Mel/Meljay muuts just block the negativity and people who crosstag to cause drama. One look at their page, and they never have anything constructive to say (not even about her character). They never see the hate when we rightfully complain about it and bring it up and make it a point to let us know that it's not there tired of it. When we complain about our tag being flooded with anti - or non Mel/Meljay takes, we need to get over it. When Mel’s character IS being talked about outside the romance, these same people are also nowhere to be found. So, for your own peace, curate your circles, block if necessary, and, if possible, look for like-minded mutuals or even a server.

We're small enough as it is in this big ass fandom, so all in all, we can gradually move onto a show where she does have a better storyline and hopefully the crosstagging dies out by then otherwise we might have to create (and I expect and foresee that we do cause this fandoms as most are toxic as hell) an 'only mel medarda', 'pro mel medarda', type of tags to get away from the BS and solely focus on her story and character arc— with or without shipping.
