don't be fooled. disney wants your money, not to honor their best stories. don't watch the live action lilo and stitch. don't pay to be fed garbage. you are smarter than that. leave the gum on the ground and keep walking. force them to get good.

hate to burst our ship bubble here but I think Moffat’s tone is being misread. he has only ever regarded Rose and Rose/Doctor with contempt and exasperation, even in-script. pretty sure he wrote this to mean “oh no, not her again, will the Doctor never be rid of the clingy girlfriend?”
Tumblr media
BOTH TEN AND ELEVEN…..Oh how dare they not show of them doing this in the 50th

You hated it?? I actually thought it looked very decent! People who I know from the community also liked it
Doverstar Yes! Not to hurt anyone's feelings or anything. We hated the live-action trailer for Lilo and Stitch (2025). We hated it. We've been texting each other all day about how bad it is. We don't like hating things, but this contempt came naturally. Why watch the Great Value version when you could have the good stuff? I wouldn't pay a cent to be fed garbage. You'd be watching a worse version of what was at one point a very good story. I say be smarter than that. Don't tell Disney they can sucker you like this. Push them to get good by leaving the gum on the ground. They don't want to honor a wonderful story, they want your money and that's it.

there's such a massive history with doctor who and it hit me lately that the sensation of seeing that the companions and doctors you watched in real-time have become the past is a sensation every fan has felt for 60 years. at some point people missed jon pertwee and could remember watching him recently, even though tom baker was on tv as the doctor now and they liked him too. and nowadays we miss rose tyler and martha jones and amy pond and clara oswald and donna noble and tennant and smith and capaldi like those people missed baker when davison took the stage. like people missed ace and wondered if the show would ever come back, and then got excited and still felt it wasn't quite the same when eccleston was announced. like. it feels so recent, like just yesterday rose saw the tardis for the first time, but that was twenty years ago. feels like the doctor just made the speech in 'the rings of akhaten' and that was a decade ago. clara is gone, amy is gone. peter capaldi went from gray to white. and the show is going on and children will think of ncuti gatwa and millie gibson and huge white tardis corridors when they think of doctor who in the future. to them, david tennant is already what tom baker is to us. this story has a huge legacy. when you're watching doctor who, it ironically begins to feel like you're making history just by watching it.

5 Fictional Characters That Make Up Your Personality
Tagged by the lovely @rainbow-truffles. This was a hard meme to do for me, it's taken me a while to figure out who to answer with.
Tagging a few people with no obligation: @bold-sartorial-statement, @shyesplease, @doverstar, @sophiainspace, @kleptoandpyro, @unwittingcatalyst, @starstruckpurpledragon, @hfeproductions, @detroitsredwings and @dance-is-life27.
Also, basically if you see this and want to do it consider yourself tagged by me.
1. Caitlin Snow
Tumblr media
Partly because I am a worrier like her, more than a bit of a nerd (and not always in the popculture way like other Flash characters) but also because I'm someone who can be accused of coming off as cold and brusque at first like she does.
I care but it's buried beneath a reserved, shy kind of shell in a similar way. My enthusiasm, my laugh out loud moments, are hard to draw out but people who really know me well get to see them and I feel like that's a journey shown in her friendships on The Flash, so she resonates with me.
2. Daria
Tumblr media
Mostly because there is definitely a hidden cynic in me. I try to be kind in what I say (try is the operative word because I am too blunt for some still) but there's often enough the snark inside too, which occasionally I let out. Also for her pragmatic and realist attitudes.
3. Luna Lovegood
Tumblr media
Like her, I am a dreamer and I want to believe in things I can't see. The scientific side of me wants more proof of course but I like considering the possibilities at least, looking from another angle, the what if. I'm not lost in conspiracy theories, for me it's in stories.
She’s also unapologetically herself despite what others think and that’s something I’ve always had to some degree but have also grown into to a much larger degree. Older I get, the less I care what others think of how I live my life to be happy and have it be my own.
4. Stiles Stilinski
Tumblr media
I say Stiles because I've got that edge of fascination with darkness, the morbid curiosity like he does, and at times I'm also the person blurting out ALL the ideas and thoughts that come into my head. Not as fast a talker as him, but despite most people who'd meet me thinking I am quiet, the people I get comfortable with sometimes find it hard to shut me up when I get going on brainstorming and pondering stuff with them. Also, I am similarly quite the clutz (oh my constant source of bruises from walking into things!) who should probably never be given any serious weaponry.
5. Abed Nadir
Tumblr media
For his geekiness, his curiosity, his immersion in popculture but also his desire to understand the metaness of everything. His tendency to be an observer of people, to see stuff through the lense of film/a story. He's also pretty confident and while I can't claim to be as confident as he is - because I have plenty of self-doubt weighing me down in certain areas of my life - there's certainly a part of me that's very 'you do you' and knowing of oneself like he is straight forwardly. Especially when it comes to stories/film topics.

Tumblr media
Sorr y, you can't see it clearly or why I can't get it to be vertically straight. But yes this is my drawing of stitch (626), but the problem isn't that I can't draw stitch I don't know how to draw him, point is I've never been a good drawer so I thought maybe you could do a how to draw stitch. And maybe even the ohana too please
Tumblr media
Doverstar Well, if it helps, we always used this book as kids to learn to draw Stitch! Arti is much better at him than I am; she's done extensive research on how to most accurately sketch him out. I'm still learning!
Tumblr media
You just have to remember a few key things - Stitch's body is shaped like a flour sack; his eyes are always on level with his nose; his ears are the same length as his head; everything, everything is round! I would do an in-depth how-to-draw, but Arti would be a more beneficial teacher, and besides, I don't have time. As for how to draw the whole family - yikes, maybe someday when I have infinite amounts of time! Sounds fun.

More art for @doverstar 's Chasing the Light!
Tumblr media
It's time for a villain spotlight!
I took inspiration from the 2004 Batman show for Rag doll's appearance, but also mixed the costumes of both Peter Merkel (OG) and Jr (His son) and mixed them together. Though I do recall in your written description in chapter 37, he was barefoot and had a once green shirt. I just didn't make the shirt oversized. I just really like The Batman (2004) I don't think it gets enough love. Also he looks creepier this way.
I don't know if he looks better with or without eyes, so I'll just leave it up to interpretation or just go back and re read Chasing the Light.
As for Nimbus I just drew him in the black outfit he wore in the show and made him look more threatening by making him look as if he's always in a partially gaseous state. I gave his eyes and skin a cool sickly green glow, along with black bubbles within the gas to show the toxicity of the gas.
Tumblr media
Now it's time for the Crime family duo!
I wanted Snart to look the same, but with a somewhat comic accurate coat with the gold belt and the cool goggles 🥽
Lisa on the other hand looks very different from her Tv show counterpart. I gave her back her comic book blonde hair and gave her a gold jacket, necklace, belt and her gun. I also kept the white shirt since her comic costume currently is gold and white. I feel like she wore more black than gold in the cw show, which is odd for someone called the Golden Glider.
Then again maybe she did, I mean it's been awhile since I've watched the Flash sooo.... yep.
I think I was just having fun making everyone look similar to the comics, but also still giving love to the Flash show. Although, they really need to chill out with the leather and muted colors on costumes. They're getting better, but my point still stands.
Tumblr media
Ignore my cyclops OC and focus on Earth-66 Wally West. He has a tool in his hand and is ready to make a difference in the world! He even has his mustard jacket and some red shoes! Even when he's not kid flash he's representing!
Had to find a reference pose for this one. I'll put a link for credit later when I find the reference again.
Tumblr media
And finally Savisnow❄️⚡
I took inspiration from the simplicity of the Bruce Timm style for his body's running pose and added some cool blue lightning designs to it.
Savitar telling Cait that she's stronger than him, because he knew frost couldn't beat her, UGH. MY HEART! The Savitar stealing Caitlin's chances of getting diabetes, because their HIS fries, but Caitlin knows he doesn't need fries to go to sleep. Smh.
Also, I give you the best for last.
Savitar running into that lamppost. Because we all needed to see that. Lol guess he's not as cool as he thought he was.
Sorry scarebear 🙃 Caitlin loves ya tho!
@doverstar if you see this, I love all your stories from Doctor Who, Mary Poppins, Jelsa to the Flash and Stranger things!
I am currently in love with your HellCheer fic! I wish Chrissy and Eddie got more time together 😭

@doverstar
Just wanna say that I feel sorry you had to took down your post. It's insane how some people responded to it, being so triggered for no reason. Who follows you knows that you never tried to offend anyone and it's just toxic that you can't share your own opinions. I hope you don't feel discouraged to share your thoughts with us bc of this, unfortunately in social media people take things a little too personal.

“Curioser and curioser!“
This post is a response to @doverstar asking me the following:
“I didn't say they weren't, @adora721 :) If you could direct me to the spot in my answer where I said anything negative about Iris West, I'll apologize, I promise. I think she's great and her relationship with Barry is fine.”
@doverstar: No need to apologize. I did not say you said anything negative about Iris West. I said, “I just don't understand how you don't see exactly the same with Barry and Iris.” Basically, almost everything you said about Barry and Caitlin (except that Barry is in love with Iris) could be said about Iris and Barry (except the physician aspect). See my examples below in response to your post:
“He always has her back, she always has his (this was me watching S1, remember) and they can relate to one another through loss right from the get-go. Barry lost his mom and Caitlin lost sweet Ronnie.”
Iris has done even more for Barry since they were children; Iris also related to Barry because she, too, lost her mom. Iris had Barry’s back when psychiatrists and even Joe didn’t believe what Barry saw when Nora was murdered. You know how hard it is for a child to defend against adults with PhDs and a cop father to take the word of another child instead? Iris believed Barry’s word above all others, and I can tell you that in itself helped save Barry’s soul when Eobard Thawne wanted to utterly crush him. That’s a special friendship that we saw in S1.
“Barry is the Flash. He has super speed and he wants to help everyone and his smile is infectious and he loves saving the day. Imagine having that for a best friend! I saw scenes like the one in The Sound And The Fury, after Hartley hits Caitlin in the Cortex and Barry speeds in and helps her up, and I thought, okay, she’s safe now. Because there’s CareBare, the Flash, her friend, and if she’s ever in trouble she has the fastest man alive on speed dial. How cool is that? I thought that alone was sweet and very enviable.“
Iris doesn’t have to imagine being the best friend of the Flash because Barry, the Flash, is her best friend. Even though she didn’t know Barry and the Flash were the same in S1, she called the Flash her “guardian angel.” The Flash saved Iris just like he saved Caitlin. The only difference is that Caitlin knew the secret first. And remember that even though Iris wasn’t into science, she totally supported Barry’s love of science (bought him the state of the art microscope, went with him to the particle accelerator event; there were probably other science events she went to over the years to support her best friend).
“She makes him feel safe–not just physically, but when he’s having some kind of emotional breakdown, Caitlin talks him through it. (Okay, I know basically everybody in the show has emotional breakdowns and everybody talks through it, everybody talks Barry through it, but I’m not wrong here.) She understands how he feels about losing his mother, about not being him (hey-hey, Killer Frost) when he loses his speed, about being afraid, all his insecurities about Iris, she gets it all and she’s there to listen.”
Once again, there were many scenes in S1 where we see Barry and Iris helping each other emotionally, some in flashbacks and some in the present. For example, when Iris is worried about Eddie cheating, Barry is there for her just like she’s there for Barry. When Grodd was controlling Barry with fear, Iris talked him through it when no one else could.
“And who does Barry have, to make him feel secure, to save the day? ... I mean feeling guarded and protected, and basket-case bioengineer Caitlin Snow pretty much sums that up for him in the show, in all the little ways”
I must remind you of what Barry told Iris, not Caitlin, in Grodd Lives. “You know why I wasn’t afraid? Because you were there. Even though I really was scared, having you there is how I could stand up to Grodd. Every time I falter or make a mistake, the thought of you is what picks me up and keeps me going. Even though you didn’t know about everything in my life this past year, it doesn’t mean you weren’t a part of it. You were. Every single day. Without you, there wouldn’t be the Flash.” And it isn’t Caitlin that makes Barry feel secure; that would be Joe, Iris, and his dad, Henry. Re-watch season 1 to see that this is true. When Caitlin doubts Barry, Iris and Henry don’t ever doubt him.
“(She has lots of flaws, even gets annoying if you look at it like that, but I adore a realistic, flawed female character. Girls can be annoying [said the girl] and Caitlin’s great.)”
Lots of SB fans don’t allow Iris to have flaws and they hate her for having them. Some even use her flaws as reasons why she doesn’t deserve Barry’s love. Well, Caitlin has flaws, too, and yet they don’t think she’s undeserving of Barry’s love. I’m glad that you’re not one that thinks like that.
“And when I looked at it from that angle, it was hard for me not to ship it. I’m the sort of person who sees all that and ships it.“
Everything you see in Caitlin and Barry was already there with Barry and Iris (minus the physician aspect and Barry being in love with Iris). So, using your own words it should be, “hard for me not to ship it.” It seems like some people just couldn’t imagine themselves as Iris, and so chose Caitlin’s journey of getting to know Barry to represent themselves. They then ignored all evidence of Iris already living the experience you’re describing for Caitlin. Was Iris’ experience just invisible?
It’s no wonder that some SB fans believe, erroneously, that Iris was stealing Caitlin’s lines and parts in Barry’s life because they literally ignored or blanked out all of the evidence I’m mentioning. It’s like selective memory or selective TV watching. I feel like there’s a whole season of Iris and Barry’s interactions that some people completely missed or ignored simply because they already preferred Caitlin.
You can ship whomever you want. However, your evidence for shipping Caitlin and Barry is very similar to evidence for shipping Iris and Barry. Like Alice said, “curioser and curioser!”

can't express accurately how happy it makes me that c.s. lewis did not leave room for many interpretations in narnia. it's christian and you can't get around it. susan chose to care more about worldly things than what matters and he said what he said. the lion is Jesus. evil is evil and good is good and people have to choose. and that makes some readers angry because it's nearly impossible to ignore and they want to ignore it. they want it to be something else and they can't make it something else without making it not narnia. love that. that is doing it right
#that's. how. it. should. be#if there's room for interpretation in your writing as a christian you are doing it wrong#if people read your work and get to pick and choose what it means and you left it OPEN to interpretation-#-and they can divorce your fantasy world from the truth? you are doing it wrong#looking at you john ronald reuel#readers you're upset because susan cares more about “nylons and lipstick” than Aslan? 1. that's not really what lewis said#2. you should be upset because she made the wrong decision#and if you're upset because you can't get around the christianity in narnia let me share something with you - that's the point#it's a christian series#it's telling you christian things. this is not lord of the rings. this is not Cool Fantasy World open to interpretation#you can't worship the fantasy world and ignore the christian truths#you can't separate the two. that's what it should be#that's what all christian writing should be#if you write something amazing and centuries later people host parades for your fictional world and there's no God in it? no truth?#wrong. you did it wrong. they should not be able to separate the two - unless the point of your writing was to write a cool story#congratulations you wrote a cool story. but did it point people to the truth? unavoidably? no? then what a waste of freaking time#what a waste of a beautiful God-given talent#okay I got off on a tangent#my point is: be upset because Narnia is Christian and you can't get around that with ease#I am so. glad. you can't get around that with ease#this is why Lewis is my favorite author in the root of me#he did it right. this is what we as christian authors should aspire to#not LOTR. Narnia. NARNIA.#christianity#narnia#the chronicles of narnia#thoughts in the tags#doverstar's thoughts#writing#authors

I've got a response to this jumped-up defense of Edmund, whose redemption would mean nothing if we looked at it the way you do here. Don't romanticize/victimize/defend in any way Edmund and the turkish delight, please. He's an amazing character and I love him, but I wouldn't ever try to make it okay that he tried to sell his siblings to a strange woman. Edmund was a selfish, unkind kid from the beginning without any enchanted treats to help him get that way. His siblings experienced wartimes without a father too, but you and I both know it would be ridiculous to imply that Peter, Susan, or Lucy would ever even consider doing what Edmund did. So that's no excuse. And as far as the 'maternal care' nonsense goes, Edmund wasn't fooled at all by Jadis' kind words when they met. To quote the book, word-for-word: ""My poor child," she said in quite a different voice, "how cold you look! Come and sit with me here on the sledge and I will put my mantle around you and we will talk."
Edmund did not like this arrangement at all but he dared not disobey; he stepped on to the sledge and sat at her feet, and she put a fold of her fur mantle around him and tucked it well in." He doesn't start feeling 'cared for', he starts feeling the affect of the magic, which is to say that he only thinks of stuffing his face and forgets to be freaked out by Jadis. The magic only gave Edmund incentive to do what his own personality was already geared up to do, bent toward. He's selfish, and if he has to choose between what he wants and thinking of others first, he will choose himself [at that point in the story.] It wasn't the turkish delight that made him say there wasn't anything special about his siblings, and it wasn't the turkish delight that made him lie about Narnia because he thought it was fun to make Lucy feel horrible and look like a liar to Peter and Susan. Some people make mistakes because of their maturity, but others make conscious decisions because they're only thinking of themselves. Being a kid does not excuse you for being selfish. At a certain age, with the kind of parenting Edmund must have had (examples of good parenting: Peter, Susan, and Lucy, who do not naturally behave the way Edmund does) you can tell the difference between selfishness and selflessness. Whether or not the White Witch had enchanted Edmund at the time, he still would have tried to bring his siblings to the castle without the turkish delight as payment.
To quote the book: "You mustn't think that even now Edmund was quite so bad that he actually wanted his brother and sisters to be turned into stone. He did want Turkish Delight and to be a Prince (and later a King) and to pay Peter out for calling him a beast. As for what the Witch would do with the others, he didn't want her to be particularly nice to them—certainly not to put them on the same level as himself—but he managed to believe, or to pretend he believed, that she wouldn't do anything very bad to them, "Because," he said to himself, "all these people who say nasty things about her are her enemies and probably half of it isn't true. She was jolly nice to me, anyway, much nicer than they are. I expect she is the rightful Queen really. Anyway, she'll be better than that awful Aslan!" At least, that was the excuse he made in his own mind for what he was doing. It wasn't a very good excuse, however, for deep down inside him he really knew that the White Witch was bad and cruel."
Aaaand he was going to her house to tell her where his siblings were anyway. The enchantment had absolutely nothing to do with that decision. You can want the enchanted turkish delight more and more as time goes on, but you can also still say no to that kind of thing when you've seen that it's objectively a wrong thing to do. Which Edmund had, at that point. He even says, several books later in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, that Eustace isn't as bad as he was before Aslan redeemed him. "Between ourselves, you haven't been as bad as I was on my first trip to Narnia. You were only an ass, but I was a traitor."
Not one character excuses Edmund for his behavior, least of all the author, and certainly not Edmund himself. That should tell you something. Just because you like a character doesn't mean you should victimize them or excuse away bad, morally wrong decisions they knowingly made. And it's especially true in Edmund's case, because his redemption is supposed to be a powerful picture to children reading the series (and to adults, actually). C.S. Lewis was a Christian. The Narnia series shamelessly promotes Christianity and its ideals. Edmund is a picture of the kind of redemption and self-sacrifice sinners receive from Christ [Aslan, in case you missed it, though it's impossible to miss]. If you excuse his actions, it's tantamount to excusing selfish, sinful choice made by anyone. Providing relatable, sympathetic reasons for sinning doesn't make the sin okay. If you could make sin okay just by doing that, Christ wouldn't have died on the cross and Aslan wouldn't have taken Edmund's place on the Stone Table. Ridiculous. Stop.
no, i will never shut up about how edmund was drugged by the white witch and that was why he sold out his siblings to her. no, i will not shut up about how he was fed the magically conjured turkish delight that was enchanted to make him keep wanting to eat it for forever. no i will not shut up about how he asked for sweets that reminded him about a time before the war and when his dad was still home. no i will not shut up about how he was ten years old at that time and without his mom and jadis was the first person who gave him some attention and maternal care in a while. no i will not shut up about how he was just a child and should be allowed to make some mistakes.

did you see that skippable intro disney crafted to be played every time you try to start moana 2 on disney+? it comes on every time. go restart the movie. it's there. they had josh gad with his olaf voice talking about past disney movies - some of them made almost thirty years ago - and they threw in that one popular song from the new mufasa film as "best of all" at the end. and the gall. the unmitigated impudence. of the tagline 'the greatest stories live here'. of saying "aren't we lucky". this is not an ad. do you understand? it is playing on a streaming service you are already paying to use. this is disney parading the corpses of good stories, the likes of which they no longer make, in front of you before you watch this new bad movie. it is so intentional. do you know that the majority of the people who worked on toy story, zootopia, and lilo and stitch no longer work for disney? they are literally saying to you "hey don't forget, we're disney! remember disney? we're so good at this! remember that while you're watching this, our latest soulless sequel". did you see it. did you, like me, immediately turn off the movie and set fire to your television
