My fav Cass crashout was that time he had to interrogate her father about the identity of a new villain, the interrogation would take place on prison during Father's Day, and the only thing she had to do was enter and ask a singular question. She remained calm and collected for a grand total of three seconds before knocking out every guard, punching through the glass wall, beating her father's ass and dropping a flower with a 'happy father's day' note on top of him

anyway top 5 Cassandra Cain Crash outs (in no particular order, also may not be top 5 just the ones I can think of rn and they’re all from batgirl 2000)

when she saw someone shoot and kill one of his own guys and got so mad at him she stopped his heart so he would know what it felt like to die

When she woke up in the ambulance after getting the shit beat out of her by lady shiva and jumped out of the moving ambulance, crashed into a police car then went to go fight shiva again with like 4x the amount of injuries she had the first time (all while shirtless btw because her shirt got shredded when she threw herself at the police car)

When Steph died and she spent the entire rest of her run crashing out every 5 seconds (I can’t give all the examples rn but it’s basically just all the batgirl 2000 comics after no mans land)

when she got kicked into a barrel of illegal drugs then proceeded to hallucinate her friends and family saying mean things to her and also the devil and angel on her shoulders fighting, the devil one then she crashed out and beat up all the drug gang members then when nightwing showed up she kicked him through a window

when she decided that she had to fight the joker to prove herself as batgirl so broke him out of prison and when she couldn’t read his body language she called him boring then beat the shit out of him when he dropped his guard

There are way more than this btw, everyone in the batfam is a certified crash out but Cass isn’t recognised as much as she should be and that should be changed. Crashout Cain 2025 everyone!!

Anyway hope we get some epic new crash outs in batgirl 2024!!

You should look up reading guides for Jason! They’ll help you read “in order” or at least help you know where to start when reading his comics/comics the feature him. It can be really hit or miss with his writing in features though so be warned 😭

I personally like a death in the family as a starting off point and it’s one of the most notorious batman comics for a reason but people who are bigger fans of him may have better insight on where to begin!

And because I’m biased I recommend “the boy wonder” by Juni Ba! It’s focused on Damian the current mainline robin but it has major involvement from the family mainly his brothers. It’s really charming and has a storytelling style that’s super easy to digest and it’s a really solid introductory to him!

Another good rec I’m sure you’ve gotten already is batgirl 2000 with Cassandra Cain, think if one girl had 4 parents and they’re all insane about her (neg) while she’s on her nth crashout about the philosophy of life.

Batgirl 2024 her current ongoing is also very good so far

Yooo my favorite canon and headcanon ships!

1: what made me ship it?

Honestly they're all but canon, you can only show up together in a Valentine's Day special so many times together before you're canon in your own way.

But seriously, they're just such an obvious couple, and I love the dynamic. Cassandra crashout Cain and Stephanie Brown. Brown who is the best thing for Cass's mental health, Cass who helped Steph grow to the hero she is. They share beds, they spend all their time together, they hallucinate eachother when near death. I love them.

2: god, what isn't there to love imo. I think, honestly, it's just how straight up funny every level of it is. Every detail on those two is hilarious. Cass looks like Steph's ex, who's kinda Cass's brother. Barbara lets those two share a bed. Steph and Cass breaking up would be hella awkward because Barbara cares deeply for both.

3: hot take: I don't want them to change from what we have right now. Never label them, never show them kiss or fuck. What they have is so them and I love it.

Oh also I prefer CasSteph. They meld together idk.

Homes it's the fact that it gives Barbara a genuine live interest and not a deadweight that's going to turn her into a furby that it says stuff like "I love my boyfriend". Dinah is one of the all time greats in universe, she's a legend, she's probably one if your heroes' hero. Instead of overshadowing her, Dinah is building her up, and so too is Barbara to her. They're so devoted and healthy, even if it's open they're incredibly close. I love the panel showing Barbara sleeps with her comms open for Dinah.

My hottake is I'd be FINE with Ollie being there. I think a Thruple of those three would be fantastic. Have Barbara move to Star, take the kids, vibe? Amazing.
