I just saw a really stupid take from a Star Wars fan (I know, absolutely unheard of! (heavy sarcasm)) so here is a reminder:

People who ship clones with Jedi are more than aware of the power dynamic. That’s a huge part of what makes them interesting. If we were to to ship Cody with basically anyone else other than Obi Wan, it probably wouldn’t work as well because Obi Wan is precisely the last person who would ever want to pressure him or cross his boundaries.

The Jedi were totally screwed over and backed into a war that goes against so much of what they stand for and on top of that, now they have an entire army of brand new humans to lead. All of those brand new humans are totally unique and just experiencing the world for the first time, even though they’re all mature adults too. It’s a totally screwed up situation which puts so much added pressure onto the Order, so we throw romantic feelings on top of that and we’re not supposed to find that absurdly compelling?

Obi Wan is literally defined by his empathy and his kindness. The reason shipping him with Cody works so well is because there is no one who represents what the Jedi are meant to be better than him. Goodness is at the core of his character. There would never be a day that he didn’t value Cody’s wellbeing over his own feelings. Not to mention that they’re both so dedicated to their beliefs and responsibilities that a relationship is never even realistically an option while the war is going on.

Codywan is about the yearning. It’s about them both knowing they have feelings for each other and not being able to do anything about it because they are fighting for something much bigger than themselves. It’s about the infamous “after the war” conversation that they never got to have. It’s about them meeting again on Tatooine years later, finally on equal footing and completely alone in the galaxy, bonded together by their grief.

That’s why people love Codywan. The suggestion of anything otherwise is just an insult to the hard work all the artists and writers have put into making some of the most incredible fanfiction and fanart and fanon lore I’ve ever seen in any fandom ever.

P.S.— the portrayal of something in a piece of media doesn’t equal the condoning or promoting of that sort of behaviour. I thought we’d long since established that. Let’s use our brains here.

Force Sensitive clones were trained by the Jedi and paired with their own Clone Commanders. After the war, Knight Cody and Commander Rex continue hunting down Sith Artefacts and fighting the darkness in the galaxy.

One way or another Cody would get Rex to safety.... the Sith Temple hidden in the heart of the Forest Maze hadn't wanted to let them leave...

This is your daily reminder that Cody is a grown man. All of the clones are, obviously with the exception of Omega and Boba.

You are free to dislike Codywan or any other clone/jedi ships, but let’s drop the narrative that the clones are children because they just aren’t.

Yes, in terms of the passing of time, all of the clones are 13 or under at the time of Order 66 however it has been well established that they age and mature differently to regular people. They age roughly twice as fast. This isn’t a debate, it is objectively the truth. It’s canon. They are not children.

You don’t have to like everything. You don’t even need a reason to dislike something. You’re allowed to not like it. You don’t need to frame it as being problematic to stop other people from liking it, especially since in this case it just isn’t.

The power dynamic between a general and his commander is another conversation entirely, and it’s one that is woven into Codywan discourse and something we do take seriously, since it would be out of character for both Cody and Obi Wan to not do that, but when it comes to age, it just isn’t an issue like other SW ships. This is arguably the least toxic ship Obi Wan is actually involved in since neither of them willingly would ever want to hurt each other and because they’re both such good communicators.

Just ignore ships you don’t like, especially when they’re unproblematic. It’s really not hard.

if obi wan ever had his own children i think anakin would HATE them. that's literally his father/brother/entire family once his mother dies, and he would absolutely not be ok with other people becoming more important to obi wan than him. this is kind of in line with the way i think anakin would not be too happy about obi wan taking on another padawan, but magnified by a lot, because this wouldn't even be anakin competing any more - he knows that for him children would come before anything, so that's how he assumes it would be for obi wan too.

i don't actually think obi wan would ever have children and even if he did, i very much struggle to picture him prioritising them over anakin because that is his first child 100%. maybe he would love them the same amount but even that i doubt tbh. anakin is such an intense person that he kind of monopolises everything - e.g., i think obi wan was extremely fond of ahsoka but i don't think he cared about her as much as/more than anakin. like he let her get kicked out of the jedi, as opposed to when he evacuated himself to anakin's home planet to watch over anakin's kid, having entrusted anakin's other kid to a close friend of his. anakin is fully his most favourite person ever and i actually don't think even a biological child could compete with that
