Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road by darnedchild, Devsgma - Teen, 33 chapters - Devsgma and Darnedchild have combined their talents to tell you the story of what has happened to our favorite pair. It starts with a few letters from one extremely grouchy potions maker to the manager of a used book store. Canon through Deathy Hallows to the point of Severus Snape's supposed death at which point it becomes AU. This fic is a collaborative effort and was originally born from an aborted RP that never quite made it off the ground.

What’s everyone’s favourite newer fics! I feel like I’ve read the best from the good ole days but haven’t been around in the last few years. Anything compare to some of the top fics lately?

Oh heck yeah! Oodles of great stuff, especially post The Final Problem (I'm using 2017 as the baseline cos I assume by the good ole days you're talking PetraTodd and DietPlainLite and broomclosetkink and Nocturnias, to name but a few).

  I know this is a ridiculous wish, but MAN do I...

I think I remember reading somewhere that there is a way to blacklist certain tags on Ao3, but I don’t know if that could work for ships. It might work to remove the unwanted ships from the author update feed for you? I know I have written a few ships that some of my regular readers do not like, and it would be nice if Ao3 could set up a filter for that kind of thing.

How many fics have you written? It’s different on FF and AO3 (because of the oddness of formatting) So we’ll go with AO3: 144

Where/when do you usually write? At Casa de La Lil. I have my little writing room, thanks to my gorgeous and, oh so indulgent husband ; )

What is your favorite fanfic that you’ve read? ONE?! I’m supposed to pick one? Impossible!! (But pronounced in French!)

What is your fave fic that you’ve written? The one I’m posting right now, The Ones We Love. I think it’s the best one I’ve written. But I do love The Science of Evolution, too. It’s an oldie, but a goodie.

What inspired you to start writing fanfic? I was reading a LOT of them and became inspired. I thought: Hey! maybe I can do this! (for the record, I couldn’t... my first few stories were awful! Hopefully, I’ve improved!)

What is your favorite trope to read? Oh, easy BDSM & Omega Verse!

What is the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever read/heard/would like to share? I once read something from Neil Gaiman about finishing your work... I can’t remember it verbatim, of course, but he basically said to finish it, even if it’s crap! This was great for me because I have a laptop full of half-finished stories. I MAKE myself go over old works a couple of times a month and, I think, some of my best stuff has come from the ‘Island of Misfit Fics’ (as I call it). Occasionally, I send one to a friend to see if it’s palatable or not. They never lie to me. If it’s utter goose turds, I have to start over ; )

What is your favorite feedback you’ve received as an author? I have gotten some amazing reviews and comments. I still remember my first review from @mizjoely on Effing Mycroft. I completely fangirled out like a 14 year old at a NKOTB concert (just aged myself!) And the first one I got from @mrsmcrieff on Clothing Malfunctions that started our friendship (it had to do with Three’s Company...because I always think I’m slightly more clever than I actually am *shakes head*) These comments started two wonderful friendships that I value more than I can express. 

I appreciate each and every review and comment. Every like, every favorite, every kudo, every damn heart and reblog! It feeds me! You fellow shippers are true gold!

6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved with. Already Answered!11. Who is your current OTP? McCoy/Molly, which is a crossover OTP between Star Trek AOS and Sherlock that I write pretty much for RP reasons.15. Is there an obscure ship which you love? Aside from my OTP? You don't see a lot of Kirk/Uhura stuff in the AOS fandom unless it's a OT3.23. Name a fic you've written that you're especially fond of & explain why you like it. Wow. There are, like, so so so many, considering I’m really close to 1,450 fics on AO3, and that’s not counting the huge amount of Buffy fic I wrote that is lost to the web. But I suppose...it’s more than one fic, but all the stuff in my “Stuff Of Improbable Legends” series that involve characters whose fandoms I’m not a part of and have never seen/read. How many fics have you written? A03 says 71, but there is an old X-Files fic out there somewhere, a Petuna Dursley/Peter Pettigrew ficlet I’m waiting to spring on people when I’m absolutely desperate for something to post, two finished 200 word drabbles waiting to post, and the first six chapters of “Walls of Jericho” (Snape/Hermione) languishing forgotten (for the moment) on Ashwinder.

Where do you share your writing? AO3, FFdotNet, Ashwinder, LJ, IJ, Dreamwidth

What is your pseud there? Darnedchild everywhere that I admit to.

Where/when do you usually write? Anytime I’ve got a free moment at my desk, in the car with a notebook, when I’m having lunch by myself

What is your favorite fanfic that you’ve read? Post Tenebras Lux by Loten, a Snape/Hermione fic that I have reread so many times.  

What is your fave fic that you’ve written? A Vicious Motivator – it’s the first Sherlolly fic I started writing (but not the first I posted) when I finally got around to watching BBC Sherlock.  (At the Edge of the World or The Unlikely Matchmaker are close seconds on the Harry Potter side).

What inspired you to start writing fanfic? Not going to lie, it was shipping.  I started with shipping fic from the 80’s TV series War of the Worlds, then posted my first fic online in college for The X-Files.  I stopped writing for several years, then got back into it thanks to Alan Rickman and Snape.  Stopped again for a few more years, and then Sherlock drew me back in.

What is your favorite trope to read? Fake relationships!  *all the grabby hands*

What is the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever read/heard/would like to share? Write what you want to read. Write for yourself, you’re the most important audience you’ll have.  

What is your favorite feedback you’ve received as an author?  I can’t think of a specific one off the top of my head, but anytime someone says that my words are in character or that they can hear the character’s voice when they read my fic . . . That is one of the highest complements I can get.  Or whenever someone tells me my work made them laugh or cry.  Evoking a strong emotional reaction in a reader tells me that I’ve done my job, and I’ve done it well.

How many fics have you written? That depends on how you look at it. If you count the “366 Sherlolly ficlets” individually (like I have them on AO3), then it’s 100 Sherlock fics (including crossovers), 1 Tin Man fic, 2 Harry Potter fics, 1 POTO fic, and 2 Labyrinth fics. There was another Labyrinth songfic that I removed from FF.net when they stopped allowing songfics. It got lost in the ether after Geocities went kaput and took my friend’s little archive with it.

Where do you share your writing? AO3 has the Sherlock stuff only, FF.net has everything. If it’s Tumblr-related (a prompt fill or me celebrating another 100 followers), then it’s also on Tumblr.

What is your pseud there? Dreamin on both AO3 and FF.net.

Where/when do you usually write? At my apartment or my parents’ house, usually late at night unless it’s my day off, then it’s any time. Lately, I’ve been using my laptop more for writing than my desktop, even though it’s easier on the desktop.

What is your favorite fanfic that you’ve read? You do know this is how wars are started, right? I have a ton of favorites, I can’t choose just one.

What is your fave fic that you’ve written? Ugh, I can’t choose just one of those either. They’re all my babies.

What inspired you to start writing fanfic? New World Zorro inspired me to write fanfic in my head, though I didn’t know at the time that that’s what I was doing. I wasn’t inspired to actually write fanfic until I saw Labyrinth for the second or third time. 

What is your favorite trope to read? PWP, wank!lock, Victorian, and Victorian TAB are the Sherlock tropes I read the most, but I love a lot of tropes.

What is the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever read/heard/would like to share? Read as much as you can. Find a good grammar/style guide and use it.

What is your favorite feedback you’ve received as an author? Someone once told me they liked the Incubus!Sherlock series better than the show. If that’s not the highest praise for a fanfic writer, I don’t know what is.

I was tagged by two of my favorite authors EVER @theemptyquarto and @miabicicletta (seriously, I <3 both of your writing so so much!) in this nifty WIP game. 

the rule is simple: you copy and paste the last sentence you wrote in a WIP and then tag the same number of people as there are words in the sentence.

1. A long, post-TFP fic that will either be two or four very long chapters, I haven’t decided.

It was a favorite place, their bedroom. Somewhere away from the world, apart even from rest of the house even, at the end of a hall, with the wood to the east and a view of the pond to the north. A sanctuary, though it was far more than a place of reprieve; temple, maybe. An overwrought term, probably, for a bed and four walls and some furniture from made.com over a decade ago, but it was a space they had built together, something more than the little house she’d had or the flat he’d kept, and to him it felt holy.

2. Like the lady said, “It’s Greek.” Ancient!Greek AU. Basically an absurd mashup of the Trojan War, bit o’ Orestes & Iphigenia, but also Odysseus & Penelope, and also, no, but like, what if Eurus was an oracle, and Mary an Amazon, and Irene from Lesbea…John’s still just a soldier though. These, the things I think of. #whatismylife? #whataremychoices?

And so the women of the court called the girl child Melpomone after the delicate white blossoms that grew on the hillsides.

(It was also poison, the moly flower, but this the women could not have known.)

My answer: (Gotta admit I’ve mostly been glaring at this doc for the last couple of weeks lols, but now I feel inspired to push on:). It’s a Warstan/Sherlolly S4 thing!

His emotions had been in upheaval ever since she had left—from not wanting to know where she was at first as the anger overwhelmed his sense, to having worry eclipse the anger, to now experiencing dread overtake the worry, bit by bit.
