I think a degree of why Dreaming Spanish is successful for people, is not even that it's an 'only comprehensible input' approach. I think it's successful for so many people, because Dreaming Spanish specifies how many hours a student needs to study to hit various progress milestones.

And a lot of 'traditional' students who study with classes, do not necessarily pay attention to if they studied much outside of class. They may not even pay attention to how many hours of time, in the grand span of their life, they dedicated to learning the language. If you're in classes, and you're studying Spanish 50-100 hours a month, you WILL study the language 600-1200 hours in that year, and you will likely match up to Dreaming Spanish level 4 (A2) or level 6 (B1) skills at the end of the year. If you study Spanish in classes, and you're studying 50-100 hours a month, then in 2 years you will have: 1200 hours to 2400 hours, so DS Level 6 (B1) or past DS Level 7 (B2+, well on your way to C1). For traditional students who DO study 50-100 hours a month, they'll reach decent skill levels in 1-2 years. For traditional students who study less hours per month, they'll probably still reach a decent level if they just keep studying several hours a week regularly for enough years. For Dreaming Spanish learners, who are just following the DS roadmap, they'll reach decent skill levels in a similar amount of hours to those traditional students.

(And a note: FSI estimates are similar to Dreaming Spanish estimates. FSI estimates each week a student is studying 40 hours, which is WAY more than most traditional learners study in a week... and WAY more than most Dreaming Spanish learners learn in a week. FSI estimates 30 weeks to learn Spanish at 40 hours of study a week, or 1200 hours.)

My point is... it seems to be more about hours spent learning, rather than any particular study method or material. Whatever study activities you can get yourself to do, for hundreds to thousands of hours, is what will cause you to reach your goals. The specific route you take, and materials you use, do not matter very much in the big picture.

pardon me if you’re tired of discussing this but. we know aa7 is on capcom’s radar on some level. and now they’ve rereleased every game right?? they’ve finally run out of backlog material after almost yearly releases since 2019…. Not to put the clown wig and nose back on too early but do you think we’ll actually get news about, or get to see, aa7 next year?

Never tired of discussing this!! This is right around the time of year where I'd be preparing to make my yearly AA7 Speculation Post anyway so this is great timing. (TGS, my enemy, is approaching.)

So just to make sure everyone's on the same page, here's a quick recap of where we're currently at:

In November 2020 we got internal Capcom leaks which included a calendar from 2019 with the roadmap for the AA series the next couple of years. This included:

DGS1&2 collection, which I did not think was going to happen ever, releasing April-June 2021

AA7, releasing around October-December 2021, right around the 20th anniversary.

Through late 2019-mid 2022, reconsider porting 456

We got DGS1&2 (a bit later than in the plan, but by like a month), we got the 456 ports, we got bonus AAI ports, we have nothing for AA7 nearly three years after it was supposed to come out. The pandemic is an obvious feature that could contribute to its delay, but at this point with 456 ports out I think we can safely say that this was not the only cause.

Some other things that may or may not be contributing to AA7's delay include:

Yamazaki, the previous main writer for 5&6 and the AAIs, left Capcom in 2020. If he was involved in AA7 at all, that could throw a wrench into things, but I recall hearing he intended AA6 to be his last AA game (I AM STRUGGLING TO FIND THE SOURCE THOUGH SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME), so I don't think this contributed very much. It does, however, mean that we're unsure about who the next main writer is - depending on what Takumi's up to or if they had to bring someone new on, there could be complications related to that.

I think TGAA did way better than anyone expected, which I covered in this post. It's possible that this could have shifted Capcom's priorities to porting more old games / porting to all modern consoles. It may have made people at Capcom think "damn everyone loves Takumi" so they tried to lure him back to AA7, and I have no idea how well that would have gone or if Takumi is even interested in continuing mainline AA right now. (I do think this at least contributed to the Ghost Trick ports.)

In my first ever AA7 speculation post I talked about how the ending of AA6 kind of wrote them into a corner re: how to continue with the series and which protagonist to use. I still stand by that argument even if a lot of that post aged badly.

Console ports! Previously new AA games were for whichever Nintendo handheld is out now (GBA, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS). But now that the series is doing really well on all consoles, they may have decided to try to make their next mainline entry on all consoles, which would take more development time. Adding to this is that the Switch is near the end of its lifecycle with the Switch 2 (or whatever the successor will be) being announced soon - meaning that, if AA7 is coming out soon, Capcom is in the position of "do we try to squeeze this into the end of the Switch's lifecycle" (which, I'll need to find sources for this, is speculated to be some of the reasons behind why AAI2 and DGS2 sold badly when they were first released, and they can't make the same mistake thrice... right...?) or "do we try to time it with the release of the Switch 2"?

Also, a lot of this depends on how far AA7 was into development whenever it was derailed. If it was derailed from the pandemic, then according to the calendar, it would likely have still been in the prototype stage. It may be early enough that they would have had to start from scratch whenever they picked it up again. I don't work in the gaming industry so I have no idea how long it takes them to make a game or how easy it would be from what stage they're in.

One thing we can compare to is some of the comments about the recent AAI ports: in this interview, Shunsuke Nishida, the producer of the AAI collection, says that development on the collection began in 2022. He also mentions that this began once development on 456 was concluded. This leads me to believe that (contrary to my previous assumptions) 456 and AAIC were not developed concurrently (or if so, had very minimal overlap), and that the process of upscaling graphics, porting, and localization took them... about a year, maybe? So that takes time, even without taking into consideration how long it would take to come up with a new idea + write the script + the bulk of the programming that would have to be done that isn't considered with porting + probably way more than I can think of because again I do not work in the gaming industry.

There's also the question of why 456 and AAIC weren't developed concurrently. The calendar from 2020 shows that TGAA and AA7 were meant to be developed at least somewhat concurrently, and the staff from TGAA would eventually merge into working on AA7. Once again, we don't know what happened to the staff that were supposed to be working on AA7. It's possible pandemic complications meant they got shuffled onto other projects. It's possible the AA-related team is smaller now than it was in 2020, so they only have enough people to work on one project at a time. It's also possible that there's a team that was working on ports, and a team that was working on a new game, and now the "port team" is freed up to work on the "new game team".

Either way though, pretty much every interview with the staff for the 456 or AAI ports are all saying "look forward to the future of the series", which is definitely Corporate Speak, but unless they're bringing the ports of the Layton crossover (fingers crossed) that can only mean one thing. (AAI anime?) Plus, like I've discussed in this post, AA is having fantastic sales in general. They've seemingly either hired a new social media manager or changed the strategy so there is much more engagement on twitter. And AA is getting on bigger and bigger announcements - though AA trilogy ports were announced at TGS (at an AA-specific panel), TGAA duology ports were announced unceremoniously on twitter. Afterwards, 456 ports got announced at the Capcom Showcase during Summer Game Fest. And now AAI collection got announced at a Nintendo Direct, which I imagine is even more expensive, so the series must be going in a good direction for them to think that's worth it!

That's a lot of rambling for me to say I definitely think it's coming.

When are we going to see it though!!

Coming up in September is my eternal enemy Tokyo Game Show. Since AAI collection is being released at the beginning of September... it might be a bit too soon to announce a new game, but who knows. They might think it's profitable to ride the hype they're building now for AAI collection to announce a new game. Or they might let it sit for a while.

With AAIC getting announced at a Direct, I'm thinking they'll want to make AA7's announcement a) big and b) global. AA6 was announced in Famitsu, but the problem with that is that it's a mostly Japanese audience, and some interviews have been talking about how AA's global audience is particularly contributing to how big it is right now. So I'm expecting AA's next announcement to be at something major and something that will get attention from overseas audiences.

If they have been working on AA7 concurrently -- and honestly I do think there has at least been some progress on it since 2019 -- we could definitely see an announcement within the next year. I was also saying this in 2020, though, so don't take my word for it. There's been two year gaps between ports up until the AAI collection, and they seemed pretty proud about releasing 456 and AAI in the same year, so... maybe they'll want to keep it going and announce AA7 within the next year, especially if they'll have a longer announcement -> release period than they normally would for ports.

Potential candidates include:

Tokyo Game Show: As previously stated, it's very close to the AAIC release, so I don't think it's the best timing for it. I would not want my favorite AA game overshadowed by whatever the hell they're going to do with AA7. Likelihood: depends on how fast they want to follow up on the hype.

The Game Awards: is the next major gaming event, but that's already massive in terms of the type of games that get announced there, and it's expensive! Nintendo Direct is one thing since AA has always been a Nintendo-first series, but I don't think it's big enough to justify putting in a Game Awards ad. and I already have my clown wig on for persona 6 there. Likelihood: pretty low tbh

Next Year's Summer Game Fest-related Shows: I think this is the most likely, considering both the 456 collection and the AAI collection were announced around this time. For AA7 I'd say a Nintendo Direct to get lots of eyes on it, especially if AAIC sales pay off. Likelihood: pretty high!

Which leads me into my wildcard answer:

Switch 2 Announcement Stream: If Capcom decides to go in and make AA7 one of the first games for whatever the switch successor would be, it could be announced here. I regret to admit that I am a very bad gamer and only like two things, and therefore have not ever been present for one of these things to know how many games get announced as launch games for a new console, but, like, it's possible.

In the above scenario, I'm not necessarily saying that AA7 would be a Switch 2 exclusive - because I think that would be stupid after so much of the support they've gotten from the ports has been from playstation and steam - but I am definitely the kind of person who would buy a console for one video game. Shoutout to me buying a switch in part anticipating that aa7 would come out on it and that is not looking likely

Anyways, that's my speculation!! Reminder that this is mostly uninformed and that I have no knowledge of anything related to sales or marketing or video game development, and as a result of that, I have been wrong (aside from the one time I accurately predicted AAI ports as a joke) for four consecutive years.

i'm doing subject headers for the four domains of language learning because my notes are getting out of control! the tl;dr is that i'm fairly unhappy with my speaking capabilities but i'm so excited to be on 90%+ native material!!

reading

i restarted reading for the first time since moving over to 100% audiovisual immersion (about 18 months). worked out a page count goal for each ~level~ of reading, and i'm finishing up graded readers now!

it's been incredibly, frustratingly slow going. it takes so much time to get through one 100-page book it's driving me nuts.

writing

pretty much the only writing i've done is googling stuff in spanish, which has mostly been news-related.

listening

i finished a couple of dubbed shows - one for kids that i'd never seen, a rewatch, and an anime!!

i'm at story-level comprehension for everything i'm watching.

i did drop one-person podcasts & all non-fiction audiobooks for now in favor of conversational audio, t.v., fictional audiobooks, &c.

edited to add: i went on a solo trip to CDMX for a couple weeks just after posting this, and could understand less than half of regular quotidian conversation. i did have a couple of fun longer conversations, but overall was struggling to understand waiters, hotel employees, the taxi drivers, and didn't fully understand bus and museum tours in spanish.

i tried & gave up on conversation classes - i was translating wayyyy too much for my own goals and preferences, and they were a crazy high emotional time investment.

i had a lot of "fossilized" ticks - mix ups with french, lots of beginner-level errors. i was set at A1 in my classes, and while i was complimented on my accent & vocabulary, it was very frustrating to be comparable to a brand new student. moooooore input.

edited to add: during my trip to CDMX right after hitting 800 hours, my speech was firmly low beginner. i had a hard time communicating in any way. very rarely did individual words come to me without rehearsal and forethought, much less full sentences.

unfortunately i seem to be solidly below the curve for this. i have seen testimonials from people at the same place, with the same amount of input, that fared much better [example one, two].

Dreaming Spanish Levels

(Apply to languages very different than ones you know by doubling the Dreaming Spanish roadmap, and apply to languages very similar to ones you know by halving the roadmap).

In Level 1, it seems that most people primarily use Comprehensible Input Lessons, and other materials feel 'too hard'. If someone is not a true beginner, then they may find Learner Podcasts understandable after several hours of Level 1 Comprehensible Input Lessons, or may find CI Lessons in the higher levels are comprehensible too.

If someone is not a true beginner, they may already understand the main idea of cartoons for toddlers (using visuals to help them), and may understand certain things they've watched before in another language (so if they're a huge Pokemon fan and have a lot of episodes practically memorized, and not a true beginner, they may be able to watch Pokemon super early on).

Note, if someone IS a true beginner and there is no Comprehensible Input lessons for absolute beginners, or very few lessons, then either CI Lessons can be repeated multiple times, or Cartoons for Toddlers can be used (just be aware they will feel extremely 'hard' for 100-300 hours). Peter Foley, when he did his experiment to learn French with only audio-visual French materials, watched cartoons for toddlers for a couple hundred hours to learn the basics of the language, which then made cartoons for older kids comprehensible, and so on. So if you have absolutely no understandable materials to use, cartoons for toddlers will work - the visuals provide enough 'main idea' context to eventually pick up the basics of the language.

Alternatively, if someone is a true beginner and there's not enough CI lessons for them, they can try Crosstalk with a Tutor. This would basically entail the tutor using pictures and gestures to speak to you in the target language, and you would respond to them in a language you know well. So the tutor would be doing Comprehensible Input Lessons for their portion of the crosstalk. As you'd improve, the tutor could use less visuals to aid your understanding. And eventually, as you understand much more, crosstalk sessions can be turned into regular conversation tutoring sessions in the target language (in later Levels).

In Level 2, it seems many people start to find easier Learner Podcasts understandable. So Level 2 is when audio-only materials tend to open up. Really ambitious people, and people who aren't truly beginners, may find that some materials for native speakers is doable at this level, especially if they've seen/heard/read the material before in a language they understand.

In Level 3, many people can start watching cartoons for toddlers (Peppa Pig, Bluey) and cartoons for teens (Avatar the Last Airbender, Disney shows) that they've seen before in a language they understand. For some people, cartoons for toddlers may feel incredibly hard until Level 4-5, however the main idea of cartoons for toddlers may be grasped at this level. (Some people want to understand the main idea AND most details before they use a material)

In Level 4, audiobooks of things people have read before, becomes doable. Some shows, if people have seen them before, become understandable (Naruto, dubbed Disney live action shows, some slice of life shows about daily life)

In Level 5, more audiobooks become doable including more that people have NOT heard/read before (especially YA audiobooks), many cartoons for kids become doable even if the person has not watched before (like Naruto, Avatar the Last Airbender, Disney shows they have not seen before), and some shows for adults if the person has seen them before (dubbed Breaking Bad, daily life shows for adults), some new shows become understandable if the person can tolerate only a general main idea level of plot comprehension and is willing to rely on the visuals too in order to follow the main idea.

It seems like it takes until Level 6 for people to feel comfortable watching some shows for adults, which they've never seen before, and even then there's also dialects and slang that make certain shows hard to understand until Level 7. It takes until Level 6 for some people to feel comfortable with some audiobooks they've never heard/read before, and for other people Level 6 is when pretty much any audiobook becomes understandable.

Level 7, some people only feel comfortable with some shows for adults at this stage, and there's still shows with dialects and slang which are too hard unless captions are turned on. With captions on, most shows for adults are now understandable for at least the general main idea. Some people will feel they can understand any audiobook at this point, others will feel only some audiobooks like those for kids or YA audiobooks or audiobooks of things they've read before are doable. Pretty much all materials made for learners will be understandable at this point, like 'Advanced' Dreaming Spanish Lessons, podcasts made for learners. Any material with a visual component will probably be understandable for at LEAST the main idea, since there's the added context of visuals. How comfortable people are with audio-only or text-only material will greatly depend on how much prior extensive listening or extensive reading practice they got by Level 7.

i had a big shock of trying bluey for the first time ever, and understanding it word for word for a full episode! (seven minutes!) there are definitely many fully incomprehensible scenes, but i watched about twenty mins before hitting my first one. amazing! wonderful!! comprehensible input is really working!!!

The Demon Lord’s Castle is still, silent as the little Ds have long since scurried off to rest and the ghosts of the castle are due to making their usual haunting rounds. The prince silently returns to the castle as Mammon was fast asleep against his chest. Inducing him with a sleeping spell, Mammon would be out cold, at least until he could get his wounds cleaned. Still feeling a sense of rage bubbling underneath him, he quietly huffs as he makes his way to his chambers. He would have to find a fitting punishment for Lucifer and his brothers as he turns the corner. 

“A little late for a midnight stroll, isn’t it Young Master?” Barbatos inquires as his face was illuminated by the moonlight, an eyebrow raised as his eyes glanced over the unmoving Mammon in Diavolo’s arms. The butler sighs as he shook his head, “Come Young Master. It seems MC’s prediction came true sooner than they thought.” Barbatos mutters as he shakes his head, it seemed his lord had made up his mind on what was to be done.

Entering an empty guest room, Diavolo set Mammon down on the bed as Barbatos grimaces from the scent of blood as he removes the Avatar’s clothes. It was a sight that should have not surprised them, but it was clear whatever happened behind the closed doors of the House of Lamentation, clearly stayed behind closed doors. Mammon’s torso and back was a roadmap of wounds, fresh and recovering, along with scars, new and old. Diavolo frowns as Barbatos pulls the old bandages off and gets a fresh set on. 

“I am aware of Lucifer punishing his brothers, I just wasn’t aware that Mammon receives the worst. MC was naturally concerned about Mammon once they left and it shows.” he concludes with a huff. Barbatos treats the reopened wounds and hums lowly as he inspects the wounds: Whiplashes, several burns, and rope burns, Lucifer’s calling card. 

“Of course Young Master, MC has voiced their opinion on Lucifer’s cruel and harsh punishments. Naturally if a human went through one such as this, they would be dead, and thus MC fears for Mammon’s well-being when it comes to things like this.” The butler finishes treating Mammon as he gives the young master a look. “You have best get some rest my Lord.” he says before leaving as Diavolo grunts in acknowledgement as he sighs and closes his eyes. MC was right to be concerned, their last request to him was still fresh on his mind.

“Thank you for inviting for tea Lord Diavolo, I’m surprised you managed to squeeze time for me.” You say as you sit across the Prince in the gardens of the castle, Barbatos quietly sets a tray of tea and biscuits for you both before leaving you both to your meeting. It was your last week in the Devildom and you had a request for Diavolo while you were gone. Diavolo chuckles shortly, “Of course MC, it is your last week here with us. I suppose the brothers are trying to spend as much time with you before you leave.” 

“Yeah...About that.” You twiddle your thumbs and bite your lip, “Lord Diavolo? May I request something of you?” you ask as Diavolo quizzically raises an eyebrow and sets his teacup down. “What is it MC? Have the brothers done something to upset you?” he asks as you nibble on your biscuit and sigh, “In a way they have.” you reply as you set your treat down, “A couple of nights ago, I found Mammon in the middle of punishment by Lucifer. I snuck him some dinner, only for Lucifer to catch us and deny him of his food. I did plead with him to spare Mammon since I was going to go back to the human world.” 

You pause as you take a breath, you could remember Lucifer’s face as you stood between him and Mammon, as you had done many times before. “He let us go just this once because I was leaving, and didn’t want this to be the last memory of him. But...I can’t help but think that after I’m gone he’ll hurt Mammon with even more harshness.”

“You care deeply for Mammon, quite a lot. Don’t you MC?” Diavolo concludes as the second born held a special place in your heart. Whether it was because he was your first, or that from you, Mammon felt the for the first time in a long while that he was needed and wanted. You nod as he hums lowly, “And what is your request?” 

You exhale as if to summon all the courage you held and got up from your seat before standing in front of Diavolo and immediately bow down before him, your head dipped down into the grass as the gesture caught him by surprise. “Please Lord Diavolo. As my last request, I beg of you. Please look after Mammon when I’m gone.” You beseech the Prince as he immediately rises from his seat to pick you right back up.

“MC! Please!” Diavolo gently cups your face. Concern and pain was written on your face as you truly felt Mammon’s treatment would exponentially get worse when you weren’t there to protect him. “Lord Diavolo...Please.” You quietly plead as the Prince huffs but he pulls you to a hug. “As you wish MC. I will honor your last request and do everything in my power to protect Mammon.”

“Thank you Lord Diavolo. Truly.”  As soon as he releases you, you dig into your bag and hand him a letter. ‘For my first’ was written on the envelope. “When that time comes, can you give him this letter for me?”

Morning rolled over sooner than later as life in the House of Lamentation carried on as usual. Mammon’s punishments were just a daily occurrence to the brothers, and he usually came back quite hurt, both physically and mentally if they looked close enough. And all of them would continue to insult and ridicule him, and none of them had even bother to check up on him. 

You would however, during your time there. You’d always find ways to get him out of his punishments, and when you couldn’t, you’d help treat his wounds and did everything in your power to comfort him when his brothers should have been doing the same.

“Where is Mammon?” Lucifer questioned as he glared at Mammon’s empty seat as the rest of the bunch weren’t too interested in their older brother’s condition nor his whereabouts. “Probably out being a scumbag, the bastard still owes me money from centuries ago.” Leviathan muttered as he hadn’t bothered looking up from his handheld game. Satan looks up from his book and sighs, “I suppose he’ll come out whenever he feels like it.”

Beelzebub nodded, “Lucifer. You did punish him quite a bit, I think he’s tired.” he pointed out and frowns a little as if he remembers what felt like a distant memory. Lucifer huffs as he crosses his arms, “If I don’t punish Mammon for his wrongdoings, he will continue as he pleases. Who knows when he’ll end in such troubles where even we cannot reach him. It is for the better. I am merely protecting him from himself.” he states as Beelzebub frowns maybe Lucifer had a point. Perhaps he would go and check on Mammon...maybe after breakfast.

There’s light. It’s warm, inviting, and comforting as Mammon can feel it wrap around his body, his wounds becoming nonexistent as his eyes flutters open. The light is quite inviting as a woman’s voice whispers to him softly, “Mammon.” A voice from the past was calling out to him, "Mammon? Come on Mammon, you have duties to attend to, remember?" Mammon sighs as his eyes stared down at a figure of Lilith before him, who warmly smiled at him and held out her hand for him. “Lilith? Is that you?” he asks as he reaches out to touch her.

The moment he touches her, the sound of an arrow piercing through skin breaks the illusion of comfort. Lilith’s form before him shatters, the last image of her face contorts in utter agony as the arrow had struck her all those millennia ago before disappearing. “Lilith! No, wait!!” Mammon screams as six ghastly shadows of his brothers appears in her place. 

He lets out a sharp gasp as the tallest figure with glaring red eyes stares him down, it was Lucifer. “You’re such a disappointment Mammon. To think, I’ve put so much faith in you.” He ran from Lucifer, his first option whenever he got caught, only to be stopped by citrus eyes stares down at him as the shadow Leviathan rumbles with no remorse. “I can’t believe you’re the older brother. It’s so unfair. You don’t deserve it, you’re such scum that you don’t deserve have your position and power.”

A shadowy figure with glaring green eyes reached for Mammon as he snarled deeply. “I can’t fathom that you’re the brother than raised me. It’s almost mortifying. Come, make yourself useful.” Mammon cried out in terror as shadowy claws came after him as Satan’s figure towered above him as well. Mammon stumbled backwards before light orange eyes looked down on him, Asmodeus? “I can’t believe you’re even my brother! The only thing that makes up for your existence is if you just ended it!” It was true wasn’t it? The all wished he was dead, they’d be so much better without him?  

He was dearly hoping this would be over and he’d wake up from this soon, only to see two pairs of amethyst eyes looking down at him as the twins voices were merged as one. “You failed her. You failed us. You’re supposed to be the big brother that protects us.“ Beelzebub’s hand easily scoops up Mammon as the shadow of his brother looked ready to devour him as Mammon struggles in its iron grip. 

He is passed over to Belphegor as a hand holds him by the throat. “It’s your fault she’s dead. If we knew how much of a disgrace of a brother we have now, you should have died instead.” His voice rumbles as Mammon is left with the collective stares of utter disdain of his brothers before gasping for air. Belphegor’s grip on his throat tightens as he could feel himself fading out before the rest of his brother join in to choke the out life out of him as well.

“MC!!! MC, please...Help me!” Mammon screams for you, as he always had whenever he had nightmares, and without fail you always came to him. Thrashing about on the bed, nightmares had always tormented him but the ones where his brothers wished he was dead instead of Lilith were always the worst. 

His brothers would never understand the anguish he had carried deep inside of him as they showed him no mercy to his pleas. A hand reaches out to touch him, and on instinct Mammon holds onto the hand before he cradled against a warm chest. Between pants and shaky breaths, dewy blue eyes opened up to see golden amber eyes staring down at him.

Hi there! You seem to be quite the fan of Lufia in general, including the cancelled game Lufia III: Ruins Chasers. It's been many years since I've really looked into this, and the amount of info is quite surprising. Foremost among them is the article written over at unseen64, the one where it talks about the Lufia III design documents at the Japanese Yahoo auction website. It frustrates me to no end knowing there is basically a roadmap to creating the true Lufia III out there (and knowing no Japanese, I can't even try looking into it). The article doesn't say anything else, and this has probably already been looked into, but still, I'd like to hear it from someone more in-the-know than I. Has this been looked into, maybe through contacting the seller or the buyer? Is there hope?

As far as I know the auction was put up twice, and both times it ended without a single bid (both the minimum bid and the buyout price were very expensive)

I think some people have tried to contact the sellersome time after the auction disappeared, but without luck. (it's unknown whether the seller doesn't want to respond or just doesn't speak English or any other reasons)

Also, the movie on Unseen64 that says "Spring TGS'98 is not actually the TGS Demo Movie at all. That one is a fanmade trailer made with art/text that's inside the Estpolis III promotional booklet from TGS. (Pretty much back in the 90's, the Lufia.net webmaster took it from a Japanese Lufia fansite without being able to read Japanese and then that movie is still being mistaken for the TGS Demo Movie by western fans, even today.)

While the TGS Demo still can't be seen online nowadays, here is a Twitter Thread of someone who took some photos of the E3 Trailer that someone took at Natsume's booth at E3 1999.

Natsume's E3 trailer is the very same trailer that was shown at Tokyo Game Show, except for the screen with the release date and the fact that they put a Lufia logo on top of the Japanese Estpolis logo.

Some other old information I remember was that Lufia III didn't get as far the programming stages and that it would have a top down isometric view, with 2D graphics that'd be enhanced with 3D (I guess 3D effects or object.

Also,I think a 2010 magazine mentioned that Lufia III may have a chance if Lufia DS sells well (it did not). Writing this from memory, but I think the article mentioned that since Lufia III was supposed to be the final chapter of the trilogy, but since so much time has passed since Lufia I and II released (Lufia II was 15 years old in 2010) they would like to have the story of Lufia II and I reintroduced first - before Lufia III would have chance.

This ties in with the Hamlet Roadmap, as one of the new upcoming characters description is "a mysterious inventor who finds himself exactly where he wanted to be...".

We see Wagstaff's silhouette in the portal during the video too, and that's very similar to one of the two mysterious characters we were promised in single player through the Hamlet Roadmap, confirming once and for all that we are finally going to see what happened to our favorite missing radio creator. (Not to mention someone found Wagstaff's file audio through data mining. So yes: Wagstaff is going to be playable 100% confirmed). His willingness to reach the Constant is also pointed out from a small poster with a Terrorbeak visible at 1:00 in the video.

So, what did we learn from this video?

Winona was actually trapped in the Constant during the Voxola fire in 1919, two years before Wilson. The developers say that because the time "works differently" into the Constant, it doesn't mean that she necessarily reached the world before Wilson did. (This is also a nice way to say "don't try to use maths to solve timeline problems with this game lore, it just won't work")

Wagstaff created a machine similar to Wilson's to access the Constant, suggesting that Maxwell might have done many attempts to create the Maxwell's Door through time. And this video officially confirms Wagstaff as a playable character for DS (and maybe for DST too?)

Willow did not cause the Voxola Fire, the malfunctioning portal did. And probably something similar happened to Wickerbottom (we all know it's her) back in 1911 and possibly to someone else in Brussels the year before.

Wickerbottom, Wendy, Woodie and WX-78 were trapped before 1919.

Winona is going to be shipped with Genni by all the DS fandom from now on.
