Vivosaur fights akin to wrestling, in the sense the fight is more so a spectacle than a real fight, with trainers that are more so actors

More so a headcanon thing, but like, if a wild vivosaurs gets defeated, as they have no disk to return to with their DNA saved on it, they crumble back into a pile of fossils, which are then completely unusable

Some people holding onto old unusable fossils from a lost vivosaur or another sentimental reason, and keeping them exposed

Market places that allow you to straight up buy fossils (usually less refined and sometimes a bit broken up- more so for regular people than professional fossil fighters)

People walking around with their vivos just super casually

Some vivos being, alas, forbidden to enter certain places or walking around in public places at all

People that refuse to put their vivos back in their disk, people that have areas specifically made for their vivosaurs: garages, basements, gardens arranged to be a place for their vivo to rest and get food

Imagine if a vivosaur got killed when it was still a dinosaur by another dinosaur, and coincidentally comes face to face with the specific dinosaur (bow revived as a vivosaur) that killed it. The grudge

I like that we’ve done a proper dissection of Pickle’s potential family tree. From mate, to sister, and now daughter. Somewhere in the ancient mountains they’ll probably find a gigantic fossilized block and it’ll turn out to be Pickle’s mom of ridiculous size (like Sidon next to King Dorephan from BotW). Jokes aside, the Internet seems to agree that Pickle is in his 20s from the young facial features and general life expectancy, so his daughter would be rather young.

Featuring Pickle’s challengers and his daughter that seems to take after him in personality.

The news of a prehistoric human were too great to not make their way to all media outlets, though the scientists had managed to conceal your existence for the sake of privacy. They didn’t want a poor, confused child to be surrounded by microphones and cameras the second you landed. What the research team didn’t anticipate was that a bunch of dangerous men would sneak into Pickle’s provisional enclosure in order to measure up his strength. When Doppo broke out of the fake T.Rex and spotted the scattered toys on the floor, he could feel the bile kicking at the back of his throat. “Stop! There’s a child in here!” His voice boomed across the room and the fighters froze. Yuujirou glanced at him, incredulous, and was about to question his sanity when a small figure emerged from the carved tree trunk.

As a loving father himself, Doppo was ashamed to have potentially endangered this innocent soul. He demanded that the men exit the premises at once, and most complied without much protest. The Ogre, however, didn’t like the idea of leaving empty handed. He doesn’t care about his own damn children, why should he concern himself with an unrelated brat? He proceeded to break the security glass, ignoring the pleas of common decency. At that point Pickle was standing next to you, completely unbothered by the scene unraveling before him. He looked at you with an encouraging smile, and with the approval of your father confirmed, you didn’t waste any more time. You rushed towards the intruder and took a swing at him.

The remaining men prepared their stances, ready to shield you from Yuujirou’s anger. He observed your reaction after hitting him. His muscles were hard and the recoil shot through your entire arm. How exciting. You were gleaming with youthful enthusiasm. Yuujirou couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. Now that was a child made for battle. He lowered his large hand and ruffled your hair vigorously. You didn’t entirely understand the gesture, but you grinned at the stranger, flashing your chiseled fangs.

At least one worry has been cleared: fights leave you unfazed. They won’t have to hold back when challenging Pickle. Retsu is somewhat worried at the idea of a child whose main form of entertainment is violence. Katsumi shares a similar train of thought, although he’s quick to be charmed by your cheers and curiosity towards his martial arts. Baki finds you cute and captivating. Both him and Jack like to joke that you’re the child Yuujirou would’ve wanted. You abruptly showed up one day and potentially cleared them of the Hanma inheritance. Not that such matters interest you. You might be a fighting prodigy in the eyes of these men, but you prefer your role as Pickle’s dauntless daughter.

Fossil Fighters: Revival, an overview

So, what would a redux of this game look like, were I to be in charge of one?

So glad you asked!

The Revival would hit most of the same story beats and the skeleton of the story will largely be the same, the game is just going to essentially be HEAVILY expanded upon.

All the dig sites will be given their own gimmick that has its own major side quest, normally accompanied by a minigame.

Customization will be expanded upon, the major upgrade being a female player option!

Along with the female player option (bc Nintendo's default is straight, not saying mine has to be but I digress), certain NPCs will be expanded upon (cough HOLT) and some might even step into that romantic route that Duna and Rosie have (cough HOLT). I *would* put Raptin in as a love interest, but I have different plans for that guy. For now, just know that more characters will be added to the roster for us to chew on ;)

The tone of the game won't shift all that much, this is still the goofy shenanigan fossil game, though don't be surprised if I take the creative freedom Fossil Fighters gives me and I run with it

The main story beats will stay largely the same, though the way they unfold may differ because of what's changed.

Also, I'm totally open for people sharing headcanons, ideas, ocs, wtv strikes your fancy that this thought bubble inspires you to do, go for it!

Weird Dog Breed Asks

Bull Terrier: What are your favorite places to hang out/go on dates with your F/O(s)? Do you have any special date traditions?

Azawakh: Tell me an unusual HC you have for your F/O(s)! LGBTQ+, neurodiversity, race/ethnicity…and/or something weird and random! Like what color they like to paint their toenails!

Brewster:

Bull Terrier: The Roost is a given, considering his job. But we also love going to any K.K. Slider concerts or Dr. Shrunk’s standup when Brewster is off work.

Overall, it can be hard to plan specific dates due to his schedule. But when we do, we make sure it’s super special. Such as requesting “our songs” during K.K’s jam sessions!

Azawakh: This isn’t exactly a surprise, but Brewster is ABSOLUTELY autistic. It takes him a while to warm up to those he meets, but he definitely latches onto those who take the time to know him. Also, he is the king of penguin pebbling. Oh? You like fossils? Here’s 10 mugs with different fossils on them.

King Dice:

Bull Terrier: One thing is guaranteed when you begin dating The Devil’s Right Hand Man. You’ll be painting the town red every night! We love going to Inkwell Isles best jazz clubs, The Fly Trap, pool halls, and high-class restaurants. Although, it is nice to have a casual night in every now and then.

Azawakh: Now Kingie is an interesting character to look at for this ask specifically. Going off his character design and inspiration (with Cab Calloway), he’s absolutely a black toon. His dice head is obviously white but his skin is a dark tan.

He was in a relationship with The Devil for quite a while, but ended up separating for a less complicated work environment. He’s still bitter over how Devil’s compassion dropped. And if we’re going with general fun headcanons/facts, he takes a lot of pride in keeping his dice shiny. It’s a some form of beauty or trade secret that I’ve yet to learn.

Olive Oyl:

(Aww, I need to give my queen more attention and go rewatch some old Popeye stuff!)

Bull Terrier: Considering how the fellas clamber over her, I like to spend time with her when the sun goes down. We usually sit on the dock as the moon shines over Sweethaven. But when it is daytime, we usually catch a matinee at the Thimble Theatre or go down to the Rough House cafe!

Azawakh: Despite what more popular media will show, Olive is quite the fighter (this is actually canon, go look it up!) and has honed her boxing skills. And although my s/i oc is the more butch presenting in the relationship, Olive likes to fluctuates her style from femme to butch as well.

Columbo:

Bull Terrier: Similarly to Brewster, it’s hard to take time off with Frank. It can be especially hard to coordinate date nights. But we don’t mind! Sometimes, the most romantic thing is just to lay on the couch, watch I Love Lucy or Bette Davis movie re-runs, and stroke his fluffy hair.

When we do go out, we usually go to an authentic Italian restaurant or a buffet. The best way to Columbo’s heart is through his stomach!

Azawakh: Buckle up because I have SO. MANY. THOUGHTS. First of all, he is T4T. In college, he got top surgery by an unqualified med student and his scars are unique and a bit gnarled because of that. His family is interfaith, with his parents being Catholic and my version of Mrs. Columbo’s family being Jewish. Even though he struggles with his schedule, he tries his best to give special attention to his family when he does. Speaking of special attention, he does like getting a manicure every now and then. He may struggle with grubbiness, but he still has standards. It’s even better if we make it into a fun family/couples activity!

He also absolutely weaponizes his neurodivergence on cases. Good for him.

Maxwell Klinger:

Bull Terrier: For the love of Allah, PLEASE GET THIS MAN BACK TO TOLEDO!! HE WON’T STOP TALKING ABOUT TAKING ME TO A MUD HENS GAME—

But in all seriousness, Klinger plans dates perfectly. No matter the location. During the war, he’d definitely set up special rendezvous in his tent, with all the special touches he can give with what little he has. He’d even ask me out on a date to the mess tent or to a random screening of whatever film they get this month. The dates once the war was over were a lot more varied as far as activity, but he always makes sure they’re fun.

Azawakh: Similarly to Columbo, I have thoughts™️. Considering the era, he doesn’t have the words to exactly describe his identity, which would probably align with genderqueer. But the details don’t matter, his gender is just a vibe overall. He is however bisexual, with a slight lean towards women. And as for what color he paints his toenails? He’d normally use Flame D’Amour, but he also enjoys it when I pick out random colors. I think light pink and the occasional yellow are really pretty.

some quick queer fossil fighters headcanons

-Several vivosaurs have been treated throughout the ages as queer icons. Generally, dromaeosauridae, particularly Dilopho, Breme, and Nychus, are seen as representative of all forms of queerness. Moreover, Aopteryx, Proto, and Guam, who are gifted with the ability to transform into yet more glorious iterations of themselves, are commonly used in trans iconography. Shanshan tends to be used as a transmasc icon solely, while Guam is usually used for transfem iconography. Aopteryx is used dually as a generalised trans icon and as a representation of nonbinary Fossil Fighters. Also; Sinopteryx is often incorporated into lesbian iconography.

-Most assume that Holt, for his love of V-raptor, would be gay. They're not wrong that he's queer, but his specific brand of queerness is asexuality.

-Dinaurians have more complex chromosomes than humans, so have their own approach to classifying both sex and gender. While there exist both female and male Dinaurian phenotypes, these phenotypes don't always match with their BC/CC chromosome distributions—environmental influence plays a far greater part in Dinaurian than human puberty, so BC males and females both exist, as do CC males and females, and BC and CC intersex Dinaurians. While Dinaurian standards of masculinity and femininity exist, they present more guidelines than cultural imperatives—as such, many Dinaurians fit into neither box socially or biologically, and this is broadly considered normative. Human ideas of straightness, gayness, and bisexuality thus don't always translate well into Dinaurian culture, as the idea of inherently being attracted to especially stringent expressions of certain chromosomal phenotypes just doesn't compute when those phenotypes aren't straightforward. -Near the Hare Club, Cranial Isle has a small hangout room labelled 'the Aopteryx Club'. It's a de facto space for trans Fossil Fighters to meet up and trade anecdotes, and Terry insists on setting aside a portion of the Fighter Station housekeeping budget to make sure the Aopteryx Club is furnished as well as possible.

-Terry is gay, and Cole is a bisexual who long assumed himself to be the sole queer man worth his own attention. The two attended highschool together, and slowly, ever so slowly, have been seen becoming more and more affectionate with each other in public.

-Lola is nonbinary and aroace, but doesn't tend to mention her gender identity unless asked. She's seldom felt quite comfortable with they/them pronouns, but considers herself human before she considers herself in any way female. Though she's ace, she absolutely adores gossiping about others' love lives, and has made every effort possible to nudge Cole closer to Terry.

-Lester is nonbinary and transmasc (he/they pronouns). He and Lola spend a great deal of time making music after hours at the Aopteryx club.

-Pauleen and Dina are lesbian. Oh so very lesbian. Dina is usually entirely oblivious to any male expressions of attraction towards her. Pauleen is not oblivious when men adore her, but tends to be upfront about seldom returning feelings.

-Rupert and Dino are gay. Oh so very gay. From a marketing perspective, Rupert's father didn't disapprove of his son's sexuality—rather, he despised his son's choice in partner, and feared that Rupert and Dino's public affection for each other would drive away potential clients for FossilDig. Rupert managed to allay most of his father's worries by pointing out that FossilDig could likely buy into rainbow capitalism more now, but look less conspicuous doing so. Nevertheless, Rupert's father remained too stuffy to follow through on such a business venture, and pride month sales remain anodyne. Joe Wildwest, meanwhile, not only dotes on his son, but has been absolutely vocal about LGBT rights since he noticed that Dino was gay. 'Noticed', rather than 'was told', since Dino never really came out—he just happened to have a first crush on a male, rather than female, classmate, and the family rolled with it from there.

-In the Patrol Team, Todd is the token straight on thin ice.

-P. A. Leon is gloriously and gorgeously aroace. Though she dated as a young woman, she came to realise she better enjoyed time spent alone with her Kraftwerk and Gary Numan records than time spent together with partners. Her team comprises solely dromaesauridae, and as such, long before she used the term 'asexual' on radio, many celebrated her apparent queerness.

-Diggins and Beth are both trans, and Diggins was the first person to popularise Aopteryx as a symbol of transness.

-Joe describes himself as straight, but also swoons over 70s & 80s rockstars. He's as straight as a 70s rockstar can be—that is, functionally bicurious at minimum. An, uh, 'extremely devoted ally'.

-Though Stryker gives extremely little away to the press, he's always been openly gay. It's not something he's ever wished to conceal; as such, he's the first openly queer head of the Wardens.

-Dahlia and Penny are probably the most prominent resident sapphic couple at INTERFOL.

Okay finally following up with my FF Dog post with a dedicated sapient dog headcanon list/ideas for playable dog protagonist in a theoretical Fossil Fighters 4

So for starters, Sapient Dogs just…exist. Their appearance in Earth’s timeline can be best described as “roughly sometime after the split between wolves and dogs became notably obvious.” I’m leaving it purposely vague.

Early humans kinda saw some of their dogs pick up on the whole “tool usage” thing and decided to encourage it because what’s better than a big fluffy friend that can help you hunt and keep you company? A big fluffy friend with a KNIFE that can help you hunt and keep you company AND competently use said knife.

Sapient Dogs (I really need a better name for them than just Sapient Dogs) have their own established cities and countries.

Nomadistan is not weird because it’s run by dogs. Nomadistan is weird because it is run by a MONARCHY of dogs. Almost every other place with canine leaders is a democracy, which is why the Patrol Team in champions was caught off-guard by this fact.

Wyoming is real, and there are many dog-run cities there. It’s very nice.

Sapient Dogs are similar to normal dogs in almost every way aside from the fact that they (1) have their own language called Doglish and (2) have very slightly different neurologies and cranial anatomies from normal dogs that assisted in their sapience.

Sapient dogs stand out from normal dogs in normal society by having their own style of clothing made with being able to cling onto scents in mind. They otherwise will typically wear clothes like bandannas, scarfs, bracelets, pretty much anything that isn’t a stereotypical dog collar.

In more human-dense areas, dog fashion may consist of shirts or Long Shirts/gowns. Rex wears a full body suit because it’s to the only way to contain his true power.

Attempts to wear clothing made by humans tends to be uncomfortable since “dog clothes” made to dress up domesticated dogs don’t allow for an easy cling for their natural scents. Some Sapient Dogs, especially those with short hair, are able to tolerate it, like Rex and Princess Pooch.

Dogs that are also Fossil Fighters will often use their paws to dig up their fossils. They also will dress more casually since an entire dog carrying a Fossil Sonar and a bag of fossils is a pretty good indicator that your local canine is a fighter and not somebody’s pet. Obviously Princess Pooch was an exception since she was pretending to be a normal dog for a bit.

Dinaurians don’t know what to think of Sapient Dogs. They can understand how the human ancestors got where they are, but the evolution that had to occur for the appearance of Sapient Dogs baffles them.

Rex is just Like That. He saw the Westminster Dog Show exactly one (1) time and somehow decided he was going to try out walking on two legs. He treats it like it’s a neat trick, but his fellow dogs consider it body horror (but they’re all being very polite about it and nobody has the heart to say anything to him).

FusionFall Headcanons: Ghoulish Growths

According to concept art, these canopied creeps can stand up to a daunting fifteen meters, making them one of the largest fusion monsters to roam across the planet. Their description explains that fusion matter infecting the soil contributed to their rapid growth as well as their deformations. Said concept art might refer to these creatures as "Crazy Guardian Ents," but they are a far-cry from the protective forestdwellers you've heard about in stories.

Due to their massive size, these fusion monsters are the biggest threat to the KND Jungle Outpost and the main reason for the strong defenses surrounding it. The high slope and walls are necessary to help prevent the Ghoulish Growths from breaking in, with cannons doing far more damage than even a team of fusion fighters can manage against one of these foes. As such, guard duty is taken very seriously there and any soldier stationed at the Jungle Outpost is likely to have experience manning its heavy artillery. Since they will literary root themselves into the wall to keep from being forced back down, it's as difficult a task as it is an important one. If the Ghoulish Growths did reach the top of the base or actually managed to break in, the damage they'd cause would be severe. Moreover, since the base is so far out in the Wilds, it would also be harder to recover from such an attack as gathering resources would take more time.

While fusion spawns likely could've taken over some of the older, more mature, and much larger trees that exist within the Wilds, Fuse probably settled on younger ones for one simple reason: Mobility. Yes, having that kind of titan of a fusion monster in the Wilds would've been advantageous in some respects, but the original tree's roots would be so deeply burrowed into the earth that it would be a miracle if it could remove itself from the ground. Besides that, the branches of younger trees are more flexible. Taking them over at a young age would make the resulting monster naturally nimbler overall, as well as give them a better chance of warping the body into whatever shape was desired successfully prior to its accelerated growth. There might be a handful of those massive, older trees possessed by fusion spawns somewhere, existing in the same vein as mini bosses in the game do, but they'll be stationary. In extension to this, you won't really see Ghoulish Growths in colder climates for the same reason. Branches as more likely to get become brittle and take more damage, so they'll typically only stay wherever it's warm.

This is a direct contrast to the Timber Terrors, which are made from smaller and much older trees. As mentioned when covering them, their fossilized wood provided some defense against fusion matter's poisonous effects as the spawns possessed them. (It's hard to kill what's already dead.) Ghoulish Growths may have better mobility, but lack that same protection and typically have an even shorter lifespan as a result, their bodies collapsing on themselves over time even with fusion matter corrupting them more than killing them. Like the Timber Terrors, the longest lasting Ghoulish Growths are those whose makeup have been fully and successfully twisted by fusion matter, making it more like the alien flora we see in Hero's Hollow.

Other distinguishing features for these monsters are their three faces and elongated "fingers." While their heads are pressed into the trunk of the trees, meaning they have to turn their whole body to see around them, the extra sets of eyes do allow for greater visibility. If you aren't attacking them from directly behind, it can be harder to find a blind spot than you'd think. Their long, slender fingers are even more nimble than the rest of their form, and it's typical for them to completely bind their targets in a firm hold before squeezing the life out of them.

As one might imagine, literally being a tree makes their camouflage almost perfect, their ambush tactics second to none. Many a soldier have wandered through the forest only to learn of a Ghoulish Growth looming over them all too late. Wildlife has also suffered greatly, with animals sometimes approaching the still monsters unaware. Over time, as the forests' natural populations began to recognize the threat, they developed keener senses to avoid them, so keeping an eye on what trees animals act nervous around or actively avoid is a good way to keep yourself safe as well. Furthermore, it's much easier to spot these monsters at night, as the fusion matter coursing through them can't be hidden. Some of the smarter ones have tried using moss to cover this, to limited success.

The revealed sections of fusion matter warping through the wood are also their biggest weak spots. There, they have already likely taken sufficient damage from the inside-out. Turn those corroding, hollow areas into craters by attacking them directly.

While a little unorthodox and not without risk, another strategy would be if you managed to leap into a Ghoulish Growth's canopy and attack from there. It won't be an easy ride, but their topmost branches don't act as limbs and can instead be used for cover: Yes, they can still reach up to grab you, but it'll be harder with the branches shielding you and their limited visibility. For them, it would be like trying to pluck off a tick hidden in a thick mass of hair.

Fossil Fighters?

New challenger! Might also start dumping stuff about Fossil Fighters here, ocs, and my hypothetical ideas for what I would do if I was in charge of a Fossil Fighters redux! (Extensive thought has been put into this, the mental redux project is like my lifelong pipe dream)

I know I primarily post about Pokemon, but I don't wanna lock my blog to one outlet of thought, nor do I want to make a sideblog each time I get a new interest. So here we go ig

I will state now that I love the first two games and am a Frontiers hater. What third game? It's crazy how the series stopped at Champions, am I right? For my posts I'll probably be tackling the first game from like a 'Redux' perspective and then Champions from like a 'headcanon' perspective, possibly heading into a redux of its own at some point
