Rabbit

Pygmy Rabbit

Your daemon would take the form of a pygmy rabbit! You are a kind and playful individual who is is good at finding silver linings. More so than others with rabbit daemons, those with pygmy rabbits are sweet souls, but nervous around large crowds and are frequently insecure. They are giving friends who can be clingy and worrywarts, but ultimately are supportive and optimistic people.

This couldn't have come out more perfect XD I've associated Aurelle with rabbits for ages, even before the Myths of the Realm raid series added that extra point of connection in there. The descriptions feel pretty accurate too, even the contradictory points of pessimism and optimism, as she can swing quite wildly between the two given how prominent and intense both her loves and her fears are.

Rumour has it that Aurelle is working with Ser Aymeric to petition Ishgard's Upper and Lower Houses to fund the opening of a Library in the Firmament. Apparently she wants it to be free for all levels of Ishgardian society to access, regardless of rank. Something about "improving literacy levels" or somesuch. Admirable enough I suppose, but do we really want the lower orders filling their heads with too many foreign ideas and questioning their betters?

Aurelle brightens with palpable enthusiasm at the topic, and then wilts again slightly upon hearing of the last, brows furrowing as she carefully considers her response.

"I'm… maybe not the best person to… to speak to those particular kinds of concerns. In terms of… Um. Well."

She steadies herself with a breath, and pulls her hands away from fidgeting with each other and into loosely held fists at her sides.

"I am a foreign element, despite how graciously I've been, um, welcomed in." Her head dips briefly in deference and gratitude. "My ideas won't always be… right. For what Ishgard needs. Or should prioritise."

Another breath.

"But I really do believe that it would benefit… so much. After all the years of war and of rebuilding. To have a space for… rest, and growth, and joy. Not just the learning, but the, the stories. The art. The… the beauty that remains at the core of Halone's teachings. If more people could read them, could interact with them more deeply… There's so much a space like that could come to be. And it's Ishgard herself that would truly shape that in the end, not me."

Her regathering brightness dims again as she seems to catch herself, throwing an apologetic glance to all present.

"But it's Aymeric—ah, Ser Aymeric—that would be able to better speak to what that all really means for, um, the different parts of Ishgardian society. He thinks it's a good idea. But it's, um, up to the people at the end of the day. To accept or reject the proposal. I hope they accept it."

I specifically saved this ask for my envoy who has now been born! (and subject to change as I play the game but oh well)

Athek is by nature just kind of unsettling. Very calm, insightful, generally helpful, and also does not give a shit about social conventions. Unfortunately this did not help them avoid being chased out of their village for being a fucking weirdo. Their priorities lie with their own research into souls, the inbetween and how they impact reality, everything else is secondary that will be dealt with as nescessary. That said they have no problem helping where they can if asked, they just probably won't get the idea first.

Hard to pick out a favourite thing just yet since I have seen so little yet, but I did immediatly commit to Athek having a weird psychosexual affair with both the Emperor and the Empress. Seperately mind you. They don't really care for it, but it's fine, they're content with the arrangement if it secures their spot at court and their access to research material. They don't mind playing some politics, sexual or not, every once in a while, to keep their safe position. For the exact same reason they once had a very short lived affair with Inquisitor Lödwyn that neither of them wanted but well, the things you do for court politics. Yes this was after the Deadfire incident cause I think it's funnier that way.

Fun facts! I don't have much yet but I will post more when I get there.

Athek has pink lichen growing all over their body (and I'm grumpy that the ingame naked model is just entirely smooth but oh well)

They wanted to to go the Living Lands and felt a call even before the news of the situation there arrived. The Emperor didn't have terribly much choice to send them after both their request and pressure from nobles who wanted to get rid of the court pet that had gotten to annoying for some.

i have Way Too Many WIPs going on right now, sob. i am trying to buckle down and focus on one- hopefully this one! Rook is experiencing a problem and goes to Solas for a solution (not a sexy one tho unfortunately. this time.)

There was a larger-than-it-should-be part of him that was glad all of this shit was happening. He had wanted an excuse to seek Solas out from day one; be careful what you wish for, as the saying goes.

Their time together that afternoon was nice, though. Calm and easy and familiar which were all things Rook’s life lacked lately. He told Solas about what had been going on in different places, the work being done to rebuild the world again. What the rest of the team was up to these days. 

He didn't always finish every story he started, but that was okay; Rook didn't notice and Solas didn't point it out.

I have type 2 Narcolepsy. Studies have shown that serious viral infections can cause people to develop Narcolepsy if they are already genetically susceptible to having it. This includes covid. That is what happened to me.

I'm going to start off with the sad ones, because I prefer my Lieumon happy. So we'll end on a high note. ;)

Saddest Lieumon headcanons:

After the events of S1, I have a general headcanon that Lieu and Amon find each other again and work out their shit (detailed here). The two have been too tight for too long to throw that connection away. But even as they patch up their wounds and Lieu learns to live with Amon as a bender... the one thing that Lieu struggles with forever is calling him Noatak. He knows this person is still his Amon, but having to call him such an unfamiliar name always stings a little. 💔

Amon suffers from night terrors from his years of abuse as a child. Lieu is almost always there to calm him when this happens, but he knows there is little more he can do than hold him tightly to his chest and breathe with him. Of course, Lieu was largely unaware of what kind of abuse Amon endured, since he was unaware Amon was a bender. So he's only left to wonder what horrors this poor guy has in his past. It leaves him feeling very helpless.

Lieu has a tattoo on his back of the Equalist symbol. After moving far from Republic City and trying to distance himself from the fallout, he has to make sure it remains covered in public. He often forgets it's there himself. But every time he catches sight of it in the mirror, it's like twisting a knife in his chest.

Happiest Lieumon headcanons:

Amon loves hot, steamy baths. Whenever he and Lieu stay above ground at Hiroshi's house, their guest rooms have an adjoining bath with a gorgeous tub on a raised dais. On a quiet night in, Amon will soak for ages, and Lieu will eventually let himself in, settle behind him, and rub his shoulders. Nothing soothes these sore, tired boys like a good bath.

Lieu and Amon met when Amon was in his early 30s (and Lieu was in his late 30s, recently sacked from a position at the power plant). At the beginning of the Equalist movement, Lieu was instrumental in developing and teaching their followers the chi-blocking fighting style. He and Amon would frequently spar in the gym for practice in the early days. They became so fond of sparring to let off steam that they continued to do so even after the movement was in full swing. Amon absolutely loves watching Lieu in his element as a fighter, and doing so almost always results in... ahem... other activities. :) I'm in the middle of drawing a whooole bunch of flirty sparring sketches of these two, so stay tuned for those!

The sound of Lieu's heartbeat is the number one most relaxing thing for Amon. And Lieu knows this. If Amon is stressed late at night, Lieu will invite him over to rest his head on his chest, where he will usually fall asleep as Lieu strokes his hair. Lieu will stay put as long as he can - smoking a cigarette, reading a book, listening to the radio etc. - so as not to disturb him. :)

Ethan Hunt for the headcanon game!

Or Ethan + Emma if you wanna share possible spoilers~~

I was going to do Ethan but then I started thinking about Ethan and Emma and couldn't stop 😅

Headcanon 1: Realistic Emma and Ethan met each other before either of them met Simon (this will, in fact, be its own fic). Emma's very excited to introduce them to each other (she has two spy friends! They should meet!). Meanwhile Ethan and Simon are doing a weird dance of we're-not-flirting-because-we're-both-in-relationships-but-we-did-start-out-flirting-and-that-interest-and-habit-is-really-hard-to-break that makes everyone who witnesses it look at them sideways.

Headcanon 2: May or not be realistic, is definitely funny (at least to me) Okay I couldn't think of any specifically funny headcanons, but it is so dear to me that Ethan and Emma both embody hope in their respective movies. Ethan never gives up, never gives in despite the odds, helps and protects people and inspires his teammates to be kinder versions of themselves. @airlockanadaviaries' edit of Ethan with the hope poem is imprinted on the inside of my skull and is such a good reading of Ethan. He is hope! Even when he's told missions are impossible or sacrifices must be made, he refuses to accept it. He finds a way. His way - the kind way - the hopeful way. The best way.

And Emma! She is resolute in her determination to do what is right, damn the danger and damn personal gain. She wants to solve cold fusion because there is a problem and here is a solution so why shouldn't she give it away for free? She can help people! What does it matter that she'd be unfathomably rich by patenting and manufacturing it? What does that have to do with anything? She can take steps towards a better world immediately - of course she's going to charge towards a brighter future head-first. Why wouldn't everyone else follow?

Headcanon 3: Evil and heart-breaking why would you do this Have two because I finally got the opportunity to return to my angst roots 😈

(In a saintspyscientist context): Emma struggles with loneliness, and it gets worse once she's comfortable with Ethan and Simon. In some ways, being alone was better because she was used to it. Having two people who she cares for deeply, but who are (A) consistently in danger, and (B) unable to be there with her regularly, hurts in a new and arguably worse kind of way. Simon can retire but never be with her openly because of the police, while Ethan could be with her openly but would never retire. It's a no-win situation.

(More focused on Ethan and Emma): Ethan met Emma right before MI1 and his world went to pieces, so he basically vanishes/ghosts her for ages. Emma was the type of kid who was least loved among her friends (she's the one who had to walk on the grass or behind her friends when the sidewalk was narrow) and she got very used to being left out of things, so she retreats into herself after this. It's fine, she tells herself firmly, because she can visit Percy's statue every day and she has her research and she's so close to completing her formula and she's too busy to worry about friends anyway…

She still falls hard and fast for Simon but it takes him doubly long, in this universe, for her to truly trust that he's not going anywhere, and Ethan's got a bit of blame for that.

Headcanon 4: Doesn't align with canon (or maybe even reality) but I do what I want. I doubt they'd have the opportunity due to Ethan's unpredictable work schedule and Emma's heart condition, but I do believe that Ethan and Emma would have a great time skydiving or cliff diving or some similar activity. For your consideration:

Emma: *genuinely pushes for jumping off the roof of an apartment building into a snow-filled dumpster to escape pursuers* Ethan: *has yet to meet a building he wouldn't fling himself off of*

Both of these, I would like to stress, are in fact supported by canon. Emma realised she was in a heist movie and immediately threw herself full-force at a classic action movie trope. Ethan rappelled into the CIA the instant he was in charge of a mission. You cannot tell me these two wouldn't egg each other on.

Simon, who canonically has height-related trauma, is NOT having a good time. RIP buddy.

Let's go with Ashes, I really need to work on their whole deal anyway and they're fun.

Ashes is a dawn godlike paladin of the order Fellows of Saint Waidwen Martyr. They were born in Readceras about a year after the Godhammer and so were raised especially for the faith as a symbolic figure. They are fairly calm and quiet in nature, preferring to take a supportive role rather than lead themselves. As for aesthetics, tbh I haven't really bothered to really look into clothes just yet but they usually wear armour and a purple cape. Cause I like capes. They also like to embroider so the cape probably has some neat embrodiery around the edges.

My favourite thing (aside from the fact that i just like playing an unhittable tank) is probably developing their personal connection their faith as someone who has never known anything else and has found a place they can be content with themselves and still finds themselves pushed into positions they don't want to be in. I'm excited to get a bit more specifically into their thoughts on Waidwen (though I will not get into that here until I've had the chance to play that out)

Fun facts!

Sometimes i just listen to songs I like and go "oh I should add that as a lore detail". Which is how I got a bit more on Ashes' childhood. They were originally raised to be part of the Readceran clergy and likely would have been put into a very visible ceremonial position, but upon witnessing some sort of torunament (are those a thing in readceras? Uncertain, I'll figure out something lore appropriate later) and one woman taking part in particular they decided they wanted to become a figher and begged to instead join the paladin order, as that seemed the closest option open to them. It took quite a while and some arguing, some tears and probably some political manouvering from the order who was ecstatic at the idea to eventually allow for that.

Ashes is afab and but find the idea of gender somewhat irritating. Not enough to actually argue about it and they certainly have other options right now, but the treatment of godlikes as genderless in the vailian republics was actually kind of intersting to them when they first encountered it. They will be content with any pronouns used for them.

Their full name is Ashes Joye-in-Sorrow Vigilance Sorlain. Yes I had a lot of fun naming them. Sorlain is the name their grandmother gave them out of pity for the rest of the names that were basically a matter of state interest.
