I was never the same person after FFVII Rebirth, i need to get rid of my Cloud brainrots. So here is some BF Cloud headcanons (god help me i need him in my life) ...

As we all know, deepdown Cloud is a goofball by heart. Friendly banter, silly inner jokes that only you two could understand is not new.

Prefer to have dates with less people.

Surprisingly not shy with PDA, just normal ones like handholdings, would rest his hand on your shoulder or back, etc.

Took you out with Fenrir; Nicely polished. His back seat served only for you.

Babysitting dates! Amusement park / arcade, the four of you; You, Cloud, Denzel, and Marlene. Would give them everything he got in trade for Marlene and Denzel's smile, something he wishes to have when he was younger.

Denies so hard when you tell him he's actually good at tending kids. The pink hue on his cheeks and ears can't lie tho.

Quiet bold in private, isn't afraid to initiate things once he's comfortable enough with you, pulling you on his lap when he's feeling a bit touch starved; only SOMETIMES he can malfunctioned after he make a move on you.

Your arms hugging your body wearily, soft sniffles and of course, your ragged breathing was all you had let him see. His approach was sincere, walking slowly up to you just to place a hand on your shoulder, he sure had improved on how to just... listen over the years. "Talk to me" But still you wouldn't budge, turning your face from him, embarrassed he had to see you like this once again. So after huffing out a sigh he seemed to have been holding for quite a while now, he placed his left hand on your unoccupied shoulder and pulled you closer to him. Then you let go, ugly sobbing into his chest as you fisted his shirt. His hands trying the most soothing patterns he recalls you drawing on his back after a rough day. He would caress as tenderly as he could, not quite being used to touching a texture softer than the handle of his sword, to hear such pretty cries and not from death. "Sorry, I just-" You hiccuped after you had rambled your sorrows into the tension-filled air of your room. However, he didn't budge, muffling your priceless apologies into his chest as he opted to just hold you for however you needed him to. That was his way of showing you how much he appreciated you, everything you had done to soothe him, he will reciprocate too.

Your cheekbones glistening and getting irritated from the saltiness of your tears, and the more he tried to sneak a peek out of the them, the worse he felt. "Look at me please" He whispered as he delicately placed his still gloved hands over yours, finally prying them off your gorgerous face. "There we go, as beautiful as I remember" You didn't know why, but at first glance, his dumb but somewhat anxious smile looking down at you made you mimic his own expression, earning a playful laugh from him. It really wasn't fair, you thought, you could never be upset around him. "What? Got something funny on my face?" He joked before swiftly moving his hands and reaching the sides of your waist, nagging your sides until he had to catch you from falling on your ass as you laughed. "You're such a dork" You giggled out after he lifted you into his arms, your feet dangling off the floor as your arms were trapped under a bear hug. Hearts beating shakily into each other the more he nuzzled into you. "Yeah, but you love it"

★ Tbh I think he's the most compressive of the three

★ Would and will listen to you ramble for hours of necessary, he's such a hopeless romantic

★ Not a fan of physical contact but if you are, he would not complain if you wanted to cuddle with him

★ Will do whatever you felt more comfortable with, if you just want him to listen and be there, he will, if you want to be alone, he will leave you be (but ofc he later would be looking for you to see if you were fine)

"Who was it?" A sudden deep voice rang through your ears, making you jolt up from the floor as you looked around to spot the source of it. And of course, it was your deary sneaky vampire. "Jesus" You choked out before turning your back to him, telling him that one, he really should stop sneaking on you like that and two, of course it was nothing. Either way, as soon as he heard your pained voice he knew you required some comfort, he's been there already. The more you stepped away, the more he tried to approach you, finally getting to wrap his cold arms on your waist as your back pressed against his chest. . . . You both stayed like that for a while, rocking back and forth as he lulled you, letting you cry out your last tears before you finally felt relief, slumping down on him as sleepiness took over your features.

He huffed out what seemed a quiet laugh before dragging you back into your bed, sitting on it first as he let you nestle on his lap, your cheek pressed against his shoulder as you slowly dozed off on him. His cloack sure was comforting.

Bonus!!

"Don't let such a stupid thing get into your head dummy" "Yeah, she's right y/n" You swore you couldn't feel any warmer in that moment, the girl's you've always looked up to were sweeter than ever. And yeah, it was a stupid thing you were upset about too.

Then they both took you on one of the best improvised little dates ever, taking walks and admiring the (not-so-clean) streets of Midgar. Then Aerith took you to her house, Tifa following shortly behind you as they both giggled playfully.

A cuddling session followed closely and you were absolutely living it. Snacking on some homemade food Aerith's mom had worked on the day before and nuzzling your head onto Aerith's chest meanwhile Tifa had her arms around you for behind.

You sighed out, your eyes not puffy anymore as you glanced at both of them. Earning more sweet comments from the brunnete and nods from the bartender.

AGSZC + Sephiroth Collecting Paper Scraps = Warm Fuzzy Shenanigans

AGZC leaving Sephiroth a variety of notes in various places, stuck to various things. Some are romantic, some are platonic, some are a simple doodle. They're left in books, on shelves, on walls, attached to magnetic surfaces, attached to each other, etc.

Sephiroth has a scrapbook full of them. The random bits of paper can be put wherever, but the ones from his partners are special.

No one lets arguments they're having seep into the messages, even toward each other. These are specifically for Sephiroth's use in his collection. It doesn't need to be sullied like that.

Sometimes the notes are fastened to gifts or to harmless pranks. A discussion had to be held about this after Sephiroth ended up with a note smelling richly of premium catnip and 16 hours of his life unaccounted for. The incidents that occurred during that time frame were totally unrelated and absolutely couldn't be proven that he had any part in them.

Genesis uses this as an excuse to buy quality stationary. Obscenely priced, quality stationary. Never mind that a block of notepaper would've done just fine, of course...

Angeal is at war with so many sides of his personality because of this habit Sephiroth has. He has to stop himself from cleaning everything up. He still doesn't fully settle until it's called a "collection" and Sephiroth is the owner of empty scrapbooks to fill.

Zack takes it as a challenge to leave him notes in as many unusual places as possible. When he gets told off for leaving one on the light fixture in the middle of the Soldier cafeteria during peak hungry times, he goes on to find another way to make leaving notes just as special as what's inside them. He eventually turns to origami. It has the bonus side effect of being a calming activity for him.

Cloud simply leaves his messages in the most simple, straightforward of manner. Middle of the fridge? Check. Next to the fridge handle? Also check. Coffee mug? Check. Coffee maker? Check. Bathroom mirror? Check. Masamune? Check. Pauldron? Check. Office (that was closed last night & securely locked with clearance he doesn't yet have to be in there alone) Chair? Check. Office ("[ditto]") Desk? Check. Office ("[guess. double dare you.]") Computer Screen? Check. He may be a simple backwater expert country boy, but his feelings for his partners are immense.

Long eloquent messages? Genesis, Cloud.

Average sized notes with a paragraph of words? Angeal, Cloud.

Simple, single sentence missive? Zack, Cloud.

An ostentatious note slipped into an equally ostentatious envelope, sealed with wax and accentuated with gold leaf containing the one word message of "Bitch. ❤️"? Genesis

Single label from the newest label maker saying "beloved"? Angeal, Zack.

One love letter filled with drunken love proclamations addressed to "Sexiroth TooFuckin' Hot": Zack

Post-It with a chocobo and kitten sketch done, smelling faintly of overcrowded cafeteria and broke bitch? Cloud.

This is the most precious headcanon ever hhhhhnnn. I wonder if years later, when Sephiroth is alone amidst those towering bookshelves in the basement, clutching his latest text, his eyes ever flicker and strain, momentarily tricking him into believing he's holding that scrapbook—that life is still good, still whole. But then he blinks, and the illusion shatters. He's left staring at yet another horrific truth about his creation. The scrapbook is long gone.

Random body headcanons for AGSZC:

Zacks hyper mobile. His elbows do the thing where they bend to far out when he sticks them up. He can also touch his thumb completely to his wrist and crack his hips. Down side of this is so many broken bones.

Cloud has got little scars on the back of his hands and calf’s from various canings.

However the stupidest scar he has is the one on the inside of his lip where zack bit him as a joke… they were not dating at the time.

Angeal has a couple of scars on his right forearm and elbow from the time he had to get the bone pinned because Genesis pushed him out of a tree when they were eight.

Sephiroth doesn’t really scar unless it’s a deep deep wound. He’s got a few surgery scars but the dumbest one is the one on his wrist that is a suspicious match for Genesis’s dental records (it’s exactly what you think.)

Cloud and Genesis and both incredibly flexible people.

Angeal is about as stiff as a board. Genesis has tried to loosen him up with yoga. It did not work.

Zacks not inflexible, however he overestimates how bendy he actually is and usually hurts himself.

Zack can dance he just chooses to be bad at it. The only time you’ll catch him dancing properly is when he’s trying to wooh his partners.

While Cloud and Genesis are very flexible, Sephiroth has mastered the ability of being able to fit all six foot five of himself in the gap behind the boiler in the airing closet. Many hours have been lost to that place.

Zack runs hotter than the sun.

Genesis runs surprisingly cold for someone who favours fire materia.

Cloud frequently does not recognise that he feels cold. He will walk around with blue lips until Angeal wrestles him into a jumper.

Angeals shoulders have been known to be wider than some door frames.

Don’t ask me where this came from. I do not have the answer.

is cloud also a lesbian in your mind? i feel like the dynamic between cloud and sephiroth would be interesting either way. either we've got "here's this cis man who gets she/her as soon as he puts on a dress, and he doesn't even want it" or "gay rivalry" and those both slap :D also your art is AWESOME and i think it's SO COOL

haha yes my cloud is butch, i've posted art of it a couple times and am planning to draw more of it. it took me a long time to settle on this hc before "debuting" it because i wanted to be sure i could defend my choice if prompted, much as i did for sephiroth. i think cloud's relationship with gender is compelling and complex. i'm going to put most of this under a readmore because it's going to end up long as hell even if i show restraint.

the shinra propaganda machine made the military and SOLDIER many young people's heroes as a very idealized version of masculinity, strength, and courage. cloud aspired to all three of these traits in a way that i feel resonates with a lot of kids who don't totally relate to being a "girl," speaking from experience. i also just think child cloud's design really gives little tomboy energy.

cloud's character arc is a conflict of identity and self-actualization (in some ways, so is sephiroth's). i can imagine him seeing zack as a model of positive masculinity in his life and latching onto it in his post-coma confusion. gender is confusing even without a very fractured sense of self. some butches might identify as transmasc for a while; some continue to identify with the term, while for others, time and reflection leads them to settle more comfortably in ambiguity- butch, nonbinary, etc. i see cloud falling somewhere in this spectrum in the end. i think, ultimately, he does not identify as a man, while still wanting to be masc. he/him lesbian, more genderqueer than binary. i do think he was on T for a bit. being butch is awesome.

but as to the idea of a "gay rivalry" between cloud and sephiroth, i am not interested in sefikura because the knowledge that cloud idealized sephiroth as a child and worked under her as a teenager makes me uncomfortable. but i do find their dynamic in ffvii and onwards to be compelling in a lot of ways and hope to draw them interacting more often. since you're asking about their gender presentation, i'm especially amused by the idea of younger cloud being like, "man i hope i can be masc like sephiroth one day" when sephiroth herself comes to identify as a woman in the end. oops!

i like cloti, believe it or not, despite its very heteronormative depictions in a lot of fan content and, let's be honest, some canon. so i would say i enjoy my personal vision for cloti, just as i do enjoy my personal vision for aeriseph. for me (as a lesbian), tifa's affection and commitment to him makes a looot more sense through the lens of "i WANT that fail butch." we've all been there. on the whole, cloti is a lot more messy and complicated than many domestic-cloti-bliss fans typically acknowledge, when that's what interests me in the first place.

as for the wall market section, i never really saw the crossdressing scene as gender-affirming. it's definitely funny (aerith and tifa are SO into it, it's hysterical). cloud didn't exactly enjoy it, but he didn't seem upset, moreso embarrassed. very butch to me.

as a final note, these days it can sometimes be hard for me to truly latch onto a character if i cannot come at them from some kind of lesbian angle, but for me it typically has to be well-thought-out. anyway, this has been long af but thanks also for the compliment about my art! i'm very glad to be able to draw again after an injury-related hiatus.

Would prefer to chill alone and think deeply about what kind of parent he'd want to be and all the places he'd want his child to see

His friends have to drag him out of the house because he ended up brooding inside for too long

You bicker a bit at first because you can't keep your hands off him and his growing stomach but he likes space. You end up compromising on using a stethoscope to listen to the baby

Rude

Surprisingly chill. Content, even. Talks even less than usual.

He always wanted at least one child and he blushes occasionally thinking about taking care of his little one

There's a few instances of clumsiness if he tries to train while showing but he gets used to it pretty quickly

Reno is extra protective

Constantly cooking his own cravings. He even gets up in the middle of the night to cook something you could easily make or buy if he asked, making him pretend to be huffy when you scold him but he secretly enjoys the fussing

Reno

A bit annoyed because anything that gets in the way of him doing his job well is, well, annoying

To everyone's surprise, he becomes less reckless but doesn't give up the tendency entirely

If any opponent goes for his stomach, they're dead. No questions asked

Demands you touch his stomach at least once a day. He's proud of himself

Chatters endlessly about it to those subordinate to him, to the point where everyone dreads getting assigned to him in the field

Tseng

Takes being pregnant like a champ, at first

It's a real hassle getting him to slow down, to the point where everyone has to outright refuse to spar with him (and secretly start completing his paperwork) later on in the pregnancy

Has a mini-crisis when he can't do his job fulltime anymore because he struggles when he's not feeling useful

Repeatedly informs you that you will do the bulk of the childrearing because he intends to return to work immediately (changes his mind completely after laying eyes on the baby)

Vincent

Not annoyed like Cloud but mopey. Behaves as if his life experiences will translate into a possible curse he will pass on to his child

He can try to mope inside the coffin but the lid doesn't fit flush near the end of the pregnancy. It's adorable but you must not giggle; it will make him pouty

When not moping, he's the exact opposite. Serious™️. Must make up for what happened with Sephiroth

You pray the hormones will chill him out somehow. Many discussions, lots of reassurance that things won't be as bad as he assumes they'll be

Rufus

Alternates between pissy (how dare this happen to me? Why can't you do this?!) and proud (well, of course, my child will be better than all of you peasants) before adapting quite well. In fact, he uses the pregnancy as an excuse to shut down bickering during board meetings whenever possible

Becomes a bit of a paranoid shut in. It's because he feels more vulnerable but he readily admit to it

You wake up to Darkstar on the bed in between you because he wants to protect

Becomes a terror about his cravings and it may lead to actual arguments if he doesn't get what he wants immediately

Also informs you that he will go right back to work but does not change his mind

Reeve

Poor man suffers from excessive nausea and struggles to gain the proper amount of weight

You have to work together with his department employees to make sure he eats enough. He hardly notices because he's still absorbed in his work

The best baby shower gift is a Cait Sith plushie, maybe one you knit/crocheted yourself. The hormones make him feel so touched that he weeps

Do you have height headcanons for AGSZC?

Not anything unusual I don’t think but I definitely do!

Angeal and Sephiroth (as of Crisis Core) I imagine are around the same height—Angeal seems bigger because he’s stockier while Sephiroth is more lithe, but I think Sephiroth would actually end up having an inch or two on Angeal. Both of them being in the upper 6’ range. Genesis meanwhile, despite clearing 6’, is in the lower range, and is fated to suffer from short person inferiority complex rage because he’s always standing next to two freakishly tall giants.

As kids though (First Soldier time frame) Sephiroth was the shortest and Angeal the tallest for a while—Genesis was very smug about being taller than the great hero. Then Sephiroth hit a freakish growth spurt and promptly left Genesis in the dust. Genesis has been unspeakably bitter about this ever since and will continue to be so for all eternity.

Zack at the beginning of Crisis Core I like to think was a decently average-sized guy. Over the span of the game though he goes through a slow but steady growth spurt until he becomes at least as tall as Genesis. Everyone always forgets this though, and every time he comes and stands next to someone who knew him when he was younger they are sent into a mental breakdown because wasn’t he like a foot shorter than this yesterday??? And now he’s taller than me and ripped?????

Cloud has always been actually shorter than everyone sorry man. Short guy energy. Teeny chocobo lmaoooo grew a little during the time in Hojo’s lab and remains unused to the growth spurt, constantly tripping over/running into stuff when he’s not focused on a battle. Still shorter than almost everyone though rip

A low grumble of approval made your belly vibrate. His head was laying down on your stomach as you were sat on the headboard of the bed, your legs placed by his sides as he had his arms hugging your middle part.

He hugged you as if you were about to leave the room ( which was indeed, not happening ). His eyes were closed and his breathing was serene too, taking the chance to play with his hair meanwhile.

You were both winding down from the day, his hair still a bit damp from the shower he had just taken. And god did he look cute all sleepy on your belly.

You smiled, enjoying one of the very few moments Cloud would let you see his soft side.

Not even 5 seconds after you had shouted that into what you thought was your empty living room, he was already hoisting you up in the air by your waist like the puppy that was waiting for his owner he was.

You tried to shush him, but it was quite a dificult task since he had his whole body on top of you on the sofa. His arms embracing your back, almost as if he didn't care about the cramps he knew he would get, he just cared about you.

He looked at you over where his head was laying on your chest, pointing out how pretty you looked when you smiled. God he is such a dork.

Sephiroth
