there's something profoundly distressing to me about one of the moderators of the disco elysium subreddit literally having to go on main to tell members of the sub not to advocate for violence against real, named human beings, because that is a thing that they are doing--only to have those very same sub members respond by insisting the moderator can't be serious, because everyone knows it's okay to talk about killing high net worth individuals on reddit. it's totally okay to make specific plans to kill high net worth individuals on reddit. it's totally okay and defensible and good praxis to state that anyone who isn't okay with advocating for killing specific, named high net worth individuals, will be the next up against the wall. it's a good idea to put this shit in writing actually. like. aside from the fact that this is 1) a clear violation of reddit's terms of service and 2) could get the moderators and other members of this subreddit in serious legal trouble at a time when the law and justice in the courts is ostensibly out of reach for many of us, i just strongly doubt whether these people were actually paying attention to this game's key message about the moral defensibility of shooting people in the head. namely that there is no moral defence for it, because every shot you take has a ripple effect that quickly spirals out of your control. like that is very much a thing that happens, specifically in this game, because someone literally gets shot in the head.

where is that quote from kim kitsuragi, aka this fandom's favourite character and someone who is arguably the game's--and harry's--literal moral compass, talking about why he's glad that breechloading weapons aren't available to RCM officers? i can't find the quote, so i'm paraphrasing here, but it goes something like "can you imagine what it would be like if RCM officers didn't have to think each time they pull the trigger? the next shot becomes easier and easier. you don't even think about it anymore."

saltwater etch! Or, prep beforehand. The vinyl sticker was my resist, so anything exposed was etched away.

After the saltwater etch! Everything not covered by the vinyl sticker etched away, and the vinyl lasted juuuuuust long enough at the details on the rose & lettering that I got some beautiful little carve-outs for the petals & leaves & the “VII”. They look so fucking CRISP in these pictures.

First paint: Black paint, w/green and red in the etchings on the rose (vinyl still on, to protect the skull).

Vinyl removed! All that was left to do was paint the skull. The darker fuzzing around the edge of the skull is where the electrolyte etch started etching UNDER the vinyl 😅 and there was some uptake of the black enamel there, but nothing that couldn’t be painted over.

So with @edennill mentioning isekai recently (a week ago? Idk), I started thinking and realized something: (if we ignore part of meta that's self-contradictory anyway or if we squint hard enough) if we are contemplating the concept of "isekai-ed into ME", landing there as an elf makes just as much sense as landing there as a human. Because the difference between the two kindreds is how they're tied to Arda and since we are getting thrown into a different world anyway (because this is the only way this premise makes any resemblance of sense, because time travel is a total mess) we can as well be more strongly tied to it. It makes just the same amount of sense as being more loosely tied.

(Tolkien said that there is no inherent physical difference between Men and Elves; the only difference is the nature of their bond with Arda and stuff like this, purely spiritual or whatever to call it.)
