Okay.... Let's analyze what happened in dcmk these last few weeks. Obvious SPOLIERS will be commented so you know.

Where was she all this time? Why did she never appear or even show a sign of life? She didn't even call her daughter on her birthday... She appears so oblivious to everything, she didn't even know who Kaitou Kid was since her husband has always been obsessed with trying to catch this thief for YEARS. It seems like Gosho just randomly placed her in the story without trying to connect with the canon, it's almost as if she was a character outside of her original manga.

After all these years, Gosho decided to go against everything he had already said and made the Kaishin to be cousins, not only ruining a unique relationship (whether you shipped or not) but also bringing plot holes and contradictions in the story. If they are cousins ​​what's the excuse for them never trying to even interact before? Why was it that when Yukiko first met Kaito, she never acted like she was related to her? The same with Toichi, she always talked about him as just her teacher and NOTHING more than that, it doesn't make sense to put that in the story now. • he steps into his father's shoes as KID and decides to try to find out for himself what happened to his father, who killed him and why.

• now there is a criminal organization that thinks he is the KID who didn't really die and they are trying to kill him once and for all.

• he decides to put himself at risk looking for Pandora, being something belonging to the organization and the police themselves.

• a lot of people hate him, regardless of whether he hurts people or not.

• more and more he becomes more and more removed from everything and becomes burdened with the KID charade.

• his own mother doesn't care about him, on the contrary, it seems like she likes to make things even more difficult for her son (she disguised herself as her dead ex-husband just to screw with her son's head, that's sickening to say the least).

• everything Kaito does is because of his father's murder, he never wanted to be KID, he never liked stealing, he doesn't do any of that for pleasure (except when it involves a certain mini detective but that's not the focus now ).

I was about to put a whole essay in the tags but then it was getting far too long so I'm gonna put it here instead. when pondering genderswaps, I like to use it as an opportunity to examine a character's relationship to gender and gender roles and how they perform gender, and also a chance to see what might be part of their personality divorced from gender performance. so now im going to use this as an excuse to discuss how I think the mxtx couples would be performing gender in a genderswap scenario (presuming a cisswap, since if I get started talking about my trans headcanons I'll be here all day)

with bingqiu, the main narrative of svsss deals significantly with gender roles, which I have talked about At Length. I won't get into all that here but essentially it boils down to both of them adopting more feminine roles (bingmei's maidenlike behavior, shen qingqiu's whole milf thing). so in a genderswap, that would be reversed -- while canon bingmei is more feminine, genderswap bingdi should get to be more masculine, especially in a like. performing gentlemanly things, like opening the doors for sqq and giving sqq her coat or whatever lol as for shen qingqiu, the power of middle aged milf shizun is blinding me and it's very difficult to look away from. however, if presuming the same logic here, where canon sqq starts acting like binghe's mother, genderswap sqq would presumably decide binghe needs a father figure and it's up to her to provide, which is. also very compelling to think about. generally shen qingqiu's relationship to gender is so fucking confusing and complicated because sqq's brain is a full of tangled knots, so idk if she would fit neatly into femme or butch, but whatever she's doing, it's doing Some Shit to binghe's brain for sure

as for wangxian, canon lan wangji definitely seems to enjoy fulfilling the husband role for wei wuxian, but tbh it doesn't really seem like a gender thing to me? granted, I am not a lwj scholar so someone else might have a more complex take than me, but lan wangji just seems to enjoy providing for wwx, and gender doesn't really come into that as the motivation. so I think a genderswapped lan wangji would still enjoy playing the husband role and providing for wwx, and I could definitely see that turning into a butch thing for her. which I'm still fanning myself thinking about btw. wei wuxian on the other hand definitely seems more aware of how gender roles play into their relationship, but in a way where he seems to really enjoy playing with them and embracing both roles depending on the context, so I think genderswapped wwx would still be kinda genderfucked. wwx's gender to me is "whatever wei wuxian would get the most entertainment out of in that moment"

finally, hualian are sexually dimorphic birds to me. regardless of gender. honestly, swapping their genders I think would have the least effect out of all three couples, which is amusing considering they're the ones who could actually genderswap themselves any time they want in canon. I think genderswapped xie lian is butch simply out of practicality. performing femininity takes a lot of effort and xie lian simply Does Not Care. in my heart, a modern genderswapped xie lian probably performed femininity pretty hard in her youth (whatever the modern equivalent of the crown prince years would be) but she's gone through so much shit that she's just like "wow this does not matter to me that much. I'm just gonna focus on what's practical instead of looking pretty" and now she's like. really into cargo shorts because of all the pockets. that sort of thing. meanwhile hua cheng LOVES putting effort into her appearance. she LOVES the drama. this is true of canon hua cheng. his fashion is the equivalent of shaking keys in front of xie lian to get his attention, an effect that's enhanced by the fact that he literally jangles when he walks. so genderswapped hua cheng is doing some crazy high femme camp shit simply because she Loves Drama and Likes To Look Good. the most exaggerated makeup. ten million sparkling accessories. extremely low cut tops to show off her (flat) cleavage. hualian never look like they're going to the same event because hua cheng dresses with the energy of "I need to be so hot it makes everyone in this farmers market want to kill themselves" meanwhile xie lian has been wearing the same overalls all week

I LOVE them, you LOVE them, but we both know, they aren't perfect, still healthy but some codependency issues from both and other stuff. But, I want to talk about Charlie; I LOVE Charlie (but Vaggie's my fav), but she doesn't listen to Vaggie and while I do understand her anger at Vaggie during their brief fallout and I am NOT demonizing her, I also can't help but feel angry with her

Let's see...

I'm not sure if I would agree with Charlie's reaction and behavior towards Vaggie after The Deal being "unfair". I actually think her behavior there was a testament to Charlie's persevering love for Vaggie if you compare her behavior in the rest of the episode and how she usually acts when she's mad at everyone else.

Something I noticed with Charlie is that her anger is "explosive". She puts on a strained smile and fake laughs when she's annoyed. But if a line is crossed and her patience snaps, the dial goes up to a hundred, where she growls and shouts and goes up in flames when she's mad.

Now, IMO I think it would have been perfectly fair if she did the same with Vaggie. They're dealing directly with angels here, a group that Vaggie was a part of. Not only would revealing the truth be a testament to Vaggie's trust and respect for her partner, but information like that could have been useful to Charlie regardless of if they weren't romantically involved. Imagine how much different that meeting in the first episode would have been if Charlie were aware that Vaggie was an angel and Vaggie could have briefed her on how to deal with Adam. Or if Charlie could have gotten some brownie points from Heaven's council by having an angel on their side. How i see it, is that Charlie isn't just upset that her partner didn't tell her that she participated in genocide (already a big deal by itself), but she's also upset that knowing earlier could have helped the people she's been trying to save. That's why she said "Would you have told me?". Vaggie could have said something when she was about to meet Adam but she didn't. She could have said something before they went to Heaven so she could better prepare. So what would have taken Vaggie to tell the truth? If it wasn't their romantic involvement, or the benefit of knowing just to give her people just a little more time?

It doesn't excuse it, but it explains it. Even if it were a petty move, I'm honestly all for it. I'd like to see petty Charlie, honestly. Just a little proof that she is in fact the princess of Pride. She probably takes pride in being kind and trustworthy. That's probably another reason why it stung for her to not be confided in. As if she doesn't seem trustworthy enough.

Charlie didn't behave the way she usually does when she's mad tho. No shouting, no cussing. You know who she did it to though? Some old lady(big surprise from Charlie) and friggin Alastor(even bigger surprise!). She's upset at Vaggie, but even then she doesn't go screaming at her. Instead she subdues herself in front of Vaggie and expresses her anger at other people. That interaction shows that Vaggie is still special to her, even if she's an insult away from snapping. She couldn't bring herself to raise her voice at her even after being betrayed, and that says a lot.

I don't think anything in season 1 explicitly indicates Charlie becoming insecure if Vaggie gains personal connections outside of the hotel, but I sure hope it does happen because it would make PERFECT sense considering Charlie's background.

She's a privileged princess spoiled of everything BUT attention. She's a child of divorce as well, something that typically gives people abandonment and commitment issues. Here comes Vaggie, ready to be at her beck and call for anything and everything. Charlie doesn't have to starve for attention anymore, and she doesn't have to worry about being abandoned, because Vaggie is just as alone in hell as she is. But what if Vaggie is no longer alone? What if Vaggie finds a purpose outside of the hotel? It would be great, but suddenly Charlie has to share when she never used to have to. Eventually, she might be completely abandoned, just like her parents that left each other.

It would be such a good opportunity to explore Charlie's insecurities and give Vaggie more friends all in one go. Plus it makes for good relationship angst that we can root for them to overcome together. I hope it happens.

Maybe I'm just really stupid, but despite being in this fandom for a year now I for some reason was convinced that Killcheroy killing herself was like, canon, because of how widely accepted that theory is in the fandom and spoken of as if it's fact. But after looking through all of Fuuta's stuff again (voice dramas, music videos, the like,) I've come to realize that not only is Killcheroy's actual cause of death never actually confirmed, but I've also realized something else: Y'all I really do not think this girl killed herself lmao. In fact, I am very confident that she didn't kill herself, mainly due to the fact that, as we know, Milgram has a very specific motif when it comes to characters who have committed suicide or have themes of suicide in their character

Mahiru and Kazui's victims both have a shoe off, because both of them died via suicide

Muu is often presented with only one shoe, because she is implied to be suicidal

Fuuta's victim also has a shoe off, because as we know she died of-- ...Huh? Oh shit. Both shoes are intact. Now I've seen people, though often briefly, point that out before What I don't see pointed out however is that Backdraft has three perfect opportunities to follow up on the shoes motif, and just doesn't.

These are the first two I wanna talk about. Killcheroy's shoes are perfectly in view, yet both of them are still in tact. Since this whole scene is basically a creative reenactment of Killcheroy's death, wouldn't it make sense for one shoe to be off if suicide was what took her out? But at the same time, these scenes are still depicting her when she is 'alive,' so maybe it wouldn't make that much sense for a shoe to be off in this particular scene. But what about after she burns up? That's where the third scene comes in

Even after she dies, her shoes are not there. Milgram is a series that loves including small, blink-and-you'll-miss-it details. If Killcheroy really killed herself, there's no way her shoes wouldn't be visible in these shots as Fuuta's running away, right? And this shoe motif, coupled with the fact that when looking at what we have, there's no actual evidence that Killcheroy killed herself (to my knowledge) makes me doubt this theory a lot more than I had when I originally assumed it was canon. So what do I think took Killcheroy out? Well, though we have no evidence that she killed herself, we do have evidence that Fuuta doxxed her.

to this one, where Fuuta is reacting to the news of Killcheroy's death, leads me to believe that this doxxing was the final bridge that caused Killcheroy's death. Now, a lot of life-threatening events can result from doxxing, for a while I was even pondering the possibility that Killcheroy was swatted and killed that way. But I think someone in Fuuta's group killed her, because the text in the MV makes it a note to specify that Killcheroy "lives close" to Fuuta and presumably the rest of his friend group since they all go to the same university and live in the same area. I can see people arguing that that would remove a bit of Fuuta's agency and responsibility from his murder, but I don't think I would agree with that. Regardless of what truly happened to Killcheroy after the doxxing, whether she was killed by someone in the group, or swatted (which I think is less likely, but is still a possibility), this presumed culprit was only able to do the things they did because Fuuta gave them the tools to. He gave them a target, Killcheroy, who he demonized and dehumanized into the role of Petulant Witch, and enough details of her location for anyone in the area to find her and enact punishment in the most direct way they can. Fuuta's story, to me anyway, isn't just about the consequences of cyberbullying and cancel culture, but also the cult-mentality of it and how others are influenced into it.

Part 1/3 - Between Love & Leaving

Luigi admired you, he always did. He would always look at you, his eyes full of love. You’d catch him, an infectious grin on his face purely from him observing you. Whether you had just woken up with your messy hair and puffy face, or all dolled up, his plus one at every engineering event.. He always smiled at you the same way, his dimples making an appearance. When you caught him, you’d playfully shove him, “Stop looking at me like that, goof.” You’d tease. His cheeks would flush a light pink, “Like what?” he’d reply, knowing exactly what he was doing.

In the weeks leading up to his disappearance, don’t get me wrong, Lu would still admire you. But, paired with that sweet smile were his eyes that would gloss over. You would catch him in the act, but instead of reacting playfully he would immediately look away or start blinking rapidly to rid his tears. “What’s wrong, my love?” you would ask, he would shrug it off. In hindsight, you should’ve known. But since Luigi is so smart, you believed his excuses. 

Luigi was the sweetest man you had ever met, you would believe anything he said. He could’ve told you that the sky was purple, and you would have nodded and bat your eyelashes at him in adoration.

It was always something.. “Dust got in my eye,”, “I just yawned”, “The sun is so bright,”, “Computer screen must be straining my eyes”, “It’s just my allergies, amore mio.”, “Wow. It’s really windy today, huh?”. He’d follow one of these lines by casually rubbing his eyes, then taking your hand and giving you a reassuring squeeze or forehead kiss.

You had no reason not to believe him. You were approaching your four year anniversary of being together, why would Lu suddenly start tearing up when he looked at you? Nothing had changed between you in the last few years, or so you had thought. 

Another reason you didn’t pry on him being more emotional than usual, you thought he had plans in mind. 

Your best friend from middle school was in town, so you invited her over on a whim to share great news with her. “Have fun, guys.” Luigi said, watching as you and your giddy best friend Sheila headed to your bedroom. “I’ll just be in the living room. I’ll text you if I head out,”  he said. “Okay, baby!” you reply, giggling as you and Sheila walk into the bedroom. You closed the door behind you. “What did you wanna tell me!?!--” Sheila excitedly asked, barely inside the room. “Shhhh!!” you cut her off. “Oh, oh,” she quiets to a whisper. “Is it about Luigi?”. 

You nod, unable to contain the excitement. “I think he’s gonna propose.” 

Immediately, Sheila lets out some hybrid of a scream and a squeal; Regardless what it is, it was loud. Your hand flies to cover her mouth. 

You shoot her a death glare before slowly removing your hand. “Sorry, sorry.. That’s so exciting, y/n. How do you know?”. 

“Well, I don’t know, but last time we were at the mall, he walked by the ring store really slowly. He never window-shops, ever. Actually, he doesn’t shop at all. He just comes to buy me things. Also, he keeps having these mysterious vague ‘plans’. I even caught him staring at the calendar for a long time. Like.. What is he planning?” you say. Sheila grabs your hands and starts jumping up and down. “I can’t wait to be your bridesmaid!” she says. You laugh, “okay, okay. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.” you say, still smiling at the possibility. 

“Do you know what kind of ring you want?” Sheila asks.

“No, but I’m sure I’ll love whatever Lu chooses.”

When you had closed the bedroom door and Sheila screamed shortly after, Luigi ran over to the door. He thought that someone was in pain. Before he could grab the handle and rush in, he heard you shush Sheila. He stood at the door, listening to the conversation. As soon as the word ‘proposing’ left your mouth, his heart sank. There he was, carefully planning to disappear from everyone, and you were imagining he’s going to propose. You didn’t know that Luigi heard this conversation. 

Eventually you moved on from the engagement conversation and sat on the bed, where it was difficult for Luigi to hear from behind the door. 

Admittedly, in the final week before Luigi departed, there were signs that were concerning. 

He was overly apologetic, generally more distracted, always shrugging when you mentioned future plans. “I’ll get back to you on that, baby.” He would say, a hollow look in his eyes. 

Regardless, you could have never predicted from these actions that he was planning to go AWOL. Everyone has their off days, and Luigi was always a stable person in your life. One of the only consistent people. Your safe haven, the love of your life. Yes, you lived together, but Luigi himself was truly your home. No matter where you were. His heart, his soul, the way he looked at you. Even with the unusual behaviour, you never would have guessed that he was planning to cut everyone off.

Plus, you're an overthinker. You overachieve at overthinking. Luigi knew this. Another reason why you dismissed your suspicions. He constantly reassured you and provided you with the healing words and gestures that your flawed mind needed. 

3 days before he left, you were eating dinner together. There had been a painfully long amount of space between conversation, long enough to notice the sounds of chewing and forks scratching your plates. Luigi was breathing heavier than usual, trying to force himself to say the words. If he didn’t say it soon, he knew you would notice the awkward silence and ask what's wrong. If you looked at him with your glimmering eyes, filled with worry, he would blurt the truth. Withholding information from you had been eating him alive as it was. Your nails clinked on your wine glass as you picked it up, lifting it to sip your wine. The subtle gulp when you swallowed, Luigi knew it was speak now, or never.

“Lu—”

“I’ve been feeling restless again. I think I’m gonna head out for another backpacking trip soon. Clear my head.”

"Another trip?" You set your glass down slowly, your fingers tracing the rim as you studied him. Your tone was light, almost teasing, but there was a quiet concern knitting your brows together. “You’ve been quieter than usual, but I didn’t think you were planning another escape.” You gave him a playful smile, trying to lift the mood. No response from him, you struggled to read his emotions. “What? Is my cooking that bad? You have to go backpacking again?” you joke. 

Luigi tried to smile back, but it barely flickered before fading. Your words felt like a soft punch to his stomach; not because they hurt, but because they made him crumble. He knew you were trying to make him laugh to put him at ease, like you always did, but the pit in his stomach only grew. He forced himself to take another bite of food, chewing slowly to give himself a moment to keep the nausea at bay.

As the silence stretched, you glanced at him again, beginning to nervously gnaw on your bottom lip. You wanted him to say something, anything. 

The last thing Luigi wanted was to make you worry. He swallowed hard, the food catching as the lump in his throat kept rising.

“You know I support you.. no matter what,” you said softly, your voice laced with concern. You always wanted him to do what made him happy, but this confused you.  “.. Are you sure this is what you need?” you asked. You didn’t want to be a nagger, you hated that feeling of being annoying. But the sirens in your head were blaring.

Luigi nodded quickly, too quickly. “Yeah, I’m sure,” he said, his voice rushed. He grabbed his glass and took a long sip, hoping the cool liquid would settle his stomach. “Everything’s good,” he added; His tone light, but delivery similar to a robot.

His leg bounced under the table, he couldn’t stop. He could feel your eyes on him, the gentle worry in your gaze.. It made his chest ache. As if a boulder was resting on top of it. “You don’t have to worry about me, my love,” he said, more firmly this time, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. He wanted to reassure you more than anything in the world, but genuinely couldn’t.

Before you could press further, he abruptly pushed back his chair, “I’ll, uh, I.. I think I ate too fast. Give me a moment,” he said, his voice hurried as he stood.

You didn’t get a chance to respond before he walked quickly down the hall, his jaw tight as he focused on keeping it shut.

The door clicked shut behind him, and he locked it with trembling fingers before leaning heavily against the sink. All his weight pressed into his hands, relying on them to keep him standing. 

His reflection in the mirror stared back at him, pale, like a stranger who had seen a ghost. He gripped the edge of the counter, his knuckles white as the nausea twisted violently in his stomach.

Lying to you felt like poison, churning inside him. It rolled around, slowly and heavily, as if threatening to drown him. His chest heaved as he fought the wave of sickness, closing his eyes tightly, but the guilt clawed at him, relentless. He felt like he was coming apart at the seams, each thread of his sanity unraveling faster than he could handle. Never in his life did Luigi imagine he would have to lie to you, of all people. 

The sound of the faucet endlessly running filled the room as he turned it on full blast, a lazy attempt to have as much as he could to cover the sound of what was about to happen. How could he do this to you? How could he look into your eyes, so full of trust, and lie to you over and over again?

 The weight in his stomach weaved, making its way up his body in a matter of seconds. Weak in the knees, Luigi stumbled to the toilet, barely making it in time.

He let his legs collapse on the cold tiles, his hands gripped the rim of the toilet bowl as his body betrayed him. His stomach heaved violently, and though he tried to keep it silent, the force of it left him shaking. He gave into the weakness, resting his heavy head on the seat before his body forced him back up again, projecting into the toilet. 

He couldn’t keep doing this. Every lie felt like a knife, slowly sliding though his skin from the inside, out. The guilt was unbearable, suffocating, making him feel like he was losing his mind. The love he had for you burned in his chest, so overwhelming that it hurt, and the thought of you finding out what he was going to do.. the realization, the betrayal in your eyes.. even just the idea of it        made him want to scream.

He flushed the toilet quickly and grabbed a hand towel to dab at his clammy face. For a moment, he clutched it tightly, his hands trembling as he pressed it to his hot forehead. 

He forced himself to stand, gripping the sink for balance as he splashed cold water on his face. His reflection blurred in the water dripping from his skin, and he stared at it. He didn’t recognize himself anymore. Not the man you trusted, not the man you needed, the man you deserved.

By the time he turned off the faucet and unlocked the door, his mask was back in place, but barely. Each step closer to the table, it took everything in him to keep it together, to keep you from seeing the cracks. What could Luigi do? He had to leave, no matter what. Selfishly, he couldn't have you find out while he was still living with you.

When he sat back down, you looked up at him, your face calm but carefully watching. He gave you a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of his neck. “Sorry about that, darling. I think I definitely ate too fast.” He gestured toward his empty plate. “Despite popular belief, your cooking is way too good to pace myself.” he says, taking yoru hand and giving it a gentle peck as an apology. You laugh, taking it lightly as he intended, but Luigi is savouring every meal of yours as if it was one of his last meals on earth. 

Luigi kept the conversation light, deflecting your questions carefully, though every glance you gave him felt like it could unravel him completely.

The night before he fulfilled his plan was one of the most beautiful nights you had ever shared.

excuse the ranting here but just had someone try and argue that a fully evil literally on the hunt for the Slayer (bc he’s stalking his PREY to fight and hopefully kill) Spike - finding Buffy attractive (according to an interview James gave where he talks about that moment and said he embodied the kinds of predatory men who literally are “on the hunt” for real life women in bars) as anywhere NEAR the same level of creepiness as a SOULFUL aka SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD angel stalking and falling in love at the sight of an innocent and crying 15 year old Buffy….

Anti spike/spuffy ppl always try and use that interview to make Spike out to be “just as creepy” as Angel which is always just so embarrassing to me that they don’t grasp the basic difference between one was the most evil and literally is a predator to her prey but buffy is also a predator to spike’s kind so there is even still a balance of power between them even then and he’s literally just explaining how he played the scene to get the attitude and body language right as a predator bc he understands that’s what Spike is to Buffy at that time (literally had zero clue he would ever be a love interest of Buffy’s). And the other who is not supposed to be a predator anymore…. hides his identity as a vampire AND hides the fact that he’s been watching her for over a year is still acting as a predator but instead of stalking an experienced slayer to attempt to fight and kill he is stalking a freshly called still weak and vulnerable slayer who he wants to sleep with aka corrupt.

Angel is supposed to be GOOD yet is still acting like a predator. Spike IS EVIL and so is simply acting as someone who has killed two slayers should 💀💀💀💀 the fact that soulless evil Spike and soulful “good” Angel’s behavior can be compared AT ALL is bad for angel and angel alone bc spike is supposed to be evil and treating buffy as someone he is hunting and as an opponent. Angel is supposed to be HELPING Buffy….

But regardless of all that the argument is James said Sarah is beautiful so of course he played up that angle as well so canonically Spike thinks a 16 year old Buffy is pretty and these people really don’t understand the difference between the two 😭😭

First of all I personally have heard Sarah call herself “not the prettiest” at least 10 times in 10 different interviews - how often do you think the people in her life heard her make jokes or comments about her appearance??? To me that always seemed like James just paying a compliment to his costar who doesn’t understand how literally fucking STUNNING she is by basically being like HAVE YOU SEEN HER OF COURSE MY CHARACTER THINKS SHE’S PRETTY LOOK AT HER!! James literally rizzed his way into a main character and love interest like of course he’s gonna be charming in real life by paying compliments to everyone he can every chance he gets. He had sex appeal and a dream AND IT WORKED 💀 and we also see him have chemistry with practically every person on the show that’s just who he is 😹😹😹

But I also just cannot emphasize how much of a difference there is between finding someone attractive or thinking they’re beautiful vs actually ACTING on it and ESPECIALLY acting on it when you call her friend of the same age “just a kid” and say over and over again how wrong it is and that she’s too young AND THEN DO IT ANYWAY. Like it’s a supernatural show with vampires who are 100 & 200+ years old if angel hadn’t constantly acted like her dad and treated Buffy like a kid and everything is season 3 didn’t happen there could be sooooooo much more leniency with angel and buffy’s age differences and I probably wouldn’t care bc applying irl rules to the supernatural doesn’t make a lot of sense but angel always treats her like a child and says over and over again how wrong it is and THAT is what makes it a problem within this supernatural show bc Spike never treats her like a child or like she isn’t his equal ever no matter what age she is

But unfortunately it makes sense people who like a character whose main personality trait is !catholic guilt! (when he’s got a soul) don’t understand the difference between thoughts and actions and how we should only be defining ourselves and other people by their actions. Because we are not every single thought we’ve ever had both good and bad. If you think to do good things but don’t that does not make you good and if you think to do bad things but don’t that does not make you bad.

So evil Spike thinking a beautiful Buffy dancing with her friends is hot at 16 is not even CLOSE to the same as a supposed to be good angel activity pursuing a relationship with her by breadcrumbing the absolute fuck out of her, manipulating her like crazy and lying to her about practically everything and flirting with her under false pretenses after falling in love at the sight of her looking like a child with her lollipop on the school steps at 15 and then watching her cry in the bathroom mirror as he watches her from the bushes with a smile on his face and hope in his eyes and if you don’t understand that there is literally nothing I can do or say to help you

I normally don't post anything about controversial subjects, but this time as one of the member in Love and Deepspace community, I wanted to speak up about this horrible issues going on currently.

I've been in the LnD community for a while, from February 2024 till now, it is sad that CN server is spreading hate about Sylus just because they think Sylus 'plagarized' Zayne. While in reality, I know damn well they most of them came back to the game BECAUSE OF SYLUS

Be fucking for real, no ML has been plagarizing any ML. I'm Malaysian Chinese, even me myself felt so embarassed for yall CHINESE PLAYERS to spread hate about one of our beloved. Imagine how devastated Sylus will be if he's real and when he knows this.

Fuck yall mean Sylus doesn't deserve to be famous because he was released late?? This is something that an uneducated people sounds like. I don't see yall hating on Caleb? Cuz tell me why yall want your ADOPTIVE BROTHER to be one of your love interest, its fucking weird. Not to be racist, but yall Chinese glorify that indirect sibling relationship as romance so much.

I will stand for Sylus bcuz he loves us just as much CN Sylus fans loves him. Imagine it's your fave ML, Zayne, Rafayel, Xavier getting hatred, would you guys want that? Sylus is the fucking reason LnD blows up. Yes, before he was released, we thought he is the villain in the storyline, but as we play through the game, we do realized he's actually a sweetheart, he is our beloved. But no, yall clearly wanna headcanon him as a red flag, he's a bad guy, he doesn't love MC. Excuse me, are we playing the same game?

It is clear, as we play the game, our first impression on different LIs is different, Sylus looks like he's a bad guy, a villain that likes forced love but actually someone who will do anything to us, no forcing us.

Zayne looks cold outside, but deep down he cared for MC so much, he's willing to love us in every single universe no matter Astra cursed him to not love us. He's warm inside.

Rafayel carefree and often bratty and petulant personality on the surface, but when he's with MC, his beloved, he can be childlish, whiny and all pouty.

Xavier looks like an honest boy, a golden retriever,acts clueless but he's the most possesive LI ever.

From all of this, didn't we already know, or obviously know that all LI have something beyond the surface? Don't villainize any of them for fuck sake. Pls use the brain.

No one is forcing anyone consume other's content, if you love Zayne, then look at Zayne's content, but if you love Sylus too, you as a Zayne main can go look at Sylus's content too, IT IS THAT SIMPLE.

Sylus didn't ruin us, as a Zayne main before, I can assure you, he didnt ruin me. It's just that I prefer Sylus because he is my type, I love his reassurance on Mc's insecurities, I wish I have someone like Sylus beside me, I still love Zayne regardless. It's called OTOME GAME for a REASON.

Please don't give up on defending our beloved as Sylus's fans. We love him and seems like we are the only one that knows him deeply.

If you're a player in LnD, we should stand together, no matter which character we love.

so i just finished watching arcane (yes, FINALLY) and while i have a lot of thoughts about it, i want to talk about the elephant in the room which is, of course, caitvi.

i still don’t think that caitvi is abusive. i do agree that it was messed up for caitlyn to hit vi, regardless of her reasons for it, and she should have at least apologized to vi afterwards. but what she didn’t do with words, she makes up for by siding with vi and helping her rescue vander.

unlike catra, who apologized but never put in the work to actually right her wrongs, caitlyn does the opposite. it’s not just one big sacrifice or a few nice words either, caitlyn betrays ambessa and gives jinx the benefit of doubt for vi’s sake - two things that could have put her in grave danger. and she continues to support and stick by vi after that.

the whole deal about caitlyn being a cop is another can of worms and i don’t want to talk about it too deeply, but i can understand why people are upset about it. it would have been better if caitlyn had quit her position for vi, considering how enforcers were a main cause of vi’s trauma.

anyway, i don’t have a problem with people thinking that caitvi is toxic or even abusive. i don’t agree but they are entitled to their own opinion.

what i do have a problem with is when people say that c//a is healthier than caitvi?? excuse me??? so catra physically and emotionally abusing, gaslighting, guilt tripping and trying to kill adora her whole life isn’t abusive, but caitlyn hitting vi once is? make it make sense.

if you’re going to hold caitlyn accountable for one wrong move, you should be holding catra accountable for all her innumerable crimes.

and don’t talk to me about power dynamics. sure, caitlyn is in a higher social position than vi, but there are very few instances of caitlyn using her status to overpower or hurt vi, especially after they started getting closer.

whereas catra has always had power over adora. not in regards to social class, but in general. the horde was to etheria what piltover was to zaun, in a sense. people act like the horde and the undercity are the same just because of the aesthetics, but they forget that the horde were the oppressors.

say what you will about caitvi but the moment you bring c//a into the conversation and act like caitlyn is somehow worse than catra, you lose me.

as much as I like the dsmp story and its message about how there’s a deep down, I can’t help but think about the Bojack horsemen quote about how there’s no deep down and you are the actions you do regardless of someone’s intent or backstory

I believe you are referring to this quote “That’s the thing. I don’t think I believe in deep down. I kind of think all you are is just the things that you do.” (Which btw yall its real annoying when I have to find whatever the hell you are talking about, no shade just as an aside…<3)

The thing is, both things can be true. Life is about choices, and your every action and inaction has a consequence, (which I think I’ve talked about before but I don’t feel like finding it at the moment). In other words, everything you do impacts the world around you and has lasting effects. You may not know it and are likely very unaware of the consequences (positive and negative). This is because like my post said we are all inherently selfish because we live and see the world from only one view - our own. So yes, you are the actions/“things you do” and choices you make, regardless of the intentions.

At the end of the day, whether you meant to or not, whether you had good intentions or not, if you hurt someone the facts remain the same - you hurt someone. They have a fundemental right to feel hurt and that is always valid, emotions and feelings are always valid, whether it’s logical or makes sense or not. The reason deep down doesn’t change the outcome or the hurt you caused. However, that is about the past action. If you want to learn and grow and form meaningful relationships, avoid conflict… etc. That’s where the deep down comes in. Then it’s important to look at the reasons, not as excuses or justifications but as explanations - a bridge to understanding and shattering our stereotypes, assumptions and judgement.

(Okay, my foot still hurts from you stepping on it, but yeah if it was just an accident then the relationship doesn’t have to just all end over something stupid like it would if I assumed it was intentional.) Yes the impact you make on the world is the sum of what you do and that impact is true regardless if there is a deeper reason behind it. But also, if you only focus on what people do and go no deeper, then you are missing the bigger picture and your relationships will not last long and you are going to live a very lonely and conflictfilled life.

That is why it is important. Not because in the finale of the dsmp Dream’s reveal changes any of his actions, but because it changes our perspective of him and that changes how we act next. Whether we show compassion and empathy or understanding or forgiveness of someone’s actions or run the hell away. (Whether a conflict breaks out over you stomping on my foot so I step on yours back.)

As an engineer, a nerdy metaphor I could use is that it’s kinda like if situations were an equation then the effect and action is the answer (the one side of the =), but sometimes we need to used the other side of the = to solve for x, so we can solve the next equations.

The deep down matters because it should change your action. It matters because in recent years after excusing my behavior because of something or the other, I realized ya know other people might also have a valid reason too. So while my automatic assumption of why they are late to class is that they are lazy, or rude, or don’t care, maybe maybe they actually woke up nauseous and were throwing up which prevented them from being on time, maybe they fainted coming out of the shower, maybe their car wouldn’t start, maybe they had a doctor’s appointment beforehand, maybe there was a car accident making them late, maybe there was a train blocking the road…etc. there are so many reasons, but our mind just jumps to the worst, and we expect grace from others when we are late but wouldn’t give others the same benefit of the doubt. If we had, if instead of judgment and criticism, we checked on them after class to see if they are okay then maybe we learn of their struggle, and maybe they need our help, or maybe we relate and become friends, maybe you share your notes with them, maybe you give them a hug. The deeper meaning changes what you do and like the quote says, what you do is the impact on the world…

One might say that all he does with Destruction gives him a sense of control. Finally he can play HIS way. Speeding up things so he doesn't end up getting attached. Even better if he can be destroyed in turn some day. The combo of adrenaline and spices make for quite the addiction :3 If it turns out he sent spiced out cookies to Mystic then not even his supposed friend is safe from bull

It's rather interesting with what we've seen in Mystic Flour as the first Beast release. Girlie cared too much til she had no more f to give. BS destroys everything before he could prolly care. Can't wait to see Smilk spiraling into silly[tm] from knowing too much! Time to crave tragedy!!

I know, brother. Trust me. I've made a post addressing this before, and... Well. What I work on and study irl has an awful lot to do with history as a subject lol. I really need you wll to believe me when I say I understand the cycle of history. I know it so well, it hurts. It's part of why I'm such a cynic irl. I know exactly how awful history and people are. I really, truly do.

And you have a point, yeah. It could be a play for control. For things to be the way Burning Spice wants them to be, if only once. Sort of like what I suggested in that post: just cut out the middleman and end it all yourself. Be the "solution" to the "problem", before the problem even actually happens. It's a valid theory. Certainly an interesting one.

It's still bullshit at the end, though. Same with Mystic Flour's reasons for turning bad. Same as all the others' reasons probably will be.

Idk I think I'm just... tired at this point. History is a subject that is very near and dear to my heart for many reasons, and has been my whole life. In studying history, you learn a lot about people and life and the human condition. And part of that is hearing every single excuse for doing evil deeds possible. And in hearing Mystic Flour's backstory, and even Burning Spice's (how little we actually see), all I heard were all those same excuses all over again. And I got sick of hearing them a long time ago.

TBH as much as I prefer Toothless' first movie design, the one thing ill give credit for is the fact that I think the movie producers stated some where that the reason Toothless doesn't have his markings anymore is because he's growing up. Toothless is around Hiccups age which is even something Valka points out in the second movie, so you COULD make the hypothesis that he's loosing his sub-adult/"baby" features. Hence why he's more solid black, has a wider flatter head, and doesn't really have much of his markings anymore.

As for his personality; Toothless has always had the silly side to him regardless of the snark attached. You claim his personality got reduced to this stupid, slobbering 'dog', by the third movie when need I remind you he FULLY acted like a dog even in the first movie. Remember him with his butt wiggles when hiccup woke up? Him bounding about jumping from the rafters. Him making dumb goofy faces and doggy grumbles. He's always been a dork and boxing up his personality to him being "out of character" because he's not as snarky is such an odd take since toothless can and HAS had the ability to be both, not to mention the whole fact that Toothless much like Hiccup is suppose to be maturing into an Adult, but even if that's so, they still have time to have fun and play around, so really you have both sides of the coin there.

As for the Lightfury, ill give you that, they could've done better with her. But to be honest I always look at LF's as being a subspecies to a NF, and even nature has often shown that not all subspecies look entirely similar to the dominant species, which in this case would definitely be Night Furies. I look at her design as a design built more for a life in the light then the dark. Toothless' darker bluish/black coat helps him blend in the night, while the Lightfuries almost pearlescence helps her blend in with the light of the sun. It's probably why she stands out so much at night with her sparkles, because she's not really BUILT for the night like toothless is, same reason as why toothless sticks out like a sore-thumb in the morning. Their both built for varying conditions! So in some instances i can forgive some of the Lightfuries design choices. What I dont like is how bland she looks in terms of lack of spikes or such, but thats neither here nor there

Well sure, they could be his 'baby' features but I do think they made his design way more visually interesting than the solid black he became by movie 3. His model already stands out from every other dragon in universe (his more realistic proportions and the lack of sharp teeth to go with his slender frame)* so these marks really helped him blend more with the designs of the httyd universe.

* there are, arguably, other dragons with round features as well but most of them are the 'fat and slow' archetype (even then there are a lot of 'fat' dragons with excessively sharp teeth)

I feel like the whole 'they're the same age actually' was kind of unnecessary but still, doesn't excuse the chance in face structure to that extent. He looks like he's from another species (what does excuse the changes is the fact that they reworked the model).

And yes he always had that dog side to him even in the first movie BUT his core inspiration and 'values' were cat themed. He retains his cat personality in the second movie too, for the most part (for example, at around 10 minutes mark, we see him 'groom' himself to clean his face). But in the third movie they completely removed all that from his personality. They deliberately made him more dog-like. Even the sounds he makes are made to resemble barking. As for the 'slobbering' dog part it's literally part of the movie (with the poor excuse that 'he's in love').

Idk in the third movie I can't recall even a single moment where he actually acted intelligent on his own volition (I can't remember him acting intelligent at all but let's just say I'm wrong).

In the second movie it was made clear that he's more domesticated but still capable on his own. He didn't need help to socialize with the other dragons so I don't understand why he was so incapable of acting remotely 'normal' to make the light fury like him. Yes, she was unapproachable and cold (*cough playing hard to get because they didn't know what to do with her personality and her as a character cough*) but it still felt ooc.

As you said, Toothless has to ability to be both, at least in the second movie. 2 sides of the same coin, up to the second movie. In the 3rd movie, throughout the runtime, we never see him showing 'his other side'.

I wouldn't say that he matured into an adult but still has time to play, I'd say they reduced him to a less intelligent animal than what he was in previous adaptations (he feels like a Disney animal companion). Again, his characterization in the second movie is how I'd expect him to be in the third. He's arguably way more mature there while also having time to play and have fun while also keeping part of his personality.

As for the light fury, she seems so, out of place in this universe too. At least the design of the night fury has scales and looks rough. She looks like they forgot that she's supposed to be a dragon. But it was obviously done to make her look more 'feminine' (a lot of her design can be explained if you keep in mind they only wanted her to be the 'female' dragon, the romantic interest). She's as stereotypical as it goes, the next level would be to make her pink (that would kinda work actually if they kept Toothless bluish undertones but by the 3rd movie they completely removed them to favor a pure black, a bit on the warmer side)

Her white color makes her blend into the sun, sure, but what does that mean? Does she fly all the time? Or is her natural habitat somewhere with snow? A pure white design is pretty sure, but not practical at all. She appears to be a dragon for warmer climates (and if she's indeed a subspecies to the night fury that would confirm it), so no snow. She just doesn't blend in. Her habitat is so colorful she stands out like sore thumb, both during the day and night time.

Her white skin also makes the choice to make her so smooth really weird. She's basically unable to blend in with her surroundings so one would expect that she'd at least have sharp features, claws or horns, to help her survive potential attacks. If they didn't want to make her look rough they should have made her have a defense mechanism to protect herself. maybe she should be able to turn invisible, maybe she lives in the water, something, anything.

Personally I can't forgive any of the decisions made to create the light fury. I can understand, sure, but I'm still left with so many 'why?'s.

i mean the fandom definitely doesn't downplay sam cheating lmao. at least not on tiktok or reddit. generally i think it's considered the worst thing she ever did. people hate her for that more than they hate the other characters for literally anything, including physical assault and attempted murder.

miguel maybe? the show and fandom both kinda excuse him for it because he pays the price during the school fight. mind you i think if sam had been the one who ended up paralyzed (fire fanfic idea btw) people would still probably hate her more than they hate miguel in canon.

the show downplays it by never really having sam or miguel apologize to tory and robby, but again. the reason they don't is because tory attempted to kill sam and robby came very close to actually killing miguel. like in juvie robby full didn't know whether miguel would make it or not and he doesn't seem to show remorse about it. did sam and miguel hurt them first? yeah. but tory and robby hurt them more, and i think it'd be hard for anyone, let alone teenagers with PTSD, to be the first to apologize in that scenario. by the time they're all on the same side, it doesn't seem like tory or robby want an apology either or care to have one (which. doylist explanation is just that the writers didn't care to have it).

frankly more than the cheating i wish they'd acknowledge how miguel helped to escalate the school fight for almost all its entirety. during robby and miguel's fight in s5, robby should've actually said the words "i'm sorry" instead of just "it was also the worst moment in my life" like bruh c'mon. why are you making this about you he got PARALYZED. and after that miguel should've apologized for escalating the fight when robby was trying to stop it. if the writers gave a damn about miguel and tory's relationship they should've apologized to each other too.

i think the actual words "i'm sorry" being spoken are also why almost everyone generally agrees sam and tory's apology scene is better. but notice how during that scene, tory says "it's not like you haven't tried to kiss my boyfriend before" but robby never says anything like that to miguel? sam will always hold the blame in the writers' and fandom's eyes for the kiss despite being hammered.

tory and miguel should've apologized to each other. sam and robby should've also apologized to each other. at some point robby should've learned that when the kiss happened, sam was reeling from learning that robby had lied to her (i have. thoughts about sam's feelings here but i won't get into them rn). sam's actions in s3 should've been more consistent. she went to the skate park everyday to look for robby and emails him all the time but never once tries to visit him in juvie? could make a watsonian explanation that daniel told her how angry he was and so she was afraid to see him or maybe she was mad about what happened to miguel but idkkk she does still email him. she clearly does still care for him. robby's actions are also weird i think him being this mad at daniel is just strange. way too many of robby's plot points are dependent on bad timing lmfao.

the writers didn't want to completely villainize sam but still needed to give robby a reason to join ck so that's why characters have to act super inconsistent. daniel not visiting robby in juvie even ONCE is insane considering he tells him he'll visit everyday. sure, robby was hanging up on his calls, but that shouldn't have stopped daniel. sam and daniel both had to be ooc to give robby a reason to fall into kreese's clutches. it's just weird.

i got very off topic but tldr it would've been nice to get proper apologies from miguel and sam for cheating. but it also would've been nice to get proper apologies from robby and tory for attempted murder 💀 the fandom doesn't downplay sam's cheating, but it does downplay miguel's, albeit for somewhat good reason
