thinking about the parallels between Icarus and Orpheus because yes, both were mistakes, but both were mistakes of love.

whether Orpheus turns to Eurydice to help her after she trips, because he can no longer hear her, or because he's excited to finally be in the living once again with her, his mistake was one deeply entrenched in and born of love.

the sky and the gleaming, shining sun it held, was Icarus' Eurydice. he knew he wasn't to go higher (wasn't to turn back). he knew it would spell death (it would lead to once again feeling the greatest loss of his life). but he craved freedom with a lustful passion and the sun invited him higher and higher.

it was a mistake, but it was a mistake of love.

Drew a super angsty drawing of hector because we’re reading The Aeneid in AP Latin and my teacher had us draw Hector on the whiteboard lol. I decided to take inspiration from that and try to do something in procreate. this isn't a good drawing but I need to try to let go of my perfectionism when it comes to putting art out into the world so. here it is.
