Here's some brief context to help:

Leo - The leader of the Resistance. Leo’s main focus is "fix the problem at hand" and hardly ever lets his people see his fear. Injuries include a cracked shell he hides behind his scarf and his amputated right arm. If it can be helped, he actually prefers not to wear a prosthetic, only wearing it for missions (this event kinda counts). He's also transmasc and wears a metal plastron chestplate built to look more rigid since female turtles have flat plastrons. Leo is dating Yuichi Usagi, a jackalope samurai, who is currently missing and presumed dead. Leo’s relationship to Casey Jr is a complicated one. In the comic, he's seen as skeptical and on guard around the kid. Little does anyone know that Leo blames himself for Casey’s infection and with that the entire apocalypse at large. He's just trying to fix the problem at hand.

Raph - Head Commander of the Resistance’s soldiers with April as her right hand. Oh yeah, Raph is bigender btw, switching between he and she. Currently in the comic, Raph is she. Raph’s gender presentation in the comp will switch between depending on whatever is convenient. (Idk I'm trying to work this out-) Raph is recently widowed, her partner Cassandra died when the team learned she was a Kraang for the past 8 years and had no choice but to put her down. Raph is left with Casey Jr, a son she didn't know about till a week ago. But she welcomes him with open arms and strives to be the best mother-father ever.

Mikey - When Casey was first rescued, Mikey was the first to show him compassion. He gave him sweets, taught him to read, write, and sign in ASL, and showed endless amounts of kindness and patience when it comes to Casey’s reintegration into society. To put it simply, he's the favorite uncle. The only one whose not afraid of his Kraang side.

Donnie - Master of multiple domains in the Resistance. Captain of the fleet, leading scientist and mechanic, in charge of the greenhouse, global network, and even is the head surgeon. His relationship with Casey is indifferent. Doesn't hate the kid, but never was one to show compassion either. His main focus is finding a cure to the Kraang infection, Casey’s hybrid body being a key to that solution. Either way, he's the only one who can neutralize Casey with a tranquilizer gun, should Casey ever go into his Kraang form.

Casey Jr - The one and only Kraang hybrid, half-alien half-human. He's only 8 years old but those 8 years have a lot of history. From being born Aztec, losing his biological family in a plane crash, getting adopted by Cassandra, getting briefly infected as an infant and becoming a hybrid, and being raised in Kraang society. After being rescued and witnessing his mom get put down in front of him, Casey’s worldview has been shattered. The turtles do their best to support him and help him unlearn the Kraang superiority mentality. Being a hybrid, Casey can transform into any Kraang monster he desires. It activates on its own when triggered by stress. And speaking of, the kid doesn't even know how to smile yet. He needs support, he needs to remain calm, and absolutely under no circumstances...should you ever let him starve. (Warning, Casey Jr has been susceptible to child abuse from the Kraang. Approach with caution.)

What does the bad timeline au look like for your boys 👀

OOOOH, here we go!

(So, I did hint to this in the NFIF/UIFY Crossover when DvD met Omega, and Omega ran a simulation to see what DvD's future would be like. It was a general explanation, but I'm gonna go deeper into detail now --)

2020: So, first off, the Krang attack in 2020, same as in canon. Leon, 'Phael, Mikey, and DvD manage to survive the invasion by some miracle. For the first year, they just focus on staying alive and hidden from the aliens, but by the end of that first year the reunite with April and their friends and discover the beginnings of the Resistance. (Karai was separated from them all as well, but no one has seen her yet and so they all assume she's dead.)

2023-2025: Several years pass, and there is still no sign of Karai. While the boys are out doing a supply raid, they get ambushed by a Krang attack and are caught in a collapsing building. 'Phael freezes in panic and Leon takes a hit to rescue him, though the two are trapped in rubble together as they wait for Mikey and DvD to dig them out. However... Leon doesn't have that long, and encourages Raph as the leader of their family to stay strong and take care of Mikey and Donnie and April and everyone else...

Leo dies, having saved Raphael.

2025-2030: The three mourn their brother, but do their best to help lead the Resistance. In 2026, Cass gives birth to a son, and 'Phael helps her to raise the child. However, during these five years, tragedy strikes again. Michelangelo's hypoglycemia has been acting up due to the low rations, and in spite of their promptings to take care of himself, Mikey has been intentionally skipping meals so the others can take his rations, effectively starving himself. That, coupled with the injuries he gets from his ninpo overdrive, finally takes its toll on his frail body.

Mikey starves to death.

2030-2035: After Mikey's death, Donnie and Raph have a hard time staying cheerful. And to add to the grief, Cassandra dies in battle as well. But some good comes to light, as the group receives word of a lone stranger roaming New York and saving survivors while battling the Krang. After investigating, they discover that Karai has survived and become something of a folk hero! She joins their Resistance, bringing her own group of survivors with her. During this time, Raphael has grown to be a force to be reckoned with, and even the leader of the Resistance! Donatello is working around the clock to create weapons and grow nutritional, non-contaminated plants that they can eat safely. It's hard work, but no one said the end of the world was easy. DvD discovers a formula and equation that may work for time-travel, but he is unsure... he starts to build the machine.

2035-2044: The Resistance is not looking good. They can barely go above ground anymore without being picked off and slaughtered. The food and supplies are running low. 'Phael realizes that the end is coming, and there may be no escape. He has Donnie work full-time on the time machine, as it is their last hope. The Resistance grows smaller and smaller with each passing month, until it seems like it's just Raph, DvD, April, Karai, and Casey Jones Jr., along with a few special people like Big Mama Frida Kahlo. Finally, in 2044, the Krang find their hideout and begin to slaughter the last of the Resistance. Raph has CJ and Donnie evacuate into the labs with the time machine, and while Raph holds them off, Donnie begins to power the machine with his ninpo and what little electricity they have left. Raph instructs Casey on what to do, that he's sending him back in time -- not necessarily to stop the Krang, but more importantly to save Casey from the attack. If nothing else, Casey must survive. If Raph can do nothing else but make sure that his boy sees a world without war, where he is healthy... that will be enough for him. That will redeem his mistakes, how he let his brothers die because of his failures and fear. Casey has to live. He tells him to find his family, warn them, and to find his sister as well, because she -- Suddenly the Krang break into the room, and Casey is thrown into the time machine. Dee's ninpo goes into overdrive and powers the machine, though it costs him his life. Raph manages to hold the Krang off until the machine does it's duty, and then...

Raph and Donnie die sending Casey Jones Jr. into the past.

The Request - a tiny snippet where Big Mama’s Assistant (Frida) snaps

Word Count: 1.5k

Frida swears under her breath and grabs the upper lip of Leo’s plastron. A deep growl escapes her throat before she raises Leo off the ground. “I’ve had enough of your incessant yapping, Blue.”

Raph and Mikey are quick to rush to her side, reaching for Leo.

Frida swipes a flaming claw at them, narrowly missing them by a scale when they jump back. “Don’t try to stop me, all you have been is a pain in my side! All you are doing is fooling around, making unnecessary moves that inevitably take us back five steps!”

She slams Leo to the ground, pinning him down by his neck. “I’ve had enough of your stupidity, your recklessness, your incompetence! Had I known how far back you would all take me, I would have let you die during the invasion!”

She cocks her fist back, striking the tips of her claws in the same motion to ignite the flames again. She has Leo pinned to the ground by his plastron still—has full intention to sock him right in the face—but he seems to be waiting. He’s simply watching her, garnering her reaction and only winces or shows a reaction when she inflicts pain.

And it only fuels her fury.

She nearly slams her fist down, but metallic claws grab her arm. They hold her arm in place and more reach to lift her hand from Leo’s plastron. But she won’t stand for it as she releases her pin on Leo to grab the metallic hands and throw them off her.

The softshell yelps in surprise as he flies over Frida’s shoulder and Leo takes this opportunity. He smiles confidently as he grabs Frida’s arms and pulls as he rolls to his feet. He throws her over his shoulder, but she’s fast and grabs hold of Leo’s plastron in the same movement.

It sends both of them tumbling to the ground with Frida the faster one on her feet. She rips Leo’s swords from their sheaths, letting her flames engulf their entirety. The blue pigment fades in her hands, lightning crackling sporadically until it dies to nothing. She throws the swords aside, the blades hitting the ground in several clanging thumps.

Frida steps on Leo’s plastron, pinning him to the ground once more. “I should’ve known the sons of the ‘Great Lou Jitsu’ would be nothing more than cowards running from responsibility.”

Raph and Mikey are joined by Donnie, watching Frida from the sidelines with their weapons ready, but they haven’t moved. It’s almost like they’re waiting…

“I gave you a simple request. Help me find someone important to me. Reunite me with them. That was all you had to do,” Frida seethes as she presses her weight to her foot, grinding her shoe into his plastron.

“How hard can it be to not make one single idiotic move for one hour? How is it possible that you have royally fucked up every step of the way?”

Leo winces at her harsh words, trying to lift her foot from his plastron.

“Why are you trying so hard to piss me off? You’re heroes, aren’t you? Then why must you make me the villain?!”

Leo coughs when Frida stomps on his plastron.

“You had one. Fucking. Job. Help me find my sister. It was so easy! I expected nothing less. I gladly would have fought in all our battles single-handedly if you had focused on the one thing you had to do.”

Leo’s head perks for a brief moment and his gaze shifted to his brothers. Whether this was noticed by Frida or not, she didn’t mention it as she stomped on Leo’s plastron once again. This time, it garnered the exact reaction she had been waiting for. A shift in the slider’s expression as he winces in pain, a cough and a whimper as he tries desperately to lift her foot off his plastron.

And she smiles.

For the first time since they embarked on this mission, he finally was showing an expression that wasn’t watching her every move, or making a fool of himself with his cocky attitude. For once, he looked terrified. And it made Frida relish in the fact that she was able to sink deep under that conniving skin so identical to Big Mama.

Pleased, Frida partially lifts her weight off Leo’s plastron. The slider makes several gasps of relief as he inhales what breaths he had lost.

Frida extinguishes the flames in her claws with a flick of her wrist and exhales slowly. She usually tries to carry herself with restraint, as taught by Big Mama for all of her life. But for once, she was glad she had flown off the handle at this moment. Somehow, these Hamato children always brought out the worst in her.

She can’t let them have the upper hand in her moment of weakness. Not again. This will be the last.

Frida finally lifted her foot off Leo, pivoting on her ankle to retrieve Leo’s swords. She cleans the blades on the cloth of her inner elbow and flips them to offer the blades’ hilts to the slider. An act of respect but also a show of power that she doesn’t expect Leo to retaliate.

“I believe we should go our separate ways. You obviously have no use for me and only aid in slowing me down. I’ll find them on my own. You should return to your father’s side, he must be worried sick,” she says as she waits for Leo to recover and take the swords.

She glances at the other teens who were surprisingly well-behaved throughout her one-sided attack. But she freezes when she sees Raph and Mikey smiling.

And much to her dismay, Mikey jumps where he stands as he exclaims, “You have a sister?!”

Raph shakes his head as he says, “You should have told us in the beginning we were saving you sister! Raph would’ve been on board!”

Donnie turns his phone over to show his screen as he says, “Confirmed by Draxum that there was a sixth.”

Frida’s blood freezes. She made a mistake. No. Fuck. No.

She turns her attention back to Leo who is massaging his plastron nonchalantly. He’s smirking—no, smiling. He’s smiling as if he had won. What did he win?

“I told you guys it was a sibling! I knew it all along—you guys owe me a stack of comics!” Leo vocally jabs as he—struggles but—gets to his feet. He accepts his swords back and sheathes them on his back before rushing over to his brothers.

“We have two more sisters!” Mikey exclaims happily.

Donnie groans, “We hardly have enough room for all of us. We’re not moving again, are we?”

Mikey gasps as he grabs Raph, “What if we get bunk beds?”

Leo laughs and throws his arm over Mikey’s shoulders, “We’ll just grab another old subway car, easy peasy.”

Raph nods, “Raph remembers there were some we left behind when we first moved in. Trust Raph can get them—like a boss!”

“What…?” Frida asks under her breath. What had she done? What did she do? Why are they celebrating?

Leo is ever-so nonchalant, despite his brush with a supposed death. He cocks his head side-to-side as he mocks speaking with his hand, “Request, request, request. Yadda yadda yadda, we’re not so stupid to accept your request without asking what we were getting ourselves into.”

Donnie leans sideways to mumble aloud, “But we did.”

Leo shoves Donnie’s face aside as he corrects, “But we didn’t.” He clears his throat and adds, “I mean, sure, you seem nice and all but we were suspicious. So we just wanted to know how important this was to you. You know, test the waters.”

Frida seethes, annoyance growing within her as she curses her own mistake. “Explain.”

The slider shoots a finger gun as he explains, “We weren’t going to go on crazy journey in another dimension to save someone who could have been just as bad as you. That would be crazy. I mean, you don’t scream ‘friendly’. So we just pushed your buttons a little, because you weren’t going to tell us who we’re saving.”

Raph triumphantly nods as he adds, “And we also waited for our text to get through to Draxum.”

Donnie waves his phone to chime in, “Which was obviously done by me. You’re welcome.”

Mikey jumps at Frida with arms wide open, aiming for a large hug as he exclaims, “And now we know!”

Frida side steps with an arm outstretched to stop Mikey by his head. She tries not to let out a sound as she scowls at Mikey’s display of affection. She thinks back to every step back, every stupid mistake they made, every circle they rounded. She recalls every stupid call Leo had made, including the most recent that she never would have believed even Leo to do.

And then she realizes how easily she was played.

She’s almost impressed. Almost. And she would be, if she weren’t so reminded how similar he is to Big Mama…

1. If Leo/Donnie lost their twin (like Draxum did) (and didn’t have April growing up) would they have followed a similar path as Draxum? Did Draxum recognize anything faintly alike in the twins that he and his sister shared/did/had as well, or does that go too hard against his son-fantasies?

2. What was your favorite scene in Third from the Son?

1. At this point in the story, if Leo were to meet Gale right now, on the street (highly unlikely but if he were to) would he try to kidnap him? Or would he follow through with his current way and only talk to/actively avoid Gale? - Leo did nearly get him killed, I do imagine Gale does hate him deeply. But at the same time, I didn‘t get the feeling that Gale harbors any revenge fantasies/a particular rage for Leo rn… probably mostly because he has other problems rn

Angel was on my boobs getting pet when I read this lol. Then he went over to beep at my mom while she was reading a book. She thought he wanted to read with her. (he actually wanted her chocolate kisses, which he did not get because he is a bird)

1-If they had lost their twin really young, probably not. It would have still colored a lot of their development and stayed with them for the rest of their lives, but unless it was particularly violent or something (like one twin witnessing the other getting beaten to death by a mob of racist humans) I don't see it shaping their worldview too much.

If it happened now, I don't think they'd strictly go genocidal-but they'd wrap a lot of themselves into destroying whatever it was that killed their twin. If Draxum had killed Donnie after he refused to join him and then started his army, Leo would lose himself in taking Draxum down. By the end of it he wouldn't be recognizable anymore. He wouldn't blame all Yokai, but he'd definitely do some morally fucked-up shit to objectively innocent people in his quest to destroy Draxum. I feel like that happened to some extent in the bad future after Donnie and Raph were killed by the Krang.

1.5-Draxum really hasn't spent enough time with Leo to form an opinion on that. The only thing he's really noticed is that the twins really look alike. That's no surprise, of course, they're biologically half-brothers and their human DNA is all carbon copies of each other's, they're not clones in the sense that they're perfect replicas of their DNA donor but they do all share the exact same grab bag of traits when it came to selecting their features. If anything, it's surprising that he got as much visual variance as he did. But he has noticed that Leo and Donnie look more like each other than they do Raph or Mikey, or Mikey to Raph. Just in terms of body type and facial features, they're the ones who look the most like Lou Jitsu.

And Draxum has a-weird relationship with his image of Lou Jitsu. He does a lot of compartmentalizing, for one, he knows that Splinter and Lou Jitsu are the same person but they are very separated in his mind. He likes to think of Galois as his and Lou Jitsu's son and the other boys as Splinter's children. He knows this doesn't make sense. But he spent thirteen years assuming that Lou Jitsu and the turtles died shortly after escaping his lab, and when he found out the turtles were still alive he assumed that Lou must have died of his injuries and a human or Yokai had found and adopted them. The groundwork was already there, so it wasn't necessarily too much mental gymnastics to just go on thinking of the person who raised the turtles as a completely unrelated interloper into his family.

All this to say, Draxum has a weird way of dealing with the fact that his beloved son is also the child of the person he loathes most in the world and is completely in love with at the same time. He hadn't decided exactly what the cover story he would tell Galois would be, but before Gale said that he knew Splinter was Lou Jitsu he was leaning more towards telling him that Lou Jitsu was the corpse he took Gale's human DNA from and that the rat was just some loser pretending to be him. So it's very uncomfortable, with Gale looking like Lou Jitsu and also knowing that Lou Jitsu is the rat, meanwhile Leo is here looking for all the world like Gale's long-lost twin brother. (part of his guilt over hurting Leo might actually be the fact that Leo looks so much like his son, so it's easier to visualize Gale in his place-he does genuinely feel bad for other reasons, but that could be one)

Thankfully Donnie and Raph were never super close, so other than their combined 'fuck it, we ball' attitude-which Draxum hasn't seen much of from Raph because he's still trying to be a polite young man-there hasn't been many similarities to raise Gale's suspicions or bother Draxum.

2-Despite not giving myself a ton of time to work on them, I think the last two chapters came out pretty well. The reverse-kidnapping attempt from Gale's POV, the chapter where everyone finds out about the Mikey-Galois library trips, and Draxum and Leo's fight on the roof are also ones I really like how they turned out. And a little understated, the chapter where Draxum has to take care of a sick Galois was something I really wanted to show despite really not being important to the plot.

3-I'd say at this particular moment, he'd either pretend not to see him or would try to ask about Raph and make sure he's okay. He's accepted that the reverse-kidnapping attempts did more harm than good and are not going to work, and he can't go with his back-up plan of surrendering himself to Draxum and leave his dad with just Mikey. He's hoping Raph has his own plan, and Leo's meddling could only work against him.

But that's also right now. That answer might change if Draxum was winning or losing the war to a great extent. The former because "dude so many people are dead because I let that sheep use my brother," the latter because anyone in Draxum's party when he loses is going to lose their head in a very literal manner. He might trust Raph, but if it looks like they're going to be executed for Draxum's bullshit he is definitely going to intervene.

I would also like you to know that Angel is gay and loves men. Whenever our landlord is over Angel goes wild over him. (landlords also have a preteen daughter who loves Angel, but of course he could care less about her) He's still not quite sure about my sister's boyfriend but I think he'll soon want to sit exclusively on boyfriend's shoulder when he's over. We're not entirely sure if his mate was female, she whistled like a boy and they never did the dirty bird, so possibly they were just gay birds. This terrorist is a walking diversity win.

TMNT 2012: Father Splinter

LEAVE! SPLINTER! ALONE!

I have been reading these fanficts lately and the hate towards 2012 Splinter involving his love for his children...made me mad. I keep seeing things, like,

"Oh, Splinter favorited Leo and did not care about the rest of them."

Or

"He made Raphael feel so unloved and treated him so hard."

Or

"He loves Karai more than them because she is his bio daughter."

Or!

"Splinter does not care about Karai because he did not raise her."

Are you kidding me? None of this is true! Splinter 2012 is the best dad and sensei, and those who disagree, can fight me on it.

It is so obvious that Splinter loves and cares for his children, equally! He would die for them, he literally, died for them and did everything for them!

He never had a favorite. He never made Raph feel unloved. He does not love Karai more, but he does have a soft spot, like every father has with their daughters. And he does love and care about Karai, as much as his sons, he gets deeply depressed every time something happens to her.

I am going to explain the relationship with each of Splinter's children. Starting with, who everyone thinks is Splinter's favorite...

Hamato Leonardo!

This is very common, and I can kind of understand why you guys think Splinter favorited Leonardo and loved him more, because they spent the most time together and had a deep trust for each other but...no. That theory is far off.

From the start, it was obvious that Leo was an 100% Papa's boy. He respected and idolized Splinter so much, and as for Splinter, it was clear that he put most trust into his eldest son, more than the others but not because he favorited him, because he knew Leo would always watch out for his younger brothers.

Which brings me to, why I think, Splinter and Leo are actually close.

As we all know, Splinter reluctantly allowed the boys to go on the surface, after they guilt tripped him into doing so and after Donnie told him about April, with a heavy heart, he allowed his sons to save her, despite wanting them to stay in the sewers another year.

He chose Leonardo as leader without hesitation but in reality, it was a tough choice to make. The reason it seemed so quick, was because, well Splinter said it himself, he had already decided on it when Leo was much younger.

Leo does have qualities of a good leader. He is responsible, skilled, merciful, fearless, caring, can do well under pressure, and most of all...he is selfless.

Being Leader comes with a heavy burden, Splinter understands and knows that well, it is the one thing that Splinter and Leo have in common.

Being Leader is not an easy job, it is a stressful life and a dangerous one. One move, one decision, and the whole mission could fail, and Leo's brothers could get hurt.

His whole childhood, Leo's only mission was to look out for his younger brothers. When you are a single parent, like Splinter, usually the eldest helps out, taking a bit of a parenting role.

(Mostly, a mom. lol. "What kind of trouble could they get into?" Leo mocked Raph when he tried to get Leo not to worry about Mikey and Casey.)

Despite being fearless, Leo obviously worries about his younger brothers as well as his father often. Those worries no doubt spiked when he became Leader and saw how dangerous real missions are.

Leo no doubt had a lot of self-doubt and fears of losing his brothers, at failing them. Failure is not something Leo is used to, it was never an option for him because in his young mind, he convinced himself that he has to always be perfect. The perfect son, the perfect brother and the perfect leader.

When in reality, perfect is not a reality, only a wish that everyone has but never achieve. Splinter tried to dig that into Leo's stubborn head. That there are no wrong choices, just choices and some things are just out of one's control.

Leo was so determined to be the best leader he imagines himself to be that he did not listen at first but to Splinter and his brothers, he already was the best. Leo just could not see that himself.

As much as Splinter did not want him to be too overconfident, he did not want his son to be too hard on himself either. Yes, Leo still has much to learn, that is why Splinter is always training alone with him, because he needs to teach his son how to lead.

He constantly has to be a guide for Leonardo, until he was able to do it himself. As mature as Leo was, he was still a child, and Splinter wished he would have stayed that way, him and his brothers, but fate had other plans and now, Splinter must prepare them for the worst of the worst.

The first time that Leo complains about his role and how he feels like his brothers does not respect them, Splinter understands but he also needs to make Leo understand that respect, is not something one gets, it is earned, and it is not something any self-respected leader, should act immature about.

Splinter agrees that his brothers should respect Leo more, but he also understands that his brothers do not mean any harm and are just arrogant with the burden their eldest brother carries. That is until Raphael step into his shoes and saw for himself.

Though Splinter did not like that Leo handed over his role to his second son, it was probably the best choice to get Raph to realize why Leo is leader, why Splinter chose him, and understand the pressure that his brother is always under.

So, Splinter is not giving Leo special attention, he is just preparing him and helping him with his role as leader, until he was grown enough to handle it fully on his own.

Leo can talk to Splinter about anything. There are never any secrets. (Except if he does something that he thinks Splinter would not be too happy about)

Leo also tries to know what is in his father's head, wanting to help him and make sure he is happy but Splinter, being too prideful, always has to be pushed in order to do so.

He held on to a painful heavy secret about finding out that Karai is his daughter Miwa for a long time, until Leo finally begged Splinter to trust him and to open up.

Splinter did because he did not want to make Leo feel like he did not trust him and he knew, Leo would not go tell his brothers, if Splinter did not wish him to.

Despite being a bad liar, Leo knew how to keep secrets. But after a while, he advice that Splinter tell the others.

So, I believe, while Splinter is constantly keeping an eye on Leo and is his guide, Leo is Splinter's voice of reason. Leo always seems to know what to say or what to do, to get Splinter to listen and not act so stubbornly (Which no doubt took years of practice, judging by how Splinter is stubborn as hell)

Examples:

"Sensei, we know you're trying to protect us, but we can't spend are whole lives hiding down here."

"Remember who you are! Hamato Yoshi!"

"Please, Sensei, tell me, trust me."

"I told you; he is too powerful! Even for me..."

"But Master Splinter, if the one time we could use your help, it's now."

So while Leo is constantly depending on his father to help him make the right choices with his leadership, Leo is also making sure that Splinter is not thinking too stubbornly or rashly.

Despite Leo never purposely disobeying Splinter or going against his word, there were a few times when the two disagreed on something and when Leo claimed his father, all wise Splinter, was wrong.

Especially when it involved Karai.

Leo wanted nothing more than to help his sister and to save her from Shredder. Leo cared about Karai, despite everything she did, he knew it was not her fault.

The other brothers at first did not agree with him, still mad at Karai for everything she has ever done to them but they slowly realized their wrongs and was willing to help.

Splinter, however, was not. Not when Shredder could kill all five of them in an instant.

"Isn't it worth it to save your own daughter?" Leo tried to convince him and it had hurt Splinter, but still, losing all of his children, was too great of a risk. "I am not willing to risk your lives or my daughter's!"

Though Leo had agreed not to, he went anyway, showing that Leo was slowly growing into his own leader. (Proud of you Leo for that bit of rebellion:) )

Leo slowly but surely, started to let go of his father always holding his hand, and started to make decisions on his own without his father's advice or guidance or permission and Splinter...slowly started to let them go.

Splinter his always going to be Leo's greatest hero. Since Leo was young, he has always tried to be like his father (And Captain Ryan), to be wise and strong like him, but Leo is not like Splinter.

I believe Splinter was flattered that his eldest wanted to be like him but at the same time, I believe he did not want him to. He wanted Leo to be himself and find his own way.

As much as Splinter hated it when his children did not listen or disobeyed, he also knew that young one's must discover their own way, make their own mistakes and find out who they are.

That is why Splinter told Leo to follow his heart.

Though Leo is always going carry his father's lessons in his heart, he has learned to be his own leader and to make his own decisions.

And Splinter, is very proud of the young leader he became and knew he would be fine, as long as he had his brothers and friends, he would be fine without him there to watch over him.

In conclusion, Splinter and Leo, have an open, honest, father and son relationship. It is not that Leo is the 'favorite', he just admires his father so much and Splinter is always just trying to help Leo.

And you know what, some siblings are just closer with their parents than others, does not necessarily mean that they are the favorite.

In Defence of Leorai

I know there have been a lot of these posts since forever blah blah blah but I wanted to put down my own thoughts and I've never quite 100% vibed with other people's opinions. So a question I've seen come up multiple times is 'Is Leorai incest?'

tl;dr I don't think so.

Disclaimer: I haven't watched this show in a long time and I stopped just before the final season.

Here we go.

Are they biologically related? No. I've never bought a turtle at a pet store, but I don't think you go in, go to a tank, take out the turtles you want, carry them to the self-check out and then carry them home in your hands or pocket or recyclable bag or whatever. The shop staff would have been the last to touch them, and Splinter would have touched them maybe AFTER he got home. With small turtles, you don't handle them UNLESS it's absolutely necessary as it can stress them and stuff. Splinter not being the last to touch them is backed up by the fact that the turtles (except maybe Don) don't share physical similarities with Splinter. Splinter is Japanese and Leo and Mikey have blue eyes (plus the latter has freckles). I don't know whether during mutation if they even transfer DNA or if the ooze just evolves the creature based on what they last came into contact with, or if they're still mostly their turtle DNA or whatever, but I don't think they'd share enough similarities/DNA to be considered biologically related either way. And you know what? That's okay. He's just as much the turtles' father as if he was biologically related to them. Pushing for them to be biologically related (father-son) when it's extremely unlikely seems in bad taste to me. Also Karai and Leo are very different species. Splinter and Karai and Leo all mutated with different animals.

Are they adoptive siblings? Not... really? Only Leonardo was raised by Splinter, and he met Karai before they knew their connections to Splinter. Afterwards, Karai acknowledges that Splinter is her father, but for me it seems like more of a title to her. Splinter is more emotionally/psychologically family to April and Casey and the turtles than he is to Karai imo and she doesn't really try bonding as a family with everyone. He doesn't raise her at all beyond when she was a baby (which she can't remember), then he goes and dies rip. Oh and the fact that Leorai still flirt after the reveal (I'll get into that more in the next paragraph). Karai and Leo do not think of or see each other as siblings. Leonardo refers to Karai as Splinter's daughter but never as his sister. They were never raised together. They were not brought up together as a family. Yes Karai is referred to as family at times, but so are April and Casey and the TCRI cannister. Splinter is their father in different ways, in a way that they don't see each other as siblings. Is it still weird? Yeah. But TMNT 2012's writing gets pretty weird at times.

EDIT: I've seen a vague about this post about how they're like cousins because Shredder and Splinter grew up like brothers. My response: the turtles do not see Shredder as their uncle. Karai doesn't see Splinter as her uncle. The turtles and Karai do not see each other as cousins.

Finally, this is a kids show. Nickelodeon would not have continued pairing them and giving hints to them crushing on each other after the reveal if they were meant to be seen as siblings. Literally a few months ago, the official TMNT channel uploaded a 44 minute video of their 'best' moments with blue and black hearts in the YT title and a V-day short. I've seen people say Leo backed off her/lost interest after the reveal (not that he was ever pushing her for a romantic relationship?? They're crushing on each other but I see it as a slowburn). I think he was being respectful as she had just had her life flipped up upside down. Now wasn't the time to rizz her. Almost every other ship feels rushed and very instalovey while Leorai involves the characters being like. not weird about it. Dorky and cute. Funnily enough. TMNT 2012 does some things well but it really is a case of the show's focus on shipping characters dragging the show down (ESPECIALLY DON/APRIL/CASEY). Shipping culture, amirite?

My point about it being a kids show applies to Raphmona. I don't ship it but I've seen people argue that Mona is an adult so it's wrong. I think the simple explanation is that the show handled them and their writing clumsily too in this regard. I don't think if Mona was an adult that they'd be paired in the show. It's just not thought through well and kinda unclear but I can see people being uncomfortable with it.

If the ship makes you uncomfortable, whether it's for personal reasons or you're just not vibing, that's OK. If you personally see it as incestual, that's valid. But going around saying Leorai shippers all like or support incest is not true and there are many valid readings where they're not incestual even if you disagree with me. Some shippers probably do like incest, but then so do many non-Leorai shippers.

Yoshi (Splinter) is from the hidden city, when he turned 25 he went to explore the world above. He gets himself into shit, finds a bunch of baby turtles with goop on them, and becomes a father (btw, bro comes from a pretty shitty household full of generational trauma).

He runs away to raise the turtles, and ends up finding a nice little space in the sewers, to which he builds them a home.

Donnie and Raph are twins both 16 with an hour age difference, Leo is the middle child at 15 and Mikey is the youngest at 14. Casey is a 16 year old transgender bitch and April is a 17 year old Girlflux KRAANG hybrid thing. O’neils mother really just banged a mushy alien thing that can shape-shift into anything in the universe.

They also play baseball. They moved from Michigan when she was 13. She's into filming, journalism and photography.

You actually tried hiding your daughter from him for a little bit until he found out. It’s not that you were ashamed of your daughter, no, it’s just there was never a right time to tell him. And a part of you feared if you did tell him he’ll leave like the others.

Until he came to your place unexpectedly dressed causally with a bouquet of flowers. He come over to take you on a surprise little date. So when you opened the door you slammed it right in his face when you realized it was him. You decided to get this over with and just tell him now and bear the heartbreak later on. So you opened the door revealing a very stunned and confused Manjiro.

“Mikey what are you doing here?”

“I came to take you on a surprise date!”

“Oh mikey about that, I can’t g-“

“Mommy look what I drew-who’s that?!”

Cats out of the bag now and you can’t hide it anymore.

Crouching down to your daughters eye level and introducing himself as your lover made your heart flutter as you also watched your daughter introduced herself.

Unlike Mikey he did see himself having children. With Emma to be specific up until to the point where she died those thoughts have died down in his mind. Until he meet you. Although he didn’t expect to be raising a kid with you that soon. But it was a surprise to him when he did find out about your son.

You never told him. In fact you don’t think you ever thought about telling him. But you told him casually as Draken himself looked over your shoulder his eyes glancing at your phone as you unlocked it. He couldn’t help but glance at your Lock Screen picture.

“Is that your nephew?”

“No that’s my son”

“Oh-wait you have a kid?”

You were expecting him to yell at you for not telling him on the first day, but he didn’t which surprised you. You explain that your child was from a previous relationship from the man you had though loved you back but you were wrong, and went I to further details about how your ex treated you and your son .

Draken can only sit back and listen as your on the verge of tears. Listening as you explain everything.

The first time he meet your son was awkward. He doesn’t know how to deal with kids. Even though he took care of a man child for most of his life 7-7. He tries his best to get along with the little boy. Almost acting like it’s his own in the process.

And that’s what he does, when your busy with work/school he’ll watch your son for you so you don’t have to pay extra for a babysitter. He’s gone as far as leaving his bike shop to one of his co-workers as he leave to take care of your son.

“Oí kid. Make sure you put the helmet on tightly wouldn’t want ya getting a concussion”

“But wouldn’t my mom be mad if she found out you were teaching me how to ride a motorcycle?”

“Well yeah but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her right?”

You have never felt so much love as Draken made both you and your son feel. That he’ll love your kids just as if it was his very own.

And all you could do as mumble a small little thank you to him as you laid on top of his on the couch after a long day at work/school. Knowing that when you wake up you be in your bed and fine your son and Draken in the kitchen making breakfast. Like a normal family

Random Into The Neon Rambles (Angsty 2012 Universe Stuff. I mean seriously sad, I cried writing it.)

So I've had the WORST brain fog lately (we keep intending to get a Covid test but it's been over a week and a half now since my breathing became like Just Swam Up From The Bottom Of The Pool But That All The Time and it still hasn't happened yet so IDK at this point, it's dependent on the cleaning schedules) and haven't been able to write SHIT so here's some completely word-vomit rambles about this AU.

April and Casey are still alive in the 2012 universe, but of course the boys died at 19 and I headcanon that they turned 19 in Season 4 and were 19 through all of Season 5 so that means Splinter is dead. The Mutanimals actually moved into the lair and take very good care of it, they set up a memorial to the boys right beside the one for Splinter. April and Casey see them often, Leatherhead took over the main care of Ice Cream Kitty, and they're all trying to get by. April's dad has his hands full these days, trying to be a grief counselor for all of them, and it's difficult because it's not his specialty. At this point he's always on the lookout for therapists and psychiatrists who are either mutant-friendly or, more ideally, mutants themselves.

There's actually quite a bit of focus now on finding and helping other mutants. The reason for the boys deaths was kind of the last Big Thing to happen, so there's not a lot of combat to do in the years following. The occasional alien issue, but April has been practicing and growing her powers with a focus that Casey likes to think is her way of honoring the turtles, specifically Leo and Donnie really, and The Mutanimals have been too.

The boys were alone together when they died. Partly by their own design, making sure no-one else got hurt... or worse.

They knew there was a strong chance they wouldn't make it out this time.

So Earth is well-protected by a powerful, grieving telekenetic/psychic/empath/ninja/general badass alongside a group of kick-ass mutant, a grieving Salamadarian soldier who keeps Raph's mask on her whenever she patrols, a grieving basically-son who's like 10 feet tall and can crush practically any enemy with his mace, a grieving best friend who's determined to carry both Mikey's kindness and ferocity with him always, a grieving teen who just lost some of the first people to truly help him after being kicked out for his mutation, and of course, a grieving big sister who lost her brothers the same way she lost her father and mother: before she could truly know them.

Yes, Karai knew the boys for a few years. But she never knew them outside of War. She never knew them in casual settings, she never even thought to try when they were alive. Now not only are they gone, but the last people who knew her father are, too. April tries to share stories of Splinter, but she can't tell Karai what he was like on birthdays. She can't tell her what he was like as a father, not just to teens, but through childhoods. Karai lost the last of her family before she could even fully appreciate finding them. She's trying, now. She helps a lot with the efforts to find and help mutants who have nowhere else to go. She takes a lot of them into her reformed Foot Clan, trains them to be able to defend themselves, and uses the vast network of international resources for anything that can help. She does it in remembrance of her father, who raised four little mutants as his sons, and those four sons, who accepted her and loved her even after she did horrible things to them more than once, who showed her there was a way beyond The Shredder's and helped her to be free of him.

April tries to find them sometimes. She never learned that kind of thing from Splinter, and her powers actually make it harder to connect to the spirit world sometimes. It's a different energy, one she isn't used to, and she has no teacher. She's felt, at most, a comforting presence, the faintest tough of a familiar paw, but nothing from the boys themselves. She can only hope that Splinter's assurance means they're okay, wherever they are in the universe.

Ice Cream Kitty was very confused for a while. She would yowl and yowl for Mikey. She would climb out of the freezer and drag herself to his room to look for him. At some point they put Mikey's mask in there with her, and a few of his comics. It helped.

They could all tell when she understood. That day, instead of finding her in his room after she escaped, she dragged herself to April in the dojo and meowed sadly until April held her. April cried. Ice Cream Kitty didn't make a peep. April felt the sadness of the kitty more strongly than the cold or stickiness of the ice cream in her arms.

It's been less time for them. The boys are 10 at this point in Into The Neon, for them it's been half the time. 5 years. April is in college, community college. She's not sure what she wants to go into. She thought biomedical for a while, but she kept wanting to ask Donnie for help when she got stuck.

She dropped the class.

Casey is mostly working with The Mutanimals. Leatherhead actually keeps trying to get him to take a break from it, concerned about how much he throws himself into battle. Casey is working on it. He had a breakthrough recently. He has Survivor's Guilt. The boys told him and April to go and convince any stragglers to evacuate, and they did. He wished he'd stayed. He knows he couldn't have stopped what happened, but his last interaction with any of them was a quick nod and a 'Got it.'

He believed they'd come back. Really. He knows April didn't, and tried to assure her. "Those guys are unkillable," he'd said. "If space aliens and Super Shredders couldn't get them, nothin' can!"

He remembers falling to his knees when they came back to the wreckage and saying "Just had to prove me wrong, didn't you?" It was the hollowest he'd ever felt, and he doesn't really remember the words like they came from him. He just remembers hearing them in his voice, distant and far away while he waited for someone to move, cough, shout at him to help them up already, anything.

They were buried on the farm, of course, next to their father. Doctor Cluckingsworth actually protects the graves from the other chickens, and when the others come to visit she usually comes by with some flowers she picked for them. She really only knew Mikey very well, but Mikey loved his brothers, and she remembers that.

The worst part was how peaceful everything became after. April was so angry that they didn't get to see it. That she's living in a world where, slowly, mutants are more able to be known and exist, where there's not a constant threat, where there's chances for harmless fun and just being happy, and they can't be there for it. When they announced a live-action reboot of Crognard she blew up the TV without even meaning to. She just saw it and thought 'I gotta tell Mikey' and then it was obliterated and she was sobbing in her dad's arms.

Casey actually does have something he's considering. He's been the one trying to keep the old vehicles in shape, and he thinks maybe he could be a mechanic or some kind of engineer. He thinks Donnie would laugh about the engineer thing because of all the math that takes, but he's gotten better at it. He has to use Donnie's old blueprints a lot to make sure he's not breaking The Shellraizer or The Party Wagon or the go-karts or anything else while trying to repair it, and you can't really pour over Donnie's stuff and work on the same things without absorbing a little. He's not a whiz by any means, can't do even a quarter what Donnie could, but they work together well. He remembers that every time he repairs a new hole Slash made by accident, or something Mondo accidentally ripped our with his tail while skating past, or anything like that. He remembers working on the hot rod in the barn with Donnie and wishes they made more wild things with each other instead of fighting all the time. He liked that Donnie matched his energy, could go toe-to-toe with him, that they could get into awful fights and rip each other apart verbally and it didn't really matter to either of them. He liked Raph for the same reason. And he liked Leo because he seemed all calm and cool but you could stoke a real fire out of him, and he liked Mikey for a similar reason-

He cries a lot while he's doing these repairs. It's a safe place to do it, and if any of the others have noticed (they have) they don't mention it. They never interrupt him, though he knows April is keeping a psychic eye on him most of the time. Whatever. He's keeping a (regular) eye on her all the time too. At least when he cries over their lost friends, it doesn't have a chance of rattling half the city like they're sitting on a fault line.

Chompy still refuses to fall asleep unless Mona is holding him and she has Raph's mask out. Chompy snuggled his face against it. Slash watches him when Mona can't, because for a while they were deeply worried about the little guy. He was depressed without Raph, and he got sick. It took a lot of patience and care to get him to the other side of that, and the two of them basically made it their whole purpose in life to keep Chompy going. For Raph.

Everyone's trying their best, all for the sake of the boys. For their memories.

They're having a hard time of it.

But they're trying.

Three years have passed since the day Baji died, and unfortunately for him, he couldn’t pass on. He was part of a world that didn’t know he existed. He was stuck in this home, the home he grew up in before he died, raised by his mother. He was forced to watch her cry for her late son, and it tore at his heart each time. It eventually got too much for her, so she ended up packing his and her stuff and moving away. This house has been empty for two years now. He was bored and lonely. The only people who came to visit the home were Chifuyu, Mikey, Draken, and Mitsuya. He and Chifuyu were so close that sometimes Chifuyu could feel his presence in the house, but he quickly stopped visiting once his mother sold the house.

Baji currently sat in his old room, on the floor, bored. There was nothing to do since he was bound to this house for whatever reason. Suddenly, he heard the front door open, and he perked up a bit. He got up and floated to the living room, to see a beautiful woman standing there with a suitcase. She was absolutely beautiful with (h/l) (h/c) hair, (skin tone) skin, and (e/c) eyes. 

You looked around before your eyes met his and you both just stared at each other. You were shocked, but you tried not to show it since the movers were still there. You averted your eyes, and Baji wondered if you could see him.

“Hey, can you see me?” He asked as you walked past him, you ignored him. You learned early in your life, if you ignored the ghosts, they would eventually leave you alone. You hoped he didn’t catch on that you both made eye contact. 

“Hey come on, please don’t ignore me… we made direct eye contact.” 

You mentally cursed just as the movers came in delivering the big stuff like your bed, and dressers. They nodded before going to bring in your office desks in the other room and you flopped down on the bed.

“Oi~”

You let a sigh out as he hovered over you. You could tell he was going to be an annoying one, even if he was kinda cute for a ghost. Considering you were used to old men or women ghosts. You got up, and Baji backed away, watching as you moved your bed to the corner of the room. 

After about three hours of organizing your room, office, and living room, you put all of your dishes away. That didn’t take long since it was only you, so you didn’t have to worry about it. The movers had long gone since left, and the ghost kept following you around. 

Finally finishing, you slumped onto the couch and sighed softly. You dialed your local takeout place and ordered (f/f). 

“Ugh, I am so tired!” You groaned and Baji huffed and shot you a look.

“Then go to sleep.”

“Can’t, got work to do…”

It was silent before Baji jumped up and pointed at you.

“HA I KNEW IT YOU CAN SEE AND HEAR ME!” 

“Shit!” you yelled and Baji leaned close to your face. 

“Why were you ignoring me?” He asked, and you backed away from his face. 

“Because I have no intentions of helping you.” 

“I wasn’t going to ask for help. Do you know how boring it is being stuck in this world and no one can see or hear you? You are the first person who I have talked to in three years.” 

“How old are you?” You asked, and Baji sat down next to you. 

“I am 18.”

“So, you died when you were 15?”

“Yeah, it’s a long story.”

“I see. Sorry to hear that. Must have been lonely.” 

“Yeah, which is why when we made eye contact, I had gotten excited that you could see me. Though you completely ignored my presence for like three or four hours.” 

“To be fair, can you blame me?” You asked, and he shook his head.

“No, but you won’t ignore me again, will you?”

“Kinda hard, now that you know I can see and talk to you…” 

He flashed you a grin, and you roll your eyes. You both fell quiet before you sighed softly. You laid your head on Baji’s arm and he flinched since he has had no form of contact in a long time.

“You can… touch me too?” 

“Yeah, but if you try to touch me, you will go through me.” 

“Well, that sucks, but how is any of this possible?” 

“Magic, always been able to do it.” 

“I see, well I will let you rest then. I don’t want to bother you.”

“Where was this courtesy earlier?” You asked, and he shot you a look. He attempted to push you, causing you to laugh. 

“Literally just said you can’t touch me…”

“Tsk, anyway, I will be the biggest annoyance to you. I will haunt you.” 

“Oo, so scary. My house is haunted. I am so scared because it’s not like I haven’t seen ghosts way scarier in my life.” 

“Ouch…” he mumbled, and you smiled. He smiled back, showing his canines. You sat up again and stretched as there was a knock on the door. You went to the door to grab your food and paid before locking the door again. 

Baji watched as you set the food on the kitchen table before he floated to you. He couldn’t help but feel like he wanted to be close to you. He didn’t want to admit it to himself, but he knew he was happy that he would finally have some interactions now. 

A few months had passed since you moved into the house. You and Baji were extremely close, and it had gotten to the point you invited his closest friend. Chifuyu Matsuno. At first, Chifuyu didn’t believe you until Baji told you everything about Chifuyu while Chifuyu stood in front of you. Now you and Chifuyu were close as well. You couldn’t help Chifuyu see Baji, but Chifuyu knew he was there with them. 

Baji had also developed a stupid crush on you. He knew it was pointless since he was dead and couldn’t have you. But it didn’t stop him from developing the crush. He wanted to tell you, but he knew it would end up with him getting hurt. 

Currently, you were laying in your bed beside Baji. You had fallen asleep while Baji was staring at the ceiling. He glanced over at you before turning onto his side. He reached up to touch your face, but his hand went through you. You shuddered slightly before holding the cover closer to you. He puffed his cheeks slightly, wanting to feel your skin against his. Being dead sucked, especially once he finally found someone that he just may love. 

He turned onto his back and looked at the ceiling again. He was so focused on his thoughts; he didn’t notice that you had woken up. You touched his arm gently, and he turned his head to you.

“What’s wrong?” You asked, and he shook his head.

“Nothing, did I wake you?” He asked, and you raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah, I felt a sudden chill. Assuming you tried to touch me.” 

“Sorry, sometimes I find it hard to believe I am actually dead and need to verify it.” He said, and you took his hand in yours. He glanced at both of your hands before looking at the ceiling again. 

“It sucks, you know?” He started, and you only listened because you didn’t know, only imagine.

“I finally found someone I think I am in love with, but… I am dead.” He mumbled, and you tilted your head, slightly confused. He avoided looking at you before he continued to speak.

“I like you so much, yet I can’t do anything about it… ugh, this fucking sucks!” He huffed, and you sat up looking at him.

“You… like me?” 

“Yeah, I do. I understand if you don’t feel the same, I just had to get it off of my chest.” 

“I do too, like you, I mean. But unfortunately, we can’t do anything about it…” you mumbled, and he nodded. You both fell quiet, and he looked over at you. He looked at your lips, knowing he wouldn’t feel anything. But it didn’t stop him from wanting to try. You knew what he wanted, so you leaned over and placed a quick kiss on his lips. He blinked several times, it only feels like wind or a gentle pressure applying to his lips. Nothing else, but he still loved it. You smiled and looked away before laying back down. 

“I guess we will just have to suck it up. I would say I will wait until we can be together. But you better not join me anytime soon.” He cracked a small joke and you laugh. 

“Don’t worry, I don’t wanna die soon. Maybe in our next lives or new timeline, we will find each other again.”

“Hmm~ I hope so…” 

~Alternate Timeline~

Baji was helping Chifuyu, and Kazutora cleans the pet store. It had been a crazy day, and the three of them were exhausted. They hoped that no new customers would come in. Unfortunately, the three of them heard the door chime in. They tried not to sigh as they turned to you. But Baji ended up freezing as you looked around.

“Hi~ I am sorry. Are you guys closing?” You asked, confused, and they shook their head. 

“No, how can we help?” Chifuyu asked. 

“I am just needing some pet food. I will be quick. I promise.”

“No~ I mean… sorry…” Baji blurted out but slowly felt his ears turn red. Chifuyu and Kazutora looked at him weirdly, before at you. You were staring at Baji, confused, before biting your lip. 

“I am sorry, I don’t know ~,”

“Do I know you?” You asked, and he blinked.

“I don’t know, maybe?” He asked, not too sure.

“You guys don’t know if you guys know each other?” Kazutora asked.

“I don’t… know. I know that I should probably ask for your number, though. For some reason, I don’t want you to leave.” Baji mumbled. Chifuyu and Kazutora shared a look, and you laughed softly. 

“I feel like I should give it because I don’t want to leave either…” 

“Maybe we can go for coffee?” 

“I would love that.” 

You grabbed the cat food, and Kazutora rang you up, and you paid. Baji gave you his number, and when you took it, your hands brushed against each other. 

“I will call you…” you said with a blush and he smile.

“Look forward to it.” 

You left after waving and Baji watched you leave.

“Dude, what was that?” Chifuyu asked, and Baji shrugged.

“I swear I know her from somewhere…”

So I have this head cannon about Casey Jones Jr and Donnie

Edit: Don has prosthetics that he got at different points in Caseys life. Both legs when he was 7. A arm when he was 10. He only really went on the most dangerous missions cause they involved Krang ships directly

So. Donnie’s specialty is defence. So he needs to stay back most of the time but he does most of his fight with drones. He is the only one that spends more then a few days at the base. Only leaving once in awhile when a mission involves a lot of tech.

Cue Cassandra tasking him with also caring for Jr. She doesn’t trust many and she trusts him and his family. Cause they are her family.

So he has this infant that he basically raises. She’s gone a lot. They all make jokes about how he’s such a dad. Raph and Mikey think it’s adorable. Leo sees it as blackmail material for how Donnie almost cried when Jr started walking.

Jr even started calling him Dad. He tried discouraging it. He didn’t know where Jr learned to (Leo just to mess with him). Cass wasn’t sure how she felt about it. At one point Don wasn’t his dad. But on the other. Splinter wasn’t hers. But he was. One night she’s exhausted and Jr won’t stop crying cause he was teething. So she brings him to Donnie going “when he can’t stop crying. Your his dad. Make him stop”.

Shelldon 2.0 is best big brother and is AI that helps run the place.

He makes soothers while he’s almost crying. By now everyone has accepted he’s a dad. (Boogie woogie woogie). His Bros and April are uncles and auntys and Splinter is a Grandpa.

As Jr grows Don starts teaching his Son™️ about tech. Jr is like a natural. More “no these aren’t tears Leon. My eyes are leaking blinker fluid”

Raph dies when Jr was 4. He doesn’t really remember him. Anymore but he spent weeks after asking for him cause he didnt understand death yet. He inherited one of Raphs bear. And when it clicked Don spent hours holding him while quietly sobbing together.

He understood death when his mom died 2 years later. He rarely left Dons side. Terrified that if he did. He would loose him to.

Don made him his weapon to look like his moms with a mic of his own. Told Jr when he’s older he can show him how to fully trick it out. He never got the chance.

When Jr was 13 the krang found their base. Emergency protocols were set in place. A mass exact took place. Many didn’t make it out. One of their own leaked their plans to the krang in hopes of being allowed to survive. (They killed him anyway)

Jr was one of the ones who couldn’t make it out.

Donnie didn’t even think of leaving until Jr did. He found Jr facing some Krang. He took Jr and ran. All exits blocked. He went back to the lab and hid him. There was only room for Jr. Donnie went full out on the Krang. The parental mom lifts car mode activated.

The krang fought hard. But he fought harder. But there was so many of them. He got several down, he’s so hurt but he can’t stop. Leo and gang arrive. They are able to take down the last of them/scare them off.

“Great work Donnie! Donnie? DONNIE!” From Leo. He was hurt so bad he could barely move. His brothers and April run to him. He’s trying to reach where he hid Jr when he bursts out and books it to Don.

He collapses onto Don begging him “Please be okay Dad! Dad please! I can’t loose you”

Cue movie moment where Don smiles a genuine smile while he caresses Jrs face. Hand and smile Drop. Gravity kicks in and his head Lulls in the opposite direction.

He clings to Leo and the others from then on. They continue his training and he continues his Dads work of doing the tech Defence. Shelldon helps.

Leo eventually becomes his main teacher and he shifts from calling him Uncle to Sensei. He takes it upon himself to raise his twins Son. He and Mikey do everything to keep him safe. EVERYTHING.

Cue being in the past. It’s not till after the krang are defeated they start asking more questions. And he meets his young Mom. They learn that Don was his dad. He and Cass look at each other and he just goes “not the worst person to co parent with”

Splinter makes a joke how he’s so calm when raised by his two chaotic children (yes he counted Cass. To him April and Cass are his daughters)

Casey Jones Jr is happy to see them safe and okay. But part of him will miss his family. And find it weird how his family is becoming a extension of his family.

Either way. Mission accomplished for the future Mad Dogs. Casey is safe and happy(ish)

as someone who struggles with emotional regulation, the way Raph is written in 2003 tmnt is so therapeutic to see because even with his anger she’s still a very caring person

(her anger is so well handled by splinter too, makes me wish I got raised by 03 Splinter)

in Meet Casey Jones his “WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?” hits painfully close to home, especially with her running off and the whole scene where he lashes out at mikey is so realistic because raph doesn’t really want to hurt her sibling, but taunted like that he just loses it. it’s really Mikey’s fault for taunting him like that but Raph seriously sounds like she’s about to cry as he realizes what she’s doing. the distress feels so genuine

and when his anger is fueled by overwhelm too, like when the daimyo’s son challenges leo. Raph is confused as to what’s happening and worried as to what could happen to leo. she wants to rush in to help his brother but he’s not allowed, and the fact she has to stand there and let it happen is so scary

vulnerability is so hard for her but yet it wants to come out all the time, he feels emotions very strongly, but in the attempt to hide it and keep from breaking down it all comes out as anger.

Leo almost dies and at first raph is closed off, she doesn’t want to tell a story about a fond memory of him to try to wake him up like everyone else has, but it spills out anyway, raph’s a mess because she’s so overwhelmed. and it’s not just anger this time, after telling the story he’s crying and leaning on windows, she’s a wreck, and not an angry one.

as much as leo and raph fight raph cares SO MUCH for leo, the “fearless leader” isn’t even just a jab, raph actually believes it. but raph still reaches out at the farmhouse, not to make fun of him but to check on him and help him forge new swords, and even the small things like picking up the hammer for him and the little shoulder touch are little things so packed. when the daimyo’s son challenges leo. Raph is confused as to what’s happening and worried as to what could happen to leo. she wants to rush in to help his brother but he can’t, and the fact she has to stand there and let it happen is so scary

2003 tmnt does a really good job of writing multi dimensional characters and raph is so well done, she’s easily aggravated but even when he puts up the tough guy persona she feels bad when he goes too far, she doesn’t want to hurt people and he even tries to help Casey with HER anger issues

most medias make angry characters so flat. they’re usually just mean, but 2003 raph and even casey have so much there

raph can be a little mean sometimes but she doesn’t have a mean heart, that’s not who he is

I wanna say a bit neutral about F!Drax but i feel i can't; yes he created a baby as "replacement" in case CJ died along with everyone to create "hope" to the resistance leader to either keep fighting or keep surviving in what he said "one-sided war".

His internations are pure but even this has down side or negative in it such as:

1- he never told Leo because he would - as obviously anybody else - refuse to go with this project/experiment.

2- the child would be born but in cost of her childhood in case the whole "return to the past" didn't happen, Lou will be stuck in war zone with dead and zombies around and heartless, ruthless kraangs... Did he thought of that?

But on top of that, there's the main question "What if Leo didn't acknowledge her?" Like Draxum started when Splinter was around - from the fic - and kept going in a full year with many, many people dying: Splinter, raph, Donnie and now Mikey.

There's a chance if CJ - whom Leo sees as his kid - dies, what would happen if Leo finally raised the white flag and said Fuck it? That mean Lou's whole purpose of existence isn't gonna be there since the dad she should support and be his "hope" doesn't even consider her as his child at all.

And on top of that she had to endure so much in the apocalypse; needles that makes her cry, seizures after seizures (i bet it didn't happen once) and weakness + cold for days in her early stage... She may - or may not - remember when she grows up but there's a chance it wouldn't leave her with some uneasiness when she sees or take a needle in a while.

And this makes me feel a bit negative towards Draxum because; why not for F!Leo to pass away?! Like yeah, intension are pure - not good, pure - but who wants to survive in a fucking losing battle apocalypse?! Lost his family and have his son, if he lost him why staying on earth?! Why not join the family in the afterlife?? Creating the baby would put - mostly - negative outcome as F!Leo would feel forced to stay alive just for the baby, yes he would have good memories with her but it won't change the outcome of the war.

It's war not movie; they lost and Draxum admitted to it, many people died hamatos and non hamatos...

That's why am giving him 3/10

Dad Future! Leo Headcanons go!!!

FUCK YEAH HERE WE GO THEY’RE EVERYTHING TO ME!!!!!!

Casey was born to two moms, one of which being Cassandra (that girl is NOT attracted to men I’m sorry) and the other unknown, but they died very quickly. Leo was never planning to fill the gap his missing mother left behind, he was kind of like a distant uncle for the first year or so of Casey’s life.

But Casey was always by his side whether he liked it or not. Casey would fuss and cry until Leo took care of him, and he’d be 100% more cooperative if Leo was the one handling him. They were very bonded by Casey’s third birthday.

When Casey turned six, Cassandra officially asked Leo to be his caretaker if something were to happen to her. Leo was extremely taken aback that she asked him, but reasoned that since Raph and Splinter (the most qualified parents in his opinion) were already dead by that point, he would be the best option as their leader. Besides that, he genuinely loves Casey, and would do anything to protect him. So he accepts with Cassandra’s promise that she’ll stay alive as long as she can.

Cassandra dies three years later when Casey is nine. She dies protecting Casey and Leo from the Kraang, knowing that Casey’s best chance was with the turtles than with her. Leo then takes on the dad role very seriously

He begins training Casey when Casey is eleven! In the meantime, he’s really just raising Casey. He recruits Donnie and Mikey to help educate him in anyway they can, having impromptu lessons for reading and writing. He never really learns math and history is irrelevant since, well, every moment they live is history.

Leo gives Casey his first weapon, which is actually one of his twin katanas! He had already lost his mystic powers by then, so it was the same as any old sword. Unfortunately, Casey only holds onto it for about a year before it’s lost to the Kraang, which is when Donnie designs his hockey stick chainsaw thing

Casey drew Leo’s marks on his mask before they began training. He did it as a way to be closer to him, already identifying Leo as his dad at that point but wishing there could be any sort of resemblance between them. Mikey helped him do it as a surprise!

For Casey’s birthday, Leo goes out of his way to find any remains of sweets in the world. Even if it’s just a Twinkie, he tries his hardest to give him something nice for his birthdays. If he can’t find one, he’ll put all his focus into a nice gift instead, which is still limited but it’s how Casey got his cape.

Casey did the same for Leo and got him that blue scarf! He felt bad that he couldn’t find him something grander or more practical, but Leo loved it so much that’s why he wore it until the end.

Leo cuts Casey’s hair. He makes a point of doing this when he has the chance because he knows quality time is especially important to Casey, and wants to give him a sense of normalcy whenever he can. It doesn’t get to happen often, which is why Casey’s hair is much longer than it should be safety wise (you’re in an apocalypse dude your hair is gonna get in your face!!)

Leo tells Casey stories about their family, especially Raph. He sometimes wonders if Raph would’ve been a better parent to Casey, but Casey unknowingly comforts him by telling him he’s the best dad in the world.

They do acknowledge each other as father and son, but Casey slips into calling him his master in high stake situations to try and emotionally distance himself if they have to do something too dangerous. He doesn’t call him dad in the movie because he doesn’t want to acknowledge his dad died.

The picture of their family is actually shared between Leo and Casey. Leo keeps it for obvious reasons but Casey is welcomed to take it at any time to see his uncles/aunt/grandfather whenever he needs it. Casey has it the most when Donnie dies because Leo can’t bear to see his twin for too long, and Casey is terrified of forgetting him.

Leo sent Casey back in time to fix the Kraang mess, but he also did it to give him a second shot at life, which is why he didn’t go himself. He cared more about Casey getting to live out the rest of his life like a normal kid than redeeming himself for what he did as a teenager. This is also why he sacrificed himself, because he didn’t want anyone getting in the way of Casey’s escape.

IF IT IS ANY CONSOLATION TO ANYONE I think the future versions of the turtles get to pass on into a spiritual form like the rest of the Hamato ancestors (mystic shenanigans! I don’t see why Casey can stay in the fixed timeline but Future!Leo can’t be with his ancestors!)

So when all is said and done, Leo visits his son when things have calmed down, and gets to tell him he’s proud of him for everything. He spends most of Casey’s life in the background, but if Casey needs him, he’ll always be there for him.

Timestamp - New York City's Apocalyptic Future

- 3 years after Cassandra Jones', and 4 years after Raphael's death-

Dianne stood in the showers. She relished what little water ran through the underground pipe systems, which somehow managed to survive nearly a decade of war and famine. It has been almost 21 days since her last shower. Now the grime was no longer caked on her skin, not to say that it wasn't squeaky clean but manageable and a blessing altogether. 

The fight today was relatively tame. Dianne and her team were deployed to the barren streets of NYC to scavenge for any medical supplies to bring back to the Krang Rebellion Underground Base (KRUB). Thank to whatever celestial that existed aside from the brain aliens, the scavenging team returned safely. 

Now, Dianne lazily leaned on the bathroom wall and allowed the trickle of water to distract her from any thoughts. 

A light thrumming sound echoed into the steaming bathroom. Dianne was pulled from the thoughts, "Shel?" 

Within seconds a gleeful robotic voice replied, "It's Dad! He's back!". Finally releasing the breath she held in, Dianne sighed with relief and thanked Sheldon for announcing her dear husband's return. Some rustling could be heard from outside the shower, a little chatter between father and son. No doubt both were more than delighted to see each other again after her husband's 14day absence. Away on a mission, as usual. 

Dianne just smiled at the little domestic interaction. Her heart finally calmed when soft but sturdy footsteps entered the bathroom, and the person closed the door behind them. Locking the two lovers in blissful peace. 

Dianne laughed gently as Donatello's hands enveloped her steaming body in a tight hug. Her hand came over to cover his own and she turned her head to lean more into his plastron. Hamato Donatello's smile grew ever sweeter and he buried his face into the crook of his wife's neck. " 'M happy to be home," he said then continued to hold his wife ever closer, running his worn hands over her damp skin and silently thanking her for surviving her scavenging mission. Dianne tilted her head so that her forehead met with his, " Thank you for coming back home safely, Mr.Hamato.". Donatello grinned into her shoulder and then planted a kiss on her forehead.

Yes, the warm shower was wonderful on the softshell's turtle's skin. Being cold-blooded and all, he never denied warmth. However, add the warmth provided by his loving wife; now, why would he ever be such a dumb dumb and say no to that? 

"For you, everything, Mrs. Hamato."

After the warm bath, Donatello and Dianne snuggled together on their bed. Both husband and wife hummed in contentment as they basked in each other's presence. Maternal instincts took over as Dianne noticed the absence of her AI-brought-to-life-son. "Where's Sheldon?"

"With April, Mikey, and Nardo'. He wanted to meet Casey Jr as soon as we got back from missions," 

Dianne smiled thoughtfully. Sheldon and Casey acknowledged each other as cousins. Casey obviously takes Leonardo as his foster dad after Cassandra died a warrior's death. The red-eared slider had no qualms about this, as he was definitely taken by the young Casey Jr as well. Sheldon on the other hand was brought to life, literally. Donatello being the tech whiz he is did what was considered impossible. 

After getting his hands on some Krang tech, mainly, growing metal, he built a cyborg body for Sheldon and brought his brainchild to life. Since Sheldon is made of growing metal, he could age and grow like a normal person. Feel and love and live like a human being. Donatello also aged making him just right so that the two young boys were of the same age. Both at the tender age of 11, the youngest of the Hamato clan.

Donatello raised a brow, looking to his wife who decided to turn in his arms. Her beautiful face met his and immediately she grazed Donatello's cheek with her thumb. "That's good. The boys should experience a good life." Her husband chuckled weakly, "If you consider living in the sewers during a worldwide Krang Apocalypse normal, sure." 

Dianne couldn't help but shake her head in amusement. Donatello never lost his sarcasm. "Come on, you know what I mean, love," she mused. Donatello gave one of his half-second unamused looks, razzing his wife. "Gasp, I don't know, dear. Shall my loving wife enlighten me with her dazzling knowledge?" 

"Donnie..."

"Shall my dearest bestow upon me not just the elegance and beauty but her innate smarts as well?" Donnie pulled Dianne closer by the waist, flustering Dianne immensely. His legs intertwined with hers trapping her body to himself. He wasn't a touchy-feely person when they first met as teens, but after getting together, and lords have mercy, after their marriage, Donnie could not seem to get his hands off her. Neither could she get her hands off him.

Dianne giggled, putting her hands on his plastron and finally bursting into laughter as Donnie began to tickle her sides, "Gah,Dee sto- stop-"

"Come on, love. Just tell me.." Donnie said and peppered tiny kisses all over his lover's face and neck. "D-Don, you k-know what I mean-" Dianne squealed with joy and made Donnie's chest rumble with his own laughter. 

The happy couple settled after a while, but their smiles were still bright on their faces. Donnie brought Dianne's hand's to his lips, "I love you, so much," he kissed her knuckles, "I love you with all my heart, Hamato Dianne", the placed one kiss in each of her palms. Dianne melted into her husband, reaching out one hand so that her slender fingers could gently graze his jawline. She finally held to the side of his face and brought Donnie down for a sweet kiss. 

Longing and passion could be felt as Donnie melted into her touch, letting his soul be once again drawn into her being. For it is her that Donnie would drown his sorrows in, as he lets Dianne drown her sorrows in him. As long as both of them had each other, come Krang or not, Donnie and Dianne would always be there for each other.
