I wish people could understand that both Babe and Charlie are two emotionally-stunted people who grew up without love, who both are in their first romantic relationship and have zero idea what the fuck they're doing. They don't have parental models for how to show love, how to foster trust, or how to communicate openly and effectively.

Babe's dad made a mistake and decided the best way to deal with it would be to fake his death and never talk to his son again. Charlie was literally locked in a room for most of his childhood.

Babe triggered Charlie's childhood trauma by joking about moving onto someone else. Charlie triggered Babe's childhood trauma by faking his death.

Their relationship has been volatile from the very beginning. They broke up like three times in the first season ffs. They have both hurt each other, and they are both going to keep hurting each other, because their story is about two deeply imperfect people trying to make it work without any idea of what "making it work" looks like.

I don't know why parts of the audience are so insistent on finding someone to blame, instead of just trying to understand where these characters are coming from. Like I'll be honest with y'all, I'm not a CharlieBabe shipper, I have little emotional investment in them, but I think their story is such a good example of ways that trauma can inform our actions and our words beyond "hyperventilating in the fetal position," and I wish ppl cared more about that than about who deserves to be cancelled.

I've said it once and I'll say it a hundred times, there is more to media criticism than just saying what you dislike, and someone offering an explanation for a character's actions isn't "shutting down criticism," it's just them expecting you to care more about character analysis than making zingy one-liners.

Like, there’s Chase, Cameron, Foreman, and also Damian.

I think House would have immediately taken Damian, he’s smart, quick, good in a crisis, and also rude. Kid’s got a chip on his shoulder that House would have fun picking at and needling.

If this is the House Universe, look, the early 2000s was rife with a lot of jokes that were not acceptable. The specific brand of unacceptable House would go with would be the same kind of racism he leveled at Foreman. But oddly, also the same type of criticism he leveled at Cameron for caring, because the kid never wants to operate on animals and is staunchly against animal testing. He’s also got a complicated relationship with his family, who I think would constantly drop by to see him, get hurt and need medical attention, or could even serve as one of their cases, so he covers some of Chase’s narrative too because of family complications. Also both Damian and House are well traveled from missions and being moved around respectively.

I think Wilson and Dick would somehow meet and trade tips and tricks over expressing emotions in healthy ways, it’s okay to be vulnerable/empathetic, that kind of thing.

I think House would take one look at Bruce and decide even if it’s Daddy’s money, if it’s getting him away from whatever other plans the guy has for him, it’s enough. Either he’s an absolute airhead or House actually catches the guy during his stoic/silent routine. I also think Bruce is the type of overprotective that would buy the hospital (if he doesn’t already own it) and instead of acting like Vogler, wouldn’t care if House didn’t comply with a lot of standards/policies. Or if he figured out the guy was an addict like Tritter/before Tritter, Bruce would sit his ass down and have a talk* about House’s options.

I think it would be difficult to fully capture the feel of House M.D. without the problematic parts of the show, but that Damian would oddly fit right into the chaos.

*More like loose threats about things House is going to pick from that involve him getting clean in some capacity and almost any caveats House would agree to because this is all for Damian and Bruce would do anything for his kids.

(Even if it is letting their new mentor have in-home rehab that’s run by a different doctor whose specialty is cancer and a couple of hookers Jason knows from Crime Alley.)

Well, since The Pitt got me to remember this blog existed let me go on a little rant about my favorite girl, doctor Trinity Santos.

Ok, so imagine you are minding your business on twitter when suddenly for a few days straight you keep seeing tweets about this evil female character who was very awful to some dude who everyone was up in arms about defending. So you decide on a whim to go back to your roots and watch a medical show again to see what kind of Shauna Shipman esque atrocities this woman must have commited to have such a reputation.

And then imagine my surprise when said evil female character is just a socially awkward loser, desperate for connection but who just sucks at it and goes about it the worst possible way. Who decides to give people nicknames because that should make her cool and intimidating in her scary first day at this hospital but who is also not cruel enough to choose actually bad nicknames for people so she just comes up with the silliest most harmless nicknames possible.

Someone who clearly struggles with male authority figures but will shut up and listen to whatever a woman in power tells her. Who is a little too eager to prove herself and show her worth that she fucks things up sometimes and embarrasses herself but who also owns up to everything she does. Who takes the fall for someone else's mistake because oh well, why have the mean resident yell at 2 people when he can just yell at her. Who, in the one time she actually crosses the line into saying something cruel out of frustration, immediately feels bad and takes it back. Someone who is fiercely protective of the innocent and aggressive towards the assholes around her.

Someone who came from an environment where you are expected to shut up and do as you're told and still found the courage to speak up and protect the patients when someone was abusing his power and hurting them, no matter how liked he was and how scary it was to do so.

She will call you a dumb nickname and tell you not to annoy her as she literally offers you a place to stay because she is ultimately kind and has a good heart but doesn't want to be perceived that way.

Anyway anyway I am fascinated by dr. Santos and can't wait to see more of her next season and to continue arguing with losers on reddit to defend her
