I adored Moose as a character so much. I just had to throw my hat in the headcanon ring!

So here a little Drabble of Moose! - slaps moose’s shoulder like a car sales man, ‘this man can fit so many panic attacks inside of him!’

Moose huddled under the computer desk. Knees pressed against the computer box, neck craned painfully down just so all of him could fit. It was naive of him to think he was safe here, but at least he felt less exposed, here, among his wires.

There were gunshots ringing downstairs, one of their many enemies coming to settle scores he’d guess.

Somewhere to his right the door of the office slammed open with a loud bang. Moose’s already trembling hands started shaking in earnest now. No no no. he was done for. he was dead. oh god.

“Moose? You in here?” It was a hissed out whisper but Moose knew the voice immediately. A fellow shadow, not an attacker. Thank the heavens.

In place of a reply Moose just let out the shaking breath he’d been holding for the last 2 minutes. It came out as a sob. Almost instantly the silhouette of his friend was crouched in front of him. 

“Thought I’d find you in here,” the shadow said. Their voice was soft and calm but Moose was pretty sure the demeanor was put on. “Threats been almost been eliminated.” The shadow reached out to put a hand on Moose’s muscled shoulder. “We should be safe. But Graves called for me to move you a bit deeper in base anyway. You think you can walk?”

Moose didn’t feel safe, he felt like he was about to have a heart attack. But he’d been asked to move, so he would try.

Moose slammed his shoulder into the plywood of the desk with a resounding Bang!

His muscles became jelly underneath him at the noise. Pain ricocheted down his arm, and he slumped forward. Right- he was under a desk- he couldn’t just stand up like that. Moose’s brain was clouded with panic. Everything get far away and all too close.

“Fuck!”

The curse made Moose snap his head up to the shadow who’d come to get him. They were staring at the door.

Oh, slamming your shoulder hard into a desk would generate noise. Moose’s eyes grew wide. “I- I gave us away…” he stuttered.

“No, no. We’ll be fine,” The shadow lied.

They wouldn’t be fine, Moose thought. Moose wasn’t a fighter! So how would they be fine! oh god oh god.

The shadow’s hand on his arm tightened and dragged his jellied form from beneath the desk so he could attempt to clamor to his feet.

“Here take this, come on we have to get out of here”

A pistol was unceremoniously shoved into Moose’s hands. That was never a good sign.

Moose’s hand shook as he adjusted his grip up the pistol. Logically there was only one gun—Moose’s vision wasn’t so sure.

They’d barely made it out the office door when the first shot rang out. Three men dressed in beige rounded a corner, death in their eyes. A second shot sent Moose’s ears ringing. It hit his fellow shadow’s plate and they cursed, staggering backwards.

Moose’s stupid blunder with the desk had drawn the attackers right too them, and now he was going to die and his friends were all going to die. This was all his fault. All his fault. All his fault. His fault. The gun shook in his hands.

He was overtaken before he knew what happened. Somewhere between the shaking hands and wild eyes the attackers had deemed Moose not a threat and had chosen the route of tying him up for later interrogation. And they were right he wasn’t a treat. He was on the ground before Moose registered they were close enough to grab him. The pistol he couldn’t stop shaking enough to use was thrown to the side, and without backup, the shadow at his side was felled almost as swiftly. (If not with a lot more resistance)

Or at least, they would’ve been right that Moose was not a threat, if the short one hadn’t sneered at Moose’s pinned form, and raked his eyes over Moose’s friend, before sneering:

“I can’t wait to hear the small one scream”

That made Moose into a threat.

Moose’s panic was diluted by rage. Suddenly all terror was pushed away by a storm of anger.

The next thing Moose knew he wasn’t the one on the ground anymore.

His shoulders rolled back. His knees forced the weight of two men off of him with ease. Spinning on his heels a fist of steel was planted between the short one’s eyes and a left hook sent the tall one staggering backwards.

The attackers’ guns were thrown aside and Moose had the two of them pinned with his knees before he realized what he was doing. Somewhere in his blur of anger his fellow shadow has gotten their knife on the last ones throat.

“There’s our Moose!” The shadow grinned, but the quiver in voice gave away the closeness of the ordeal.

“No one talks to my friends likes that.” Moose decided before lifting up the two attackers by their collars and slamming their head together with a satisfying crunch.

Their bodies fell to the floor as his fellow shadow artfully incapable their advisory as well. 

“You want your gun back?” The shadow asked, retrieving it from where it’d been kicked.

Moose shook his head. “Can we just get out of here… please.”

“Sound like a plan.”

Later when they tell the story all the shadows dog pile Moose and coo over how well he did and how they’re so proud and that they’re sorry they couldn’t be there. <3 maybe graves gives him a personal hug up 2 u.

There’s a Shadow that everyone knows about. He’s massive, around 6’7, and has a voice like thunder.

But no one knows how he’s a Shadow considering he’s a coward.

The mere mention of 141’s Ghost makes him start shaking horribly to the point he can’t even hold a handgun without dropping it. The man is strong, but he is a coward. And that cowardly nature sends this massive man hiding behind Graves because at least Graves isn’t scared and with mouth off anyone who is purposely scaring one of his Shadows.

So Graves practically babysits this giant, everyone wondering why he even has such a scared fool in Shadow Company.

I'm back with more PJO/Riordanverse headcanons! Some of these are also just ways I would have done things after seeing then in new perspectives. This'll probably be a long post so I'll put this all under the cut.

Imma start with the headcanons!

Malcolm and Jake were actually dating for a while but only told everyone after Nico and Will both came out.

Adding on to my Genderfluid Percy headcanon from before, Percabeth are both bi so Annabeth doesn't mind.

Mitchell came around during the Sea of Monsters quest and Lacy came at the same time as Drew due their mortal parents living in the same area since they go to the same school

Clovis has actually been at the camp nearly the same amount of time as Annabeth due to his sleep powers hindering his mortal mothers life, she left on the hill.

Thalia and Grover set up small hidden demigod camps for quests since it's common for monsters to destory your supplies. They are able to do this because they travel a lot.

Percy, and Annabeth often invite Will and Nico over so they can help eachother with eachothers Tartarus experiences.

Percy and Annabeth consider Nico a little brother and let him stay over at anypoint once they have their own home.

Every year Percy has three birthday parties. One at camp courtesy of his fellow campers, one at his home with his closest friends, and his family, and one with his cousins where they go out. Often the one from hosted by Sally and Paul is the only one actually on his birthday. The other two often happen the next day.

After Jason's death Leo and Piper decided to start meeting up at least once durung the school year, to check up on eachother. They are sometimes joined by others.

Percy knows how to cook, on the other hand Annabeth is not the best at cooking.

Clarisse and Percy spar together for fun when either of them need a break from everything else in life.

Clarisse often treats Will like a little brother because of how young he was when he became head medic and how many times he healed her despite her rude words at first.

Magnus and Annabeth have meetups almost every month, occasionally Percy and/or Alex will tag along. Annabeth and Percy have yet to tell Camp.

Percy and Annabeth also often meet up with Carter and Sadie for food. They like to check up on the younger kids. Percaveth had yet to tell Camp about these two as well.

When Sally and Paul want a date amnight and Percy and Annabeth aren't available the rest of the seven or Nico and Will are open to babysitting Estelle so the two can still go out. Everyone loves Estelle.

Now for the changed storylines.

I would have had Percy and Annabth stand up for Nico more during the deabte to go save him from the jar as they have know him since he was ten and it just makes sense.

Caleo but platonic. I've seen many points made by others where it shows Caleo isn't the best and honestly it is a bit strange to resolve Leo's arc by giving him a romantic relationship with an immortal much older than him. So instead of having them date, I'd have them bond over them both having bad luck with relationships and give them a sibling relationship.

I would have Drew be mentioned much earlier, give her a big relationship with Silena. She's always with her sister, looking up to her. She was always kinda of a mean girl but she masks her sorrow about Silena with more hate.

Talk about Jason's missing memories more. He never fully got his back, have him ask Reyna about his life, and Thalia about their mother.

I would make Ares just... Less the way Rick made him. He respects girls in his myths, he supports the Amazons. Yet he abuses his daughter? Have him be a supportive father that just hates other demigods cause they think of him as mindless war disrespect his children.

Similarly I would change Hera. Yes, it makes sense for her to dislike Thalia and maybe other big three children because of the myths. But not any other demigods. She, along with being the goddess of marriage and childbirth, is also the goddess of family and women. So many demigods have horrible families, let her support them discreetly by allowing her cabin to be the cabin for unclaimed campers, or perhaps by leading young demigods to Artemis so she can help them get to camp.

More seafam shit. Percy and Triton bonding, Percy meeting his other godly siblings other than Kym, Amphitrite getting to know Percy and acting like a stepmother, etc, etc. I need more of this.

Misa actively made Lights life more difficult. If the Second Kira never existed L wouldn’t have found out about the notebook and have been forced to move on because the magic system of the Death Note was not something you could logically deduce.

Misa was the Wild card in the game between Light and L.

Misa was both a help and a hindrance depending on the situation. L was able to deduce a lot thanks to Misa, but if it wasnt for Misa's involvement, Light would never have been in the situation that would have forced Rem to kill L.

At best, we can say that Light could have maintained a stalemate with L for a while. Remember, Light only had access to 1 death note. It wasnt until Misa came into play that he got access to 3. (Technically 2 at the time, but eventually 3.) That whole scheme where he lost his memories. Light needed Rem involved, who was only interested in helping Misa. As for Ryuk, he would only do so much because he is only interested in entertainment and apples.

As for being forced to move on. I disagree. Kira mentioned Shinigami before. L even pondered the notion of death gods being involved BEFORE Misa came into the picture.

I think with the pressure L put on Light, L would have caused some slip up that would have resulted in Light being exposed... or in desperation, Light would have renounced the death note, which would have still been a loss for light.

Now you could argue the shinigami eyes deal. If Kira had that, then he could have Killed L at anypoint. Which is correct, but that was something Light's ego would never allow. He would never sacrifice half his life for a name, and if he did, he would also have to kill the entire task force. That's Lights only true win condition without Misa and he would never agree to it.

Point 1: the court of ignorance and dumbassery

Lets cut to the chase. why the FUCK didnt feyre read Tamlin and Luciens minds at ANYPOINT while she was doin her hot girl shit of taking the spring court down??? huh sjm??? why is your fmc only powerful when convenient. So much could have been cut down. Acowar was way too long.

The whole destroying of the spring court didnt even make that much sense. Im all for a girlie getting back at the people who wronged her but feyre ended up hurting a lot of innocent people in the process. Feyre even tries to ignore the consequences of her actions. She had to invade peoples minds and manipulate people to get them to turn against tamlin and all this could have been avoided if she read his damn mind and learned he was a double agent. Lucien even hinted towards it

here we have sjm acknowledging that yeah, rhysand Sexually Assaulted Feyre UtM in Acotar. Without her consent he dressed her inappropriately (which she was uncomfortable with) had her dance provocatively in his lap, kissed her, and made her drink alcohol so she wouldn't remember the details all without her consent. Yet Sjm is going “its fine” now and feyre herself going “you just dont get it…” ⁉️⁉️⁉️

Now see if sjm actually planned for rhysand to become the love interest why didnt she just avoid all this by having Amarantha make rhysand do this to feyre? Because that would have solved some issues but no. Because Rhysand did all this of his own free will in acotar. He actively chose to do this to feyre. To humiliate her and anger Tamlin because rhysand is obsessed with Tamlin.

Rhysand also loves to not tell his own court things. I was and still am very angry over him not telling Mor, Azriel, Cassien and at the very least his Wife about his plan with the court of nightmares. Just why.

Mors anger towards Nesta also makes no sense. sjm stop writing girl on girl hate challenge impossible

Point three: That one toy story scene “I dont wanna play with you anymore!”

Now tamlin. Tamlin tamlin tamlin im so sorry love for what sjm has done to you. If i start ill never stop. What Tamlin said to feyre and rhysand at the high lords meeting was out of pocket but he also wasnt wrong about some things. Also from established character these actions make no sense and his actions havent made sense since acomaf because sjm threw him and his character away to play with shadow daddy and bad morals. But she also cant commit to making a character of hers actually evil so tamlin saves the whole day by bringing the autumn court to fight and saving rhysand life. Tamlin has redeemed himself by sjm standards but she then wrote the holiday novel which i have read and detested.

Overall the plot was fine. i guess. it probably looked better when compared to the characters.

Sjm learn to redeem characters outside of “ooh they were abused and have trauma so everything they do is okay” for guys and “she fell in love/had sex with the most PERFECT MALE TO EVER MASCULINE.” its boring and flat. Also i know what happens in Acosf (i will not be reading that ty) so wtf happened to Nesta bro. she got the tamlin treatment. boooo 👎

dirge being bigender SPECIFICALLY isnt something that really comes UP all that much during the plot of bg3 and the interactions he has during that plot, but its not because it isnt a major defining of his self concept, but the opposite

its SO overwhelming crucial and foundational that he CANT meaningfully sit down with those feelings until after everything is so thoroughly handled and No Longer A Problem that he cant actually ignore it for "more important" issues, which means that he doesnt think about it or discuss it at all to anyone at anypoint during his travels because Thats Where The Dysphoria Demons Live and who has time for that. we have brain worms to deal with

dirges primary exposure to Gender as a concept is through the cult of bhaal, and its an underlying foundational understanding of his self perception that carries well past his tadpoling into current circumstances. the cult of bhaal itself has a twofold gendered culture (imo, headcanons incoming) and dirge internalizes both aspects

firstly theres The Cult as a religious institution that seeks to evangelize and indoctrinate new members and enact its broader political goals upon society. this Cult is fairly eglatarian, with no meaningful distinction between assassins who are men and assassins who are not. bhaal is venerated as the principal deity but worship is conducted primarily through acts of violence, which themselves are not gendered and instead rewarded based on meritocracy. all thats explictly valued is your ability to kill, which is a matter of skill and training (and sometimes race as doppelgangers are preferred assassins because of their shapeshifting)

then theres The Cult as abusive familial institution. this Cult is deeply patriarchal and misogynist, foregoing blatant sexism in favor of gendered favoritism and role enforcement. whats valued is closeness to the Image of Bhaal, the concept of what Bhaal is and who he is and how he presents, with perceived distance from this image of Bhaal being punished and discouraged. Sarevok is the main enforcer here, with Scleritas and Bhaal mostly working as support, never explicitly contradicting Sarevok even if they dont profess the same set of values. Orins self esteem issues arise primarily from the cheated feeling she has by being set up for a prized leadership role only to feel it snatched away by her bloodkin. Sarevok reveals that was never the plan at all and Orin was meant to be a sacrifical lamb for his own attempt at currying favor

Implicitly, femininity is derided here. Orin was never meant to succeed, both her and her mother as living tokens to be exchanged by their father for Bhaals favor. the dark urge is hailed as bhaals scion and closest of his kin, which sarevok and sceleritas also both remarking that part of the Urge's duties is the siring of spawn. Bhaal notably sired scores of progeny, and the Urge is expected to carry on that tradition, being referred to as a stallion which itself is a masculine term. Orin is set up to fail by being a woman, thus distancing her from the male Bhaal, and then her attempts at bridging the gap are insufficient because they involve too much of her personality (her art and unique interpretations of doctrine) which itself is derided in demeaning feminine terms (iirc "corpse dollies" is thrown around) and on top of it all, Orin can only carry one pregnancy at a time, making her a poorer vessel of bhaal in every measure sarevok cares about, even though she EXCELS at all the aspects the laymans cult values.

dirge internalizes ALL of this and expresses that particular brand of dysphoria im sure a lot of us trans folk are familiar with: "i dont think theres anything wrong with it but the idea of it for ME feels HORRIBLE". if dirge values orins shapeshifting skills, its because of how useful they are for the purpose hes born into. if dirge feels uncomfortable with his appearance and physical traits, its either because he yearns to return to Bhaals Perfect Form or because hes internalized some new thoughtcrime from Trying To Be A Person and thus must be punished for it. being a woman is fine, objectively, because women enter the cult all the time, but HE cant be a woman because that would be an unforgivable sin. He has to sire scores of spawn (nevermind if the idea of it makes him feel sick), he has to embody the will of Bhaal upon this earth, he has to ensure he never strays too far from his innate nature as a fragment of his Father! So he simply cant be a woman, because itd be bad for him specifically, and he definitely doesnt desire to be a woman or feel desire over his sisters innate skillset that allows her to shift and change as she chooses, in turn having access to more individuality than he will EVER be allowed to have even though he has a set face and she has an everchanging mask, and there isnt really anything WORTH desiring about being a woman anyways because itd all just make his life harder and he already struggles so much living up to the destiny he was born to achieve, so why would he ever make it harder? and it takes getting stabbed in the head to even PARTLY remove some of that entire mess

so post tadpoling, hes left with mostly all the negative aspects of growing up in the cult of bhaal but without any of the thought processes that justify them, so hes left feeling vaaaguely uncomfortable? with no clear reason but a Hot Brain Stove he flinches away from touching, and thats probably normal for someone in his situation so there isnt really any reason to dwell on it! it rears its head any time he tries to have sex though, and as its something he partakes in fairly often he does have to try to deal with THAT head on the misogyny hydra, the head in question being that he is deeply deeply uncomfortable trying to top in bed. His role as bhaals scion and urging from sarevok and sceleritas coerced him into sex acts with consenting cultists he REALLY did not want to participate in, for a purpose he VERY much did not want to fulfill, and thus topping is, for dirge, intrinsically tied to the idea of Trying To Impregnante Someone which itself is tied to his loss of autonomy. those reasons arent immediately known the first time he tries to be intimate, just a very strong discomfort that immediately makes itself known and which continues to do so with every intimate act he tries to participate in.

it isnt that dirge dislikes Being A Man, its more that masculinity is so wound around Being The Dark Urge that its less about masculinity and more about autonomy. he cant be a woman until hes allowed to Be Himself and THAT cant be handled until he manages to extricate himself from the cycle of abuse hes caught in with the temple. post temple confrontation, aside from the exacerbated mental illness symptoms he experiences, his own Concept of Self DOES manage to begin recovering, grief stricken as it is, and his masculine presentation doesnt change insofar as his behavior surrounding it does, loosening up on exploring his own particular preferences and being more experimental in the bedroom. masculinity itself is a kind of neutral safe ground dirge tenously pushes towards gender non conformance, and in that regard his relationship with minthara is VERY beneficial

minthara also has an incredibly Gendered upbringing but minthara carries most of her backgrounds positive and empowering aspects into her presentation as a woman. for minthara, femininity isnt just something ascribed to her but something she actively chooses to engage in and with because she enjoys doing so and finds its compelling and satisfying. this is vastly different from dirges understanding of femininity, which is something thats either not worth discussing because of how little it affects you or something that actively demeans and lessens you. thatd hed be drawn and attracted to that kind of powerful intentional presentation isnt really surprising

minthara isnt just an example for dirge of how the limits imposed on femininity are socially constructed rather than innate, she specifically is a vision of femininity he wants to partake in. most of the personality traits they find agreeable and desirable in each other are specifically considered feminine in menzoberranzan. that hes bloodthirsty, ruthless, ambitious and pragmatic are not just neutral traits but explicitly feminine gendered ones within the culture minthara openly admires and yearns for. minthara deliberately encourages the parts of him she both considers to be his strong points and also associates with women. similarly minthara is a kind of woman the family of Bhaal has no place for (and is part of why he rejects Bhaal at the end of it all) and one that Dirge hasnt gotten to experience, and its a kind of womanhood dirge badly wants for himself, the kind of woman he can actually see himself being similar to without being demeaned or lessened for it. its a gendered experience he actively craves rather than passively enjoys, and he cant actually reach for it until hes comfortable with the idea of Deliberately Having An Identity in the first place, which he then works backwards from to Purposefully Present As A Man afterwards
