a "parent", then, is less of a caretaker and something in between a teacher and mentor figure. a hatchling will imprint onto an adult or group of adults and learn from them, which includes eating with them, sleeping with them, and generally forming a close bond. it's much less strict than a nomai parenting bond, and contains both less and more work, in a way, since the care of young tadpoles is up to village caretakers and the teaching of skills is up to what i call "parents". which may not even be the best term but it sounds cute

solanum, in my au, does understand this. however due to her nature as a nomai, who have much stricter and more enclosed familial ties, she sort of latches onto one parental figure to feel secure. this is gossan, naturally having been (semi begrudgingly LMAO) babysitting duty. she's their hatchling, technically, since they train her, though they haven't the foggiest what she thinks of them as. they have w couple chats, work something out, and they agree to ... whatever it is. the thing it's some sort of job title. it sort of is.

Jokes aside, I really like how.... flexible? A potential character/friendship/relationship dynamic between them would be. What I mean by that, is the fact that you can explore a TON of things surrounding them, and it'd bounce so easily because of them being opposites (yet also being similar).

I've always had a knack for shipping two characters when they have these subtle, yet present opposites/parallels/mirroring between their characterization.

For example, a bunch of the promotional art has them acting like these,

And not only is it entertaining to see them in these kinds of situations, everytime I see them 'interacting', my brain starts to think of ways in where 1) how a scene would play out if at least ONE of them cared for the other, and 2) how they both could find a middle ground that allows them to balance each other out based on just these snippets.

Don't forget the absurd amounts of potential hurt/comfort angsts too, especially in the theory space.

Since Pomni is the main protagonist who helps others in her own way, and Caine is the main antagonist who slowly sinks deeper into helplessness and insanity as the cast ignores/are blissfully unaware of the warning signs, well....

TL;DR: It's so fun to experiment with their dynamics-- ex. extrovert x introvert --especially in AU formats, and that's why I tend to gravitate towards them specifically.

Well, I was reading about mormonism (yes i know there's an acronym and loads of mormons get pissed if you don't use it. however acronyms do not work with my brain and i do not really care) and their views on sexuality!

Someone was talking about how they teach classes for mormon newlyweds and how they always get people really surprised and hesitant because growing up, they're often taught how sex outside of marriage is a sin, how "chastity" isn't just abstinance, but a mindset and even has a dress code and things like masturbation are often referred to as "self-pleasure" (deragatory) or "self-abuse" and then they get married and kind of flounder when it comes to sex.

But she's telling them have sex, now that you're married, the church encourages it!

But after hearing extensively on how sex (outside of marriage) is a sin, chastity is the highest holiness, etc, for some reason (LMAO) newlyweds aren't always super hyped to have sex, even though (according to her), mormonism would encourage their (heterosexual/married) sex and is actually suuuper body-positive, you just have to wait until you're married to get to that part of it!

And like, especially considering what type of things are usually taught (through mormonism) about people's bodies and the white supremacy aspects, along with homo/transphobia tied in, I think it'd be really interesting to learn how that's affected different areas internationally.

Because obviously it has-It's not like it's a secret that mormonism has been involved in plenty of sex education suppression, much like many other religions and cults. And its not like its especially different from certain other sects of christianity but there's something about it that does genuinely interest me!

It crops up in such specific areas internationally and the ideas of chastity within the mormon church are extremely intense and focused in a way that I'm really interested in not just in how it's affected the suppression of sex education but people's understanding and relationship to sex.

I want to be a fly on the wall for the jam session that took place after Margie spent the night. Does Raf ask her why she left? What's her explaination?

During this jam meet-up, Raf doesn't try to corner her into confirming to him that she's unhoused. He gets why she'd be reluctant to give him that kind of information abt herself.

He gets her to crash at his place a couple more times over thr next week or so until he finally give her a set of her own keys to the apartment as an "early christmas gift". And actually--Margie refuses to take them at first, going into full word vomit over how worried she is abt straining their relationship, because all she really wants is someone to play music with--and she overshares all the unflattering tmi details about what makes her a difficult person to live with and why she's usually considered to be a poor roommate lmao

And Raf is like "cool, I don't care." and promises to be real straight forward with her if he doesn't think the roommate thing is gonna work out, assuring her that he has the same interest as she does in preserving their relationship as jam partners. Even if rooming with him doesn't work out, they'll still meet every thursday, no hard feelings. So long as she doesn't, like...sell all his shit while he's at work or smth. Raf is like "I've already considered and mentally prepared for all the worst case scenarios and the bar is in hell but we'll prolly get on fine."

But yeah, I don't think Raf ever explicitly asks if Margie is homeless, and Margie never actually admits that she is.

Finally caught up with Malevolent, and while I do still believe that John's attempts on Oscar's life had more to do with whatever his deal with Kayne was than pure jealousy over Arthur, I think it's so funny that Arthur believes that John loves him with such a childish and possessive desire that he's willing to kill anyone else who might get close to him and is just like...

welp, I guess I'll indulge that.

I mean, I know from his perspective he's like "well, John is my responsibility and I love him and if I don't keep others away from me right now, John will kill them and I couldn't stand that" but from my perspective it sounds an awful lot like "you'll kill anyone I start to love as much as I love you? fair enough!"

I do really think, though, that John understands how much it hurt Arthur to give up Oscar and he wouldn't have made him do it for as petty a reason as Arthur believes. I think John was very much telling him the truth when he said that all that matters to him is Arthur and getting to the Fallen Star. I just think that the latter is probably in some strange service to the former.

Like I do think there's definitely some selfishness in his deal with Kayne, but I got the impression that whatever he chose to do, it was at least partially for Arthur's sake. I could be wrong, of course, but that was the vibe I felt.

...though, to be fair, I do think that John does feel deeply insecure about Arthur's relationship with Oscar. He does dislike sharing Arthur's trust with a human who might be able to give him more than he can; I just don't think that was his primary reason for trying to kill him. Also, I really don't think we're seeing the end of Oscar, who seems to believe that Arthur is his life's true purpose handed down to him by God himself. Oscar asking about John just makes me think that's not nearly as over with as John seems to think. Ren disappears from the home screen because he promised to help the player out (and stop them from getting the Dead End again). Try replaying the game again from the beginning for a surprise!

"Unsent Memories" was another visual novel (initially being written by @10chimes / @unsentmemory, though the project has since been dropped and handed back to me /pos) and is set in the same universe as 14 Days With You. Liberals say a lot of dumb shit, but if you're going to bother critiquing it then you need to understand what they're trying to say in the first place. Like "Late Stage Capitalism" isn't an especially useful or coherent term, but you can't dismiss it with "just say Imperialism" because that is very obviously not what people are talking about when they use it. Even just by contemporary usage, you should notice how it's nearly always employed by people complaining about declining quality of life (i.e. cuts to social safety nets, reduced domestic regulations, growing mismatch between costs of living and wages) within the Imperial Core. You never hear left liberals use it to discuss even the most obviously evil manifestations of Imperialism (i.e. coups and election subversion, "unjust" invasions, dropping napalm on children etc.) that even they are willing to criticise sometimes. In the contemporary discourse, it's functionally just a way to critique Neoliberalism by comparing it to Social Democracy- both are still equally Imperialist systems. Like "The Highest Stage of Capitalism" is consistently used by ML to mean imperialism, while "Late Stage Capitalism" is mostly used by Liberals to complain about getting an insufficient share of the loot.

There's also a need to consider that the idea of "Late Stage Capitalism" wasn't even popularised by left liberals; they merely adopted it and became its most enthusiastic users/abusers. The original use of the term "Late Capitalism" was in the early 20th century by reactionary (but Marxist influenced) German sociologist Werner Sombart to describe the state of capitalism in his time. However, by the 1960s it was most popular among members of the Frankfurt school of Marxism when discussing the features of the Post WW2 era. Its first popular use in English was in the 1975 translation of the thesis Late Capitalism by Belgian Trotskyist Ernest Mandel, but the person who popularised it the most was probably USamerican Marxist Frederic Jameson. When you treat "Late Stage Capitalism" as just the Liberal version of "Highest Stage of Capitalism" because the two phrases sound kinda similar, it's criticism of the most superficial and idealist type. I also say a while ago, because I actually did update the sprite sheet on TSR at least, I think right before the release of Deltarune on like June 3rd or 4th. I do apologize for not updating you people on Tumblr, though. But that's because...

I was working on a drawing of my design, to go with the update post! But sadly I wasn't able to finish it on time, which bummed me quite a bit, not gonna lie. Probably contributed to me not bothering with updating. What compelled me to do so now, though? I just simply wanted to check on my Tumblr activity today, and was really surprised seeing the original post still gaining traction to this day! And a lot!! Thank you guys so much, seeing people still care about this dated and irrelevant (at least I assume) design made me feel a lot better. Enough to actually want to update finally.

New idea.

The entire world has been turned into animal like creatures. They still walk on two legs (most of them) and they're still human in form really. Some have only ears, some have only a tail, some have fur, some has the eyes.

Some even have all three.

There was a lot of outrage about this, mostly from shock, fear of the unknown and sudden change. Unfortunately, the government couldn't do anything about it, nor could the Justice League.

It was just... natural as it was unnatural.

In fact, it even seemed to be beneficial to everyone. Some adapted better to certain climates, some developed remarkable better immune systems than they did before and it seemed certain types of parasites and diseases just stopped affecting them entirely.

All in it, it was a beneficial change, one that the government saw no need to interfere with or ask the Justice League to find a way to revert this change.

Even if everyone needed to adjust to the sudden... shift.

Somehow, by no grace of will of his own, Vlad found himself with basically everything. He has the ears, the tail, the chest fur and fur along his arms and legs and he even has the eyes.

Now you see, this wouldn't be that much of a problem actually.

If this mysterious shift in his biology didn't deem him a bunny. A prey animal and, nothing against bunnies, personally, he just wished he was given something more...

Like Lex Luthor-as much as he loathed to admit it-, who became a fox of all things. Honestly, a perfect example of his character if Vlad had to say anything, his cunning and deceitfulness.

Let alone the man's intellect...

Although, it did look a tad odd to see furred appendages on that man's rather... shiny head.

Such things aside, Vlad has not attended a gala in a mighty long while after the change and he already knew it would look like he was too off put by his change, or embarrassed by what animal he was given and yes, he was a tad bit embarrassed about it but unlike them he was working on a cure.

Something that provided, perhaps unsurprisingly, zero results.

Vlad did not take the government's choice lying down, he believed himself smarter, superior to whatever they have working away for them in their labs, and proved that he could create something that would give him back his human status.

Well, half-human, but that was besides the point.

He failed. So what did he do? Figure out how exactly it affected his biology, special case that he was only 3 in the world and, contrary to his expectations... it went very well? While his animal traits did indeed follow him into his ghost form, he could shift until he appeared exactly how he was before.

Small mercies. His identity wouldn't be any harder to realize than it was before, thanks to this.

He was so caught up in this, in fact, that he was surprised when Lex Luthor came out of hiding a month ago. Honestly, he would've thought he wouldn't have seen the light of day for at least a few years. So obviously, Vlad had to come out of hiding as well, and even if Vlad disliked his bunniness, it was an infinitely smaller feeling than the urge to cause Lex Luthor pain and misery.

It wasn't exactly a surprise to see the little badger being, well, a badger. A bit to see that he basically shared every trait Vlad had, if only in badger form.

But that isn't the point. The event he needed to attend-to spit (metaphorically) in Lex's stupid face- needed him to have a plus one or multiple, so what better person to go with him than his godson?
