I want your opinion on this:

I feel like the difference between the two sides of the ACOTAR fandom is that one side defends characters whose actions might have been somewhat questionable while trying to do something good or for the greater good, while the other side defends characters whose actions have hurt the people who loved them, for no real reason.

For instance…supporters of Tamlin or Nesta or Lucien, they usually have to mention all their trauma (which all ACOTAR characters have) to excuse the things they did. At the same time, they ignore everyone else’s (especially the IC’s) trauma, while trying to take every single action of theirs out of context to try and make them seem evil. Even though everything the IC has done has had a good intention behind it. They have also saved the whole world, including their favorite characters and people still be excessively hateful towards every slightly negative thing they ever did. Meanwhile Tamlin, Nesta, Lucien have hurt people that loved them without a reason—whether that was jealousy or control or lack of empathy or anything like that, they harmed those who cared about them because they felt the right to.

I want to know what you think about this, because you seem smart in how I see you talk in other blogs.

I actually think you’re spot on anon and couldn’t agree more. The divide in the fandom (im going to be annoying but it also reflects on the shipwars) is due to this Victim vs every abuser was once a victim mentality and no one wanting to see how grey and complex each relationship is instead of it simply being “she did this therefore she’s wrong and my character is better” take.

Just focusing on Nesta’s and Feyre’s relationship (this is just a generalisation of what I’ve seen)

Feyre stans can’t like Nesta and struggle with emphasising with her character because of what she put Feyre through unnecessarily. Making Feyre think she was unloved & carrying the burden of their family’s survival and when Feyre did ask Nesta to do something it would come with complaining- basically its hard to like Nesta when she made Feyre’s already miserable life…even more miserable especially when we read about how it made Feyre feel and as a reader you can feel Feyre’s isolation and it bring this sense of anger and unfairness bcs why is Feyre the one being treated so badly when - out of the kindess of her heart (and a promise to her mother) she has been hunting for her family all these years? It makes the sisters to most readers - unrelatable and Nesta (in this regards) more so unlikeable bcs Nesta was actively acting terrible whereas Elain was kind to Feyre but just a useless airhead.

we flip this coin onto most Nesta stans that can empathise with Nesta because they know how it feels to be angry, misjudged and having walls up to keep everyone out. They understand how daunting, humiliating etc it must have felt for Nesta to have her wealth and status taken away so she’s reduced to poverty - they understand this will affect and change any childs’ behaviour especially when you consider Nesta was in her main developmental stage - the stage where everything affects you and begins to shape you as a person. Most Nesta Stans understand that Nesta’s anger was there because of how abruptly her situation changed and the one adult that was supposed to take care of them and guide them to a better life just began to say back. That anger & resentment at her useless father built up throughout the years - Nesta wanted their father to step up but he didnt, Feyre did.

narratively, we’ve had about 3 books of seeing Nesta being prickly & just an overall difficult character- those stans that liked Nesta pre-acosf had to justify their like for Nesta in a fandom that hated her and whats the best way to justify something? Invalidate something else - in this case hate & judgement came from Feyre stans so people began to invalidate Feyre and how she’s unreliable, also not perfect & made terrible mistakes. Acosf fueled takes against Feyre even more considering she forced Nesta to live in the H.O.W despite how much “choice” means to her - Nesta was given none. So thats one divide in the fandom. Feyre against Nesta.

For feyre stans its like, “how can you even like a character thats been so “abusive”, mean and just terrible to everyone around her”. Whereas Nesta stans are like, “how can you not emphasise with what nesta went through and see why it made her the way she is? You do realise your own characters aren’t perfect so why is Nesta being dogged on”

This also applies to the whole Tamlin vs Rhys debate. Or Nesta vs IC debate.

To sum it up - half the fandom agrees with “trauma isn’t an excuse” whilst the other agrees with “trauma is an explanation”

none of these characters are perfect but when you have interpreted terrible characters like Nesta and Tamlin - you can be shamed for liking them therefore as I mentioned before to justify something you invalidate something else. This fandom for a long time idolised the IC whereas they’re each heavily flawed - I think it can be frustrating for Nesta/Tamlin stans to be constantly judged for liking their characters where as no one bats an eye at inner circle stans when they gang have done bad/questionable things as well. Yet the thing with Nesta/Tamlin stans is that they take things too far to the point where the narrative Mass spent time crafting around these characters is twisted. For example- “Rhys manipulated Feyre into falling for him and has actually never given her any choice” now, come on. We know thats not true - its not the authors’ intent - is Rhys perfect? No. Is Feysand perfect? No. But to say he’s been tricking her is just false and so that brings frustrations from Feysand/IC stans bcs if you have to come up with such distorted takes on these characters then you’re biased and in the wrong.

I think it rlly comes down to your biases and which side of the take, “trauma isnt an excuse vs trauma is an explanation” you agree the most with.

me when i wake up and talk every day about the same shit. heart <3 i could talk for days abt jin and the misogyny he writes with. it's everywhere of course lol but out of the female characters takane's like…. the most tragic, in my opinion, because she's the only female character to have absolutely 0 backstory. yes, there's Some stuff, such as her illness, but truly takane does not have that much angst surrounding her illness. everything about her is rather about haruka. takane's moment is yuukei yesterday, but yuukei yesterday is entirely about both haruka and takane and their relationship. yes it's takane's pov, but it's ultimately still about… haruka, and how she feels about him.

back then in the fandom, pre over the dimension specifically, there was a take going around i remember pretty well. "people write haruka and takane like there's nothing more to them than being in love with each other" like the only time we'd see haruka and takane specifically (in fan content), they'd just be there to be shippy. i TOTALLY agreed with this sentiment and i always have, especially because i've always been obsessed with them as characters and i was overanalyzing every little thing (when otd came out i was over the moon bc i got so much stuff right btw. if u even care)

HOWEVER. if u think about it. pre over the dimension, with the manga having covered yuukei yesterday already and the next time takane (and haruka) appear as themselves in the manga is A LOT later in volume 10 (by that time, otd was already out) (also i'll get to takane in 2nd manga route in a second), so what we had at the time, for haruka and takane's backstory, was manga&novel yuukei yesterday and what we got from the anime. if you consider this… truly, at first the only thing to go off really was. just their relationship. that was all there was to both of them, because haruka was described from takane's pov, and everything we got from takane was how she felt for haruka. that was IT. for everything else u had to read between the lines like i was doing bc 10 years later i'd still be here talking about it teehee

of course there are also the songs. takane's songs set in time before she's ene are yuukei yesterday and of course headphone actor, one of the Best kagepro songs dont even come AT ME anyways headphone actor as a song touches THE OTHER BIG THING we were offered about takane at the time. okay, she isn't JUST in love with haruka. the other thing about takane is… she wants to SURVIVE!!!

which brings me to. ugh. second manga route. takane….would not…. KILL HERSELF…. second manga route WHY. we finally get to see Takane again in the manga and she's just so spectacularly NOT HERSELF it's crazy. takane since her INTRODUCTION is presented as "selfish" and how her want for attention from haruka or in general gets the best of her. that's ene. THAT'S ene!!! that's also why ENE stays with shintaro!!! it is FUNDAMENTAL to her character. we were given miserably little about her and in the most simplified way to put it, those things are: takane 1. is an attention whore<3 2. doesn't want to die. so tell me. how do you manage to get these 2 very simple things so incredibly WRONG in second manga route.

where in the world would takane get mad haruka got another friend. it makes NO sense!?!? bro haruka and shintaro ARE ALSO BEST FRIENDS IN THE MAIN ROUTE, where takane ACTUALLY HAS REASONS TO ACTIVELY REALLY DISLIKE SHINTARO, and she doesn't give a fuck that they're friends, why would she randomly care so much now when she has no reason to even dislike shintaro? so basically because she doesn't have ayano she gets jealous and wants haruka all to herself?? erm ok?? let's say that's true (it's not), even if she was jealous of shintaro her desire to be by haruka's side WILL be stronger, she would NEVER just turn around and leave. absolutely NOT. one of the stupidest things takane does is want haruka to look her way so bad she doesn't realize HE'S DYING ON HER. this bitch is so insanely self centered she would never in her life walk out on haruka just for having another friend. REAL takane walks in there with that stupid basket and be like Everyone look at me NOW<3

dear lord. anyways i've talked about that loads of times but i needed to include it in this talk cuz. yeah. i dont even HATE the rest of second manga route i just hate how takane is written specifically but since she's everything 2 me erm. you get my thumbs down!!! anyways having acknowledged second manga route we can move on.

back to main route discussion. so takane's backstory. not super deep, especially compared to other characters. yes her backstory is basically that she's sad because her boyfriend dies. but as ene there's so much more to unpack, right?! a character who will 100% accept a HALF DEATH because she's so determined not to die, but she's also mentioned to be tirelessly looking for her body because despite everything she's got HOPE? that's SUPER interesting, i love her!! what will she- *is obsessed with shintaro* ene's obsession with shintaro again ties in with everything else, desperate for attention, finds kinship with shintaro because she (or rather, ayano) decided he's compatible with her, but most importantly, he's doing badly and she wants to help him. takane isn't a person anymore, she's alive only as a technicality, so… she spends time with shintaro! but we ignore, it's TWO YEARS. and only in one of those she is with shintaro. we tend to overlook she spends the WHOLE TIME looking for her body in that other year. of course ene talks a lot about how much she loves her power, how much she loves being ene and not having to take care of her sick body but it's a REALITY that she wants to get it back. if she really didn't want it, why would she look for it and later get back into it when she does find it? but that's in between the lines. ene's obsession with shintaro is super interesting and you KNOW i love everything we know about takane be it her obsession with shintaro or her crush on haruka. i just wish there was....more.... like everyone else gets more! like HARUKA, a damn side character, gets more!!

haruka gets so SO much, he even bonds with SETO!! he gets a really well developed friendship with shintaro, he gets a very long detailed introduction scene with ayano with funny younger mekatrio shenanigans, he gets yuukei quartet hangout moments, he gets a GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH KENJIROU (fundamental imo as he's very important both in general and haruka and takane's social circle back then) and not just all that, but super thoughtfully written feelings about his illness, views on life, wishes... and all takane's story gets is…. she's sick, but it's ok it's not deadly, HARUKA HOWEVER…. oh, HE'S the real delicate one….especially since she's in love with him ofcourse!! dont forget!! btw she's grumpy cuz of her illness. she wishes she just didn't need sleep. aaanywaaays did we mention it's not as important as haruka's illness and btw she's in love with him?

unlike haruka, takane gets no relationship with ayano, and all their interactions are talking about how in LOVE they are with haruka and shintaro. no relationship with kenjirou beyond comic relief of ugh useless ass teacher, even revealed later on she stays in the dark about kenjirou forcing them to participate in the festival ON PURPOSE and playing her like that so she would be determined and make haruka join. her dynamic to shintaro pre being ene is just pitiful, and if it wasn't for his behavior towards her shintaro would be…. erm normal?? yea he's cold to ayano but that vs the way he randomly treats takane without even knowing her. god. imagine kagepro where shintaro DIDN'T do that. he'd still be flawed and stuff like what was the need😭 like HUUHH. takane gets nothing!!!!! and if we're still on the shintaro subject, why she's the asshole for being a menace as ene? whatever. i support women's wrongs. bully him harder.

alright. later she's ene, bonds with the dan. wait!! look!! it's KANO!!! she has so much in common with him, to the point he chooses her to open up to and helps her get her body back!!! this is a GREAT character choice to pair her with and to develop a dynamic with!! uh. oh wait….. kano's just totally awful to her and then later leaves her to get her body back offscreen and on her own? (looks into the camera again)

to continue comparing haruka and takane. takane mentions grandma makes her lunch, grandpa is dead, and they're both SUPER worried about her illness. there's…. nothing about their personalities or their relationship to her. meanwhile, haruka mentions everything! he's all like my illness… when it killed my mother it was exactly when the doctors said it would. my dad is cold and a little strange and doesnt spend time at home. we have a live in helper who does chores. like that's already so much deeper!

u find out through another mention later on that takane's parents work overseas but you dont know ANYTHING else despite it being so specific. while haruka goes on about his relationship with his dad or rather lack of relationship, and there's even some stranger at home doing chores for him. and again HE GETS TO HAVE A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH KENJIROU, heavily written as a father/son dynamic. man.

anyways…. this is kinda all over the place and it's something i talk about very often but teehee. wanted to do it again. i was thinking about it again because i realized i don't tend to draw haruka in a context outside being takane's boytoy. which i don't particularly care about because i know that's not all i see him as and i do see him as a deep character of his own and i like analyzing him just as much… it's just in art specifically he's just always there to be in love with her and nothing else. and i was like damn does that suck of me?? but you know what. i dont care<3 thanks for coming to my ted talk.

This universe is called the Terastal Hearts Universe!

Y'know the scene in Area Zero where your character sends out Koraidon/Miraidon to protect Kieran from the attack from Terapagos? Well, in the universe with Dusk, she jumped in the way of the attack instead and saved him!

Now... we know she "survives" (cough cough Hades went "nah bitch you ain't dying today" and yoinked her soul back into her body) in the main timeline, but in this one?

She still does, don't worry, but she's comatose. And Kieran has Terapagos. He has Ogerpon. He has everything Dusk had. Strong Pokémon. Power. The ability to do whatever he wants.

But it came at the cost of Dusk getting hurt, and he realized that it's not at all what he wanted. So now, he's left to pick up the pieces of what could have been, what happened because of him.

(Side note: Dusk, while alive, is haunting Kieran regardless! Her spirit is just kinda detached from her comatose body, so she's just observing like "Kiki noooooo")

So TLDR: He is a very sad boy because he fucked up and lost his girlfriend in the death divorce (<-the way one of my friends described the au)

It's ONLY gonna be Kieran on this blog, mainly for my sanity so I don't have to try and do two different blogs w/ multiple characters lol (unless I get the random urge to throw Drayton into here bc he's very worried for Kieran in this AU)

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

This is fun bc I both love and hate him.

He is absolutely his best in fusion. He was my first favorite from mfb for a reason. Just, his character arc and the way he and his relationships with other characters progress is so well done and makes me so giddy. He is legitimately cool as hell and it’s very sweet seeing his interactions with other characters. His dynamics with Benkei, Tsubasa, and Hyoma are some of my favorites in fusion, as well as with Madoka and the others of the main gang. He’s so loveable and enjoyable and that makes the fact that I really don’t like what they did with him in other seasons so much worse 😭

I think the biggest thing for sure is I hate how much is later character revolves around gingka so much. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to deny that their dynamic is extremely important to his character, but I feel like so much of his personality, motivation, and relationships with other characters suffer SO much because it ultimately keeps coming down to his rivalry with gingka in the end. He starts being annoying in the first half of masters because of it— his relationship with Nile and his appearance at the end of the season in hades city salvage his character in masters a little bit for me— and then is at his worst in fury because there’s little else going for him there. I’ve said it before and like, I don’t think the idea of him having a character regression is bad in of itself, but the execution of it is so poorly done that he just legitimately becomes an extremely annoying and unlikable character without enough time to satisfyingly work through his issues. Like I still mostly love him overall but like yeah fury does a lot to assassinate his character.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

My two that are old as time that I still hold dearly in my heart are that he’s a trans guy and he’s half Mexican <3 he was the first victim of my transmasc mexican projection beam and the gateway for me to project onto half of the rest of this cast

coughs. fury. specifically like how he interacts with yuki and Tithi STOP BULLYING THOSE CHILDREN MAN THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS GOING ON RN

Some other honorable mentions that are things that I actually really love that live rent free in my mind:

- every interaction he has with Hyoma they make me ill /pos

- That one scene where he’s visibly really enjoying the kabob that Hyoma made and then he catches himself and gets embarrassed and turns his head away

- His moment with Madoka after he forfeits at the end of the survival battle

- Every interaction he has with Tsubasa during battle blader

- And also the little interaction he has with Tsubasa after the main portion of the masters finale

- Most of his moments with Nile but especially the previously shown scene where he’s smiling at him while using his special move

i saw a post earlier that q!tubbo is the only "moral" character even after purgatory and it's kinda kept me awake, not because i don't agree with the sentiment (i do) but because the idea of morality as intrinsically important in fandom / character analysis is fascinating to me, *especially* when we're talking about the morality of someone who's basically just spent two weeks in some eye guy's budget hunger games.

first off, while i fully agree that by the end of this q!tubbo *is* a character that tried at every turn to be kind and generous even to his own detriment, how does that make him more or less "moral" than q!phil or q!fit? he still killed, the same as them. he still strategized to beat his friends, has blood on his hands — why is he marked above x, y, or z in the moral scale?

well, one could argue that he did what he did for his team, for the eggs, and because he was forced to when he was put in the game in the first place, yeah? it's not his fault he's in this position, and he's doing his best to survive it. i personally think that's totally valid and justifiable, but it leaves a huge elephant in the room.

what about everyone else?

i'm going to use q!bad as an example because he's my main pov, and before i go into this analysis i want it known i'm very much playing the devil's advocate and illustrating a point — i am not saying his actions are "good". good? good.

okay. so, q!bad. here we have a non-human father who was told by his missing child to win regardless of the cost, or whomever he had to run over. he had to win. is it immoral then for him to take that to heart and play the game the way it was presented? is it immoral for him to kill for his child, or to be determined to win even in detriment of others? to want to use the same strategies in the battlefield that everyone else would, even if they're not kind or polite?

i don't fucking know, because morality isn't linear — this situation *isn't* linear bc if people will go on the record saying they would kill for their child and are praised for it, what makes q!bad's actions in the universe he's existing in any different?

you can even say that by some perspectives, q!tubbo extending so much kindness to his competitors over and over again was at times (or could've been) detrimental to his team ergo their childrens' lives and yet he still did it. is it more moral to save children or be nice to someone else?

my point being, i feel that the morality argument while very very interesting is kind of irrelevant bc when push comes to shove, characters aren't compelling bc they have more or less morals — i genuinely think a lot of media / character consumption has *actively* been harmed by everyone's need to have the thing they enjoy be "good" or "moral" or "right" bc if it isn't, what does that say about us?

the answer to that one is: absolutely nothing, but man do i think sometimes people in fandom feel guilty if they like or prefer an immoral or grey character vs a "stereotypical" moral one.

anyway, all this to say that i think by the end of purgatory, q!tubbo is the character that was most true to himself and his values from start to finish, and it's been a great watch. is he the most morally correct? eh. who the fuck knows.

(i finally made myself finish this. it was sitting in my files for like 4 months as a barely recognizable sketch, judging me *the pun shamelessly intended* for being that slow. 

but since i’m taking it easy atm, i thought why not give these arts another shot. esp bc i only recently realized that dredd an’ fear' are those two guys i really loved in the game, i played as a child at my aunt’s bf house all those years ago. i had no idea that it was connected to judge dredd movie *the old one* an’ even less so, that it had smth to do with comics at all. 

*kinda crazy how many of these fundamentally ‘my’ things had re-found me years down the line. an’ everything makes such a shocking amount of sense too. the sort, that kid brew could do nothing important or super fun with. but adult brew knows how to enjoy it properly. it literally aged like fine wine for me.*

but oh, dredd an’ fear, i feel like one of those cases, where writers are kinda low-key afraid to expand on certain possibilities, bc many of them have the exact same problem with batman an’ scarecrow. my main theory, is that it’s not even ‘this would have been too gay’ sort of hold up, but that men are historically afraid of intimacy, esp between each other. doesn’t even have to be romantic stuff. just general intimacy. smth that you can reach only in that specific context, with those specific characters. but that’s just a theory! like, there are many other things, that make it impossible. as well, as the fact, that i can’t say that judge dredd is super rich when it comes to delivering an emotional punch. even if sometimes, it does this fairly effectivly.

but anyhow, i love the idea of dredd being forced to deal with the undead creature, who is fixated on him, simply bc he’s the only man, who has ever survived him. i mean, there was that one child, who also wasn’t scared of judge fear an’ didn’t die from a heart attack like anyone else, but fear threw him out of the window in fit of rage, so technically he still killed him lol. i also love the implication, that dredd can in fact feel afraid, but considering how emotionally stunted he is, perhaps, that’s what kinda saves him. what he might see tho, is another question as fear’s ‘face’ is supposed to project a person's deepest terror an’ nightmare right at his victim, stopping their heart as result. i love the idea of dredd being able to see fear’s actual face. be it a nightmarefuel, which was shown to us a couple of times, or his actual face. the one, that he seems to be very keen on hiding.

in short, i see so many opportunities to expand on both characters via their interactions with each other. esp since we barely know anything about fear at all. to me, he always feels like jonathan crane’s distant, alt dimension cousin. bc man, do they have quite a few similarities. i mean, if fear’s name was truly stanley kramer *this bit is unconfirmed, but i keep this as my personal hc* then you can’t tell me, that this wasn’t intentional. like, crane … kramer. both are thin, fugly, obsessed with fear an’ that one guy, who sends them to asylum / prison, cuz he's not afraid of them.

an' oh, by old men yaoi, i mean actually that. dredd ages in real time. so even, if he doesn't look it, he's 80 smth. an' judge fear is either around the same age, or maybe even way older. not that it matters for him, since he's literally an evil undead zombie ghost thing.

as for arts themselves, they are mostly based on judge dredd vs death game, less so on the comics. i really love how dredd have to navigate sewers in order to find fear. this is also the coolest level too.

but i think, that real culprit of my inspo was this,

i love how fear being low-key villainously poetic here. an' in the beginning of the level, he says 'dredd. i can smell your fear, dredd'. with what he can smell it with is a mystery. but he has way more lines directed at dredd vs mortis or fire, which is kinda curious. i guess, bc fear does like to talk big an' generally to run his mouth, even if in way lesser extend than judge death.)

as the last episode of season 5 of bsd came I want to say my thoughts on it

bungou stray dogs was one of my favourite animes years ago and then when I found the manga I absolutely fell in love with it. it was so perfect: the characters, the art, the plot the found family trope, the light novels, the beast au, dazai's character, akutagawa's one as well, sokouku and shinsoukoku.

but this last episode really was... something

I felt like I wasn't watching that emotional deep anime anymore( tbh I felt like that throughout the last 2 seasons bc of studio bones and their struggles to animate it without earsing essential parts for the plot/charcters development). I for real felt like I was watching a kids show( yay power of friendship)

here are the main things I didn't like:

-how didn't fyodor notice that chuuya wasn't actually a vampire?? and that both him and dazai were trying to be nominated for the Oscars? like fr, chuuya literally had red contacts and fake fangs glued on. that doesn't sound like something that could fool fyodor at all, like... why made him a "genius" character if he can be fooled easy like that

-with all this "we were acting" thing, asagiri erased all the heartful moments between dazai and chuuya(ex: dazai saying his goodbyes, him being in pain bc of chuuya's gun)

--fyodor's death?!? it was so... underwhelming( but I loved how poor Nikolai reacted, that was like the only thing I liked from this ending)

-how we find out that fukuchi actually wasn't planning something so evil and how he already planned that the one order will listen to fukuzawa's voice AND that continuing into an even greater chaos... at this point it feels like the story will never end

-the plot armour. this was already a problem, as many other things I said here, but now is even worse. we already were making theories that x is not dead and y will be healed by yosano, but now is getting boring. for 5 seasons we had so many fights and all of our lovely charcters somehow survived all of them, at this point I'm not even worring even if the end of the world comes( ironic, isn't it) bc I know that almost everyone will survive. it's not that I'm mad that they didn't die/suffer( my pookie akutagawa is alive after all), but still...

there are many other things that needs to be said, but I'll resume to these for now

What still shocks me is how jaemin and mc were literally doing the deed and didn't realise haeuns situation like now. I'm so eager to know, like, would they blame themselves or like, would harun survive like im so curious to know what will happen. Will jsemin and mc distance themselves blaming the fact that if they weren't so lost in each other, they'd had heard the phone but didn't so I'm really curious to what would happen between them bc I was thinking how their dynamics would change and maybe jaemin could go into depression bc of how worried and each grip of hope is leaving. Like what if he isolates himself from everyone and never leaves haeuns side at all. Or when haeun well again she could see jaemins state and start to like maybe think it was her fault at stuff yk but she's a lot and she wouldn't understand but she would have some special connection but it also burdens her to think her dad has to go through this all for her but jaemin reassures her she was never the problem bc he found happiness when she came into his life. Like im acc curious to know what will happen next. When do you think you'd be uploading part 3?

Sorry if I rambled alot I'm just really excited like my heart dropped when the last part came and the writing like I couldn't read half of it due to dyslexia but like when I reread and understood it was like sooo good bc it's like mc had like bad visions and stuff as she said she saw the im not sure what is was a crow maybe I've got really bad memory but she saw it go near haeun and when she was like trying to avoid it when the crow went to the room almost like a grim reaper ready to take haeuns life if it was fast enough to get to her and put so much darkness in the peoples hearts who cared for her deeply like it was so good plss update part 3 soon!!

oh my god, you have no idea how much i appreciate your excitement and how deep you’re thinking about all of this—you literally made me smile so hard with this. i love when people go off in the asks and start spiralling about what the characters might do or feel, because honestly? that’s exactly what i do when i’m planning and writing! i really appreciate you bringing up those worries because i totally get why your mind would go there (it’s such a big, emotional moment!). but for me, it’s not that deep in the way some fics would go, just because jaemin and mc were having sex, it doesn’t mean that if they hadn’t been, haeun’s medical scare/death wouldn’t have happened. her collapse is about her illness, not anyone’s “fault,” and they know that. there’s no lingering, dramatic blame or regret here; both of them are the type to focus on what really matters, and right now, that’s being there for their girl.

they might feel a little shock at how quickly things can turn, but they’re not going to spiral into guilt or turn on themselves. if anything, it just makes them all the more grateful that they were close by and able to get to haeun so fast—two hallways away, and everything changed, but they made it. that’s the core of it. i’m not one to write plots that hinge on blaming or punishing characters for intimacy or happiness; life is complicated enough. so really, the aftermath is about loving harder, holding each other tighter, and moving forward as a family, not lingering on what-ifs. 🩷 also one of the main reasons jaemin and mc even let themselves get lost in that moment together is because, up until then, haeun had actually been recovering well. it’s mentioned in the story—her numbers were stable, her symptoms under control, and for once there was room to breathe. after so much fear and constant vigilance, they finally felt safe enough to just be with each other, to let down their guard and remember what it means to be human, to be partners as well as parents. it wasn’t careless or selfish—it was hope, relief, and a little bit of normalcy breaking through the storm. if anything, it just shows how much they’ve had to put aside, and how much they love each other and their baby girl.

i love that you picked up on the symbolism too! it was a crow—almost like a little omen or harbinger, and you’re so right, it’s meant to feel like a brush with the reaper. mc’s visions and that sense of dread, the feeling of fate lurking right outside the door, are going to keep playing into the next part. i adore that you picked up on all of that. and as for the family dynamic, you’re so right again—haeun is so little, but even at two, kids sense when things are wrong. there’s absolutely going to be a moment where she starts to wonder if all this pain is her fault, and jaemin’s biggest job (besides just keeping her safe and alive) will be helping her understand that her existence is never the problem, that she’s actually what gives him purpose and joy.

as for the update… i love that you’re so excited, it makes all the hours writing so, so worth it, but i did want to say: i’m taking a bit of a step back from tumblr right now (idk if you saw my last few posts, but i’m feeling drained being on this space, personal things are happening and i feel like i’m only perceived as sort of machine that gets out posts, it sucks), so part 3 won’t be out super soon. i want to do it right and not rush anything just to get it out fast. so please bear with me, and thank you for being so understanding and lovely—it means more than you know.

andrew stared at the army of soldiers in their path

this entire plan had gone sideways and rolled over and gone to shit nearly the moment it started 

they’d managed to survive so far thanks to the foxes clever thinking

but they were out of plans and out of time

he was out of plans

and yet the foxes were here, with their heads held high, more willing to end this dead than to being the fjerdan’s prisoners

andrew was done with being prisoner in this life

and then neil was speaking to jean in rapid ravkan 

they all turned towards them, as the fjerdan’s announced they had to the count of ten to give them jean back and surrender

jean looked terrified before, but his gaze turned to one of desperation

“you don’t understand,” he said in broken kerch, “a single dose-”

“i understand.” neil’s voice was steel, and andrew knew that whatever insane thing he was thinking of, he was 100% set on doing it

he didn’t understand what they were talking about until jean produced a little leather pouch from his pocket, its rim stained with rust colored powder

andrew’s heart seized in his chest

“no.” he said, voice firm and demanding. he grabbed for the parem, but neil was faster. he looked at andrew with pained yet reassuring eyes. andrew could feel his control breaking.

the fjerdan soldier was still counting. seven…

“neil, i know you’re stupid, but you can’t do this,” kevin pleaded, “you’ve seen–”

“some people don’t get addicted after the first dose”

“it isn’t worth the risk.” saints he was so fucking angry, the others turned to him at the raw rage in andrew’s voice

“we’re out of tricks,” neil whispered, the implicit you are out tricks a heavy weight in his chest

“neil–” andrew couldn’t bring himself to say it, not after all the hurt the word caused him, but he knew neil heard it anyway, and he knew neil could see the anguish in his eyes

andrew could feel him slipping through his fingers even if he was right fucking there–

neil only smiled at him, eyes teary and apologetic

“thank you, you were amazing.” neil raised his hand, as if he wanted to touch his cheek, but thought better of it and only let it hover briefly. andrew didn’t know what he would answer if neil asked him yes or no. “if it gets bad, find a way to end it, andrew. i’m trusting you to do the right thing.”

“three!”

before andrew could react, neil tossed his head back and poured the parem into his mouth, downing it in a single hard swallow. he grimaced for only a second, squeezing his eyes, before he became frighteningly still.

“two!”

when he opened his eyes, his pupils were dilated and he stared at andrew for the barest fraction of a second, before moving past him and stepping down from the tank. the air around him seemed to crackle, his skin glowing as if lit from within by pure magic. as if the saints’ power flowed right through him

andrew could feel the moment he lost neil, and as he singlehandedly took down the fjerdan army

he knew they had no other option if they wanted to survive

but at what cost?

Okay, I’ll admit, I was starting to have some doubts with my Yuma storyline for the Misfit AU, mainly because it feels like it overshadows the rest of the characters and the main point of the Misfit AU: a bunch of misfits from Kanai Ward coming together as a family to survive in the adult world of Kanai Ward. I mean, Yuma could very well fit the Misfit theme by being one of the few kind souls willing to act on their kindness in Kanai Ward.

However, I think his kind heart could be used against him by having Amaterasu and Peacekeepers (mainly Amaterasu bc the Peacekeepers are more openly corrupt) take advantage of his sense of justice for their own gains.

The main difference between Yuma and the Nocturnal Detectives is that they learn to overcome their struggles and become strong-willed. Yuma, on the other hand, is a sensitive boy who wears his heart on his sleeve, and was taken advantage of while still in his vulnerable state. Yuma is also known to be kind of a people pleaser and well-behaved, so rebellion is very unlikely compared to the other detectives.

Another thing to note is the potential the groups see in the detectives. There are individual reasons for why the detectives are outcasts towards Kanai Ward, and why the Peacekeepers and Amaterasu treats them as outsiders. They’re rebellious, they’re unpredictable, they go by their own beliefs and nature. They will not be swayed or bend to their wills. But Yuma, who was a kid at the time, he has potential and is looking for his place in the world. They see a gifted child who is reserved and well-mannered and obedient to the authority figures. He’s basically perfect to mold him into their image.

I guess I just needed to write it out to see how Yuma sets apart from the detectives, and I need to like figure out their own stories that could play into the overarching narrative so they aren’t really overshadowed.

But what are you guys’ thoughts? Since I believe I need multiple opinions to think on this kind of thinking.

He was the strongest (yowaimo) but wasn't even granted the mercy to die at the end of his narrative! Broke my fucking heart.

Ancient Spirit/Archaeology AU 🔍

A/N: Found some time at last to get to my Ancient Spirit/Archeology AU moodboard! 🔍 The setting for this is the geography of the OP world, but placed in the equivalent of our modern time.

🔍 Premise Below:

Robin is the lead archeologist for an excavation project concerning Ancient Hairong and discovered a hidden tomb a little ways outside the main city after months of research.

(Luffy mostly tagged along, Nami is an environmental archeologist, Franky & Usopp are field tool technicians, Zoro is weapons specialist, Sanji is the dig cook, Brook is a linguistic and acoustic specialist, etc.).

After more exploration, they found 5 chambers containing various artifacts and writings, before encountering a door that seemed to be covered in seals & talismans. Luffy being Luffy, was fiddling with a dragon statue in front of the door and removed a seal with good intentions to ask Robin about it, causing the door to the main tomb to open 😂 That’s how they found the forgotten body of Michelle, an ancient princess who was wrongfully murdered in a power struggle.

Law is a bioarcheologist & Chopper is his intern, and they were waiting to examine the new remains when Robin & Co. brought Michelle back to HQ. However, ever since they arrived in Hairong, Law had been plagued with dreams and visions of a mysterious woman and living in an ancient time, yet whenever he reached out to take her outstretched hand, she faded away.

Michelle’s spirit was not happy at being disturbed, so upon arriving at HQ, she made it known & manifested to terrorize those who woke her back into the world that caused her much agony (to Usopp’s horror), but for some reason, when her eyes fell on Law, she calmed down and disappeared, leading to everyone leaving into his hands to perform a quick examination. He opened the sarcophagus and to his surprise, found Michelle’s corpse in near-perfect condition, save for the black hollowness where her heart should be. He realized that she was the one who haunted his dreams.

When he sees her again in his dreams that night, she pleads him to help her find peace and closure to pass into the afterlife. This kickstarts a forensic archeology journey for the team, taking them across the country in search of her missing heart and some lost relics, which caused them to run into unsavory characters, like robbers, individuals who perpetuate that she was a traitor, and even the mastermind behind her downfall who was still pulling strings in the country, having consumed the fabled fruits of longevity. During the journey, Law learned through records surviving revisionist purges that he was Michelle’s cherished guard & lover in his past life (yet she didn’t tell him, bc they exist on different planes of being). They grow closer & savor intimate moments with another, before everything is settled, allowing her to pass onto the afterlife, which was bittersweet for Law, who felt much heartache.

A month later, Robin informs him that they hired a forensic specialist for their department team, seeing that they needed one after the previous fiasco. To his pleasant shock, a woman with Michelle’s exact face greeted him & he had a mind not to scoop her into his arms. However, once they were alone & she was settled in the desk across from him, she quietly says, “I’m sorry I took so long to come back to you…Law.”

I looked at the mods and stuff for guns in Mass Effect 1 and said “that’s a lot of words too bad I’m not reading em” and speaking of romance wishes god I wish Garrus was bi and poly existed in the game I would’ve both Garrus and Tali romanced so hard they were my ride or dies I took them everywhere unless I physically couldn’t or needed a specific a companion for a mission. Also I must’ve been really blinded by Ashley’s comments on aliens because it seems a lot of people liked her when I wasn’t really feeling her in one guess I gotta give her more of a chance.

omfg yes, Garrus and Tali literally feel perfect in a poly yk? Like I've always took them with me on missions as a pair because their banter was so cute and they were the best balanced team for my character.

It is sad looking at older games and realising how much they hold themselves back just to appease their main demographic, like the legendary edition was two years ago and it would've made so much sense to make the aliens poly or bi. But they didn't because they didn't want to upset the majority of their demographic about the sudden change or getting into "Mass effect is woke now hmp! >:v" online scandal.

Like the romance is nice and every character is so sweet on their own, but something inside me dies each time I'm reminded this is strictly hetro and monogamous. Like I'd be having a blast cute moment with Kaidan then it hits me in the face that and I feel sad that all of this could've been missed if I had picked a male shepherd.

Games are evolving tho and that makes me happy. Especially shooter games bc we all know that's where the second most taxic gamers are, first being moba and souls-like games.

I'm happy that Liara is poly but also very shy and nervous around romance, that she admits this is not something she has ever done before. I'm glad Kaidan becomes bi because fuck yeah all the male shepherd deserves their beautiful bromance with him.

With Ashley, she is special. I like strong woman characters who are more aggressive. Like she truly embodies the soldier aspect of soldier while Kaidan feels more like a close friend with time. Ashley is someone who will punch a person if they were making you uncomfortable. She is someone who will march up to the cashier and tell them you asked for no pickles. Ashley would defend you in combat while Kaidan is more of a support.

She is more brash, confrontational. Punch first think later. Very protective and sweet in her own "no bullshit" kind of way.

With Garrus. He is so romantic and such a gentleman, my heart cannot take it. Like yk for a fact he is all starry eyed around you because you are a specter and he wanted to be one before. The way he thanks you all sweetly for letting him join your crew instead of leaving him with the annoying c-sec paperworks job. He is like RE1 Leon before he became jaded.

Tali is everything. Her genuine love for knowledge, for the craft and survival of her colony. She feels like a future ruler but before she became wiser. Tali is still in her wander and wonder phase while she travels the galaxy and gives her best to everything around her. She is earnest and very honest. Which is sad when she is met with suspicion for being too eager to help and study things.

Garrus and Tali would bond so much, shepherd would be the one keeping the both of them in check from forming a mad scientist cult that rescues kittens from trees.
