I'm Axel and I'm just a guy who is selfshipping on the internet.

I love to gas other selfships up as well as blab/draw my own! My interests can fluxgate, which can change my f/o focus sometimes!

However, my Main F/Os will always be Clancy and Torchbearer from Twenty One Pilots Lore. They are my everything, especially Clancy. He's my soulmate and I see him as someone who is incredibly close to me. I'm not comfortable sharing either of them, but any of my other f/o's are fine to share!

Haha hehe hoohoo... it is time for me to announce what I've been working on all this time and what my plans for PhoenixClan are going forward hehehehe...

I am pleased to announce that PhoenixClan is being remade and reworked on its very own ComicFury page!!!

Long explanation and rambling thoughts under the cut for those curious as to the direction of PhoenixClan going forward:

To be honest I was only going to remake everything up to 4 part 1, but when I looked back on it all I really regret pretty much every part I've made pre-7. I think it all could have been handled much better by me, the art looked sloppy and was often rushed, and it was bugging me that it wasn't as good as it could have been.

At the end of last year, I was even debating on ending PhoenixClan altogether and moving onto a different comic project I have been extremely eager to write. I also debated making that project on the side as I continued to chug through PhoenixClan.

Ultimately, I came to a realization that the reason I was dragging my feet on making more PhoenixClan was because I felt like the early parts of PhoenixClan were half-heartedly made, and I was just going through the motions with every subsequent part so I could get to the better plot moments. I should have been truly dedicating my time and energy to it, and making sure I was happy with the pacing and writing.

This is not even mentioning how terrible the character writing was when I first started! I had no clue who any of these characters were yet and instead of doing practice comics and drafts to understand them better, I just wrote the comic without even thinking about who each of the characters were as people. Now that I have a better understanding of them all, I cringe at those early characterizations.

I truly do love the story I've been writing with PhoenixClan, and I want to share it all with you. But I thought that I was bound by unspoken rules that a comic can never be reworked or remade, and thus I was left with a story whose contents I truly adored but was hindered by my amateurish first attempt.

I will not be deleting any of the previous parts of PhoenixClan, and I will still include them in my website and blog directories. I will simply partition the new stuff from the old stuff, so you can still enjoy the early beginnings of PhoenixClan. I will still be uploading new PhoenixClan parts here as well, so don't worry if you don't want to make the jump over there!

However, from here on out I'm going to be creating all of it from scratch again. I want to be a better author, a better artist, and a better comic creator for PhoenixClan. It deserves that much.

And yeah now it's also all gonna be uploaded to ComicFury on top of that lol

I only have a default template look for the site rn but I'll see about doing some more unique stuff with it in the future :)

so you're new to ao3

and want to learn how to find and filter fics. then boy oh boy is this post for you

(this is going to be a Long post so I'm adding a read more break now)

but where to begin? i personally like to search by fandom or by ship. there are two ways to go about this:

search the fandom, then click on the first link for the fandom you find:

2. click on fandoms in the upper left corner and find your fandom in the giant list of fandoms

(Same concept applies for searching for a specific ship)

Great! now you're in the search results of all the works in that fandom! I'm now going to introduce you to your new favorite button: Filters

When you click on the filters button, the filters menu pops up. There are two main ways to filter works: including tags and excluding tags.

the Include Filter

before we begin: keep in mind that ao3 shows you the most popular tags under each filter. if what you're looking for isn't listed, you can use the search boxes under each filter category to find what you want

Ratings and Warnings

If you want to read a fic with a specific rating or a specific warning, this is where you select that. I personally prefer to use the exclude filter to filter out the ratings/warnings I don't want, but that's up to you. (Notice how you can only pick one rating: if you want to only read one rating, this is great for you. if you want to read anything except a certain rating, that's when exclude is your friend)

Categories and Fandoms

This is great if you want to read a specific slash or a crossover with a specific fandom. (I personally don't use these filters)

Characters and Relationships

this is the good stuff. here is where you can pick the relationship(s) you want to see. If you select more than one, you will only see results that include all of the selected options. The relationships filter is my favorite include filter--utilize it!!

Additional Tags and Other tags to include

want to read fluff? hurt/comfort? this is where you go. If the tag you're looking for isn't on the list under Additional Tags, you can search for the tag you want. ao3 will start to suggest tags, so you can select what you want from that list.

we have now reached my favorite part of the ao3 filtering system:

the Exclude Filter

ao3 operates on a don't like, don't read principle. the exclude filters exist for a reason: USE THEM!!!! i love the exclude filters and use them for every single search

Ratings, Warnings, Categories, and Fandoms

This seems pretty self-explanatory. Let's say you don't want to read fics that are not rated and fics that are tagged as major character death, but every other rating or warning is fair game. Boom, you've excluded them from the search results.

Characters and Relationships

Don't want to read a fic with a certain character or ship? You can get rid of all of them from the search results. For example, if you don't want to read any /Reader fics, you can filter those out here

Additional Tags and Other tags to exclude

Anything else you don't want to read about? maybe it's something that is a trigger for you, or something you just aren't into. Maybe there are specific relationships not listed under the relationship filter that you want to exclude. you can exclude those tags here. The exclude tag search feature is great for this.

More Options

there are some more ways to filter fics, including crossover status, completion status, word count, date updated, and language. Let's say you don't want any crossovers and you want to read a work in progress. you would select Exclude crossovers and Works in progress only here.

One last thing before you hit sort and filter!

You can sort the results by a variety of different features, like date updated, hits, and kudos. Be careful tho--sometimes some of the best fics you'll read will be the ones that don't have the same number of hits and kudos as the "popular fics" so don't judge a fic by it's numbers

That's it!! Now you're ready to sort and filter the results to your heart's content! This button is at the top and bottom of the filter tab for your convenience :)

Based on the filtering, your new search results will appear. Now you can read what you want and ignore the rest!

In summary:

Including: will show you only the results that have ALL of the included tags

Excluding: will show you results that have NONE of the excluded tags

Don't like, don't read! ao3 is an archive, not an algorithm--you have to search out the content you want yourself. hit the back tab if you don't like the fic you're reading

Remember to leave comments and kudos to make an author's day!!

hey everyone, it's @half-or-nothing ! wow, two years, huh? (well. over two years by the time this is posted.)

let's start with the rules. no NSFW (both the mod and muse might be 18, but I want thos blog to be appropriate. suggestive stuff is ok, but nothing too extreme), don't send ooc hate to anyone, and no homophobia or transphobia

now, this blog is a main blog so it can like and follow but there's also some sideblogs (also you might have noticed that some aren't listed here. that's because I deleted them)

@julie-winstrate-and-star-no-mi (Jax's sister and arc corps member), @vivian-winstrate (Jax's biological mom), @fabas-failed-science-projects (Jax and his adopted siblings that also being run with @/phantom-freak and @/cooperblr), @miss-cool-hat (Jax's Hatterene), @wyatt-and-elliott (a gym leader and adopted gym trainer son), @bird-of-all-trades (another arc corps member and one of Jax's boyfriends), @kuniku-island-league (the league for kuniku island! it's being run by multiple people, you can see how many and who in the pinned post), and @glacial-branch (two legendary/mythical researchers that are part legendaries)

now, a description. this blog is pretty high-stakes at times (and will be very high-stakes in the future), and there will be a lot of wacky shit. Jax is a Mew hybrid (specifically melanistic), so he can do some weird stuff like learn every tm. he also has a couple of Mew body parts, specifically an eye and a leg. he also used to be an aqua grunt! (he worked for them after they tried to flood the word so when they were just doing community service)

also I commissioned my irl friend a couple of times!

the first one is his current design and the second one was his past design (also my friend's commissions are open so you should check them out!!!)

also I made a discord server that's just for promoting discord servers!
