How does Tumblr function as a digital community?

Tumblr is a platform for sharing brief material, photographs, and other kinds of information, in addition to being a social media and microblogging site. Tumblr is a hybrid of a blog and a social networking platform, similar to Facebook and Twitter. Compared to other social networks, Tumblr appears to have a younger user base. A Tumblr blog requires you to be at least 13 years old to register. There are currently 300 million monthly users on Tumblr, with around 53.5% of visits being female and 50% of users under 25. The amount of traffic to Tumblr is increasing at a rate of 74% annually. Furthermore, there are more than 300 million distinct visitors each month

In many respects, this platform serves as a digital community.

Microblogging and Rich Content: Users can post brief messages that include GIFs, videos, photos, and text. As a result, people have a quick and varied place to express their thoughts, produce material, and engage with others.

Hashtags and Search: Hashtags are a useful tool for users to help organize material and make searching easier. This facilitates the development of linkages between users and postings about related subjects.

Special Topics and Communities: Through particular topics, users can take part in special communities. This creates places where people may meet and engage with one another who share their interests, viewpoints, or needs.

Content Freedom: Tumblr is well-known for both its variety and content freedom. It is encouraged for users to creatively and personally express who they are and what they think.

All of these elements together create a unique and creative community on Tumblr. A place where users not only share opinions and art but also connect through common interests and hobbies. Tumblr is a place that values creativity and independence in addition to being a media platform.

Tumblr's vulnerability With a large number of users, including children from 13 years old. Too many images and sensitive content on Tumblr are the result of loose control and unclear usage regulations. Pornography also appears. This affects many users. It also cannot meet the standards of the iOS app store. Since December 2018, Tumblr has banned the posting of any sexually explicit material. Thanks to that, Tumblr is back on the iOS platform, but it comes at a price: more than 100,000 accounts have disappeared, and that number will continue to increase.

File Collector

I love the find_merged_cc created by Ktar & Kitlith.  It captures all the cc and sliders used by your sims! But I am such a lazy busy person, so I asked my husband to program a little helper for me, It will copy all the files according to your list and create a folder for them.

How to use：

unzip the zip file to the folder where you storage your packages  

double click "input.txt" and paste the list generated by Ktar's program or any other file list, and save.

double click to run "file collector.exe," which will then generate a new "output" folder

go get your copied files in the folder!

What you should know:

it only searches for the files within single folder, no sub-folders detected.

don't change the name of "input.txt"

the name of the files must be 100% identical to those on the list, including the extension

it also applies to files of other format, not package-limited.

Tumblr: Social Media or Blog.

We often find ourselves trying to find a definition for things so as to give meaning to everything around us as this is just one of our many obsessions as human beings. So I am going to start this post by satisfying your wants and defining two terms we have in the title of this post – Social media and Blog.

According to Hudson .M (2017), Social media is any website or application designed to support sharing of content between user quickly, efficiently and real-time. On the other hand, Minayev .A(2018) defined Blog (Weblog) as a frequently updated online diary or personal journal where you can express yourself to the whole world, share your thought, your feelings and your passions and ideas. He went further to state that a blog is a personal website that one can create to update the world or a select set of people on an ongoing basis of your life.

Now we have an idea of what a social media site and a blogging site should afford us, let’s go ahead and find out what Tumblr really is. From the definitions above, we can deduce that a blogging site is definitely going to be more text centred than a social media site because it’s a journal – like a story about one's experiences whereas on a social media platform we would expect to see more variety between audio, video, pictures, text, gifs and any other form of data being shared over the internet I did not mention.  According to Stringfellow .A(2013), Tumblr is a microblogging site and social networking site that permits users to create custom blogs, post multimedia and text as a blog post, comment on posts, like posts, repost and follow other blogs. It also has a main user interface page, the landing page that is basically a feed of posts which make it feel very much like a social media network. Honestly, this quite does justice and simultaneously does not do justice to the whole argument. I have been on Tumblr for a few weeks not and I can testify that Stringfellows’ view of the network is accurate and by so doing has given us the verdict.

We have come to the end of this blog and it is time for me to pick a side between Tumblr being a social media network and Tumblr being a Blogging site and I am just going to come out here and say it is a combination of both. I would like to declare that Tumbler is a Social Blog.
