ranking of the coolest ancient greek conjunctions:
καί ... καί: at first it looked a little silly and i was just glad to have a conjunction i could easily remember. i have since been made aware of by several people that i keep using its' translation in my mother tongue all the time. also: i just learned that καί is the most frequent word in ancient greek texts and that you can use statistics to figure out the author of a text based on how many times it's used ? neat
οὐ μόνον … ἀλλὰ καί: sounds beautiful, rolls of your tongue easily, not only an elegant way to connect thoughts but also really drives home your point. one of the first words we learned so needless to say i am hopelessly dependent on it. in my mind it wears a pink bow on its' head all the time 🎀
μέν ... δέ: now i know that one the one hand this should've been in first place cause this is the ancient greek conjunction. you can basically extend it endlessly. μέν δέ δέ δέ δέ etc. it's a bickering married couple. it's what plato meant when he said "ὥσπερ γε καὶ Σιμμίαν τις ἰδὼν πολλάκις Κέβητος ἀνεμνήσθη, καὶ ἄλλα που μυρία τοιαῦτ’ ἂν εἴη" (Plat. Phaid. 73d). on the other hand καί … καί is my beautiful lover sooo
ὅτι: placing it fourth because it's a hottieeeee
ὥσπερ: i just like how it sounds. ὥσπερ, ὥσπερ, ὥσπερ. i wish you could extend it like you can with μέν … δέ. that's the only criticism i have
γάρ: timeless classic. truly the only conjunction you need to know (next to καί) to translate basic sentences. a friendly acquaintance. i'll place it 6th though, since it's a bit overused imo
οὔτε … οὔτε: καί … καί's evil twin, but equally as silly sounding. neither good nor bad, so i'll just place it down here
ὡς: technically ὥσπερ is derived from this, but ὡς looks boring. it wishes it could have what ὥσπερ has. sorry
εἰ, εἴπερ: you really need to pay attention to whether it's followed by an imperfect, which i never do, so it stresses me out, even if it's not followed by an imperfect
τοίνυν: i can never remember that this is a conjunction rather than a pronoun, and even if i do, i always forget how to translate it. therefore this places last for me

The other day archaeostoryteller made a great post that touched my soul 😢
It was about a funeral stele showing the death of two young brothers, one at a wedding age (Sosmenes) and the other younger than three years old (Sokrates). The loutrophoros (high slim jag) symbolizes the older brother's age since they used it to wash the bride and groom, and the khous (small round pitcher) where they offered wine to three-year-olds in the festival of Anthesteria.
Even today the Greeks bring wedding elements (such as stefana and koufeta) to the funerals of the young and unmarried.

As the days pass, I'm losing my way.
The tiny pieces of my existence is being ripped away. I'm not myself anymore. I can't find the "me" that once resided this fragile frame.
The more people i converse with, the more i evolve and disintegrate. they put a piece of me in their pocket, some in their locket and some lock it in the deepest trench to be never seen again. Hideous charms!
I can't shake this feeling that i care too much, too little or not enough.Am I trying too much to be nice? Am i actually nice? Is this all an act? I can't seem to find an answer. I should know. But i don't. But it feels good to be kind, to care about a stranger's day and a stranger's way.
this little world have so much hate and my little world is full of hope and despair. As i look at the sky for an escape, the clouds are moving away from eachother. As if it's trying to get away from being fully consumed. As if it too is looking for an escape.I need a peaceful sleep from this eternal nightmare. But I'm running...still running away from the sillage of forget-me-nots.

hello, i have a question regarding sunak the bradwurst... what is the origin of that weird sonic design? i can't seem to find it cause all i get is unrelated shit like this rishi sunak guy and sausages. and are the beefhog games related?
I had a whole description for this written out but it never got saved on the website (which is currently down) but the context behind that was from a different drawing back in 2011 by UltraJMan, made during a MegaGWolf livestream IIRC.
My memory is foggy on the details but that's more or less where it started.

Job Chapter 27
Job starts talking about the fate of the wicked and I'm confused
Did Job and his friends switch positions? Or is he coming around to agree with them. First off, he still says that he's innocent. He isn't speaking blasphemy. He's not saying anything that is out of bounds. He's truly in pain. He's truly speaking on behalf of humanity against his friends who seem to be too immersed in the G-d justice mindset to have any empathy.
Tumblr media
But then it sounds as if he is agreeing with them. He's saying everything that they said back to them. When he says "let my enemy be like the wicked?" whom is he referring to? His friends that came to fight with him? Satan?
Then he goes on about the fate of the wicked and he sounds like his friends from discourse two who wouldn't stop saying that the wicked eventually fail and lose everything.
Is he mocking them? Agreeing with them? Is he being sarcastic or has he come around to their way of thinking?
Tumblr media
Um...seriously what fucking book are you reading?
The part in the middle where he askes "will they call upon G0d at all times?" might mean that his friends are going to face the same trials. Only that seems to be what they are saying too
But then Job says that God punishes the wicked. There's a long discourse on how Job punishes the wicked. It makes no fucking sense in context unless Job is saying that the wicked are his friends. Or is he going "Yes, the wicked are going to lose everything, but I'm not wicked and your implication that I am wicked is nasty."
Fucking hell, that completely contradicts everything that Job said to his friends in previous chapters.
Tumblr media
I'm still holding out hope that he's being sarcastic and repeating what his friends said in order to tell them that they are fucking idiots.

A dakhma (Persian: دخمه), also known as a Tower of Silence, is a circular, raised structure built by Zoroastrians for excarnation (that is, the exposure of human corpses to the elements for decomposition), in order to avert contamination of the soil and other natural elements by the dead bodies.Carrion birds, usually vultures and other scavengers, consume the flesh. Skeletal remains are gathered into a central pit where further weathering and continued breakdown occurs.
