my hot take is that hickey would never see a therapist or a doctor who would medicate him. and even if he would be prescribed mood stabilisers or antidepressants, he wouldn't take them. his delusions, paranoia and mania are gifts from the universe and he needs to harness those powers to put greatness into the world and have messy breakup sex with his wife and his boyfriend

Really random question, but what does everyone headcanon E.C standing for?

Cause we know that Adam was the one to choose those initials, that he chose what names they represent.

I personally have a couple of names I tend to gravitate toward when I think of them but nothing ever seems to really fit right. Which is ironic and really sobering when you think of just how much the adopted name seems to.

I have a lot of trans thoughts about Hickey because my deadname is the feminine version of Cornelius. He chose the name I got rid of! And no one ever finds out his birth name! I'm not necessarily saying I headcanon him as trans but it's definitely adding to why I like him.

I just got to episode 8 of the terror so Hickey is literally this guys Colonel Ives.

He's titled E.C. and all I can think is that the C stand for Colqhoun. Is this the brother of F.W. Colqhoun!? Both characters really play crazy well and also strategic manipulation. I swear they could be brothers.

I don't really get what people see in Hickey! What's so appealing about him?

For me, personally, I find his "imagine-your-own-backstory" nature to be fun, as the ambiguity of who E.C is gives a lot of wiggle room- I'm sure that if you ask ten Hickey fans, you'd get eleven answers, haha. I think he invites a lot of speculation!

the terror script has so many little details in it. recent example i just noticed:

crozier says his line about a ship being a confessor, and then he "...shuts the cubby. When he does, he does *not* see a small set of freshly carved initials in the corner of the lid: 'E.C.' Someone's done this recently."

the ship is hickey's confessor just as much as it is crozier's. oughh
