a / n : in this mini HCS it's mainly just how I think he'd be with a plus size / overweight reader !! I'm personally plus size / overweight n thought this would be a sweet little treat for the other bigger people who love this dork

I will say this is kinda all over the place. it's 4:30 am, I'm sleepy and shaky bc of insomnia n this is mainly just some sweet fluff. most is just them in their relationship too :3

Let's be honest this boy will love just about anyone. doesn't matter looks as much as it does personality.

when he first meets you how you hold yourself — whether confident or shy — he takes interest!! this boy bout falls in love with you when you hug him for the first time months into the blooming friendship.

Bolin can understand insecurity. he sometimes feels he isn't enough either so if you're insecure about your chubby body, or your possibly any part of your body that you've deemed 'too big', he's very understanding and suggests talking to him about it.

he really cares, he wants to be there for you like you are for him so when he notices this insecurity he's quick to tell you he's there.

"just so you know, you can always talk to me you know?"

once you feel comfortable telling him about these insecurities — if you have them — he's listening with a caring stare and a hand on yours as he listens so intently. he never forgets what you said and always tries to pay attention to the parts you're insecure about, said parts becoming his absolute favorites when he looks at you.

if you're not insecure he doesn't mind either!!! he loves that you view yourself so well and that it doesn't affect you!! it makes him extremely happy that you're comfortable in your own skin because it means you're not struggling with this specific part. if you struggle occasionally and Bolin learns of this he's quick to come to comfort and remind you how pretty you are.

dates are fun!! he loves park dates but he prefers a nice date at home. don't get him wrong he loves going out to eat, he loves showing you off even more. but having the comfort of sitting on the couch, eating something homemade or takeout, maybe a mover is put on or you're both listening to the radio while cuddling.

Bolin himself , in my opinion , has a bit of a chub on his belly. it's more like muscle that's soft that looks like chub than actual chub/fat but still. he almost giggles if you like to play with his 'chub', even finds it affectionate when you do it and often will give you kisses in return

his favorite activity ever to do is to cook together. personally I don't think he's a great cook, ask him to cook something and it's likely a little burnt but he can boil water!! though seriously he's an ok cook, he's better at being the one to chop things up and let you cook than being the one seasoning or mixing things up.

he loves to hold you from behind with his hands holding your sides softly while he rocks you both side to side as you'd focus on cooking the meal. he'd finished prepping all the ingredients for you a couple moments ago and now continued his routine of cuddling you, rocking side to side like her always did. it was always comforting and a nice way to spend time together.

he loves to be the big spoon with you!! he loves to hold you close and softly pepper the back of your neck in kisses as he focuses on helping you fall right to sleep.

When zuko first settled in Ba Sing Se with his uncle,he didn't expect an oddly friendly girl to take initiative in talking to him.

His cold demeanor didn't push you away from him,it really got him wondering, especially since he has a pretty bad image of himself.

Once he started leaving his guard down around you,that's when his feelings started to accumulate.

You would come to his uncle's tea shop almost daily, leaving a small present for Zuko. Maybe some rice cakes, or some cute little drawings. Just a way to show your affection for the boy.

You never asked about his scar,you didn't want to make him uncomfortable by bringing back unfortunate memories.

And he really appreciated that, he doesn't really like nosey people.

His uncle ships you two. Iroh also gives Zuko dating advice about how to talk to you,how to act and Zuko pretends he hates it,but secretly absorbs single thing Iroh says.

Each time you went out with Zuko was an amazing experience, learning new things about him.

Now let's say one day you didn't visit Zuko at all,which got him worried.

The next day same,wich is unusual,if you'd be busy the day before,you would visit and tell him,it's just something you do.

So he gets suspicious,and comes to your house to see if you're okay,only for your mother to tell him you've been attacked while making a delivery, everything you had was stolen.

Your parents would welcome Zuko inside to come see you.

He enters your room to see you lay in bed,hurt,but nothing very serious,just some cuts and bruises over your arms and so. He's bad at comforting,but he makes sure to tell you it's not your fault.3

And he is FERAL. After talking to you,Zuko asks your parents who did it,in which they say some raiders who have been bothering your family for a long time.

Safe to say,you never had problems with those people again.

He was close to you while you were recovering, bringing you your favorite tea,and claiming his uncle made him do it.(Which is bulshit).

Soon enough you got back to your usual routine,even spending more time with Zuko.

After you got better,he asked you out. Deciding that it's useless to waste more time on dwelling,and that he has to speak his heart.

After he confessed,you jumped on him, kissing him like there's no tomorrow.

And like that,he started dating you. He felt like never before,you gave him this warm feeling in his chest,and when you were not around he would be gloomy.

Iroh was so happy Zuko found himself a nice lady. And since then, it was unusual for you to be seen without Zuko,or him without you.

At one point in your relationship,Zuko spoke about the burn mark on his face,and what his father did you him.

Yes, he told you he's the prince of the fire nation,but he also told you he left that in the past. You trusted him with your life,and you made sure to let him know it.

He was so happy that you didn't judge him for what he did,and that made him trust you a lot.

so like, you first meet bolin at the park in republic city

it was actually really sweet; you’re sitting on a bench and he thinks you’re GORGEOUS and asks if the seat is taken next to you and of course you say no because bolin and pabu are both cute as hell

usually bolin is a pretty straightforward guy but right off the bat he noticed how sweet you were and he didn’t even feel the need to flirt with you like he just felt comfy sitting with you

you guys decide to hit up this little noodle place together after sitting for a while and he’s convinced it’s love at first sight

you were especially endearing to him because you didn’t watch movers and you literally didn’t know wtf the fire ferrets were, and while bolin loved to be loved, he also really liked just feeling like a normal person???

you didn’t have your tattoos (yet) so he first noticed you were an airbender when you did this little spinny thing to mix your tea

the look on this mans face... both hands on his cheeks and wide eyes

korra, asami, and mako run up behind the two of you and mako looks at bolin like ‘the fuck dude?’, korra is straight up IMPRESSED, asami’s just smiling because she knows from experience that the most intense and talented people are the ones you least expect

after that whole ordeal is over (i’d like to mention that lin is also pretty impressed by you), you and the others are sitting up against a brick wall together, j chillin

‘you should kiss me’ you finally mustered up the courage, thinking back to your conversation with asami and korra

‘yeah i sho- wait WHAT?’ bolin looks down at you because your head is on his shoulder and your sides are pressed together, and he’s blushing. this dude is a tomato.

you nodded at him letting him know that he heard you right

he did NOT hesitate after you gave him consent, he wrapped his arms around you and kissed you SO proudly he didn’t even care that you were surrounded by your friends

just when you think taking care of one sibling is hard when you're on the streets, try two siblings. but you know that you wouldn't have it any other way

a/n — i am, in fact alive and i am back now. know i made a few modifications and this has an actual plot. anyway, enjoy anon !

you're the middle child, a waterbender (according to my research, you took the recessive waterbending gene from your mother's side, who's parents were a firebender and waterbender in a time where that was still frowned upon. ik i am: a nerd ✨)

so you're a year apart in between mako and bolin (which means mako is eight, you're seven, bolin is six when your parents die rip)

and as you know y'all grew up on the streets, so mako was very strict towards bolin well, bc you really had to save your money in order to survive

while you agreed with mako on your budget, you didn't mind sneaking bo some of your extra helpings you stole so that mako could eat too (bb takes care of everyone but himself so it's his time 😌)

mako knows you sneak stuff away to bolin but he looks the other way, it's his small way of knowing he's got your back with whatever honestly

you're kinda the mediator between mako and bo who always had different opinions, and you're always willing to make a compromise

you are kinda strict between both of your brothers because mako should loosen up sometimes and bolin should know how hard y'all work to survive

you love them though, and they love you; bo's love for you is very obvious because you are more open with affection, thus being tackled in hugs, cheek kisses, and hand holding (and mako would never admit it, but your forehead kisses and sudden hugs always bring a smile to his face bc he's very lucky to have you both in his life)

but also nights in republic city get cold and you really get to realize mako really does have your back >:( bolin has no problem cuddling up into spare cardboard in empty abandoned alleyways, you're built different

you get cold v v easily and mako always joked around about it when you were younger but when y'all were in your double digits (i'd say a year before your probending era) it's because you didn't grow up in the south / north pole and therefore weren't accustomed to the weather

which then turned into a conversation about how mako knew almost nothing about the fire nation other than the fire family ruled and there was a lot of internal anger for the people who killed your parents and how you wished you could still act like a child (like bolin who was so naive and innocent despite living on the streets)

you two end up shedding a few tears while trying to compose yourselves and watch over bolin but it was kinda distracting with all your shivering from the cold and the shaking from your tears

so mako being the good amazing brother he is (despite the love triangle but we don't talk about that) wraps you up in a hug and you collapse into him, playing with the little fringes of his scarf as he rubs your shoulder for warmth (you don't need it, his body heat is enough but at the same time you don't wanna tell him to stop)

bolin wakes up in awe as for once you got mako to sleep the whole night, and two you're both wrapped up and vulnerable mako is rare as we have all established but for you he will make an exception

also because you are a waterbender, it was harder being able to really tap into your skills until you get taken in by the triads; while they taught mako how to lightning bend, you simultaneously learned along with him and accidentally whipped bolin in the fact

so basically since then, you kinda just taught yourself to take and learn from other elements (you guys were only taught things through radio and stolen books so you didn't know at that point zuko had basically been taught the same thing and showed other firebenders)

which makes you develop a very unique style of bending good enough for republic city's favorite sport !!!

you and bolin had been lounging around making bets for toza's probending game before being taken in by the man himself when you joked around about the game, pointing out to the arena

"you know, maybe that could be us" *silence* "y/n, you're such a genius!" (you thought you freaked him out for a bit and turned around to make sure he was okay, turns out his eyes were glazed in ambition. you regretted joking about probending after that)

and oop suddenly y'all are the fire ferrets (in honor of our boy pabu)

for once mako isn't angry bc dummy hasook doesn't get angry back, in fact hasook isn't even on the team you replaced him as an og member of the fire ferrets

y'all are iconic okay you work so well together, and it definitely brings you three closer in communication and such (you tease mako about that and he pushed you into the water of the arena, you got payback by soaking mhm "yeah, throwing a waterbender into a pool. great idea mako!")

y'all actually did have a chance at winning the finals in book one, but then a stupid earthbender from a team's name you couldn't even remember ruined all that

at this point you had already met korra and asami, and you loved the girls you really did but the drama you had to listen to from your brothers made you wanna freeze their mouths shut (you'd never tell them that to their faces, you'd get pushed in the pool again)

anyway, korra had been watching one of your games when this one dude throws a disk and you end up taking the hit on your leg; you get thrown into zone two, but you don't get up and the boys immediately forfeit

mako and bo insist they carry you to a healer (more like mako mf yelling at anyone and bo carrying you with tears in his eyes bc it was a bad hit), and korra makes it easier for them and checks out your injury

this dude broke your lower leg from a earth disk and you're crying and it hurts really bad that you instantly grab mako's hand loosely because he's always been a source of comfort for you

bo is crying with you because he's never seen you in such great pain and it hurts him internally, and when korra has to tell them to go to the hospital, you put a hand over your mouth knowing the consequences

you protested at first, saying there was no way you could afford a hospital trip in the first place (asami piped up saying she would pay for it, you needed the best healthcare possible, stan her) and mako had been the one to shush you and smooth your hair down, and that was serious enough for you

you felt numb when they told you that you obviously couldn't compete in the finals, but an underwhelming sense of guilt fills your stomach because things had finally been looking up for you up until this stupid moment

asami is outside waiting with korra bc you just wanted to be with your brothers for a minute before seeing anyone else (bolin is cuddling with you in the cot aware of your injury and you're fiddling with mako's fingers)

ultimately, you sigh heavily and make mako bring the girls in there, telling them that you think korra should take your place; she hugs you tightly out of happiness because she had really wanted to try probending and this was her chance, though the situation had been rather unpleasant

you end up in a wheelchair for a bit, and you watch the games because you obviously want to support your brothers, but every time they had scored a knockout or a win and hugged korra, you couldn't help but feel this sense of abandonment

i mean after an injury like that your leg will obviously never be the same thus your bending would turn out quite differently and suddenly you feel incompetent to be a part of team avatar as well, which changes a lot of your relationship dynamic because like your brothers you !! are !! stubborn !! when you set your mind to something it's done

you didn't tell your brothers about this for a while (damn, lack of communication really runs in the family even after i said it'd do y'all good, my bad)

but they notice your distance, your tear stained cheeks, all that sad stuff and bolin tries to remain positive; after your leg is fully healed he makes an attempt at working through your bending stances, but it only ends in tears and a lot of frustration, which makes his heart hurt again

and mako tries to get you to read fire nation lore with him now that he has a whole stack of books via jinora, and he gets to learn about his culture like you both always wanted, but you push the book away and limp towards the meditation pavilion just to stare at the ocean

but they finally corner you and you just break, your knees give out when you open the door to see their looks of helplessness because you had been so selfish as to how you coped with your injury that you forgot that your brothers did love you, no matter what level bender you were

at first, they crouch onto the floor to see that you're okay, but you're sputtering out apologies and explanations, grabbing their shoulders to wrap them in a tight hug you had been craving for a while

they move you to the bed, and it's just like old times where bolin falls asleep first with his hand in yours, and you're against the wall with mako, your head on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around you

with you and mako silence had never been a bad thing, you relished in it, but this time he had reassured you vocally about every worry you had, and you were grateful (so were tenzin and pema, who beckoned you for breakfast and saw the three of you huddled together, kinda reminded tenzin of him, kya, and bumi in the early days)

things start looking different, and you slowly bring yourself to bend despite the slight change in footing (thank the spirits for kya !) and your brothers are there every step of the way, mako affirming your progress and bolin twirling you in the air

and they even get asami and korra in on it, because you are a valid, competent member of team avatar whether you think so or not

you're just really lucky to have your brothers okay?? they love you and would very much bend the world for you if need be, even if they suck at communicating it

there's so much love and when mako and kai finally get along, you receive even more love because bolin cannot keep a secret for the life of him and tells kai about your major injury

and my baby is a words of affirmation and physical touch love language boy so before you send him off to the air temples he just takes your hand, lets you know how cool it is to be a waterbender, how strong you are, the like and goes on a tangent about cool waterbending stories and comparing them to you

you'd never smiled harder, not even when you finally convinced mako to let bolin keep pabu (and though mako crosses his arms and pretends to be mad, he couldn't be happier for you bc his little sibling was finally reverting back to your old self where your relationship wasn't as complex)

You became really unsure of yourself and your abilities to lead the police force you started to hang out with korra, mako and bolin less and less as you started to stress yourself out about being the new chief

Korra and the boys started to worry about you but didn’t know what to do

So they did the next best thing They planned you a surprise party

You were so out of it that you somehow managed to not notice the many times they accidentally revealed something about the party When you finally got out of work after a long day you were bombarded by korra asking you to come to air bender island at 6 for some extra training

You reluctantly agreed although you just wanted to go home and crash after your day

But you could never say no to korra and her puppy eyes

But the weirdest thing was that she asked you to wear your fanciest clothes and you thought it was suspicious but agreed anyway

After that you spent your next 2 hours digging through your closet which was (unhelpfully) full with training gear

But after rummaging through your closet you decided to look through your moms old stuff hoping to find anything

Anytime you met someone new they immediately assumed you and Mako were together, not that they were wrong to do so

You could never find one without the other, always attached at the hip and always looking out for each other, you and Mako were two peas in a pod

You first met when Mako was seven and you were five, just two little children running through the streets together and getting into all sorts of trouble. Your parents didn’t approve of the friendship, but you found ways to sneak past them in order to see your friend

You grew close almost immediately, Mako always quick to protect and defend you whenever the occsssion arose. He would swipe your favorite sweets from the stands in the streets and you’d often sneak him into your house so that he and Bolin wouldn’t have to spend the night on the streets

You were like the sister Bolin never had, so when his new friends started to notice just how close you and his brother were the earth bender knew he’d have to get their help and get you two together

Which is surprisingly tougher than they originally imagined

Because despite how much you and Mako obviously like each other, you’re both too afraid of rejection to speak up

Both of you have dated other people despite the feelings you harbor for one another, and it is because of this that you both assume you’ll never be more than just friends

Until you get a message from Bolin urging you to come to the training room and see an injured Mako. You dropped everything to see him, but when you arrive no one is there

“Y/n?” A voice calls from behind. “What are you doing here?”

“Mako?” You retort, confusion clear in your tone. “I came because Bolin said you were hurt, which.. obviously isn’t true in the slightest. Why are you here?”

“Bolin told me to meet him and Korra here for an impromptu training session but they’re not here. And now I’m starting to think they’re up to something.”

“It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out,” you reply sarcastically with a small laugh, Mako shooting you a wry smile in return. “But now that we’re here... it’s been a while since we’ve spent one on one time together.”

So after purchasing some delicious barbecue meat skewers from a nearby street vendor you and Mako both take a moonlit walk in the park. You also don’t notice a certain earth bender make a small hole in the ground for you to trip over so that Mako can catch you in his firm grasp

“You okay?” He asks. His eyes twinkle as they stare down upon you and you gulp. You’ve always loved the color of his eyes, warm and safe.

“Yeah,” you breathe out quickly, your fingers digging into the fabric of his shirt and clutching tightly at the material as if your life depends on it. “I umm.. does this feel weird to you?”

“N-No, not at all. It’s uh, it’s actually really nice... of course, unless you don’t think it is.”

“No, no, I think it’s great. Lovely. Really nice,” you stutter with an awkward smile.

“Oh for the love of spirits, just kiss already!” A voice in the distance shouts, once that forces sheepish laughter from the both of you.

“Maybe your brother has a point,” you tease, instantly recognizing Bolin’s exasperated voice.

“Sometimes he makes very good points,” Mako notes with a small smirk, and before you can say another word he pulls you in for a long awaited but much appreciated tender kiss

Cheers erupt from behind the bushes as Bolin and Korra high five at the scene before them, Asami watching on with a fond smile

We all know that Bolin has always wanted to be a dad

He's always wanted a little brother (example: Kai), but when that didn't happen, he thinks 'what's the next best thing?'

A kid of course!!

So you guys are a little older and have been dating for a while

Then suddenly, you find out that your pregnant

You panicked for a second, but then you got super happy

You and Bolin had talked about this already; about how many kids you wanted, if you wanted to wait until marriage, etc

So when you told Bolin, he was so so incredibly happy

He laughed super loud and picked you up bc he's way too buff

Then he quickly put you back down and patted your stomach whispering "sorry, sorry, we gotta be gentle with you now"

During your entire pregnancy, he was studying all he could so he knows what to do

Of course, he sometimes fell asleep when he was reading books or got distracted telling you jokes during classes, but he's trying his best ok

Then, after a while, you feel a kick

You get so excited and tell Bolin, who drops whatever he was holding (which you were positively sure was supposed to be your dinner) and runs over to feel

A/N: that’s not weird at all! i have an oc who’s a rival pro bender and is Bolin’s love interest, so this is actually right up my alley lmao. hope you enjoy!

first of all, before you were even dating, you two were on opposite teams, and that made Bolin act a little different when he was flirting with you

see, he was kinda intimidated by you, and didn’t catch on to the fact that you liked him at first, so he didn’t know how to deal with his feelings. he thought you were an amazing bender, and really, really gorgeous - but he also knew that you were rivals, and that made him conflicted, because he loves pro bending more than anything

he wasn’t his usual cocky self when he talked to you before you were dating. it was more playful banter and smack talk, but you still fell for him anyway

you had to make the first move - whether that be confessing, or asking to hang out with him in the gym and train together, or straight up asking him out

Bolin would be flabbergasted, because he thought you saw him as just another opponent. he’s a little nervous at first, thinking that you might just be using him or trying to play with his emotions. after what happened with Korra, he’s a little more wary about dating within the pro bending scene

you prove him wrong. you two hang out on dates, and while they start out pretty awkward, you bond with him over bending, as well as food. you love his sense of humor, and he loves your confidence - like how you made the first move when it came to hanging out with him

things get complicated once you get more serious. you two kiss for the first time just outside the arena, and it sends a thrill through you. Bolin cradles your cheeks so tender, even though he knows how strong you are. it makes you lose your breath, and you wish him luck in his game, promising to watch him from the stands (and not take notes so that you know his weaknesses when you face him next time)

it’s a whirlwind romance. after that first kiss, you can’t get enough of him. you distract each other constantly - skipping practice and gym time to hang out with each other. when you two try to train together, sparring turns into grappling, which turns into kisses, you having pinned Bolin to the ground, tangling your hands in his hair as he draws you closer

it only gets more complicated when your team has to fight against his in an important game

before the game, you talk to him, and agree that you won’t let your relationship get between you two during the game. that you’ll both fight against each other like any other game

you both make good on that promise, and it makes for a very close game, and a very tense one at that. you know how Bolin moves, and Bolin knows how you fight as well, which leads to a very intense battle between you and your boyfriend in the ring, as you both try to knock each other back

it’s so fun, but also so difficult to catch Bolin up. he’s a very good bender, and playing against him only makes you appreciate him more. you vow to train with him seriously more often, because you would love to learn some of his moves

it’s a very, very close game. the Fire Ferrets win by a hair, since Bolin managed to knock you back a zone in the second round. it was a challenge for you both, and instead of being upset at each other for fighting too hard, or throwing combos that were too strong, you leave the ring with a deeper respect for the other’s bending.

in fact, you two are true sportsmen. as soon as the game is over, you run up to Bolin and wrap him in a hug, and you both spend a solid five minutes complimenting each other’s combos and forms, promising to teach each other your techniques

after that, neither of you are concerned with others knowing, and you introduce each other to your teams, letting them know about your secret affair

it turns out it wasn’t so secret. literally everyone knew. you two need to stop making out in the locker rooms.

You first found out you were pregnant when you started to feel sick, at first you and Bolin thought it was simply a stomach bug then as it got worse, you went to the doctor

You were so excited and so was your husband! 

You wanted to keep it a surprise then tell everyone later, but, someone found out. That someone was Jinora

You didn’t know how she found out, probably some spirit world stuff, but one day when you went to air temple island, she pulled you aside.

“Y/n, I sense two spirits inside of you. Are you...” Jinora looked around before leaning into your ear. “Pregnant?”

And that’s how the first person knew

Your baby bump only became noticeable a around three or four months

Thats when you decided to tell

Bolin planned the party, with help from Jinora. He planned it at air temple island since your apartment was rather small

All of your friends showed and Mako looked like he was gonna cry from the news of becoming a uncle, same with Asumi and Korra. They were gonna be aunts!

Then the baby(ies) came

You had twins and they were beautiful babies. A boy and a girl, the girl looked like the carbon copy of Bolin, a female version. She had his bright green joyful eyes and dorky smile. The boy had your eyes and hair color but Bolin’s facial features. 

When you looked at them your heart swelled with happiness that you had one whole Bolin in your life and two mini Bolin’s. You little family was happy.

Growing up the twins always fought, both had Earthbending so sometimes you would go on girl dates with Asumi and Korra and come home to boulders in your living room and Bolin chasing the children around with rocks

It’s a joyful sight but that doesn’t make your headache leave any sooner

Bolin was always the cool one, good cop while you had to be bad cop.

You had to break up fights. “Niyuki! Chi-Lin! Knock it off!” You held the twins apart. Both 13 at this point

“Niyuki started it!” Your daughter whined. “Chi-Lin! You’re a liar!” Your son yelled. “Bolin!” You screamed. “Listen to your mother.” Thats all you got

At some point since you were a waterbender, all the taps in the house exploded

When they first started walking, Bolin was always right there, their chubby hands wrapped around his pinkie and index finger as they trotted over to you with your camera to take pictures

You two would always dress Chi-Lin in the cutest dresses, some you hand made with Asumi’s help.
