What if... Mirage, you're a dead woman!

What if for this situation because I've always felt this was poorly handled and I know it was the 90s, but I like writing lol. Also in my timeline, Kory and Dick are dating, he went through the incident with Tarantula already and Mirage is about to be dejected from this team real fast. Hope you enjoy.

Donna, Kory, and Cyborg sat in front of Dick, who looked visibly nervous and guilty as he explained having sex with Mirage under the mistaken assumption that she was Kory. Kory’s expression shifted from anger at feeling betrayed to a slow realization that this wasn’t what it seemed. Donna’s face was contorted with seething rage, while Cyborg shook his head, disgusted by Mirage and Pantha.

Cyborg: I can't believe she's mocking you like that.

Donna: And Pantha... I’m going to... I’m so furious about this whole situation! I never trusted Mirage and couldn't pinpoint why, until now!

Dick rubbed his arm nervously, his eyes cast downward as he struggled to find the words.

Dick: It’s my fault... it’s all my fault. I’m so stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Cyborg: Bro, take a breath. We’re not mad at you, and we don’t blame you. You were tricked, in a gross, almost illegal prank no less. Seriously what the hell is wrong with some people?!

Dick turned toward Kory, his voice trembling as he rubbed his arm again.

Dick: Star, I’m so sorry. I really am. I didn’t know she wasn’t you. I thought she was you, then we… we did… and it felt wrong during it. She cursed me out while it was happening. I’m so sorry. Can you ever forgive me?

Donna and Cyborg looked at Kory with sympathetic eyes, understanding that Dick wasn’t at fault for Mirage’s deception. Kory tilted her head, studying her boyfriend’s expression carefully. His body language wasn’t defensive or deceitful; it radiated shock, slight terror, and guilt.

He wasn’t guilty of anything and Kory knew that. After a few seconds, Kory closed her eyes and smiled sweetly.

Kory: I was mad, but that has faded. From how you're reacting, it seems you’re more upset and worried you betrayed me when with the full context, you did nothing wrong. It's not your fault.

Dick (surprised): What?

Kory (standing to her feet): You thought you had sex with me, that's not what this was. The fact that this Mirage woman is mocking you as if she had a perfect gotcha moment is what angers me now.

Cyborg: Exactly. You’re not a slut or a fool. What she did was wrong, completely unacceptable.

Dick (looking at the ground, voice trembling): But… but… it can’t happen again. Not again.

Kory (sympathetic smile, placing a hand on her boyfriend's shoulder): It’s okay, you're safe. Especially since what Mirage did wasn’t just wrong, it was illegal. It was a crime, and I’m going to handle it.

Calmly, Kory left the room, with Dick and the other titans trailing behind her.

Dick (unsure what's about to happen): Star, Star- Kory, what are you doing?

Kory (removing her earrings with a calm determination): I'm going to have a conversation with Mirage about what sexual assault really is, how impersonating someone else to sleep with their partner is a gross misuse of her powers and trust to others, that consent goes both ways and how what she did is a punishable crime.

She tucked her earrings into her pocket and pulled her hair into a ponytail. Dick's eyes softened seeing Kory taking this seriously and not attacking him.

Cyborg: Star, if she tries to go for your face, remember the bob-and-weave technique.

Kory: Thanks for the heads-up.

Donna (removing her rings): Do you need backup?

Kory: No. I can handle this on my own.

Garfield (Beast Boy) and Wally West walked down the hall as the group made their way to the holding room where Mirage was.

Garfield: Where are you guys headed?

Donna: Star plans to beat the hell out of Mirage. She had sex with Nightwing, he didn’t know it was her. Then Mirage mocked him like it was some kind of hilarious prank.

Garfield: Man, that’s a crime, and really mean.

Cyborg: I wasn’t aware that it fell in the crime bracket.

Garfield: He thought it was Starfire. He went in assuming she was Starfire. Yeah, that’s sexual assault. I learned about it from a top-ten list.

Wally: WatchMojo?

Garfield nodded.

Wally: Same place. Jesus. Dick, are you okay?

Dick (laughing nervously, shaking his head): No.

Wally: So that’s what she’s been bragging about all day? That asshole!

Garfield: I knew I didn’t like Mirage for a reason. Give 'em hell, Starfire. I’m going to tell Raven and the others.

Kory: Make sure Pantha is dealt with as well.

Donna (rolling up her sleeves, walking off): On it.

Dick: You guys don’t have to do this.

Garfield: Why not? Dude, you’re a victim in this.

Cyborg: He feels like he cheated on Starfire.

Garfield: Dude, you didn’t. And we’ll keep telling you that. I’m going to get the rest of the team and call Dinah.

Garfield ran off toward the meeting room.

Dick (feeling a flicker of panic): I really don’t want you to fight—

Kory: I want to fight for you, because she took advantage of you. Am I mad that she had sex with you? Yes. But that’s not your fault.

Dick: Aren’t you upset that I technically cheated on you?

Kory: It wasn’t cheating. Cheating involves a sexual or emotional relationship with someone else while in a committed relationship. This isn’t that. Mirage is the only one at fault here.

Wally: Exactly.

Kory: I understand you don’t want me to go after Tarantula, but here I will only make Mirage wish I killed her.

Wally: And I’m going to talk to Pantha about calling you a slut before Donna breaks her arms.

Kory: Sounds like a perfect plan. Dickie bear, knowing your history, I will continue to protect you. We could be friends, and I’d still do it. But if you don’t want me to confront Mirage, we can leave. You deserve to decide, you deserve comfort in this.

Dick’s eyes widened in surprise that she was taking this seriously, as she should. He hesitated until Kory gently placed a hand on his cheek with a warm smile.

Kory: Trust me, if you cheated on me, I’d tell you. I’ve gone through the life of a sex slave. I don’t want you to be in that situation.

Dick closed his eyes, releasing a relieved sigh. When he opened them, he took Kory’s hand.

Dick: Kory, don’t, like, murder her, okay? I can’t afford to bail you out of jail, and… murder's wrong.

Kory: What’s that thing you and Batman say? Letting them live after you’ve savagely beaten them is punishment enough. That I shall do. If you’ll excuse me...

Kory turned toward the doorway where Mirage was being held and forcefully kicked the door open. She stepped inside with a determined smile. Mirage, spotting her, immediately assumed a fighting stance.

Kory (closing the door behind her): We’re going to have a little thirty-minute girl talk. Chat amongst yourselves. Mirage, let's talk.

With the door sealed, the room was soon filled with the sounds of screams (Mirage’s), thrashing, and alien curses. Most of the Titans headed toward the area, listening in on the chaos.

Cyborg stayed close to Dick, patting him on the shoulder.

Cyborg (joking): I gotta get me a girl who’ll beat up my enemies, am I right?

Dick chuckled, covering his eyes and taking a few steps back from the door, hiding a smile.

Hello! The twist ending of PYIH kind of shocked me. 'Twas really foolish of me for thinking that for the entirety of Kiryu's saga, Majima has just that twisted obsession with Kiryu, being a "Mad Dog" and all. I came across your PYIH analysis the other day and it really brought home what they were conveying with the ending.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the premise of PYIH. Is the sole purpose of Majima's "filming/documentary(?)" is to rehearse telling it to Kiryu? Because if it had been, that would be even crazier.

Oh, and at this point, is it even reasonable right now to interpret their relationship as platonic or brotherly? What do you think?

YEAHHHHH imo I think yakuza kenzan yakuza 3 (rooftop scene) is where we first truly starting seeing a glimpse of a deeper dynamic between Majima and Kiryu that goes beyond the "weird twisted obsession" reading, and we see more examples of it later as the series goes on (gestures at yakuza 5 and IW) but moments like those were decently subtle/blink-and-you'll-miss-it (not to mention they lessen in frequency also probably in part to Majima's lessening screentime throughout the series), but pyih's ending really goes out of its way to ensure that you actually Know how deep and genuine Majima's feelings are, which I am both extremely appreciative of and Kinda Crazy about

I think the whole documentary thing is interesting. Given the fact that they went out of their way to get the equipment/crew/etc. for the "film version", I would say that the Majima's retelling of his story at the studio and at Kiryu's bedside serve different purposes, and that him telling the story on set was not specifically for Kiryu (what Majima plans to do with the "film version" I'm not completely sure, but I guess for now we can assume it's just a project Majima wanted to do while getting Majima Construction back off the ground?) I'd say the premise of pyih is both to retell Majima's story as he presents it to the "general audience" And Kiryu, hence why the game starts with one and ends with the other. It's the same story to everyone, for the mostpart, and the main difference between the two 'versions' is How he presents it (to the cameras/the players/main audience he puts on the fuckass pirate costume and the theatrics, to Kiryu he tells it to him straight, without the extra show stuff for the cameras. We can Assume the story he tells to each audience is practically identical, considering that the cutscene of him telling it to us in the beginning of the game and him telling it to KIryu at the end of the game use identical lines (cough cough in the Japanese audio), but his tone of voice between the two are notably very different)

Uhhhh shoot I don't know if any of that made sense 💀 Point is I think Majima telling the story of pyih is, in fact, meant for Everyone, it's just that Kiryu gets a sort of special, more authentically told version of it if you will (After all, Majima could've just shown Kiryu the film when it was finally done, but instead he went out of his way to tell it to him personally)

As for the question of "is kazumaji canon now", WOO boy. First of all I actually lowkey want to thank you for asking that question, I've been wanting to post about it for a while now but kept putting it off lol. I mulled over this exact question quite a bit during the week-or-so long time period that I was writing most of my analysis after finishing the game, and, despite the fact that I myself am very vocal about liking kazumaji in a romantic scenario/context, I would not personally call it canon, and I say it is still absolutely reasonable to interpret them as platonic.

While many of the aspects we see in their relationship (especially on Majima's end) such as obsession, devotion, etc. etc. are often associated with romantic interest (Especially in fandom spaces), I don't think they have to be considered specifically romantic. People who have read through my posts may remember a while back that I did an analysis of The Sun at 36.5 wondering if the song was written with the intent to represent Majima's feelings towards Kiryu (for the record this was incorrect and the meaning behind it goes past the scope of the game) and I was going pretty insane about it lol. That's because, had the song been written with that in mind, it would've meant with almost 100% certainly that they would be, in fact, canon, and that would've been Insane. However, this is not the case, and other than that theory I had there's nothing else in the games that would specifically state that either one has Explicitly Romantic feelings towards the other. Do they have a very deep and complex relationship, the likes of which they don't share with many other characters? Definitely. Is it explicitly romantic? I wouldn't say so

The main example I would like to bring up to argue against it would be minedai (*cough* my second favorite yakuza ship I fucking Love Mine Yoshitaka so much he's one of my favorites). I'll link this amazing post with all the examples but essentially, while minedai and kazumaji share many of the same themes in their relationship/dynamic (again, obsession, devotion, you get the drill (can you tell Majima and Mine are two of my favorite characters yet LOL)) the main difference between them is that, with minedai, it is basically outright said Multiple Times in Multiple Sources outside of even Yakuza 3 itself that Mine loved Daigo, with words used Specifically to convey strong romantic connotations, a choice rgg went out of their way to make every single time they wrote about them together. Kazumaji, on the other hand, does not use these kinds of words to describe each other, whether it be in words coming from Kiryu and Majima themselves, or official relationship charts, descriptions, etc.

Can feelings including romance be heavily implied without needing to be explicitly stated? Absolutely, but with the way rgg tends to Very Obviously and Explicitly state when characters Are romantically interested in each other, and also simply because there is still (imo) plenty of room to read kazumaji as Not romantic, I wouldn't say it's canon. And for the record, I wanna reiterate that this is coming from someone who is personally very enthusiastic about kazumaji as a ship, so I'm trying to be purely objective here, and that is my verdict (Also this is just a random aside, but I really don't agree with the people who are (unironically) labelling Kiryu and Majima's relationship as "queerbaiting". but that's a whole other discussion entirely)

Searching for larries/directioners from LATAM/ Buscando a larries/directioners de LATAM (please boost).

I want to do a list with blogs of latam larries/directioners so people can follow them. So if you are from latam (doesn't matter that you are not currently living in latam but at least that you were born in latam or you have an association with latam for your family and grow up with the culture from any country of latam), reblog this post and put in the tags: 1. That you are from latam 2. If you are comfortable also de country (if you are not skip this one) 3. I hope this list motivate to follow people from latam (especially the ones who live outside of latam). I wanted to do this for a while, I think in the fandom is important to follow different people around the world to understand others cultures, I also think that when the 1d boys visit that specific country sometimes there are things that are better explain from the people that actually live there or had live there.
