So far I have encountered two pieces of media that I will praise, recommend and hold in high regard for the rest of my life, while also never personally engaging with them again: The first is Grave of the fireflies (iykyk) the other is Playlist for when your boyfriend stops breathing.

I have been pondering about TotK.
I really wish there were little windows in the depths that show the massive inside of a lovely Great Fairy cottage-core esque abode.
I speculated that the deep fireflies were predators of fairies back when I first descended down a chasm and first was exposed to the glowing bugs. At first glance, I mistook them for fairies, which reminded me of a female Photuris firefly, which will lure in male Photinus fireflies by copying the mating blinking light patterns of a Photinus firefly female.
This lead me to imagine a "great" deep firefly that would hunt the great fairies.
So, saying all this, I visualized in my mind a scene where Link looks through the aforementioned windows that give you a peek into a Great fairy's giant house. The great fairy will be doing something like reading with one of those glamorous theater lenses or cooking some homely meal, and randomly she'll be interrupted by a gargantuan deep firefly.
She sets down what she is doing and pummels the pest with a sparkly swatter, effortlessly and viciously splattering the bug into the ground. Then she cleans herself off with swirling glittery magic and returns to her interrupted task.
Anyways. Slash out, guys.

Bioluminescent algae are a group of tiny marine organisms that can produce an ethereal glow in the dark.
The algae's bioluminescent glow is a natural defense mechanism; light flashes occur when the algae’s environment is disturbed. Single-cell algae called dinoflagellates are almost always behind this kind of surface luminescence.
What Is Bioluminescence?
Bioluminescence is light produced by a chemical reaction in a living organism. It's found in several marine animals, from bacteria and jellyfish to crustaceans and starfish.
The chemical reaction responsible for this light energy has to do with a luciferin molecule, which produces light from the organism’s body when it reacts with oxygen. While there are different types of luciferins depending on the animal, some species also produce a catalyst called luciferase that helps speed up the chemical reaction.
 Bioluminescence is typically blue but can also be [green more commonly, as this color and blue are more common] yellow, purple, or red. In the deep sea, bioluminescence is used as an advantage to help organisms find food, assist in reproduction, or, as is the case with bioluminescent algae, serve as a defense. Bioluminescence isn’t reserved for marine life by any means, either. Fireflies are probably the most well-recognized organisms that use bioluminescence, to warn off predators and attract mates.
The bioluminescent color produced by this chemical reaction is a result of the specific arrangement of luciferin molecules. Dinoflagellates produce their blue light using a luciferin-luciferase reaction, which is related to the chlorophyll chemical found in plants. The chemical reaction occurs between the luciferase enzyme catalyst and oxygen when the algae are jostled while suspended in water. Oxygen oxidizes the luciferin molecules, while luciferase accelerates the reaction and releases excess energy as light without generating heat. The light’s intensity, frequency, duration, and color vary depending on the species.
In the summer months, for example, Taiwan's Matsu Islands produce large amounts of bioluminescent algae known as “blue tears.” Studies have found that toxic algae blooms in the East China Sea are growing bigger every day. In 2019, scientists connected the blue tears phenomenon to poisoned sea life as the algae release ammonia and other chemicals as they feed. Destructive algae were found as far as 300 kilometers offshore, suggesting the blooms are spreading.
Not all algal blooms are harmful. In fact, many species (there are thousands) are beneficial to their ecosystems. They are only considered harmful if they produce toxins or suck up all the oxygen in water, smothering aquatic plants and animals as a result. Research indicates that the types of algal blooms that are harmful are increasingly common.7
Some places known for their glowing conditions can't attribute algae as the cause, such as the famed Toyama Bay in Japan; the water here gets its glow from phosphorescent creatures called firefly squids, which flock to the bay during the summer to breed.

Your wish is my command, my friend!
So, this is in reference to my a follow up post about my Belobog Roleswap AU. Initially, I wanted to swap only the Belobog cast cause those are the characters I'm the most familiar with. This post is not canon to the AU, this is a small "what if" and how it would happen realistically. This Roleswap follows the rules of the original, so no personality changes and no backstory changes (expect necessary ones for the sake of a cohesive narrative). The only one who is not getting roleswapped is the Trailblazer since the plot kind of relies on them being with the express.
So here are the roleswaps!
Himeko <--> Kafka
Welt <--> Silver Wolf
Dan Heng <--> Yingxing (Blade)
March 7th <--> Firefly
The way I see it, the only way for this Roleswap to happen realistically is for the Astral Express to be abandoned in Kafka's planet instead of Himeko's. So Kafka fixed it up and set sail, looking for something that will make her feel fear or, in general, intense emotions.
On her way, she meets Yingxing. She helps him with his mara and offers him a place in the express and he accepts. He goes through a lot of self reflection, going through the "I want to kill Dan Feng and all his reincarnations" to a more chill "I want closure so let me sail the Express and maybe I'll see him. And, maybe, I'll find a way to finally die". He's not sure how he's going to react to seeing Dan Feng, but he does know he wants to see him at some point.
As the two continue travelling, they see Firefly floating in space. They decide to save her and invite her to board the express. Having nothing else, she agrees. Now, she travels in hopes of finding a cure to her illness and to live her life as Firefly, not as SAM, another weapon of war.
They met Silverwolf when they visited Punklord. She decides to board the Express just to because, she doesn't have a clear goal in mind. She just wishes to explore the universe for videogames and entertainment reasons.
Since Himeko never got the chance to board the Express, she ended up meeting Elio first. Due to that, she becomes a Stellaron Hunter. I'm not sure what her ideal future is, so the most crackhead idea I can come up with is her wanting to become the "next Akivili" so that she can explore the universe without any issue. (I legit have no idea what her wish for her future could be. Navigator of the Express feels like the perfect role for her. Himeko fans, I'll leave this up to you).
The first recruit after Himeko is Welt. He joins with the hopes that Ellio can bring him back home. His ideal future is one where no one will ever struggle with finding their way back home.
Later, Dan Heng comes along. He joins the Stellaron Hunters because he lacked other options. The "perfect future" for him is one where Vidyadhara don't reincarnate but reproduce normally and the memory of Dan Feng is gone, so that he is seen as his own person.
They find March 7th floating around in her giant ice cube. They rescue her and offer a place in the Stellaron Hunters. She, like Dan Heng, accepts cause of the lack of other options. Her ideal future is one where not only she remembers everything, but where nobody would ever suffer from loss of memories.
The game starts the same way with the Trailblazer and the Stellaron being inserted into their body.

been trying to figure out what exactly it is about aventurine that feels perhaps relatable, or what it is that makes me want to study him like a bug...
and camr to the thought that he's pretty pessimistic for am optimist...but also ob the other side of the same coin, he's optimiaric for a pessimist. kinda both at the same time,.or depending on the day or how you look at him maybe.
he's an optimist becuase he knows he's going to win. he always wins. he has always won his gambles. he knows it will happen again and again. his luck, or gift, or blessing, or whatever you want to call it ensures that. but he's also a pessimist becuase he knows that "win" also always comes with some kind of suffering for him. he wins all his gambles, but at what cost? a lot, actually. so is it really a win? he knows he will win, but he also knows he will be used, abused, sacrificed, broken, or in pain. he expects those to be a consequence of his winning luck, to the point of making sure it happens and becomes self-destructive because of it. he acts calmly like it's ok and is the outcome he wants and calls that a win because it's what he plans and expects. he bets on it and it happens.
but at the same time, he's slowly breaking and seems to want it to end. he tests the limits of his luck to see if it's a real "gift" or if it is all a coincidence and has an end. he probably wants to meet the end to end the pain and suffering, but knows his "luck" won't allow it. he wants to be against the luck and see if he can win. a whole contradiction it itself. his luck kept him alive so many times and continues to do so. it will always do so, unless perhaps his end is the goal. what if he bets on losing this time? bets in meeting his end? he needs to get lucky enough to achieve that goal. flip his lucky fate by turning his luck around, make his end the final lucky win.
but it seems like he either lost for once and didn't meet his end....maybe his luck truly does intend on keeping him alive...or he changed his mind in the end and got lucky enough to get out of meeting his end once again...
he's still a bit of an enigma to me and i'm not sure exactly what happened. but he's for sure a complex and amusing character (even if I still want to put him into a snow globe and shake it as hard as I can) and this whole penacony story is too complex for my soggy trashcan brain lmao but i'm enjoying the ride

Going through all my wips and stumbled on a old Rayne fanfic and I have to say… It was such a nice reread. One of those times where you come back years later and are like “wait I wrote this? That’s not half bad!” And then you get angry because you didn’t finish and it was JUST getting good.
Forgot how much I whumped Jayne. Might have whumped him too much actually… But the comfort! Ugh! I love it. Such a shame that I’ll probably never finish it, but THE POTENTIAL! Bellísimo!
