One of my headcanons for FMP is that prior to her Games, Wiress had a girlfriend for a little bit who was her first love and first everything but they broke up for whatever reason before the 49th Games. Wiress didn’t date much after her Games or after the events of SOTR

And Beetee (prior to Joule) had some brief hookups with men & women in Three but stopped because he just wasn’t into the hookup scene after The Capitol started prostituting him out

So my headcanon is basically that both of them had prior relationship experiences before getting together

Also D3 work culture absolutely has little child labor laws!!! I’m actually writing a master post on D3 lore and culture (for my own sanity and others) and one of my big things is work culture and how work takes priority in the District over things such as eating and sleeping (I talked about this as well in my Beetee Latier headcanons)

(I was going to add more but Tumblr posted it before it was ready so everything else will have to wait). 😁

My idea for the Smee Twins post d3 is that the younger two sons of Quigley Smiegel and Mollie Rauch—or First-Mate Smee and First-Mate Mollie as they’ve come to be known—Sterling Ivan Smiegel  ('Squirmy') and Skipper Irving Smiegel ('Squeaky') have both grown closer to their first cousin-once-removed, Best Bud (or as I’ve named him: Christopher ‘Topher’ Thompson), which leads to them both deciding that being pirates is not for them. 

Neither of them want to be bossed around like their father continues to allow himself to be. They don’t want to be playing second fiddle to their friend(s) by becoming their first mate like their mother, Mollie, has been doing in their eyes since the moment she joined Red Jessica’s Crew. Like Samson Icarus Smiegel (Sammy) has been doing since he and Harriet were diapers. They don’t want to take care of someone who bosses them around like both their parents and their big brother do. 

Squeaky doesn’t want to take orders and ask no questions. He doesn’t want to be looked down upon forever—he wants to make a name for himself and one for his twin brother: one that’s more than just the mockery that is Smee.

He doesn’t want to be known as the great nephew of one dead sailor who got eaten by crocodiles and the great nephew of a retired sailor who changed his last name just to get away from the legacy of his brothers. He doesn’t want to be known as the son of two first-mates—one of which has a disturbing lack of self respect and takes abuse from his captain and crew. He doesn’t want to be known as just a twin or the younger brother of THE SAMMY SMEE: the only person who had told Harriet Hook what to do and survived. 

Squeaky Smee knows what he wants in life and plans to get it. 

His brother, Squirmy Smee, is slightly less sure of what he wants but knows that he, like his twin brother, doesn’t want to be mocked for his last name forever. Squirmy also doesn’t want to be in constant danger and legal trouble, like he would be if he decided to stay a pirate forever. He doesn’t want to work at Hook’s Inlet and Shack & Hook’s Clocks & Curiosity Shop for the rest of his life or set sail on the open sea with the Hooks forever, barely stepping a foot on land during the year: constantly getting sea sick and losing his food rations. 

Luckily for them their parents are supportive even if they don’t understand their desire to be non-pirates and even luckier for them, this is a path both Sammy and Topher are proud of them for deciding to turn away from. 

The Smee twins like Auradon Prep and their eyes were open to the countless possibilities that were available to them the moment the two of them were brought over from the Isle because of Auradon Prep. So both of them strive to do the best they can in school. 

It isn’t easy.

Even with the help of their family, the Hook siblings, and tutors it isn’t easy.

The education their parents received a hundred years back is nothing like the one the twins are being given now—and the education system on the isle was…strange and left a lot to be desired, to say the least. Even with the extra stuff Sammy and Harriet tried to teach them whenever an old Auradon Textbook popped up. 

But they manage. 

Squeaky is an A+ student and constantly makes honor roll while Squirmy is a solid B student: both of them are active members in their community— both inside of school and out. 

Squeaky is a part of the Debate Club, the Chess Club, the Astronomy Club, and Marching Band and he enjoys all of them thoroughly and has at least one friend from each different club as well as multiple from the Marching Band. 

He has a busy schedule with all of these, all his classes, his chores at home, family time, and his shifts at Hook’s Inlet and Shack but he's never been happier (it helps that he doesn't have to put up with the disrespectful shit customers on the isle would pull as much anymore). 

Squirmy is a part of Drama Club, The Jousting Team, and The Swimming Team.

He, like Squeaky, has a forever busy schedule but has never been happier. He's sure that one day, due to being allowed to step foot in Auradon and attend school in Auradon, that he will become even more happier.

Due to the influence of Auradon, Sammy, and Topher/Best Bud (not to mention being away from the isle), both Smee twins have grown: Squeaky has gone from a shy and avid reader to a quiet, insightful, team player and avid reader with a plan while Squirmy has gone from a shy and curious boy to an energetic, competitive, always up for a challenge, quiet young man. 

Both of them are thriving.

Both of them are happy.

This doesn't mean that they don't still get dragged into the antics of Hazel and their other Isle born and raised friends, however. 

They do. 

The two of them, like Sammy, are just far better at hiding it than people would ever expect. 

You'll have them smiling politely, going “yes sir, no sir. Yes ma'am, no ma'am.” and answering questions at school during the week. And then have them running and ducking the royal guard with Hazel during the weekend, and back at school the first thing Monday with an oblivious smile and a perfectly reasonable excuse for why no one has been able to see or hear them for the past two days if they're questioned. 

Which, for the most part when Fairy Godmother was still headmistress, they never were because those two had her absolutely convinced that they were too mature, well-behaved, and scared of breaking the rules to do any such thing. 

(Much to the frustration of aks and vks who knew better alike). 

Uma, on the other hand, absolutely knows they aren't as innocent as they seem but as long as she can't find any proof and they don't get caught (and don't cause too much of a mess for her to clean up) she doesn't care. She's a headmistress, yes, but she remembers being a teenager and knows they know better than to go too far. 

After all, while Mr. Smee and First Mate Mollie can't discipline their kids to save their life due to being far too nice and caring (not to mention that Smee’s kids, while they love him, have trouble taking him seriously), Harriet Hook and Sammy Smee can make those boys behave with just a look. 

(You don't get to be one of the most feared Pirate Captains on the isle and the person who can get away with telling her what to do for no reason. Harriet Hook babysat more of the vks than any of them would like to admit and she knows too much, and Sammy? He knows stuff even Harriet doesn't know and he, like Hunter de Vil, has a lot of stocked up favors just waiting to be claimed). 

In conclusion, the Smee Twins aren't pirates when they're older. But they aren't 100% perfectly behaved Auradon boys either. 

They're vks with a plan, looking for better futures that they plan to earn without Auradon ever getting wind of their mischievous antics. And they're going to win the cup in the Auradon Kingdom Cup Games team or no team.

I guess i do have a lot to say about Cthulhu in Doom.

In that one Quake related post, i mentioned that Doom always had potential for horror and that Hell always had potential for surrealism and abstraction. Specially because Hell is an evil place that "knows it" and borrows elements from other worlds then corrupts them. It's why demons once looked like this:

Hell is a place about concepts like sin, it's also why concepts like the 7 deadly sins, 9 layers of Dante's Inferno etc should be explored in the series with a Doom touch. It'd be cool.

Meanwhile, with Lovecraft, we're talking about literature where "incomprehensible horrors" are talked about because of the literature aspect. And i also assume that these beings are so weird and out there, they're not even aware that their existence drives us insane maybe. Because of this, it's how Hell and "Lovecraftland" can seem like opposite in those specific areas. I guess this is why Doom as a series gets more spotlight than the setting of Quake 1 (specially since Doom has more stuff than Quake 1's setting at this point).

But even then, these new Doom games also made weird choices like making cybernetic demons as UAC creations and Immora as a whole. (And i'm sure some of you know how i feel about those but whatever) But basically, i always thought Doom's Hell could have "eldritch" stuff without the need of actual Lovecraftian worlds. Maybe it's still my occasional "purity" with Doom's setting because id seems to be expanding Doom "horizontally" while i think of expanding it "vertically".

I guess one can also point out, outside the Hell tech, the Cthulhu design is still "general" as far as depicitons go. Made me want to bring up the Takayuki Takeya take on the monster

(look it up because this photo alone doesn't do justice) (even then, it still sort of acknowledge the tentacles being octopus-like, i guess)

At the same time, AtimZarr1 on Doomworld made an interesting point: id just used a basic taken on Cthulhu right after presenting a very creative Heaven. Because a point that could be made is "if old id thought of a heaven in Doom before, it'd probably not have a unique name like Urdak". It if looks like Cthulhu, it will be Cthulhu. I wonder if it's wrong to assume we could have Dracula in Doom or even beasts from Egyptian Mythology or Japanese Yokai. I know Q1 had the mission packs using Thor's hammer and some new themes but there's also D64's cut levels with Mayan stuff for example.

In general, i'd still prefer if some demons are clearly native from Hell or at least took over other creatures since Hell IS the main bad guy: and the literal ultimate essential dimension of evil. Hell is the definition of evil as a place.

(or maybe have some demons be just representations of some different beliefs and go full Shin Megami Tensei)

I do like the enemy designs like the new Cacodemon and Cosmic Baron, they give me D3 vibes. Actually i won't be surprised if id retcons D3 by making it so that the demons are related to the Cosmic realm.

And what about Quake? That is the game with the Lovecraft stuff right? But as expected, Doom stole a lot from Quake's chances that even the Sentinels are arguably fitting for Quake. At that point, expand on the D1/2 ports in the Fortress of Doom by porting more games, including the classic Quake and Heretic/Hexen series lol.

It also turns out id is not planning to use TDA to connect Doom to Quake. Does this mean Quake still has a chance for a singleplayer title? I dunno lol. Speaking of Doom eating up Quake: When are we getting Crash and Phobos as actual Doom characters? Like their expansions and shit, why not?

Or if they do another D3 re-release (one that's actually good), canonize Trent Reznor's sounds even if as an option.

i'm still trying to decide where exactly hector is from, but he's half-greek/half-black either from kentucky (home of bluegrass music) or louisiana (because any reason to visit new orleans + why not potentially add in creole/cajun roots as well, amirite?). he and bob would meet as part of a summer internship at GUARD, forced upon both by their parents/training (bob's dad wants her to beef up her college apps/keep an eye on her after an incident after a party; hector needs it as part of his godling training/working with other superhumans/gods/etc). neither wanted to be there for different reasons but end up enjoying each other's company in a very short while

believe me when in my head these two fucking morons take forever to get to the couple stage because the first few months they don't even realize they're flirting with each other (it doesn't count if it's not intentional, they will tell you that right away)

anyway

how hector come to be:

euterpe makes her rounds in different countries and one night in a little hole-in-the-wall bar, she comes across veevie devereaux and her banjo playing some of the sweetest bluegrass euterpe ever heard

enough so that it knocks up euterpe by the song alone and 9 months later, hector is born (euterpe is one of the few immortals who actually explains shit to mortals, so veevie is informed of the whens and hows well before the birth). veevie raises hector -named after her grandfather- for the most part, with euterpe visiting during the year + summers in greece. hector moves between both ma (euterpe) and momma's homes when he gets older/gets the teleporting ability

so while a good chunk of the gods still exist and are still making babies with mortals and all that, they are a lot more stringent with who gets to become a demi-god/full god status nowadays. any child of a mythological pantheon has to earn their aspect(s)/divinity, otherwise they just go through life as an average mortal. there's training/tests (quests)/schooling, and while hector has recently reached the bare minimum stage (minor strength/invulnerability), he's slacking on going much further. at least until he meets bob and decides hey maybe i should try harder at being a god or whatever

Today while I was looking at the past 10 years of my SRC, I notice that the years I was depressed either I had moon in Capricorn, Pisces or in the 12th house. Now, this year I have the moon in Capricorn in the 12th house and next year in Taurus (Natal Moon) in the 12th house again. I know for sure this next to years are going to be hell...

Just the day of my birthday (8/16) my cousin Committed Su*s*d3 & was founded the 25th... My grand Father was diagnosed with dementia & my dad too... My aunt ( she raised me) Sounds really depressed too because the hole situation... Its only been 2 weeks since my birthday...

After I made this post, In September, I lost one of my beloved clients do to a mistake of the agency I work for, that gave me a lil bit of depression.

Now on October, I found out one of my siblings is trying to be slick with me and that got me more sad, To a point I’m moving out of town. I have started to look around to see which town best fits what I want.

There was a big local event on today that foster carers were encouraged to go to with their children. I felt like there was no way I could go with both children, Mr 7 is all high speed and enthusiasm, and Miss 5 is all walk at toddler pace in her own direction. Neither child has any danger awareness or ability to reliably follow directions (stop, wait, let’s go over here etc). In the end Miss 5 is not very well so I left her at home with d3 (who I pay £££ to provide childcare) and just took Mr 7.

I thought, am I being a wimp or just over dramatic , not being up for taking both children?? Then I got to the event and saw other foster carers with multiple children, but the children were walking alongside adults, doing as they were asked, not screaming or head banging…. I had even forgotten that children could do this!! I am so used to hanging onto them at all times it’s become normal to me. I only coped with Mr 7 because a staff member helped me out and let me jump in the queue for food (Mr 7 does not want food and does not like queueing). He didn’t have any meltdowns but did get close at two points - one when he couldn’t find a bow and arrow stall (?!) and once when we couldn’t find anywhere giving out lollipops 🤷‍♀️. The rest of the time, I just followed his lead, so he spent about 40 minutes on the bouncy castle and 30 minutes playing his own made up version of 4 in a row (he won 11 games to 2 but the rules changed every game 😂 I just insisted I had won on two occasions so that he didn’t always get to win).

Later this afternoon, I got a text from the people who were going to do our holiday care for a week in the autumn. They came to meet the children a fortnight ago, and messaged today to say that they think that it will be too much to have the two of them for a week so they are pulling out. Gutted. And not gonna lie, a bit pissed off. Because I will have had them for 5 months by then and they can’t manage 1 week. It also reminds me that these two children do have a lot of needs. It’s just become so normalised to me that I don’t notice it so much anymore. Back to the drawing board for the holiday care hey ho.

Took Mr 7 swimming late afternoon and it was just what we both needed in this heat. He had a great time and we didn’t get home till 7pm, just in time to do Miss 5’s bedtime and then Mr 7 has an hour of quiet play in his room. I hope Miss 5 is on the mend now. She screams the place down and thrashes and spits when I try and get calpol into her (reference earlier posts about giving medication) and I am so over that six hourly battle!

Hi I'm about to go back to my roots and Descendants post.

Let's judge D4 outfits!

So first we have the look of the younger version of some of the Villains...they look too modern. I think they should've done a more 90/80's fashion bc if we do a wonky time like of descendants then all the Villains got in the Island of the Lost between the 90's and 2000's (I could be wrong tho) so these guys look too modern, specifically Maleficent. They don't look bad just...out of place.

I kinda like Maleficent's horns, wish her bangs were a little less short. Hades is serving, I've seen pictures of Hook and no. I hate it. Uma's aunt...no.

Okay...so, Chloe and Red. (Hate her name being Red. Like... c'mon)

Actually I don't hate these, I just wished the color palette was different. I hate how each descendants movie the looks became more and more monochromatic. These look like costumes. They look fake, and uncomfortable, no real person would wear these, they look impractical.

I would change those ugly ass pants though. I know what they're trying to do, but no. And the wigs, I was never a fan of the wigs in descendants.

Also I just wished they would stop using leather for everything. I like Chloe's jackets but not in that color nor fabric. Same with Red's.

Uma.

No. Just no. I actually never lived for Uma's outfits (except for the one she wears at the end of D3 that one is really cute)...but this is just ugly. Is....too much. There's so much going on here. I hate it. I hate her ugly ass skirt. I hate that unflattering jacket. I wish I could burn those ugly boots.

The Queen of Hearts.

She is kinda cunty. Dare I say she ate...but she left half of the plate because it's all red, I just wish there was just something more, some black or white accents. But honestly I kinda love this.

Cinderella.

This dress is so unflattering omg. Who did this to her? I hate her crown also and why is her hair blue? I mean I like Chloe's hair being like blue but as far as I know Brandy's Cinderella didn't have blue hair. I don't like it. Her make up does look a little gorgeous.

Just a big sigh for the prince, they didn't even try on him.

Sketchbook highlights!! I officially filled out every page of my big sketchbook (I've got a replacement all lined up), and now it's time for my picks of the sketchbook challenge.

1. First Page - My first take on vintage style! I don't think it turned out too bad, but it does serve as an excellent example of just how long I've had this sketchbook. The raw photo highlights it more, but you can still tell i was not yet working with a colorless pencil in order to blend my colored pencils yet, and that era of my drawings was way back in early high school

2. Last Page - Me and Roxie, decked out in May flowers! I've only ever done this with one sketchbook previously, but I do plan on saving the last page of all my sketchbooks for a Temmy and Roxie celebratory picture

3. Worst Page - As a hype-up countdown to the YouTube premiere of Detroit Reawakening, I decided to draw vintage pictures of teaser screenshots for the film and post them in the five days leading up to the premiere. The ones for Tina and Chris turned out alright, but this one for Gavin was a t r o c i o u s and I can't believe I let myself sketch something so horrid, let alone ink, color, and post it

4. Best Page - I drew this way back in the day for the D3 Artfest and the prompt "Nines vs. Richard." I'm still super proud with how it turned out given the more anime-esque style, the unique poses, and the slanted perspective

5. Honorable Mention - I made this vintage portrait of Michelle Iannantuono a couple years ago to celebrate the three-year anniversary of Detroit Evolution, and I reeeeeally took my time with the whole process in order to get her face just right. This picture would absolutely be put in the "Best Page" section, but unfortunately I must disqualify it since it's not actually *in* my sketchbook anymore. I cut it out to give as a gift to Michelle during the Detroit Octopunk event!

beetee and wiress are basically soulmates, bonded for life type shit, but i do have some various other relationships with him, mostly relating to ocs.

i will definitely earn the title of #1 beetee torturer after this because none of these are very shippy… there’s a lot of angst…

read this post for more information of paris, and more info about her relationship with beetee, but in short, she’s the victor of the 39th hunger games, is from D1, and is commonly sold with beetee. i say with because it was common in the earlier days after their victories (40th-52nd ish) for them to be forced to have s*x together for the entertainment of capitol citizens. voyeurism basically. it still happens sometimes, but it’s not as common anymore, as they both have “normal” buyers (basically ones who only/typically buy them over any other victor) that don’t want to see that more than they want to actually have s*x with them.

they were never together romantically (with their consent at least, the capitol does what the capitol does) but both had considered it at least once as it really had felt like they were the only one who understand what the other was going through. it completely fell through as soon as they both realized they basically have nothing in common and that they were too intertwined in each other’s trauma to ever be more than friends.

age 32 at the 47th games, now age 60, daughter of the previous minister of treasury, wife of a current gamemaker. she’s actually one of the nicer ones beetee has met, and he doesn’t mind her as much as he minds some of his other buyers. her appointments are usually a little easier, as there usually a day (at a party or social event that her husband couldn’t attend due to his work) and then only one night. the floreana’s are also one of the only families he’s ever met in the capitol who genuinely love each other.

— Aurelia Faaborg:

age 22 at the time of the 44th hunger games, now age 53. continuously bought beetee multiple times during the 44th to 50th games, before she got married and stopped buying him.

during the 57th games, the female tribute for D3 was named Aurelia Taaffe, and beetee couldn’t have a conversation or even look at her without sending himself into a panic attack. thankfully, he didn’t have to mentor that year, but he was required to be in the capitol, so he locked himself out of three’s apartment until she died.
