General summary of information going into 2.8 (CN SPOILERS FOR 2.6,2.7 WEE WOOO)

This is mostly me collecting the info from the 2.0 series to see what pieces we have going into 2.8

(Spoilers for 2.6 and 2.7, not Global Friendly) (And information currently available on the teaser poster and the teaser for the livestream)

Paradise Regained by John Milton is a sequel to Paradise Lost focused on Jesus' 40 days in the desert while Satan ties to tempt them into disobeying God, which doesn't work.

Vertin has been thrown into the Jesus/ Messianic imagery alot in this game so maybe this would be Arcana as Satan trying one more time to tempt Vertin but it doesnt Succeed.

Paradise "regained" could be a reference to FMN's line from launch "return to the past with the right order", so maybe this is in reference to the Manus wanting to make a Storm and revive Arcana.

Here's my two cents: who is Satan and who js Jesus in this scenario? The story is about preservance through hardship and succeeding, and specifically BP have chosen the sequel "Regained" over the first book "Lost". I would like to argue we already saw something similar to Paradise Lost not with an apple but an orange.

(This is just conjecture but yeah humour me: Vertin is tempted with knowledge back in Tender is the Night by Arcana, join Manus and get the answers you need, but this results in her "fall" with the reversal of Karson, Marian and Schnieder: Vertin spends the next patches to "redeem" herself, either saving others or stopping at nothing until the Manus is defeated.

So once again I think Arcana will tempt Vertin again, maybe this line Urd is on the line - maybe she succeeds here)

Speculation on lore bits:

In 2.5, Vigil Black Ibis tells us that the break into the ACD resulted in 5 objects being stolen, and that out of that five only one was needed for the revival ritual:

Status of the known objects:

- toy robot: designed to trap and control Anjo Nala, destroyed by Vertin in 2.2

- cursed film: the corrupted state of the Film of the Three Swallows by Theresa/ He Rijun, destroyed by Qiangliang and Liang Yue in 2.5

-eye of Komala: dnd dice carved from the Gate of Komala in Antractica, dismissed by the Manus and the weakened state is in the possession of Aleph

- Last two unknown, though one is speculated to be Arcana's ashes

Character Specific:

Arcana: Deffo shes getting revived I think, the teaser confirms this unless something else comes up.

Ulrich- the wild card here, likely his research into the space mission conducted by the 2.7 gang will lead him here, although I dont have an idea of what exactly he could be doing here. 2.7 was able to confirm that the Storm has even affected space to a degree.

Urd is drawn to Antractica, and Vertin and Sonetto are following her there - hopefully Vertin and Urd interact. In 2.6, for reference until it comes out in Global a large section of her story in the prison is untranslated and would be a pain to machine translate for me when its dropping roughly in a month or so. The only thing of note that I could understand from that section is that she is physically drawn to the location in Antractica, believing her answers and memories would be found in Antractica.

From the livestream teaser I want to speculate that either she has willingly joined the Manus in order to get the answers she wants, either Sophia, FMN or Ms Grace falsely promising her; the influence of Arcana somehow; or even the Zeno traitors under Igor taking her there.

My current predictions for Urd/ Dores:

Confirmation she is either Vertin's mom or relative

She, in some way is connected to the revival ritual and is vital to it

Potentially she prior to the Storm knows Arcana, maybe they working together or something

The chance this is the patch she dies in

She regains her memories, either the previous versions (Bessmert, Martha, the identities from London and Rayashki) or her original self pre-Storm

(Or this is the final boss of yuri divorce and the Storm is actually the result of a very messy breakup of a situationship with Arcana lmao)

Predictions for Sonetto and Vertin:

They do something (btw I don't like 2.6, god hope GL improves that by a bit)

Sonetto sacrifices herself for Vertin, either dies or its heavily injured (maybe parallels to their childhood would be cool)

For Vertin, I speculate she and/or Urd are vital to reviving Arcana and are being purposefully lead to Antarctica by Arcana via Sophia

Wild theory - Urd is not related or maybe is, but Arcana is Vertin's mom (their positioning on that teaser lowk makes me think of that, but mostly thats vibes not much there)

Vertin finally gets to throw hands with Arcana (please for the love of GOD I WANNA SEE THAT)

Since we don't have the cast list this time lemme predict appearances outside of the ppl in the teaser:

Basically a given:

Zeno traitors - Igor and Ptolemy

Manus - Ms Grace, FMN and Sophia should be there

Predictions:

Full team timekeeper - Even including Druvis girl its been months get off Aperion theres another island you need to slay on

Regulus specifically - if Ulrich is there, maybe more on the satellite hopefully?

Lopera - Moldir is here, we lose alot of emotional weight I think if Lopera isn't there, unless they properly flesh out Moldir in this patch her character is very weak right now (remove Moldir from 2.2 nothing much changes)

Black Ibis - The Vigils have been tracking FMN and Sophia for ages, and she was the one who disclosed the five objects back in 2.5, so I have a feeling the Vigils may appear here (maybeee Liang cameo but I don't think they would want to overshadow the Limited here)

Beryl (Matilda's mother) - speculation that she is the one who was behind the ACD breakin for the objects, and its clear she went missing on purpose and has plans for Matilda, I really would like to see her fully revealed

Matilda - mostly in relation to her mom, maybe she becomes part of some Foundation backup since the teasers have been implying a war or big battle between the Manus and the Foundation.

Boss prediction?

I would speculate this is the same but evolved maybe final version of the boss seen in Book 2 and 1.9

I keep ChellDOS/AdminPauling one-sided therefore I think the two gays in despair should simply Get Over it and kiss with each other instead. When you think about it, Pauling and GLaDOS/Caroline are very close to the romantic types of the other one. Pauling mimics Chell (athletic, determined, independent, doesnt conform to those they dislike) and GLaDOS mimics Admin (older, has big plans that matter to nothing else, putting up this aggressive or condescending personality to manipulate or defend) -though these are basic similarities, not necessarily why one would like the other. Oh also the designs are vaguely similar? Almost??? like Chell and Pauling I've seen drawn similarly while Caroline and pre-australium Admin are exactly the same but Admin got more flare.

backstory

moth was a lost, poor lil guy who had no home no kin and no destination (/ref) and survived through pickpocketing, odd jobs and luck. (pre playful land fellow honest style) she'd gotten injured at some point after getting caught stealing which is why one side of her wings was replaced w a prosthetic (after she joined the cult)

at some point scythe found her (either through alleyway encounter or near death experience i havent decided yet) and they ended up building a weird sorta friendship by bonding over being criminals (moth has committed a lot of thievery and maybe one accidental murder cough) and annoying banhammer together. then eventually scythe offers moth a place to stay, food to eat and a family (the cult) so moth accepts bcs of course she would she has no other option

they grow close in the cult, along with broker and katana (though katana leaves the cult uh. very violently. causing many a trauma and broken trust) and eventually yuri yay yippee!! tentative strangers to yuri!!!

cult stuff

- moth's job in the cult is basically just odd jobs here and there: delivery, errand running, idk what else but it involves travel and or transport mostly cuz she's fast and she likes travelling

- wishes she and scythe could live without the fear of being caught by the authorities, and wishes they could both have more stability and not have to rely on the cult to survive. unfortunately scythe is fully loyal to the cult

- ^ i accidentally made them doomed bcs of this sobs- moth, in later years, would want to leave the cult. maybe after encountering katana more often. however, even if she were to leave, where would she go? she has no friends or connections outside of the cult, and due to her association with it + her past committed crimes, she'd still constantly be on the run, with the additional threat of the cult hunting her down for being a heretic. but in the cult, she basically can't have any friends outside of it (which yeah thats the point) and she'd never really be free to do what she wants. everything she does and says is monitored and controlled by the cult and she doesnt really even get to keep most of the money she makes bcs it goes back towards the cult.

- ^^ additionally, if they were to leave the cult, they couldn't stay with scythe. scythe would never look at her the same if she were to admit how much she dislikes staying in the 'family'. she'd seen what happened when katana left.

- moth -> scythe: scythe saved her life. gave her a life, even. cannot live without her. will do anything for her gf. yearns to be with scythe without the cult acting as a middleman. drawn to her like a moth to a flame. disgustingly in love haha GAY GAY GAY

- scythe -> moth: moth is a core part of scythe's life. she's powerful, a high ranking and respected person within the cult. people respect and fear her, yes, but nobody except moth and broker really like her. moth loves her without condition, expectation or fear. she absolutely adores moth

- moth -> katana: misses him. katana, scythe and moth (and broker even tho he joined a bit late) were very close together. katana and moth kinda had a mutual understanding though, even if neither of them confronted it. they werent fully happy with the life they had in the cult. unfortunately, katana was much braver.

- katana -> moth: mixed feelings. again, kinda had a mutual understanding with moth over the cult thing. but moth chose to stay. he can't overlook that. he knows she isnt as loyal to the cult as scythe and broker are, but he knows she's too far in to get out. pities them enough to not immediately try to kill her on sight at least

- broker & moth: not much to say with this one theyre kinda just chill w each other sorry i havent developed it much

- moth -> medkit: thinks he's cool, respects him. very thankful to him for upgrading their prosthetic wings

- medkit -> moth: neutral w her. wishes theyd stay out of his office more stop getting injured so much!!! /silly

- moth -> banhammer: HATES him. he's part of the reason her wings broke before (not sure how yet ill write it in eventually) also scared of him cuz. well. police. just doesnt like him

- banhammer -> moth: moth is an annoyance to him. keeps stealing shit, and when she isnt, she's aiding and abetting (kinda?) a serial killer (scythe) and also extremely difficult to catch bcs shes so fast

I have nothing against hetalia yuri! I will say that ive never really found myself drawn to any of it though, but thats probably because i wouldn't consider myself a real himedanshi ^_^ I like yuri a normie amount ... where ill ship it hardcore in like non yuri-focused manga and stuff (like how people ship yaoi in shounen bc its REAL) but ive never been interested in reading yuri manga so i suppose to most people im considered a himedanshi, but as a yaoi overlord i have a higher standard for the title so i dont dare call myself a himedanshi out of respect for real yuri lords. I think the most hetalia yuri i ship is liechenstein x seychelles because of the gakuen hetalia sauce. I'm not into anything else though

I was asked to talk about fugo for this ask game!

How I feel about this character

wouldn’t it be funny if I said I didn’t like her. Fugo is one of my all time favorites in the series. I find her very relatable, and she’s a good pick for anyone who likes headcanoning characters a ton because of how little info we’re actually given in canon.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Fugio is my go-to ship with fugo. I’m mainly drawn to it because their dynamic kind of lends itself to the toxic yaoi feel and that’s my favorite type of yaoi. I’m also a fan of how they fit the opposites attract trope. I would elaborate more but whenever I think about them for too long my thoughts turn into tv static. If you want a better idea of what they’re like to me listen to Icicles by The Scary Jokes. Anyways, I’ve never mentioned it ever, but I also like futrish. I think they’d’ve gotten along if they had the chance to get to know eachother better. Also because yuri is epic. Fugonara is another good one, and I don’t personally ship it, but I can see why someone else would.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

For this one, it’s a really hard choice since there’s a lot of fascinating relationships, but I think I’d have to go with Fugo and Bucciarati. Their relationship is interesting to me in ways that I don’t think I’m smart enough to elaborate on, but yeah. There’s a fic that I read somewhere that portrays it perfectly, so if I remember what it is, I’ll make sure to add it later.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Unfortunately, I’m still completely oblivious to the popularity of things, so I’m just gonna yap about my regular opinion. I think that hcing Fugo as trans fits with her backstory really well. I’ve talked about it here and here before, but basically I think it works because she was raised to be a prodigy child and didn’t really have the chance to learn about or express who she wanted to be as a person.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon I really really wish we got more info about her in general. She doesnt have a canon birthday. She didn’t even have an actual full backstory until the anime came out. If I’m not mistaken, we have more info about la squadra than we do about Fugo. Please I’d be happy even knowing her favorite color

(Only one i kinda know is sailor saturn but i really dont know any other so please feel free to tell me if theres any non-edgy MG show with darkness as a main power going on)

SO, i decided to try to come up with something: A sailor moon-ish ripoff magical girl concept except the main girl's main powers are darkness and demon themed and shes the hero. Also totally not heavily inspired in persona 5 because i cant help myself

Note: this is all made for fun and kinda sorta goncharoved a whole ass franchise while i was at work today, enjoy

SUMMARY :D

Our protagonist is a 16 year old girl named yosuru yoruhime (because pun names are fun) who one day can turn into a magical girl by quite literally making a deal with a devil to protect her best friend from an angel-like monster. Armed with a trident, and using shadows to bind the creature, she killed the monster and saw it morph back into a girl (she was a bully shown earlier in act 1 of the episode), something something using darkness to purge corrupting light from her heart.

were this made into a show, it would be a 24 episode season that slowly introduces the side characters, which include the other 4 members of her entourage of magical girls themed around other monsters (ie, a fire girl that is a red oni while theres also an ice girl that is a blue oni) and her bestie who ends up being manipulated into turning an angelic magical girl and ends in a gay magical girl fight a la symphogear. most of the show would be a monster of the week scenario with slow hints of the big bad group themed after the inner circles of angels, the monsters are "angelized" people who get so deluded in their self righteousness they turn into people who think are allowed to smite anyone who disagrees and can turn people into a mob that adore them. Most of the non fight part of the show would feature yosuru doing stuff like, being lazy at school, getting sent to detention, going to her friends important events and being gay with her best friend/future rival Gabrielle

around episode 15 there gabrielle should be introduced as a "rival" for our group, and on the course to the end of the series it should have a "best friend girl/crush is betrothed to some anime man who is obviously evil and she has no real choice about it but she doesnt want to be there" plot. which most of the climax before their fight revolves around them in an aquarium school trip that ends with yosuru revealing her identity on accident to her and leads to the fight

something something 3 episodes before finale they fight except not really because yosuru cant harm her bestie, and ends the fight crying over her in a hug, and in the finale they join forces along with the other side girls to kill the giant monster version of the fiancee who was the true mastermind of the whole operation with a light/darkness magic combo. final scene of episode ends with a kiss during tanabata in summer, and a season 2 stinger in the post credits....

THEMING

The overall theming of the whole series is about the repression of the individual for the sake of societal order and the conflict that lies within, with yosuru being a vigilante that constantly fights monsters who want to make the world bend to their wills and how everything should work, and how we should never bow down to anyone else's desires but ours, and live our best lives with the ones we love.

The gang are the typical 5 men gang, with a fiery bancho girl with a heart of gold, a sarcastic icey bookworm that is tsundere for the bancho, A straightforward thinking gun user (a la mami from madoka) and a hikikomori lightning girl who is both fascinated by the gun girl, and also dumbfounded (basically the dynamic that yusuke and futaba have in p5, but with lesbians) And of course all their names are pun names:

I love Marcille dungeon meshi mainly cause I love how shes drawn so much especially with the dungeon lord outfit she's incredible. i also love how her main thing is that she's scared of losing all the people she loves because she will outlive them which feels a bit relatable especially if you're young and your thinking about your grandparents and parents and stuff...

also like how most normal elves r like looking like the prettiest bitches wver like they just came out of every fashion studio but u can tell marcille is a half-elf cause she doesnt look as stereotypically pretty... also her ears aren't as pointed....

mismatched (and mostly shieldbreaker related) hcs i got that serve no one but me:

-amani was left handed. doesn't share that fact with anyone on the hamlet because of the heaviness of the religion (light being based of christianity and all its sub-sectors, she doesnt want further persecution). frequently points to things with her stub before catching herself and switching. Is extra dedicated in battle practice as well as learning how to write with her right hand, and the most observant people (like alhazred & barristan) figure it out as the reason eventually but dont share it with others

-amani has reasonable 'wanted' payout bounty (escaped high profile slave, murder, theft?), higher that reynauld (defector, theft), along the same monetary compensation as dismas (killed a mother and child of unknown but reasonable to assume at least well off status, again theft) but not as high as sarmenti (killed a king & his court) and possibly... baldwin (killed his own court -> persecuted by friends and family of those who planned to betray him, would have the monetary means to put a high price on his head)

-figuring out a tier list for how high everyones bountys would be could be fun. incidentally, tardif has a copy of almost everyones in his cringe little bounty belt. since he ended up staying at the hamlet* and not pursuing them further it kinda functions like a grandpas wallet full of photos of his """"loved ones"""". sometimes others ask to look at the drawn portraits and compare the likeness.

-*he stayed because of morbid curiosity of whats down there, + he can keep killing and hunting without worrying much for livelyhood if he stays + can pursue baking sidehobby

-everyone loves tardifs pancakes/flapjacks. he doesnt give any to dismas until he finishes the leather boot he so """"lovingly"""" roasted for him. says everyone had to eat a boot before they could get flapjacks (they didnt) (he just likes to see dismas in particular suffer)

-you have to trust me on this. amani has had yuri moments with all the other women in the hamlet. and when shes not having a yuri moment the absence of yuri is also yuri (jokes)

-amani has trouble trusting and getting along with other men because of her past, but it becomes easier if they have their faces covered and keep their distance. the ones she ends up getting along first and easier are sarmenti because of their shared interests (performance, murder of abusers if you must) and tardif because they can stay in comfortable silence. dismas breaks the mold by not having his (whole) face covered but always making his intentions clear and having an overall friendly atitude. reynauld breaks the mold because despite adhering to covering his face and distance keeping, he is a crusader. their acquaintanceship never goes beyond tenseness and bitter one line exchanges. (getting along with dismas doesnt change much of anything)

-for some inexplicable reason she gets along better than most with damian. (dlc buddies) (the inexplicable here is: im actually borrowing hcs from the fic 'denouncing the desert' and i like the plotline of people suspecting shes a vampire because of her developing fangs and whatnot on account of her blight powers, but damian, known vampirehunter, always rebutting it, telling others to knock it off and not hunt her down. she appreciates that and overlooks whatever else insa- sorry i mean neurodivergent shit he gets up to with his own cult like convictions in the light. it might not fit as well outside that context though)

-already said this in a different post but slapstick hijinks with paracelsus where she becomes slightly obsessed with learning from where exactly amani is generating blight to use in battle (its not as clearcut as bigby, and amani evades conversation of this as much as possible) and is always trying to get samples from her much to her chagrin. moments of closeness where amani DOES need her wounds checked out allow para to get some samples though. (and then they kiss. love wins <3)

-(this one isnt to everyones liking but thats ok) junia sometimes leaves some of her 'works' in the library of the hamlet under anonymous author. amani by chance clocked her secondary handwriting she uses for those (she was specifically looking for wlw material just in case it was actually threre) shyly asks her about it and one awkward conversation later they have a shared hobby and bond over it. shes her fanfiction diary entries beta reader where she helps changing everyones names (junias fatal flaw is that its all always rpf. sad!)(jokes) before leaving it as "anonymous author" in the libraries. swears up and down she wont find it weird, and to let her read, the shieldbreaker x others fics she wrote (junia doesnt let her because she WILL find it weird. would you tell your raunchy fanfic buddy how much her abs and biceps make you unseasonably warm? hmm.)

-expansion of the above but junias miscellaneous yaois(joke) and other tales involving the guys would make the warming-up process easier for amani because if shes ever afraid she imagines all of them in a loving embrace and it makes her snort. junias just happy she has someone else to talk to about this, as unlikely as a nsfw appreciator partner amani may seem (and then they ki-)

-audrey has taught amani how to waltz (so she has more different dance styles in her reportoire, of course). "i hope this doesnt awaken something in me" <- audrey while leading (and then t-)

-likewise with boudica, they would compare their different fighting styles and take notes on how to improve based on the others performance. (and then they. and then)

-shes quiet shes demure etc etc but amani would get silly with the ones she trusts the most if the others personality would allow it. mainly thinking sarmenti, dismas and audrey here playing a little private show of noblemen and rich people stereotypes for their own amusement

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?: Moroth, as established by lore in oblivion, isnt allergic or weak to garlic as a vampire, however, she is like overly paranoid that she secretly is allergic to it and is grateful that garlic is a rare ingredient to see in morrowind so she doesnt have to find out Fjotver doesnt really have any phobias tbh, shes somewhat overly unafraid of the world to a dangerous degree

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?: both Moroth and Fjotver were originally created for specific play thrus of morrowind, Moroth to play as a vampire and play thru the vampire clan questlines and Fjotver was to both play as a werewolf as added by the bloodmoon dlc as well as a vampire hunting mod, however what solidified them as toxic doomed yuri was the song no children as it was popular at the time and i was enjoying it :)

What's your oc's gender identity? What's their relationship to their gender?: they both just consider themselves women, however have adapted, or havent, to the expected gender norms of morrowind. Moroth adopted the more traditional feminine performance of dunmer to better disarm and fly under the radar within the community as a vampire by reducing the amount of friction against her prescence by avoiding more traditional gender performance of the orsimer diaspora within morrowind, she isnt opposed to being more masculine by dunmer standards in line with orismer femininity but neither does she mind being more feminine in dunmer standards, she could do either or fjotver however sticks to the culture she grew up with in skyrim as a woman who (even by tes5 era standards, is somewhat breaks gender stereotypes by being masculine, since ht egender politics of skyrim is kinda ambiguous but generally conforms to woman feminine man masculine of our sensibilities even if some women are warriors, its a whole essay, just gender in tes is a dissertation tbh that i dont wanna get into too deeply here lol) is more masculine than many women back home and is proud and keeps that mindset in morrowind

What's their distinguishing feature?: Moroth's feature is definately her tusks, theyre obviously a less common feature in morrowind (or anywhere for that matter) but hers are noticably longer than the average tusk youll see in life Fjotver's most noticeable trait is her face paint, blood red in a triangle from her mouth to neck and a stark line aross her nose and cheeks

hair: How does your OC wear their hair? Does it have some kind of meaning?: Moroth wears her hair in a small top bun with 5 braids leading into it with the rest of her hair loose and long Fjotver pulls her hair back into a braid starting at teh crown of her head down her back,
