Fic cast photos - different fic

After the picture, a little spoilery talk.

It’s taken a few days of ideas rolling through my mind, changing, being too heavy and maybe finally coming to something I can go with. It’s still heavy cos there’s a subject that’s been on my mind for 30 years, I think due to some family history. My original fiction story using it, that I began in 1994, is still floating around, but has gone flat with age thanks to the burnout decade of almost no writing.

I’m not writing as much as I was a few weeks ago, though it’s still fairly consistent. Different things keep coming to mind, but this might just happen. For now, I have a cast photo and Griffin characters make up half of it.

Tyler Locke, Gabe, Jack Dunkleman, Sam Ecklund, Five Hargreeves, Rafe Khatchadorian and Leo, and Danny Gannon. Gabe and Five are a very fun pair to throw together.

I edited the post a few times to remove Leo and add Danny (even more Griffin characters, but it works), and to swap Five and Sam in the age order (mentioning in case anyone noticed and doubted their memory). And changed the picture of Rafe so for those who already liked this, here’s that picture too.

Minor spoilers -

In this one, the world is a bit grim, but only in a few ways. I like a good “kids banding together” story.

Tyler was so pleased I chucked him into this world (/sarcasm if not obvious). Immediately he brought such a good energy.

i hadnt seen/heard anything from sea for ages and then yesterday i saw her in the harry tag going on and on about rob stringer and thought wow, how is she /still/ on this 😅

She's been working to re-establish herself as a "solo Louie" bullied out of the Larrie fandom in 2017 for not liking Harry. Even though she was still a Harry-obsessed Larrie in 2019.

She has finally let go of many of her Larrie beliefs now - including that Louis was cruelly closeted by Sony and that he was faking fatherhood to Freddie. She even seems to have accepted that Eleanor was actually his girlfriend for nearly a decade, and not just his dogsitter and general dogsbody who fetched him coffee (she also seems to be trying to rebrand as a feminist - an ambitious move for a misogynist 🤔)

But even after all that, when most people would be reflecting on just how wrong they were about so many things for so many years and how gullible they were to believe it in the first place, and maybe taking a step back to wonder what else they might be wrong about...she powers on with her Harry theories!

What is Louis without Harry the backstabbing, blacklisting betrayer??!! NO FUN, THAT'S WHAT!

I wonder if she even knows the difference now between the things she invented to be angry about, and the things that are actually real.

The batkids adored their newest brother, Danny Fenton. But Danny did scare them a little sometimes.

He was a really cool dude once you got to know him, and he even joined Duke on daily patrol. (Steph did join them some times.)

But the reason of why they were scared of being on his bad side was because of a little... accident.

They were on a Alfred-induced (aka Alfred forced them) vacation to a beach, and they bumped into a acquaintance of Danny, Vlad. Hee immediately tried to persuade Danny to abandon the Waynes and join him and the teen looked ready to murder, and probably would if it wasn't for Bruce.

But it's what happened next day that spooked them.

Bruce trying to tie Damian's tie: Who's that puking on his flip flops?

Danny with his back turned looking out the window: Vlad Masters~... He's got nausea, shortness of breath, blood in urine, severe illness and... death.

Have you ever done an analysis of which fandoms are most dominated by a single ship?

I hadn't done so before. I just took a quick pass at doing so, but only among the biggest fandoms on AO3 as of Jan 2024 (ones with over 10K public works at that time). I sorted them by the size of their biggest ship relative to the size of the fandom. This gives us a bunch of very big fandoms with a high % of works tagged with a particular ship:

The raw data used to make this graph, including the corresponding biggest ships, is available in a spreadsheet here, or at the end of this post.

A few notes:

This is based on January 2024 data. Some things may have changed!

Not all these works are necessarily about these ships. Especially in the cases where the ships are canon, they may often be tagged as background ships.

There are undoubtedly many smaller AO3 fandoms that have higher percentages devoted to the top ship.

I removed some highly overlapping fandoms (e.g., Good Omens book fandom).

This is AO3 data only, and (as always!) AO3 does not represent fandom overall. In particular, ship popularity tends to vary A LOT by archive/platform.
