Cunning Hares Headcanons

First of many posts sharing my personal interpretations on ZZZ characters and their dynamics!

Nicole Demara - 27-28, Mexican/Indian, trans woman, sapphic

Anby Demara - 19, Filipino, demigirl (enby Anby rights), aroace spectrum, definitely has autism.

Billy Kid - 27-28 (at least with physical/mental age… there’s a very reasonable chance he’s been active for a long or short period of time), Argentenian (idc if he’s a robot, he’s latino in my heart), bisexual, inherently got some genderqueerness by being a robot but primarily male/masc, and sentience gave him adhd /hj

Nekomata (Nekomiya Mana) - 15, Black/Japanese, sapphic, potentially has adhd and/or autism (she hasn’t really looked into it much)

Billy doesn’t like rock music (that much anymore) because it was all the Sons of Calydon played on the road. All the time. So he (understandably) needs a break from it.

While we’re on the subject, I’m so curious about classical music putting him to sleep. Does he mean standard “lullaby songs” like Clair de Lune or Sugarplum Fairy? Or would this guy conk out to a Dies Irae? Classical/orchestral music has. A very very wide range.

This is technically more related to Sons of Calydon, and we can’t really say who he does/doesn’t know in the gang yet (Caeser for sure, most likely Piper— Burnice and Lighter are kinda up in the air, but they probably know our silly android man too… and I’m betting Lucy is the newest member? There’s a chance they could know each other— like she joined and he left a little after). But!!! He was often sent out to get booze for the gang because everyone mistakes Piper for a high schooler. Even with a proper ID.

So far the only instance of Billy’s guns “talking” a la Liz and Patty Thompson is from his combat promo video and that’s it… I really really hope we get more elaboration on that at some point. But for now! He totally named them: Annie (the more demure personality) and Jane (the less enthused one)

Unless canon reveals something that makes this completely go out the window… Nicole used to be a defense attorney. Because a briefcase as a weapon is a very lawyer coded trait, you need to have a pretty solid understanding of laws to run a business— especially more legally ambiguous ones like an odd job agency, and y’know. Law school debt.

It’s a big part of why she involves herself in representing Canvas Street against Vision as well!! Though she’s not an attorney again by a long shot— for one, she’s on the prosecuting side against Vision, and she lost her attorney license years before starting Gentle House. But the point still stands that Elle Woods, Mia Fey, and Phoenix Wright walked so Nicole Demara could run

Most humanoid/half(?) thirens are born with animal ears and tails— but there are several genetic exceptions to this standard. Nekomata, for example, has cat ears… and cat feet. Without her special boots and mechanical tails to keep her balanced, it’s incredibly difficult for her to even stand up. In other words, she’s a disabled icon.

Understandably, it takes her a long time to feel comfortable/safe enough in places to keep bare feet. Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you’re an embarrassed little teenage thiren), all of the Cunning Hares can pick up Nekomata and carry her around no problem! They’re more than happy to do this (and/or just get stuff for her) if she doesn’t have her boots on at home.

Nekomata gets very snuggly and affectionate when she’s asleep. She likes to lay with all her teammates at different times, but the most frequent victim is Billy. I mean c’mon, he’s a walking heater.

Billy: We had a bonding moment! I cradled you in my arms!

Nekomata: Nope!!! Don’t remember!!! Didn’t happen!!

Anby occasionally gets ptsd nightmares from her days in the defense force. It used to be a lot more severe when she just joined Nicole… and by force of habit, Anby sneaks into her room the most. Billy and Nekomata catch her drinking tea in the middle of the night sometimes though, and promptly set up a pillow fort on the couch for everyone to hang out in so Anby doesn’t feel so alone.

Nicole: What are you guys doing making so much noise????

Billy: Shut your mouth and get in the pillow fort, Boss.

Nekomata has a collection of fidget items. It’s got every thing from puzzle cubes to random pieces of string. Honestly I could see her picking up crochet, kumihimo (cord weaving), and/or other textile hobbies to keep her hands busy.

The other three have all tried the flashlight thing™️ with her. It works a little too well (Like “Duke do you want the ball?” too well— she just flies across the room).

Anby, much like her interest in movies, has a very wide range of music she likes. It’s anybody’s guess as to what she’s listening to at a given time.

Nicole: Wow, Anby’s really focused right now… I wonder what she’s listening to?

Anby’s headphones: 🎶 Life is like a hurricaaaane here in! Duckberg! 🎶

Nicole has so much rabbit themed stuff. Plushies, little figures, definitely some scarves and hats, etc. Most of them are gifts from people she’s known in the past, along with the other CH of course.

Nicole and Nekomata would play Animal Crossing together, Billy would freaking love the Kirby series, and I think Anby would really enjoy Miitopia/Tomodachi Life

Billy’s definitely the most proficient gamer of the team. Fighting games, racing games, what have you… he’s won most matches, sometimes without even meaning to. Nicole and Nekomata argue he’s “cheating” because he’s literally got a computer for a brain… and if Billy responds with something akin to “git gud,” his ass is getting tackled.

We know from when Billy appears at the arcade after you played a little, he supposedly has moments where he’s “cursed” and doesn’t play as well with the CH— I don’t know if performance anxiety has anything to do with it (he’s really not the type)— but given Nicole’s association with divination, Nekomata’s inherent connection to yokai and Japanese supernatural, and the CH’s luck motif in general… it’s very funny to think that they “manifest” periods where they can beat him at games. I think if Billy found out, he’d be a little miffed they were trying to nerf him but… honestly it’s really funny and he’s a good sport. They’ll probably stop once he actually knows, though. Anby has literally no part in this, she just finds it entertaining /hj

Anby has to try a burger from literally every restaurant she goes to if it serves them. Practically a connoisseur at this point, though it’s rare for her to find a burger she doesn’t like (unless it’s like. Raw meat or something).

Forgive me for the Soul Eater coming out again, but I’m so fascinated by Nekomata’s socks saying tsubaki on them. And the flower buttons and stuff in her design in general. The flower in general representing devotion. Red camellias (tsubaki in Japanese) represent being in love, or perishing with grace. Yellow represent longing. White represent waiting. “A flower without fragrance. When the petals fall, it is silent and tragic.” There’s so much we can unpack about all of this with our catgirl.

Anby and Billy do it the most, but they all have silly quips of quoting different movie/tv show/internet media lines. They all kinda learn about different stuff through this osmosis.

Nekomata was the most hesitant to warm up to Billy because he reminds her a lot of Miguel Silver. I know we don’t have much about Silver in canon, but… Very competent and can be genuinely threatening, but also a lot more emotional and sentimental than most people would probably expect. I was surprised and kinda endeared when Silver was introduced sobbing and all dramatic as he spoke lmao.

I don’t think she fears a fallout like RFG happening again (at least, it’s not a major anxiety). The fact the CH committed to helping Canvas Street without a second thought is enough proof to her that they’re really not the types to be morally corrupted and all that. But… running into someone who reminds you of a past relationship— but who’s like. Better morals or more well-adjusted or whatever. That feels. So weird. It makes Nekomata think about what could’ve been. Why did her adoptive father become such a hypocrite— how is a robot more sincere about values than he was?

She definitely warms up to Billy a lot more by Ch 3/Ballet Twins stuff. I think it’d be sweet if she talked about her grief with him— Nicole and Anby too, tbh. Even if she separated herself once things weren’t sitting right with her (which takes so much internal strength), Silver was still her dad. She probably found out about his fate in the news broadcast at the very beginning of the game…

Yeah that's definitely also another reason why she clings to Billy the most in her sleep too. She misses her papa,,, and you tend to go towards the familiar and all that.

Anby keeps a small journal of letters to Soldier 11 (or Eleven, as I like to call her). Movie reviews/analysis, reports on commissions, snippets of her domestic life with the others… it acts more like a diary than actual letters she’ll send out. But Anby truly wishes she can share all of the joy and freedom she’s found with Eleven someday. Both in all the stories and helping her experience it too,

I’m a firm believer Anby and Eleven are twins— Burnice definitely has a connection to them too given her own little pack thing… but she also has more blondish hair and looks/acts a little older than them??? So probably not exact triplets or maybe not even biological sisters. But some sort of Huey, Dewey, and Louie grouping would be hilarious

I feel like Nicole is. Very into astrology, horoscopes, tarot cards... online quizzes. We know from one of Anton's trust events that she dabbles in fortune telling for quick cash, but honestly I feel like the others gotta hold her back from doing that more often because it drives them nuts. She's tried to get them in on it but... they're not very good at it. Anby's descriptions are just movie tropes, Nekomata gets distracted by the cards and other trinkets used, and Billy can't keep all the symbolism straight for the life of him.

Nekomata clearly has some education, likely from the RFG/potentially her orphanage... but given she's a street kid, even now (more lowkey) with the CH, it might be a minute until she gets into high school. I don't know if she'd even be that interested in school... probably curious to try it but she'd get so bored so fast lmao. Regardless, Nicole and the others would probably want to help her enroll.

Nekomata when socializing and learning stuff in class: Ok yeah! I can get used to this! Nekomata when she has to do homework: WTF THIS SUCKS

But she more or less gets straight As like the smart lil kitty she is. She asks the others for help/overview fairly often, though.

Anby is usually the first person to be ready to leave, while Nicole is… the last. You can tell these two are sisters because they always bicker about it /lhj. (Note to myself to make an animatic of these two to this very fun song)

While the CH all share a tv and gotta chart out times for it, they also have group movie nights! Usually they’ll watch really bad movies they can all laugh at and make fun of together. This is where a good chunk of their inside jokes come from. 

Nicole loves to give Anby and Nekomata manicures! She would give them to Billy too, but whatever polish she tries will come off immediately. Anby and Nekomata tend to have theirs chip off fairly quickly too rip

Nekomata moved into Anby’s room when she joined the CH— they’re the youngest and Anby had the most space. While the two had a lot of tension in Ch 1, and some of that can still carry over sometimes, they’re actually pretty good roommates! 

Her whole scene with Billy in the prologue was her attempt at humor to cope with stress (plus finding Billy probably relieved her a lot)… but she struggles with knowing appropriate times. Given Anby has also joked about becoming a monster and tried to nom Billy’s hand (“Rawwwwr”), I don’t think this is too out there lol.

Sorry for how small it is but format-wise, I'll discuss the dorm leader, then canon characters in descending year order, then ocs in descending year order.

Also, decided to make the school co-ed because 🌸 girls pretty 🌸! And safer for Yuu. Additionally, as a general rule of thumb, if a character is the same gender as the og reference, I tend to make them transgender in some way.

- Firstly, transfem Riddle has my heart so there's that.

- I made her mixed, probably British and Chinese, though I'm open to suggestions cause these are pretty much first drafts.

- From the get-go I wanted her to have hella freckles, idk they're cute.

- Also toned down her og hair, too many damn gingers in this house lol. Gave her grey streaks from her stressful ass childhood.

- I made him black. No particular reason other than his og skin was waaay to pale in contrast to his hair, in my opinion.

- Autistic, dental hygiene is a strange special interest but whatever floats his boat.

- Also, he still wears glasses, I was just lazy lol.

- Stayed more or less the same. Gave some lighter blonde streaks for 🌟flavour🌟. You can decide whether those freckles are real or not.

- The first of the Depression Club(tm) characters because I love Cater angst. Wait til you find out my kin list omg.

- If we're talking my college AU, he'd be a cosmology or cosmetology major, whichever the makeup one is idk. He was taught by an older sister (who works at a tattoo shop/piercing parlour) how to do piercings and is the primary piercer on campus. He did Trey's probably Riddles, Adeuce's lip piercings and more characters that'll show up later.

- The one natural ginger left in Heartslabyul (I hunted them to near extinction lmao). Also, transmasc. I think his mom really wanted all girls and was not thrilled about him being trans. Anyways!~

- Adeuce also got lip piercings together, even though Deuce tried to warn Ace that lip piercing aren't the best first ones, Ace insisted. Cue Deuce having to help take care of Ace's piercing cause he's a dumbass. Can you tell I love them? And their one collective braincell.

- So this is my girlie twisted from the Blue Caterpillar. She's not a smoker or anything but I think she's be a total incense and perfume and whatnot girl.

- Spiritualistic and whenever you walk into her room, it smells amazing. If you want a tarot reading, she's your girl.

- Oki's very reserved and tends to keep to herself, often reading or quietly sipping some tea with Riddle as they work.

- She's Taiwanese and also autistic. Her whole wardrobe is blue, so are most of her things and she love nice smells.

- You'll never guess who she's based on /j. My Mad Hatter character! I didn't have a particular ethnicity in mind for her but she takes heavy inspiration from Harujuku fashion.

- She and Cater have to work together to dye her hair every time it needs touch ups. It's a huge pain in the ass but she likes how it looks and Cater is fine helping.

- Has acne and uses those cute lil star and heart cut-out patches to cover it.

- She LOVES bright colours and has way too much fun prepping for the tea parties. Owns a ton of weird and neat lil earrings that she likes to mix and match.

- Also has ADHD. I feel like that's obvious lol.

- Twisted from the White Rabbit, and a super creative name I know... I don't have a ton of explanation here other than I thought it would look neat.

- I was super close to giving her all white hair but I didn't want another character with dark skin and light hair (which will be relevant in later designs too) so I gave her a gradient. All natural, by the way.

- She's autistic too and gets extremely anxious whenever she's late or someone else is late (Adeuce constantly give her heart attacks because of this).

- She's also a part of the track and field club!

Dark: A (former) marine biologist who went on an underwater expedition to the midnight zone and mysteriously disappeared. She currently scares the shit out of people trying to scuba dive by turning the entire water dark and basically feeding them to the creatures that lurk in the dark. Her name is Francisca, and she is from Costa Rica.

Eye: A senator assistant who can dig up any dirty information on his opponents that can be used to blackmail; she is also heavily desolation coded. Her name is Allison, she is american, and is trans.

Vast: A thrill-seeker who loves roller coasters (and almost died from one) now makes people who are absolutely terrified of roller coasters have a much slower, longer ride, and essentially traps them in it. Her name is Fatima.

Spiral: A senator that twists the truth to ensure popularity among the voters. Feeds his patron by getting people lost in government buildings. His name is Lucas, and he is also american.

Izuku and Katsuki being brothers. Like not literal brothers by blood but they have that brotherly bond. I actually do ship dekubaku but this headcanon is still very dear to me and I think in another universe it could work.

Like it's so funny imagining them fighting the way brothers do or being mean to each other but also having each other's backs and protecting/defending the other. I love that for them

Sumud: Resistance Until Liberation Mural

The SUMUD: Resistance Until Liberation mural project is a collaboration between artists and activists in the U.S. and Palestine that explores and confronts the deep interconnections between the brutal systems of imprisonment in the U.S. and Palestine. ASATA members collaborated on the concept, design, and painting of a section of this mural titled Internationalism + The Fight Against Empire. See more about the SUMUD mural project here.

ASATA members volunteered at the SUMUD Mural Community Launch event on October 13th celebrating joy and resistance.

As organizations with a history of working with each other, we understand the interconnectedness of our movements for liberation internationally, especially across the Global South. We know that the liberation of one of our homelands contributes to the liberation of all of us. 

Our spoon was inspired by Handala, a 10-year-old Palestinian cartoon character created by the Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali. Handala’s age represents Naji al-Ali’s age in 1948 when he was forcibly displaced and became a refugee after the Nakba. Hence, Handala remains 10 years old, and he is depicted with bare feet, spiked hair, and tattered clothing, and always has his back turned to the viewer to represent the fight against empire. 

Our mural depicts Handala, hand in hand with a character robed in Lumud textiles of the indigenous communities in the Southern Philippines. This design is based off of a work by Cece Carpio, and for us in GABRIELA Oakland and BAYAN Norcal, resonates with our commitment as a movement to defend indigenous land against plunder and environmental degradation, from Palestine to the Philippines. On the far left, we also chose to include a peasant farmer. To this day, the Philippines remains a semi-feudal country, with peasants comprising the majority (75 percent) of the islands’ population. Our peasant figure represents the 500 year legacy of resistance among Filipinos, especially in the countryside, and the will of the landless class to take up the struggles for liberation and basic human rights.

On the other side of Handala, is a figure representing Haiti’s continuing resistance to colonialism, depicted by a boy similar in age to Handala, holding the flag of Haiti. The flag is a symbol of Haiti’s historic revolution and overthrow of slavery which gave birth to the first free Black nation in the Americas. Sculptural metal birds adorn both sides of the mural, and represent symbolic elements deeply rooted in Haitian spirituality and creative resistance. 

The figure wearing a sari has designs on the pleats of the sari inspired by different countries in South Asia, as well as a design that represent the South Asian descendants of indentured servitude. We also incorporated a design inspired by Kashmiri weavers to connect the occupation and resistance struggles of Kashmir and Palestine. The figure was intentionally designed to challenge the binary of masculinity vs. femininity that exists within most patriarchal cisheteronormative South Asian cultures, and to include the colors of the pride and trans flags to represent solidarity with queer and trans communities. The South Asian figure holds a farming tool to represent the farmers’ movement and uprising. 

Taking inspiration from Naji Al-Ali’s Handala, in which he wrote that the character stood as “the arrow of the compass, pointing steadily towards Palestine,” our figures stand before a landscape symbolizing a future of freedom and return. The image of a tree whose roots reach out to each figure, and whose branches touch the sky, is meant to symbolize the strength we draw from rootedness in ancestral lands, and in the interconnectedness of our struggles.

He’s absolutely the type to be intrigued by your reserved nature upon the first meeting and delighted when he gains enough of your trust that you feel comfortable being expressive around him. His curious nature and mind of an inventor work well with your thirst for knowledge. If you take time to look into subjects that fascinate him, he’ll be happy to talk with you for hours. Of course, he’ll look into the things that you like as well, like games or books you enjoy. To be fair, that would be the first obvious sign that he likes you. At times, especially at first, he would try very hard and worry about the way he was coming across. So he would try to think of ways to make a good impression on you and getting into your hobbies is definitely on the list. He’d also make you little gifts, mostly ducks. Kind of like a cat, dropping them off at your hands proudly but anxiously. Only, it’s less gross than a dead mouse haha. Also, any gift you decide to give him will be his biggest treasure. Eyeless Jack! Hear me out, I think this would be silly BUT also incredibly sweet. Like, goals. First of all, he’s a flesh-eating demon but usually, he’s portrayed as a tame (at least during casual encounters) guy with not much passion for socializing. Just imagine going about your day, chatting with friends, being your extroverted self around the people you are close with (since you said it can be different when it comes to acquaintances) and his bad-omen-looking demonic presence is just standing beside you. Absolutely iconic if we’re talking ship dynamics. Also, with him being the designated doctor, he’d appreciate your caring nature, with you being the parent of the group. That could be one of the ways that help you two to grow closer - he patches people up, helping them physically, while you keep their emotions in check. Soon he finds himself feeling lonely when you’re not hanging out with him while he does his whole healer-thing. He enjoys hearing your gossip stories and in a house full of murderers, there’s always something interesting going on. On occasion he even joins in, sharing the stories about your mutual friends. Confidentiality be damned, he will tell you about why Jane gave Jeff two black eyes (it was deserved). Speaking of which, if any of the guys (let’s be honest, this is still about Jeff) decide to be difficult patients and you swoop in to unleash your more aggressive side, he only falls harder. I think you two would get each other because you both have moments of insatiable anger and also sometimes want peace and think about deeper things. HOMESTUCK was a tough one, but I settled on…

Dave. I kinda debated that for a bit but I think it fits. There would be no instant love with sparks flying, but you would definitely grow to like each other. At first, it would be somewhat difficult because you’d seem a bit distant upon the first encounter, and let’s be honest, his whole cool-guy thing doesn’t always appear very inviting. But as time goes on, you’ll spend more time chatting one-on-one. Not to mention the events of the plot would help to bring you guys together, I mean, at least you're going through your bizarre experiences together. Rose would be the first one to notice (though the rest would follow soon after) that he seems to care about you more. Every time you’d try to be the mediator, attempting to bring everybody together and be the ‘dad friend’ he’d - in his own chill way - make sure that you’re not burning yourself out. He is the Knight, after all, being protective is a part of his thing. The same goes for your anger. I mean, he kind of likes that vibe, but if you just feel like you're about to burst from frustration, he’ll certainly try to redirect your thoughts. Not afraid to talk back if you end up snapping at him, but at the same time, his aura just seems really calming? And he wouldn’t insult you for real, I just mean that the guy can hold his own. Definitely would support your art and indulge if you want him to play some games with you. Generally, based on your interests I think you would meet through John, which also means that there would be a few times when you and John team up to do some practical jokes on him. Dave acts unamused, but up to a limit, he doesn't even mind. Especially not if it’s you

Umehito Nekozawa! I feel like he would greatly appreciate your curious mind and it would complement his own pursuit of (occult) knowledge. And as a way to show you his admiration he’d give you the strangest gifts that would be nonetheless endearing. The other thing that would make him fall for you would be how caring and helpful you tend to be. For a while, he struggled to connect to his sister and I feel like you could help him with that, which would be some nice setup for a fun romance arc. With a lot of mishaps because you know how he is, some things are bound to go wrong. But in the best way possible. And his determination plus your creativity would always overcome any obstacles in that classic writing style of OHSHC. I’d totally read that! Hello!! I absolutely love trice forgotten and I was so over the moon excited to hear the name noor for the first time cuz that’s my brothers name! I never get to hear it very often in fiction. Also I absolutely love the occasional Islamic phrases noor will use. Can I ask how you came up with which languages and ethnicities you wanted your characters to be?

hello friend! :D I'm excited that you're excited, and as you can tell I love the name Noor so i hope they live up to your excitement!

i chose the languages and ethnicities based on the diasporas i grew up around in London, especially when those weren't/aren't seen in British media - Tamil Sri Lankans, Yemeni people, Filipinos, non-mainland Chinese and West Africans - my friends and family are these ethnicities because of where the British have been - and though more and more reprentation has grown of trans white people and of queer east asians, the people i grew up near have had their cultures and histories forgotten and forgotten in the western canon.

I'm far and away from being any kind of expert on the cultures in the show, but they are at least slightly more familiar to me; i ate in British Tamil households, so know marginally more about them than other South Asian cultures.

I think Baker and Alestes are the outliers - both of their backgrounds were built from historical figures I'd read about while doing preliminary research - one study on Chinese South Africans, and one on the history of Black Nova Scotians - both related to the British trade routes between the Americas to South Asia, swinging around Cape Town.

As for languages, they all speak English because all of their countries of birth have been colonised by the British - but I wanted them to have the mixed-race/diaspora/migrant struggle of having too many better (/worse) words tumbling out of their mouth. There's no English term that encapsulates insha'Allah for Noor. Alestes swears in Hokkien because Baker didn't speak any and couldn't tell her off, but she doesn't know Hokkien, or isiXhosa, she's always lived on the outer edges of people who do.

Brian Michael Smith African American actor. Smith studied acting and video production at Kent State University and began teaching drama classes before moving to New York to train at at William Esper Studio. He obtained a number of small roles in shows such as Blue Bloods, Girls, Person of Interest and Law & Order: SUV before making his break in the role as Toine in Queen Sugar. Since then, Smith has become a series regular in 9-1-1: Lone Star, claiming the title of the first black transgender man to star as a series regular in a network TV show.

Blas Radi Argentinian professor of philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires. Radi is a researcher, activist, professor of the Chair of Gnoseology and Feminist Philosophy, and attached to the Chair of Fundamentals of Philosophy. He is an activist speaking and writing on cissexism, trans rights and trans issues and was part of the National Front for the Gender Identity Law 2012.

Ash Palmisciano British actor. Palmisciano worked as an actor at Warwickshire Castle and at the Royal Shakespeare Company where he was the first transgender actor to appear on stage. He landed a few small roles over the years, including BBC’s Boy Meets Girl before landing the role as a series regular in ITV soap Emmerdale as both the first transgender character and actor to appear in the show. 

Eddie Ayres English musician, teacher and radio presenter. Ayres graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and went on to study in Berlin, England and Australia. His career has taken him around the world, from teaching in Australia and Afghanistan to spending eight years as a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra along with presenting the breakfast show on Radio Television Hong Kong. Ayres is now an Australian citizen and presents the Classic Breakfast show on ABC Classic. 

Jake Zyrus Filipino singer and television personality. After finding some fame after placing third in a Filipino talent show, Zyrus later reached worldwide recognition after videos of his performances began to gain popularity on YouTube. He began receiving invitations to perform on a number of popular British and American talk shows which ultimately lead to his role in Glee as Sunshine Corazon along with a career in music that has seen him release six studio albums. 

Patricio Manuel American boxer. Manuel is the first transgender boxer in US history to fight professionally. He was a five-time USA female national amateur boxing champion before his transition in 2013. Upon returning to boxing in 2018 to fight as a man he won his first fight against Hugo Aguilar by unanimous decision and later became the face of Everlast boxing equipment.

Amos Mac American writer, photographer, writer and publisher. Mac co-founded Original Plumbing in 2009; the first magazine for and by transgender men. His photography centres around trans lives and has been exhibited internationally and featured in The New York Times, Vogue Italia, BUTT Magazine, and OUT. Mac is also a writer for the forthcoming series of Gossip Girl and is currently working on a young adult novel. 

Freddy McConnell English journalist. McConnell studied Arabic at the University of Edinburgh and went on to work for NGO Skateistan providing education and empowerment to children in the form of skateboarding. He began writing for The Guardian in 2013 and has since written for the likes of Vice, Pink News and The Washington Post, along with providing trans inclusive guidelines for the NHS. His journey to becoming a dad was featured in the 2019 documentary Seahorse and his battle to be legally named as his son’s father has been widely publicised. 

Ian Harvie American stand-up comedian. Harvie began his comedy career in 2002 performing in both Maine and Massachusetts before moving to California in 2006 where he began touring with Margaret Cho as her opening act for the following three years. He has also had small TV roles in shows such as Transparent, Will & Grace, Mistresses and Young & Hungry. He continues to perform stand up comedy, often to raise money for causes such as recovery centres and houses, abortions rights, and numerous LGBTQIA causes.

Nic Brennan English firefighter and personal trainer. Brennan began transitioning on the job as a firefighter but fearing the reaction of his employer and colleagues he was unable to tell anyone. Upon coming out, he realised the reaction was much more positive and supportive than he expected and Brennan is happy to be “finally living my life as who I am meant to be, not just existing.” His experiences and the lack of role models have driven him to come out publicly and speak of his experiences to help fill that void himself.
