ok I have a little more salt to add to my earlier salt.

So let’s take an example.  In the BBC show Merlin (young Arthur and Merlin, I love it) Merlin has Excalibur forged in dragon’s breath with the intent for Arthur to use it, but then Uther uses it but let’s not count that for a second b/c he really only used it for a minute or two.  So the next time it’s used Merlin is the one using it, and he uses it majorly.  Excalibur is still Arthur’s sword, yes?  And one having the sword does not diminish the other’s role in the series, yes?

Apply that to SW.  THAT is why it’s considered Rey’s lightsaber, and why it didn’t make Finn unimportant when he didn’t end up with it.
