is it just me, or is wilson fisk not knowing sign language kind of ooc??
i mean, look at all of the languages he knew in the original daredevil series
you mean to tell me that he had a deaf person in his life, and didn’t bother to learn?
edit for my awful spelling!

Hey, here’s a question: could Maya actually hear what Wilson was saying when she was in his head? Since she seemed to be responding to what he was saying in sign still, and she didn’t have that translating device inside his head, since you know, she was inside his mind.
i think that yes, it's very likely that she could understand everything in his head. I mean it's magic so it defies reality and whatnot.
Like his thoughts translated into her thoughts as well, like the information there went to hers and her brain just translated it for her.
so yup, I think she deffo did understand him.

Echo season 1 spoilers
I absolutely love this show! The first episode already have an amazing fighting sequence between Maya and Daredevil and the camera movements and dynamicity of it is stunning.
It’s good that they are reaching out to the people they are representing to have accuracy in their portrayal so having those credits for de Choctaw community of Oklahoma at the end is really important.
One thing that made me have a bit of a bad feeling despite this though, is the image of the blue glowing body of water that is too close to the depiction of the forbidden lake in Kahhori’s episode in ‘What if’ for my comfort. Maybe it’s an integral part of the culture that they couldn’t change. I admit that I have zero knowledge of the culture of both Mohawk and Choctaw but I think that ignorant people that don’t care at all would use anything to just put them both in the same pot and say ‘it’s all the same thing’ when it’s not. And it’s important to point out that they are both Native American groups but they are indeed different. Maybe if they could just change the color the water glow in it could be more in your nose, you know. Or maybe I’m just me being a bit paranoid about it.
It’s lovely how everyone from Maya’s family just communicate with her using sign language and barely even whispering because when it’s just them and Maya there isn’t any reason to really speak out loud. The fact that Maya points out that Fisk couldn’t be bothered to learn to properly communicate with her is cool and a nice touch, but it just seem like an afterthought of the production considering that we see him signaling with Maya in the Hawkeye series. It looks like an error in continuity in a way.
But I absolutely loved the way they sometimes just didn’t put any sound or just left the heartbeats as the sound of the scene because we are seeing this from Maya’s perspective and it’s just… it hits different.
Having Maya reconnecting with her family and her roots and getting the powers that come from this connection with her origins, her ancestrals is amazing and I can’t wait to see more of her in the future.
