i don’t think we talk enough about how hetty had a momentary freak out over learning she’s irish to instantly switching into ‘how can i make this useful to me’ and she starts saying shit like “haven’t my proud people suffered enough” without a hint of irony in her tone and that is very special to me
Emotionally Vulnerable one moment, uses that Vulnerability to become Manipulative. She’s so evil it’s hilarious.

Can we all collectively agree to
a) FUCKING STOP PUTTING WHITE WOMAN IN PIPERS MOOD BOARDS. She’s not white. (I can’t spell what her race/ethnicity is I’m sorry I’m slow)
b) LET HER BE A TOMBOY. She’s a tomboy please please please. She’s a butch sapphic you guys she hates dresses and makeup and feminine things please. I feel like she would dress like Adam Sandler or smth give my girl some worn out capris and converse and a stupid fucking T-shirt please. Or make her scene that’s also acceptable.
c) PLEASE stop saying she’s canonically lesbian. You’re allowed to hc her as such that’s fine idc but she’s CANONICALLY unlabeled. Please let us unlabeled peeps have some representation in peace
anyway that’s all I dunno

Hunters Unlucky currently occupying as much brainspace as I can give it. Please take one of the passages that makes me go "oh..." harder than anything (the audiobook narrator's performance on it is also wonderfully devastating.)

i talked on twt about how i don’t think that the drakes were good parents and how their relationship with tim is very complex and i interpret it based on my own family and how i grew up and they did not like that at all
but yeah the drakes loved tim but neglect is still a form of abuse and sending your kid to boarding school while you travel the world is not the greatest parenting technique

I used my wheelchair for the first time in school today and it's so strange how it becomes this open invitation for people to guess at or question your medical status. Like, the assumption that this is a permanent thing, or that I'm injured (I've never seen a bright green hospital chair but ok) or to ask me about how long this will be going on for etc. etc.
And, I don't really blame the people asking all that much. For them, it's a way to show that they care about my wellbeing. It's the society they've all grown up in that tells them that this question is ok to ask and fails to educate them about disability. That's what's created this. Trying to show care ends up becoming ableism and ignorance when the world chooses to ignore disabled people and our lives.
So, yeah.

A lot of peeps keep talking about how Dumbledore saw Sirius as a stand in for Grindelwald (and accordingly punished him for it) but is there any meta on this? I’d be interested to read it

To me the funniest thing about this post is the people in the tags listing exactly 1 vitamin that cured them. Amazing.
My deepest darkest fantasy is that I collapse on the street and I am rushed to the hospital. They perform a bunch of tests and find out I am severely deficient in some kind of vitamin. Then I start taking the vitamin and I become the happiest cleverest person alive because all my problems were caused by this one deficiency

slightly furious reminder that fish do in fact feel pain and do in fact experience fear and distress when in pain since people seem to love spreading the myth that fish don't feel pain. what is it with people assuming a creature is incapable of feeling pain or emotion just because it doesn't have complex facial muscles. come on gang

I'm as grateful for cellphones as the next person, but sometimes I think about how everyone having a phone on them at all times really did cause us to loose some things as a society. I mean - for example, kids these days will never experience their car breaking down and needing to find the nearest place with a phone they can use. They're never going to have the opportunity to tentatively approach a house only to discover that it's full of queer people having a party hosted by a transvestite to celebrate his creation of a sex homunculus, stay the night, and loose their virginity while unintentionally partaking in cannibalism. It's tragic, that kind of gay sexual awakening just doesn't happen these days because of cellphones.

i will not accept gale slander
Gale's home was wiped out by drone strikes ordered by a much richer entity that exploits poorer regions, and he responded by designing bombs for use against civilians who are citizens of that entity. I think Collins meant to depict what causes young men to be radicalized into joining organizations that take violent action against the civilians of the powerful states that destroy their homes and kill their friends and neighbors. Collins comes from a military family. She wrote the books during the War on Terror. The metaphor is not subtle.
I think people reduce the character of Gale to a jealous pickme "Prim reaper" because he makes them deeply uncomfortable. His character is a stark, unusual and brutally honest depiction of how exploitation and drone strikes targeting civilian population centers might drive a survivor to want revenge.
But Americans do not want to see themselves as Capitol citizens. We want to see ourselves as the scrappy underdogs, so we relate to the District people. Thus the entire point of Gale's arc is overlooked, because we don't want to have to examine the metaphor and grapple with what it means.
