My Mascara Routine
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First I go in with my L.A Colors Perfect Curve Mascara. This mascara has a very thick formula and is meant to add thickness and darkness to my lashes. I bought it on a whim and didn't expect much (I think it was $3) but this mascara is a staple for me. I first normally apply it to my lashes, then I sweep the wand horizontally side to side which deposits all the product in your lashes that the wand carries (this is the most important part!! Sweeping it sideways is key!) Next, I brush through my lashes upwards from the root to the tips normally. I then apply 1-2 layers on my lashes again without waiting for the different layers to dry so my lashes don't look too clumpy.
Tumblr media
Then I go in with my Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara. It's not waterproof at all and its kind of runny but I prefer it that way to reduce clumpiness. The trick is to close your eye and applying this mascara to the very tips and really work the product by applying several layers. Like 3-6 layers. This is the key to having the longest lashes and making your lashes look borderline fake. This mascara is jet black and buildable so by the time that I'm done, my lashes touch my eyebrows. I personally prefer only applying mascara to my top lashes but if I apply it to my bottom lashes I only use Ilia.
Tumblr media
I clean up any excess mascara on my eyelids or under my eyes with a q tip or makeup wipe. I have extremely minimal eyelid space so this mascara routine gives me the dolly eyes I love without needing to apply liner. If you’re not into the clumpy mascara look, apply less layers and curl your lashes. I'm not afraid to really apply the products to my lashes by coating each lash with mascara so that is what makes the difference.

How to give the appearance of bigger eyes and lips.
Tumblr media
Bigger lips 💋
Volufiline promotes lipid storage, leading to an increase of a diposite volume in fatty tissue, resulting in plump and fuller lips.
Tumblr media
- A reddit comment
Hyaluronic acid is used to reduce these lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Hyaluronic acid can make your lips fuller and younger-looking.
“take the hyaluronic acid serum you use for your face and apply it to your lips, following it up with a generous layer of a rich and occlusive balm. Choosing a thick lip balm is key, possibly one made from Vaseline” - vogue
*slightly* over-line the lips to to give the appearance of bigger lips using natural shades to line the lips.

Bigger eyes 👀
(Long) Lashes can make your eyes look bigger and more youthful. You should focus on both the bottom and top lashes with lash extensions or mascara.
Example: Manwha lashes

Winged eyeliner can help elongate and draw attention to the eyes, helping them seem bigger. Drawing with a less harsher colour like anything close but softer than black to place in the inner corners of the eye, making it more sharp.
Highlighting the inner corners will bring focus to the eye area.
Lowe set eye brows which are slightly thin will also give the appearance of bigger eyes (it’s okay if you don’t have them tho!). Fill brows in as normal.

Eyeshadow placement will also help on emphasising the roundness of the eye. Adding more emphasis on your under eye fat by drawing aegyo sal and darkening the lower-lash line especially on the outer corner by using a dark brown or a softer colour than black. If you want, you can also darken the lid near to the upper lash line with a subtle warm brown or similar colour to the bottom lash line.
Blush placement should be placed on the apples of the cheeks to bring focus near the eyes.

The light in your recent art (for SporadicRat) is soooo pretty. If you don't mind me asking, how do you create those soft, directional light beams like that? Love seeing the wip to complete work too! ^^
aAA thank you!
funny enough a lot of glowy effects like that can be achieved with just an airbrush tool!!
here's how i draw those:
Tumblr media
STEP ONE: LIGHT SOURCE. in this case, a big white or near-white box. if you're following along to do this yourself, I recommend making a separate layer for each step.
Tumblr media
STEP TWO: INSERT AIRBRUSH. I like to have my brush be large enough to cover the Thing I want to glow, then I just swipe across it. I personally like to vary the pen pressure to get a little unevenness.
The brush I used here is the default Soft Airbrush that comes with Clip Studio Paint. If you do not have the Soft Airbrush in your copy of Clip for some reason, click the hamburger menu [yes that IS a real term for the three-line menu icon] and manually add it from the defaults:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
STEP THREE: DIRECTIONAL LIGHTING. Using the same brush I drew a couple lines towards the object [in this case, Dramatic Sebastian]. I used a smaller brush size here You may need to adjust the opacity here to get a more desired effect. I stick between 25% and 75% opacity. You want those lines to be slightly transparent - unless you want it aggressively beaming down at your object like a laser.
Dust particles can help sell the glow effect. Try to focus the dust particles IN the beams themselves. You can have some stragglers outside the beams but dust illuminates best under direct light.
now if you want fancy glowy COLOURS i use a slightly different method!!! i use the same steps as above, only for the airbrush layers i use a darker colour and have those layers set as Hard Light layers:
Tumblr media
i didn't use the Hard Light for white solely because using a Hard Light layer here did not change the overall appearance of the white At All.
hope this helps!!! ;w;

A fearsome Storm Dragon from this post - it's time to show you how its lightnings and eyes glow in the dark!⚡ The sculpture is handmade of air-dry clay, painted with acrylic colors and covered with protective matte varnish. Here's a little tutorial on how to charge the glowing elements on my sculptures. Turn on the sound! ^^
