TITLE: Until Darkness Descends
FANDOM: Final Fantasy XV
PAIRING: Ardyn Izunia x Reader
RATING: Explicit
CHAPTER: 16
He wrapped his toned arms around your waist. Your body welcomed him so completely, gushing liquid arousal every time he filled you to the brim. Lust crazed words escaped his mouth, whispers of how sexy he thought you were greeted your ears. The dark rasp of Ardyn's voice drove you on, making you rock your hips harder and forcing him even deeper inside you.
Oblivion was close at hand. He could hear it calling his name with the promise of sweet release. Grabbing two fistfuls of your backside, he squeezed hard, forcing your ass to slam harder against his lap. His name was on your lips and he needed to hear more, hear you admit to belonging to no one else but him. “Who do you belong to?” Ardyn rasped.
“You.” You said without hesitation like the good girl you are.
Ardyn cracked his hand across your ass. “Say it again.” He demanded, his voice rough with desire. He began to meet your bouncing hips with his own thrusts. He was racing towards the precipice of release faster and faster, his muscles clenched, his toes curled, and the overwhelming ripples scoring his senses became even more intense. Ardyn slapped your ass again and chuckled when you tightened in response.
“You!” You shouted. He smacked your backside once more, even harder this time. His hand sizzled with an unrelenting sting.
He growled, “again.” He repeatedly slapped your ass. He didn't stop until fire licked both his palm and your skin. The double assault of pleasure and pain seemed to make you wilder. Your nails scored Ardyn's shoulders, a lusty sob met his ears, and you shoved his cock even deeper inside you.
“Oh fuck! You, I belong to you!” You cried.
“Good girl.” Ardyn cooed before bringing his thumb to your clit.
You rode him harder, faster, your movements losing their graceful rhythm. He aided your descent into delirium, building you up higher and higher, forcing you to that cliff's edge. “Ooh fuck! Ardyn, I'm gonna…!”
He captured your lips in a final, searing kiss. His long fingers continued to work your hungry clit and his length greedily devoured your pleasure. “That's it, my love. Cum for me, cum all over my cock.” Ardyn ordered.
As if on command you immediately fell apart, head tipped back, mouth contorted in a perfect 'o', and body convulsing as though struck by lightning. A deluge of clear liquid gushed from your stuffed entrance. You were like a small fountain, droplets sprayed from her body, landing on your stomach and showering Ardyn's abdomen. Rivulets ran down your thighs. The musky feminine scent of your release was thick in the air and made Ardyn dizzy with it.
His thrusts were getting faster, harder, losing focus. That ball of tension was getting smaller and smaller, tighter, and tighter. He stuffed himself as deep as he could inside of you. That fog in his brain was getting thicker and heavier, he was deaf to the punishing slam of his hips against your thighs. His cock pulsed and throbbed, the end was near, he could feel it tugging at his gut, taste its sweetness in mouth, and feel it ripple across his length. A flash white burned his eyes and he came crashing down with a howl.
Powerful arms crushed you against his chest as he painted your insides white. You both dropped onto the mattress in a tangle of sweaty limbs and panting breaths. His left hand was in your sweat drenched hair and his right was hooked over your waist. Your breath tickled his chest as you both laid there in silence.
Eventually, your labored breaths evened out and Ardyn looked down to find you curled up in his arms, fast asleep. He was still sheathed inside of you and his release slid down his softening member.
Once the remnants of his lust dissipated, he was slammed head first into a wall of dread. Reality hurled at him at all sides, bombarding him with a myriad of questions he had no answer to. He made a huge mistake, possibly the biggest one he had ever made in his life. Like an impulsive fool he lost control, this time he was not sure if he could bend it to his favor. He wasn't supposed to follow you home, he wasn't supposed to feel anything when he saw you with Gladiolus, and he most certainly wasnt supposed to fuck you and pretend you were his wife.
He slid a weary hand down the side of his face. When did Ardyn become so disorderly, so impulsive? He was never a slave to his whims and urges, what was becoming of him? What are you doing to him? Ardyn slowly slid from underneath you, the cool night air shocked his flaccid member that was still drenched in the result of your coupling.
Sighing, he took in the disaster before him. Welts and bruises decorated your skin, your lips were kiss swollen, and stains from both of your releases covered your bedding. Fuck. Ardyn gritted his teeth, spider webs of black ink branched across his skin, the discordant voices of the scourge ringed in his ears. You threaten everything. If this goes any further Ardyn risks losing his powers and he'll never be able to fight the chosen king.
Ardyn clicked his tongue. He would rather rot away in that wretched cell again than allow you to strip him of his only chance at revenge. He had the mind to begin phase two of his plans already, spirit you away to Gralae and break your spirit so the gods won't be able to use you anymore. But that may complicate his primary plans with the prince. The man sucked his teeth and grabbed his pants from off the floor.
No, he couldn't risk acting too hastily. Listening to his foolish impulses is what landed him in this mess to begin with. He shoved his legs into his pants and made it a point to not look at you. But the moment your musky feminine scent drifted towards his nose, he was suddenly reminded of the beautiful sounds you made while he was inside of you, the way you gripped him with your silky walls, and cried out his name in the same way his beloved used to.
Ardyn scowled, you were a dangerous weapon and he needed to start seeing you as such. Referring to you as a replica, a puppet, a tool in his mind was not enough if his emotions did not reflect the same indifference. He needed to become impervious to your charms, to everything about you that reminded him of his late wife. If he cannot then that would be the end of his quest. He would fall at the hands of his brother's descendant and be lost to the world forever.
He gave your sleeping form a fleeting glance. The plan requires that he seduce you eventually but he can't fall in love with you. Tossing on his shirt, he gathered the rest of his clothes in his arms. Perhaps some time apart would do him some good, remind him of your true nature, and help him put his goals back into perspective. The last few years made him grow soft towards you, this only happened because he refused to acknowledge the holes in his mental defenses.
Two years should be enough to harden his heart against you, to remind him of what you are and what you are not. He will keep an eye on you from a distance, but he won't interact, not until the day comes to put his primary plans with the chosen king into action. He can't risk any hiccups with you until then. But before he went, Ardyn needed to do something about all of this evidence first. It wouldn't do his plans for you any good if you recall that tonight actually happened, after all.

Dearest Heart (Ravus x Reader)
Tumblr media
COME ONE COME ALL TO SOME RAVUS FLANGST BROUGHT TO YOU BY A LAMEASS (me) AS REQUESTED BY @aeciru !!!!!!
From the prompt list:
#8: “I don’t need you anymore.”
#20: “Please don’t hurt me like this.”
#59: “You own my heart.”
I did all aforementioned prompts despite having the option to choose just one because there just isn’t enough love for Ravus ok!!!!! I took the liberty to adjust the prompts accordingly to fit with the dialogue though.
ALSO. BOY OH BOY WAS WRITING THIS A CHALLENGE. Ravus and Luna speak in a really eloquent and flowery manner, so I did my best apply such a style and drop contractions here and there whenever I saw fit. I went back and forth with several sections here just to beef up the story and make the relationship and history with Rea more developed and fluid. (((((idk why but i felt pressured to do our boye real good)))))) (i hope i delivered)
(keeping just ravus in character is hard okkkkk)
Speaking of!!!! I read that smol Ravus was actually really nice and kind, so I wrote him as such in the beginning. He becomes the Giant Angst Bean™ that we all know and love later on.
Title was inspired by @birdsandivory who often tags posts relating to their s/o as “dearest heart.” I thought it was the most DARLING thing ever, so I hope you don’t mind that I took that as inspiration!!
Tagging @thatoneawkwardfanthing and @lokewight who asked to be tagged!
i hope you all enjoy this ; w ;
word count: 5.3k+ words, fluff and angst, soft Ravus and hard Ravus (not sexual ok), spoilers for Kingsglaive
Growing up within the walls of House Nox Fleuret was a privilege that not many were privy to. Luckily for you, your family maintained close ties to the royal family of Tenebrae, thus granting you access to the more personal side of the Nox Fleuret family.
Though you were shy, your parents insisted that you befriend the Nox Fleuret siblings as a show of goodwill. Something about “maintaining peace,” or whatever it was the adults often talked about.
When you were first brought to Tenebrae to meet the nation’s royal family, you were in awe of the region’s majestic architecture — was that an actual castle? — and its signature blue flora, the sylleblossom. Fenestala Manor blew you away in particular, so you were all the more enlivened when your parents explained that this would be your new living quarters.
It was a long time coming, your move to the Manor. After all, you were being groomed to become the Royal Advisor to rising generation of Nox Fleurets.
Upon your arrival at the Manor, Queen Sylva had greeted you personally with the warmest of receptions. She even offered you a brief hug after you clumsily bowed before her. The queen’s friendliness took you aback, but it made you feel all fuzzy on the inside. She was nice.
With Queen Sylva were her two children, a boy and a girl. The female of the two siblings gravitated towards you naturally. She called herself Lunafreya, and she had the sweetest eyes and kindest smile. You regarded her with awe of her beauty.
“This is my brother, Ravus,” Lunafreya introduced as she gestured for you to step closer towards her sibling.
“Welcome to Tenebrae,” Ravus greeted with a friendly smile. “I do hope you enjoy your stay here.”
The different hues in Ravus’ eyes helped you maintain eye contact with him. “H-Hello,” you mumbled timidly. “I’m (Name).”
“What a lovely name!” Lunafreya clapped her hands excitedly as she looked to Ravus. “Wouldn’t you agree, Brother?”
Ravus nodded. “Indeed it is.”
You immediately blushed under their compliments. “Thank you,” you managed to let out, feeling the last of your discomfort crawl away from your skin. These two were good people, you could tell. Even though they were royalty, they welcomed you into their home — into their lives — with open arms.
That was the start of your allegiance to the royal family of Tenebrae.
*
“Princess,” you called. “It’s time for your lessons.”
“Oh (Name),” Lunafreya hummed from her bedroom. “Can’t we skip for once? Please?”
It had been several years since your life had first become interwoven with that of House Nox Fleuret’s. Since your initial meeting, you had only grown closer to both Lunafreya and Ravus at varying degrees.
Lunafreya was almost always attached to your hip. If she wasn’t busy with her duties, she was accompanied by Gentiana. Otherwise, she was often around you. You had come to love her like a sister and would do anything to keep that divine smile on her face.
On the other hand, you had also forged a very formidable friendship with the elder Nox Fleuret. You were closer to Ravus in age, so naturally, the two of you found a lot of things in common. In the years you had spent getting to know him, you had come to realize that Ravus was very much like his mother.
Unbelievably kind.
Incredibly accommodating.
So, so warm.
You were honored that Ravus felt safe enough around you to let his guard down and not just be himself, but also show his softer side to you.
You wanted to think that you were at least somewhat special to him in that regard.
These days, you weren’t sure what to make of the butterflies that went wild in your tummy whenever you were around Ravus, but spending time with him always made you giddy and caused your heart to race. It was hard not to smile in his presence.
“Your mother would have my head if I allowed another absence, Princess.”
“She would not!” the young blonde retorted as she fixed her fringe in place. “Mother is much too nice for such barbaric extremes.”
“Perhaps not,” you replied, a teasing smile sneaking its way onto your face, “but if Her Highness won’t have my head, then it will be your brother who may scold me if I continue to be soft on you.”
“That won’t happen,” Lunafreya assured you, a knowing smirk on her otherwise delicate face. “Ravus adores you.”
You immediately flushed at her statement. “H-He…! He does not!”
“Oh, but he does. In fact, Ravus-”
“Are you speaking ill of me again, dearest sister?” Ravus’ voice interrupted from the doorway.
You spun around to face him, feeling embarrassed that he had nearly caught onto what his sister had been insinuating. “My Prince!” You bowed before him, trying to keep the warmth in your cheeks at bay.
“At ease,” he said, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder to set you upright again. “How many times must I insist that ‘Ravus’ is enough?”
“My apologies.”
“And how many times must I defend my honor in front of you, brother dearest?” Lunafreya challenged teasingly, staring indignantly at her older sibling with her hands on her hips. “When have I ever spoken ill of you?”
“If we count all the instances,” he said, “then you will most surely miss your lessons, and we cannot allow that, now can we?”
Ravus glanced at you then, his dual-colored eyes holding a playful glint. You took this as a sign to usher your charge out the door and off to her obligations.
“I-Indeed, we cannot!”
Lunafreya threw her hands up in the air, exasperated. “Ah, I can only take so much when the two of you bully me together! Off I go, then.”
“We-! We weren’t bullying you, Lady Luna-” Your impending apology was cut short with the realization that Lunafreya had already left. Flustered, you turned to Ravus and asked, “She’s not… She’s not angry with me, is she?”
Ravus chuckled, waving his hand to dismiss your fears. “Fret not, dear (Name). My sister merely jests.”
You let out a sigh of relief. “Lady Lunafreya will be the death of me one of these days.”
“As she will be for me, as well.”
His reply caused a few giggles to escape your lips. Once your small bout of laughter tapered, you found Ravus to be looking at you with what appeared to be fondness in his eyes. His gaze made you blush, so you opted to break the silence by bringing the attention back to him.
“So how may I be of service of you today, my Prince?” you asked, returning to your well-mannered front.
Ravus sighed at your ignorance of his name yet again. “Yes, I’ve come to you in need of a favor, actually.”
“Oh? A favor?” You looked at him questioningly, your curiosity piqued. “I will do my best to be of assistance to you, my-”
“Ravus,” he repeated sternly, though his eyes remained tender. “When we are in private, kindly refer to me by my name.”
‘I take it back,’ you thought, feeling your cheeks burn all the more thanks to Ravus’ sweet plea. ‘It is the prince who will be the death of me, not the princess.’
“R-Ravus,” you tested, feeling lighter at the sight of elation on the prince’s face upon the utterance of his name from your mouth.
“Much better.”
You had to keep it together to stop yourself from swooning at his dazzling smile. At the age of 15, Ravus had grown well into his body, and by the looks of it, he would only continue to grow as the years go by. His face had matured some from the time when you first met as children, and while his features sharpened, his kindness had not wavered.
Especially not around you.
“U-Um… Ravus. Ahem. What is this favor you speak of?”
“You have heard of the upcoming ball, have you not?”
“Ah, yes.” You nodded, thinking back on the invitations you had glossed over just a few days prior. “The one celebrating our nation, correct?”
“That is the one. May I ask if you will be preoccupied then?”
You did a mental scan of your duties and responsibilities leading up to the ball. “I may need to assist Lady Lunafreya,” you answered, “but otherwise, I will be present at the sidelines in the event that my aid is needed for the remainder of the night.”
“I don’t suppose you would like to attend as a guest of the family?” Ravus quietly proposed.
Your brows furrowed. What need of Ravus required you to attend as a guest of House Nox Fleuret? You would already be present at the ball anyhow, so the invitation seemed odd as it was rather unnecessary.
Regardless, attending as a guest of House Nox Fleuret meant that the festivities would at least be a little more entertaining, what with the company of Lunafreya and Ravus making everything a little more enjoyable.
It also meant that you would by their side for most of the night, and that alone seemed more appealing than having to lurk in the shadows by yourself.
“That is a very generous offer, my- Ravus.” You winced at how your correction made it sound like you had referred to the prince as ‘yours,’ but you trudged on, hoping he hadn’t taken notice of your slip up. “I would be honored to-”
You were stopped by Ravus clearing his throat. “I’m afraid I failed to clarify.” Dusting off imaginary dirt from his sleeve, he added, “Would you be willing to attend the ball as my guest?”
You blinked up at him, caught off guard at the offer. “A-As…? As your…?”
He huffed a little uncharacteristically. “As my date.”
“Ah.”
An awkward silence enveloped the room. On your part, you were unsure as to how to respond to Ravus’ request. While there was no denying that you would be more than happy to accompany him to the ball — as his date, no less — when it came right down to it, you were torn between your personal sentiments towards the prince and what was expected of you as his Royal Advisor.
Perhaps it was because you were in your teenage years — being just a year younger than Ravus — but it was quite evident to you that you had begun to develop some feelings for your charge. It was a bit of a pickle for you, because it became a challenge having to keep your feelings at bay without crossing the line of what was considered proper.
Though your relationship with the Nox Fleuret family was definitely friendly and familiar, it was still encased in decorum and your respective obligations not just to each other, but to the nation of Tenebrae as well.
Thus, Ravus’ proposal practically blindsided you. You weren’t so naive as to presume he harbored some sort of romantic feelings for you as well, but you could hope, couldn’t you? He wasn’t required to bring a date to the ball; you knew, because you helped piece the occasion together. So what was he doing here, asking you of all people to come with him?
Your nerves and apprehension over how to approach Ravus’ offer must have shown on your face, as he immediately backtracked, saying, “You are not obligated to accept, of course.” Was he worried that you would only say yes because you thought you had to? “I am well aware that such gatherings are not to your taste. Thus, my request may be more of a nuisance than anything, so-”
“Yes.”
Ravus’ rambling came to a halt. “I… beg your pardon?”
“Yes, Ravus.” You gave him a bright smile, hoping it would convey enough of your feelings for him to understand. “I would be delighted to accompany you to the ball, if it won’t be too much trouble for you.”
His shoulders practically sagged in utmost relief. “No, never,” he said as a small smile began to bloom on his face. “You are not an inconvenience in the slightest.”
“So…” You looked away, feeling bashful over the how things had unfolded. “I shall see you then, my Prince?”
“You do me the greatest honor.” Ravus reached out to you and delicately grasped your hand in order to lay a soft kiss on it. “I shall see you then, my (Name).”
“Ex-Excuse me?” you blubbered, feeling your cheeks grow even warmer. “Your (Name)?”
“It’s only fair, is it not?” he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice. “I am your Ravus, and so in return, you are my (Name).”
“Th-That’s-!”
“I shall see you at the ball, dearest heart. Good day.”
And with that, Ravus not only left you a flustered mess, he took with him the rest of your heart as well.
You didn’t really mind, though.
*
You often look back on that time with much fondness and love. The ball was boring as expected, but being by Ravus’ side for the entirety of the night made it much, much more tolerable. Lunafreya sending the two of you some smug smiles also made for some amusement that night.
Despite the fact that you came as Ravus’ date, neither of you initiated the step to further your friendship into a romance. Both of you merely skirted around your feelings, too shy to do anything beyond the confines of your personal and professional lives together.
Lunafreya often urged you to take the initiative and allow the love between you and her brother to prosper, but you always evaded her prodding. In spite of Lunafreya’s unabashed approval and support, you believed that you were in no position to present your feelings to Ravus and expect some sort of reciprocation in the form of a romantic relationship.
No, you wanted it to come from him. You were merely his advisor and a childhood friend at best. There was no way you were going to burden him with your feelings, not when you were unsure if this was what he really wanted with you. If he was not going to take the step forward, then you would adjust to his pace, as you have done all these years.
You were content with remaining by his side. Whether it be as his advisor, his friend, or his lover… so long as you were with him, then that was more than enough for you.
Things changed just a year later with the death of Queen Sylva and the imperial control of Niflheim over Tenebrae.
*
Now, years later, you still remain by Ravus’ side. Many things have since changed, such as Lunafreya’s appointment as the new Oracle, as well as Ravus’ new occupation under Niflheim’s invasion.
No longer was he the prince of Tenebrae. Now, he was known as Ravus Nox Fleuret, the High Commander of the Imperial Army.
You still referred to him as your prince, though. Ravus would merely ignore the title as if you had never said it in the first place.
After the death of Queen Sylva, Lunafreya had pleaded with you to place your focus on her brother rather than on herself. You had objected, arguing that both she and Ravus were your responsibility. However, the young girl proved to you just how mature she was beyond her years when she countered that Ravus needed you more than she did.
“There is only so much that I can do for him,” she had admitted to you tearfully. “But you… you are his heart. Please, (Name), I beg of you. Please do not leave my brother’s side.”
“Lady Lunafreya…” You had held onto her as she fell apart in your arms. Right then and there, you swore that you would remain steadfast in your devotion to Ravus regardless of what life would throw at you.
“I promise.”
If only it were so easy.
At present, the young boy you came to know and love was nonexistent in the Ravus that stood before you today. Gone were the warm smiles and gentle eyes, now replaced by hardened glares and permanent scowls.
The death of his mother had clearly changed Ravus. Though you held him close to your heart, you struggled to reach him beyond the icy walls he had put up around his own heart. Still, you stood by him and remained at his side amidst all the changes he went through.
“My Prince,” you murmured timidly, stepping into Ravus’ office. “Your sister requests your presence for supper.”
“Tell her to proceed with her meal,” replied Ravus from a pile of papers he had not looked up from.
“My Prince, if I may.” Shutting the door behind you, you made your way across the room and settled in front of his desk. “It’s been several days since you last shared a meal with Lady Lunafreya. She merely misses your company, and-”
“How many times must I tell you?” Ravus abruptly stood up and sent you a cold glare. Though you had become used to such painful gazes, you had to admit that they still pierced at your heart rather agonizingly. “I am no longer a prince, and you must address me accordingly by my new title instead.”
It was hard to keep your face neutral when the sadness in your heart overflowed for Ravus.
“My apologies, High Commander,” you muttered softly, offering a bow. “Old habits die hard, I suppose.”
“If only some would die easier than others,” you heard him grumble under his breath.
His harsh tone made you wince, but you did nothing to address his statement. Sending him an affirmative nod, you said, “I bid you a good evening, then, High Commander.”
Noticing your wounded look, Ravus softened his voice and called out to you almost apologetically. “Have you forgotten?” He combed a hand through his hair, which had grown much longer over the years. “I am Ravus to you in private.”
So there was still a bit of the old Ravus somewhere in there. The thought made you smile, albeit a bit sadly.
“Please don’t forget to eat something, Ravus.” Your eyes softened as they met his. “Feel free to summon me if my help is required.”
At that, you made yourself scarce, unaware of the look of longing in Ravus’ eyes as he stared after you.
*
Just a few hours later, Ravus had called for you once more, requesting for dinner. You delivered his meal to his office without a word, only to be stopped by him as he requested that you join him and have a bite as well.
“I’ve already eaten, Ravus.”
“Would you do me the honor of gracing me with your company, then?” He pulled out a chair for you, the hard strain in his eyes growing tender for a few moments.
Only you still got to see this side of Ravus. Only you could do this to him.
“It would be my pleasure.”
The two of you sat there in his office, basking in the quiet. Though no words were shared, the company you offered each other made for a fairly pleasant night.
*
When word of Lunafreya’s imminent union with Prince Noctis of Insomnia came to light, you grew worried. Not just for Lunafreya, but for Ravus as well. Ever since the death of his mother, he had come to loathe the Caelum line and, in effect, Noctis himself.
His bitterness and rage towards the Lucian royal family had consumed him over the years. You had seen firsthand how such dark thoughts and feelings had changed Ravus, so with the announcement of his sister’s engagement to the Crown Prince, you became distraught over how your own prince would handle the news.
One day, you noticed the younger Nox Fleuret carrying a suitcase as she made her way across Fenestala Manor. She appeared to be dressed for travel, prompting you to wonder what her intentions were. As far as you knew, Lunafreya had no meetings scheduled for today. She made no mention of going out, either.
With your brows furrowed, you caught up to her and asked, “Princess, where are you off to?”
“(Name)!” she squeaked in surprise. “I am in need of your help, kind (Name). Please, allow me to leave as I must speak to King Regis immediately!”
“King Regis…?” you repeated, trying to process the growing urgency on her face. “Is this about your engagement to Prince Noctis?”
“It is more than that.” Lunafreya nodded, taking ahold of your hand. “Please, (Name), I must make my way to Insomnia as soon as possible. Will you assist me?”
Your mind scrambled to sort out your thoughts. “I… I cannot, my Princess,” you informed her regretfully, feeling a pang at the frown that took residence on her face. “But it is only because I swore that I would remain by your brother’s side. You remember, do you not?”
“Of course I do. I am eternally grateful for your honor and devotion to Ravus.”
You bit your lip, sending a prayer to the gods above that all would work well. “Still, I cannot simply abandon you in your time of need.” You pulled her to the side and stealthily made your way to the lower floors of the manor. “I may not be able to escort you to Lucis, but I can at least ensure that you find your way out of Tenebrae.”
Lunafreya’s expression brightened at your words. “Thank you, (Name). I owe you.”
“You owe me nothing. Now come, we must make haste.”
Both you and Lunafreya had evaded the imperial guards that monitored the hallways of the manor. Just as you were nearly at the door, the two of you were stopped by none other than Ravus himself.
Snatching Lunafreya from your grasp, he dragged her towards a nearby room, but not before sending you a scathing look.
“And you,” he snarled, “I will have a word with you once I have settled things with my sister.”
The dread that churned at the pit of your stomach almost hurt as more as the pain in your heart due to Ravus’ anger directed towards you.
*
“What were you thinking?!” he barked, slamming the door of his office.
You opted to create a small distance between you and Ravus, growing cautious of his boiling rage. Drawing closer to his desk, you answered, “I merely offered my assistance where it was needed, Ravus. It is as I have done for you and your family all these years.”
Ravus sneered at your response. “Were you foolish enough to allow Lunafreya into the clutches of our mother’s murderer?”
The neutral mask you wore began to crumble with the beginnings of a frown. “Ravus, I understand that you blame King Regis for the death of our queen, but-”
“Understand? You think you understand?”
This was the first time you had ever truly been on the receiving end of Ravus’ fury. It wounded you deeply, causing you to wither away at his spiteful voice. His build, which had grown sturdier even more, now felt menacing as he towered over you.
Still, you reminded yourself of your promise to Lunafreya, no matter how much Ravus was now hurting you.
“You think you understand what my sister and I have been through?” he continued with a scoff. “Are you so stupid to believe that you are so special simply due to our history together?”
Your eyes began to water by then, but you remained rooted in your spot. “I-I…”
“If that is what you believe,” he snapped, “then you are much more idiotic than I thought you to be.”
This time, you flinched. You kept your head bowed in order to hide the steady stream of tears that rolled down your face. “R-Ravus, please…” you hiccuped, “I know you are hurting, but please…”
“YOU KNOW NOTHING!”
A sob threatened to escape your throat, but you slapped a hand over your mouth to keep it in. “Please,” you whimpered pathetically, “do not hurt me like this, Ravus.”
Your plea seemed to have fallen on deaf ears, for Ravus broke you down even further with one simple but cruel statement.
“I do not need you any longer.”
“Wh-What?”
“You are hereby dismissed of your duties,” he continued, voice devoid of emotion. “Until a more suitable role for you can be found, you will remain at the manor for the time being.”
You were openly weeping by now. “Ravus, you cannot mean this.”
“I do,” he retaliated coldly. “Now get out.”
You lifted your pain-stricken gaze, only to pull away the moment your eyes met Ravus’ seething glare. Where was the Ravus you loved? This wasn’t him. The Ravus you loved wouldn’t hurt you so brutally without any heed to your sensitive emotions. The Ravus you loved wouldn’t strip you of the one thing that gave your life meaning throughout the years.
What were you to do now, if you could not remain by his side?
Sniffling, you shuffled your way towards the doorway where Ravus stood. You lowered your head once more as you bumped against him. But, before taking your leave, you offered some parting words to Ravus that would haunt him forevermore.
“You… You will always be my heart, dear Ravus. I pray that you find peace and happiness.”
*
In the days leading to Lunafreya’s escort to Lucis, you steered clear of both her and Ravus. Ultimately, you were no longer bound to them, at least by Ravus’ words.
‘I have failed you, my Princess,’ you thought glumly, looking up at the night sky. ‘How can I remain by your brother’s side if he no longer wants me there?’
Soon, Fenestala Manor grew quiet with the departure of the remaining Nox Fleurets as they traversed to Insomnia. It didn’t take long before news of the nation’s fall reached your region, causing you to plunge into a pit of despair as the tragedy sent a blow to your very core.
King Regis, dead. Even the sweet Prince Noctis was said to have passed on. But what truly broke you was the news that your dearest Lunafreya was gone as well.
Maria, who had remained in your company the past few days, could do little to console you as you drowned in your hysteria. This couldn’t be true. You refused to believe it. No, Lunafreya was still alive. She had to be.
And what of Ravus? Where was he now? Had he fallen amidst Niflheim’s betrayal as well?
You didn’t know what to do with yourself.
‘Please,’ you begged to the heavens above, ‘please, keep them safe. They’re all I have.’
*
Some of your worries had been eased at the return of Ravus. Though he retained his cold demeanor, he brought with him a new prosthetic — one that you couldn’t help but marvel at as you stood before him in his office yet again.
Though news of his arrival had reached you, you had forced yourself to remain at your quarters and not seek him out. With the memory of your last conversation still painfully fresh, you chose not to look for Ravus, providing him the space and privacy he had forcefully set between the two of you.
Your efforts were put to rest when Ravus himself summoned you. Here you now were, avoiding his gaze as you fidgeted nervously in front of him.
The silence was incredibly overbearing, but you feared that if you spoke, he would only lash out at you again. Thus, you kept mum, giving Ravus the floor to voice his thoughts, whatever they may be.
At first, he sighed. Then, with a few careful steps, he approached you. Raising a hand — from his flesh limb, notably — he caressed the side of your cheek in a motion so affectionate, you had to question if this was really the same Ravus you had last perceived before the blatant dismissal of your obligations to him.
“You appear well,” he commented softly, his hand leaving your face.
You couldn’t help but long for his touch. Still, all you could do was nod, feeling as if your voice and words would merely betray you if you tried to speak.
“I…” You could hear his fists clench. “Will you look at me? Please?”
At this, you lifted your gaze to meet his eyes. Based on the memory of your last meeting, you had expected to see bitter rage in his stare. You were proven wrong, however, as you found nothing but throbbing emotion looking back at you.
There it was. The same fondness he used to look at you with. The same tenderness and affection his dual-colored eyes had always revered you in.
There was also one other thing you found in his soft gaze, but you dared not voice your thoughts in fear that you were simply dreaming.
In his eyes, you found love.
“I am sorry.” His voice broke. The last time you were a witness to Ravus’ tears was shortly after the death of his mother. Now, such waterworks were making a return, though you found it hard to fathom that these tears were due to his own grieving for you.
“I was wrong,” Ravus went on, reaching out to you but stopping short, as if he was afraid you would reject him. You eased his fears by meeting him halfway, reaching up on your heels to hold his face in your hands. “I do need you, (Name). I will always need you.”
His hands enveloped yours as you both cried for each other. “Ravus…”
“I meant none of it. Not a single word I had uttered that day held any truth. Please, believe me.”
“I know, Ravus,” you sobbed. “I know.”
You don’t know what it was that had happened to him in Insomnia to cause this sudden turnaround in Ravus, but you weren’t going to question it. All that mattered was that he was here now, with you.
“I realize now that it was I who was the foolish one. It was always me. Never, ever you.” This large man, whose mere presence held a threatening aura towards his foes, was now a snivelling mess in your hands. “I beg for your forgiveness.”
“There is nothing to forgive,” you assured him tenderly, wiping away the tears that had leaked during your exchange of words. “I am relieved that you, too, are well.”
“I will never forgive myself for hurting you that day,” he admitted, pulling you closer. You felt your lip quiver as you recalled the relentless words he had directed to you back then.
You shook your head, trying to rid yourself of such memories. “None of that,” you told both Ravus and yourself. “What matters is that you are here now.”
“There is so much that has been lost, but I will not allow you to be lost to me as well. Not anymore.” He paused for a bit, moving his grasp from your hands to your face, albeit hesitantly. “What you said then, did you mean it?”
“Mean what?”
“You… You own my heart, (Name),” he confessed at last, leaning his forehead on yours. “I would like to know if your sentiments remain the same, though I know I am undeserving of them.”
A sweet smile began to surface amidst your tears. Carefully bringing your face closer to his, you whispered against his lips, “You are my dearest heart, Ravus, as you have been and always will be. Nothing will change that.”
What lay ahead seemed bleak, what with Niflheim’s rise and the still unknown whereabouts of Lunafreya. But, as you remained glued to Ravus, your mouth locked with his in a passionate exchange, all you could do was melt into him and allow your feelings of love to come undone once and for all.
Come what may, you would remain by his side until the very end. What made it easier this time around was the knowledge that he would do the same for you.
At the end of the day, it was just as Lunafreya had told you all those years ago. You were his heart, just as he was yours.

Gladiolus x Fem!Kingsglaive!Reader
DESCRIPTION: You are a tired Glaive with a thin patience for dating, noise, and crowded spaces-- After just getting your heart broken once again, you decide to sail alone in the sea of singleness. However, when being caught filtering in and out of a high security area where you do not belong, you find yourself in a pickle that is too hard to explain… and the problem itself has pretty amber eyes and rippling pectorals.
Authors Note: Hello Anon! I am so sorry this took FOREVER for me to write. (And when I mean forever— I mean FOREVER) I am sure you moved on by now and left this fandom in your rear view mirror, but I will never leave a request unfulfilled— even if it becomes dusty within my request box. But I hope I can make up for the lengthy time gap by giving you a huge story in return. This is probably the longest fic I have written and published ever in my life! I hope I did your request justice, as well as Gladio! Enjoy!
With all this being said, I am now getting to the other request in my inbox! I am so sorry for the wait everyone. Just know I am doing my best to fulfill your requests! For the time being, lets bring on the Gladio love!! -Rosie
Warning: story does contain swearing. Read at your own risk. (Slow burn)

Tumblr media
The morning after a rough, emotionally tolling evening, always held a bit of a sting. When you woke, it was almost like you had forgotten everything that had occurred. Your eyes groggily drank in the cracked pattern of plaster on your ceiling, before trudging down to the split within your curtains. Sunlight fought to stream through the thick fabric, and managed only a bit, giving a small beam of golden light to your bedroom. You sighed, arm falling limply over your eyes in hopes to filter out the small victory the sun had against your curtains. Your alarm hadn't gone off yet, and you had no intentions of getting up any earlier then you already had to.
Motionless you laid, waiting for your body to lull back to sleep. However seconds seemed to drag on more like hours, and your mind began its menial task of compartmentalizing all you had to do for that day.
It wasn't until you finally gave in to your roused state, when everything began to set in again. Disappointment. Sheer and utter disappointment. Not to mention dread. With a heavy sigh, your arm that draped over your eyes shot up and grabbed your phone that rested on your nightstand; still connected to the charger. You were shocked— That even through your anguish, you still managed to put your phone on the hook. That was beside the point. You blinked away the haze within your eyes and read the time that sat in bold white letters against your lock screen. 7:30.
You shifted to sit up, back resting on the headboard of your bed. Unlocking your phone, you sifted through social media, text messages, old pictures, you even flittered through little time wasting games that somehow made it onto your phone. You did this, only to avoid the dating app that had started it all. The reason a crashing headache seemed to throb directly behind your eyes.
The gnawing voice in the back of your mind asked that you open it— Check to see if that guy left you a message. Check to see if he even read the one you had sent. However, the logical part of you itched to delete it, removing every last drop from the memory your phone carried. Inner turmoil raged within your foggy mind, and you sat there staring at the app as if it were the devil— coaxing you to do wrongfully. Your thumb came dangerously close to hitting the app in means of opening it— until your saving grace pulled you from the trance.
Your phone buzzed in your hand, a name splayed as a banner at the top of your screen. Prompto Argentium. Your good friend. You had met by pure happenstance in the Citadel, he was lost on his way to meet up with the Prince. One wrong turn had him treading through the opposite wing of the Citadel. Before he knew it he was nearing the Glaive briefing room, with confusion written across his freckled face. You were the one who found him, and kindly walked him to his destination.
It didn't take long for the two of you to become friends, and exchanged information to keep in touch.
With a shadow of a grin on your face, you answered the phone with a trite greeting.
"Hey you, How did the date go? I have been thinking about you all day. Please tell me it went well." Prompto's chipper voice seemed to do more damage then good; absentmindedly rubbing salt within your wounds.
"Terrible, to put it bluntly," You sighed, voice thick. You cleared it and pushed yourself to sit upward, elbows digging into your legs.
"Why? What happened? He sounded like he was it." Disappointment reflected in Prompto's voice, as if he felt just as broken up as you did. Well more like numb at this point.
"He stood me up. I sat at the restaraunt for an hour before giving up. Lets face it Prompto, romance is dead, and hookups are all the rage. No one wants genuine love—" You were silently waving your white flag in surrender to the gods. As if to beg them to stop adding insult upon injury. They won, and you were now fine with that.
"That is not true. It is out there. You just... gotta sift through the bad ones first." He sighed, "You aren't alone. I'm in the same boat. But just because that dude was a loser, doesn't mean all dudes suck."
You wanted to laugh, but swallowed the urge as you swung your feet to hover over the floor. "They do all suck."
"Hey!—"
"Well except you." You shrugged with a hint of a smile. "Look, I am not all bent out of shape about it. Just sucks is all. But I think I need a break from all of that. Its getting to be taxing on my mental health."
"Take care of yourself, girl! Forget about dudes. Tell ya what, maybe we should meet up for lunch. How does Tony's sound? All you can eat bacon—" Prompto was the king at advertising. And damn did bacon sound good.
"Breakfast for lunch— I am in."
****
That night, as you were walking through the halls of the Citadel, gym bag slung over your shoulder— You didn't allow your mind to argue your decision. You deleted the dreaded dating app, and locked your phone. The feeling that seemed to wash over you was strange. While part of you felt freed from the chains that the app held onto you— there was a note of disappointment. But you swallowed it quickly while reaching deep into your pocket and pulling out a small keycard.
You were far from where you truly belonged, edging towards the opposite side of the Citadel from where you usually worked, trained, and dwelt. It was known that there were designated training rooms for those within the Crownsguard, as well as the Royalty. It was also common knowledge that the individuals holding those high positions had keys to enter those rooms. You however, had an in.
As you neared the large gym doors, you glanced around the nearly vacant hallway. It stretched to the left and right of you for a good distance, before branching off to other smaller corridors. Luckily, they were all empty— The only sound came from your approaching feet and the hum from the air conditioning that rushed through metal plated grates near the ceiling. With a practiced, swift maneuver, you tapped the key onto the metal receiver. You were rewarded with a satisfying click, signifying your allowance into the locked room. The metal handle of the door snapped as you shoved it open.
Unlike the training room where the glaives all gathered, this one was nicer; more spacious, and air conditioned. To add the cherries on top— It was hardly used. And at 8:30 at night, it remained vacant. The gym was empty, aside for the equipment that was scattered across the wooden flooring. You were in the clear.
Like the past two weeks you had been visiting the Royal Training Room, you made a steady strut to the woman's locker room to change out of your uniform and into something with a bit more flexibility. However, when you approached the door, you were met with a sign. In black bold face letters it read: CLOSED FOR MATENENCE. "Of course," You sighed, head tilting in attempt to stretch the muscles that seemed to bunch up in your neck. There was no other choice but to retreat to the next locker room over— the men's. Not that it mattered of course, there was no one around. You were alone. You walked the few paces to your left and stepped through the door, sliding your heavy gym bag from off your shoulder.
You hardly looked up as you dumped your bag to the floor. But as soon as you did, you caught a flash of movement. Your gaze whipped from the tile to a large man, white towel clinging to the slight swell in his hips. Your eyes raked up the figure, starting at the calves and growing ever so slowly upward. The figure had a tattoo that stretched from his lower back, and painted his tanned skin all the way across his shoulder blades and bled towards his arms. The detailed ink made the shape of a bird and its wings… and could only be owned by none other then—
"Care to explain why you are here?" His gruff voice reverberated off the walls, and spiked the nervousness in your chest. The muscular man turned to look at you, a second towel clenched in his hand; sopping up the moisture from his soaked, dark brown hair. He seemed unbothered that you had walked in on him, post shower and half naked. However he held a scowl that could be written off as deadly— especially for someone who absolutely did not belong there at all. His thick eyebrow slowly climbed up his forehead, thick lips beginning to flatten into a displeasing line.
You caught yourself gawking and swallowed hard before whipping your head towards the floor. Crouching, you snagged the handles of your bag and threw it over your shoulder. "I am so sorry, I did not mean to intrude. The woman's—"
"I am well aware. I'm talking about in general." He was blunt, and shot straight to the point.
"Ah, I am not sure." You were in for it now. And to spoil all of the luck you had rushed in with the past few weeks— you were busted by the Sworn Shield of the Prince. "Again, my mistake, I will leave."
"No you won't. and don't act like you just stumbled in here. I am not an idiot."
Of course not, you wanted to say, there is a key to get in— "Look, It was my mistake. I will just go—"
"How did you get in here?" Gladiolus gruffly asked. You sighed and took two steps closer to the door; back turned to him to avoid his tempered gaze. At least what you imagined it was.
You had an insider's help— at least that was the honest answer. Were you prepared to give that answer? absolutely not. That would just be throwing Prompto under the bus. You swallowed thickly, bolstered up your bravery and straightened your back. Confidence, you've read in a psychology textbook, can sometimes work within your favor. "I'm afraid I cant share that information."
Gladio huffed, clicking his tongue. The towel he had been drying his hair with was thrown to the bench in front of him. "You best, or you will find yourself in a heap more trouble then you are already in. This training room is for authorized personnel only and as much as I admire the Glaive, you do not count."
The back handed, not really, but kind of a compliment made your heart swell. But only for a moment— It was pilfered rapidly by the growing nerves that continued to pulsate through your veins; even despite your desperate attempts to quell it by bolstering fake confidence. You bowed your head and took another side step to the door. "Yes, I know. I don't have ill intentions. I just like the peace and quiet. The Glaive training room is always crowded, loud and I hardly have space to work with. But like I said: I can't tell you anything. I am sorry again,"
Another step had you half way through the small juncture before the door. You were almost free. "You wait for me outside the locker room. We are not finished with this, and you are not leaving. This is serious."
Serious, he acted like using a gym was a grade A felony. But in fear of being hunted down by what everyone knew as one of the strongest men in the Citadel, you rather not take any chances. You gave him a subtle wave of your hand before finally leaving the locker room.
Part of you felt stupid for not running. He didn't catch your face, or at least to your knowledge— and he had no other information. If you made a break for it, then could he really come after you? You weighed out your options, feet nervously stuttering beneath you. Your foot moved towards the door, however as quickly as your mind changed its thinking; it cemented back in place. You balanced on this uncomfortable precipice for what felt like ever— until you made your decision: leave.
You unglued your heavy foot from off the ground, and took your first step towards freedom. But it ended quickly when the locker room door hinges squealed with dread. Instinctually, you whipped your head around. Gladio stood easily 6'6, rippling muscles cascaded up his thick biceps and continued throughout his upper half. The thin, tight, tank top that Gladio wore seemed to leave very little to the imagination. This man was built. And leaving probably meant your demise. But in the same regard— staying could mean the same as well. Again you swallowed the thickness in your throat and you turned fully to face the Shield. "Listen, Gladio. I don't really want trouble. I just came here looking for a peaceful work out. Sorry for barging in on you, and sorry for being here." Your words sounded more confident than you truly felt, which you supposed could be a good thing… after all, Psychology.
"I will ask again, and I want the real answer. How the hell did you get in here?" Did he just fully ignore you? You were growing tired of the constant questioning. Despite the welling of fear that pooled in your stomach, you flashed a cheeky smirk. You learned far more in your Psychology classes than you had ever thought.
"Maybe you shouldn't leave the door unlocked, it would save from all this trouble." You shrugged, head tilting to the automatic locking door. Reverse Psychology. Snark usually got you nowhere. That is what your mother always said in her usual strict, no nonsense tone. And she was always right on every account. But it didn't make it any less appealing to speak that way.
You were lucky to catch the cascading thoughts flooding through Gladio's mind. His amber eyes told the story well. It began with fear, back tracking through his past hour— then a sudden crash of realization-- then the final touch of sharpness when he picked up on your idiocy. "Enough of the games—"
"Like I said Gladio, It was great meeting you, but unfortunately this is beginning to bore me, and I have places to be this evening. Its been swell." You turned on your heels with a little bit of oomph, hair whipping to follow your wake. You trekked with a steady step towards the door.
"Hold it! I didn't even get your name!" he shouted, voice booming against the walls of the training room. You waited for him to grab you and detain you. Which he was more than capable of doing; considering you were in the wrong, committing crimes against the Citadel— even if they did seem insignificant. However that wasn't going to stop you from making a break for it.
You only tilted your head back to respond: "Sorry for being inconsiderate… As unfortunate as it sounds, I was never given a name."
"That's bullshit." His voice flickered away from the strict tone it usually carried. It cracked as if to show a bit of amusement. Were you amusing the Prince's Shield? You knew you were dead meat, and most likely were about to be in a long ass conference with the General, Marshal, and most likely the witness of your heinous crime. Boldness and confidence occasionally worked within your favor, and you were ready to gamble that.
"Says the guy with a name. Catch ya later!" You pushed hard at the gym doors, and quickly made your get away.

Can I please be left alone?
FFXV boys x gn reader
"My god, fucking finally" You say as you lean the front seat back with your legs crossed on the dashboard and close your eyes. It's been a while since you got the regalia to yourself without the boys being the most annoying thing to exist, expect for daemons. The car was parked perfectly under the shade with a nice breeze flowing through, honestly you could sit right here forever.
But, someone had to ruin it. You grimaced when you heard footsteps coming toward you. You pretended to sleep, relaxing your muscles, and slowing your breathing. The footsteps stop and you can feel the person's presence loom over you. "Y/N, why are you in my seat?".
Oh no, oh god no. You open your eyes slightly to see the blonde haired blue eyed gunslinger of the male quad staring down at you looking quiet sad.
"Did I do something wrong? You only sit up here when I make you mad" he softly asked.
You feel bad but then you remember, you all aren't going anywhere and that he hasn't been as obnoxious as Noctis. "No blondie, you haven't done anything wrong, I just wanted to sit up front alone for a bit" you start.
"I promise, when we set out on the road again, you'll get your seat back" comforting him, you mess with his hair. He crouches down to the sideview mirror fixing his hair, afterwards he smiles at you.
"Thank god, I really like it up here" he sighs in relief and stands back up.
"I know Prom, now if you will please? Let me rest, it's been a long week" you calmly ask with a small smile on your face.
"Oh yeah of course! See you Y/N! Love you" he yells while jogging away.
"Love you too!" You shout after. Finally, you close your eyes again. Maybe you can take a nap now.
But the clunking of someone else's shoes tells you that you probably can't.
You hear the back door open, shuffling, and small grunts. You decide to ignore and keep basking in the shade. Then a gruff voice catches your attention. "Where the hell did it go?" The voice says, sounding very annoyed. This continues for a couple more minutes before you get fed up.
"Who is there and what the hell are you looking for?" You asked angrily.
"Gladio and I can't find my book" he says and slams the door shut making you jump.
"I swear to the oracle if you don't stop being a whiny little baby I won't tell you where it could be" you snap at him.
"I'm not-! Fine where is it?"
"I would check inside the nightstand by Noctis' bed I keep catching him reading it"
"That son of a bitch! I told him not to touch it" Gladio curses.
"Please don't tell him I told you, he might warp me to the ocean" You ask getting chills.
"Yeah yeah sure whatever" he waves your request off stomping away.
"Love you too Mr.Mullet!" You yell after him. "Please Oracle Lunafreya, let me rest for 5 minutes in this comfortable seat not bothered by anyone else" you clasp your hands, pray and look at the clock, 2:38, okay you can do this.
It seems like the universe has a timer in it's hands. Someone knocks on the door of the car. You look at the clock again, 2:43, god damnit. You look go see who was knocking and disrupting you. "Hey Ignis, how can I help you on this dandy afternoon?" I ask with glaring eyes and a tight smile.
"Y/N I wanted to ask if you had any preferences on dinner tonight?" Ignis asks while readjusting his glasses.
"Wow, a good reason to bother me" you say in surprise.
"I'm not going to ask, anyways, any ideas?"
"Um, the thing we had at the last diner slapped so fucking hard" You drool at the thought of it. Looking back at Ignis who is kinda confused. "I'm assuming you wrote something down about it so if you will please, make it."
"I suppose I can do that" he responds pulling out his notebook. "We have enough gil for ingredients, I will be back soon"
"Thank you, you're amazing Iggy! Love you!" You call out to him.
"No need Y/N, I do what I can" He gives you a small wave.
"Okay that seems like everyone, let me put on some mus-"
"Y/N!" Another male voice screams.
You flinch, "Fuck, what is it now?" You turn over to see a roughed up furious Noctis running over to the car.
"You told Gladio that I had his book?" He just warped out his sword and is warping toward you.
"Shit shit shit shit!!" You yell and quickly scramble out of the car. Hopefully he will go into stasis before he can get to you.
Noctis after he finally grabs you:

Unclouded By Illusions of Morality
For @maddie9354
Word Count: 3043
Glasses wearing Fem!Reader having some good old office sex with our dear Ardyn :)
TW: Smut
———————————————————————
The halls of Zegnautus Keep were long, wide, and plush, reminiscent of the (now empty) passages of the Imperial Palace. The decor was quite extravagant, clearly meant to display the Empire’s abundant wealth and power. It worked rather well on foreign diplomats, who were easily awed by frivolous things, but you’d become accustomed to it, being the Chancellor’s wife and secretary.
At the moment, you carried crucial documents from the High Commander, bound for your husband’s desk to obtain his signature. You’d briefly glanced over the papers; approval for an increase in the military budget it seemed, but truthfully it wasn’t your place to pry. You were content knowing you could help your beloved in any small way possible. Delivering papers fell under that category.
The Keep was massive, one of the largest buildings in Gralea, inside a sprawling maze where one could easily lose their way. Fortunately for you, the path from the High Commander’s office to your husbands had been ingrained in you long ago. Classified files and information were often exchanged between the two, despite how much the Commander may wish it not so. You’d discovered Ardyn delighted in ruffling the younger man’s feathers whenever their paths inevitably crossed, hiding laughter as he sputtered indignantly at a particularly suggestive comment. The stoic general did not find the teasing nearly as amusing.
Your footsteps were muffled by the expensive carpet as you neared your husband’s office. You pushed up your glasses, them having ridden down your nose as you walked. You absentmindedly thought it may be time to have them tightened, as the frequency at which you had to adjust them was only growing. It was becoming a bit annoying, honestly.
The blurry decor became crisp as you pushed open a set of double doors, which led into your own office. You kept the space presentable, as it served as a waiting room for those who sought an audience with the Chancellor. It was also where you did the bulk of the work designated by your job, which was doing anything Ardyn neither had the time nor attention to do. So often he received requests that could easily be handled by someone far lower on the chain of command, but those were an unavoidable part of your husband’s status. You didn’t mind filtering out the spam and keeping it from finding his desk.
You breezed past the well furnished room, coming to the doors at the opposite side. You gently rapped your knuckles against the carved wood, and a faint ‘come in’ responded to your unspoken question. You darted inside, catching the door to softly close it with a click.
“Ah, just who I wanted to see,” a voice cooed from behind you.
You turned and were met with the lovely sight of your husband smirking at you, eyes half lidded dreamily as he watched you. Your expression morphed to match his own, heart rate jumping gleefully in his presence. You’d been married for years, and yet he could still so easily make you melt, turning you into a blushing bride all over again. A light heat touched the tips of your ears.
He looked away from you after a moment, placing a pen he’d been using back into its holder. The report he was working on was moved to the side, clearing his desk as he leaned back, lacing his hands. His gaze returned to you as you came around his workspace.
“What brings my love here today?” He asked, looking up at you as you stood over him.
“Well,” you began, dragging out the word as you stooped forward to deliver a chaste kiss. He lifted his chin to meet you, familiar stubble scratching at your face. He immediately deepened the sweet gesture, opening his mouth and tracing your lips with his smooth tongue. Desire pooled within you, but you pulled away before he got too adventurous. He was rather put out by that, pouting a little as you moved out of reach. “I’ve got some papers from the High Commander. He requested you sign them with the ‘utmost urgency’.”
“Ah yes,” Ardyn tore his gaze from you, nodding at them. “I was wondering when those would come in. You may put them with the others.” He gestured at a pile of documents on the corner of his desk. You obediently added them to the stack, which was now at least 30 strong. Sometimes you weren’t sure Ardyn knew the meaning of the word ‘urgent’.
“Is there anything else I can do for you?” You asked, once the pages left your grasp and you’d straightened.
He hummed in pondering, tilting his head at the door as if the answer lied beyond it. That mischievous smile returned to his face, making your insides buzz with anticipation.
“I’m afraid I’ll need you to help solve a slight problem you’ve created,” he purred, all too pleased with himself.
You paused at that, unsure of what he meant. “Oh?” Had you done something wrong? Had a mistake been made? Normally you were so meticulous, where could your mind have slipped? “Is there something you need?”
His grin widened with your inquiry. He hadn’t expected such a perfect opportunity. Instead of answering, he stood up from his cushioned chair, coat rustling with his movements. He turned and slowly leaned down, towering over your small stature, hot breath fanning across your face.
“What I need,” he said in a sinful rumble, spoken directly into your ear. “Is for you to be a good girl while I fuck you.”
You didn’t get a chance to process what he said before he scooped you up by your ass, throwing you onto his desk. You yelped in surprise, your spine and head connecting with the polished wood painfully. The ache was soon a distant memory though, as Ardyn practically pounced on top of you, positioning himself in between your legs and smothering you with his wide frame. His scent completely engulfed you, bringing forth memories of being thrown on a table, or your shared bed, or even a cold kitchen counter. Neither of you cared for the consequences of your actions, too busy gorging yourselves on one another.
Your glasses were knocked askew from his rough handling, but you couldn’t care less. Your legs wrapped around him instinctively, pulling him further into you. His mouth slotted over your own, groaning as his slick muscle shoved itself inside you.
You happily let him in once you regained your composure, swirling your tongue around his as you taste each other. A delicate duet of push and pull, exploring the far reaches of each other’s mouths. Your hands flew to his hair, knocking off his hat and letting it roll off the desk while you desperately smoosh him onto yourself. Bolts of heat struck your core, filling you with cardinal desires.
Every moan and gasp that left your throat was caught by his awaiting mouth, swallowing them down into his belly to produce an equally lustful heat. He held your shoulders in a steel grip, keeping you from pulling away even as your lungs begged for oxygen. You tugged on his hair to signal you needed a break, but he was relentless as he devoured you. You had to repeatedly pull on him before his lips left yours with a moist pop.
You both panted for a moment, attempting to quell the raging fire in your guts so you could both enjoy this to the fullest. You hadn’t thought your innocent kiss would ignite Ardyn’s lust so intensely. His libedo rose and fell like ocean waves, and obviously you’d caught him at high tide. An unexpected but entirely welcome turn of events.
After a second, he brought a hand up to tap the frame of your glasses with a single finger, indicating the object that was barely still on your face. “Would you like these to remain on, or off, my love?”
“On,” you said breathlessly, still trying to gulp down air. “I want to see you clearly.”
Ardyn hummed at that, content with your answer. “Very well. Although, I cannot promise they will stay on the whole time. I’m afraid I won’t be gentle with you.”
His response didn’t surprise you. He was capable of such, but that was often abandoned soon after starting the sinful activity. You loved how punishing he was, but that meant you’d set a precedent to allow him to go as hard as he wanted. It took some very carefully planned seduction to make him slow down, however even that sometimes failed if he was feeling feisty.
You cupped his pointy face with one hand, guiding him back down to your lips. He sensed your tenderness and allowed you to lead him in a gentle ballet. You lazily exchanged soft kisses, now filled with warm love instead of insatiable lust. Your mouths fit perfectly over each other, yours made for him and his made for you. Your heart swelled with affection as you moved against him.
“You let…me worry…about that,” you said into him, between kisses. Your lips were starting to become swollen, irritated by the endless abuse, while you were anything but.
He chuckled at you, the sound vibrating through his chest and out his nose. His left hand released your shoulder, gathering up your hair and wrapping it tightly around his palm.
“Very good, my dear,” he murmured, eyeing your neck hungrily. “Now do hold still. I would so hate to have to bite you.”
Liar, you thought with a giggle.
He yanked your head to the side, pulling your hair aggressively to reach his desired treat. It hurt a little, but he immediately soothed you by beginning to graze upon your exposed neck and shoulder, nipping and sucking and kissing like a man starved. You couldn’t get over how amazing his mouth felt on you, relishing in the way he worshiped you with it. Sticky liquid was caught by your panties, becoming soaked and ruined. He began to slowly thrust into your core, an appetizer to the rough rhythm he would use to satisfy you both.
You arched your back into him, hips wriggling with the need to be filled. “Ardyn,” you gasped, moaning out his name as he peppered you with purple love marks. You could feel his arousal pulse beneath his pants, just as excited as you were. His grip on your shoulder tightened when you called his name, fingers digging into your fragile flesh. You held his neck down with one hand while the other snaked underneath his shirt, nails sinking into him as he gradually became more needy.
You were growing impatient, sex demanding relief for the desire that tightened within it. It was uncomfortable, how much you needed him. “Ardyn,” you whimpered, this time wanting his attention moved to another place. “Please, I need you. Now.”
He stopped his salacious feast, mouth separating from the pulse point on your neck and making you keen. Your hair was released, scalp sore from his unforgiving nature. He dragged his nose up your neck and along your jawline, guiding him back to your ear where he could purr like a happy cat.
“If that is what the lady desires…”
He needed no more confirmation though. Standing up straight, he began ripping off your clothes, not caring where they went as he threw them across the room. You did your best to help, raising your arms and arching your back so the garments could be easily pulled away. By your request, your glasses remained untouched, allowing you to perfectly observe him disrobing you. You heard some of the seams on your underwear rip apart with his impatience.
Soon you lay exposed and bare, watching Ardyn as he consumed the delicious sight before him. The air was like ice to your feverish skin. You were completely submissive, totally at his mercy while you looked up at him. He would have you no other way; for you were his and his alone. You would be reminded of such when he sank his cock into your sopping entrance. It flexed with want as you thought of him filling you.
Next it was his turn to be rid of his cumbersome clothes, but he did not grant you the pleasure of watching him remove them. Instead, he simply lowered his fly, allowing him to manually pull himself free. His cock bounced into the room, fully erect and dripping fresh droplets onto the floor. You shuddered when you saw it. You’d felt it countless times before, but his impressive member never failed to make your toes curl.
He began collecting your fluids with his shaft, lubricating it in preparation. You mewled and squirmed, body convulsing as he passed over your entrance and pushed against your most sensitive nub. He groaned and hummed above you, basking in the way your body crumbled for him. It begged him to enter you, throbbing with a primal need that reverberated all the way up your spine. You tried to vocalize what you wanted, but your voice failed you, mouth unresponsive and sluggish.
Once Ardyn felt his cock was sufficiently prepared, he settled back over you, one hand returning to your shoulder while the other clamped down on your hip. You stared into his gorgeous golden eyes as he smirked down at you, waiting for what was about to happen. Your heart drummed deep within your chest.
His head caught on your entrance, which puckered expectantly. Without further fanfare, he sheathed himself fully inside you in one powerful thrust, hips slotting into your own. You cried out as he penetrated you, every muscle tensing and nails digging into the back of his coat. The momentary pain was quickly overshadowed by immeasurable pleasure, your sex pulling on him greedily as he dragged himself back out along your slick walls. Before he completely left you, he thrust forward again, impaling you on his girth to get you accustomed to him. An entirely undignified moan left you, body pushing back into him to meet his thrusts. The desk scraped loudly on the floor, pushed by the strength of his hips. He searched for that sacred rough patch within you, and when he found it, denoted by a high pitched wail from you, he began his deadly pace.
You wrathed underneath him in pure ecstasy as he slammed his cock into you over and over again. “My King, my King, my King,” you chanted in prayer, the coil of pure heat inside you tightening with each pass of his cock. You also sprinkled his name in with your chanting, knowing how he so adored it when you called him by both name and proper title. He groaned deep in his throat as you sang your encouraging song, kissing along your jawline as he continued to completely fill you.
You could feel blood rushing down to where your bodies met, making the area engorged with want. The back of your glasses banged on the table in unison with Ardyn’s body. Your inner spring was strained with pressure, ready to release when your beloved allowed it.
Ardyn shuddered above you, cock pulsing and thrusts becoming frantic. He was nearly at his peak, primed to pour his hot seed into you. The faint sound of skin slapping skin was only audible in the breaks between your cries of pleasure. You knew you would be sore and have trouble walking tomorrow, but right now it didn’t matter. It was becoming painful, how much you needed relief, and that was all your brain could focus on.
“Your Majesty,” you moaned, dropping his favorite title so he would allow you to crest the hill of pleasure. “Make me yours.”
You murmured it a few times, whispering it into his ear. It worked like a charm, as it always had. Ardyn growled deep in his throat, speed picking up impossibly fast. You weren’t sure how much more you could take, and you gyrated your hips to try to get the last bit of friction you needed.
Ardyn sank into you with a particularly violent thrust, groaning and trembling as he came undone. You could feel ropes of hot liquid eject from his member, sloshing around inside as he finished with a few sloppy thrusts. It triggered your own orgasm, sending you into a blinding euphoria that had you screaming his name. Your opening sucked on him in a show of gluttony, taking all he had to offer.
It took you some time to come down from your high, the world coming back into focus while you panted. Ardyn laid atop you, catching his own breath while he rested his head on the table. His thrusts had slowed to a stop, cock twitching as it remained sheathed in your warmth a little while longer.
Once he recovered, Ardyn stood up straight, delicately extracting himself from you. You whimpered when his head left your opening, leaving you feeling incredibly empty without him. A pleased smirk remained on his face as he tucked himself back into his trousers, looking for all the world like he hadn’t just railed you. It would’ve been funny, if you weren’t too busy admiring how beautiful he looked.
As soon as he was done straightening his coat and taming a few loose strands of hair, he gathered you up into his arms, lifting you into his lap as he collapsed back into his chair. You settled into his comforting frame, feeling the thrum of his heart beneath your ear. You finally took off your glasses, placing them onto his desk so you could fully snuggle into him. You sighed contently as your eyes drooped shut.
One arm wrapped around your waist while the other gently stroked your cheek, feeling so tender and intimate. Soft kisses were pressed into your scalp, prickly chin scraping against the supple parts of your head.
“Rest now, my love,” Ardyn’s smooth voice reached you. You could feel it hum through his chest as he spoke. “I’ll be waiting when you awaken.”
“I love you,” you slurred, speech impaired with drowsiness.
You felt more words vibrate out of him, but your ears had already stopped working, sleep all too enticing as it pulled you into its depths.

If anyone gets the reference that is the title I will laugh. 😂
I’ve been so motivated to write lately I was able to crank this out pretty quickly. I hope I mentioned the glasses enough for it to be satisfying to the asker. Let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy! ❤️

The city of Altissia was a beautiful place. People from around the world gathered to visit. It was quite literally the city of romance. So many weddings, engagements, and dates took place in the city to the point where that was almost the main attraction to the city.
Outside of love, many academics visited to study the city itself. The food was magnificent, the architecture was other-worldly, the history of the city attracted many scholars.
Circumstantially, you and the boys happened to end up in Altissia for Noctis’ supposed-to-be wedding. Even though you lot were there for business, Ignis always found the time to spoil you a little.
Dates were a rarity during this time, both you and Ignis were aware of that. You didn’t get to spend a lot of time together outside of the hotels and tents you stayed in. There was rarely any alone time. You never complained though, circumstances were hard and there wasn’t enough time to think how much that sucked in retrospect.
This was no secret to anyone, but Ignis was a planner. He managed to sneak away from the rest of the group for about an hour, going through the city and picking out every single thing the two of you were going to do on your first official date. He seemed to be quite knowledgeable about everything. He knew the best places to eat, the best places to shop, the best spots in town, he even knew where the best place was to view the sunset every night.
Within that single hour he had away, he managed to plan the entire night: he found complementing outfits for you both, reserved a wonderful meal for you two at Maagho, reserved a Gondola at the front of the city, along with two others for a guitarist and a violinist, and planned an entire map’s worth of strolls for the two of you under the evening stars. Ignis was a classic romantic, and he’d definitely prove it to you before the night would end.
After being distracted by the other boys for that hour, you returned to your hotel room with a beautiful outfit paired with a note that read: “Be ready in an hour.” You couldn’t fight off the smile that crept onto your lips, recognizing the handwriting that belonged to your boyfriend. After teasing Noctis about how you’re getting more than him and it’s supposed to be his wedding, you began to get ready. Your heart raced with eagerness as you sat in front of the mirror, using whatever you had to your disposal: blow dryers, hair straighteners, hair gel, hair spray. The look of excitement in your eyes was hard to miss, Prompto offered to take pictures so that you would remember this moment forever. You politely disagreed, though, knowing that you could never forget this day already.
After you were ready, you had about fifteen minutes to spare. As your excitement high began to wear off, anxiety began to fill your veins instead. What if you didn’t look good? What if you messed up? There were so many “what ifs” running through your mind, you began to fear that maybe backing out would be a better option. You couldn’t disappoint Ignis though... Surely he worked hard to pull all of this together.
Your hands were shaking and your leg was bouncing as you waited out the fifteen minutes, multiple and conflicting thoughts rolling through your mind as you considered all of the possibilities of how tonight was going to go. Noctis, Gladio and Prompto had all disappeared to go do their own things, so you were left waiting in the lobby as people came and went. Eventually, the front doors to the Leville opened again, revealing quite the dashing character.
As soon as your eyes fell on Ignis, your heart swelled. He looked incredibly handsome. He certainly didn’t look like he had been running around town for the past two hours getting ready for this fantastic night. A soft blush crept up your cheeks as you stood to greet him, your breath stolen away as you stared at him somewhat in awe.
You could tell he was somewhat pushing the boundaries with what he chose to wear. His usual neat and orderly attire was replaced with a black button-down shirt, the first three buttons undone. His skull necklace was polished and hanging somewhat further down. His pants were complemented by the newly polished dress shoes he wore, along with a simple belt. His coat was placed over his arm neatly, probably so that he could cool down after running around. His hair was styled somewhat differently too, it didn’t stick up like it normally did. Instead, it was relaxed a little bit, the height of it brought down until it looked like it was simply pushed back by his hand. Of course, there wasn’t a single strand of hair that was out of place though.
He was in the middle of rolling up his sleeves when you timidly approached him, a shy smile forming on your lips as you forced yourself to stop looking him up and down. “Hey.” You greeted sweetly, catching his attention.
The moment his eyes landed on you, the corners of his lips turned upwards. His eyes examined your appearance, a look of awe mixed with relief and admiration in his eyes. He reached out to take your hand, lifting it to his lips and pressing a kiss to your knuckles. “Good evening.” He returned, his voice smooth and low. It felt more intimate than how he usually spoke, causing butterflies to form in your stomach.
“What a surprise, Mister Scientia.” You hummed playfully, the air around you flirtatious. Ignis began to guide you out of the building, his fingers immediately intertwining with yours.
“A surprise?” He repeated, biting back the smirk that fought its way to his lips. “Surely you didn’t think we weren’t going to go on a date in the city of romance.” He teased, causing you to chuckle.
“I began to get worried when there was no mention of it.” You replied, instantly matching with his energy. He chuckled as well and began to stroll alongside you through the city. “So... That hour you had the boys spend with me, that was just a cover-up, wasn’t it?” You asked immediately, already getting to the bottom of his devious plan.
Ignis offered you an innocent smile. “You’re a clever one, aren’t you? I hoped they wouldn’t cause too much trouble for you.” He answered, his thumb running over your knuckles. “I suppose my plan had fallacies all along, I figured you wouldn’t just willingly spend an hour left in a hotel with them.” He chuckled. Even time he smiled, one of your heartstrings were pulled.
“It wasn’t so bad.” You reassured as the two of you came up to one of the gondola stations. “I’m sure you’ll redeem yourself tonight.” You joked, smiling as he helped you inside the gondola.
The ride to Maagho was silent, the two of you simply sat together and held hands, your head resting on his. You examined the passing scenery, humming along to the quiet sounds of the radio on the gondola. Neither of you were nervous. It all felt natural... Something that you both desired for ages and were able to finally bask in it. When the gondola slowed and waded against the water to the edge of the floating restaurant, Ignis was the first to leave. He turned and offered you his hand as you slowly stood.
The two of you were immediately guided to your table. Ignis had reserved the only table left in the slowly setting light, the glow of the sun’s rays kissing your skin as you sat down. Complemented by candle lights and Maagho’s finest dining wares, you found yourself to be impressed once again. Even if it was busy, Ignis and Weskham together were able to make it feel like you two were the only people in the restaurant.
Ignis could tell by the look on your face how impressed you were but decided to downplay it still. “It isn’t much, but I figured you would prefer familiarity over something new.” He explained, pouring you and himself a glass of wine.
You bit back a smile, knowing he was simply trying to stroke his own ego. Had it been anyone else, you would have told them off, but Ignis can at least play it off. “You did an amazing job.” You praised, watching as his smile grew wider. “Although, there’s one last thing that could have made this better-” You attempted to critique, before noticing one of the few waiters making their way over to your table. In his hands was the biggest bouquet of Altissian flowers, the vividness of the red and white flowers popping. You were left astonished as the bouquet was placed on the table in a beautiful marble vase.
“You were saying?” Ignis hummed, his voice holding a somewhat cocky tone. You bit back a giggle and ran your fingers over the petals, a quiet “wow” leaving your lips.
“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.” You stated, chuckling. “You did an amazing job... I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have this chance.” You mused your gazes meeting. A shy smile formed on your lips as he reached over, grasping your hand gently. The feeling of his somewhat rough hands on yours made your heart race.
“I should be saying that about you, my dear.” He responded smoothly as his chin came to rest on the palm of his free hand. “If it weren’t for you and your unending love, I would have gone insane by now.” Ignis murmured, trailing kisses along your knuckles. The way his lips brushed against your knuckles as he spoke sent chills down your spine. The way he touched you was filled with love, he made it so obvious how his heart beat for you.
The rest of dinner was almost the same. As the sunset, Ignis cursed himself for not hiring a professional photographer to capture these moments... So he made sure to take in every moment. He wanted to remember your sun-kissed skin, the way your eyes were brought out by the sun. He never wanted to forget your smile and the way your nose scrunched or your eyes crinkled. His heart swelled at each giggle and every touch made his stomach flood with butterflies. The others were right, it was painfully obvious how badly in love he was with you, but that wasn’t a bad thing. Thankfully Weskham delivered on his promise for the finest meal he could prepare. Perfectly cooked fish and meat, paired with a decent amount of greens and fruits topped off with the perfect garnish was placed on your table, along with some specialty dessert items. Ignis could see the way your eyes widened, the hungry look in your eyes being replaced with surprise.
You couldn’t imagine the bill that Ignis had to pay for this. As each food item was placed down, you slowly became intimidated by the amount of food. It all looked so delicious... You shared a look with Ignis before smiling shyly and happily beginning to eat, starting off small with the side salad and fruit. Eventually, you both shared your meals, the both of you wanting to try everything at least once.
After dessert, a satisfied sigh left both of your lips. It was getting close to time for Ignis’ next phase of his plan. As he stood, he carefully helped clean up your table with the waiters before leaving a generous tip. His hand came down to hold yours gently as he guided you back to the gondola. This one was different than the last one that had dropped you off. It was bigger and had a lot more room, and overall seemed fancier. You raised a brow at Ignis, but he simply smirked and stepped onto the boat, helping you on. The cushioning was soft and comfortable, Ignis’ warmth shielded you from the slight wind coming off of the water. As the gondola took off, you couldn’t help but wonder where you two were off to now. You weren’t going back the way you came, instead, you two were traveling along the outskirts of the city. Eventually, you slowed near the front of Altissia, allowing you to see the glowing lights of the city reflect off of the water.
The sun was still setting, the sky was painted several shades of yellow, orange, pink, red, purple, and finally blue. One half of the sky showed the sun setting along the horizon while the other side had the moon growing and the stars twinkling. A quiet breath left your lips as you looked around, hardly noticing the accompanying musicians beginning to play. Ignis moved to sit in front of you, his smile wide as he watched your reaction. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” He questioned, not taking his eyes off of you.
You finally turned back towards him, your lips curved upwards as you slowly nodded. “It is.” You replied, reaching over to take his hands in yours. “Thank you... This was magnificent.”
Ignis smiled and gently tucked a piece of your hair behind your ear before carefully leaning over to press a feather-light kiss on your lips. “Don’t thank me yet. We’re not close to being done.” He whispered softly, watching as the sun disappeared under the horizon. Your face flushed from the kiss, causing you to hide your face in his shoulder. Ignis wasn’t one for display of affection, it was a rarity when he would kiss you unless it was in a tent or hotel. His arms came to wrap around you tightly, allowing you to melt under his touch.
As the stars began to twinkle above you, you slowly pulled away. “How did you manage to plan all of this in an hour?” You asked curiously, a quiet chuckle leaving his lips.
“Well...” He began, pulling off his coat and wrapping it around your shoulders. “There was a lot of rushing. I was afraid that I wouldn’t have been able to plan everything out how I wished, but this is all perfect.” Ignis explained, smiling down at you. Deep down, he knew it was perfect because of how happy you were. Otherwise, would all of this had been worth it?
You smiled and rested your head on his shoulder, your eyes examining the stars and galaxies above you. “I wish we could do this more.” You murmured. Ignis’ arm carefully wrapped around your waist as he brought you closer.
“I know... I wish we could too.” He murmured softly, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “We will have more time in the future. Whether it’s tomorrow or two years from now.” He reassured, looking down at you.
You looked up at him and your gazes met. “I love you.” You whispered almost breathlessly. He smiled gently and pressed a kiss to your forehead this time.
“I love you too, darling.” He murmured, turning back to the stars.
This phase lasted for quite some time. The two of you sat in the gondola silently, appreciating and cherishing your time together. The soft hum from the instruments carried over the water as the boat rocked beneath you. When it came time to move onto the final phase, your heart tugged and begged you to stay here. It felt so right to be in his arms like this... You weren’t ready to move on. Moments like this were rare these days, feeling at peace and having the privilege to stay like this with Ignis made all of the troubles in your life go away.
When the gondola boarded the docks, Ignis was the first to stand. He carefully stepped out and reached out with his hand, allowing you to grip it as you stepped up. You continued to hold his hand as he silently guided you away from the docks, a somewhat disappointed feeling bubbling up in your chest. Tonight was amazing, you weren’t ready for it to end. It had gone by so quickly...
The final phase of Ignis’ plan was a walkthrough of Altissia, but he wasn’t sure if he really wanted to carry through with it. The thought of you two returning to the hotel just to face the same struggles again the next day made his heart ache. He knew how difficult it was for you, for both of you. As you both walked through the city, a quiet sigh escaped his lips.
“As the evening grows later, the more I dread tomorrow.” He murmured softly, causing you to turn towards him. A sad smile graced your lips as you gave his hand a gentle squeeze.
“I know... I also dread it.” You muttered, your arms wrapping around his arm. “Tonight was so amazing... I don’t want to go back.”
Ignis furrowed his brows as he continued to guide you through the empty streets, his shoes occasionally kicking through small puddles, ruining the reflection of the streetlights. “It’s our duty.” He reminded shallowly, knowing that he couldn’t outright refuse it. A conflicted expression formed on his features as he refused to say any more and instead pressed a kiss to your temple.
You knew what that meant. He was uncomfortable with the topic and wished to move on. A quiet sigh left your lips as the two of you continued on, possible conversation starters rolling through your mind. Your eyes landed on a sign quite a bit away, the large white letters advertising a vintage wedding store.
Altissia: The City of Love and Marriage.
“If you were to ever get married, would you marry here?” You asked curiously, looking up at him. You knew how interested he was in visiting Altissia once again, he seems to admire it.
His answer shocked you when he shook his head. “No... This place is wonderful, but it doesn’t fit my plan quite well.” He answered, looking down at you. “I figured it would be too... Hm... ‘flashy’ for your tastes.” Ignis added, a small smirk forming on his lips.
His last statement caught you off guard. Was that some kind of promise or hint? Your face adopted a deep shade of red as you tried to brush it off, looking back out at the water. “You’re right.” You responded somewhat stubbornly. “I prefer somewhere quiet. Maybe like Cape Caem.”
Ignis hummed softly. “I figured as much. I’m surprised you stayed in Insomnia as long as you did.” He replied. “I’m thankful, though. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have met.” He explained, furrowing his eyebrows.
“Hm? You think so?” You asked, raising a brow. “I’m sure we would have crossed paths eventually... You know, like soulmates would.” You hummed, attempting to get him back in a similar way. It seemed to have failed though.
“Soulmates, hm?” He repeated, seeming to consider it for a moment. “Then I suppose you’re right. We would have crossed paths.” He replied thoughtfully, offering you an innocent smile.
“Ah, why don’t you ever get flustered?” You complained, pouting up at him. Ignis simply laughed, not bothering to answer as you continued to complain and playfully scold him.
After that, your night quickly came to an end as your walk finished up in front of the Leville. As you stared up at the hotel, a pout formed on your lips. “Is this really the end?” You questioned, looking up at him. “No more surprises? Adventures? Nothing?”
“No, my love. This is where our evening finishes.” He murmured softly, his voice giving away the slight sadness he felt. “This won’t be the end of it, though. We’ll have our own journey eventually.” He whispered, his hands moving to cup your cheeks.
You smiled sadly and placed your hands above his. “Promise?” You whispered, feeling the gap between your faces begin to close.
“Promise.” He answered just before his lips met yours, his eyes falling shut. You melted under his touch and returned the kiss. It was smooth and gentle but passionate at the same time, both of your unwavering longingness fueling it. As he pulled away again, he noticed the slight dampness on your cheeks, causing him to brush his thumbs beneath your eyes. “It’s late. It’s about time we get some rest.” He murmured softly, taking your hand in his once more and guiding you inside. You didn’t get the chance to say anything else as you both entered inside.
Thankfully, the boys were asleep. You and Ignis changed into your nightwear and moved to take up the empty bed, his arms wrapping around your frame and holding you tightly against his chest. The dreadful feeling never lifted from your heart as you listened to his beat, your eyes falling shut. Eventually, his heartbeat lulled you off to sleep, allowing you to bask in his warmth and scent without feeling apprehensive about your futures.

DELICACY | YANDERE!IGNIS x READER | FFXV
Tumblr media
You ran a hand past your slightly sweaty brow, and brushed back the [H/C] hair that had fallen across it. This was just proof of your hard work, really. Boy, it really had been tough, and you had Gladio to thank for that. He pushed you and pushed you, but you were flattered by it at least. It seemed he only did so because he saw the potential for greatness in you.
Whether you were going to end up looking like a protein addict by the end of his training was...debatable, but perhaps best avoided. After all, Ignis was the one you were really seeking to impress, and you in turn felt like it wouldn't be wise to become muscle-bound.
Ignis...you didn't know why but there was something so frankly appealing about him. Well actually, you did know why. He was tall, suave and handsome. He pulled off glasses and shades like they were second nature to him, and the gloves were an added bonus. Even just his posture screamed 'gentleman'. All that being said though, his strongest appeal no doubt lay in his cooking abilities. The man could whip up a gourmet dish over nothing but a campfire. He was a talent in the kitchen.
Perhaps a talent in other ways too, but your flustered self would never discover the truth to that notion unless you actually managed to...well...seduce him, so to speak. That didn't mean you were always flouncing around in Cindy-esque garb, but you did figure that strengthening yourself for him would hold some good appeal.
You wanted to be a valuable party member. Someone they could all count on, all four of them, whenever demonic creatures sprang up during the night and threatened to trash the Regalia. The Regalia, which as an added bonus, could now fly? Who'd have thought?
Nonetheless, you spent that particular day absolutely beasting yourself in the Cleigne countryside. The monsters you chose as targets were turned to tatters in mere seconds, and it felt all too easy. You really were getting more and more powerful, but you also landed yourself further and further away from Noctis, Prompto and Gladio, to the point where you might as well have set out alone.
The forest didn't scare you, but the dark did somewhat when you were isolated, and when you couldn't find them easily again you resolved to just trek your way back to the glowing amber light of the camping site.
Ignis had smartly set it up on top of a large rock, somewhere that monsters would be even further deterred from despite the wilderness surrounding you. As you trekked back and ascended up the uneven side of it, you eventually reached the top and were greeted by a delectable smell.
“Mm...what is that?” you had to ask, as you rounded the top and came trudging over towards where Ignis was stirring the pot, practically drooling. Your weary body flopped down into one of the canvas camp chairs and he looked up at you. His hand pushed his glasses a little further up his nose, just by the center of them, and he smiled charmingly as ever.
“It's a new recipe I'm trying. Something that I concocted myself.” You giggled slightly, not hiding how smitten you were right there and then. “'Concocted'...sounds like you're making a witch's brew.”
Perhaps that wasn't too far off... Ignis only kept smiling and stirring, before eventually spooning up some of the meat-filled soup. These kinds of stews rarely looked so delicious, but he had a knack for making even the plainest toast look irresistible. Swallowing as he handed you over a bowl and took a seat of his own, you felt like you could already taste the salt.
“Careful now, it's hot.” Ignis warned you gently, getting comfortable before picking up his own bowl and blowing gently onto the liquid. Eyeing him sheepishly, you figured you'd try something. “Ah-!” the soup was as scalding as you might have expected. Boldly, you tried sipping some early, and almost made your lip blister. Ignis' eyes instantly shot over to you, and he tutted.
“I told you, did I not? You need to be careful...” Your hands around the bowl were replaced with his, and he picked up the spoon instead, hauling his chair closer just so he could easily raise a portion up to your slightly stinging mouth. He blew on it first, then held it out to you.
This was what you had, admittedly, been aiming for. It was kind of romantic, right? To be taken care of like this, especially after such a long and grueling day of monster battles. You gazed at him shyly for another moment, before just parting your lips and trying the food.
Instantly, your eyes lit up. Forget the context, the taste alone was just phenomenal! Why, this was like the best home cooking you could possibly imagine!
“Gods that's...that's amazing Ignis!” you gasped and touched your lips in awe. Some might have called it an overreaction on your part, but they clearly weren't familiar with just how good this dish was. Ignis had really stunned you with it, it was probably the best you'd ever had from him, or even just period.
“I'm glad you approve.” he smirked, and handed the meal back to you so you could continue eating yourself. You dug in quickly, in a hurry because you just couldn't resist. Oblivious, you just kept up, only breaking the silence so you could ask: “What kind of meat is this? If this is a local monster then I need to make sure I kill some tomorrow, stat!”
“Haha...you really are eager, aren't you?” Ignis was amused by your almost childish reactions. He clasped his hands in his lap and leaned back smugly, having finished his own. “There won't be any need to hunt, there's plenty more in the cold boxes.”
Your eyes cast over to where they were sitting, just by the edge of the campfire. True enough, they'd all been filled up with something, and sealed. “Right, but I still wanna know what this actually is. I don't think you've cooked with this before.” you didn't know how to describe it, but the meat was just perfection.
Ignis took off his glasses for a moment, just so he could huff onto the lenses and wipe them with the cloth from his pocket. “It's not meat from any monster, I can tell you that.”
Pausing, you lowered your spoon down to your near empty bowl and hummed. “But it's not some kind of fish, is it? Doesn't seem like it.” “No, you're right.” “Is it from one of the local animals?” you tried to think about which one it could be. Yet you were surprised to see Ignis simply shaking his head again, returning his glasses to their rightful place while he did so.
“That's...weird.” you completely set the spoon down. Then you looked over at the three empty chairs, and into the woods beyond. “...Where are the other guys anyway? Shouldn't they be here by now...?” “They should be.” Ignis cryptically spoke, and your gaze swiveled back to him. Somehow, all the pleasure had vanished. Now you had a pit forming in your stomach.
“...Did they already come back earlier?” “Ah.” Ignis finally set his empty bowl aside and met your eyes. “...Now you're catching on.”
Your grip loosened, and you were pretty sure you dropped your spoon in the process, but you weren't even paying attention to that. No, your focus was solely fixed on the boxes arranged at the edge of the campsite, stacked up there were so many of them. Each was maybe big enough to hold a few big fish. Or something else in great volume...
Could three cut up corpses fit neatly into those cold boxes?
“You see I'd grown quite sick of them myself.” Ignis stood up, speaking in a relaxed tone while he watched you drop the rest of your dinner too. The soup scattered, as did the red meat inside, and he eyed the remains of his comrades with disdain. “They were a constant irritation, so when I had them alone back here and you were still gone, I couldn't help myself. Getting rid of them was necessary, after all.”
His eyes cast up to your pale and frightened face. “It means that I can finally get you all to myself.”
“F...FUCK!” A series of expletives and cries left you as you sprang up from your chair, knocking it back, staggering away from him. Your skin had broken out in a sweat, your heart pounding relentlessly as Ignis started pacing calmly in your direction. You turned quickly to where your sword was resting at the side, and tried to lunge for it.
Ignis was quicker, one hand seizing your arm and pulling it behind your back. As you hit his chest, his other snaked up to your chin, leather gripping your jaw from one side to the other and squeezing. His voice was like a snake in your ear: “Over time you'll learn not to miss them, [Y/N].” His tongue flicked against your ear, and you let out a pent up and desperate whimper. “I'll make you forget they ever existed...”
Your eyes shut tight, forehead furrowing as you cringed and tried to cope with this. Trembling in his hold, you had never felt weaker, as if all your training had been for naught. Your knees buckled, legs turning to gelatin. Ignis' twisted confession had pushed you to the breaking point, and your vision was already blurring.
You might have fainted entirely had you not heard a startlingly chirpy voice suddenly speak up: “Woah! Looks like somebody made a mess!”
His cruel hands had already slipped away, leaving you standing there like a shaking idiot as your eyes flashed open and set upon the shocking sight before you.
Prompto came jogging up towards the camp, tutting as he saw the spillage you'd unwillingly made. Ignis was already busy clearing it up, acting as if nothing had happened while he chatted with the freckled boy and his two companions. Yes...Gladiolus and Noctis were there too. They came strolling up with dirt and the odd cut or bruise embellished upon them, but otherwise unharmed.
“Hard day's work, sorry we took so long!” Prompto apologized while he took a seat and grabbed some soup for himself. “Yummy, looks great!” “...Huh...?” “[Y/N]?” Gladio's presence beside you startled you, and you quickly looked at him with widened eyes. He just frowned, then laughed. “Hah! What's the matter, did you see a ghost when you wandered off alone? I told you it's better to stick together when it's getting dark.”
“I'm bushed...” Noctis moaned, yawning as he sat down too, and soon enough Gladiolus was encouraging you over like you were some sort of black sheep among them. Everything in this situation had taken such a drastic 180 that you were genuinely shell-shocked.
“We've already eaten, but you all enjoy. [Y/N] seemed to approve, and I think we all know we can trust her sense of taste.” Ignis spoke in an almost jovial manner. It was disgusting. After what he had just done...you could only stare at him in bewilderment. The other guys just remained none the wiser.
“So what kind of meat is this?” When Noctis asked that, Ignis took a pause, before smiling simply again. “Human.”
For a stretch, there was silence. Then, it was broken by Gladio's sudden and hearty laughter, followed by Prompto's too. Noctis didn't exactly laugh, but he at least smiled a little. “Hahaha, well it's damn good if that's true!” Gladio joked, “Maybe we should be the bad guys!” “Hehehe!...For real though, where'd you get this?” Prompto asked once he'd calmed down from his giggles.
Ignis answered straight away: “Altissia. A special shipment came in from there to one of the local stores. It was more expensive than I'd like to say, but I figured it might be alright to treat ourselves for once.”
Nobody objected to that. Nobody batted any eyes about eating it. Nobody knew what had really happened.
When they all went to their beds inside the tent, you remained lingering outside where Ignis was cleaning up. You weren't there to help him. Just to stare at him pointedly, to try and get inside his head somehow. Try and figure out exactly why the hell he'd tried to trick you like that.
“...If you don't believe me, you can check inside those ice boxes over there.” Ignis uttered, not looking at you while he finished packing up. “...I believe you. I just don't know why you did it...and why you...”
“...” Ignis suddenly stood up straight, and approached you then. From the tent you could hear distant snores, but besides that the night was eerily silent. He walked right up to you, urging you to take a step back out of instinct. The way the moon was positioned, it sometimes reflected against his glasses and hid his unfeeling eyes from sight. “You are not just strong, [Y/N]. You are also intelligent, and perfect in many other ways.” In other circumstances, you would have been falling on your knees from those words, “-But to assume that I would ever kill the very person I've been tasked to protect, and my fellows, is foolish. I won't deny that it's a dream of mine, but it will have to stay that way if I don't want to become a fugitive for the rest of my days.”
His words shook you to your core. How could he so easily admit that he wanted them dead?
Ignis seemed to read your mind: “I've a desire for you, [Y/N]. That's why. For so long I've wanted nothing more than to have you all to myself, but alas that can't be for now. I have my duties to fulfil, after all. It's as I said...and so I simply decided to play a little game. It was for my own amusement...”
Amusement!?
“And you believed me, possibly because you love me in return. You'd rather assume I was really a murderer than call me a liar. I'd call you naïve...but perhaps it truly is better to be cautious...” His gloved hand reached out again, cold touch gracing against your jaw and tilting your chin up. His steely eyes gazed back at you heartlessly...his lips pulling into a wry, victorious smirk, upon seeing how you looked at him so petrified, feeling how you quivered.
The lips that met yours were like poison, and his heated tongue pushing through and exploring your mouth even more so. But even if his hand hadn't curled around the back of your head, you were rigid regardless, unable to move as Ignis forced that kiss upon you by the flickering flames. He only pulled away once he'd had his fill, and his hand moved to cup your cheek, his own breath short.
Still, he managed to speak, as much as you wished otherwise. “...Indeed it is, [Y/N]...” Leaning in, he let his lips hover right beside your ear, delivering that penultimate line he'd just been dying to say.
“Because one day, it might be a reality...”

Until Darkness Descends
CHAPTER: 27
FANDON: Final Fantasy XV
MAIN PAIR: Ardyn Izunia x Reader
SEC PAIR: Gladiolus Amicitia x Reader
RATING: Explicit
A few days passed when Noctis received a phone call from Gladiolus’ sister, Iris. Your heart fluttered with joy after finding out that she was alive and well. She and a few other refugees migrated to Lestallum after the attack on the capital. Dread whipped your gut when the prince made up his mind to meet her in the city.
You wanted to see Iris. She was the kid sister of your boyfriend and a constant in your life since you were ten years old. But the thought of revisiting that wretched place caused sweat to burst out of your pores like a leaking dam. You offered little conversation during the drive there, too busy trying to unwind the knots in your stomach.
Once you arrived, the first thing you noticed was the sweltering heat, how sticky and heavy the air was and the way the building swam in the humidity. The voices of the city rode on the wind as Ignis pulled the car into a parking lot, the chatter of the common folk, the thunk and grind of machinery, and the impatient honk of car horns resurrected memories you thought would remain dead.
Your shoulders were hiked up to your ears and your arms rippled with tension as you climbed out of the car. In your worry, your bottom lip found its way between your teeth. Your steps were heavy as though they were weighed down by shackles. Fear lifted its head in your chest and you wondered if anyone would recognize you.
Would the sight of your face drive an excited crowd in your direction? Would the temple priestess of your youth choose this time to traverse the city and notice you? The questions stirred a sour storm in your belly. But as you walked by the Lestallum people, you noticed no lingering glances, no turning of heads, and no excited gasps.
Nobody noticed you, you were just another face in the crowd. Your shoulders lowered an inch. There was no reason to worry. Ten years had passed since anyone from this city had seen you. Your hair was longer, your cheeks more narrow, and your limbs longer. You didn’t look like the same girl who performed miracles on the city streets. You were safe.
A sigh of relief fell from your lips and took your worry and stress with it. Meandering through the network of stairs and side streets, you and the boys stumbled upon the hotel that hosted Iris. Walking through the open doors, your face lit up the moment you saw Iris. You rushed towards her and pulled the girl into your arms. Jared, the Amicitia family’s butler, along with his grandson, Talcott, were also with her. You hugged both of them as well, happy to see they were all alive.
After catching up, Iris led you and the boys to her room. The atmosphere around the six of you became heavy, stripped of the jovial tone it previously had. She sat on her bed and told your group everything that happened that day in the capital.
Regret lunged through your body as your mind brought her words to life. You should’ve been there. Maybe the king would still be alive. Or maybe you would’ve died too. A cold shiver looped around your spine. You looked around the room and saw the same conflicted emotions on the boys’ faces. Survivor’s guilt was a gash that refused to heal.
You thought about Noctis’ childhood sweetheart, Lunafreya, the Oracle. The girl he was supposed to marry yesterday. She was said to be present at the treaty signing that day in the capital. She too was reported deceased. Your brows knitted together and your fingernails sunk deep into your biceps. You hoped the news was wrong. They also reported that prince Noctis was dead, but he was obviously alive and breathing right next to you. Perhaps the same could be said for the late princess.
That night you laid awake in bed. Dry eyes stared up at the ceiling, counting specks of dust that hung from the smooth white surface. Gladiolus snored softly beside you, his arm draped across your waist like a vise keeping you in place. A blade of moonlight slashed through the window, beckoning your attention to the city lights.
Sighing, you sat up in bed and gently moved Gladiolus’ arm from your waist. With no hope for sleep, you got dressed and made your way to the door. The air was much cooler at night. The wind carried a crispness that reminded you of Tenebrae in the cusp of winter. You pulled your jacket tighter around you and walked with your gaze lowered.
Soon the pebble infested cement ground was replaced with the crunch of grass underfoot. You lifted your head to find a secluded park, the same one you visited many times before in the past. A gentle breeze combed through the abandoned place, causing a swing to creak as a sashayed back and forth in the wind.
Taking a seat on the bench, you studied the maze of grass beneath you, as though the curved tips of the narrow leaves would deliver hidden truths to you. Another breeze whipped through the park and made the trees rustle and sway to an inaudible song.
Shoulders slouched, you buried your hands in your pockets. You felt so lost. Everything that had happened recently had chipped away at whatever confidence you developed behind the citadel walls. Everything was so much easier, so much more clear, while you were in Insomnia. You trained hard during the day and went to sleep with aching muscles. You had a purpose, had meaning, now you were lost at sea with no land in sight.
You rubbed your hands together, your paralysis lifted, but your inadequacy soaked deep into your bones nonetheless. You worked so hard to get to where you were now, only to be crushed by an ineptitude you didn’t realize was still there. No matter how far you run from this city, you would always be that little girl only useful for cheap tricks. Your talents laid in draining grieving parents and sickly people of their wealth, not in aiding the courts.
These past eight days proved that. Your vision swam and you closed your eyes against the tears. The back of your neck suddenly heated up and your ears perked at the sound of approaching footsteps. Just another night traveler, you thought. It wasn’t until you heard a satiny chuckle that you turned around.
“All by your lonesome yet again.” The honeyed tone wrapped around you like a heated blanket. “I’m certain I’ve seen this before, perhaps this is what they call deja vu?” Amber light hit a crop of auburn hair as he stepped under the streetlamp, illuminating the slight grin on his face.
“Perhaps it is.” You said in reply. “What are you doing in Lestallum? If you aren’t careful a girl might think you’re following her.” As soon as the joke left your lips, an icy ripple raced down your legs. You swallowed a lump in your throat, your mouth gone dry. This was the second time you crossed paths within the past few days, you weren’t sure if you could chalk it up to coincidence anymore.
Anxiety stitched its way up your spine, pulling your muscles taut. What if Ardyn was following you? Suddenly all you could think about was the anger in his eyes, the fire in his grip, and the poison in his words. Could that easily become reality? You stared at Ardyn as he took a seat next to you. Your heart stuttered as though it too was lost for words.
Goosebumps scattered across your arms and you looked down at the ground. You’ve never seen Ardyn angry and possessive before, but what if he was possessive of you? Was that why you kept seeing him the past eight days? Was he really following you?
Your mind spiraled and that’s when he chuckled. “Quite the contrary, my dear. I am simply here on business, Lestallum has always been hospitable to magicians. And with my previous engagement now canceled I am free to return to my roots. I see you're of the same mind.”
Your chest deflated with a breath, your anxiety reduced to a simmer. His explanation made sense. You don’t know why your mind resorted to nonsensical tales. The goosebumps licking your arms sunk underneath your skin and you tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “I guess you could say that.” You said. The air became still between you, as though the entire world stopped to watch your encounter.
Just like the last meeting, the space between you was heavy with an awkwardness that wasn’t there before. It robbed your mouth of moisture and made your nerves pop and scatter like fleeing insects. You gripped your covered arms, the dark leather creasing beneath your fingers. Wanting to offer more than just a few words, you turned slightly to face him. “So how have your travels been?”
Ardyn gave you his usual smile, it was the equivalence of dumping water on a burning bush, enough to snuff out the flame, but not enough to repair the damage. “Oh simply wonderful. Care to hear?”

Chocobos rarely needed a reason to exist within the city walls of Insomnia, but they were mainly there to bring the more country part of Eos to the few green parks that were spotted throughout. Some were even used to pull carriages if people were looking for something a bit more romantic. The moment you found that there was a small farm nearby that raised and bred them, you wasted no time at all to grab at the opportunity to work there.
It wasn't exactly the best pay in the world, but you got to be around something you enjoyed.
Your months throughout working there you saw all kinds of people come and go. Some you could only remember because of something you connected on; others, they were merely problematic and you knew how to avoid any confrontation. However, there was the friend to the prince of Lucis that seemed to come over as often as he could just to look for any and all excuses to enjoy in the birds himself.
Prompto, was it? You were awful with names, and you had to admit, you never heard his around Insomnia that much even if he was a guy who was best friends with the soon to be king. If it wasn't Prince Noctis spoken about you, it was his bodyguard, Gladiolus you heard of often or his advisor, Ignis. It seemed this Prompto guy just kind of slipped into the background of things. You tried not to say anything about it in worry of how that could personally make him feel.
Honestly, it was just nice to kind of have him around. The birds really enjoyed his company, and even the temperamental ones Prompto seemed to know how to handle quite well.
“Heyas.”
The voice was all too familiar to you, making you turn from the chocobo you were washing down for the day to get it cleaned up for a ride about the park. Removed momentarily from the task at hand, you smiled ear to ear. “Good to see you, Prompto,” you greeted, wiping the wet bird dander on the apron you had over your front.
He pivoted forward, tapping his fingertips together. “So, uh, just washing the birds today, hu?”
You gave him a curious look, a lopsided smile still ever prevalent upon your features. “I do this nearly every Wednesday, Prompto. You know that one couple usually rents Piper for the afternoon and evening.” You chuckled to yourself just thinking about it. “Ever since they've been newly wed, it's been impossible to be around them.” Grabbing the hose again, you were mindful of the bird as you tried to wash off the soap that you had scrubbed carefully within her feathers earlier
“Right, right,” the gunman chanted as he inched a bit closer. “Did you need any help with her? I can get the other side if you want me to.”
Prompto would often offer his services for free, but you felt that made your job a bit on the easy side. Never had you told the owner of it, worried of how he would respond. “Well, my day is a bit lengthy anyways. I think it'll be okay if I do all the grunt work and you just talk.” Turning towards him, you tilted your head curiously. “So? What's up?”
“Ah, oh um—nothing special,” Prompto confessed, rubbing the back of his blond hair. “I was just checking in to see how you were doing and wondering when you'd be free tonight.”
He was acting far more jittery than usual. It was odd... like something was on his mind. “When I'm off?” you checked your phone to remind yourself of the time. “I will be off within five hours. Is something the matter? You're acting a bit funny.” In an attempt to lighten the atmosphere, you presented the last comment jokingly.
He nervously laughed, rolling onto the ball of his foot before moving forward again as if to rock in place. “Ah, that. It's nothing big, y/n. I was just hoping we could head out for dinner and video game stuff at umm... at-at my place.”
Now the jitters made sense. He had never offered you to join him at his place, and there it was. “Oh?” The very idea raced through your head, trying to decide whether today would be good or maybe tomorrow.
“I mean—ya know—you don't have to join me!” Prompto quickly sputtered out, his hands open as if to catch any negative criticism you could throw his way. “I was just, uh—offering.”
“You're always so hard on yourself, Prom,” you lightly jabbed, hoping to ease the mood a little. “You know I don't mind so long as you don't mind it's going to be about nine by the time I get out of here. That's not too late for dinner for you?”
A bright, honest smile spread across his lips as he shook his head. “No, no! That's just fine! It's fine...!” He hopped a bit in place as he looked around to see what else he could maybe assist you with. “Umm, well, uh. If you don't need or want my help here, I can just—.”
“I said I didn't need your help,” you playfully reminded him. “I didn't mention anything about saying 'no' to your company.” With the hose turned off, you motioned to the empty chair nearby. “You can join me and at least keep me occupied mentally so I don't go insane.”
He hardly needed to be told twice, and in that instance, he grabbed the chair, spun it around to where he was sitting in it backwards with his arms crossover over the headpiece. “You got it!”
The hours did indeed pass far more pleasantly with him at least around to talk your ear off about the latest video games, manga, and other nerdy things you both could connect on. Being around chocobos, you rarely got that connection with customers. It was nice to have the outlet.
As soon as the final hour was over, you went to grab your belongings and headed back to Prompto's place just near the Citadel. Venturing near the castle always made you a bit uneasy. You felt like you truly didn't belong there and like you would be scolded for trespassing.
“Intimidating, isn't it?” you pondered aloud as your eyes ventured over to the Lucian Citadel in passing.
“Eh?” Prompto's blue eyes followed yours. “Oh, right. That. It can be.”
There was an odd somber tone to him. You weren't sure where it came from, but it had you concerned you said something wrong in that small sentence. “Something the matter?”
He shook his head, waving away your concern. “Neh, I'm fine. Let's get inside, yeah?”
The area in which he lived was an apartment complex mainly for those serving the royal family. You knew Ignis lived there somewhere too but Gladiolus lived elsewhere to your knowledge. Upon arriving at Prompto's apartment, you found it to be quite cozy and welcoming. The kitchen shared a space with the living and eating room while the small hallway you could only imagine led to the bathroom and bedroom.
“You even have a balcony,” you gawked, pointing to the sliding glass door not far away.
“Noct let me have the window view. I feel a bit bad for poor Iggy as he kinda got stuck without much of one.” Prompto tossed his bag off to the side as he stretched to unwind from the day. “He says it's fine, but I think he's secretly envious of me.”
The joking way the last few words were said made you stifle a laugh. It was hard to imagine that man ever expressed any other mood beyond what looked to you as irritation. “So what do you plan on for dinner? I'm a bit hungry after working so many hours today.”
“The one thing I'm great at making,” Prompto teasingly began as he pulled out his phone. “A pizza.”
You chuckled. “You mean ordering a pizza.”
“It's still dinner whether I made it or not,” he jokingly jabbed in return.
Upon the pizza arriving, you both sat down to enjoy it on the sofa while tampering with one of the latest games Prompto had on him. It was a bullet hell type of game that you heard about but you hadn't gotten your hands on. In that regard, you merely watched him play it. However, the way he had been so anxious in just trying to ask you for something as simple as a dinner and a game night made you a bit curious. He was always a nervous and shy kind of guy but you rarely saw him act that way around you as of late.
“So what had you so anxious today, Prom?” It was better to just come right out in ask. You couldn't handle the beating around the bush idea.
Prompto was a bit hesitant in responding, and you blamed it on the fact he was so deep within the game in front of him. That did eventually slow, you noticed, as he hit the pause button to rest the controller in his lap. “Ah, you noticed?” he asked with another small titter.
“Hell, you're doing it right now,” you commented with a raise of your brow. “Is something on your mind?”
“N-No, no...” The words trailed off as he tapped his fingers on the controller at this point. “So, umm, y/n? H-How... What do you think about... umm, me?”
It was a very to the point question, making you jerk your head back in shock at it. “You?” Your eyes looked elsewhere as you gathered your thoughts. “What do I think about you...” you repeated aloud, though the words were more labored in thought.
“Ouch, don't think too hard now.” His words sounded like they were joking but there was also a bit of pain in there.
“No, no, no!” You waved your hands at the negative thoughts he no doubt was putting into his own mind. “It's not like that. I swear! I just. I dunno. There's a lot about you that I enjoy, so why are you asking?”
He moved his lips inward, eyes shifting about as he seemed to be gathering his courage. “Because, uh... I just...” Prompto rubbed the back of his neck, which was starting to get stiff. “Oof, I blew this before, and I really don't want to regret that again. Y/N... I really like you.”
You knew where that line usually went, but you passed it off for now as it was just a kind sentiment. The last thing you wanted to do was accidentally over read the way he had been acting as of late and ruin a good friendship. “I like you too, Prompto.”
“Not like that,” he insisted hastily. “I... y/n... I look at you and all I see is love. You know, I just... I want to be with you... And umm...” Prompto cringed over how scrambled the words were coming out. “Why didn't I write this in a letter or a text or something? I seem to suck when it comes to speaking my mind in public.”
Reaching over, you grabbed his hand and squeezed it hard with a reassuring smile. “It's a lot to take in after a long shift, but I get where you're going with this.” The smile only widened. “And I thank you for even considering me as someone you'd want to be with or at least try to be with.”
He found your words to be dismissive. Perhaps you hadn't noticed how you put yourself down in the ideals of relationships, but he certainly did. “I can easily love you, y/n. You shouldn't let the past hurt how your future is going to end up.” He glanced away again, as if showing he was hiding something from you. “I know that I've let the past nearly ruin my future, and I don't want that to happen again. I feel like...”  He paused, his hands clasped one minute and then separating the next before rejoining as if to constitute the act as a shrug. “...I feel like I can trust you, y/n. I hope you know I'm not kidding when I say I do love you, and I want to love you if you'll just let me.”
There was something in his words that were somber. It was as a faint tone that you couldn't reach. Was it the fear or rejection or something else? “I guess if you want to risk it all with me then...” Actions spoke louder than words. It wasn't a kiss on the lips, but moving swiftly over, you snatched the opportunity to kiss his cheek. “...Then I guess we can give it a try. I'd enjoy seeing where loving you will take me.”
Prompto was shocked by the kiss. His gloved hand over the spot as he rubbed it affectionately while a blush made its way onto his freckles cheeks. “Y-Yeah. Of course! Great!” Even in the moment he wasn't sure how to act or what to say, but hearing that joy come back into him was more than enough to have you feel that this was a right choice to be made.

Ignis Scientia was a man known for many things. To those who frequented the Citadel, he was known as the young retainer of Prince Noctis. To some of the staff serving the royal family, Ignis was known for having a magic touch when it came to the kitchen. To his peers, the young man was regarded as hardworking, refined, and immaculately patient.
He had to be, if he was dealing with the stubborn prince, after all.
But, if there was one thing Ignis Scientia wasn’t known for, it was for losing his composed front in public. You, however, were an exception.
As a relative of Prince Noctis, you were a frequent — though not necessarily unwelcome — presence at the Citadel. Every summer, without fail, you would pay a visit to your “Uncle Reggie” — who would always welcome you with “the best hug in all of Eos” — and play with your cousin Noctis.
Though not much for socializing, Noctis — for the most part, at least — often looked forward to your visits, if only because you could get him out of his tutoring sessions and other princely obligations. “I have to go entertain the princess,” he would say whenever you arrived. “Duty calls.”
Having Noctis avoid his lectures was a headache enough for Ignis on any normal day, but with you in the picture? It was nothing short of a nightmare for the young Scientia.
You were hard-headed (more so than Noct, which was a feat in itself), obnoxiously loud, and awfully careless in a palace such as the Citadel. Noctis would argue that you “lit up the place” with your endless supply of energy, but if Ignis were to be frank, he thought you were a bit too much for him.
Though you had no bearing on the throne, you were still royalty under the Lucis Caelum line. Thus, as a member of House Scientia, Ignis was bound to you regardless of how often you got on his nerves.
Which was pretty often, and you weren’t even at the Citadel for the entirety of the year.
“Hi, Iggy!” you chirped at him during one of your summer stay-ins at the Citadel. “Whatcha doin’?”
“Not you again,” Ignis muttered under his breath. Time and time again, he couldn’t fathom what it was about you that grated on his nerves. Was it the lack of control in the volume of your voice whenever you called at him? Was it how reckless you ran around the Citadel, thus posing as a threat to the many valuables that decorated the palace? Or was it simply because Ignis had merely accepted Noctis as his sole responsibility, and so the added weight of you in the picture only placed more pressure over his delicate shoulders?
Whatever it was, Ignis had to remind himself to retain his cool composure, lest you throw a tantrum and cause an even bigger ruckus at the Citadel.
“What was that?”
Ignis cleared his throat. “Nothing.” Adjusting his glasses, he regarded you coolly with a nod. “How may I help you, Princess?”
You beamed, thoroughly basking in the royal retainer’s attention. “Sleepy Boy’s taking his royal nap, and I’m bored! Wanna play with me?”
“I’m sorry, Princess, but I’ll have to decline,” Ignis replied. “I have other things I must attend to.”
“But-“
“You can wait for Prince Noctis in the gardens, if you’d like. I hear the lavenders are blooming this time of the year.”
“Ig-“
“I’ll see you at supper. Good day.”
With his back turned to you, Ignis had failed to notice the tears welling up in your eyes that day.
*
Despite the fact that Ignis was only a year older than you, his poise and elegance made you feel like you were always lightyears behind him. It was due to this that you looked up to him a lot — a confession you had confided in Noctis many times during your yearly visits.
“How does Iggy do it, Noct?” you had asked after the festivities for your 10th birthday had wrapped up. You had opted to celebrate the day with your favorite people (“Sleepy Boy and Iggy! Oh, and you too, Uncle Reggie!”), and in the aftermath of the festivities, you and the prince were sprawled on his bed, too worn out to even bother getting changed into sleepwear.
Glancing at you from his handheld gaming device, Noctis asked, “Do what?”
“Do everything!” you cried, flopping down next to your best friend. “He’s only one year ahead of me, but he seems so much more…”
“Ancient?”
“No!” You whacked Noctis on the head, earning you a snort from the prince. “More mature! Iggy is so mature! I wanna be like him someday.”
“I dunno (Name), being Iggy doesn’t seem like a lot of fun.”
You frowned, brows furrowing at Noctis’ comment. “Why not?”
“He’s always doing stuff that the adults do. All the boring things.”
“Isn’t he allowed to hang out with us and take a break?”
“He is,” Noctis insisted. “But he’s always acted more like mom to me than anything. I’ve never really seen him slack off. Not even once.”
“Huh.”
“Yeah.”
*
The next year, you made it a point to visit Noctis much earlier than your usual scheduled arrival in the summer. You had wanted to surprise Ignis on his birthday, and that was exactly what you did when you showed up at the Citadel several months earlier than expected.
“Hi, Iggy!” You wrapped your arms around him in greeting, ignoring how stiff he was at your embrace. “Happy birthday!”
“What are you doing here?” was all that came out of his mouth, but you were more focused on commemorating his birthday than dwelling on his lackluster response.
“I’m here to celebrate your birthday!” you replied happily, shoving a small box into his hands. “Sorry it’s only store-bought, but all the other cakes I tried to bake kinda… deflated, heh.”
Ignis offered a short bow. “I appreciate the sentiment, Princess, but I have a meeting to attend to.” He handed the box back into your grasp almost apologetically. “You can share that with Noct. I’m sure he will enjoy it immensely.” Turning on his heels, he nodded at you before offering a few more words. “I hope you enjoy your stay.”
And with that, he left you there, standing dumbfounded with a box of cake in your hands and a hurt heart in your chest.
*
When it was time for you to enter high school, you became a permanent fixture at the Citadel. At this age, Ignis had already grown accustomed to your rambunctious personality, though that wasn’t to say he particularly sought out your company on his own accord. He liked to think that he simply tolerated your presence.
You always wished he liked you more, though, especially with your growing feelings for him.
“No fair, Noct!” you whined. “Now that I get to stay here at the Citadel, you’re gonna go and leave me to find a place of your own?”
The prince rolled his eyes at your antics. “I’ve been stuck here all my life, (Name). Don’t you think it’s about time that I at least get some time away from home?” You pouted at him, which only caused Noctis to chuckle. “Don’t dwell on it too much. We still have a year together before I’m off to high school anyway.”
You sighed dramatically. “At least I’ll have Iggy all to myself while you’re gone.”
“Well,” he drawled, “not exactly.”
Your groan sounded more exaggerated than the norm. “He’s gonna trail after you even when you’re away?” you complained, crossing your arms in frustration. “How am I going to get to use my womanly charms on him now?”
Noctis blanched. “Hey, it’s not like I asked him to dote on me. And since when have you been a woman?”
“Since puberty, you dweeb!” You made a motion to smack him on the head, but after years of training, the prince’s reflexes were much quicker now. You made no comment on his fast movements, but you were definitely impressed — and a little proud — by how much Noctis had grown over the years.
“Really?” As proud as you were of Noctis, you had to admit that the smirk on his face was still a little annoying. “I hadn’t noticed.”
“Loser.”
“Brat.”
“Says the Sleepy Boy who gets cranky whenever he misses his nap.”
“I’ll have you know that we all need sleep to function properly.”
“Not in excess like you do, Sleepy Boy.”
And thus commenced a wrestling match between you and Noctis, your bitterness over his impending absence — and the lack of Ignis’ company, no less — long forgotten at the back of your mind.
*
High school was not what you thought it would be.
As a member of the royal family — never mind the fact that you weren’t even interested in inheriting the throne, nor were you even technically eligible to take over after King Regis, especially with Noctis having been groomed as the heir since his youth — many of your schoolmates flocked to you without any regard for your personal space.
Ignis had presumed you would have thrived in the spotlight, as revelling in people’s attention was something he had seen you enjoy during your many summers at the Citadel. It thus came as a surprise when, on what he was told was your first day in high school, you came knocking at his apartment door, looking rattled and frightened.
“Hi, Iggy,” you greeted shakily, your eyes lacking the usual mirth Ignis had always seen you carry. It was rather unnerving, having you suddenly show up at his doorstep looking all sullen and downcast. “Sorry for coming here unannounced. I didn’t know where to go, a-and…”
Your voice began to crack. Ignis was alarmed by the sudden manifestation of tears in your eyes; in all his years of watching over both you and Noctis, he had never been privy to your teardrops, so this was a sight that clenched at his heart rather unexpectedly.
“Please, come in.” He ushered you into his home, gingerly leading you to sit on the nearby sofa. “Tea?” he offered quietly, being careful not to aggravate your already bleak mood.
You shook your head. “No thanks. Can… can you just… stay here for a bit? With me?”
With the way you were looking at him so pleadingly — desperately — Ignis knew he wouldn’t be able to decline your request even if he wanted to.
What Ignis found rather odd, however, was that he didn’t want to deny you of your wish.
It had been a good while since the Royal Adviser last saw you. While he still wasn’t particularly fond of you, per se, his patience at least grew the older he became, and with it came a more formidable tolerance for your presence. He had a duty to the Lucis Caelum line — and in effect, to you — and he would stick to this commitment to the end of the line.
Today, though… today was decidedly different. For the very first time, he was seeing you not as a member of the royal family, but simply as you were: a young, vulnerable girl seeking comfort in his familiarity.
The two of you stayed there for the remainder of the evening. Not talking. Not touching. But you were together, and that was all you needed.
*
Ignis later found out from Noctis that your… episode on your first day of high school revealed your intolerance for crowds, especially with the likes of fanatic, hormonal teenagers — who wanted nothing but to rub elbows with royalty — swarming you left and right.
You had kept to yourself for the remainder of your high school life, but ever since that unforeseen visit to Ignis’, you noticed a drop in students harassing you on campus.
You liked to think that a certain Royal Adviser had something to do with the shift in treatment from your schoolmates.
Ignis never said anything about it. He deemed it unnecessary that you be aware of his involvement with campus officials and the warning words he had uttered regarding your safety and well-being.
You were his responsibility, after all.
*
A few days before Noctis was set to leave for Altissia, you decided to throw a party in celebration of not just his engagement, but your new assignment in Accordo as well. The small get-together — which consisted of you, Noctis, Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto — was mostly for your own enjoyment. You were being sent off to Altissia ahead of Noctis’ departure, so it would be a while before you would get to see your favorite people again.
“I don’t understand why you can’t just wait a while and come with us, (Name),” Prompto commented with a pout. “We’re all going the same direction anyway.”
You shrugged. “As they say: duty calls.” Taking a swig of your drink, you gestured for Gladio to pour more wine into your glass. “Besides, we’ll see each other soon enough. Don’t worry about it.”
“I think you should slow down on the drinks, (Name).” Noctis attempted to swipe your wine glass from your grasp, but just like the prince, your own reflexes had also improved over time. “Don’t want you hungover on the trip to Accordo tomorrow.”
“I’ll be fiiine,” you sang, leaning onto Gladio for support. “Live a little, Noct-Noct!”
“Prince Charmless is right,” Gladio said as he attempted to steady your swaying form. “Drink too much and you might fall asleep waiting for your boat.”
You scoffed. “If anyone’s falling asleep, it’ll be Sleepy Boy over here.” You poked Noctis on the nose, causing him to scrunch up his face almost reflexively. “You better not fall asleep before your wedding, Noct. Can’t keep sweet ol’ Luna waiting too long. She’ll be expecting a proper prince waiting for her at the altar!”
“Tell me something I don’t know.”
“We don’t have enough time for that,” Ignis deadpanned, causing the rest of your party to erupt in laughter.
As the night dwindled, your group fell into a comfortable silence. Noctis was already dozing off, while Gladio and Prompto were in their little corner, with the former teaching the blond a few “tricks” up his sleeve on how to “charm the women.”
That left you with Ignis.
“Hey, Iggy,” you called softly. “Could I talk to you for a minute? In private?”
Ignis was in the middle of taking Noctis’ glass from him — as his charge was bound to lose his grip on the drink, what with him going in and out of slumber — when you asked for him. “Certainly,” he said, and the two of you wandered off a little ways away from your friends.
“Can you believe it?” Your words broke the quiet between you and Ignis, the moon and stars serving as your spotlight. “Who would have thought that our Noct would go and get himself hitched? And to the Oracle, at that! I never even dreamed that he would be the first of us to get engaged, let alone start his way towards married life.”
“Indeed.” Ignis adjusted his glasses, a habit of his you had grown fond of over the years. “Granted, the engagement was brought on by the treaty, but regardless, it’s certainly enough reason to celebrate.”
You nodded in agreement. “Definitely.”
“So what was it you wanted to discuss, Princess?”
You felt yourself grow warm even beyond the effects of the alcohol in your system. Under Ignis’ intense stare, you couldn’t help but fidget a bit. The Royal Adviser had grown all the more refined in the past couple of years, making him even more attractive than he already was to begin with.
Not only did he now tower over you with his height, his jawline became more chiseled, giving him a sharper and much more striking face. You also took notice of how much his shoulders had broadened, providing him with a much more masculine build.
Simply put, Ignis Scientia was a work of art. That’s all there really was to it.
“I…” You gulped nervously. “There was something I wanted to tell you before I left.”
“Yes?”
It was now or never. “I… I love you, Ignis. I’m in love with you.”
You shut your eyes almost immediately, too scared of what Ignis’ reaction would be. Had you kept your eyes open, you would have registered the shock on his face. There were tellings of tenderness around his eyes at your confession, but you remained blissfully unaware as you waited with bated breath for his response.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity too long, Ignis spoke. “This is…”
“… yes…?”
“This is highly improper.”
Your stomach fell at his words, eyes opening in shock. “What… what do you mean?” Already, you could feel the tears threatening to make their appearance, but you willed yourself not to let them escape. Not yet. Not until he explained himself.
“What I mean is that you must dismiss this nonsense at once, Princess.”
“Nonsense?” you croaked, hurt by how savagely Ignis was taking this. “How is this nonsense? I love you, Ignis!”
The sharp glare Ignis had sent you that day would be burned into your mind forever. “No, you don’t. You’re not mature enough to know what you’re talking about, (Name).”
“And you are?” Though your tone was scathing, the stray tears that managed to leak from your eyes betrayed you. “I know you’re smarter than me, Ignis, but I’m not that far behind you in age.”
“What you manage to keep up in age speaks nothing of your wisdom, Princess.” He looked away from you, the deep frown seemingly aging him beyond his years. “You’re not in love with me. You’re drunk.”
“Stop calling me that!” you snapped, rubbing at your eyes furiously. What was going on with Ignis? Your gentle, sweet, patient Iggy? “Don’t tell me what I feel, Ignis! I’m sober enough to know what it is that I feel for you, and it’s love! I love you! Why can’t you accept that?”
“Why can’t you accept rejection when you see it, Princess?”
You fell silent at his remark. The tears were flowing freely now, and you did nothing to conceal them any longer. Defeatedly, with your voice barely over a whisper, you uttered, “Why do you hate me?”
“I don’t-“
“You do,” you asserted tearfully. “You’ve never liked me. Even when we were kids, you’ve always hated me, Iggy.”
“Princess…”
“But me?” You laughed mockingly, the chuckles being drowned by your overpowering sorrow. “I’ve always loved you.”
That was the last Ignis saw of you, for the next time you met, his eyes could comprehend nothing but darkness.
His only regret was having your heartbroken face — from pain that he had been the source of — as his final memory of your time together before everything fell apart.
*
Several things revolved around Ignis’ mind as he processed the loss of his eyesight. What use was he now if he couldn’t even see his prince? Would he ever be able to cope? How was Noctis handling the passing of Lunafreya?
No matter what he thought of, though, you continued to remain at the fore of his mind.
He wondered where you were now. After that night, you had left for Accordo very early in the morning. Ignis had failed to see you off, as did the rest of his companions, Noctis included. It was as if you had made it a point to avoid all of them on the day of your departure.
He couldn’t blame you if you were avoiding him specifically, especially after how badly he had handled your confession.
The silver lining in your prompt expedition to Accordo was the fact that you were safe from the fall of Insomnia. Ignis at least had that to tide his worries over for the time being, though it did nothing to ease the gaping hole in his heart at his actions from your final conversation.
He had attempted to contact you countless times during the duration of his travel to Altissia with Noctis and the rest of their party. In spite of his efforts, you were adamant in rejecting his calls, though this was of no surprise to Ignis. Noctis, Prompto, and even Gladio had tried calling you as well — and they were especially consistent after they caught wind of Niflheim’s betrayal — but they were always redirected to either the dial tone or your voice mail.
You were simply unreachable.
“I pray that you are safe, Princess,” Ignis whispered softly into the air as he wobbled off the edge of his bed. He reached out for his walking stick, feeling the frustration of everything that had occurred become incredibly overwhelming. “There is so much I have left unsaid.”
*
“I told him not to fall asleep before his wedding.” Though your message was said in jest, your watery voice was telling enough of the grief you felt. “But did he listen? Of course he didn’t. That stupid Sleepy Boy.”
“Yeah.” Prompto chuckled sadly, wiping a tear from his eye. “That’s Noct for ya.”
“He’ll be back soon,” Gladio said, though the waver in his confidence was painfully obvious. “Or I’ll bring him here myself.”
You sniffed and turned towards the one who had remained silent during your tearful reunion. “And what about you, Iggy? I swear to the Astrals above, you really spoil Noct too much. Now look where it got you!”
Ignis frowned, expecting a comment or two on his eyesight. Or rather, his lack thereof. You were sure to offer pity for his handicap. In fact, he even expected you to mock him as a means of retaliating over the hurt he had lashed out on you that fateful night. It wasn’t even that long ago when you went your separate ways, and yet, it felt almost as if decades had come and gone since then.
He would have accepted any form of punishment from you, really, so long as it would mean he could obtain your forgiveness once and for all.
But, it seemed some things never did change, including the way you had never failed to render Ignis speechless and catch him off guard. What you said next made his cheeks burn — a sensation he never thought he would ever be able to feel anymore, particularly at this point in time when everything seemed bleak and hopeless.
“Look at what you’ve done to yourself.” Your voice was so sweet and so gentle, it made Ignis want to cry. The delicate graze of your fingers over his damaged face made him shiver in delight. “Not to worry. Scars or no, you’re still a work of art to me, Iggy!” Lowering your voice enough for just the two of you to hear, you murmured, “I’ll always love you no matter what.”
Everyone thought Ignis broke down into a heaping mess in your arms as his way of grieving for Noctis, but what no one knew was that he was crying over the love you still held for him even after all this time.
*
With the lack of communication between the two of you since your disappearance, Ignis had barely held onto any hope of possibly finding you again.
And yet, here you were, safe and sound with the rest of civilization at Lestallum. Not only did you look well — rather, you sounded well to Ignis’ ears, at the very least — you had even welcomed him into your loving embrace.
He knew he was entirely undeserving of your kindness and affection, especially with the memory of how he treated you still haunting him, but he allowed himself this momentary reprieve of selfishness. Just this once, Ignis gave himself this small window of putting his own needs before anyone else’s.
He needed you, and here you were, ready and waiting to catch him at any given moment.
“Shh, Iggy, you’re okay,” you cooed into his ears that night. At that very moment, Ignis knew he could go on — blind or otherwise — so long as he had you to lead him through the darkness.
Had you always sounded this angelic, or was his improved hearing warping his memory of your voice?
Or, could it be that he was hearing you not through brand new ears due to his lack of vision, but through the new development of his endearment towards his princess?
“You’re safe, Iggy, you’re safe,” you repeated like a mantra as you soothed his distress with your presence alone. You combed your fingers through his tresses as he held onto you desperately, not ready to face reality just yet. “We’re here. You’re not alone, Iggy. We’re here. We can do this.”
Ignis knew that you, too, were crying as well. He caught the soft whimpers that were scattered between your warm assurances. Even then, he couldn’t bring himself to be strong enough for the two of you for the time being.
Here, in your arms, he was safe, and he wasn’t ready to let go of the safety you provided just yet.
*
None of you addressed Ignis’ breakdown that night. It was a breakthrough for sure, but if Ignis chose not to bring it up, then neither were any of you going to forcefully pick at the wound he had opted to bury.
With both Noctis and Lunafreya absent, darkness surged into the everyday. Ignis, ironically, was one of the first to adjust into this nightmare of a world. He had lost his vision a little before the darkness took over, after all, so the lack of daylight didn’t make much of a difference to him.
What did make a difference was your constant companionship.
Ignis had yet to formally discuss that dreadful night before your trip to Accordo. He owed you more than an apology at this point, and yet, he kept mum, faltering at each opportunity whenever you greeted him with that sunny disposition of yours.
“How do you do it, Princess?” Ignis had asked one day, nearly a year into this life of darkness.
“Do what, Iggy?”
“How have you kept your light so brilliant all this time?” He readjusted his grip on his walking stick as he felt you settle yourself next to him. “Not even Prompto has managed to remain this bright, and he has always been the most cheerful out of all of us.”
You slipped your hand into one of his gloved ones, giving it a squeeze before explaining, “Well, I gotta be the light for you, Iggy. It’s the least I can do while all of you are out there fighting to protect us.”
“But why me?”
“Why not you?”
“I don’t deserve your compassion, Princess.”
“Of course you do! What you don’t deserve is getting your eyesight taken from you, but you’ve always been the selfless one, so I guess I’ll let that slide.” You released his hand in order to caress his face. “You best believe Noct’s gonna get a whipping from me when I see him! He owes you big time.”
“He owes me nothing. I live in his servitude.”
“Well, I guess that’s always been the case, but still-“
“However, I do owe you an apology.”
“Huh?” Your light touches on his face halted. “An apology for what?”
“An apology for how I treated you that night before you left for Accordo,” Ignis explained, a hint of regret lining his words. “I handled the situation inappropriately, and I hurt you in the process.” He blindly reached out for your hands, and you met him halfway, offering your grasp in his shaky one. “For that, I beg for your forgiveness.”
“Iggy, it’s okay. I… I got over it a long time ago. I shouldn’t have sprung something so big on you before I left anyway.”
“Regardless, I am deeply remorseful for how I treated you that night, (Name). You did not deserve to have your feelings regarded so poorly, least of all by someone such as myself.”
Much like that night, silence enveloped the two of you for a few agonizing moments. Ignis sat there, waiting patiently for what you had to say. Eventually, you let out a sigh, leaning a little into his side.
“Can I ask you something then, Iggy?”
“Go ahead, Princess.”
“You… did you ever really…” You were struggling to find the right words. Ignis gave you the push you needed by wrapping his arm around you. “I always felt like you hated me, Iggy. Did you?”
His answer was instantaneous. “Never.”
“Then how come you were always so… how come you always gave me the cold shoulder?” You traced patterns into his thigh as you said this, and Ignis struggled to focus on your words more than the tantalizing feel of your touch. “I mean, I always knew your duty was to Noct, and I was never jealous about that or anything, but…” Another sigh. “Why is it that you were never really friendly with me? And why… why were you so adamant about shutting me down when I confessed to you that night?”
There it was. The hurdle Ignis had to face if he wanted to garner your forgiveness.
“Truth be told, Princess, I was young and naive, and I simply did not know how to handle two Nocts at once.”
“Hey! I object!” you exclaimed. It wasn’t long before your protests fell into a brief wave of giggles. “Yeah, we were a handful together, weren’t we?”
“I wasn’t always as wise as you thought me to be.”
“Still, you were pretty mature for your age. I always admired you for that.”
Ignis felt himself blush at your praise. “As for that night…” He took a deep breath before turning to you. With his lack of vision, Ignis tried to keep his gaze trained towards what he surmised were your eyes. “I… I was afraid, to be frank.”
“Afraid?”
“The very idea of having a member of the royal family hold a great deal of intimate fondness for me in such a manner was terrifying. I did not consider it to be appropriate for me to pursue any inklings of romance with you, especially with my obligations to Noct.”
It took you a few moments to process what he said. “I see.”
“Unfortunately, I was much too brash in my dismissal of your feelings. I was blinded by fear to even consider a possibility with you. You may think me mature, but at the time, I was anything but. I was frightened by the prospect of having to entertain my already conflicting feelings for you.”
Ignis’ voice began to falter, but he continued nevertheless. “Since then, I have lived in regret over my actions. If I had opted to voice my thoughts better, then perhaps we could have…” He shakily reached out for your face, surprised to feel wetness seeping into his gloves. “I am truly sorry. Please, please don’t cry, Princess.”
“S-sorry.” You hastily wiped away your tears, only for Ignis to beat you to it. Instead, you clung onto his hands, which cupped your face in a tender hold. “Sorry, hah. I guess I’m still an emotional mess, huh?”
“There is no need for apologies, Princess. You are sublime just the way you are.”
“Ignis, I…” Your grip tightened around his hands. “I still love you. I love you, Ignis. I love you.” You couldn’t help but cry now, the sound of your wails tearing into Ignis’ heart. “I-I’m-I’m sorry, you don’t have to reciprocate or anything. I just… I just wanted you to know that I never stopped. I never stopped loving you, Ignis.”
How? How had you remained so unwavering in your devotion to him even after he had hurt you so? He didn’t deserve you.
The look of sadness on Ignis’ face made your chest tighten painfully. “I don’t deserve to be loved. Not by you. Never by you.”
“Ignis, no-“
“You deserve everything, Princess,” he said brokenly. “I can’t give you anything. Not anymore.”
“Ignis,” you interjected, “I know you’re blind, but don’t you see? You are my everything. You always have been.”
Ever so gently, you pressed your lips to his, finally breaking through the last of the walls around his heart. To your utmost joy, Ignis gave in and matched your passion.
Propriety be damned, he at least deserved this one thing, didn’t he? His entire life had been dedicated to Noctis and the royal family. For once — just this once — he could let his guard down, could he not? Did he not deserve his own piece of joy as well?
Surely he was allowed to find a happily ever after with you, right?
Fervently, Ignis melted into your kiss, expressing all the dormant feelings he had suppressed over the years.
With his lips merely a whisper away, you murmured, “Will you say it, Ignis? Do you love me?”
“Always. Forever.” His lips sought yours in a frantic dance. “I love you.”
*
Noctis wanted to say he was surprised when he found you and Ignis, many years later, sporting matching bands on your left ring fingers. However, he knew such a union had been a long time coming, even before he was absorbed into the crystal.
“About time, Specs,” the prince — now king — said. He turned to you, gaze turning just a touch softer. “Your womanly charms worked, eh?”
“At least I made it down the aisle,” you quipped, though your damp eyes were evident even in the darkness. “You just dozed off, like I knew you would. You always were one to oversleep, Sleepy Boy.”
“Hey, I’m back now, aren’t I?”
“Better late than never, I suppose,” Ignis remarked with a small smile. “Good to have you back, Noct.”
“Good to be back. Did the princess behave while I was gone, Iggy?”
Your laugh was watery. “Are you forgetting that I’m older than you?”
“It’s only by a year, (Name).”
“That still means she has 365 days over you, buddy,” Prompto teased. “You’ve been gone so long that she’s eons ahead of you now.”
“You’re making it sound like (Name)’s an old granny,” Gladio said, giving Prompto a light punch on the shoulder.
“I will be in no time!” you joked. “Having Noct as family really ages you prematurely.”
“Tell me about it,” Ignis added, joining in on the banter.
“How’d you do it, Iggy?” Prompto asked, the air surrounding Hammerhead feeling lighthearted for once thanks to the return of Noctis. “How’d you survive looking after these two all this time and lived to tell the tale?”
Ignis’ gaze turned much warmer as he glanced in your direction. “Unwavering perseverance is a must in this job, Prompto. I’m only fortunate enough to have learned from the best.”
He might not have seen it, but Ignis could feel just how brilliant your smile was at that moment.
A smile that was reserved just for him. All for him.

Homesick
FFXV boy x gn reader
Tumblr media
"So, we're going to see your sister?" You ask the taller man sitting next to you, nose deep into one of his books.
"Yes we are, I need to see if she has anymore info for us about what happened in the city" he side eyes you.
"I got that, but, the last time we went there, we got attacked by giant crabs and almost froze to death" you nudge him with your elbow. "I still shiver because of that dungeon"
"Well, we aren't going down there, so you can keep your mittens in your pocket" he moves you away. You pull out your phone and lean your back against Noctis while putting using Gladio as a leg rest. At this point, you have done this so much that they don't even argue with this action. You go through some of the pictures in your gallery.
The start of it was dumb pictures of the boys while driving, but scrolling further are pictures you had taken while still at home. You go through them, sighing and feeling yourself frown. Some one speaks up, "Why the long face Y/N?" You perk up to see Prompto looking at you through the rear view mirror.
"Ah it's nothing, just missing home a little" you wave it off. He saddens at your response turning to looking at Ignis before pulling out his phone, seemingly texting someone. You decide to just focus on the road, not wanting to make yourself sadder.
You pull into the Lestallum gas station and Ignis smoothly parks, showing why he drives most of the time. "So, Ignis, Prompto, and I will gather supplies so we don't die the next time we go hunt, you and Gladio will go meet up with his sister" Noctis instructs, pointing at each person respectively and giving everyone but you a certain look.
You nod and playfully salute then walking toward the hotel she was staying at, with Gladio following closely behind.
"So, nerd, how have you been doing?" He asks out of nowhere. You look at him confused. He put his phone that he apparently had out back in his pocket.
"We've been in close quarters for the past, however long, I feel like you would know"
"That's physically, I have no idea what's going on in that head of yours" he responds, knocking on your head. You push his hand away.
"Firstly, ow, you have the strength of a fucking bear. You can't be messing with my noggin" you start while holding the top of your head. "Secondly, I've been as okay as I can be when I'm being chased by daemons everyday. Although I've been a little homesick" you finished while a slight frown.
"Understandable, but it's worth it to protect princey boy" he gestures behind the both of you. You shrug in response.
"Yeah it is, but I do enjoy the calm moments. Hanging out with my best buds" you smile at him, bumping the mullet man with your hip. He pushes you a little harder in response, then you push him back. This continues until you both get to the hotel.
"Are you gonna get your own place soon? This hotel is fairly expensive" you ask looking at Iris while hugging one of the pillows in the room.
"I do have a place, it's just getting set up. I'll be out here by the weekend" she gives you a small smile before resuming the convo with her brother. Why did Noctis even tell you to go see Iris? You listen to their conversation a little more before standing up.
"Hey dudes? I'm gonna head back to the regalia, probably catch up on some sleep" you say and start to walk to the door.
"NO!" Iris yells, grabbing you by the shoulders, stopping you.
"Am I not allowed to go to the car I'm napping in most days?" You question her actions.
"No! I mean yes! It's just...I have to show you both something!" She keeps confusing herself. You shake off her hands.
"Yeah I heard about it, sounds cool" Gladio comments looking nonchalant.
"...okay then, lead the way" you step to the side and let Iris take you and Gladio to this mysterious location.
"Okay Iris, we've passed this shop enough times that the owner is looking at us weird, where are we going?" You ask with a yawn following after.
"Don't worry sleepyhead, we're almost there" she makes a very tight turn, making you wobble a bit. You all stop at a large apartment complex.
"Uh, is this where your place is?" you ask yawning again. Iris nods excitedly.
"Yup! I just really wanted you guys to see the space!" She grabs your hand a runs into the building. Sometimes she is too excited for your brain to handle.
You stop at a door on the 3rd floor with you gasping for air. "Did...we...have to...run?" You ask, panting in between words.
"Well no, but I was just excited for you to see this" she says while unlocking the door, opening it.
"See what? A half empty apartme-"
SURPRISE!!
The boys are in the apartment holding up food, your favorite foods to be exact. Iris pushes you into the room. "Guys? W-what is this?" You ask tearing up a bit.
"We all heard you were homesick so we decided to do something for you" Gladio says from behind you. You sniffle and try to hold back tears.
"That's so sweet, I love you guys so much" you open your arms and hug them all. Just happy that they care for you that much.
"Alright enough sappy shit, we should eat" Gladio pulled away picking up one of the platters setting it down on the table nearby.
"Hey Iggy, I can trust you made all of it?" You ask, setting up the table.
"Of course! I know you well, I had these recipes written down for awhile" Ignis answers while pushing his glasses up.
"I'm glad, it means a lot to me" you give a sweet smile and fill up your plate getting ready to spend a nice evening with the people you care the most about.
Honestly Iris was dragging you around in a circle:

Faded Colours
So, hello again, I'm gonna keep putting things out of my system.
This poor character only got the worst hand. Let's try a one-shot.
"Don't you have someone else to bother?" you said, looking at the horizon.
"I do, but I like the way you always make me feel welcome," he answered, walking from behind you, with that unbereable smirk of his.
You hummed and let out a small laugh. "You're a pain in the ass, Ardyn."
"Perhaps, but I entertain you." He stood next to you. The sun was about to set completely.
"Perhaps," you said, trying to imitate his voice.
A moment of quiet went between you watching the sunset. He had been paying this little visits to you for some weeks ago, coming out of nowhere, and was rare for him to remain silent. He always had some stupid thing to say about anything, specially about your friends.
"You are unusually quiet today," you finally said. "No jokes or uncontrollable sarcasm?"
He chuckled and made a pause.
"This is a farewell." He said with a deep voice you never heard before.
You turned your head to look at him. A serene expression in his face, the smile not fading away completely and his eyes fixed in the horizon.
"So you're finally leaving?" you asked.
"You say it like you want me to leave." He said and turned his head, placing his gaze on yours.
"Perhaps," you said with a grin, turning your head to the sunset again. "But I have to admit that I'm going to miss you."
"Oh, is that so?" joining you in the view of the red and purple sky. "I'm flattered."
You chuckled, but the gesture turned into a sad smile. Maybe you were going to miss this chats after all.
He let out a sigh. "Despite how much I desire for this world to fall apart, I must admit that your presence made my final days here less hideous."
You huffed and made a ironic smile. "That's the most beautiful thing that someone has ever said to me."
"Well, you've been in a terrible company." He said, tilting his head a little.
You laughed. The sky was completely purple now, the shades of blue appearing. In a few minutes the night would cover everything.
"Despite the bastard you are," you said, trying to sound formal, but now lowering your voice, "it has been a pleasure to meet you."
The conversations with Ardyn, although plagued by mockery and humorous offenses against Noctis and the others, were always interesting and, to a certain extent, transcendental.
You never knew why he decided to start doing this with you since you met him, but, although you feared him the first few times, now you waited for him almost every afternoon.
"It's curious how life gives and takes from us," he said, sounding suddenly profound. "And in the end, ourselves is all that remains. Facing the final alone as we came."
You just stared at him, he facing up looking at the few stars that were beginning to shine. An odd feeling of sadness overwhelming you.
"But today I feel... less alone." he added, and turned to look at you, smiling. Then he straight his posture, "the pleasure has been all mine," doing that ridiculous bow of his taking off his hat.
You let out a soft chuckle. Feeling empathy for someone like him made you question yourself at first, but with the passing of days, and conversations, you understood that crossing the line he crossed is quite easy in the right conditions.
"I know you're gonna be here pestering me tomorrow," you said with a half smile. The sky was dark blue.
He smiled back. "Better go find refuge, my dear," walking backwards. His figure starting to fading away in shadows, but not his gaze and his smile. "The night has come."
