I like to imagine Gordon getting increasingly flustered at the vortigaunts' nonstop praises. Just like, face slightly going pink, rubs the back of his neck and looks away all "aw, shucks".

Like, yes, Gordon Freeman is an unstoppable force of nature, but he's also like. Just a guy. He's a nerd and probably a little overwhelmed with suddenly being this Big Hero™️ that everyone is in awe over.

He's the guy who single-handedly WRECKED the Citadel with nothing but the gravity gun, destroying everything and/or one in his path, but like. They kidnapped his friends. NOBODY touches his friends without feeling the wrath of ten thousand supernovas.

But he's also the guy who fiddles with stuff in his friends' labs like a kid in a candy store. He's a man of multitudes.

Civilian Gothamites realizing they can get vengeance through Sword!Robin

Gothamites figuring out if they happen to mention a rogue treating animals poorly within hearing range of sword!Robin that rogue will be in custody with at least four fractures and a concussion and Damian being completely aware that like 63% of these people are lying but it’s the only way he can get experience with the nonlethal takedowns he’s experimenting with bc everyone keeps complaining about how he treats his opponents and allies 

Like he’s guiding a civilian to safety and they mention that “this would be the worst thing to happen to me today if riddler didn’t stab my fucking cat” and this civilian does not own a cat but they did own a car that was just paid off but riddler fucking crushed it with a stupid ass hot air balloon that’s shaped like a fucking question mark and Damian is aware of this bc he was the one that verified the insurance claim (but he’s been looking for a reason to punch Nygma in the throat since his last Arkham escape when he called Damian a moron)

And he also knows that if he plays along with it and says ‘as if I’d let that gaudy and tactless imbecile get away with committing such atrocities’ when prompted that he’ll get away with barely a slap on the wrist like he gets three half hearted but long lectures he’s not going to listen to and an online sensitivity training seminar he goads Tim into completing (Damian and Tim 100% try to trick each other into doing work they don’t want to do and full heartedly believe the other has no idea what they’re doing)

Bruce’s tendency for finding small crashouts at risk of becoming future rogues in Gotham and deciding they need love & supervision but what actually happens bc he’s so fucking awkward is they get almost the same amount of supervision just with like an hour of intense helicopter parenting a week but honestly besides that they just have more money and resources to do fuck shit

I find it interesting how one of the main criticisms of Yasmine as a character is that she never faced significant narrative comeuppance for her shitty behavior in Season 1. While I'd agree The Wedgie Incident™️ alone isn't enough for everyone to instantly forgive her just because she's been humbled, I also feel that her slowly losing her personality, agency, and own independent narrative to revolve her existence around a guy using her to boost his own image and who has never given a shit about getting to know her as an actual person is probably punishment enough. Pepper in the fact that she will now cement a reputation as "that wedgie bitch who got cheated on and probably turned her ex gay", and it seems she's suffered quite a bit of narrative retribution. Perhaps even a tad disproportionately.

I will, of course, be able to do some deeper analyses after I actually know her ending in Part 3. But no matter what they decide to do with her in the finale (which, according to imdb, is the only episode she's returning for), she still spent several seasons trapped in an unequal relationship revolving entirely around Demetri, and was brushed aside as soon as she no longer scored Demetri any significant Coolness Points™️. Her reputation is bones now, and she'll probably never be able to live this down. The culmination of everything almost makes the humiliation of the wedgie look tame.

Yasmine sucked ass in S1, don't get me wrong! And I don't like that she never apologized for anything and everyone was just okay with her anyways. I definitely think she could have been humbled a bit more and showed more remorse before she was fully accepted back by her friends as "reformed."

That said, though, being turned into a watered-down prop for Demetri's storyline and being ignored and/or actively discarded by him practically every time she's offscreen is just about the darkest and harshest punishment that any character has received for their wrongdoings. Yasmine loses any concrete personality to become an extension of Demetri--and even then, it's not enough to keep her relevant to anyone. As soon as she dumps Demetri, she ceases to have any narrative impact because the story painted her as only mattering via her ties to a male character. It's a far cry from her Season 1 presence, where she was a formidable villain and a story driver in her own right.

And honestly? I don't care what Yasmine's done, I wouldn't wish that kind of misogynistic nightmare on my worst enemy.

Was rewatching Islands, there are sooo many interesting things left open ended!!!

Like the islands had to have had at least one more human migration (other than Two-Bread Tom and his folks) to explain the Swedish language population. Possibly there were even more, the islands seem pretty multicultural and Two-Bread Tom’s group was pretty small.

There’s also the Guardian and MoCo’s involvement in settling the islands! Presumably the islands would have had to establish contact with the main continent (there wasn’t any indication in Stakes that Moe was involved yet) Was there a time before they got super isolationist where there was still such a thing as human-Ooo relations?

BMO is compatible with all the human tech so that seems to imply either tech hasn’t changed that much or Moe was involved in standardization practices too! BMO also uses galaxy standard parts which is more evidence for all of Moe’s weird projects, but super cool if human tech might be compatible with the wider galaxy if they ever make their way there. BMO likely was around at the time too! He’s one of the first Mo’s and knows of the existence of Fraiser.

Moe has had his hands in like a million other unexplained things!!! We know nothing about his involvement with Mars or the Fire Giants! Overall he seemed just so secretive and I hope the factory kept records so all the information on these crazy projects didn’t die with him.

I also like really want to know more about the humans after Susan left. Minerva coming into power was a massive change to the entire structure of society, Seeker/Hider/Experimenter classes seem to no longer even be around. Generally the insane levels of authoritarianism has been toned down a bit. Like this is equivalent to a massive overthrowing of the government, and all of this happened within a single lifetime too! I really want to read like a fanfic or something that fills in the time period of re-ed to modern day in Frieda’s life. Lol should just try and write it myself probably but big projects like that are tough.

And lastly, this is less of a niche thing but also HOW DID MARTIN GET TO SPACE???

Anyway this was me rambling about the things that make me insane. Islands was sooooo great man. Like I am squeeing with joy as I write this (although I am also sad that a lot of this I will never have canon answers for).
