The surprise is revealed as soon as Nancy gets home and Haruo wakes up from his nap: a tea party for the family. Riley and Stephanie moved the Kotatsu to their room, and had set up a table with the tea set that used to belong to Stephanie’s aunt Nancy. After everyone gets dressed in their outfits, Riley bakes up some lactose free Yorkshire pudding, and Nancy makes and pours the tea. “Mx. Takamura, this orange blossom tea smells awesome-I mean splendid.” Nancy says to her parent. “Why, thank you, Ms. Takamura. It is store brought but delicious.” Riley says back, and Nancy grins. Riley catches Stephanie’s eye and winks at her. While they were getting ready in their room earlier, Riley had joked about wanting to butter Stephanie’s crumpet, making her laugh and blush, promising that she’d allow it once they were alone together. Stephanie subtly blows them a kiss, and they catch it.

Riley finishes making the Yorkshire pudding while Haruo sets the table while Nancy places a cup of tea by everyone’s plate. The family sits down together*, and everyone takes a serving of the pudding. “Thank you, Mx. and Mrs. Takamura. This is all so lovely,” Haruo says to his Mom and Ren, trying not to giggle, and Stephanie grins. “Of course, Mr. Takamura” Stephanie says warmly. “I like your dress, Ru.” Nancy says to Haruo, and he grins, “Thanks Nan, Ma and Ren have a bunch of your old stuff in storage, so I wanted to dress up and have fun, especially since dresses are so swooshy and neat,” he says, and Nancy nods. “I get it, I’ve been wanting to wear this dress and hairstyle for so long, so I’m glad I got a chance to.” She says, fluffing out her skirt. “Yeah, it looks really pretty and floofy, so I don’t blame you.” Haruo says. “Also, Ren, this pudding is really good.” He adds to his parent, and Riley smiles. “Thanks Ru.” They says, leaning over to ruffle his hair.

Edit: Technically this was supposed to be a regency era tea party, and I realized later that Nancy’s dress is more 1830s, but it’s fine. I dressed them up and set all of it up and mostly just had fun. 😄 Also, Nancy would not sit with her family at the table either due to a glitch/routing issue or something, and I was a bit miffed but was like eh, it's fine. 😅

I’m reading a regency era romance right now called a Gentleman’s Gentleman by TJ Alexander (they're the same author who wrote Chef's Kiss, one of my fave books). It’s about a trans man named Christoper Winthrope who has to find a wife so he can get his father’s inheritance and keep his estate, and has to hire a valet to assist him as he goes from his quiet country house to London. He hires James Harding, who reminds me of Mr. Darcy in that he's grumpy and handsome, and I like their sometimes snarky sometimes sweet dynamic. Also, I like Christopher as well, he's awkward and goofy and kind, and I'm still only at chapter 13, so it's definitely a slow burn romance. 🤔😊

Very Quick Review of Monster High IDW Comics Pride 2025

My partner picked up a copy of the new Monster High Pride comic. I don’t have time to write a full review right now, but after next week it will jump to the front of the line (sorry issue 3).

Once again the same artists have seemed to return to work on the comic (he didn’t send me the credits page). The Toradeen comic is 20 pages long while the Spelltine one is only 10. Once again being the shorter story. 😖 DANG NABIT!

After reading this issue which promises to show how G1 Clawdeen and Toralei developed feelings for one another, I’m still not sold. I’m sorry!! I like a good enemies to lovers story and I love G3 Toradeen…but this just didn’t itch that scratch for me. It is much better than their first Pride Comic entree in my opinion, but I’m still not quite there yet. I am glad it is exploring their dynamic more though.

They both go to math camp, the werecat twins are missing this time, Clawdeen packs way too many suit cases for some reason (that feels like more of a Cleo thing). I can only imagine that Clawdeen and her family have gone camping a lot….so why did she overpack

(besides really driving home that she is a FASHION DESIGNER DID WE MENTION SHE LIKES FASHION?)?

Toralei and Clawdeen get put in one cabin together, they start working together to beat the camp bullies Gloom and Shade.

These bullies give the WAAAAY to close brother/sister dynamic that anime and manga sometimes use.

Also they are giving G3 Draculaura mixed with LOL OMG Surprise Remix Metal Chix

I wonder if them being twins is a nod to Draculogan- a popular custom and “cousin to Draculaura” from KittRen on deviant art back in the G1 era- I could just be reaching, but that’s who I thought of.

They don’t win the trophy, but they get second, with the bullies being third, and admit their feelings for one another, but promise to go slow and then they KISS. The end. Pros: I thought the artwork has improved greatly since the first Pride comic, I like that they’re still trying to build up this relationship (even if I’m still on the fence with it).

There is a they/them poltergeist Math Camp Counselor named Mx. Polygeist (ha! The pun). Callbacks: several characters that were only mentioned in Toralei’s Diaries makes an appearance:

Teala the troll and even the harpy (who now has a name: Gale). Teala is still having issues with her boyfriend (now revealed to be a kraken).

Apparently Toralei was actually an orphaned, living on the street werecat…? It wasn’t just something she made up for Spectra and her Gorey Gazette like I had previously thought.

Okay I hate to admit it, but I was most excited for the shorter Spelldon/Valentine story and IT IS SO CUTE.

Spelldon casually slips up and tells Valentine he loves him, which causes Valentine to turn into a bat and Spelldon to distractedly pull a push door. Valentine freaks out and calls Whisp. He tells her he’s worried that he used his emotional vampire powers on “Spell.”

Whisp points out that she still hasn’t met Spelldon and they’re both dorks (lovingly), but she’ll meet them at the Scarnival to see what she can do.

The boys are awkwardly hanging out at the scarnival grounds, when Whisp calls them to warn them that there is an evil presence there that has been snatching up magic users. Spelldon is snatched once, but Valentine chases it off with his powers (Spelldon adores Valentine’s manifested heart powers-which do look different than his movie counterpart’s), it chases them through a “Fang House,”

and then they lure it to the Ferris Wheel

where Spelldon is caught again by the Shadow. Valentine says that he loves Spelldon, and blasts the Shadow with his powers. Spelldon then uses this moment to fill the place with light and drive the Shadow away.

Turns out the Shadow is Whisp in disguise. She was just trying to get them to stop acting weird around one another and

admit their feelings. It worked! And she got to meet Spelldon,

Spelldon and Valentine kiss, and the three of them enjoy the rest of the evening at the Scarnival (an apparently different one than the Halloween Carnival -no pun- in the Halloween Special).

Pros: Once again the artwork is SUPERB in this story. I just want to post every single panel already!! The coloring and the line work are both delicious. We get the first view of Bat-tine. Their love is adorable, just look at these dorks your honor.

Spelldon loves Valentines’ emotional vampire powers.They’re so cute. You just buy their connection.

I like that Valentine’s emotional vampire heritage was explored more, as was seeing Spelldon’s casting magic.

Also, Whisp gets to meet Spelldon, look at this friend group!! I love it!!!!

Callbacks:

Casta is mentioned as Spelldon’s sister.

Valentine does have a fainting couch.

Now Mattel needs to release a Spelldon doll and or a doll two pack with him and Valentine. Do it! DO IT YOU COWARDS!!

Hello!! A brief(ish) recap before the actual list. It’s been a pretty wild year in wingsland, mostly thanks to finishing up my second master’s degree in December (finally, BYE!). Looking back, I’m surprised at how much content I actually created, but this has been a refuge and source of comfort for me while running on fumes between work and school and general adulting. 2023 also marked some changes in my listening and sources of inspiration. I fell more out of interest with txt (apologies to all followers who were here for them… this is the second time this has happened, oops?) but fell even more in love with Monsta X while discovering some other new or new-to-me artists (more on that in another post). Reason was my first official comeback with them, and it really lit a fire in my brain. I have a few ongoing series that I intend to continue, whether they’re gifs or audio compilations. I giffed a LOT of besties (minhyuk + hyungwon, the soulmates of soulmate besties). It brings me so so much joy to work on those sets and the various audio edits or just being excited about musical details in my music box tag. I also managed to squeeze in a few angsty mv sets along the way, because tbh I feel like I am thriving most as a creator when something is pulling at the heartstrings. I know mbbblr has been quiet lately (and must seem exceedingly so to those who were around years ago), but I will keep being noisy about them until mx6 is reunited and beyond. Thank you for sticking around with me ♡

IMVU Neverland

I created a bunch of Peter Pan-inspired looks on IMVU quite a while back now, and I'm finally getting around to sharing them here! Two of the characters (Kai and Arson) are my OCs; the others are canon (fairly obviously in most cases). The text quotes paired with each image are from J.M. Barrie's original book, with the exception of the ones for my OCs, which are meant to mimic the tone of the book as much as possible. The outfits themselves were mostly inspired by the book, but with some of the stage musical, the 2003 film, and the Disney animated film thrown in.

Peter Pan:

"He was a lovely boy, clad in skeleton leaves and the juices that ooze out of trees; but the most entrancing thing about him was that he had all his first teeth."

Wendy Moira Angela Darling:

"'What’s your name?' he asked.

'Wendy Moira Angela Darling,' she replied with some satisfaction."

Captain Jas. Hook:

"His eyes were of the blue of the forget-me-not, and of a profound melancholy, save when he was plunging his hook into you, at which time two red spots appeared in them and lit them up horribly."

Tinker Bell:

"It was not really a light; it made this light by flashing about so quickly, but when it came to rest for a second you saw it was a fairy, no longer than your hand, but still growing. It was a girl called Tinker Bell, exquisitely gowned in a skeleton leaf..."

Blue Never Fairy:

"When a new baby laughs for the first time a new fairy is born… the mauve ones are boys and the white ones are girls, and the blue ones are just little sillies who are not sure what they are."

Kai (Mermaid Lagoon OC):

"One of the merfolk, bolder than the others, would sometimes get quite close to the children, its long tail shimmering with all the loveliest pale colours of the rainbow, like the inside of a shell you find on the beach. But they were never quite sure if it was a boy or a girl, as it would splash away whenever they got too close, leaving the lagoon echoing with its gay peals of laughter. John said it must be a boy, but Wendy thought girl. When they approached Peter to settle the argument, he laughed heartily and said 'They’re both. And neither.' And though they tried to question him further, he’d lost interest in the topic and wandered off to play at a new game Michael had just invented called Find the Sovereign. This game led to a very interesting adventure, in which the pirates, for once, were the heroes of the day, and in fact — but that is another story."

Note: Kai actually uses "xe/xyr" pronouns in the merfolk language, but to English-speaking children in the Victorian era, "they/them" is the closest approximation.

Also, I (informally) refer to Kai as a "mermx" as a sort of pun on the gender-neutral prefix "Mx." (pronounced "mix").

Arson (Jolly Roger OC):

"...And there was Arson, who was neither man nor woman, but all fire and madness; Arson, dressed in gaudy purples and bedecked with golden bangles and baubles, with the tentacled form of a monstrous octopus tattooed into their flesh; who had once burnt half of Port Royal to cinders on a whim, and who always carried a lit match clenched between their grinning teeth."

"Quite the bruises you've got there." "Didn't you hear?" Nat's dandy tone was second nature at this point, easy to use and thick as treacle. "Purple and green are all the rage this year in Sirap, and everybody knows Sirap makes the fashions." The pirate blinked, head flinching back for just an instant. "And what family member of yours has taken you to Sirap?" Nat laughed, tilting their chin up to expose their throat, even as their heart thundered against their sternum. This was a more dangerous game than any Nat had played before. "Silly pirate, you don't need to go to Sirap to hear about the fashions. That's what magazines are for." "Fucking dandy," Felitabby snarled. The animosity didn't matter. Nat didn't care. Or at least couldn't devote any time to that stab of rejection. They had a role to play here, as surely as they did at home. "Who are you?” the pirate demanded. “And for that matter, since you clearly know, who is he?" "Aw, Peaches," they teased gently, touching a finger to the pirate's crooked nose, ignoring the way even that little motion sent a burning ache up their arm. "You don't get to just ask a dandy something, you have to make an offering first." "You do not seem afraid of being hurt." "Let's be honest here, Peaches. If you want to hurt me, you will." "But you can do things to alleviate the risk." "No." Nat shook their head, eyes landing on the pirate's scuffed boots. "That's just what people like to tell you. To convince you that their choice is your fault. Ultimately, you have decided already whether you are willing to hurt me or not. My own actions have little to no say in the matter. Why scrabble for the desperate attempt to prevent a pain that will come either way? Why delay what could happen now?" They met his eyes, the same colour as the lantern light and lowered their voice to a whisper. "If you want to kill me, pirate, you might as well get it over with and use it to instil fear in the others." "You are not afraid?" "Now, I didn't say that." Nat let out that practised, dandified laugh again. "I'm in a cell on a pirate ship with three supposed allies who hate my guts. Only a fool would be unafraid. And I may be many things, pirate, but I am not a fool."

Everything I Published in 2023

After a long hiatus, I finally got back into creative writing this year -- and what a busy year it was! I published eight pieces on the SCP Wiki, including three entries in The Eternal MxTape. Here's the rundown:

Somewhere Empty: In this black comedy, Mx. Wren Masterson hitches a ride into Utah to settle the score with two anomalous terrorists.

SCP-6476 — Let A Die Be Cast!: Codename NEMO infiltrates a TTRPG group that plays with probability-bending dice. Shenanigans ensue.

NTE-2858-Cyan-Blaecca — "Village Jeweler": The Global Occult Coalition fights for control of "Other London", a Victorian-era asteroid colony populated by anarcho-syndicalists. Charles Babbage is there, and he's a real jerk.

So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea: A hard-nosed Union investigator and a merrymaking veteran haggle over a miraculously compelling one-man band. An alternate-history tale cowritten with ch00bakka for RemixCon2023!

SCP-2444 — Flea Circus: A traveling venue for extradimensional misfits and unloved merchandise. Rewrite of a Series III article by Anonymous.

SCP-7492 — No Matter Where You Live: Post-secondary students receive disembodied reminders of their stress and turmoil. This popular entry was written in the style of SCP Series I.

Nightmare on Archer Row, Part 2: Movie night becomes a fight for survival when "Mr. Slasher Villain" crashes GAW's Halloween party.

The Lambton Ghoul: An eccentric groundskeeper is pushed to his breaking point… and beyond. A "Canadian Gothic" horror story presented in wiki format. Winner of Unofficial Paracon 2023!

Thought I'd throw my hat in the ring for a best films watched in 2023 list. I feel like this is the first year in a while where I've actually watched enough movies to warrant making one of these and it was honestly really rewarding! Bunny Lake Is Missing (1965) Absolutely Superb psychological thriller about a missing child. Infused with equal parts slow creeping dread and unhinged mania.

Godzilla Minus One (2023) No you're crying at the giant monster movie

Dreams that Money Can Buy (1947) A truly Delightful experimental film about a man who can see into people's dreams. The ensuing dream sequences are a tour de force of avant-garde and surrealist artists of the era including Max Ernst, Man Ray, Alexander Calder and more.

The World Is Full of Secrets (2018) So. Bit of a weird one here. This is a movie about girlhood and trauma that spends most of its runtime in close up on the faces of its main characters as they tell each other the sort of over the top scary stories you would expect from a group of 14-16 year olds. It drags in places, but it's also a pitch perfect dreamscape of every sleepover you were never invited to in high school and that's without getting into the framing device. Would love to talk about this one more because the context of how I even heard about it is a conversation in and of itself. But that's a story for a different post.

Midnight Cowboy (1969) Listen. Much has already been written about what the hell is going on with Rizzo's sexuality in this movie. I'm saying that's a gay man who correctly clocked that his painfully straight, visibly traumatized, roommate, whom he is in love with, is not ready to have That conversation. I'm looking for an RP partner or partners!

My rp buddy is burnt out and I've got the itch. I'm a text 1-4 paragraph roleplayer (I don't like novella because it can get bloated, but I'm willing to get a little long-winded). I prefer to RP as original characters but I'm not picky about who or what the other person plays as. I'm also not picky about genre, but I'm most confident in fantasy across any era. I'd prefer to use discord rather than tumblr for RP!

This is a whump blog, but I don't have to rp whump!

I enjoy themes of power imbalances, complicated relationships, and manipulation in roleplay. I'm not great at writing combat. I don't want to rp explicit sex but I'm okay with fade to black. I tend towards young men but I'm trying to diversify the genders and ages of my characters. I like writing in the past tense but I can use any tense alright.

It'd be nice if my rp partner/partners were 18+, but as long as you aren't like 15 it'll probably be fine. I won't rp romance with somebody under 18.

After some quickly aborted aerobics, a near tumble from the bed during an improvised yoga session, and almost spraining his wrist multiple times, Mike has resigned himself to just sulking in bed. He stares at the ceiling, he listens to the radio on his phone, he watches the shapes of people pass by. He’s certain he’s going insane.

When Grimm enters the room, Mike’s tenth radio drama of the day cuts short. The room is eerily quiet as he watches Grimm with unease. Mike counts to one hundred before he picks up the cake to inspect it.

When Grimm and Lantern arrive, the plate has been cleaned and the tines of the fork have been warped and hastily re-aligned. Mike quickly adopts a slightly more relaxed demeanor than his earlier fear. An easy grin creeps across his face.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lantern.” Mike doesn’t acknowledge Grimm’s movements. When he speaks again, he’s still looking at Lantern. “It was lovely. Thank you.”

His voice is hoarse from misuse. It’s the first time he’s spoken days.

"I'm sorry," He says, and he really does sound guilty. "It's not right of me to lose my temper at you. You're unwell."

about the telephone box Q!! honestly, the telephone box is from an actual excerpt, one of which i Cannot remember the number of right now But! yes haunted telephone box on tomsby street was something i took right from the OG without thinking much of it.

i suppose its also quite out of place for radio to be using a Radio. but that's also cleared up in the first excerpt when they say how it one of last forms of communication that the city doesn't monitor!

so i guess, my interpretation i suppose, is that there very much are still older forms of technology that became outdated to the point they were forgotten before they could be like... destroyed or cut off.

and hey like i live in the uk and there are phone boxes here, ofc u still find them in like london mostly for tourists... honestly now that i think about it, they're mostly only still in touristy areas lol! but i think for universe city, at least imo, the city are so busy on always trying to be Futuristic if u will and they're building crazy infrastructure and new technology and all these things that they just forget that the old, outdated stuff can still very much be used... which honestly!! as someone who goes to a uni that is CONSTANTLY building new buildings yet not putting money into fixing the ones that are already there....????? it checks out

i'd also assume that radio wouldn't use older phones like flip phones cause of cell towers and shit like that which the city probably would monitor, but im very entertained by the idea of radio having a silly lil flip phone so they're canonically there because of that. alone.

All members exceot I.M completed their military service (with some members being done with it very recently). I.M is yet to go and is expected to enlist soon. Honestly, monsta x feels like a group that would have gotten wayy popular if they were under a bigger company. Now after the enlistment era, things are going slow. Starship su***. But hey!! I am glad I did, this group is an interesting bunch and yes I will start adding readings about them, since they are pretty open to communicate and I really likes their energies. I haven't done them much, because people haven't asked for them, but I am a fan of them, use to be a huge fan, so I like to bring more of them here and also they have pretty interesting stories to tell. File 1- Saint Mary's Carnival

Saint Mary was a small town in Colorado that was very friendly. Everybody knew eachother and it was located near a big city. Every fall Saint Mary held a festival to celebrate its founding.

The Saint Mary Carnival

The carnival was run by Evan’s family who originally founded the city but lost ownership in the late 1950's. The era of clowns and circus acts wasn’t very popular anymore but their carnival was still very popular. The circus was pretty basic; clowns, animals that do somewhat entertaining tricks, and aerial tricks. They thrived through the carnival attractions and the fact that they put a lot more money into staying with the times by having charging stations and VR booths and such. Most of the men came with their girlfriends or with friends to try their famous beer while the women went, surprisingly, to the circus. Specifically one clown that was very popular among women.

Or Xavier Evan’s if you will. He was a heartthrob at his core. He was the “ring leader”. At least on stage. He ran the circus behind the scenes and hosted every practice which went on for hours every weekday of late spring and all summer. But outside of practice, outside the makeup, he was very attractive in every way.

“I only joined to say I know him. Mr Evans is handsome under all of the clown makeup. If things weren’t the way they are I would’ve asked to be his girlfriend.” Natalia the trapeze artist swoons as she talks to the detective. A little Slavic girl who had brown hair and wore blue and gold body suit.

Although it wasn't it wasn't a long list of charges it was something you'd want to take under consideration for the situation.

You were called to the scene to investigate the disappearance of the victim Sarah Heart who was last seen with friends at the carnival. Her parents called the other day saying she wouldn't ignore them for two weeks straight without a text or anything of the matter. When investigated further her friends said that they hadn't heard from her since they all split ways after the carnival so here you are..

"Have you seen this girl?" You interrupted showing her a photo of the victim. The girl leans in and squints.

"I don't talk to guests. All of the cast other than Xavier and Carmen have to keep to themselves unless it's for directions." She answers with a sigh.

"Do you know why that is?" You ask for her to shake her head.

"If I were to give you a guess; it's probably because those two are the stars and they want to keep us from giving guests unwanted attention."

"No one has spoken to you at all guest-wise?" You ask raising a brow at her.

"Oh no! I've had kids say that my stunts are impressive and I'll thank them but in terms of the adults we can't say anything other than compliments and directions." she chuckles.

You write some information down and move to the other circus members who all give you an answer very similar to hers all leading back to the twins Xavier and Carmen. You leave the huge blue and white tent with a sigh as you are met with a girl with blue hair put in two messy low buns shaking hands with a man.

"Thank you, sir! I can't take all the praise though, my brother helped us keep us all in line so we were in top shape." She giggled. Her voice was soft and lively as they spoke.

"Do you have any more shows for the night?" He asked her with a shake of her head in response.

"No, but I actually have to meet with the cast and help pack up. I'm sorry sir." She hums for him to sigh and wish her good luck going further into the carnival.

"Hello, do you have time for me to ask you a couple of questions?" You ask for the girl to spin around. The girl was definitely Carmen. She had a round face covered in white paint. Two blue streaks went down her eyes and ended linear to the end of her nose matched with two blue crescent moons on her cheeks and a black-to-blue ombre lip. Her green eyes glistened in the bright lights as she nods.

"Did something happen?" She asked approaching you.

"Yes, in fact, I'm here looking for this girl; have you seen her?" You asked pulling out the photo of the victim. She looked between you and the photo before shaking her head.

"I'm sorry, I would remember a face that pretty. If I see her I'll let you know." She smiles for you to smile back.

"Do you think anyone else would know?" You ask for her for her to look around as she thought. She lightly tapped her shoe causing the bell at the curved end to jingle.

"Probably my brother but he always disappears after the show." She said.
