The Campaign Up To Date
October 4, 1908
Hearst stands in the center and holds up a newspaper. He declares 'I Did It!' To his left and right Roosevelt, Bryan, Haskell, and Foraker hurl accusation's of 'You did' and "Didn't' at each other.
Hearst ignited this flurry of accusations and denials when he claimed that Sen. Foraker and Gov. Haskell had received improper payment from the Standard Oil Company.

MONDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO: “Hold On” by Rupert’s People https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYbrxbXH5bs. Rupert’s People was a “made in the studio” band formed around members of Fleur de Lys. In 1967, Rod Lynton was a “rising star” songwriter, so managers and record companies got behind him to record his songs by using bands-for-hire—in this case it was Fleur de Lys with Chris Andrews on lead vocals. To avoid confusion over the Fleur de Lys “brand,” the band re-named themselves “Rupert’s People.” “Hold On” was the B-side to the single Rupert’s People “Reflections on Charles Brown,” which received positive response in 10 countries. However, many said “Hold On” is the stronger track, amped up with muscular organ by Pete Solley (future sideman w/Eric Clapton, Al Stewart, Whitesnake, etc.) and edgy lead guitar by Phil Sawyer. The song was co-written with bassist Gordon Haskell (later of “Harry’s Bar” and King Crimson) and guitar hero Bryn Haworth (not credited on the record label). On a cosmic jukebox “Hold On” plays next to the soulful hard-edged blues-rock fusions of Spencer Davis Group, Pretty Things, and Brian Auger & The Trinity.
Lynton went on to collaborate with John Lennon, and Rupert’s People tracks have been reissued on soundtracks and compilations celebrating the best of 60s British rock. Fleur de Lys became a launching pad for several careers, with Chris Andrews going on as a solo act and collaborator with Roger Daltrey, David Essex, Davy Jones (Monkees), and other notables. This video was made in 2023 with remastered audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYbrxbXH5bs

Thomas Fountain Blue
Thomas Fountain Blue, the first African American to head a public library in the United States, was also a civic, educational, and religious leader. Blue was born in Farmville, Virginia, on March 6, 1866, to Noah Blue, a carpenter, and Henry Ann Crawley Blue. They were parents of two other children, Alice Blue and Charles Blue.
Blue enrolled in Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia, in 1885 and graduated in 1888. In 1894, he enrolled in Richmond Theological Seminary (now Virginia Union University) in Richmond, Virginia, finishing in 1898 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. One week later, when the United States declared war on Spain after the sinking of the USS Maine off the coast of Cuba, touching off the Spanish-American War, Blue joined the Sixth Virginia Volunteers battalion comprising African American soldiers and was stationed first in Camp Poland in Tennessee and later at Camp Haskell in Georgia.
In 1905, Blue was selected to lead the Western Branch Library of the Louisville Free Public Library on South 10th and Chestnut Street, the first Carnegie Library in the nation to serve African American patrons with an exclusively African American staff. The facility cost $31,024.31 to build and when completed had over 4,000 books and 53 periodicals.
In 1914, Blue opened Louisville’s second Carnegie Library for African Americans, the Eastern Branch Library. During World War I, Blue was drafted, left the branch, and was appointed the Education Secretary at Camp Zachary Taylor in Louisville, one of sixteen national Army training camps created across the nation. Blue worked with Black troops who mostly had supporting and laboring roles in the United States.
After the war ended in 1918, Blue returned to Louisville, and a year later, in 1919, he was named head of the “Colored Department” for the city’s public library system and supervised eight African American assistants. The Colored Department was the first in the United States to have a staff which served multiple Black library branches.
In 1922, Blue was a presenter at the American Library Association Conference in Detroit, Michigan, where he gave a paper titled, “Training Class at the Western Colored Branch,” and led the subsequent discussion with the Negro Roundtable composed of other African American Library staffers from across the nation.
On June 18, 1925, Blue married Cornelia Phillips Johnson from Columbia, Tennessee, and they parented two children, Thomas Fountain Blue, Jr., and Charles Blue (named after his younger brother). Two years later, in 1927, Blue founded the Negro Library Conference and conducted its first meeting at Hampton Institute.
Later becoming a minister, Reverend Thomas Fountain Blue—who held membership in the American Library Association, the Special Committee of Colored Ministers of Louisville on Matters Interracial, and was a charter member of the Louisville Chapter of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History—died on November 10, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was 69.
At the 2003 joint conference of the American Library Association with the Canadian Library Association Annual Conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Blue was posthumously honored when the organization passed a resolution recognizing his leadership in promoting professionalism among the staff of African American libraries across the United States. In 2022, a headstone honoring Blue and his wife, Cornelia Phillips Johnson, was placed at Eastern Cemetery in Louisville by the Frazier History Museum.

Vanessa Lynn Williams (March 18, 1963) is a singer, actress, and fashion designer. She gained recognition as the first woman of African American descent to receive the Miss America title when she was crowned Miss America in 1984. A few weeks before the end of her reign, she learned that Penthouse magazine would be publishing now “iconic” unauthorized nude photographs of her in an upcoming issue. She resigned as Miss America in July 1984 and was replaced by the first runner-up Miss New Jersey Suzette Charles. Thirty-two years later, Miss America CEO Sam Haskell offered her a public apology.
She rebounded from the scandal with a successful career as a singer and actress. She released her debut studio album The Right Stuff whose title single saw moderate success before “Dreamin’” peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the US. With her second and third studio albums, The Comfort Zone and The Sweetest Days, she saw continued commercial success and received multiple Grammy Award nominations—this included her number-one hit and signature song, “Save the Best for Last”. Her later studio albums include Everlasting Love and The Real Thing.
She enjoyed success on both stage and screen, receiving an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Teri Joseph in Soul Food. Her best-known television roles are that of Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty, for which she was nominated three times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and Renee Perry on Desperate Housewives.
She is involved with several humanitarian causes. She is a supporter of LGBT rights and same-sex marriage, and she participated in a Human Rights Campaign entitled “New Yorkers for Marriage Equality”. She is partnered with Dress For Success, an organization that provides professional attire for low-income women to help support their job search and interview process.
She married Ramon Hervey II (1987-97). They had three children. She married NBA player Rick Fox (1999-2004). They had one daughter. She married Jim Skrip (2015). #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #womenhistorymonth

So, a month ago I finally got a job as a frontend dev, so, hooray,🥳, I now get to enjoy ✨Vue✨ and ✨Nuxt✨ 5 days a week and get paid for that. But since I've been unemployed for a very long time, this sudden change means that I'm even more tired to learn new things in my spare time, and also that there isn't much spare time now. I haven't posted much here before and so it seems I'm unlikely to be more active here in the future. Sad.
I did, though, try to read the 1st book on the list from the website Teach Yourself Computer Science, the one called Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (the reason for me to do that is because I don't have any STEM background, and, I guess, if I want to continue a career in a sphere rapidly encroached by AI, it's good to have some fundamental knowledge). I read about a ⅕ of the book, finally understood what it means for Haskell to be called a "lazy" language, but the exercises at the end of the chapters are too hard and math-heavy for me. Also, sad.
The book uses a programming language from the LISP family, called Scheme. I thought I could get by by installing Clojure instead, but that journey ended with the VS Code extension for Clojure, called Calva slowing down and then completely corrupting (?) WSL connection, so that I had then to reinstall my WSL "instance". (Yes, I use Windows, because I'm not a programmer). Which is sad, because the extension looked good and feature-heavy, it just couldn't function well in WSL environment for some reason…
After that, I installed Racket (another LISP) on the freshly reinstalled WSL distro, but then I couldn't pick up the book again and continue learning for, like, a week and a half, which is where I am at now. (Racket allows to define arbitrary syntax/semantics for the compiler, which in turn allows developers to create new domain specific languages distributed simply as Racket packages, with one of those packages being the dialect of Scheme used by SICP, the book mentioned earlier).
There is also the PureScript book, Functional Programming Made Easier by Charles Scalfani, which I'm unlikely to finish ever. The language is neat (it's very similar to Haskell, but compiles to JavaScript), but a bit overcomplicated for a simple goal of making interfaces. I do think, however, that I might try learning Elm at some point: the amount of time I've spent at work, trying to understand, why and at what point the state of some component mutated in a Nuxt app is, honestly, impressive, and I want to try something built around the idea of immutability.

September 27, 1908
Foraker and Haskell have been flattened by The Political Steam Roller, Uncle Sam looks on happily.
The caption reads "Haskell - 'Why, Joe, you're as thin as a campaign argument' Foraker - 'And, Charlie, you're as flat as a dollar contribution to the democratic campaign fund.'"
Foraker and Haskell were recently revealed by William R. Hearst to have had improper payments from the Standard Oil Company.

I guess he did need to sell something!
The former England rugby star, who is married to King Charles's niece Zara, is known for his close relationships with several of his wife's family and has revealed it was 'easy' to fit in with the royals.
In a new interview with The Telegraph to promote his upcoming book, The Good, the Bad & the Rugby - Unleashed, with James Haskell and Alex Payne, the former rugby player said joining royal life was 'simple really'.
[…]
During the interview, Mike also revealed the close bond he shares with Prince George, 11, the first born son of the Prince and Princess of Wales. The rugby fanatic is known to have a close relationship with the young royal - and was snapped affectionately ruffling his hair during December's Christmas day service. Mike noted that George 'loves' playing football and is a huge Aston Villa fan like his father Prince William.
George loves his football. I've played numerous times in the garden with him.
'He's passionate about Aston Villa, too. Wherever he is, he'll sit down and watch that game.'
And giving an insight into the Princess of Wales's favourite sport, he added: 'They're just a family who love sport. Catherine loves her running.'

Love, Death and Ghosts
In life, there are two known inevitabilities. Taxes. And death. Yet, although the life we lead is fleeting, it is often opined by the poets that it is this very much ephemeral nature of our existence that makes life worth living. After all, without the threat of death looming over us, how can we appreciate the wider world we find ourselves in? Or the beauty of love that blossoms between two like-minded souls?
We year because we know it will eventually vanish from our grasps.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden puts the players in the shoes of two banishers: Ruaidhrigh "Red" mac Raith and Antea Duarte. As the two set about breaking the curse surrounding the town of New Eden, they are caught up in a tale of despair and retribution. One they slowly piece together piecemeal as they help out the survivors set up in their individual encampments after the initial failure to banish the Nightmare of Deborah Comenius.
Through this medium, the game is able to explore themes of love, grief and justice. All the while delving into, and challenging, the societal beliefs of the late 1600s. More importantly, it tackled the concepts of the occult with rituals used by banishers, demonologists and witches alike - something I've always found fascinating even though in our modern world such things are, more often than not, dismissed out of hand.
Here, in Banishers, magic is real and ghosts exist.
Witches too. Although they aren't agents of the Devil as the Puritan townspeople believe, but people who live with nature and understand the nature of the world around them. Nor do they have animal familiars. A missed opportunity if ever there was one.
The games tarts with our banishers arriving in New England upon the request of their good friend: Charles Davenport. Their first order of business is to find him and gain an understanding of the situation they've been called in to solve. But when they arrive at the inn, Charles is missing. Instead, they are greeted by the Governor, Fairefax Haskell, Captain Pennington and the hunter: Thickskin. It is here that they learn their good friend was killed by the Nightmare. Undaunted, Antea and Red meet with Charles' late wife to learn more. When they do, they realise she is haunted by their friend.
After finding Charles' tie, and talk to him about his reasons for staying, Red chooses to ascend their friend. After all, the banisher's code has always been: death to the dead and life to the living. For Charles to stay, he would need to feed off his wife. And though his desire to remain is to protect his wife, to do so would only only serve to put her in danger.
Once they learn more about the Nightmare and allow Charles to pass over, Antea and Red spend a night at the school house. Red wakes and finds Antea missing. Fearing his lover and fellow Banisher has gone to take on the Nightmare on her lonesome, he heads to the meeting house.
Unfortunately, it turns out to be a trap. Red is overwhelmed by the Nightmare. But before it manages to kill him, Antea comes to the rescue. In so doing, though, Antea is killed and Red is thrown off the cliff.
After he is rescued by a witch called Seeker, Red breaks down. However, his grief is short when Antea's ghost appears before him and two choices are presented to the player: Antea can ascend or she can be resurrected through the use of a dark ritual involving human sacrifice. No matter which choice Red goes with, however, the pair realise they need to return to New Eden and recover Antea's body as it is her tie to the living world.
And so, they journey back across the Dark Woods, the Mire Marshes, Mount Pleasant and the Harrows to return to the town where they lost everything. Along the way, they meet the townspeople of New Eden who had fled and aid them in destroying fragments of the ghost terrorising them for the crimes they committed against her.
Overall, I have to say I enjoyed the story of Banishers. The horror of what played out to condemn an innocent school teacher still makes my blood boil. But it was the quiet moments that stood out to me such as the fact Deborah was in a same-sex relationship with Kate, the outright despair she felt when nobody would stand up and speak on her behalf, and the fear of death in her final moments. All of this was juxtaposed with Antea and Red's relationship as they tried to find a means to put an end to the curse and deal with the impacts of human choices.
And because of this, they made Deborah a sympathetic antagonist. She was no mustache-twirling villain. Just a woman who was targeted based on prejudice and fear. The strawman effigy needed to alleviate the struggles of a budding town when it was struck down by disease.
Haskell failed in his role of being an impartial mediator, condemning Deborah even though he would have preferred to offer her mercy. Kate was scared about coming out and putting herself in the crosshairs. But Pennington was the one who accused her of being a witch because he simply could not face the fact his daughter, Grace, wanted to dabble in magic (possibly a metaphor for coming out as trans?). And honestly, my greatest contempt is for him and how he tried to oppress his daughter's means of self-expression.
Had he not been so caught up in Puritan beliefs, he would not have denounced Deborah and imprisoned an innocent woman because he couldn't accept the person his daughter was.
Online, I've also seen people question Deborah's desire for retribution and if it matches the crimes committed against her. Though I would say 'no,' I'd also say that the spirit which had latched onto her continued to feed on her anger and she wasn't exactly in her right state of mind. As Antea often said, ghosts who lingered could forget themselves, their memories fading until they were driven solely by a single emotion when attacking the living.
Neither, of course, are good. Or healthy for that matter. Look no further than The Count of Monte Cristo, who spent decades plotting out his revenge against the people who wronged him. But it is also important to realise that Deborah's anger came from both the injustice of her death and the grief of Kate stepping away when she needed her the most.
In fact, the whole game is about letting go.
Whether that's allowing Antea to ascend, to the ghosts who haunt their respective persons for either perceived slights or because of the love they have.
Admittedly, I did enjoy many of the haunting cases as they provided additional context for the world of Banishers. Even if, of course, most of the townsfolk were Puritans wishing to explore the new world.
Although, I do puzzle why so many of the ghosts who ended up haunting their fellow survivors managed to die in the days or week after Red managed to lift the curse in an area. Yes, I know sepsis can kill a person quite quick, but Ann Wings didn't seem very sick before we went down into the mines but as soon as we emerged, she'd somehow died of disease. Then, of course, in the Harrows, you had someone drink themselves to death and another who poisoned himself in quick succession.
From a gameplay perspective Banishers is quite simple. There's a light and heavy attack, which are mapped to the shoulder buttons of the PlayStation 5. Square is for healing, circle is dodge and X allows Red to unleash a powerful Banish attack. Triangle, on the other hand, will allow you to shift into Antea who is able to deal spirit damage through her punches. As the game continues, she unlocks various 'Manifestations' which help unlock parts of the map and also serve as power abilities to unleash in the midst of battle.
Unfortunately, the gameplay loop was fairly simple through the game and I never felt like I had to deviate much from my tried and true formula of dodging away from enemies before counter-attacking them with a flurry of blows.
My main issue was the camera and how Red was trapped with strafing side to side. In the early game, this was difficult to navigate when fighting multiple enemies at the same time but after I'd slowly unlearned the Final Fantasy XVI key bindings and finally was doing what I wanted instead of hitting the wrong button, the game got easier.
Like the game that came before it, Ghost Trick, Banishers sees you trying to solve the mystery. Whereas Ghost Trick was primarily focused on Sissel's journey of self-discovery, Banishers has Red decide the best path forward to resolve each case - whether that be blaming the human, ascending the ghost or banishing them back into the Void. But while Ghost Trick was a game filled with levity and hijinks, Banishers is rooted in the reality of the world we live in and the prejudices inherent of being human. Especially when we only have a limited understanding of the world around us and don't seek to expand our knowledge of how it works, or the history that has led us to where we are now.
It is often said that those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
Of course, there are also those who incorrectly put things from the past up onto a pedestal and hope to emulate what they believe was the pinnacle of civilisation. All the while ignoring the inconvenient truths and realities of the time for their own sanitised version of it.
I'm looking at you, Roman Empire.

Special Delivery! Here Are 17 Curious Facts About The Cincinnati Post Office
On The Barrelhead The Cincinnati Post Office was established in 1794 and received soon after its first mail delivery, consisting of sixteen letters, two newspapers and a snuff box. All mail then was “collect on delivery” or COD – recipients paid the postage. Postage for a simple letter was 25 cents. The postmaster displayed all mail on top of a barrel at his house. Anyone wanting to collect mail paid the postmaster.
Returned To Sender Cincinnati’s first postmaster was an attorney and Revolutionary War veteran named Abner Dunn, who ran the local post office out of his house at the corner of Second and Butler streets. Postmaster Dunn died in 1795 after only a year in office and was buried in the backyard of his house, which was also the backyard of the post office. The site is now a parking lot near Sawyer Point Park.

Everybody Knew Your Business From 1799 up until Cincinnati adopted free home delivery in the late 1860s, the Post Office regularly published a list of all letters awaiting collection, so everybody in town knew when you had mail. If you ignored the published list for three months, your mail was sent to the dead letter office. The lists were extensive, occupying, in small type, as much as half a page in the Cincinnati Commercial or Gazette.
Keep It Under Your Hat Cincinnati’s fifth postmaster was an eccentric Methodist minister named William Burke, who served a very long term from 1814 to 1841. Possessed of a deep, guttural voice attributed to his lifelong addiction to chewing tobacco, Burke is remembered for personally delivering mail around town while making social calls. He kept the items to be delivered in his hat. It is said that “Father Burke,” as he was known, also delivered wise counsel to his patrons along with the mail.
Penny For Your Thoughts During the 1840s, Cincinnati experimented with home delivery, but charged for the service. Two “penny postmen” divided the downtown area, with Joseph Haskell taking the route north of Fourth Street, and Hiram Frazer delivering south of Fourth. Recipients, in addition to the standard postage, coughed up a penny for each letter delivered to their front door.
Inaugural Air Mail? The first mail at least partially delivered by air left Cincinnati on Independence Day 1835. Obviously, no airplane was involved. The pilot was the “Prince of Aeronauts,” Richard Clayton, and the vehicle was his renowned balloon, the Star of the West. Clayton ascended from an amphitheater constructed in the middle of Court Street between Race and Elm with, among other cargo, a satchel of mail intended for eastern cities. He crashed 100 miles away in Pike County and had the post office in Waverly, Ohio, send the letters the rest of the way. A trial involving an airplane in 1912 was really a gimmick in which mailbags picked up at Coney Island were dropped at the California Post Office, just 8,000 feet away.

What The Dickens? By 1825, stagecoaches had replaced pack horses as the primary vehicle for transporting mail throughout the Ohio Valley and nascent Midwest. In addition to letters and newspapers, mail coaches carried passengers and were often the most reliable means of travel available outside the East Coast. When Charles Dickens visited Cincinnati in 1842, he arrived by mail coach.
Postmaster Is The ‘Last Man’ On 6 October 1855, Cincinnati Postmaster John L. Vattier sat down to a most unusual dinner. His table was set for seven, but every place setting, excepting one, was empty. Vattier was the last of seven young Cincinnatian men who survived the 1832 cholera epidemic, bought a pricey bottle of wine, and pledged to meet each year for dinner, saving the bottle for the last of them to survive. On that evening, following the funeral of his last colleague, Vattier dined alone and drank the bottle in memory of his friends.
Postal Currency – What A Riot! As the United States struggled to finance the Civil War, an unintended consequence was a shortage of coins. The Post Office stepped up to alleviate the shortage by issuing postal currency in the form of “shinplaster” paper bills in fractions of a dollar. Public demand was so great in Cincinnati that a riot broke out at the distribution center on 5 November 1862. Although no one was seriously injured, federal troops called in to disburse the 2,000 rioters drew swords and attached bayonets to their rifles until calm was restored.
Shillito Becomes A Worthy Investment Cincinnati merchants, notably John Shillito of department store fame, devised creative ways to issue change when coins were scarce. During the coin-scarce Civil War, Shillito noted that his customers often used postage stamps as currency. Shillito crafted special circular cases to contain one-cent, three-cent or five-cent stamps and used them just like coins in providing change to customers. Today, an 1862 Shillito “encased postage” coin can bring as much as $1,250 at auction.
Hier wird Deutsch gesprochen You didn’t have to be German to manage the Cincinnati Post Office, but it didn’t hurt. Between the Civil War and the Twentieth Century, Cincinnati had 10 postmasters and fully half of them were born in Germany. Our Teutonic mail mavens were John C. Baum (1861 to 1864), Frederic John Mayer (1864 to 1866), Gustav Robert Wahle (1874 to 1878), John P. Loge (1878 to 1882) and John Zumstein (1891 to 1895).
Wayward Mail According to the Post [9 July 1891], Cincinnatians were lucky to receive any letters at all because of their incompetence at addressing envelopes. The Cincinnati Post Office reported that year 156,275 incorrectly addressed letters, 15,620 insufficiently addressed letters, 2,632 illegibly addressed letters, and 10,923 incorrectly stamped letters. In all, 279,385 pieces of wayward mail were returned to sender by exasperated Cincinnati postal clerks. The staff specifically assigned to decipher bad addresses were called “Nixie” clerks.
Babies By Mail The United States Post Office introduced parcel-post deliveries in 1913 and boasted that anything – anything at all – under 11 pounds was suitable for shipment. Taking the Post Office at its word, a Clermont County farming couple, Jesse and Matilda Beagle, made history on 25 January 1913 when they packed up their infant son, and shipped him off via parcel post to his grandparent’s house. The Associated Press claimed the Beagles were the first customers to utilize the new parcel post system in this manner.
Potatoes, Too! A Kentucky farmer did the math and determined that parcel post rates were cheaper than hiring a dray to get his potato crop to market. On 28 October 1916, the Cincinnati Post Office found 35 sacks of spuds, weighing 50 pounds each, waiting to be processed and delivered to a Court Street wholesaler. All 1,750 pounds of taters arrived at their appointed destination by mid-afternoon.
Photographic Memory Postal employees were legendary for their ability to accurately deliver mail bearing a minimal address. That skill was tested to an extreme in 1929 when an envelope arrived in Cincinnati bearing only a photograph of a building and the name of the city. A postal clerk recognized the building in the photograph. Sure enough, the letter was intended for Oliver F. Slimp, manager of the Edwards Building at 528 Walnut Street, the building pictured in the photograph pasted on the envelope.
The Porn Stops Here Federal investigators tracing the distribution of obscene materials throughout the Midwest found that most of the pornography was mailed from Cincinnati. On 28 November 1940, postal inspectors struck paydirt in a West Eighth Street warehouse, where they found 28 rolls of motion picture film, 2,000 photographs, 3,000 printed cartoons, a dozen cartons of obscene literature and related printing plates. Two Cincinnati men were arrested as a result of the raid.
End Of The Line Cincinnati’s art-deco styled Main Post Office on Dalton Street was originally constructed in 1933 as the Dalton Annex. The huge building was intentionally located adjacent to railroad lines and the new Union Terminal because so much mail was transported to Cincinnati by train. That advantage disappeared on 17 November 1974 when the iconic track-side facility received the last shipment of mail to arrive in Cincinnati by railroad.

CHARLES HOSKINSON WAS PRESENT AT UTN-REGIONAL BUENOS AIRES

Charles Hoskinson with Ulises Barreiro (CEO of Token Mithrandir)
As part of the celebrations at the diploma award ceremony of the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, as the certificates of the first graduates of the ADA LABS, a seminar specialized in HAskell and Plutus programs, programs used to program within the CARDANO network, were handed out. Charles Hoskinson presented the diplomas to the graduates and gave a spectacular speech in front of more than 150 people who were present in the UTN's aula Magna. There were also other speakers such as the Secretary of Labor Julio Cordero, and a large part of the organizing community of Fundación Cardano such as J.J. Siler, Rafael Fraga, and the Dean of the UTN, Engineer Guillermo Oliveto, among other guests.
It was a magnificent party, where Charles talked about the importance of blockchain in this world that is advancing by leaps and bounds in this 21st century.
The students learned several qualities about Cardano, the teachers were Robertino and Karina both from IOHG (another of the organizing legs of the CARDANO ecosystem), Cardano is a third generation blockchain network that aims to improve previous generations by providing a more sustainable, scalable and secure platform for decentralized applications and digital assets. These are some of its main advantages that the graduates understood: Scientific philosophy: Cardano's development is based on peer-reviewed research and evidence-based methods, which helps ensure the long-term sustainability and security of the platform. Scalability: Cardano's Ouroboros consensus protocol is designed to support large transaction volumes while maintaining security and decentralization. This makes it an attractive platform for large-scale applications.
Security: Cardano's proof-of-stake consensus mechanism is designed to provide a high level of security while reducing the power consumption associated with proof-of-work systems. Smart contracts: Cardano supports the creation of smart contracts through its Plutus platform. Plutus is a smart contract language designed to be powerful and easy to use.
Interoperability: Cardano is designed to be interoperable with other blockchain networks, which can facilitate its integration with existing systems and technologies.
Regulatory compliance: Cardano's design takes into account the need for regulatory compliance, which can make it a more attractive platform for businesses and other organizations that need to comply with regulations.
Community governance: Cardano has a strong community focus and includes a treasury system that allows the community to fund projects that align with the platform's objectives. In this aspect INTERSEC was created, and from there they are working on what is called governance.
Note that this Cardano blockchain has one of the strongest crypto communities in Latin America. This community is made up of several communities, and one of them is Cardano's Mithrandir token community. To close, I can tell you that as CEO of token Mithrandir I could talk briefly with Charles Hoskinson, as well as our CTO Daniel Rodriguez and our Community Manager Lucas Cariddi. It was a party for the Token Mithrandir community.
