Propaganda
Lauren Bacall (To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Key Largo)—"Just put your lips together...and blow" excuse me ma'am i'm briefly going to turn into a kettle. She's the quintessential Femme Fatale who may betray me in the end but I'd let her it'd be worth it
Pearl Bailey (Carmen Jones, St. Louis Blues, Porgy and Bess)—vintage crush of all time, the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, and my GOD the PIPES! She wasn't in nearly enough movies, but every time I see her I'm aghast all over with what a gorgeous woman she was. Vote Pearl for diva glamor like no one else! (also....she was on the Muppet Show!)
This is round 5 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Lauren Bacall:

"She is soooo neat. And hot. And everything. That one scene in To Have and Have Not where she says "you know how to whistle don't you? You just put your lips together and blow" altered my brain chemistry during media archaeology class and here we are."
youtube
"The VOICE, the SLINK, the EYES. Woof."

"Lauren Bacall was a major lesbian awakening for me. Every picture of her makes it look like she’s about to destroy you physically and emotionally (why is that so hot, I may need help). She had incredible long running chemistry with her husband, Humphrey Bogart, but was an absolute star in her own right. I’ll never be over my crush on her."
youtube
"She's got that confident, no-nonsense air about her. She's a boss babe who knows what she wants and gets it DONE. Staunch liberal Democrat her whole life. Campaigned for RFK. From Wikipedia: "In a 2005 interview with Larry King, Bacall described herself as "anti-Republican... A liberal. The L-word". She added that "being a liberal is the best thing on Earth you can be. You are welcoming to everyone when you're a liberal. You do not have a small mind."" Beautiful hair. Beautiful eyes. Beautiful lips. She's just beauty. LISTEN TO HER VOICE. TELL ME THAT'S NOT THE STUFF THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF."

"HER VOICE. Like yeah, she was absolutely stunning but oh my god, I'm obsessed with her voice"
"A gorgeous lady inside and out. One half of an absolute power couple with Humphrey Bogart, tended to him and other actors suffering from malaria whilst filming the African Queen, generally radiated grace and poise throughout her life. Also her last role was in Family Guy so she needs justice for that"

"She was stunning. Tall and beautiful with a distinctive voice and able to carry her own in a male dominated field. She won the heart of millions, including one of Hollywood's most iconic leading men, Humphrey Bogart. Their story was the stuff of legends, and the chemistry between them was apparent in the multiple films they started in together. She personified the film noir dame and yet she also adapted as Hollywood changed. Her career spanned decades, and she was honored multiple times."

Pearl Bailey propaganda:

"Pearl Bailey was an absolute POWERHOUSE! She's best known for her career in music and theater (she's a DIVINE singer, and very funny). But she also did several feature films, including a controversial adaptation of Porgy and Bess (controversial because of the story; the actors were pretty much coerced into it). She's got a style all her own, you can recognize it from a mile away. She's got you chuckling and crying from one phrase to the next. I love her <3"

Roman Empire this, Roman Empire that. I don’t really think I have a Roman Empire-
The Overwhelming Hatred of Rachel Zegler
This rising star of a 22 year old woman is being torn apart by men and women alike and I’m so tired of it.
I’m disgusted by the amount of hate she’s getting and you best believe I’m gonna lay it out. I’ve tried to organize this but I’m really tired so bear with me.
Main Controversy
Her saying that it’s no longer 1937 and Snow White doesn’t need to be saved by the prince is not her saying that women can’t want to have a husband or a family. Simply that they don’t need a man to give them value.
And to be clear, yes, okay? Yes. Women should be allowed to soft, they can want families, they don’t need to be badass to be happy. They can fit “traditional” roles. Women can want different things. Meg March, the icon that she is, “just because my dreams are different than yours doesn’t mean they’re unimportant.” 100% yes. But Rachel wasn’t saying otherwise.
She said the prince was a bit of a stalker so they’re not doing that this time… and yes? The prince was weird. I thought we agreed on that. Snow White was 14 in the original and got kissed while she was unconscious by an adult man… but sure, ✨iconic✨.
And it’s fine if you don’t like the *apparent* girlbossification of Snow White, but people are acting like Rachel wrote the movie?? Did it ever occur to people that maybe Disney wants the “girlboss independent woman who doesn’t need a man” picture presented?
She’s doing press for the movie, is she maybe taking the direction Disney gave her?? Also… we. haven’t. seen. the. movie. The teaser only just came out!
Strike Comments
Her comments being popularized during the strike is already suspicious enough. Is it not in the studio’s interests to portray the strike and those taking part in it as unreasonable?
Her saying she deserves to be paid fairly for the hours she spends in a dress playing an iconic Disney character is completely valid. She wasn’t saying she’s the most amazing actress ever or that she plays the hardest roles or does the most complicated stunts. Just that she deserves fair pay… like every other striking actor and writer??
Childhood Relationship With The Character
Her saying that Snow White scared her as a child and she didn’t revisit it until she got cast. Why does that matter so much?? There were scary things in that movie! The witch, the poison apple, the forest coming to life and trying to grab her.
Tastes change as we grow and Rachel has shared her excitement about getting to play the character now.
She was a child. *screaming*
The Extremely Different Treatment Men Receive in The Same Situations
May I present, Robert Pattinson?? Mr I hate these books and felt like I shouldn’t be reading them?? Mr Edward is creepy?
He mocked and joked about the Twilight series every chance he got and people ate it up. They loved it and still do. He’s funny, he’s confident, he’s so real for that.
Harrison Ford wanted his character to die off and said it had run its course. He was praised for his humour and honesty.
Oh but Rachel is ungrateful. She’s rude, she’s cringe, she’s mean, she’s annoying. She’s irredeemable, she’s overbearing, she’s smug, off putting. There’s just something about her that we don’t like…
She’s pitted against other successful women, like Halle Bailey. She’s pitted against Kristen Stewart. Against Elle Fanning, Jenna Ortega. Ignoring, may I point out, how hated so many of these women have been at the different points in their careers?
This is how Brie Larson is being treated and now she wants to leave Marvel too.
Women can be sarcastic. They can joke and speak their minds. They don’t have to package every thought with a pretty little bow so it’s palatable to you.
Rachel’s statements are being misinterpreted and twisted. But on top of that, even if she was what people are saying, have we forgotten about Tom Cruise? Leonardo DeCaprio?
These men are insufferable and problematic and yet some of the biggest names in the industry and, again, confident. Boss. In charge. Charismatic. Not annoying, not petty, not “oh you should be grateful you have anything!!”
Let me pull out Taylor Swift for a hot second because she does a wonderful job of describing the different ways we talk about men and women.
A man does something and it’s strategic. A woman does the same thing and it’s calculated. A man is allowed to react, a woman can only overreact. […] A man shares his experience in writing and he’s brave. A woman does the same thing and she’s over sharing, she’s over emotional, watch out!
America Ferrera when she said that the only difference between being bossy and being a boss is that one is a woman.
People need to listen to “All American Bitch” again -
I know my place, I know my place, and this is it! I don't get angry when I'm pissed I'm the eternal optimist I scream inside to deal with it All the time I'm grateful all the time I'm sexy, and I'm kind I'm pretty when I cry Oh, all the time I'm grateful all the time
And not that women need to be grateful because they don’t, but just to be clear, she is grateful.
She has expressed how lucky she was to get Shazam and how much she enjoyed it and made amazing friends. She was excited to play her version of Snow White. She shared pictures of herself as a child dressed as Snow White. She’s thrown herself into it.
Conclusions
Hate trains fun, I get it. But let’s not pile on young women when they’ve not even done anything wrong. Question why all of a sudden everyone hates this person, what are the facts, what else is going on, what confirmation bias do we have?
There is something so much worse to me about seeing other women tear her down. Like yeah, men will be pigs, but what are you doing? It’s so sad.
And women like hunting witches too, doing your dirtiest work for you, it’s obvious that wanting me dead has really brought you two together… (Mad Woman, Taylor Swift)
Rachel seems like such a joyful person and people are out here bullying her like she kicks puppies on the weekends.
Claiming to be a feminist because you want a wide variety of princesses (ie, ones that get saved by their prince), and then sending death threats to another woman for possibly appearing as though she holds a different opinion about one princess - is not only a contradiction, it’s just baffling.
Anyway stan Rachel Zegler
That’s my speech, please do contribute collaboratively if you want :).

Interview with Vanity Fair (2024)
If you looked up the phrase “booked and busy,” you’d probably find a picture of Jonathan Bailey. The British actor broke out as Lord Anthony Bridgerton, whose love story took center stage in the second season of Netflix’s eponymous hit romance. He captured even more hearts as Tim Laughlin, a McCarthy-era conservative turned radical queer leftist in Showtime’s epic limited series Fellow Travelers, and will soon star as another eligible bachelor, Fiyero, in Jon M. Chu’s two-part Wicked adaptation—a part Bailey scored after Chu found clips of the actor singing online. “The fact that it was a YouTube video that got me the job is kind of wild and incredible,” Bailey says on this week’s episode of Little Gold Men.
On top of all that, Bailey managed to return to the Ton for season three part two of Bridgerton, which begins streaming Thursday, June 13 and filmed concurrently with Fellow Travelers—which bled directly into Wicked. He remembers practicing Ozdust Ballroom choreography during lunch breaks on Travelers, wearing his buttoned-up G-man glasses and sharp haircut from the waist up—“and then it was Fame from the waist down. I’ve got terrible videos that may or may not surface in about a hundred years time—hopefully once I’ve died, because they’re so embarrassing.” But then again, there’s a poignancy to them: “Tim, if he’d been born 60 years later, may have played Fiyero in the school production of Wicked. And he would have loved the shiny boots.”
Vanity Fair: As Tim on Fellow Travelers, you evolve from a conservative, religious congressional staffer in the ’50s to a radical queer man living in the ’80s. What was it like filming that character arc? I have to imagine it would be tough to do.
Jonathan Bailey: It was an incredible challenge. For Tim, he’s talking about the idea of religion and faith and what that gives you at the beginning. And I think it seems to have equipped Tim to endure a love against all odds. He never gives up on Hawk (Matt Bomer). And Hawk becomes his sort of living religion, and something that he believes in.
I was like, I want to see a gay ingenue who’s a fish out of water—who’s itchy in his skin. It’s not like he’s doe-eyed and just sort of hapless; he’s fighting from the get-go. He does not understand why the world is the way it is. His emotions are the thing he leads with. And he’s all about truth and transparency and honesty. And I think that comes from this Catholic sort of conservative upbringing. So it’s just the most beautiful quest that he has in his life, to find absolution but also acceptance. But he never stops fighting. That’s why, to me, he’s an absolute icon.
Tim is prickly and struggling internally with his sexuality while also dealing externally with important moments in American history, from McCarthyism to the AIDS crisis. As a Brit, how familiar were you with the American history?
Not enough [laughs]. It was not included on the curriculum. But then I’m not sure it really was in America, either. This is why we’re shining a light on areas of history that conveniently haven’t been included. It’s an experience to explore a character throughout that time, but also the history of queer experience—to offer me, as Johnny, catharsis. And to be in a predominantly queer environment to tell that story. I relished it, because there’s so much that I need to understand about the privilege that I have now and the people that came before me. The fact that there’s five out gay actors leading the show is because of all the people that came before. And I’m telling you, people have been loving gay actors for years. They just haven’t been able to say that they’re gay.
We’re getting more and more queer stories and queer representation on screen, but these characters are not always portrayed by actual queer people. I think Fellow Travelers proves that it makes a big difference when you cast queer, out, gay, LGBTQ+ actors in roles that are queer.
This is so specifically exploring the queer experience over 40 years. I think there was a GLAAD report last week that was kind of disheartening, about how there’s been a decrease in queer or LGBTQ+ characters being represented…. Tim and Hawk and all the characters in this are born into a world where they have to fight. And if you’re ever having to monitor or adapt or to survive, if your first instinct is it might not work because of who I am, then that’s the difference between being a gay actor and not being a gay actor. It’s the fight.
The show wouldn’t work without your chemistry with Matt Bomer. How did you find that dynamic? Tim and Hawk’s relationship has a sub-dom dynamic, and at times it switches. There’s a power struggle. It’s complicated and nuanced and always believable.
[laughs] Well, I mean, Matt Bomer is a supreme being, and incredibly lovely and great. He’s got such a wealth of experience. We met on Zoom to do a chemistry read, and then we met in a coffee shop about a week, or even actually less than that—like, six days before we started filming. For about an hour we said, you know, this is such an opportunity. This is what we’re really excited about. It’s a great amount of trust and a free fall. But that’s the point of gay relationships: There is so much nuance, and the dynamic is so balanced because there’s no gender, There’s no—uh, what was it? Women are from Venus, men are from Mars.
The fact that the intimacy is so richly explored is so important to the gay experience. It’s something that I found really incredibly vital as well—to allow people to understand the way that men come together sexually is also directly linked to how the world communicates to them. You know, their relationship with their self-worth and their shame. Also, literally, where are the safe spaces that they can meet. Even in their own homes, in [Fellow Travelers], they had a window of how many hours until the sun came up and Hawk had to get out. Even there it’s unsafe. I loved that the intimacy had its own evolution.
I’m glad that you brought up the intimacy. It’s such an important part and of the show’s DNA, and, frankly, rare to see intimate scenes between two queer men on television. What was it like filming those scenes?
Personally, I just think, What an opportunity. It’s really exciting to be able to know that you’ve got the space to be able to show what you haven’t seen before. I remember Queer as Folk, Blue Is the Warmest Color. There’s been beautiful same-sex intimacy explored. But I think in this instance, it was how the two characters came together, but also directly reflective of what’s going on inside and the distance between what they really felt towards each other—what they felt like they could say, and also what they felt that they had to do in order to survive. That’s where the intimacy is incredibly hot.
It didn’t seem to me to be an overwhelming ask for the intimacy scenes. It felt to me that that was exactly what it should be. If you’re going to tell this incredibly bruising, tender, detailed love story that’s going to explore four moments in history, of course, you should explore the intimate dynamics. And I do think you can show so much about what’s happening with a human in those silent moments of intimacy. That’s why it’s brilliant. You know, I can see where sex scenes don’t further the plot and they don’t explore character development and they’re cynically included. With this, that was never going to happen because it was all on the page. And it’s important.

How a Total Solar Eclipse Ended Video Credit & Copyright: David Duarte
Explanation: How does a total solar eclipse end? Yes, the Moon moves out from fully blocking the Sun, but in the first few seconds of transition, interesting things appear. The first is called a diamond ring. Light might stream between mountains or through relative lowlands around the Moon's edge, as seen from your location, making this sudden first light, when combined with the corona that surrounds the Moon, look like a diamond ring. Within seconds other light streams appear that are called, collectively, Bailey's beads. In the featured video, it may seem that the pink triangular prominence on the Sun is somehow related to where the Sun begins to reappear, but it is not. Observers from other locations saw Bailey's beads emerge from different places around the Moon, away from the iconic triangular solar prominence visible to all. The video was captured with specialized equipment from New Boston, Texas, USA on April 8, 2024.

Out and About with the Bridgerton Cast in March
March was another busy month for the cast of Bridgerton, out and about during March. I may not have all work and appearances and if I have missed an appearance
To begin, Jonathan Bailey and James Phoon were continuing in their respective Shakespeare productions on stage - Jonathan in Richard II and James in Much Ado About Nothing - both of whom have received great reviews. Richard ll is on at The Bridge Theatre until 10 May. Much Ado About Nothing is on at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane until 5 April.
For new appearances lets being with our most recent lead, Nicola Coughlan who recently attended the Netrogena influencer event 'A Night of Main Character Energy' as part of her partnership with Neutrogena. In addition to attending at the Neutrogena influencer event, Nicola also attended the BFI Flare viewing of The Wedding Banquet along with Jessica Madsen, Jack Murphy, and Michelle Mao. The Wedding Banquet is a film directed by Andrew Ahn, who also directed two episodes of Bridgerton season 3 (episodes 3 and 4).
We saw some of the amazing supporting actors out and about in March. Everyone's favourite footman, Oli Higginson, performed in a workshop of Austenland the musical at The Savoy Theatre in London, Kathryn Drysdale attended the Smiley Charity Film Awards recently, Martins Imhangbe attended the European Premiere of the movei The Alto Knight and Sam Phillips began the month in a limited run of the play A Man For All Seasons at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.
Adjoa Andoh was in attendance at the press night for the play Dear England at the National Theatre during the month, and ended the month at the Dr Who season 2 premiere, for those that don't know she played Martha Jones's mother in Dr Who in the early years of the reboot. Before Adjoa had a date with The Dr she had a date with Royalty (real Royalty that is), attending a reception to launch the Queen's Reading Room Medal hosted by Her Majesty Queen Camilla, joined by His Majesty King Charles III, at Clarence House.

March was the month of Paris Fashion week and Bridgerton cast members attended some of the events. Victor Alli was the first to be seen at Paris Fashion Week when he attended the McQueen Autumn Winter 2025 show then season 1 lead Phoebe Dynevor attended the Louis Vuitton show and a day later we saw the season 2 and season 4 leads, Simone Ashley and Yerin Ha, attended the Chanel show.
During March there were a number of film premieres that Bridgerton cast members were in attendance at, in addition to the premiere that Martins attended some of the Bridgerton cast had the own movies premiere. First up, Florence Hunt attended the premiere of her new movie Mix Tape at the SXSW festival, and she was also busy with associated press and promotion, however, the two biggest movie premieres for the Bridgerton cast in March was of course Picture This starring Simone Ashley and Black Bag with Rege Jean Page.

Picture This, starring and produced by Simone Ashley released this month on Prime Video at the beginning of the month, with Simone being highly visible throughout the month with the promotion for the movie. In addition to the world premiere in London Simone also attended a special screening of the movie in New York followed by a surprise appearance at a Bollywood dance class in New York, as well as doing a number of interviews both online and on more established shows and podcasts. She also had a number of magazine interviews and photoshoots, including for Variety, and a cover for Defined and WhoWhatWear.
As mentioned above, Simone wasn't the only one who had a big movie released in March as the movie Black Bag staring Rege Jean Page was also released. As with Simone, Rene was very present with promotion for his movie in interviews and on talk shows, as well as a cover for Icon magazine. Before the release of Black Bag Rege kicked off his busy March at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.

Whew! That is alot, and as I said I am sure I have missed some appearances and work during March for our favourite Bridgerton cast members.

One Short Day in the Emerald City: My Review of Wicked (2024)
For my first post, I think it would be perfect to kick it off with a movie review - which, by the way, this blog will be 90% filled with lol - so here it goes!

It's been more a week since my friends and I saw Jon M. Chu's Wicked (2024) in theaters. It was opening weekend so you can expect the cinemas to be jam-packed. But probably my favorite part pre-movie (aside from the popcorn!) was the ongoing trend of people showing up at the cinemas in costume or following the theme of the movie. This trend is one of the reasons I love going to the cinemas versus just streaming it at home. So imagine, we arrived about 15 minutes before the start and the lobby & popcorn lines were filled with people wearing pink & green. I myself was wearing a green knitted top and pink shorts! As funny as it sounds, it literally gives life to the meme of the cinema ticket person asking what movie the person is seeing and the camera pans to the moviegoers in costume. Absolutely hilarious. (And I thank Avengers: Infinity War for starting this trend & the Barbenheimer craze for heightening it!)
Also, I wanted to add that this experience was personally special because I bumped into my favorite high school teacher of all places! We haven't seen each other in years, so this was really a delight.
(By the way, this may be a spoiler-ish review when it comes to the technicalities but in terms of the story - unless you haven't seen the Broadway musical or seen the 1939 film, then I don't know what to tell you lmao)
Now on to the movie itself... The title card!!! From there, I knew right away that this film was not just going to pay homage to the timeless classic that is The Wizard of Oz (1939), but to create a new world of Oz for this generation without losing the magic of the original. We see right away the iconic quartet walking down the famous yellow brick road, snippets of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in the music, and the dazzling Emerald City. For a semi-theater kid (I say semi because I grew up with musicals, just didn't get involved with acting in any of them at school or anything lol), I was already having goosebumps in the first few minutes.
Of course, Wicked is known for its many iconic songs that legends Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth have made timeless, but my personal favorites are "What Is This Feeling?", "Dancing Through Life", "For Good", and of course, "Defying Gravity". Now obviously with the exception of "For Good", the other three musical numbers really lived up to expectations. "What Is This Feeling?" now has the dance routine as an online trend everywhere, "Dancing Through Life" just made you want to marry Jonathan Bailey right there, and "Defying Gravity" was just mind-blowing. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande nailed it, especially with the fact that they were apparently singing that number live! I also loved Ariana's version of "Popular"; she sounds so much like Kristin but still made it her own! (Plus not to mention she feels like Sharpay Evans in another universe in that scene lol)
Now before the film came out, it was already met with a lot of criticism especially with how dull the lighting and coloring was. Now I'm not a technical expert nor do I have any kind of film knowledge in that sense, but I agree that in many scenes, the lighting and coloring could have been better. This movie was meant to be a colorful world and most musicals are supposed to be vibrant (unless of course the musical is Les Miserables or Sweeney Todd lol). I agree in that sense wherein it could've been better. Though I read somewhere that the director, Jon M. Chu wanted it to feel like a "real place" that the audience can visit so it has a more realistic rather than fantasy vibe - but if you ask me, this defeats the fact that, my brother in Christ, Oz is literally a magical land. On the other hand, I admired the fact that many of the scenes were practical sets and minimal CGI was used. For a film that pays homage to and is a prequel to one of the first films ever in technicolor, they slipped a bit on the color part but did good on the set production part.
Look, I'm biased here okay. I love Wicked so much, it's one of my favorite musicals ever, just behind The Sound of Music and Les Miserables. Seeing it come to life on the big screen has been something I've been asking for for years. I first saw the theater musical in 2013 and immediately fell in love with it, especially since it was connected to the story of Dorothy. Imagine, there is only a teeny tiny portion of the world's population who's still alive today and saw The Wizard of Oz in 1939, so this film is a whole new experience for today's generation. Jon M. Chu was the perfect director for this; after Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and In the Heights (2021), he's clearly meant for vibrant (in the literal and fictional sense) stories that pops. I'm still in awe of Cynthia and Ariana's vocals; I didn't know Ariana could hit opera-level octaves, wow. I'm so excited for Part 2 next year, and I can't wait to see what awards season will bring for this film. And I may sound like an overused tape recorder, but I have been changed for good after seeing this!
P.S. Enjoy a photo of a sticker I made on the official backdrop; isn't it prettyyy 💚

appreciation post for the little mermaid (2023) 🧜♀️🐠🌊
i can still remember the massive global hype for the live-action little mermaid because it was one of the very few live-action remakes that had the potential to be something great.
in may 2023, all eyes, i mean ALL EYES were on halle bailey. she was the most perfect person to portray ariel. her operatic, otherworldly singing voice, her adorable charm, her youthful spirit, but also her feistiness and passion. she carried the right mix of sweetness and fierceness to play ariel. i'm so happy this movie gave her a massive boost in popularity, and people got to appreciate her wonderful voice and her spirit. i hope she gets to show the movie to her son when he's older!
when she first got casted, im not sure if i remember how i felt but i had this feeling of surprise, i was like "YESSS FINALLY HALLE BAILEY IS GONNA DOMINATE THE WORLD!!!". i've always known chloe x halle since 2016, so i was going to be ride-or-die for this movie, and for halle. taking on such an iconic 35-year-old character carried a huge responsibility, and i'm so relieved the disney fandom embraced her with open arms.
the first time i saw the movie in a theater, i was in awe of rob marshall's directing and the melodious amalgam of alan menken and lin manuel miranda's combined sounds. it was the very first time they've collaborated for anything! (and yes i'm still mad that triton's new song got cut from the movie).
now, the "part of your world" scene. holy god. where do i even start with this? this was FUCKING INCREDIBLE. it's a song that everyone can relate to in so many ways. when i first saw the scene during d23 expo night in 2022, i was completely floored. halle bailey perfectly balanced all these emotions of joy, curiosity, passion, anger, frustration and discomfort, wanting for things to change, desperate to leave her world behind. it was a passionate plea, a desperate cry for help. she was shouting it out into the universe, everything she wanted for her life and her future, and everything that made ariel as a character. one of the top tier movie scenes of 2023 for me.
im so happy disney casted another unknown actor in jonah hauer-king, his solo song "wild uncharted waters" was everything! the chemistry between jonah and ariel was just so charming and i cried big time, i almost wanted to jump out of my seat when they kissed. OH AND THAT SCENE WHERE ARIEL GOT ERIC TO PRONOUNCE HER NAME WAS JUST UGGHHHH SO CUTE.
daveed diggs was freaking hilarious as thomas jefferson in hamilton, he was the true comedic backbone of the movie (sorry awkwafina). his portrayal of sebastian was younger, more original, i love his version more. i also love the all the added lore in the movie, from the coral moon to the mermaids' siren songs to the brother-sister relationship of triton and ursula. you can learn more about the worldbuilding in the tie-in guide to merfolk book.
all in all, to me, the live-action little mermaid meant everything to me, as a black girl who loved the original animated movie since childhood, and as a disney fan who believed in this re-adaptation from the very adapation. in spite of everything, i still have some pretty high hopes for snow white. rachel zegler and halle bailey will always be my disney princesses.
GOD BLESS YOU ROB MARSHALL FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!

Today I wanna take a break, because it is Pride Month and we lost an icon sadly far, far too quietly. Made me realize I don't think I've really heard much about Lynn Conway in queer circles for a long time. And honestly? That's fucked. If anyone deserves to be held up as a trans luminary of the past century it's her. I wish I had the knowledge of computer chips to fully explain how landmark her contributions were in her career, but truth is her story as a trans woman is what's truly fascinating.
If I have the details right, tried to transition during college in the 50s but ran into hurdles. Then got a job at IBM, fired when she sought out Harry Benjamin (another important name y'all need to quit glossing over) and was one of his patients in the late 60s. Transitioning before 30 and if I may say, being quite attractive...even when I was coming out in the 00s the general wisdom was if you could go "stealth" and just start over you should. Which Lynn did. Then went on to make some groundbreaking waves in computer chip design and really had this hellacious 30-year career as just a woman breaking barriers in tech. Keep in mind no one knew she was trans, ain't no way she'd have ended up working with Reagan's DoD on some Cold War defense tech if that was public knowledge.
Then at the end of her career, a new chapter began. Got out ahead of realizing some people were about to make the connection to her time at IBM so came out publicly through a website I remember being a pivotal find in my own journey. It was one of the best collection of resources out there and her story was one of the first ones I saw where you could transition and not be stuck in some small box forevermore because of it. You can shrug off the blowback and get on with your life. Ever heard of Blanchard & Bailey, the Autogyneophilia guys TERFs love to quote? Conway was a prominent academic speaking out against their dodgy methodology as well. Her lengthy and through takedown of that Man Who Would Be Queen book is fuckin legendary. Honestly, if you can find the old archived pages from her website it's worth a read. We don't really have many stories of like, a long life after transition without also being a mainstay of the community the whole time. There's a lot she'd get roasted for today, but generally for the wrong reasons because holy shit is my revisit showing so much honesty and stuff I've needed to hear at a similar point. We get so focused on the actual coming out and exploring and transitioning phase people miss that's just the baby steps on a lifelong journey. I miss how straightforward this old guard could be. In my experience queer youth today love it but it will absolutely enrage the late-blooming final wave of my own generation who lack so much perspective on how little the difference makes at this point.
I know it's fun to raise up queer names who were outlaws and radicals, everyone loves the (false) story of Marsha Johnson throwing the first brick at Stonewall more than her tireless decades of boring organizing. We like our fabulous and festive faces, but honestly...younger generations of trans folk should probably pay a little more attention to stories like Lynn Conway's where we actually do sometimes get to just have a "normal" and highly successful bulk of our lives after the identity struggle. So far ahead of her time it took until my own generation for us to see the whole having an experience more like hers.

Throughout the past year, I've had the opportunity to visit several stunning historic theaters across the country. Some of my favorite theaters include the Carpenter Theater in Richmond, the Temple Theatre in Saginaw, the Grenada Theater in Santa Barbara, and the Palace Theater in Waterbury. While many may not consider touring theaters when visiting cities, these venues offer a remarkable insight into entertainment history. Most of these theaters were constructed in the 1920s, initially serving as vaudeville houses before transitioning into movie theaters with Wurlitzer organs accompanying silent films and eventually returning to hosting live performances.
The Palace Theater, with its luxurious tomato-red velvet curtain, has hosted a myriad of iconic performers over the years, from Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Jackie Gleason to Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead.
In 1924, during a performance by magician Harry Houdini, a crew had to cut an 8-foot-wide hole in the stage floor for a trap door. The hole was later patched up. Unfortunately, when Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus visited, an elephant named Shirley fell through the patched hole from Houdini’s act several years earlier. Sadly, the management had to put the animal down as they could not rescue it. Shirley, the elephant, is now part of Palace Theater lore as one of the four friendly spirits that supposedly haunt the theater.
In contrast to today's black box-style theaters designed to accommodate various stage productions, these historic theaters, with their gleaming neon marquees, elegant lobbies, gold detailing, crystal chandeliers, and Art Deco carvings, were solely intended to transport their audiences from the mundane of everyday life to a magical world. The sumptuous plushness of the velvet seats instantly makes you feel like you're about to experience something extraordinary.
During the pandemic, people stopped attending live shows for health and financial reasons. Still, they continued to stream music, films, and TV in record numbers, proving that entertainment is a necessary commodity. There was a prevailing notion that live theater was a luxury. If that notion still holds, creating elaborate, glamorous theater spaces that encourage people to dress up, celebrate, and experience the joys of life is truly invaluable.
Watching performances by Itzhak Perlman and Rohan De Silva in these beautiful settings is a treasure.

Clarification and everything to know about the blog, me, my url, what I like, etc (Last update: 07/13).
First of all, if you have any questions, even if you already read this, feel free to ask. My inbox is always open as long as the messages are respectful.
Introduction: Hi, I am Domy. I'm Brazilian I'm 18+. I have autism and ADHD. I'm gender-fluid. I'm trans. I'm pansexual. My pronouns are they/she. In languages that have both, like English, I use neutral and/or feminine pronouns. In languages that don't have a neutral pronoun or the neutral pronoun is the same as the masculine, I only use the feminine pronoun (for example, in Portuguese I don't use "ele" or the neologism "elu", just "ela"). You can use any pronouns you want, I only ask that you use neutral nouns or alternate between feminine, masculine and neutral ones. Person, someone, somebody, individual, human, bruh, bruv, girl, woman, sis, dude, bro are all valid. As long as you don't use always/only woman and girl, I won't be offended. Also, as a neurodivergent and non Native English speaker, I also encourage the use of tone indicators to avoid confusion. You don't need to use it very time, you can just do it like me and add them only sentences that could accidentally be interpreted as an argument. I appreciate that.
My blog/url: I am NOT @sizeofyoursoul or @sizeofyoursouls. We are just three different people who accidentally ended up with similar urls. We've talked about it and don't have a problem with it. I follow, enjoy them and their posts and we all have a respectful relationship. I also only use one blog, my main one. I don't post from anywhere else.
How to differentiate us and identify me: We have different icons, (nick)names, themes, pinned posts, etc. We post about different stuff. Even if we talk about similar things or share opinions, we speak in our own way, we use different words and our writing style is not the same. We also don't speak all the same languages.
About me changing to a new account: I've moved here a few months ago and I'm still catching up on following my mutuals, so if you see me on your notifications and get confused, just know this is a new account. In case you don't remember me with this current address, my previous urls were itsallofthecolors, undefined-love, embrace-and-love, adamnablelittledevil and thecourtoflionsandwolves. I used to have Demi Lovato, Faouzia, Bailey Bass, Hailee Steinfeld, Delainey Hayles as icons as well.
You may also recognize me for posting about and being interested in: Demi Lovato, Faouzia, My Chemical Romance, Pedro Pascal, Interview With the Vampire, The Vampire Chronicles, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, A Song of Ice and Fire, Pose, Severance, Squid Game, The Handmaid's Tale, The Good Doctor, The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, Jane the Virgin, Ted Lasso, Smallville, Shadow and Bone, Grishaverse and Dickinson. Or my favorite characters and ships like Armand, Lestat de Lioncourt, Claudia, Louis de Pointe du Lac, Daniel Molloy, Louis x Lestat, Lestat x Armand, Brienne of Tarth, Jaime Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Sansa Stark, Tommen Baratheon, Podrick Payne, Jaime x Brienne, Will Byers, Will x Mike, Claire Browne, Claire x Shaun, Joel Miller, Din x Omera, Jane x Michael, Jamie Tartt, Jamie x Roy, Chloe Sullivan, Clark x Chloe, Malina, Alina Starkov, Mal Oretsev and Emily x Sue.
At this moment both my laptop and cellphone are broken and I don't have access to any tool to log in on Tumblr. I am also facing some problems in private life that I cannot talk about right now. I don't know when I will be able to fix or buy at least one new device. Right now I can only borrow someone's phones for a few minutes here and there. For that reason, I use my very short time on the internet to search for some news, briefly check tags, see notifications and send quick messages. I will definitely answer everybody properly when I return for good, but right now I can't give substantial replies to messages or have long conversations. So if you see me online and reblogging one or two posts, it doesn't mean I am ignoring you, it's just that I logged in on Tumblr very briefly and couldn't do much. And you guys know I'm famous for rambling and writing long texts, so I can't do that in just a couple minutes that somebody lends me their phone and am able to use the internet. But, again, I am NOT ignoring you and I WILL eventually answer everyone, with the proper and thoughtful answer you deserve, when I am finally fully back. I PROMISE!
I am NOT leaving. Whether it takes me one day, week, month or year, I WILL return. In order to avoid saying the same thing over and over, I will pin this post and only share more in case I have news. Right now, everything is still the same so I don't have anything else to say. I'll speak more when something changes. I am NOT saying goodbye, leaving, deactivating or deleting this blog, I swear. All I ask is that you don't assume I'm gone be patient with me, please! In case anything changes I will speak again, but this is my current situation. I WILL be back, promise! Thank you! 🩷

Irish Coffee: The Magic Made When Two Connoisseurs Collaborate

In my last post, I covered the history of Coffee and Cocktails, discussing its history, importance, and methodology. With that, it seems fitting to follow such an act with a deeper exploration of perhaps one of the most influential choices for this category since the Second World War, the Irish Coffee.
When combining coffee with cocktails, many aim for a sweet pairing to smooth out the bold flavor that coffee often carries, such as Kahlua or Bailey's Irish Cream. Irish coffee, however, lives as proof that sometimes embracing the bold and complementing it with additional notes works just as effectively in many cases, if not better.

Irish Whiskey, known for its signature triple-distillation process, is iconic in its own right, oftentimes being irresistibly smooth while carrying faint notes of certain spices, fruits, and even vanilla. Despite its punch, these attributes alone make it ideal for this cocktail. In the world of Irish Coffee, Jameson is typically the brand of choice, as it tends to represent all of these attributes quite reliably. Now you may be asking:
"Baron, surely it can't be as simple as combining coffee and Whiskey, can it?"
My answer to you would be technically yes, it is that easy, but to master this beverage is something else entirely, as the primary two ingredients are only half of the battle, it seems. The other piece would go to other ingredients. Many call for the cream to be prepared a certain way, whether that is aged, whipped, frothed, or a combination of any two or three of those options, as well as the addition of other syrups, liquers, and sugars.
One of the most well-known instances of Irish Coffee comes from The Buena Vista, in San Francisco, which claims to be the first to sell the drink in the United States.

This all amounts to personal preference more than anything, but I'll detail how I would make the ideal Irish Coffee.
First, the coffee. I'd choose a low-acidity blend of Arabica through an espresso machine, as this method and combination, similar to my Affogato, would yield a perfect extraction for a drink where coffee is only a piece of the puzzle. Pour four ounces of espresso into a stemmed toddy glass as shown above, followed with a shot of our Irish Whiskey, which in this case will be Jameson Black Barrel, as it's notes of spice and vanilla will compliment the coffee and cream layers quite well.
Afterwards, use a heavy cream that has been aged for two days and heavily frothed to keep an airated texture that holds its form on top of the liquid layers underneath. After carefully layering the cream into the glass, sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top for additional flavor and garnish, and you have an incredible Irish Coffee ready to be enjoyed.
When it comes to how exactly to enjoy it, Irish Coffee is meant to be sipped through the cream, as that provides the fullest flavor and experience. Many agree that stirring the cocktail completely ruins it
Whether that bit is superstition rooted in years of tradition or genuine truth, many can agree that in the shared world of coffee brewing and cocktail mixing, the devil is in the details, especially when one's goal is to create a caffeinated concoction worthy of royals.

Interview with LADBIBLE (2024)
When it comes to some of the most globally talked about TV series, the list seems endless. With the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus and not to mention all the British channels, it seems like there’s always a new show that everyone’s loving.
And one series that has consistently provided viral moments along with banging drama is of course The White Lotus.
Two seasons in so far and with a third on the way, it’s brought us iconic casts, jaw-dropping storylines and, well, plenty of sex.
The next season (not due until 2025) is set to star the likes of Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michelle Monaghan and Jason Isaacs.
Previous casts had of course included Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James, Sydney Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza and Leo Woodall.
But can you imagine how iconic the show would be if it had characters from other shows in it? Well, Jonathan Bailey can at least.
The star of Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers spoke to LADbible ahead of this weekend’s BAFTA Television Awards 2024 about all things telly and revealed which of his characters he’d like to combine with another show.
Throwing things back, the 36-year-old says he’d like to put his character Sam, from Crashing, into the world of The White Lotus.
Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the 2016 show follows the lives of six twenty-somethings living together as property guardians in a disused hospital.
Bailey played Sam, the ‘sex-obsessed’ friend, and the star explained: “He would tear up – he probably would f**k everyone, or want to or try to.
“I think he would go absolutely insane in a hotel resort; he would hate being stuck in one place and therefore be really annoying but sort of hopefully arouse everyone.”
The Broadchurch actor calls the hit show an ‘actor’s fantasy’ and has quite the dream cast for a season: “Sandra Hüller, Ian McKellan, Patty LuPone, Daniel Lawrence Taylor, Michaela Cole and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.”
Like most of us, Bailey loves a bit of reality TV too and credited The Traitors for giving one of his top TV moments of the last year. “It’s the moment of Jaz, Molly and Harry at the end is wild. And also, maybe just Paul, or just a montage of Claudia – all of it I think is the moment of the year.”
Same, Bailey, same.
And while the star appearing in The White Lotus might seem like a dream for now, fans will know he’ll soon be appearing in Bridgerton again (16 May) with him describing the third season as ‘going back into that horny, horny world’.
