if i had a nickel for every consecutive cdrama i watched where a female lead had to kill the male lead at the end in order to avert a world ending crisis i'd have two nickels, which isn't that many but it's weird that it happened twice in a row

When i`m making this post, a BIG and LOOOONG smile spread across my face that I don’t even remember ever having. This day (CLJ/LBFAD Anniversary!) is already SO special for me, but who knew that it was so SPECIAL??? It was on this day (half an hour ago) that I discovered… WHAT???????? Destiny, is it you? Oooohhhh…. There is no limit to my emotions, because I received a letter from @redvelvetpanda I hug you tightly! Hand sketch… Aaaahhhhh…So beautiful, so THEM! This is a treasure that I will cherish! You can’t even imagine how much I appreciate this and how dear it is to me😍🥰😭❤️

Happy New Year! The CLJ prompt meme is open and ready for business. It's finally time to submit your prompts and get creating!
A LITTLE FAQ
Q: What is a prompt meme?
A prompt meme is a challenge where fans can submit one or more fanwork prompts that creators can choose to fill.
Have an idea for a fic/art you’d love to see executed by someone from the fandom? Now is your chance to submit your ideas to the prompt meme!
Q: How long is this running?
Basically... forever! I believe AO3 requires an "end date" to make collections like this searchable, but it won't actually be closed until I close it manually. I will keep it open indefinitely... so in theory you could fill a prompt 10 years from now if you wanted!
Q: How many prompts can I submit?
The max amount AO3 allows per user is 50, so that's what I will set the challenge to allow as well.
Q: Are my prompts anonymous?
Prompts are anonymous by default, but you can choose to de-anon them.
Q: Do I need an AO3 account to submit prompts?
You need an AO3 account to submit prompts. Please contact the mod if you don’t have an AO3 account and we can work something out.
Q: How many prompts can I claim?
As many as you would like!
Q: Are claims anonymous?
Claims are not anonymous.
Q: Can multiple people fill the same prompt?
By all means! The more, the merrier.
Q: What if I can’t fill a prompt I claimed?
Don’t worry about it! This is a casual event, so if you can’t complete something, it’s fine to drop the claim.
Q: I’m not an artist/fic writer, can I still post a prompt?
Yes!
Q: I’m an artist. Can I claim prompts?
You sure can! Prompts are not limited to fic writers. All art is accepted, from illustration to gifsets to videos, and more! If you have an AO3 account, you can claim and post prompt fills to your heart’s content.
Q: What kind of prompts are accepted?
Any ideas featuring CLJ/LBFAD characters and canon are accepted! It can feature any pairing, setting, or concept. Prompts can be set in alternate universes or the canon universe.
Prompts can be NSFW (not safe for work) or SFW (safe for work). Fills can be NSFW or SFW. Please indicate in your prompt if you have a preference for the rating of the work.
Q: Is dead dove content accepted?
Dead dove content is accepted, for both prompts and fills, but make sure it’s appropriately tagged and warned (“Choose Not to Give Warnings” is an acceptable warning).
Q: Are crossovers accepted?
Crossover prompts are accepted, but the focus of the prompt should be the characters from CLJ/LBFAD.
Q: How do I submit a prompt?
Hit “join” on the collection. Then, hit “sign up” to submit prompts.
In the text box of the prompt submission, please summarize the idea you would like to see represented in the fanwork. You can be as detailed or vague as you like. In this same text box, please also indicate if there is anything you would not want to see when your prompt is filled with a list of DNWs (do not wants). Please be specific with your DNWs.
You can also select additional tags, warnings, and ratings, that the claimant could use when filling the prompt.
VIEW THE FAQ ON THE PROMPT MEME COLLECTION
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send this tumblr an ask! I can't wait to see what you all do 🥰

SO!! i read the book version of cang lan jue, The Demon King, as translated by banana chocolate cosmos.
I'm not an expert but I believe it was translated into Singlish? There's a few -la, -ah, and en's which aren't a feature of American English. I did have a little trouble understanding the grammar of certain parts. But overall it was fine and I am glad they translated it bc I wouldn't have been able to read it at all otherwise.
The drama is like not even an adaptation IMO. The plot and characters are so different, it's like a drama that was inspired by the book LOL. The book was a lot simpler, not a ton of intrigue, Jieli and Chengheng don't exist, Shangque is a completely dif character and an enemy lol. There are no love triangles at all, Orchid is really just an orchid, DFCQ is just a demon king who wants to be the best fighter and like that's it.
I actually much prefer the show tbh. I almost never feel this way about adaptations, but the book is just not as good, the show writers really did a great job of making the story a lot more interesting and touching. The show really emphasizes all different kinds of love, romantic, familial, platonic love. The book just didn't compare. Anyway that's my opinion.
I really hope the show writers make 2 more shows bc this author does have two more books set in the same universe apparently!

Making Online Referrals Work for You
Managing and growing your online referral business can turn a good year into a great year
Referrals are the undisputed lifeblood of an agent’s business, but managing inbound online referrals can sometimes be challenging. Plus, most agents admit that they don’t send as many outbound referrals as they could be doing.
For inbound online referrals, clients may have requested information from multiple sources, and some referral companies—like ReferralExchange—send referrals to several agents so the client can choose the best fit for them.
For outbound referrals—e.g., when you have a client moving to a different location, a buyer moving into your area who needs to sell a property in their old location, or a friend/family member who needs to purchase a property that’s out of your price point or market—the challenge can often be finding qualified agents in other markets and keeping track of how they’re handling the referral.
Here, we highlight some tips and tools from agents who use ReferralExchange, a nationwide referral and lead management service, to help you convert and close the online referrals you receive, as well as how to find ways to send out more referral business. For both types of business, the key is to have a thorough and consistent marketing and communication strategy in place in order to capture the business when the prospect is ready to transact.
Converting Inbound Referrals Melissa Zavala, administrative broker at Broadpoint Properties in Escondido, Calif., serves the busy North San Diego area along with her husband, Javier.
“When a referral comes in, we make the call, get an appointment, and do what it takes to work the lead,” says Zavala. “It sometimes takes a lot of negotiation, but it’s gratifying to know we’ve helped more than one family out of a very tight spot—and we get paid to do it.”
“Acting quickly and professionally is critical,” notes veteran Broker/Owner Donald Patterson, whose company, Commonwealth Real Estate Associates, has closed seven inbound ReferralExchange transactions in Georgia and Florida within the last 24 months. “You have to be good—and fast—to beat out the competition.”
Here’s how these leaders follow up with inbound referrals:
Call quickly. Patterson calls within 30 seconds, and Zavala calls on the same day.
Make follow-up calls and send emails and texts several times during a two-day period.
Include a photo of yourself, as well as any personal or customized information based on the prospect’s request.
Add them to your CRM/drip campaigns, since these types of referrals might be at the very beginning of their home search.
Converting Outbound Referrals When managing outbound referrals, agents need to have a partner with a large number of vetted agents, the systems in place to manage and track the submitted referral, and a customer service team to help everyone through the process.
Zavala says that ReferralExchange provides the national network and support they need to help their clients. They simply upload the name and information into the ReferralExchange system. “They find an appropriate agent and manage the entire transaction, and we get paid when it closes.
“When we work with clients locally, we know the area well, and we can offer the kind of insights a buyer needs to know in order to make a good buying decision,” says Zavala. “When we refer through ReferralExchange, we know our clients will get the same level of expertise from the agent they ultimately work with.
“We know that the system works, and that makes it possible for us to focus on the business at home,” adds Zavala. “In fact, we just had a referral close that we submitted in 2015.”
The process works well no matter the size of the real estate firm, says Cornelius Jackson, president and CEO of CLJ Realty, Inc., a small team of REO specialists serving all of Southern California.
“Working with ReferralExchange allows me to compete with big brokerages all across the nation easily and efficiently,” says Jackson. “I had one client in Alabama, a former coworker and a first-time buyer, who was being transferred to Chicago and wanted to buy a home there. Here I was, halfway across the country, but a ReferralExchange agent in Chicago managed the transaction and kept me updated at every point along the way—and I got my commission when they closed.”
“It’s the best system I know for increasing your business outside of your geographical area,” says Patterson. “It’s a win-win for everyone, and we’re well paid for our effort.”
Like Jackson, Patterson values the fact that his ReferralExchange association puts his company on the national stage.
“I can truthfully tell my clients that I can help them with their real estate needs anywhere in the country. And I can be very certain that they’ll be happy with the performance of the ReferralExchange agent on the other end,” says Patterson, who appreciates the ease of using the platform.
“It’s a real work-saver,” adds Patterson. “I input the information and, with one click, I know they’ll take it from there.”
Here are their tips for doing more outbound referrals:
Look for opportunities to refer. Zavala says that their most recent closing was the friend of the daughter of someone who worked in their office.
Always ask your relocating buyers or sellers if they need an agent wherever they’re moving to/from.
Focus on the local business that makes sense for you to work and refer out the rest.
Let everyone know that you have access to a nationwide network of top agents who can help them.
ReferralExchange, which began connecting real estate professionals and clients in 2005, currently has more than 24,000 agents on board nationwide, and helped connect over 250,000 agents and clients in 2018.

Too Lazy
"The three chief virtues of a programmer are: Laziness, Impatience and Hubris." -- Larry Wall
I'd been looking around for a tractable Clojure side-project for a while, but I'd been a bit lazy. I didn't want anything too demanding. I didn't want to have to learn some new sub-domain in any detail. I also didn't want to deal with complex user-interface issues. I thought it would be nice to look at some batch-processing problem where I could explore Clojure's data structures and concurrency. As it happens, we have such a data processing task at Linguamatics.
We do text mining. One of our sets of source documents is Medline. This is a bibliographic database from the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). It has more than 24 million references to life sciences and biomedical journal articles. Medline is available as a sets of gzipped XML documents via an FTP server. There is a base set published at the start of the year, and then updates are published daily. The updates have brand new records, replacement records, and deletions. The problem task is to combine the updates with the base to produce a consolidated set of sources to do text mining on.
We have various implementations of the consolidation process including Perl and Python scripts, and a Java module in our main product. We make the Perl script available as an unsupported example.
Where to get started with a Clojure version? I wanted to start from scratch. I didn't want to convert an existing program. But first I needed some data. Fortunately, NLM makes a sample set of Medline records available online.
Now how to process them? The main thing to realize is the Medline archives are basically flat and consist of two kinds of XML records: MedlineCitation and DeleteCitation. Each of these has a PubMed ID (PMID). Here is an example:
<MedlineCitation Owner="NLM" Status="MEDLINE"> <PMID Version="1">23925621</PMID> <DateCreated> <Year>2013</Year> <Month>08</Month> <Day>08</Day> </DateCreated> ... </MedlineCitation>
So the immediate thing I decided to do, and the focus of this blog post, was see if I could extract all the PMIDs from the sample dataset. Should be simple enough right? Fortunately, Clojure has some nice XML handling which works by reading the XML and treating like a Clojure data structure. I only need to call the following:
(clojure.data.xml/parse input)
I can then get the content from the document level MedlineCitationSet tag via:
(:content (clojure.data.xml/parse input))
Now I want the PMIDs from all the MedlineCitation records so I just map over the content:
(map pmid (:content (clojure.data.xml/parse input)))
where "pmid" is a function which pulls out the PMID from each record of the right type:
(defn pmid [citation] (if (= (:tag citation) :MedlineCitation) (-> (:content citation) first :content first)))
Now we can just wrap it up in something that reads the file:
(defn read-medline [file] (with-open [input (java.io.FileInputStream. file)] (map pmid (:content (clojure.data.xml/parse input)))))
and print out the result:
(defn -main [& args] (println (read-medline (first args))))
and run it using Leiningen on an old sample file:
lein run medsamp2014.xml
But I got a strange error!
(Exception in thread "main" javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: ParseError at [row,col]:[204,54] Message: Stream Closed, compiling:(C:\Users\jtrenouth\AppData\Local\Temp\form-init8439088870268620699.clj:1:112) at clojure.lang.Compiler.load(Compiler.java:7391) at clojure.lang.Compiler.loadFile(Compiler.java:7317) at clojure.main$load_script.invokeStatic(main.clj:275) at clojure.main$init_opt.invokeStatic(main.clj:277)
What on earth was going on? "Stream Closed"? Why did the stream end at some random character position: row 204, column 54? After much puzzling it dawned on me. Clojure's XML data library was returning a lazy data structure. The "read-medline" function wasn't actually reading the sample file at all. It was returning a data structure backed by the stream. The stream would be read if any one interrogated the data structure later. And calling "println" was doing exactly that.
In effect, I was passing a reference to the stream out of the "with-open" expression which was closing it on the way out. Some initial portion of the stream had already been read and buffered, but that was it. As soon as "main" method tried to print the result of the computation the closed stream had to be read again and I got the error.
What could realize the computation before it exits the "with-open" expression? As it happens, I wanted to make a set of the PMIDs and it turns out making a set isn't lazy so it does the job:
(defn read-medline [file] (with-open [input (java.io.FileInputStream. file)] (set (map pmid (:content (clojure.data.xml/parse input))))))
And we get the desired output, e.g.:
#{nil 10192115 12211266 8655018 ...}
(The "nil" is because some of the records aren't MedlineCitations.)
"So you learnt something," said a colleague while we were standing outside in the Summer sunshine. I had to agree.
"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability." -- Sam Keen
