actually sorry dav reads like a game that was written by people who think da2 is about found family. in every other game my ending feels earned and my choices are my own and then veilguard asks the bold question what if we could bring the hr mandatory team bonding experience into a video game?

I think it would be very hilarious to write Idia with a girlfriend for years and no one found out about it, not because he doesn't share, they just thought she was not real. Probably another 2D, anime girl he likes, and yapping about as always.

And it turns out to be the Prefect. The prefect that was admired by everybody, adored, and loved. They choose Idia out of all the bachelors they can have out there. And the most shocking thing about it is Idia not being negative about their relationship.

He seems confident, sure, and very soft towards you. He just raises his eyebrow when asked, how did it happen? And just shrugs it off and replies, "Obviously, because it's me."

I've been seeing a lot of YouTube comments under the videos with Andromeda today, and I just felt like talking about some of those real quick. I'll try to keep it short, but no promises

The whole subject is shipping her with Sun. Moon thought she was pretty too, but people are more focused on her and Sun, I guess

Like Moon pointed out, it'd be weird and bad for her to suddenly get with Sun after what's gone on with Day and Night, and it'd also be a Not Great coping mechanism for her. All in all, an immediate relationship wouldn't be a good idea

BUT

Andromeda and Sun DO seem to have some chemistry, and they'd make a really cute couple. A relationship between them MIGHT work, but not anytime soon. Not until everything with Day and Night gets worked out and Andromeda has some time to process it, at least

I know the Sun in Sven's dimension was apparently engaged to some lady named Rosemary, and that's sort of what a lot of people are expecting for OG Sun. That he'll find a Rosemary and start dating her. We're ignoring the fact that not every dimension is the same in terms of relationships, though

The prime example is Monty and Terra. A lot of places we've seen have it set so that they're together, but in the case of new LAES, they hated each other. It was implied that Roxas was interested in Earth instead, but idk where that's gonna go tbh. Then with TEAPS, Monty is with Ballora instead, and Earth/Terra doesn't exist. Hell, Ruin was even with a Monty for a while, and from what we know, Earth/Terra never existed in their original dimension, either

This even happens with Sun. In the case of Novafrost, Nova and Frost are implied to be together. Then Sunny is with Roxas. Then Day was with Andromeda (and possibly also Night, since the two (I guess???) didn't see each other as brothers). All while OG Sun is chronically single

So,, even if Sven's Sun is engaged to Rosemary, there's a chance that that might not be the standard. Or that OG Sun might be an exception.

He and Andromeda MIGHT be a couple. Or Moon could even be with Andromeda. But it won't be for a VERY long time. That's only IF the shows wanna go that route. They might decide to have Sun be with someone else, or they might have him be the one Sun who stays single forever (because somehow that's funny??)

Idk man. It was funny for a little bit, but it's starting to get old, just like all the ugly jokes that are made toward Sun and Moon. It's all old, and it's not funny to me anymore. I just want Sun to find someone and be happy, and not be called ugly anymore. On god, that would be the best thing TSAMS could do right now, in my opinion

Ok. I am all for giving Veilgaurd the space to be it's own game and appreciate it for what it is, but every time I see a person who openly talks about only getting in to dragon age this year or some other nonsense go off about how long term fans hate the game cause they cant handle change I see red.

I mean, to be a Dragon Age fan, you have to be able to accept change. Change is at the core of the experience. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing is a different question. But if you're a long-term fan of the series, you've succeeded in the task of accepting change.

The criticisms of Veilgaurd are, in my opinion, a little unique to the franchise. For all Inquisition tweaked certain lore and it irritated a lot of people- it did so with self-awareness and intention. I am thinking about how it did the Dalish dirty in many respects. For all I do not agree with that writing direction, the game itself atleast acknowledges it is 1. New information. 2. Dependent on the clan. 3. Gives you the room to roleplay your character according to previously established lore. This is just one example, of course.

Veilgaurd is unique in the fact it ignores much of the series pre-established lore and in no way owns up to it.

I have seen a lot of hateful comments about how Origins hasn't been the framework of the series since 2009. And yeah, sure to a degree that is true. The gameplay certainly got tossed out. But in many ways, Dragon Age 2 is a direct continuation of that world and setting. DA2 and Origins and the lore they established are solid and share a vision. Play as a Mahariel and engage with Merril's clan. It's the same world. The same npc's. Inquisition does not deviate that far from that vision when you look past the companions all playing devil's advocate.

I really don't think everyone disappointed with this game or finding it lacking are "blinded by nostalgia." Most Dragon Age fans will be the first ones to tell you the franchise is a mess. But acting like the games that established it as beloved to it's fans are no longer relevant is so nasty to me. You as a newer fan would not be able to play Veilgaurd if the older fans had not made the previous titles financial successes. If they had not kept the love for the series alive, this new game would never have made it out of development.

The game is good. It's enjoyable to play. It's not without its charms. It should be given room to shine for what it is. It's a miracle we have it given the development journey it went on.

But it's also a massive smack in the face to many people who loved all three previous titles. And that's a bad thing. And I hope future titles remember the lore and tone of the series better.

These two things can both be true.
