Black Sabbath - "Too Late" From the album Dehumanizer (June 30, 1992)
Last song scrobbled from iTunes at Last.fm
A reunion of the Mob Rules lineup that didn't make quite the same impression. But a heavy album, and worth your time, I'm finding.

Friday, September 6: Black Sabbath, "Sins of the Father"
R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010)
Dehumanizer was one of the rare instances where a difficult recording process not only permeated the finished product but actually managed to enhance the final album.  And while nobody, least of all the artists themselves, would want the act of making a record to be a struggle, the uneasy vibes gave tunes like “Sins of the Father” more weight and made the reunion of Black Sabbath’s Mob Rules lineup even more malicious than expected.  Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice were an overwhelmingly forceful rhythm section, Ronnie James Dio was forceful, emotive and urgent, and Tony Iommi’s riffing was just straight up mean.  This was an ugly track that obscured some of its hooks by smothering them with globules of noise, and that wasn’t simply due to Mack’s hammering production: Dio had a way of arranging his vocals such that his cadence became its own melody line, and parts of Appice’s pummeling were catchy in their way, but “Sins of the Father” almost felt designed to create discomfort.  This was ultimately why Dehumanizer remains something of a dark horse in the Sabbath catalogue- what was supposed to be a triumphant return became something ugly and a bit uninviting, but deeper listens revealed that to be more of a feature than a bug, and the sturdiness of the writing was undeniable.

Triumph's Rock and Roll Machine and Black Sabbath's Dehumanizer - Slogan's Rock & Metal Extravaganza - with Logan, Sidney, Byron and Mike
Please welcome new channel Slogan’s Rock & Metal Extravaganza to the scene!  I met Logan and Sidney through the Contrarians.  These two young knowledgeable guys have a passion for rock, and I dig their youthful perspective.  Logan, for example, was ten years old when Black Sabbath’s 13 (2013) came out.  When they asked me if I’d like to appear on their show to talk about Black Sabbath’s…

Robot characters who are given names like SL-308-62 but instead of their human friend going Well let's call you Sally for short, they instead ask the other if they Like their current name.
"Do you like your serial number?" they ask. "Yes, quite. It reminds me of who I am" the robot replies. "I have heard others like me go by different names after some time, and maybe one day I'll choose one for myself, too. But right now that is my full name, yes" they continue.
Because it's not your decision to make whether or not the robot will receive a new name. It should be theirs only. What's the difference? One is more complex and the other is simplified. They were both given by strangers instead of themselves.
"62 will do," they conclude. "It's my model number - there will be no other 62 after me."

I think that “Anakin was a slave child who was groomed by Palpatine and raised by someone who wasn’t ready to take on a child, thereby leaving him in a social limbo state where he’s surrounded by people but only has a few close confidants, with the one he trusts the most actively trying to take advantage of him”
and
“Anakin was taught right from wrong from a young age, first by his mother and then by Kenobi, but any time he was presented with a choice, actively CHOSE WRONG EVERY SINGLE TIME”
are two sentences that can, should, and MUST coexist to fully understand Anakin Skywalker as a character
Edit: PART 2 of this post here

Hot take and not to be a killjoy or the shipping police but people treating Viktor or Jinx's aroace headcanons as if they were canon is not the revolutionary take people think it is.
Headcanons are always all right but we have to acknowledge that they are somehow damaging when they apply to stereotypes. It might not be the case for everyone but most of the time people unconsciously assume that disability/mental illness=asexuality. These headcanons erase the freedom of attraction from people who are already seen as unable to have sexual/romantic experiences/desires, when it's completely untrue and harmful.
You can headcanon Viktor and Jinx as aroace, but I have seen people changing their minds once Viktor is no longer disabled (s2 with all of his other forms) and Jinx is no longer as mentally ill (alternate universe Powder). And it speaks wonders of how people see these characters.
"I never thought about Jinx being able to feel romantic/sexual attraction until s2!" To believe she's actually only capable of that when she's not "damaged" is incredibly disturbing. Especially since Jinx has always had a bit of a flirty personality too.
"I've always seen Viktor as asexual, I don't know why!" That's fine. You can headcanon him as ace. But I believe there is a reason behind it, most of the time, if for some inexplicable reason the "vibes" of the disabled character are making you think he's ace.
I say all of this being aroaspec myself, by the way. Headcanon all you want but going to people's posts commenting how "it's weird for you that they have romantic/sexual plots when they're clearly aroace" is not a win at all. It's a headcanon, after all, and it should be treated as such, and that's fine. But it also is damaging to spread stereotypes like these.
Of course the disabled character is asexual. Of course the mentally ill character is aromantic. It's not as revolutionary as you might think, tbh.
Fandom is not activism and it's all right to have any headcanons you want BUT some of them are filled with damaging stuff and perhaps we should look into ourselves more before treating these assumptions as something canon.
