The Nightwatch: Astrow Games and the Native Build

The Nightwatch challenging 2D roguelite bullet hell game is working towards Linux and Windows PC debut. Thanks to the creative minds at Astrow Games. Due to make its way onto Steam this October. After a year of development, countless play tests, and several demos, The Nightwatch is finally gearing up for its official release on October 23rd. It’s been a long journey, but Astrow is ready to unleash this challenging 2D roguelite onto the world. And a port is in the mix:

Linux support is something I really want to do since the beginning of development, but haven't gotten the time to do yet. The engine used is Unity, and creating a linux port shouldn't be a hard task.

Astrow Games just got back to us, and they’re really keen on bringing The Nightwatch to Linux. They’re excited about offering a native build, but they mentioned that surprises can sometimes throw a wrench in the mix. Since the title is built with Unity, there’s a good chance we’ll see that native build. However, they stressed that time is tight, but they’re optimistic. As they put it, “hopes are high for a Linux port”, maybe even post release.

The Nightwatch - Release Trailer

One of the best things about The Nightwatch is the way you can customize your character. There are 9 talent trees to explore, each one offering different ways to build your character to fit your playstyle. Whether you want to be a powerhouse with a big sword or a sneaky rogue who strikes from the shadows, there’s a path for you. And with 40 upgradable items, you’ll have plenty of tools at your disposal to take down those monsters. The wizard tower is randomly generated, so no two runs are the same. You’ll be exploring dark rooms, opening chests, and discovering shrines, all while trying to stay alive. And just when you think you’ve got the hang of things, you’ll face off against one of three big bosses. These endgame bosses are no joke, so make sure you’re ready before you take them on. There are also 30 objectives to keep you busy in The Nightwatch, so there’s always something new to aim for. Plus, the game has a custom soundtrack that really amps up the action and makes each battle feel epic. Before the official release, Astrow is releasing one final demo (likely Windows), packed with all the quality of life upgrades and UI tweaks they’ve been working on. This demo will also be part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest. So it’s a great chance to get a taste of this title before it launches with plans for Linux and Windows PC via Steam. Get ready to dive into The Nightwatch challenging 2D roguelite on October 23rd and see if you’ve got what it takes to conquer the wizard tower. It’s going to be a wild ride!

Consisting of dinner, drinks, and dessert at whoever's house .

Sometimes it would be at your house.

One time you forgot to turn your blender off and it broke.

Mashed fruit went EVERYWHERE.

You called Valerie Anders and she immediately came over to help you clean up.

She even brought her own blender over for you to use.

Lilly is such a simp for both her girls. Seeing her at the end reaching for Astrid's hand had me bawling my eyes out. She was so cute and pure. I'm not sure if that's a gif request or if I just needed to get that off my chest. No wonder Candace has been crushing on her for so long. She just seems like someone who loves completely.

I always like to say that Lilly listened so hard that Candace fell in love. I'm joking of course, because really it was Lilly's kindness, loyalty, attentiveness, stubbornness, and preciousness, along with other things- other traits. Also Candace has been all sorts of... I can't even word it right... just like Candace has got IT bad, whatever IT is. I think also, I mean, you just have to admire that when no one else will, Lilly sticks up for herself. So really, I do think Candace truly admires Lilly, which is why she's working so damn hard to not smash her heart into bits and pieces, and adjusting PRETTY fast considering she started that school day ready to never talk about the fight and break up (I think it counts??) I've seen it happen before where someone really does like, find their person in elementary school- It boggles the mind, but is really an interesting relationship dynamic.

I wonder how much Candace had that crush tamped down, because by the time we see them, it's just out in the open, pretty much. People have pointed out that, hey, maybe it was always that obvious and that was part of the whole split in the first place from Christine. (Also the show is sort of full of simps if you think about it, Fortwell simps, Astrow Simps, Val simps for Eggs who simps for the cosmos)

I definitely plan on getting to that scene soon, the "Both of our dad's are dead!" got to me, Astrid is hilarious. Although it maybe on Saturday?! So remind me, if it really seems like I've forgotten, I've worked... 6 of the past 7 days with yet more work to come, so I'm actually tired, which is rare for me.

They were SUPER sugar-y sweet at the end of this episode, I was like wow, they are handing this rose back and forth?! It's going to be lovingly romantic gesture after lovingly romantic gesture for these teens.

this is completely my opinion, so please don’t try to argue with me because i’ve spent a long time thinking about this. the new return to hogwarts got up my courage to post this…

harry potter changed my life. as a kid who always felt alone, cried in the shower when i felt no one could ever understand me, and wondered why i felt like i did, it was a safe haven for me. visiting harry potter world made me feel truly at home. when i saw jk rowlings huge controversy, i was shocked, especially since her world has been such a safe space for all of us. everyone has been so focused on cancelling her and saying that we need to “move on from harry potter” because of this. but i disagree. this doesn’t need to be the end of harry potter.

regardless of your feelings on jk rowling as a person, you can still appreciate her as an artist. there are so many people who practically worship these pop culture figures like kanye west and travis scott, who are fairly despicable human beings. travis scott and his team continued pushing astrow*rld forward even though they knew there would be casualties. there are records of it being discussed. because of his neglect, people literally died. and yet people still listen to him and adore him and his music?! i can’t fathom it. for these sorts of horrible pop culture icons, people claim they can enjoy the art and not the person.

the other thing is that harry potter has taken on a life of its own that we the fans, along with the incredible actors and actresses in the films, have breathed into it and given it. we’ve found ourselves at home within the pages, and that in itself is magic. personally, luna is my favorite. she’s a tad out there, and doesn’t really belong, but somehow does at the same time. she also doesn’t give two f*cks which i really admire and strive to be like. i’m terrified someone is going to try to frame me as transphobic and sexist and horrible, though i have several close friends who are trans and gay, and myself am part of lgbtqia (not comfy entirely disclosing it yet thank you 🤍).

i do not condone any of what jk has done, i am part of the lgbtqia community myself (though at the moment that’s all i am comfortable sharing and i’d really appreciate not being asked about it), and it helped me find a home within the beautiful pages. also, if you’re having a bad day, go smell a book. it’s such a great scent. it’s better if the book isn’t ancient, if i’m being totally honest.

also, f*ck travis scott and astroworld. they suck.
