of fics the time traveling jedi just folds and regressed into their past self which is a valid psych thing but you know what fics i dont see? The trust being broken irreversibly. The jedi spent 3 years fighting with the clones and the next TWENTY being hunted by them. Give me a jedi that cant be calm around their old men. That cant walk on a star destroyer without fear. That attacks everyone who loved and trusted them in this time before running because survival takes over. In Obi-Wan's and Ahsoka's case, fight and flee hardest against Anakin
EDIT: more additions
Ben and Leia from the Kenobi series magically appear on the Negotiator/Resolute. Ben looks like he's homeless and Leia is a sassy child. Leia calls Ben "a old man that crawled out of a dumpster" and the clones laugh while Ben looks like he needs a drink. Cody sees how skinny Ben is and gets concerned. Anakin walks in on the clones thirsting over Ben and Anakin is traumatized. Obi-Wan thinks Ben must be a older brother or cousin or other relative of his birth family before he thinks time travel. Everyone thinks Ben is being cute by calling Leia "your highness" and "princess" before whoops what do you mean thats Alderaan's princess???
Same as above but sadder. Ben and Leia manage to slip out and by the time the group figures out Ben is Obi-Wan they're long gone. OR Ben looked around, realized he was surrounded by his trauma, and fought his way out. Either way Ben and Leia end up being chased by them planet to planet

I just found Don't look back (and first of all I love it, you are brilliant, I am barely finished the first fic but I am invested) and I spent some time digging through your tumbler for mentions of obi-wan/leia....because from these beginning interactions I have sense something and I am now invested and kinda confused????
Was this intentional...? Is this going somewhere...? There are no tags for their relationship but by other asks I see on your blog I'm not alone in this thinking.....
I hope she finds happiness. In the beginning I was hoping for some warped way for Han to join her because I love them together so much, but I also do love obi-wan and I am pleasantly hooked on their relationship now
I've answered asks similar to this before, but I keep getting them and we're far enough into the story that I think I can say some things more certainly without spoiling anything, or the plot magically changing on me. So here we go.
So. Like Fire in Our Bones. Leia and Obi-Wan meet for the first time, and I was happy with the scene, and then I posted the chapter and a whole mess of people popped out of the ground were like, "Romance?!?!?!" Keep in mind that this was before the Kenobi show was released as well, so we had no canon where Leia knew Obi-Wan as a child. DLB runs under that assumption.
So I was all, "Oh, surprise," but I'm a very ship and let ship sort of person, and once people pointed it out, I was like, yeah. Sure. They can have this vibe. They would, honestly. I've got a pretty strong head canon that Obi-Wan has been flirting to survive for decades at this point, and Leia is socially savvy enough to roll with that kind of behavior as long as it's not distasteful. She also saves him, and they bond, and I don't have a problem with people reading into that. I think it's reasonable. It's pretty textual at this point.
HOWEVER.
Once upon a time I also thought this story would be 200k words, max. I thought Leia would end the series having reconciled that Anakin wasn't Vader, but wouldn't be close to him. I though Satine would never make an appearance and Cody would be the first clone to like Leia instead of the last, and yeah. A lot of things started changing once I was actually writing the story.
At the beginning of the story, I knew I didn't want to write Leia a romance. A) because I wasn't sure who it should be with and, B) that was way past the where I expected her to be healing wise in her grief. But the story kept getting longer and she and Obi-Wan kept having moments, and I was like, I mean...maybe? Maybe something happens? I can't say no for sure anymore.
BUT!
We're far enough into the story now and I have a much better sense of how this last arc is going to handle the remaining grief Leia is dealing with, and also how much time she'll spend with Obi-Wan. I have no intention of doing a romance for her in this arc. Look how long it took me to get Anakin and Padmé together. We do not have time for that. So I've left Leia with no romantic pairing tags. Officially, the story will not be about her having a committed, happy, healing romantic relationship at this point. It will be about what it always was: cooperation and unity beating back the darkness, and how you have to fight for those things so you don't lose them when you need them most.
But if it makes your heart happy to imagine that all the remaining scenes with her and Obi-Wan are a prelude to something that happens later, feel free to enjoy them that way. Write as much of your own fic or draw as much of your own art as you want. Feel free to share it with me too. I've enjoyed reading the other divergent fics people have done of this story.
Just everyone, please be nice to each other. :)

Acolyte is going to age well, I'm telling you.
It's more true to Star Wars than the Sequels, because it's about the things that Star Wars has always been known for:
FAMILY – and the forces (both light and dark) that try to pull it apart.
In the Prequels, Anakin is constantly trying to protect his family: his mother, Padmé, Obi-Wan, the Chancellor. And it's his intense love toward his family that allows him to be manipulated into darkness, which ultimately tears his family apart.
In the Original Trilogy, the Skywalker family has been torn apart by darkness. But the ties of family between Vader, Luke, and Leia are strong, and it's family that saves Vader in the end.
And in Acolyte, we see a family torn apart by the Jedi, and two sisters constantly reaching for each other across space and time, but forces of darkness and justice get in the way.
In the Sequels there's this found family vibe, which in general is great, but in the movies you never get this sense that Rey holds any important family connection with anyone.
CORRUPTION – in others, the people you love, and in the institutions you trust.
In the Prequels, we see the corruption in the Senate, the corruption in the Jedi Order, and Anakin's corruption from light into dark.
In the Original Trilogy, we see the corruption of the Empire, but we also see the seeds of corruption from the old Jedi Order, with Yoda and Obi-Wan constantly telling Luke that he must kill his own father. We see Vader's corruption, and we see Luke unravel it.
In Acolyte, we see Mae corrupted by the dark side, we see Osha corrupted by her own feelings, and we see the Jedi corrupted by their own belief that they are the saviors of the galaxy, that they did the right thing.
In the Sequels, we see Luke, a Jedi, almost killing his nephew– this is absolutely corruption within the Jedi, but this is unbelievably out of character for Luke, who forgave his father, a mass murderer. We also see Ben Solo, but we never see him being corrupted by the dark side. We just see he's pretty much already there.
REDEMPTION – for those who seek it, and those who defy it.
In the Prequels, we are shown the path that takes Anakin into darkness.
And in the Original Trilogy, we are shown a man who defies his own redemption because he believes he does not deserve it, and that it's far too late– and yet he finds redemption anyway.
In Acolyte, almost every Jedi we're introduced to seeks redemption because of the terrible thing they've done, because of the secret they keep. I wouldn't say any of them are actually redeemed, but seeking redemption is an important part of this story for the Jedi characters.
In the Sequels… Yeah Ben Solo is redeemed but redemption isn't exactly a "theme" of the movies.
LOVE – complete, unconditional love, beyond reason.
In the Prequels, Anakin and Padmé share a love like this. Anakin doesn't deny killing younglings, and Padmé (while deeply upset and disturbed) does not stop loving him for what he's done.
In the Original Trilogy, Luke has never known his father, he doesn't have memories of a man who was once kind an honorable and good. All he knows is Darth Vader. And yet, he is willing to forgive his father because he loves him.
In Acolyte, Mae and Osha have both betrayed each other, have both done unspeakable things in each other's eyes, and yet their love for each other never falters. It remains, strong and forgiving, always.
In the Sequels… Is love a main "theme" of the Sequels? Yeah, Leia and Han love their son, but they've kind of given up on him and their marriage, Kylo Ren and Rey do not know each other well enough at all to be in love, and Luke apparently gave up on that unconditional love he got from his mother which allowed him to forgive his father. IDK love isn't a huge part of the Sequels.
POLITICS – I just need to point it out, almost every Star Wars movie or TV series that's actually good includes a lot of politics that's clearly explained and makes a lot of sense.
In the Prequels, we are introduced to the politics of the Galactic Republic, as well as the politics of the Jedi Order.
In The Clone Wars, there are whole story arcs based on politics (that whole arc about deregulating the banks?).
In the Original Trilogy, we hear about the Emperor's political maneuvers and how he's disbanded the Senate. We also come to understand the the Empire rules through fear, military might, and destruction of their opposition.
In Acolyte, we see Jedi politics play out, and we hear about how there are a few senators who do not trust the Jedi and the power they have.
What politics are we given in the Sequels? First Order, bad. Rebels good. And also repeat of the Original Trilogy. Oh, the New Order rules with military might and fear, and they have a Death Star thing. Okay? We've seen all this before.
*Disclaimer: When I'm talking about the Sequels, I'm talking about the movies, not the books. I have not read the books.

Came across this rather, uh, amusing take in the tags....
The SW Prequels:

Now, I'm not entirely sure what definition of 'female gaze' this post is using (apparently 'close-up shots of hands' is what constitutes female gaze???), but all I could think was... what films were they watching exactly???? But if they are defining it loosely as 'visuals and/or cinematography that appeals to female viewers' or even 'characters and themes that appeal to female viewers'.....then well....
**Note: I fully acknowledge that, purely as an academic term, the entire concept of 'female gaze' is up for debate. There's still a question as to whether or not it is a 'real' phenomenon. That said, I'm addressing its colloquial fandom use in this case.
Let's go through each film, shall we....
The Phantom Menace

Maybe people on tumblr are too young to remember what a splash Queen Amidala made when TPM was first released. Not only was she and her homeworld of Naboo our first real glimpse of the now-iconic 'Space Baroque' vibe of the SW Prequels, but she was also a first for Star Wars in other ways. A teenage girl who was also a mysterious queen of her world, a fearless leader who was backed up and protected by her very own band of loyal handmaidens. And while she was hinted to eventually become the mother of Luke and Leia, at this point in the story, her charcter arc did not revolve around a romance or a male character, but rather was mainly about being the best leader she could be, and helping to free her world and her people. A very fitting story arc for such a young female heroine. All of this was so incredibly formative and appealing to me, as an also fourteen year old girl, when I first watched this movie.
On top of that, Queen Amidala's makeup and fashion styles were extremely trendy and I even went to school wearing her iconic face make up and lipstick at one point. Women and girls wanted to cosplay her, and still do, to this day. There were Queen Amidala dolls with gorgeous dresses that you could collect, whereas before SW merch had been dominated mainly by action figures geared towards boys and adult male collectors. The character in TPM was pretty much tailor-made made to appeal to young female viewers.

And then we get to the male eye-candy in this film....

There was Ewan as young Obi-Wan, of course, who appealed to many, but as for myself, I was head over heels for Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn.

That long flowing hair and ruggedly handsome face! He was just so calm, strong, and comforting to watch, and he had great chemistry with the actress who played Shmi. So swoony!
2) Attack of the Clones

Moving on to the second film of the Prequels, we come now to the forbidden love story, Padme Amidala's stunning wardrobe, and of course, heartthrob Hayden Christensen as padawan Anakin Skywalker.
Once again, I can only speak for myself as someone who was a young female fan when this film came out in 2002. But I had the AotC teaser poster hanging above my bed and would stare at it dreamily for hours.

And, amusingly enough, one of my first introductions to Hayden Christensen was in an article featuring an interview with Natalie Portman who described him as a 'very sexy guy', lol. So I was introduced to the very idea of him first via the 'PoV' of the actress herself...

The above image is by Annie Liebovitz from a promotional photoshoot for a magazine article about AotC. Note that Padme is wearing a sensual nightrobe but is largely covered up here. It's Anakin who is wearing the low-cut, loose fititng top that shows off his lean torso. His body is the sort that appeals to younger women, not the steroid-induced, muscle-bound hypermasculine nonsense that largely appeals to the stereotypical male gaze.
Before we even go deeper into the romance between Anakin and Padme, there's an establishing shot in the Outlander club scene where Anakin is shown to the be highly-desireable object of many of the patrons' gazes....
Later on in the film, there's some even more obvious eye candy and fanservice to audiences of the time, with the semi-shirtless Anakin writhing suggestively on the bed scene...
And, if it's you're thing, there's also wet Obi-Wan Kenobi....
Certain scenes likewise makes it clear that when it comes to Anakin and Padme in this film... Padme is, uh, 'the one on top', here...
Overall, despite AotC's detractors decrying the 'bad dialogue', in a purely VISUAL sense, this film had a huge focus on romance, romantic scenes and imagery, and romantic moments -- probably the most focus in a SW film since the Han x Leia scenes in ESB. And all with Natalie Portman dressed in a fantastic, scene-stealing wardrobe designed by Trish Biggar that would give even the most lavish period dramas or Old Hollywood productions a run for their money.
3) Revenge of the Sith
Ok, where do I even begin.... we have Obi-Wan and Anakin in all their glory
Then we have gorgeous bittersweet Anakin and Padme reunion moments (note the focus on *Anakin's* face and *Anakin's* sensuous lips here)....
Then the iconic nightmare scene and the romantic moments in Padme's apartment, once again ft. Hayden's bare torso and chest....
And the unbearable heartbreaking moment when Anakin makes his fatal decision, when he and Padme sense each other in the Force and look out towards one each other across the romantic space-fairytale Coruscant cityscape as the sun sets upon the Republic..
Many female fans also seem to fan themselves at the sigh of 'dark side' Anakin/Vader on Mustafar in all his fallen angel fury...

Ultimately, to each their own in terms of what appeals. 'Appealing to female gaze' is very subjective topic, after all. BUT, to say there wasn't 'a single minute of female gaze' in the Star Wars Prequels seems to point to an extremely limited and, well, completely inaccurate 'reading' of those films.
Padme's entire gorgeous wardrobe (which may show skin atimes, but which is NOT always heavily sexualised, but rather focuses on gorgeous embroidery and rich textures and fabrics, etc) and the highly fanservice-y Shirtless Anakin scenes alone demonstrate such a claim is pretty baseless:

In your au, (jks)
If leia was the one to travel back in time and stabbed the chancellor with a spork i like to think that everyone would immediately clock her as anakin's kid. with luke it's always the name that gives him away, but i feel like here every one just gets a read on her vibe and is like oh no skywalker spawned
anakin frankly doesn't see it, and he says as much to the council who are trying to stifle their laughter bc leia pulled the exact same pose when they tried to tell her off for sporking the supreme chancellor
THEY HAD US IN THE FIRST HALF SENTENCE, NOT GONNA LIE--
but LMAO YES,, anidala gets revealed bc this child is so clearly theirs. even ppl who weren't suspicious before are like "Idk HOW but this is yours. definitely anakin's and probably padmé's. wtf"
also love u saying it as "oh no skywalker spawned" like every force-sensitive gets a notification that the galaxy and the force just got a WHOLE lot more chaotic

Hey happy May 4th may the 4th be with you and all that remember when I posted about Anakin being Icarus coded well due to the occasion I decided im going to yap about it cause im actually really normal
Basically im going to be a nerd and talk about two of my hyper-fixations (Fable and Star Wars) under the cut
So so so
My friend was so correct in making the comment about Icarus being Anakin coded. Because oh they so are. The need for approval, the need to feel important and do something wrong with the excuse in their head of doing it to protect the people they love- it’s so Icarus coded.
If I was to make a proper Star Wars AU, I’d probably use the original trilogy-
Luke is Icarus so I can do the hey Fable is your dad and they’re tempted by the dark side and also in the sequels they can just fuck off to the middle of nowhere and that’s basically Icarixis.
Then Leia is so Rae coded regardless- prince being adopted by like Enderian or something and falling in love with rugged scoundrel guy (me too) who would most likely be Caspian.
Dare I say Athena and Jamie are R2D2 and C-3PO coded? Because they are.
Also hey looks at Star Wars rebels Hera and Kanan are very coded to like multiple people but dare I say Wolftross.
But that’s just me assigning characters. I could literally just write fable in a Star Wars universe and I could give so so much lore on that.
Like yes Icarus is extremely Sith coded. Rae is very Jedi coded. Athena is Ahsoka Tano coded. They’re a gray Jedi. Listen to mee.
The different species. Rae being a Jedi and having to struggle with the fact that he’s falling in love with not just one but 3 people. I could make a whole arc about that. Or also balancing being a prince and political figure (Padme Amidala and Leia style)
Icarus turning to the Dark Side because their father is turning them in that direction.
Athena would have a whole arc of finding out their connection to the force. If I run with the Ahsoka Tano coding, I stare at the S1 training arc. With Dark side corrupt Icarus. Anyways.
Or- If I’m focusing on Icarus (which, when am I not-), I could to multiple ways.
One- They have no connection to the force. Like, how, in Fable they don’t have a connection to the creation powers.
Two- Their emotion causes a rift between them and their connection to the force. Anakin coding of their driven by their emotion and that results in their connection to the dark side.
Three- Taking the above but running with their connection to Midas over Fable. (Midas would be a grey Jedi, they conceal their identity and train orphaned or wayward kids who have a connection to the force. They would be able to see Icarus’s Midochlorian count and see that it would be high enough for them to have a connection with the force, but due to their emotion and lack of proper training they can’t control it yet. Maybe Midas trains them.
Centross and Wolf give me Smuggler vibes. Maybe they’re force sensitive, maybe they aren’t. But also- smuggler Centross and Jedi Icarus would just be kind of silly. He’d be good at it too.
Or- Smuggler Fenris and Bounty Hunter Centross. Because- self explanatory. Violet Reaper being a Mandalorian or something sounds so neat. I could design the Mandalorian armor right now- actually. I might draw that later.
There’s also the thing of former soldiers, and I could go in depth on various eras of war in Star Wars but I think it would suffice to say that Fenris is like- either former clone general or former Storm Trooper general. (Leaning towards storm trooper but it just depends on the era this would take place in. If I go for clones Icarus is so clone coded. But I digress.)
Caspian also is giving smuggler vibes, and I could see Him, Aax, and Rae traveling together on a ship. Maybe they pick up the others along the way. (Something something the Lodestar and they smuggle people for the rebellion and just do general smuggling jobs as well as shipment jobs)
Anyways I need to stop so I don’t keep yapping. I could go on. Maybe I should write a Star Wars AU at this rate. Who knows maybe I will.
(Thanks for reading this far I hope you enjoy the rest of your scrolling and things have good timezone)

truly thought no one would care for the space regency,,, I see now that I was wrong-
I’m not sure when I’m going to draw next, so I’m answering some questions en masse under the cut
I lost the ask but it was about the Mandalorians in medieval armor, and I see this vision and I like this vision but it is not my vision. I’m thinking full Jane Austen and Bridgerton s1 & 2 vibes just with space ships instead of carriages, so the Mandalorians are more like people who live out in the countryside. They are wealthy from beskar trade and have status, but they don’t really socialize outside of their planet so they are a bit off-putting (especially Bo-Katan). I also think it is interesting to explore how Din would use the rules of society as armor to hide behind! The scandal of a layman with a son becoming the Duke of Mandalore; Din would have to adapt quickly and learn how to use his words and actions as weapons.
Padmé and the handmaidens: Padmé got voted in as Duchess at 14 because of her work with her father building homes for the poor on Naboo. She was the kind of person who cared a lot about each person they did work for and made an effort to try and improve their lives as much as she could. Her handmaidens stick to the original 5, but also go by their original names (ie Sabé is Tsabin, Rabé is Rabene, etc). They aren’t trained in defense, but they are Padmé’s closest friends as being suddenly placed as Duchess of an entire planet is very isolating. Tsabin could switch places with Padmé when they were younger, and at the beginning of her rule did at Particularly boring parties, but eventually gave it up when Padmé’s passion for the job outweighed her hesitations.
Alderaan and the Organas: Leia mainly grew up on Alderaan. Bail Organa was Padmé’s first supporter in the House of Lords, and they’re very close. Breha spends a lot of time on Alderaan learning from and supporting her people, which Padmé greatly admires and she wants to give Leia a better political education than herself and trusts Bail and Breha. Leia goes to Alderaan sort of like boarding school, but it’s a one-on-one sort of thing with her and the Organas. When Leia entered society she moved back to Naboo full time to learn about her own people and their needs.
When does Luke enlist? Well, he doesn’t. I think the sort of isolation that we see cannon Luke have in BOBF/sequels comes from him being the Only Jedi, but that wouldn’t really still work if there’s a royal funded army all his life. I think of Luke in this au as someone fully aware that he isn’t heir to the duchy, he’s not even a spare. He kinda fills the role of “woman who must marry” in that way. He’s extremely well-bred, knows all the rules of polite society, speaks multiple languages, etc etc but he has no real political power. His best trait, as society sees it, is giving someone the ability to marry into a family with wealth and very good connections. If Din had to learn quickly how to use the rules of society as weapons, Luke’s been doing it all his life. They make good sparring partners as conversationalists.
Which, while we’re talking about being enlisted, Anakin is dismissed from the Royal Galactic Army when the queen learns he’s engaged to Padmé. It is unbecoming of a gentleman in such a position to be a soldier. But on the bright side, Anakin never felt comfortable or wanted to be in the Army, he just did it because he felt indebted to Qui-Gonn. He does actually really enjoy being at home with the twins when they are so young, and when Leia starts visiting Alderaan on long trips Anakin splits his time between doing woodwork and construction with Ruwee in Theed and visiting Tattooine with Luke.
What is Han like in this au? Han is Han, which is to say he’s a pilot. He’s specifically a cargo pilot looking into entering the trade world, which is why he is initially interested in making acquaintance with the twins. They are very close with their Uncle Obi-Wan who owns a very profitable kyber mine but doesn’t have much time to run it (smth Luke helps out with when he’s older) and wouldn’t that be just the perfect place for a nobody like Han to get his foot in the door? Transporting expensive crystals, be a shame if someone were to skim some for their own sales, especially someone courting Leia. It would be quite the scandal don’t you think?
By the time we get to the “sequels”, the lineage is: Padmé has passed and Leia is Duchess of Naboo. She has one son, Ben, and Han has left the picture (he still loves Leia, he just couldn’t do the whole society thing. He didn’t realize what a bad spot socially that put Leia and all of Naboo in) Din is Duke of Mandalore, and Luke is the Duke Consort of Mandalore. They have three children, Grogu, Finn and Rey (all adopted, and in space regency that’s legitimate). I kind of imagine the prequels, ot, and sequels of this au as like different tv seasons, so the main plot of “season 3” is that Rey is the only female relative of Leia, and the Queen decides that she is to take on the Duchy of Naboo when Leia passes. This makes Ben Very Angry, and he starts stirring up political trouble (as if Naboo wasn’t already having a hard enough time). Luke is also displeased with the decision to make Rey next in line because he and Din raised their children not to be politicians but to have good lives. Finn started studying politics simply because he had interest in it, and it was sort of an open secret that once he was ready Din would give him the Broach (stand in for dark saber) so like all this Rey stuff throws a wrench in their plans for Rey’s life. Plus that’s his baby!!! His youngest!! He doesn’t want her to go :( I’m only halfway through the book but “season 3” has Emma by Jane Austen vibes in my mind.
That all took like an hour to write up I don’t know how fic writers do it. I hope that all makes sense?? I’m happy to yap more if anyone wants, and I have some ideas to draw so we will see if I end up actually posting. Thanks if you read all this way!! I’m gonna use the tag “keylime space regency” to organize this stuff so if I post more of this au that’ll be the place to go :)

things that made me cry, and things I thought that were badass in star wars the phantom menace:
Qui Gon Jin touching Obi Wan's face before he died.
Qui Gon Jin acting like a dad towards little Ani.
Qui Gon Jin in general because I love his actor so much.
Padme sassying Qui Gon Jin
Padme being so gentle, protective and kind towards Ani
Padme hating the injustice that Shmi has to deal with.
Padme's outfits
Padme's handmaidens
Padme keeping guns hidden in her thrown.
Just all of Naboo. So beautiful I can't believe this is where Luke and Leia are from. It's so beautiful, I LOVE settings like this in Sci fi and fantasy movies.
In contrast I hate Tatooine. But God how the people made it look was so good. But yeah I hate desert planets in Sci fi.
Little Anakin and his mom just making me cry and hate the jedi and Palpatine so much.
Padme being so smart!! Her whole taking back Naboo plan was brilliant.
Obi Wan looking like a angry tiger during his fight with Maul.
Obi Wan in general. Though I hate how he treated Anakin at first.
I really love the poltics in this movie. My favorite things in star wars prequels is oddly the lore poltics.
Darth Maul's whole entrance and his body paint.
Queen Amidala in general she has so many Darth Vader vibes.
The gunga's underwater kingdom(though yeah the gungas aren't that great) is so beautiful looking and I wish the used mermaid and underwear humanoid creatures instead.
Padme just whenever she's on screen.
Padme and Anakin moments are so sweet and make cry.
Anakin and Shmi's goodbye!!
Over all love the movie so much.
