THIS! Characters like the Baseball guy make NO SENSE. They have access to libraries and whatnot. They would know it’s bullshit. Also the chicken fucker in the show should not exist in NCR land.

Related to this post about the Kings, when I say that I want Wastelanders to be weirder, I don’t mean in the Howard/Pagliarulo/Esda mode where wastelanders are cartoon freaks for the audience to gawk and laugh at. Hardly any “wastelanders” in either Fallout 4 or the TV show feel like real people who could exist outside of the immediate scene where they are the butt of the joke. Look at this guy, he fucks chickens, isn’t that weird? Look at that guy, he thinks baseball was a blood sport, isn’t that weird? Look at this guy, he loves American history but he’s wrong about it, isn’t that weird? You point and laugh at the dumb freak and move on.

Contrast that with some of the (non-Wild Wasteland) weirdos in New Vegas. Malcolm Holmes is “weird”, but his character tells you that adventuring and scavenging are (albeit dangerous) ways to make a living in the Mojave; meeting him also starts a side quest for you. Oliver Swanick is “weird”, but his presence immediately tells you that something is very, very wrong, heralding one of the most horrifying scenes in the game. Hell, even Benny has a reason to talk like that - he’s being paid to! They all feel like a part of a larger world.

All this to say, I guess, is that I want to know more about the Preston Garvey impersonator. What’s his deal? What’s his goal?

D&D 5e PC free to a good home: Human Bard, Variant Human build wherein they start with a Feat. The Feat is Magic Initiate into the Warlock class. They got it because they defeated a Devil in a crossroads fiddle duel and, when they refused the golden fiddle prize, knowing it to be a trap, the Devil laughed and offered them a straightforward deal instead: three wishes, with a teaser sample of 2 cantrips + a 1 use/day petty spell, and after the fulfillment of the third wish, their soul will come directly to Hell.

The Bard agreed - they're fine so long as they never use the third wish, right? Heck, they'll just never use any of the wishes, and they can escape this very dangerous conversation with a little magical boost and a great story to tell.

How you play them is entirely up to you, except know that 3 times, you can call upon this Devil for a wish...which will manifest, mechanically, as taking a level in Warlock. For the third wish, they will give you that same golden fiddle, which will act as a Pact of the Blade Pact Weapon, mechanically modified to function primarily as a spellcasting focus rather than a literal weapon.

Your relationship with the Devil is also up to you and the DM. Personally, I'd go for slowburn romance with a College of Creation Bard, to really fascinate a properly Lucifer-coded Devil, fulfilling the final term of the deal by straight-up moving to Hell with your new sugar mommy (after defeating the Big Bad of the campaign, which is what you needed the third wish for). Or the Devil could be the Big Bad of the campaign! Or you can never make a wish and multiclass into Warlock, if you're very strong of will! It's your story to tell.

Originally a performer from New Reno, Queen now resides on the outskirts of New Vegas, with The Kings- after life on The Strip turned foul.

It seems she has had a hard time settling down in the past, probably because of her affinity for a good revenge plot. Never let it be said that The Queen can't hold a grudge.

So I didn't actually get any requests for these specific characters that I can remember, but I had this in my WIPs folder, and had a good time looking back on them, so here they are!

Noticed when you first talk to hancock in the statehouse and asking about him, goodneighbor, the institute etc he constsntly directs the conversation back to you. Even saying "enough about me, what about your needs?"

Makes me wonder 2 things:

Either anytime someone visits him, its a need, hes the mayor, and clearly is trying to help his people best he could, whether its food, caps, chems, you name it. So he assumes if youre there visiting him, you just need something from him. Nevermind how youre trying to know him better, or get some information or just talk to him.

OR

Hes absolutely enamored by you and looking for any way to help you out, wants to learn more, figure you out, etc etc.

I could see both working in this case too?

Also, this probably just a gameplay tactic to redirect the conversation since most npcs will do that but i like to pretend things sre purposeful 😤
